Metahuman Resident Evil OC
Yo guys, it's been a time I don't post anything related to Metahuman, and in case you don't know what this is, is a program of Unreal Engine 5 where you create models called Metahumans, they're used for animation or even for game creation.
There is a free site so you can test it, but it's kinda heavy 😅 but I recommend a lot

I did some Metahuman tests at work today as part of learning cinematic workflows in Unreal Engine.
Meet the Hunter (name pending) and Matthew. These two will face off in a short cinematic scene I wrote... and I will try to do scratch vocal and face capture performances for them too. Wish me luck! :D
So far, learning to use these tools has been very similar to... well, the notoriously bonkers character creation in Elden Ring is the closest to Metahuman Creator I've used, and building levels is curiously similar to the building mode in The Sims. And similarly fun.

Happy New Year of 🪵🐉🐲!
I tend to have lazy start of the year on purpose, to chill out. But it also gets uneasy, because of the ingrained social expectation to have resolutions (same as to celebrate at all).
I do lose track if my goals very easily due to my absent-minded flaky attention jumping from idea to idea.. so for this year My ultimate resolution is to make first steps as a creative/movie director. This has felt like the best summary of the professional role I ultimately want to take on.
Starting with doing art in landscape, perhaps.
Webtoon format is very close to this, but that's the whole other thing I am still pondering on.
Right now I want to do a very simple project:
Few seconds of a video made in Unreal Engine sequencer, using Metahuman I already have (clothes changes are not important here thanks to emphasis on blur and light in the room/glass overlay) + mocap+ figuring out cinematic light&blur.
There is nothing extra I need to prepare, just look up UE5 metahuman expansion related to animating.
The doodle above is the storyboard frame with my oc.
And here is some older doodle edit i recenty did, which kinda the reason for the today's one.
Overall idea is:
The blurry misty with light rays, scene behind a textured glass. Facial expressions changes and eventual bloody hand slap on the glass. Kinda mystery/horror vibe + Awake tv show vibe. For color theme I wanna go with wood for the Year's dragon color. I tend to drigt to greenish, common color theme for movies. I want the visuals to be more ambiguous, without the insta-moody vibe.

whole buncha kiko refs. metahuman is a little hard to work with so I could give him quite as much monolid as I picture him having but I tried :/
the metahuman was more for side profile (and expressions/lighting) anyway, and artbreeder for the portrait. good refs either way

以下自分用のメモ。 HeadShot等のアプリで1枚の���真や絵から3Dモデルを起こし、それをEpic / UE5のMetaHumanプラ��インで取り込み、iPhoneをフェイシャルキャプチャとして利用するお手軽ワークフローが確立された模様。mac版UE5は2023年6月現在MetaHumanプラグインに未対応で、今回の人物造形はWeb版で行ったのだけれども、工程が凄まじく簡単で未来感がすごい。SFか。 UE5とiPhoneのフェイシャルキャプチャ連携はiPhone12以降のモデルに対応しており、今のところアプリ「Live Link Face」だけでいけるっぽい。
