Catnap + Dogday x Reader ( Part 1 )

Relationship : Fluff

Reader : Female, age 20.

Plot : You are one of the Playcare employees that looks after the Smiling Critters and makes sure all the mascots are in good shape.

The very first day you were assigned to the Playcare, you didn't expect the mascot to be huge and very tall. Hell, even taller than Huggy Wuggy themselves!

You were nervous to be around these mascots but it was your job to keep them at a top notch.

Dogday, the leader of the smiling critters was the first to greet you. His personality is as bright as the sun necklace around his neck.

The others follow his lead and greet you with smiles on their faces, welcoming you to the daycare.

Well, except one.

Which was Catnap.

The purple cat mascot is high up on one of the buildings, watching everything from above and his eyes looking down at you, judging you from afar.

For the first week, you monitor the smiling critters and their behaviours. The others are fine interacting with the children, except for Catnap who prefers to be on his own.

You tried to get the cat to do his job but the mascot refused to listen to you. Which was frustrating.

You were amazed that the technology in place is far more advanced and the mascots in this Playtime Co. have their own personalities like a real person would which was..... intriguing and at the same time.... terrifying.

According to Dogday, Catnap used to be very friendly but he had been distancing himself from the group recently.

He never knows why.

The supervisor told you that Catnap was the most troublesome in the group and they said to keep an eye on the cat and make sure he does his work and doesn't get in any trouble.

It would take time for you to properly work with him. So, you respect the mascot's boundaries and try interacting with him slowly.

Day by day, you make sure to visit him first every time your shift starts. you greet Catnap with a 'Good morning' and 'How are you doing?'.

The cat only stares at you with a swishing tail, you set down a bag of croissants and look up at the mascot.

"Hey, Catnap! If you're hungry, you can have these croissants! Eat it while it's still fresh, okay bud. You can't work with an empty stomach!"

"......"

Again, he just stares at you.

You also learn that these mascots are able to consume organic matter which again shocks you, so you always sneak in some food from the cafe for all the smiling critters, in secret.

The smiling critters began to like you and saw you as their favourite out of all the employees.

Things go on normally in the daycare, the smiling critters keep themselves busy with the children ( that you weren't allow to interact with )

You spend your time in the office and look through the papers. When you were about to take a sip of the hot drink from your cup—

"Hiya, there! Mrs. (L/n)!"

"Oh, f—k!"

You jump out from your seat and some of the hot drink spilled onto your pants causing you to curse under your breath.

It was Dogday.

"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you!"

The dog apologises for startling you and offers you a handkerchief that magically appears out of thin air.

You said you were alright. You turn to ask what makes Dogday come to your office.

The smiling critter just said he wants to see you, saying to you that you have been coup up in your office for hours now.

You were grateful that he was concerned about you but you told him that the papers kept you busy.

"Sorry, bud. I just have a lot of papers to look through. Ya know, I have to keep all of you in shape"

"I see. Thank you for caring and taking care of us angel........unlike the others—anyways!"

Dogday whispers the last part which cannot be heard clearly by you.

"Do you need help with anything? I'm free! I can help you with everything and as a leader of the Smiling Critters, it is also my job to help you too!"

Dogday offers a helping hand, his tail swishing as he awaits for your answers.

You told him you do need help sorting out the papers into the folders which the dog excitedly said yes.

He sits on the floor next to you, since how tall he is. You point out the paper that he needs to sort out in the correct order.

Dogday have trouble picking up the papers with his large hands. You couldn't help but stifle at the sight, yet he managed to find a way of picking up the paper without crumpling it.

After a few hours passed. The bell rings loudly, signalling it was recess time.

You stretch your limbs and stand up from your chair, you turn to Dogday who already finished sorting out all the papers.

"You did a great job there, Dogday. Thank you!"

"Hehe, no problem Mrs. (L/n)! Glad to help!"

"Just call me, (Y/n). Dogday. No need to be so formal and besides I'm not THAT old..."

"Alright, (Y/n)!"

You yawn escape your mouth as you rub your eye, a nice nap is the only thing that comes to your mind after a long hour of paperwork.

Dogday notices how tired you look.

"A good nap will make you feel energetic afterwards!"

"Yeah, it does. I'm going to the staffroom and sleep there. You can go back to the playcare, Dogday"

But the orange dog didn't leave and instead picks you up which surprises you.

Dogday held you close to his body and said.

"No need! You can sleep here with me!"

His arms wrap around your smaller body, your face buried into his chest and his fur smells like vanilla. Which was comforting....

Before you know it, you already drift off to sleep.

"Sleep well, angel...."

Next day.

Following the same routine, you visit Catnap again but the cat was nowhere in sight.

You call out for the feline and you hear a loud thud behind you. Hot breath tickles your back which causes you to quickly turn around to see the purple cat staring at you with beady white eyes.

You hold out an apple pie to him, which the cat takes and devours with a wide open mouth.

"I want....more"

"Huh?"

"More....sweets..."

It was the first time you heard Catnap speak, his voice was deep and distorted.

You now have learned that Catnap likes sweets. Which gives you quite an advantage over him.

"Yes, you can have more sweets.....If you do your job"

You told the cat which he grunts roughly in return.

"You can request any kind of sweets you want in return, I promise. Just as long you do your job as a play care attendant"

Catnap seemingly thinking about the deal that you had offered to him. The sweets seems to get to him since he never gets to eat such food....

It was tempting and he finally agrees with you.

"Okay..."

With that simple okay, Catnap begins to do his job in the play care to Dogday's delight.

After the shift is over, you give Catnap his sweet treats as you promised.

"Haha! See, it wasn't that hard, right! You did a great job there, Catnap! If you keep doing that, I might bake you a cake!"

You praised the feline mascot with a bright smile. Which causes the feline to look away slightly.

The feeling of praise makes his heart flutter with warmth.....

It was a very long day at work and you bid the smiling critters a good night before you leave the playcare.

Unknown to you, some of the higher ups have noticed how well you do with the Smiling Critters.

You are safe....

For now....

A/n : There will be more interaction with Catnap in the next chapter! I am aware that Catnap is Theo which is a child!

I am not sure who resides in Dogday and he might be one of the employees of the playcare since he knows so much.

Relationship between the three would be fluff. If romance, it could be focused on Dogday maybe...?

So what is the sleeping arrangements for the Toys since there is around 80 some of them being very tall in a kinda cramp house

And let’s not forget that there are issues with Toys with each other like DogDay(the Best Boy) with the Mini Critters you can guess why, along with CatNap, plus CatNap with Mommy Long Legs

So definitely issues

I talked about this with my beautiful and amazing partner and completely forgot about responding this ask! Okay, so:

During the first few months post-factory escape, the toys are all living in Angel's super small house. Things are cramped and only get worse after the authorities find the remaining smiling critters, still alive although all really pretty beat up. For this house, the sleeping arrangements are... Complicated.

We have a kitching, living room, Angel's single bedroom, bathroom and laundry room. With this setup, we have:

Huggy Wuggy, PJ Pug-a-Pillar and the mini huggies make a giant cuddle pile in the living room, where the rest of the smaller toys sleep.

Mommy Long Legs gets the couch because unlike the others she isn't made of pure fluff. The mini critters use her as a pillow.

Catnap is always awake during night time, keeping an eye out for intruders, so when he's doing his "patrol" the mini critters occupy his corner in the living room, waiting for him to come back. During daytime that corner is where he stays at taking naps.

Kissy Missy, Poppy and Dogday use Angel's room. Angel themself is always sleeping close to a different toy because everyone wants their attention.

Bunzo is ALWAYS sleeping next to Angel, he doesn't care, he's Baby and has bad separation anxiety.

Miss Delight grabs a cushion and sleeps in the kitchen because she's too used to sleeping alone and she's a bit paranoid at first. With time, some of the smaller toys start using her as pillow, after she allows them to do that.

When the other Smiling Critters finally start leaving the hospital, the arrangement changes to fit everyone.

Hoppy, Boxy Boo and Bubba go to Angel's room.

Huggy and the mini huggies sleep in the laundry room because they're all super flexible and love the cramped space. Angel doesn't like that at all but can't do much about it.

Kickin, Crafty and Bobby make a cuddle pile in the living room.

Picky goes to sleep in the kitchen because she can't bear staying close to the other critters after she ate pieces of them in order to survive.

When Angel finally finds the farm house, everyone basically speedruns moving out. There's a LOOOOT of bickering about who gets which room to sleep with whom, but I think the final arrangement is this:

Poppy, Kissy, Bobby and Crafty in their own #noboysallowed shared bedroom.

Huggy + the mini huggies, PJ and Bunzo in their own #nogirlsallowed (except Hoppy because she's really cool) room. This is also technically Boxy Boo's room but he has nightmares when he isn't sleeping next to Hoppy.

Hoppy, Mommy Long Legs and Piggy, even though Piggy sleeps more in the living room for the first few months. Some small toys also live in their own corner of the room here.

Bubba and Miss Delight, because they're the only ones who Get how the other works when it comes to room organization. Delight also sleeps in the living room for the first few months at first, and she and Picky become best friends during that time period.

The mini critters and small toys share a room that's also technically Catnap's, but he sleeps more at Prototype's hut than in there.

Dogday and Kickin have their own room! It's right next to Hoppy's, with she often also sleeping with them thanks to her nightmares.

Angel has their own room in theory because they're always sleeping in someone else's room. The toys still fight over their attention, rip.

Prototype has his own hut, and there's a place just for Catnap in there.

The farm house has some other rooms as well that are all repurposed into things like a small study room, a play room, etc. One room is left empty for when people come over to visit. This room is what becomes Catnap and Dogday's future room as well!

Prototype uses Angel's room to sleep when there's a thunder storm outside. Angel is afraid of him getting struck by lightning and their room is in the middle of the house where they can look out for the other toys, so Proto feels safest in ehre.

They are not the same as Catnap and MLL in my au, they're their own beings in my au. They're just one of the mini versions of who they are in the game.

Speaking of the minis- here's a lil thing about 'em that I had wrote down on the paper but am going to go more in detail on. I'm gonna put a lil break off just for those who don't wanna read this and keep on scrolling really lol.

Since the scientist in my au had kids be turned into the minis more often than the BBIs, it's difficult to tell which kid is who among them. So whenever one of the BBIs are able to figure out which mini is who, which even then is difficult to figure out with documents marking out some names. They put something on them to separate them from the rest, like a cloth, charm, bracelet, anything really.

Another reason why it's so hard to who is who is because all of the minis (except the mini wuggies in the Game Station) are mute. Which I will say so it's also known, being mute is something that they didn't have a choice in at all unlike how the majority of BBIs have that choice. Either they cannot talk (mini MLLs, Huggys, etc.) or they can make small animal-like sounds (mini critters, mini bunzos, etc.), so they're unable to tell people who they are unless the person already says their name. And they're able to confirm it in some way or another.

SMILING CRITTERS, HIDDEN WORLDS

(AU Smiling Critters X The Owl House)

Idea: An AU where the Smiling Critters are in The Owl House universe, keeping the same storyline but with some different narrative focuses.

Dogday is a human, but instead of being seen as the first human to learn magic, he disguises himself as another creature to fit in.

When Kissy Missy and Poppy find Dogday, they help him blend in with a "sun collar" that uses illusion magic to give him a slightly more dog-like appearance (just dog ears and black eyes with white pupils like the other Critters) and take him in at their home.

Thanks to the sun collar with illusion magic, he doesn’t face the same initial struggles that Luz did trying to fit in.

Catnap embodies the Owl Beast curse, becoming the “Thing” (referencing Catnap's "Bigger Bodies" version). The curse was placed by 1006, who wanted Catnap to be more evil and cruel, as well as more dependent on him.

Catnap, being based on Amity, initially plays the role of a bully influenced by his adoptive “father,” who is a combination of The Owl House's Emperor and Prototype 1006 from Poppy Playtime.

Throughout the AU, Catnap undergoes a change, influenced by his developing feelings for Dogday. Catnap would also have the same issues Amity has with her mother Odalia in the series, but here with the twist of being the Emperor's child—almost a prince (royalty gone bad).

1006 represents both Odalia and Emperor Belos, and with Catnap as Amity and 1006 as Odalia, the purple cat is manipulated by his father, the Emperor 1006.

Due to his relationship with Dogday, the Emperor initially allows the relationship to gather information from Dogday about the human world, as well as to have more control over Catnap, threatening to harm Dogday if he disobeys.

We have Kicking x Bubba because in this house we love Goldric! (And the rivalry between Catnap and Bubba is obviously fun. Plus, out of all the Smiling Critters, Bubba seems like the one capable of following the Prototype only for knowledge.)

The emotional tension between Catnap, Dogday, and the Emperor is essential. Unlike Luz in The Owl House, who dealt with Odalia and Belos separately, Dogday must face 1006, who is not only the Emperor but also Catnap's father (his platonic partner).

Player is Dogday’s older brother, taking on Camila’s role. And, of course, his name is Angel.

Character:

Dogday is Luz.

Catnap is Amity.

CraftyCorn is Willow (Luz’s best friend).

Hoppy is Gus (Luz’s best friend, but here she's a girl).

Picky Piggy is Matt (because yes, I love the dynamic of the one who exercises and the one who eats well).

Bobby would be Emira (Amity’s sister, but here, she's just a close friend).

Kicking would be Edric (Amity’s brother, but here, he's his closest friend).

Kissy Missy is Eda/King (because she cares for Luz).

Poppy is King/Eda (for being special and the real powerful witch).

Huggy represents both Lilith (Eda’s sister) and Raine (Eda’s former partner, here in a relationship with Kissy Missy).

Bunzo Bunny is Hooty (God).

1006 or the Prototype is Emperor Belos.

Bubba would now be the Golden Guard, Hunter (who, instead of falling for Willow, falls for Edric, though he’s also like a brother to Luz).

The Nightmare Critters would be some bullies (Babachops would likely be Bosha).

That reminds of Sun and Moon's Poppy Playtime playthrough..

Especially the first part of it with that dream sequence..

For me it seemed that Sun was almost in a panic state/scared of what was happening there unlike in second part..

Which only strengthen what I think about Sun that he considers himself to be evil monster killer..

Cause Sun mostly seemed to be more scared when in parts related to guilt.. He even said that he didn't do anything when he saw words carved into the floor saying "Guilt haunts you"..

And he was terrified when he tried to escape Nightmare Huggy Wuggy..

Also it's not the first time when Sun seems more anxious and scared during gameplays when there's guilt involved..

For me it seemed as if Sun always took these parts more seriously compared to everything else..

Character Relations (Friendly)

On his trek across the factory, Frank will encounter many strange characters, many I'm sure you're all familiar with. Here, we'll go over the allies that Frank will make, and how he is towards them.

Poppy Playtime

The first living toy Frank meets that isn't actively gunning for his death, Poppy Playtime was locked in her shrine for 10 years, being released as soon as Frank encounters it.

Unlike the original Player, who is actively seeking an exit, Frank wants to stay, as he now wants to figure out just what's going on. This is a major benefit to Poppy, as she now has someone that she knows can help her without abandoning her.

Frank finds Poppy to be rather creepy, granted given her bloodshot eyes and the fact that she's a doll. Her big eyes remind him of the Slaphappy Slappy toyline (Poppy grimaces at every mention of it). Frank agrees to help her, but not (at first) out of the kindness of his heart, but rather to get closer to the truth of Playtime Co.

Though, as time goes on, Frank starts to see Poppy as more and more of a friend. There's always some light in the darkest of places.

"Y'know, I've called girls 'doll' before, but this is ridiculous..."

Kissy Missy

The female counterpart to Huggy Wuggy, Kissy Missy is, unlike him, docile and on Poppy's side. Frank didn't think that way at first. Upon seeing her from behind a closed gate, he had a metal pipe at the ready. They stared down at each other for what seemed like forever. It wasn't until she opened the other gate, the one that Frank needed, that he realized she was good.

The next time Frank would see her would be in Playcare, giving him yet another fright as it was pitch black, making it seem as though she was another Huggy. Though, tensions died down as soon as Poppy spoke.

Frank finds Kissy to be somewhat endearing, though her silence and unblinking eyes never fail to make him slightly uneasy. But, given how she's a giant with surprising strength, knowing she's on his side brings him great relief.

"She has those big lips, but never says anythin'. Though, if she sounds like that cutout...I'd understand."

Ollie

Poppy's informant, only heard through a toy phone...or is he the phone? Regardless, Ollie helps Frank throughout the Playcare area, as he knows pretty much everything about it.

Even though Ollie has done nothing but help Frank out, there are moments and mannerisms of his that make Frank suspicious. For example, his very upbeat personality. Only a psychopath could be this cheery in a situation like this.

Never seeing Ollie is another point of suspicion for Frank. He could be anyone, even that...thing with the claw. But Frank has to trust him, for now at least. Lest he get caught by Playcare's guardian.

"There's no way that's a kid...right?"

Dogday

The last of the Smiling Critters, Frank finds him in...not the best shape. Dogday was ripped in half by Catnap for being, in his eyes, a heretic, and was then strung up in the Playhouse "Prison".

Here, a choice has to be made, and quickly, or Dogday dies. If your camera is charged enough, you can use its flash to deter the mini critters that would have ended Dogday's life. It is then that Frank can carry him to somewhere safe...while being chased by mini critters, of course.

If Dogday survives, he is grateful for Frank's help, and will assist in any way he can. His bitter and somber persona slowly fades away, becoming more and more happy and upbeat.

Frank was too old for toys when the Smiling Critters were released to toy stores...but, Dogday was always his favorite.

"What? Can't a guy enjoy stuffed animals?"

I’ll reveal her full name but let’s just call them L for the moment

They go by any and all pronouns(hahaha gender who?)

She's a jester, but unlike the main mascot cast, they’re an actual human(also she’s sorta gothic)

She runs her own little "world" which is circus/carnival themed(the cast visits there so many times)

Her and Plex were actually together once before when they were younger(think of Scott Pilgrim and Kim Pine) but...she had to leave Gabba Land because of…lore reasons(👀)

She came back though after a few years! Now they're...not really sure where to go from here. Obviously the feelings Plex had for them never really went away and L…never stopped thinking about his beloved robot.

She's besties with Foofa(they both love flowers. And dolphins. And mermaids.)

L's OBSESSED with animals. And singing. And karaoke. And dancing.

Brobee DEFINITELY thinks of them as a big sister/brother figure(I have a HUGE headcanon that Brobee is autistic) and she sympathizes with his hesitance to try new things

(Also Huggy Wuggy and Brobee are brothers and you cannot change my mind)

L and Muno actually get along pretty well! They skateboard, she teaches him guitar, they watch bugs, and they like to go on horse rides together!

Toodee and her are really good friends too! They ice skate often and practice tap-dancing routines!

The Protagonist is gonna shoot down Catnap:

Okay, the moment I saw the Flare gun hand... I know for a fact we're boutta have fun with this one.

And it's main mechanic is to fire it so we can see what's hiding in the dark and scaring away any enemy that comes near us.

So, why did I think the Protag is gonna shoot Catnap?

Well, if you didn't notice, at the end of the trailer during Catnap full reveal we hear a child screaming as gunshots are being fired.

I assume the sound is from a VHS tape, possibly showing what happens to kids who misbehave or even the experiments failed to do what it's told.

But I think it's the Protag shooting Catnap, because we all know by now that the Protagonist is gonna kill every main antagonist in every chapter.

For example Huggy Wuggy and Mommy Long Legs, so what makes you think Catnap is any different?

And can you imagine this?

As the Protagonist shoots Catnap to take him down, Catnap starts to scream in pain and his voice is that of a child. And maybe to make this more impactful is to have Catnap speaking, possibly begging the Protagonist to stop hurting him because he's already is so much pain.

A child is talking, guiding the Protagonist through the phone:

I notice that in the trailer for Phase 3 of Project: Playtime, a child's voice is heard. They're talking about how the experiments are left behind like a misfit toy and we have no idea who this child is.

And now, in the trailer, we hear them again. (Or atleast, I think so. Idk if they're the same voice)

This time they're talking about the Playcare being Catnap's church, hunting ground and he can do whatever he pleases.

And I'm starting to think that this child is the one talking to us through the phone, the phone that was gifted to us from a third-party. And I'm not sure if this child is a human or an experiment, because there's no way for a child to stay as a child and survive in the factory for 10 years since it's shut down.

So, I bet this is an experiment, perhaps maybe they are human but are on life support to stay it alive...?

Dogday might become the Protagonist's ally:

In the first trailer, we saw a Bigger Body of Dogday chasing the Protagonist in a playground. And there was a scene of Dogday tied up as man explains what Catnap does to heretics.

And it's worth pointing out that the voice actor for Harley Sawyer, aka The Doctor said he is proud to have voiced Dogday. So that means that Dogday can talk to us. And if you remember correctly, at the end of the second trailer, we hear a man talking again and is welcomed the Protagonist home.

But why would I think Dogday is gonna be our ally?

Well, if you haven't notice, during the what seems to be a chase scene of the bigger Dogday, the Protagonist doesn't have the Flare-Gun Hand out. Unlike the scene where the Protagonist shot the flare gun at a plush Dogday.

So, I think that Dogday is gonna be our ally and I think he'll be following us around. But since his legs doesn't seem to work, maybe he has a tight limit to helping us.

All the while he explains to us about Catnap and what happened to the toys he punishes.

And I do believe that Harley Sawyer isn't Dogday, because this could be like the 'Stella Greyber is Poppy' theory. They may share the same voice actor, but they're not the same person in-game.

Since I know some people out there are both fans of Pokemon and Poppy Playtime I'm surprised more of them haven't made any crossover-y stuff involving Sneasler. I mean it's got the same basic sort of shape as Huggy Wuggy/Kissy Missy and like upcoming Chapter 3 villain Cat Nap it's purple, somewhat feline-adjacent and associated with gases (though Cat Nap's just make you go to sleep unlike what might result from Sneasler's poison moves) that you really shouldn't get anywhere near

Modern SpongeBob Seasons 5 to 8 rant part one

Oh my gosh gosh freaking darn it i really hate these seasons so much and let you know that this is only my opinion so let get started the reasons i hate these seasons (which is 5-8) because the characters are became total jerks and ruined and flanderized to the point where they became unlikeable and SpongeBob Squarepants who is my favourite cartoon character of all time who is cheerful kindhearted happy-go-lucky type a character who works in krusty krab and goes jellyfishing in the old episodes i actually really like him hes just a innocent little yellow sponge who is nice to everyone and tries to cheer them up even Squidward but now since Season 5 to 9 he have became one of the most annoying versions of SpongeBob i have ever seen he became so unlikeable so annoying so melodramatic so immature so bratty to the point you start to hate him after these seasons and Patrick i actually like him hes SpongeBobs best friend who is dumb not really that dumb but in later seasons he have became more dumb more moronic more selfish and more unpleasant and unlikeable that he is but one character that started to make lose my crap is Mr Krabs oh gosh dang it I hate him, because he is cold hearted greedy, selfish, and more unlikeable than SpongeBob and Patrick. hes worse than Huggy Wuggy, Vlad Bumaga, Juilia Cooper, Lincoln Loud, Lori Loud, Nobouyuki Sugou (Sword Art Online), Modern Mr Goodman and Jeffy and the other characters are jerks the episodes are mean spirited and jokes are cruel. you know i could here to write and tell my reasons why modern SpongeBob Seasons 5 to 8 is one big garbage but i safe it for it later so goodnight everyone

Ohio Huggy Wuggy Deluxe: Large cheeseburger combo, most likely comes with an optional toy a la Huggy Wuggy. The Ohio part could be some sort of Ohio-known burger order and/or the craziest combo of ingredients known to man.

On a Rizz - Since “Rizz” is short for “Charisma”, I’m going to guess that this guy wants the finest-looking carrying tray. Unless it’s like “on a stick”, but that sounds unlikely.

Nathaniel B. the Ocky Way: Add a second sandwich packed with mushrooms as well as the usual Ocky stuff. This is probably for someone else he’s ordering for... Maybe.

Biggest Bird with a Pibby and a Sin City: A large order of chicken legs with ...hm.. a sprinkle-covered ice cream sundae (with extra cherry sauce) and a Las Vegas-style side? Unless the Pibby is referring to a Big Kids Meal a la 90s Burger King and Sin City is some sort of alcoholic drink? Or a pricy soda?

Light Skin Stare: Lightly toast the chicken and/or buns. Not sure which.

Make it Jumbo Josh - Sounds like a French fry size, so I’m rolling with that. Large French fries.

Pizza Tower it - Stack the fries like a tower in the container and have marinara sauce as its side. Or cover ‘em in melted cheese and pepperoni. Or both.

Let it Griddy - Let the fries float in the grease from side to side, much like “let it swim” in the original Bubble Bass order.

Wherever this hypothetical place is, there must be some crazy menu items.
