Ophelia escaped and is now wandering around, she’s too caught up in her broken mind to even notice something, or someone strange.

The drinks left him buzzing, a vice Yuki didn't indulge in often. It was the only thing that kept him from succumbing to every aura in the room. Yuki had garnered the attention of a handsome British man for the night, finally tearing himself away as he headed for the bar. And that's when he felt it.
It took him much longer than he'd like to admit to realize what it was. An aura, one that felt like charcoal and acrylic paint on his hands, like the burn of exhaustion in his eyes, like hunger for something -- anything. But above all, its core called to Yuki. It cut through the haze in his mind, though its origin escaped him. Details that slipped like sand through his fingers. Nothing but a glimpse of someone with dark hair and hazel eyes that always saw too much.
Yuki followed it, cursing the alcohol as he struggled to pinpoint this strange aura -- until he crashed directly into its owner, spilling their drink.
"Shit," he cursed, but the apology died on his lips when he saw this person's face, neon strobe lights dyeing those eyes of greenish-brown shades of pink, blue, white. Something pushed at those forbidden walls of black, a familiarity that was maddening but just beyond his reach, a name on the tip of his tongue. For a moment, Yuki stared, and then gave a slight shake of his head.
Tumblr media
"Sorry," he said at last. Somehow he was reluctant to let them leave, he was drawn to them, wanting nothing more than to clutch those details, just for a moment. Yuki reached out, not quite touching their arm. Gone was any semblance of his usual amusement, replaced by something uncharacteristically genuine. "Here -- let me buy you another one."

It had been fairly easy to get word to Liu Long Zhi. It seemed uncouth to hunt the disgraced Black Dragons heir down himself -- and so, Isen tasked a couple of his men with delivering the message, a simple request to meet. Thankfully, Long Zhi had spared him the trouble of escalation by agreeing.
Isen filled out paperwork as he waited, checking his watch sparingly. On the off chance Long Zhi didn't walk through the door, either he would have to pay for wasting Isen's time or his own men would shoulder the blame. To be fair or merciful was to be weak. Especially with...these people.
Two minutes before 3pm, the afternoon sunlight peering through the cracks in the curtains and casting dots on the ceiling, there was a knock on his door.
"Come," Isen called without looking up, and the door carefully opened.
"Sir," Tanaka said with a small bow. "Liu Long Zhi is here to see you."
"Send him in," Isen said, his tone almost bored, though he was anything but. He set the pen down and stood, having just buttoned the suit of his jacket when the heir himself appeared in the doorway, two of his own nervous henchmen lingering in the background.
Tumblr media
"Close the door behind you, if you would."
Once Long Zhi turned away, Isen scanned him in less than a second. By the way he moved, he was attentive, a man poised for action, clearly trained to be a fighter. That would serve Isen well, and he expected nothing less from a man who had been groomed to take the Black Dragons' throne. Of course, if his intelligence was accurate, Long Zhi was unlike any of the other men under Isen's employment.
"Thank you for coming," Isen said, inclining his head to the other, a corner of his lips quirked up in a gesture of peace. To shake the hand of someone with abilities was unwise, and Isen kept them behind his back. "You may call me Isen. Please, sit."
He gestured to a couple chairs and circled back to his own. Isen rested his hands on the desk in front of him, fixing Long Zhi with a neutral gaze, the harsh black of his eyes having warmed a bit. Intending to seem benevolent, perhaps even trustworthy, though a glint of that old sharpness still lurked beneath the surface. The kind that caught every detail, every weakness. The kind that made it clear why Isen was the boss.
"I'm sure you know why you're here," he began, always loathe to engage in small talk. "I would assume you've been invited to plenty of meetings, in light of recent events."

Word got around quickly that Yuki Reiou had defected from the Crimson Blades. Nobody knew the details, only that he'd joined the Red Fox Clan, a Chinese gang powerful enough to carry on an unofficial feud with the Black Dragons. Normally Chinese politics weren't the Serpents' problem -- but given Yuki's involvement with Isen and now Li Ming, things were changing.
Admittedly, Takashi didn't know much about Yuki. Some said he was Isen's son, through and through. Others said he was adopted, though most seemed in agreement that the heir to the Reiou throne was unworthy. Much to his disappointment, there was not much Shinsai could tell him about his past. Regardless of Yuki's relationship with Isen, he'd betrayed him. And for that reason, Takashi was willing to work with his new clan.
There was a strong gang member in the Red Foxes' midst. A man by the name of Zane, who he suspected was the same rank as his own lieutenant. He was known for his ruthlessness and cool demeanor, willing to spill blood whenever necessary. But once again, Takashi found himself in the dark when it came to finding information outside of rumors.
It wasn't a surprise when Li Ming sent his best man to the meeting point. Zane was tall, with a scar that wrapped around his neck, other scars on his face. He exuded a confident, intimidating air, calm as the slowly darkening clouds of a contained storm. Takashi was beginning to see how this man had earned his place at Li Ming's side.
Tumblr media
The restaurant was on neutral ground, filled with subdued chatter. Takashi stood, though he did not offer his hand. Instead, he gave a polite incline of his head, standing tall despite the way Zane towered over him.
"Zane, right?" He gestured to the opposite chair and took his own seat. "Thanks for coming. I hope it wasn't too out of your way."

starter for @toldfable !
" we have been stirring the pot for ages, " the statement is comical because not only have the pair been causing trouble since the day they discovered CHAOS, they've also been working on this concoction for the better part of the evening. the substance in the cauldron hardly looks any different than it did a half hour ago. eyes study the instructions scrawled on lived-in pages of an ancient tome. " nothing is missing... did we skip a step? " doubtful, as both she and silas pride themselves on being thorough. however, there's a first time for everything.

@feilien, continued from here
It was the first time he'd noticed the dog at Long Zhi's side. While he would've otherwise been embarrassed, Yuki smiled fondly at Bao, though he didn't reach out. With his ability impaired like this, it was hard enough to tell the intentions of people, let alone animals. And as Long Zhi continued, Bao remained quiet and still enough that Yuki mostly forgot about him all over again.
"You have no faith in me," Yuki said with an exaggerated roll of his eyes. The truth was, he was somewhat grateful, considering...
A memory prodded at his mind but Yuki was reluctant to let it come to light. Instead, they began to walk, and he kept to Long Zhi's other side. Yuki couldn't stop himself from talking, confident as he led the way to his apartment. But something slowed his feet and Yuki's voice trailed off. Without thinking, he looked to his left side, at a tall apartment building.
Tumblr media
His heart was hammering, mouth dry, and he looked forward without really seeing the sidewalk. He'd forgotten it was along this path. It took him much too long to make his body move. But he finally stepped around Long Zhi, unable to look at him.
"Let's go this way," he tried to sound like he had before, happy and energized, but his voice fell flat. That memory from earlier finally reared its head, and his gut twisted in a way that had nothing to do with the alcohol. Beige walls, popcorn ceiling, no lock on the door...Yuki drew in a shaking breath. You're okay.
Wasn't he?

❝ Dont’ skulk in the shadows. ❞ (to Tore from Geralt)
Tumblr media
"I don't skulk in the shadows," Tore grouched, skulking in the shadows beneath a pair of trees, watching Geralt with an intense, curious, but not malevolent stare. His hand was firmly wrapped around his staff, and he was poised on the balls of his feet like a cornered tomcat, as if his body hadn't made up its mind about fight or flight yet.
Geralt was clearly capable - Tore could tell that much. And he was both unknown and approaching the places he kept to himself, secret places where he practiced magics many considered unclean, unholy, or profane. Raising the dead; necromancy. He couldn't quite tell if the stranger was hunting for him, or something else, but it was rare that anyone came this far into the woods without purpose, and the purpose was often harassing him.
Still, he forced himself to take a couple of steps out from under the boughs of ash and blackthorn, and make himself quite clear to the approaching figure, lest he decide to use any of his array of weapons on Tore. "You have nothing to fear from me," said the necromancer, even though his hand was itching to rest upon the wicked dragon-shaped blade at his hip. "But do I have anything to fear from you?"
