OFFtober Day 9 - "Fangames/AU" So many fangames I love, so little time! I decided to doodle up some characters I particularly enjoy from just a handful of the fangames I've played. Wish I could draw everyone tho
Tate and Cinnamon Glaze from RISE The villain and the hero! I like how they both are wearing their ties weird. Tate is wearing a t-shirt and just has the tie directly around his neck. Cracks me up!
Buttons and Doux from ONE The living toy and it's owner! I find it so funny that Buttons often tanks more enemy attacks since it's the second party member, and RPGmaker is just like that. In my head it's because Buttons would do anything to protect Doux in Zacharie's absence ;0;
Puppeteer and Seneca from UNKNOWN The hero and the villain! I just adore these two's designs, they're classic. The design is the only thing I like about Seneca tho, diabolical little thing XD
Daren and Danny from START The scarred twins, I love them so much. They deserve to be happy, and I get all teary-eyed when I think about Daren specifically. I like that they both use knives as their weapons, so I included one in the drawing that Daren's holding.
Pilot and Navigator from CONFINIUM These two,, lord do I adore them. CONFINIUM is such a gorgeous game, and the care put into Pilot and Nav's designs and dynamic is obvious. I enjoy these sillies and this game so much.
Anthony and The Mechanic from ALIVE Just obsessed with the creativity involved in making these two characters. Mechanic is so fun to draw, and I really enjoy Anthony's story. I wanna give the shy guy a big hug.

RatlessHonret's (Totally Biased) Ranking of RPG-Maker Horror* Games
Tumblr media
*Some games, namely Yume Nikki/2kki and OFF, may be argued to not be "horror" games. However, I included them because, even if they do not fit the genre of RPG-Maker Horror, they are both adjacent to and incredibly influential upon the genre
This is gonna be a long post. But I love RPG-Maker Horror. I've loved it for a long time. So I decided, why not take every one I've played, and put them in one big tier list of Twenty-Three Games.
Below the cut, I'm going to explain my rankings of each game. So if you disagree with me, then uh. At least read that first, and then mald in the comments about OFF only being C or some random shit nobody has ever heard of making it into A.
(Also, every game will have a link to download/buy in this post, in case one interests you)
Pocket Mirror / Pocket Mirror ~ GoldenerTraum 10/10 Creator: Astral Shift Original Release: July 22, 2016 (Free!) GoldenerTraum Release: February 6, 2023 ($20 USD)
Originally released in 2016, I was just the right age for this game to leave a massive impression on my psyche. This game has shaped who I am as a person in ways that I'm still just coming to understand (like possible plurality?)
A young girl wakes up in a room with no memory of who she is or what she must do. With nothing but a Pocket Mirror in her possession, and a voice telling her to keep her memories close to her heart, she must navigate a frightening world full of the unknown and the untrustworthy.
The music? Amazing. The graphics? For the time, amazing, and only improved in the remaster. The story? Top tier for a game of its kind. Characters? Super memorable. The scares are not that great, but honestly you don't play any of the games on this list for the horror.
I love every single thing about this game. It changed who I am as a person for the better, and has become the lens through which I view most things in my life. I frequently refer to it as my favorite game of all time, because it is.
This game is also the axis upon which every other game on this list is judged. If a game is a 5/10, it does not mean its a 5/10 game necessarily, just that it is when I compare it to Pocket Mirror.
So please, play Pocket Mirror. I beg of you.
.flow 10/10 Creator: lolrust Original Release: February 15, 2009 (Free!)
The single best Yume Nikki Fangame (ynfg) ever released, in my humble opinion. A combination of small worlds, a hostile feeling environment, and a general eerie ambience make this game an unsettling one to walk around in.
The game follows the traditional Yume Nikki formula. Go to computer, enter dream world, walk around, see random shit, gather effects, get endings.
The smallness is what I enjoy about this game. Some other ynfgs (and even the original) tend to have massive worlds, and a lot of them at that. It isn't as though navigation in .flow isn't confusing, but its not as much of a chore as a game that makes you run for two hours to get anywhere.
The story is also not clear. Up to interpretation. Kind of like the original Yume Nikki before they made a bunch of stuff trying to add a story to it and canonize fan theories, or whatever is happening with that game. lolrust has been very cagey about a lot of aspects of the "plot" to the game, and aside from occasional talks of a potential sequel, the game has been dormant for about six years now, with its last update in 2019.
If any developer mastered the Yume Nikki formula and made it into something I actively enjoy playing, its lolrust. I have to give massive props to them for making such a great game. (Also, I gotta support fellow enbies in gamedev when I can)
Lily's Well 10/10 Creator: PureIceBlue Original Release: January 4, 2022 ($10 USD)
A delightful little body-horror focused mindfuck of a game. In fact, if you like body horror, this may be the best game on this list. And there's lots of bonus content beyond the game as well, such as the Lily's Birthday video, for those who really wanna delve deep into the lore.
A young girl is home alone, and hears a voice coming from her well outside. She must gather materials for a rope, to descend deep into the well. But what is truly at the bottom?
This game's story is told brilliantly, and the twist really is a horrifying one to think about for too long. I don't wanna say too much, so I'll just recommend you to play it for yourself. Its only like, 3-4 hours long at most.
I Cannot Drown 9/10 Creator: PureIceBlue Original Release: June 30, 2019 (Free!)
A sort of prequel to Lily's Well, I Cannot Drown is a game about trying to be returned to the mortal realm. Another body horror adventure, this game focuses a lot more on the eerie ambience typical of the ynfg genre.
Honestly, there isn't much to say. Its a ynfg, there's body horror, you know the deal. Though I must say, it is probably the only ynfg to genuinely creep me out. So pick it up, its free, and play for a few hours. It isn't that long.
Ib 8/10 Creator: kouri Original Release: February 27, 2012 (Free!) Remake Release: April 11, 2022 ($13 USD)
You know this game. I don't even need to explain it, honestly.
What is there to say about Ib? It's Ib. Better puzzles than usual for an RPG Maker Horror experience (though not quite top tier imo), an interesting story, INCREDIBLY charming characters, and its just. Fun to play, I find.
I get why this game is a classic I have dissed on it too hard over the years, I've come to learn.
Cat in the Box 8/10 Creator: Gustav Original Release: May 1, 2020 ($7 USD)
This is probably one of the most confusing games on the list in terms of placement for many. This small game, which many have never heard of, getting this high of a placement on the list?
You are a content creator for an unspecified video sharing platform, looking to hit it big. So, you decide to head to a haunted house, said to be home to a cult that mysteriously disappeared. In your chase of the content, you become trapped inside, and must find your way out.
In a nutshell, this game is a twist on the typical "girl gets stuck in big house with scary killer" genre of RPG Maker Horror. However, the twists, turns, and visuals within this game make it an interesting take on the formula. The art that is original is good, which more than makes up for the default assets that make up the majority of the game (which imo, isn't much of a negative in the first place.)
Give it a look if you have some free time. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Project Kat - Paper Lily Prologue 8/10 Creator: Leef 6010 Original Release: October 15, 2021 (Free!)
Another smaller game, with less of a fanbase. I want to be clear that I haven't found the time to play the game to which this is a prologue, of which the first chapter came out... semi-recently.
An occultism-obsessed girl sneaks into her school at night, looking to perform a ritual to test its validity. As a skeptic, she doubts it'll work, but tries it out regardless.
I love the writing in this game. The characters are strong, there's some cute moments, and it gets appropriately fearsome if you follow the intended path to the "true" ending.
Though honestly, this is one of those games where the true ending is so depressing I almost want some of the happier alternate endings to be canon instead. Either way, its a fun way to kill some hours, and a good take on a classic formula. You can't go wrong with that.
Little Goody Two Shoes 8/10 Creator: Astral Shift Original Release: October 31, 2023 ($20 USD)
Going to be up front: This game was saved from a 7 rating by it being Pocket Mirror's prequel.
Elise is a girl tired of living in her boring old town with her annoying neighbors. So she does what any reasonable person would do: partakes in a deal with a demon. What will happen next? Find out for yourself.
This game for sure has its issues, but I love it. The art is phenomenal, and the story is great. My main issues come from how much dialogue you need to skip through on replaying for endings and some of the puzzles being a bit obtuse and annoying.
Overall, I do love this game. I may have overhyped myself for it, causing a touch of disappointment when it wasn't literally a perfect game, but I think anyone playing it will heavily enjoy their time with the game if they're inclined to liking these sorts of games (which, if you're reading this post, you probably do)
Sorry, We're Open + No Delivery 7/10 Creator: Oates Original Release (SWO): February 17, 2023 ($8 USD) Original Release (ND): September 26, 2019 ($5 USD)
The first "VCRPGs" by Oates on this list, these two games are being ranked as a pair due to their similarities with each other and my identical overall ranking of the two. I'd say Sorry, We're Open is a bit stronger overall, but not enough to bump it up a point for me.
No Delivery follows a pizza restaurant in the 80's, with a mysterious past and odd rumors floating around. As a roguelike, your job is to delve deeper into the pizzeria, gaining more knowledge with each new employee you control.
Sorry, We're Open is a very similar premise, although following a retail store instead.
These two games sort of blend together in my mind, but I think you'll know if you like them just on sight. The aesthetics are good, the writing is good, and overall I really enjoy these games for what they are.
The Boogie Man 6/10 Creator: Uri Games Original Release: Feb 13, 2018 ($3 USD)
The third game in the "Strange Men" series, you follow a detective sent on vacation to an old castle by your boss. As you're there, your strained relationship with your wife comes to a head, your past comes to haunt you, and some fucking guy is also trying to kill people or whatever.
This is much closer to "classic" RPG Maker Horrors than some of the previous entries on this list. Many endings, obscure requirements, and frequent tropes that aren't as common now as they used to be.
Overall, this game is my favorite in the series. Its very rough around the edges, but has enough intrigue to it that I don't mind it so much after getting used to it.
Ann 6/10 Creator: Rong Rong Original Release: August 26, 2021 (Free!)
This game, while short, has a lot of charm to it. The art is great, and the story, while maybe a weak point of the game, does have its moments for sure.
An art student named Ann is locked in her school after hours, and strange events begin to occur. As she's helped by the security guard, she must uncover the history behind the school and attempt to escape with her life.
Overall, this game's main strength is just the charm it carries. Its very earnest in a way I love. And as mentioned earlier, the art really carries it. If you're just looking for a free, low-energy way to pass a night, this game is perfectly good. Who knows, you may end up liking it even more than I do.
Turtle Head / Turtle Head Unmasked 6/10 Creator: Pikasprey Original Release: May 3, 2016 (Free!) Unmasked Release: May 9, 2021 (Free!)
What happens when a YouTuber known for making RPG Horror content decides to create his own RPG Horror game? The answer is a veritable love-letter to the genre, with enough of a following to create a fanmade (and officially endorsed) remake five years later.
You and your friends sneak into school after hours to look into rumors about whether or not it is haunted. Along the way, you encounter spooks, scares, and the titular Turtle Head.
This game is practically the definition of traditional. As I mentioned, it is basically a love letter to the classics of the late-2000's to early-2010's. And while many of its ideas are old, they're executed rather well, and the game has no lack of charm to back those ideas up.
If you want to play a nice homage to games of eras past, both the original release and the remake are free to play whenever you want, and only take an estimated 2 or so hours to clear. I think the short length is actually the only thing holding it back from being even higher on this list for me.
(Also, this ranking is totally biased by my being a Pikasprey fan, and him having been what got me into this genre in the first place all those years ago)
Nobody's Home 6/10 Creator: Oates Original Release: March 25, 2020
Another "VCRPG" by Oates, this game is much shorter than the ones higher up this list. However, it carries the exact same style as the games before, albeit with slightly different gameplay.
After a rager of a party, you wake up in a house, and must wander around to figure out why... Nobody's Home.
I think the short length of this game compared to the other two is the only reason I placed it so low compared to them. If this game were much longer, I'd place it higher. But if you want a bite-sized Oates experience to introduce yourself to these "VCRPGs," then this is the place to look.
OFF 5/10 Creator: Mortis Ghost Original Release: May 14, 2008 (Free!) Remake Release: 2025 (Not Yet Released)
This ranking may be divisive. I don't think I even need to explain what OFF is, since you've probably heard of it if you're reading this.
I don't dislike OFF. I simply don't find much enjoyment in it, either. That's why I give it a perfect 5/10. Middle of the road for the genre, to me. I also have no nostalgia for this game, having only first experienced it like... last year?
I get why people love it, and if you haven't tried it you totally should, but its just not for me.
Coffin of Ashes 5/10 Creator: Ladomu Original Release: December 8, 2016 ($7 USD)
Another one very few have probably heard of.
Tell me if you've heard this one before: A girl gets caught in the rain, takes shelter in a mansion, and has spooky stuff happen.
The art of the game is really good, which makes up for all the default assets used. The plot is also pretty good, which is this game's saving grace to becoming memorable for me.
...Until the end. Honestly, the game really drops the ball with the plot in the last, like, five minutes. Which is the only reason this game isn't a 6 or maybe even a 7.
Overall, this is a good one to check out if you've played through a bunch of other games like this and are looking for something new to play. One of those "make fun of it but because you kind of like it" kind of games.
The Witch's House / The Witch's House MV 4/10 Creator: Fummy Original Release: October 3, 2012 (Free!) MV Release: October 31, 2018 ($15 USD)
The classic of classics, this game exploded when it released, and really served as an inspiration for the entire genre.
Which means it, to me, suffers the problem of "everything in the genre was inspired by it, so by the time i first experienced it, it felt super basic and bland"
I get why it is important! And why people still like it! I just, like some others on this list, have no nostalgia for it and wasn't gripped by the plot or characters or art. Or really anything about it. Maybe if I had seen it earlier, or it had been my first RPG Maker Horror, like it was for so many others, I would like it more.
As it stands, this game is a classic, for better and for worse.
The Sand Man + The Crooked Man 4/10 Creator: Uri Games Original Release (SM): February 28, 2014 ($3 USD) Original Release (CM): April 1, 2013 ($3 USD)
The first two games in the Strange Men series, The Crooked Man and The Sand Man are basically one long game in my mind. So I ranked them together.
These are also classics among classics, albeit maybe not to the level of OFF or Witch's House. Overall these games are fine, but suffer for their age.
Both games are obviously dated, using tropes and design elements characteristic of early-2010's RPG Maker Horror games. But they're good overall, with decent enough plots and art. I'd say give them a try if you have a spare afternoon or two to play through them. (There are also ways to get the original versions of these games for free, but from what I can tell the Steam versions are identical. You can search out those other versions if you don't wanna blow six bucks on them)
Yume Nikki 3/10 Creator: kikiyama Original Release: June 26, 2004
This may end up being the most controversial placing on this list. A THREE? FOR YUME NIKKI? JUST WHO ARE YOU???
I don't like this game. I'm sorry but I don't. And I won't go on a long diatribe about how its actually bad or anything, because that'd be boring, but I just don't.
I think this game suffers from what came after. Every subsequent attempt to make some "official" Yume Nikki thing that came after was terrible. And in my mind it made the original less and less interesting over time. It also just suffers from oversaturation to me.
Finally, there's just SO MANY ynfgs out there that are better. There's not much reason to play the original, in my mind.
So, let me give you a list of Games I'd Rather Play: .flow answered prayers deep dreams muma|rope amillusion dream genie mikan muzou
Ao Oni 2/10 Creator: noprops Original Release*: October 2008 (Free!) Remake Release: July 25, 2024 ($10 USD) *no link is given for the reason of too many versions of the game to choose which one i want to link as the "definitive" one
If you read my sections on OFF, Witch's House, Ib, and Yume Nikki, then you'd know why I don't like this game. Its kind of a combination of all of the above, to be honest.
No nostalgia, not gripped by the art or plot, and kind of milked to death after release, as well as being oversaturated in the culture of those who play these games.
Truly suffering from success, I'd say. Though to be honest, this game really feels like a relic of its time to me. Something better left in the past.
But maybe to some, its more of a treasure of a bygone era.
Mad Father 2/10 Creator: Sen Original Release: December 10, 2012 (Free!) Remake Release: September 23, 2016 ($10 USD)
Where to start? A plot that I remember as "confused," a remake that was plagued with bugs on release, and a cultural impact that I'd best describe as "overrated," Mad Father is obviously, by its ranking, a game I have never enjoyed.
You've heard me say this all a lot, but: No nostalgia, not gripped by the plot, and not caring for the fandom. Truly a triple-threat.
I don't want to keep talking shit about Mad Father, because I know fans of it are probably reading this, but it is one of three games on this list I genuinely do not like.
And the third game is...
Yume 2kki 1/10 Creator: Various Original Release: May 26, 2007

A Long Rant About The Koffin Trio
Note: So, this is my first (really) long post about this fangame, and to be honest, I was debating whether or not to even publish it. I still decided to do it since not a lot of folks talk about ts!underswap, and I wanted to give my two cents regarding my three favorite characters.
More important note: If you think it's gonna trigger you to read about Harry/Larry and Harry/Larry/KK as a found family, better click off this post. Maybe it's my inner aroace speaking, but I personally don't see the romantic appeal at all. Good for you if you do! I'm not trying to invalidate anyone's opinion; diversity is great after all :)
For those of you who are still here, I will start off by saying this:
Harry and Larry depend on Count Koffin-K for so much. I'm tempted to say EVERYTHING.
He genuinely feels like their father figure. I mean, this sentient fedora gave them a job while they were both living lives that were... bad.
He isn't cruel when they do something stupid and instead just looks deadpan. Sure, Koffin-K's not a perfect boss; he yells at the two of them and insults them (dude really needs to work on his temper), but I found it sweet how both Harry and Larry felt safe enough to tell him the truth here, which to me counts for something (pun intended) ↓
Tumblr media
He even pranks them sometimes ↓
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Koffin may not be perfect (he's gotta keep up the "evil" persona) but at least he 1) tries to give Harry and Larry a hint that he cares for them (has them both secretly do his laundry without them telling each other) 2) actually admits that he cares for them both equally (in his own way) 3) attempts to solve their disagreement despite him not gaining anything out of it
How they met is also interesting to me.
Based on their backstory, Harry and Larry were clearly hesitant to work for Koffin, but when they actually started the job the next day, I imagine that their conversation went something like this (either during the first day or at some point early on in their career):
H: "Larry, he could be like the dad we never had and provide for us and we could have all da money that we never did, see?"
L: "Huhuhu, yeah! Don't forgets da food!"
...and that's how the parade float came to be. I think Koffin secretly appreciates they made it, even though he says how he wanted the thing "as far away as possible" right after saying this line ↓
Tumblr media
He also makes this face later on at the festival when he sees the float again cause it reminds him that the three of them are a family despite Harry and Larry getting on his nerves half the time but I can't include the screenshot bc of the picture limit
Heck, the two even built their house outside the keep, which to me suggests that they don’t ever plan on leaving Koffin.
Harry does mention his mother, and we learn that he's into embroidery (both making me think he's a a 'mama's boy'; maybe she taught him how to embroider)...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...but even on the ts!us wiki, the only relationship dynamic the two have is with Koffin-K himself.
Weirdly enough, we only know that Harry has a mom, but not a dad
Tumblr media
Even though he was definitely unaware of this, Koffin liked Harry and Larry FOR BEING THEMSELVES. This is really important to me.
He saw something in them that others did not, even if it was initally just "your names rhyme and you give me the 'goofy henchmen' vibe." He sees them both as useful for what he needs them for. It may not be much, but it's exactly what Koffin's looking for.
In other words:
THE WAY HARRY AND LARRY ARE IS ENOUGH FOR COUNT KOFFIN-K. I mean, why look at resumes of competent potential employees when you can hire two idiots who are just as goofy as you
Exactly why Harry and Larry are so loyal to Koffin-K is unknown, but based on my interpretation, it has to do with 1) them desperately needing a father figure/someone to rely on 2) Koffin giving Harry and Larry a home, food, money, and a job that also allows them to slack off and finally enjoy life, and 3) him making them feel needed. Maybe not appreciated, even though he subtly tried to, but definitely needed. Serving under him became their purpose.
In other words, I think they're so loyal because Koffin "chose" them, even if he did that subconsciously.
Harry got the chance to be more than just a janitor. Imo, he was hesitant to work for Koffin at first because he was afraid that he would lose the only sense of security he had. I think he lived with his mom at the time, considering his low-wage job This explains why he wants to be rich (to make up for all the things he couldn't afford).
It also explains why Larry loves food so much (he literally slept under a dumpster bag and if he was both homeless AND unemployed, it would mean that he had to either be a beggar or eat from the trash. Either way, eating good food was out of the question.
It's also possible that Larry had a janitor job just like Harry (but unlike him, nowhere to live). I say that he might have been a janitor, since Koffin mentions how they could both do better than mopping floors forever, but maybe it was just an assumption on Koffin's side.
Whatever the case, their lives sucked.
There was also this one moment I wanna talk about, where Larry called Koffin-K stupid, and Harry pretty much agreed. So I asked myself why they reacted this way.
Tumblr media
Maybe because it was easier to convince themselves that they didn't care about their boss than deal with the fact that he (maybe) always saw them as nothing but 'lowly servants'.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seriously, Harry said out loud what they both wanted most of all. And that something was for Koffin-K to value them. This was more important to them than money and food COMBINED, considering their entire arc was about learning that Koffin needed them both equally
Maybe they were worried about getting fired, but I honestly don't think Koffin ever wanted to do that to them, no matter how many times they messed up.
Maybe they didn't want to be honest and admit to Koffin that he's a total dumbass so they wouldn't get in trouble with him. I mean, they did want to gain his validation/appreciation/approval/love, so it makes sense that they would do anything to get and remain in his good books.
I think the third scenario is the most likely one, tbh.
Tumblr media
Might be a nitpick, but notice how Harry and Larry are walking next to each other here, but Koffin-K's at the back, just sorta... isolated, like he's not their equal? This is why I'd rather see him as their father figure than an older brother. The way I look at it, the oldest sibling is usually in charge, yeah, but there's still a level of closeness and familiarity between the siblings, whereas Harry and Larry hardly know anything about Koffin-K, ESPECIALLY how lonely he really is. Koffin's the one who gave them a purpose, became their boss, and as a result, they began looking up to him. In contrast, the two spend 24/7 together, bicker, and are practically inseparable, like brothers
Larry also explains how Koffin-K doesn't like leaving his study, but clearly neither Harry nor Larry reflected on why that is and just assumed it's because Koffin's 'stupid.' This reaction kinda rubbed me the wrong way at first, but then I remembered both of these dudes are street rats who don't know any better.
Look, I know the Boogiemen were supposed to fit this common "goofy villain's sidekicks" trope, but both of them clearly grew up in poor conditions, have daddy issues (imo), and feel worthless/useless.
That's why they want Koffin-K's attention so badly.
They need a father figure to reassure them that they're useful, important, and loved.
All this makes them three-dimensional and relatable, just like most UT/DR/UTY characters. It feels like everyone in these games goes through some kind of deep arc, and I feel like this is supposed to be the Boogiemen's
Sure, Harry and Larry are funny at first glance, and they're great at being comic reliefs, but at their core, they are misguided guys who come from poverty/homelessness. I kinda wish the feisty four from uty had more going for them just so I could psychoanalyze them all
Even though it's probably been a few years since they joined Koffin, at least some part of Harry and Larry doesn't seem to believe that they can finally enjoy themselves, even if it means doing hooligan stuff and boring chores. That's why they're 'superficial' and goof off and will grab any opportunity to act childish and materialistic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A typical case of age regression
What lies beyond the surface is incredibly sad to me.
Now, this is sort of like a bonus section bc I want to explain WHY exactly I see Harry & Larry as brothers, and WHY I think they see Koffin as a dad again, maybe it's bc I'm aroace and I see family relationships everywhere, but the stuff below REALLY REALLY reminds me of these types of dynamics:
Tumblr media
They threw insults at each other and had a literal fistfight over which one of them Koffin appreciated/liked more
Tumblr media
They cried HARD (of joy) when Koffin told them they're both equally useful and useless, so they no longer had to be at each other's throats. He also said how he recognized that they're passionate about being his lackeys, even if their teamwork needed, well, work
Tumblr media
I think it's sweet how they built the float 'within their first days of henchmenry,' according to KK. They could have easily NOT included him, but had apparently warmed up to him pretty soon
Tumblr media
Harry wanted to call Koffin to save them + I love how he's CERTAIN he'll do it
Tumblr media
Both yelled for Koffin (reminds me of Axis calling out for Chujin for some reason)
Tumblr media
Larry called Koffin Keep their home (could have easily said that they left it at the keep...reminds me of the times Starlo called The Wild East Clover's home I really need to stop with the uty parallels)
Tumblr media
They cheered for him (and got hit in the face with books)
Tumblr media
They get in trouble with him
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They apparently copied two of his attacks these 3 are so similar except that Koffin is a more 'head in the clouds' kind of goofy while Harry & Larry are more grounded... but still goofy
Tumblr media
And this line... "And quit arguing, you two!" sounded so parental, istg
I forgot to mention some stuff:
After Koffin tells everyone to go to the festival, Harry and Larry quickly look left and right, like they're wondering where he is and/or what to do now that he isn't there. Poor guys really are dependent on him and like to be in his presence
They talked about Koffin a LOT throughout this game. Their conversations are either about 1) Koffin and what they're gonna do to please him, 2) Them bickering, or 3) Some shenanigans they get themselves into. Larry even remembers how Koffin-K always says: "If you're slacking, put some hustle into it"
Koffin doesn't treat any other lackey the way he does Harry and Larry, and none of the other lackeys seek his admiration like the two do
Harry and Larry were both jealous af of Chara for getting all the attention (right after they got into Koffin's study Harry said "Now whaddya need us in here for, see?" and I immediately thought that he wanted to add "you have a new favorite child lacky now so why don't assign more chores TO THEM")
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like I'm not sure if they were meant to come across to us players as a family but for some reason that's how they came across to me since day 1
The actual reason why I see them in this light is not just bc I love found family (even tho I do. a lot), but bc I feel like it would give Harry & Larry more depth than a romance between any of them

Alright, here goes nothing!
Here is an early version of the like opening scene/sequence of The Last of Us: Unbroken (my tlou fangame concept that takes place between parts 1 and 2 and also parallel to part 2 and expands on the ending)
Opening credits/panning to mountains around Jackson in winter with text
Showing how pretty it is
An unknown male figure, looks to be maybe a year older than Ellie is in tlou part 1, wearing a flannel, coat, jeans, and a cowboy hat looking out at the mountains with binoculars, back turned, hoof prints leading away from him
Voices snap his head around.
Joel: “I still ain’t sure about you being out here, kiddo.”
Ellie: “Well, you’re with me. You saying you can’t keep me safe, old man?”
Joel: [scoffs] “Ellie. Anything could happen.”
The unknown character curses under his breath, and whirls around, clearly looking for something…camera focuses on the hoofprints and a broken branch where a horse has gotten loose.
?: “shit. Ranger, you sneaky bastard”
[player can now move]
?: [to himself] “I gotta find Ranger and get the hell out before I get caught.”
Ellie: “Besides, Tommy said it’s just one rider.”
Joel: [scoffs softly, but his voice is amused] “It’s never just one, Ellie. Now c’mon.”
Ellie: “Yeah. Let’s see what all the fucking fuss is about and go home, it’s freezing.”
[stealth sequence hiding behind trees while listening to Ellie and Joel’s conversation about someone being sighted up here while following the tracks in the snow]
[Idle dialogue] ‘dammit Ranger… where are you, boy?’ ‘Of all the times…’
[Finds horse]
[cutscene reuniting, pressing his forehead to the horse’s muzzle] ‘Dammit bud, you can’t wander off like that’
The horse snorts and gives him away
He’s surrounded. “…shit.”
[cutscene cuts to Ellie and Joel, dialogue undetermined as of yet]
More coming soon!! 🔁 and feedback are much MUCH appreciated ^^

HELLO??? THE SPRITES??
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THIS SASSY FUCKER, UNDYNE TOLD THEM "SURRENDER YOUR SOUL" AND KRIS WAS LIKE "Okay but actually what about no", I HAVE SOOO MANY COMIC IDEAS THANKS TO THIS SECTION I'M PAUSING MY UNDERTALE RIBBON COMIC BECAUSE I JUST H A V E TO GET THEM DONE
Ejem
I believe Kris wasn't even planning to actually surrender their soul because they now they're gonna die anyways, they just did this to scare off Undyne and get time to play teather kid, do their little cool speech and jump into the new unknown world fully knowing Susie and Noelle will follow
I really like their take on Kris here and I also like how, in the fangame, they're getting more and more control of themselves after talking with Susie and Noelle, they got their eye and started to emote more I love how they took action and just jumped onto Sans, I would've killed him if it wasn't for the lore, going back to kill him tomorrow
They didn't put the soul back on before jumping so I believe we're not controlling Kris for a little part in section 4, or maybe they will talk with us, I'm REALLY looking forward to the next update!

Speedy The Porcupine AU: Yandere Himiko.
(Sketch not done by me)
The offical equivalent to Sonic.EXE in the Speedy The Porcupine AU. For more information about the AU as a whole, click here.
Yandere Himiko a self-aware version of herself who acts like... a typical yandere. Acting friendly and normal at first before revealing who she really is.
There's multiple interpretations of Yandere Himiko, but the most recent interpretation is that she ocasionally wanders around cosplay conventions and other places similar to that, going under the alias of "PixelLovely". Once she sees a potential love intrest, she'll act casually, greeting herself in a friendly manner, after hanging out with them for a while, she'll give the love interest either a Speedy the Porcupine cartridge or disk.
The game on this cartridge/disk has her torture Mr. Benedict in several ways until the player gets to the end, where Yan-Himiko will reveal herself, telling the player that she is their "girlfriend", in other words, that they love her. If the player declines their confession. She'll get mad, and claim that she is their soulmate. And then, she'll trap the player in the game, it's unknown what she does to them after this.
The other common interpretation is that the game will play exactly the same as the first game, execpt when the player gets to the end, where the game will glich out and Yan-Himiko will reveal herself.
Yan-Himiko's (in-universe) origins came from a creepypasta known as "A Young Girl's Game" written by a user called MC The Weasel. The story follows a man named Ryan, who recives a mysterious cartridge from his friend John. I actually did write this in-universe creepypasta too, it can be read here:
The creepypasta wasn't very well received, and was often mocked and criticised for it's poor quality. A fangame based on it was also released shortly after the story was made, said fangame was also slightly criticised, but regardless, it was pretty popular.
Despite the criticisms, it didn't stop people from making their own takes on Yandere Himiko, and their own Yan-Himiko fangames too.
The official (in-universe) takes include:
Koibito
A creepier version of Yan-Himiko that made her debut in Speedy PC Edition. Featuring red eyes with heart pupils, a messy version of her OG outfit, an X-shaped version of her bowtie, and a grey version of her red suspender skirt.
2011 Yan-Himiko
The current version of Yandere Himiko, and Koibito's past incarnation, the only notible difference between this one and the OG is that this one has a grey suspender skirt like Koibito does.
"Himiko"/2017 Yan-Himiko
Originally made for a remake of the OG story before the character became under the ownership of a different user. This one is a rather off-looking Himiko. Having a porcelain-doll like body, blanked out eyes, and missing a lot of her acessories. Leaving her with only her white shirt and skirt.
You better love her and believe she's the real Himiko, because if you don't, there will be consequences.
Another popular peice of media was a mod for the rhythm game Rap Jam Saturday titled "VS. Yandere Himiko". Where the protagonist of said game must battle against the tutual yandere and other characters. The mod inspired a few other Yan-Himiko mods to be created. The most notible one was a bait-and-switch mod called PorcuPop/Himiko Legacy, featuring the current incarnation and the "Himiko" versions of Yan-Himiko.
Misc. Info
Yan-Himiko's canon voice is "distorted, and uses a much slower, creepier cadence."
The most noticible difference between normal Himiko and Yandere Himiko is that Yan-Himiko has freckles.
She wouldn't hurt her animal friends. She may be a Yandere, but that doesn't mean she'd suddenly kill everyone.
Many takes set within Speedy's world have her fall in love with Speedy himself, though a lot of people do it in the platonic sense.
Anyone is welcome to ask questions about the AU or do concepts for the AU of course.

it has occurred to me that i've never actually explained what zampanio. is? here
like, i reblog things with zampanio all the time, but i've never actually explained what that means lol
so ok uhhhhhhh 5 am crimson rambles go
ok. so there's this game, from like, the 70s or 80s i think, called zampanio. no one knows what it's really ABOUT besides that it's supposedly really fucking weird. there's also no documentation about it too far in the past, because apparently stuff about this has a tendency to just. disappear. and the people that KNOW a lot about it seem to either vanish or fly off the fucking handle. which is already wacky enough. but, like, the main thing about zampanio is that since the source material is so unknown beyond, like, the vaguest vibes, there's a billion different unrelated fangames about it with nothing in common besides some vague thematic elements? like, there's zampaniosim, which is this massive sprawling network of god knows what that has like, twenty billion different fictional characters from other games in it i think? i heard something about magnus archives and lobotomy corp and i don't understand most of it but it seems very cool. and there's also some rpg maker game someone made called zam2anio? and i played it for like 10 minutes and it's incomprehensible but in the best way. and there's also this discord server that is like, also a puzzle or something? and that's its own thing? and also leads into other things, maybe??? it's insane. but the really cool part is that since the source material is just. Not. you can kinda just go hog wild with different things in different fandoms and have it still be A Zampanio Thing. i'm currently retooling a mario fanfic i came up with literally in elementary school into A Zampanio Thing. it doesn't matter what fandom you're in, you caj make it zampanio. it's genuinely very cool and unique and i like it a lot. i'm not very caught up on a lot of the individual things people have been making but the vibes are immaculate and it ends up making this massive nonsense patchwork of a fandom that somehow all fits together, and just, it's the best
so yeah, go check out zampanio if you haven't already, look it up, play/read/look at some of the stuff people have made, maybe make your own zampanio thing if you wanna, you won't regret it. probably. unless you turn into a monster or something, except actually if you did you probably wouldn't regret it anyway because you'd be a monster so whatever

Alchemists Apathy Character Bio: William Afton
Tumblr media
Some of you may forget this guy exists, and that's because The Mimic is cooler, but really, who cares? ... me, I do.
Ah yes, William Afton. That one guy that many people mischaracterize so heavily I think it has probably become a sport at how much people mischaracterize him. It's sad but hey, what are you gonna do? For those who have lived under a rock or are like "THEY GAVE PURPLE GUY A NAME?!?" William Afton was the series antagonist for the first six games and even now, there are people still suffering at the hands of William, thanks The Mimic... asswipe. William Afton was once known as The Purple Guy because back during the first four games, Scott didn't really bother to name him. Why would he? The story back then was pretty simple to follow, guy kills kids, kids haunt robots, and then there's a bunch of fire everywhere. Nowadays, Afton is known for having honestly a really good personality that many people just overlook it and don't care. Such is the way of the fandom I suppose.
A lot of people tend to just not give William a motive. "Can't a girl have a hobby?" they would say. Now, I think that's true... if you are telling a more simple story. With a story as complex as Fnaf 1-UCN, the guy should have a motive instead of just "Uh oh, I fell down into the sewers, guess I'm evil!" (this is a funny reference no one will get). It's what differentiates him from a lot of other murderers, it actually gives him character. Yes, I am well aware that irl serial killers do not have motives and just go on mass killing sprees to get off or something, but this is fiction with a funny blue rabbit that is a boy but has a girls name, give the guy a motive. In this AU, Afton's motives are very similar to his canon incarnation (because there was nothing wrong with canon William y'all are just haters) but since fangames are canon, I sprinkled in some fanon elements to the character as well.
William Afton was born in an unspecified date in the good ol town of, and you guessed it, Oklahoma. Why Oklahoma? I don't know I just thought the name sounded cool. William was born into a fairly rich family that would eventually lose their fortune to unknown circumstances, with the father later dying out of shock. William was raised and loved by many because he was rich, but it wasn't the money that went to William's head, it was the attention. William grew fascinated by the attention, he had many friends that weren't exactly his friends, they just wanted his families money. His parents fed into his delusion, leading him to be the man you see today... William met up with Henry around high school as they both shared a love for old Disney movies and cartoons, in fact, they both went on a trip to Disneyland at one point, witnessing a traumatizing event with one of the mascot performers. William never kept up with Disney after this, apparently he heard they had a track record for strange occurrences (something about an island? He didn't really care), but this event somewhat left and impression on William. William eventually met Melody sometime around the sixties, with them eventually having sex in a storage closet at some theater and that was the deed that had Michael. When William found out that Melody was pregnant, he didn't know what to do. He never had something like this before, he was more angry that it happened rather than shocked. He married Melody because Henry said he had to. "It's the right thing" Henry said, so William did it. This wasn't the start of the facade of William's "perfect" family, but it was a small factor.
William had noticed that everything wasn't like the way it should be when it was a child. He didn't have many friends, he had coworkers, Henry had many friends, Henry was popular. Just to be clear here, sorry Willry fans, it ain't happening. They have wives, though, if it helps anything, William is pansexual and Henry is bisexual. I do joke that if it were to happen, it would either be doomed yaoi or VERY toxic yaoi so take that as you will. Back to the character, William viewed Henry's love for robotics as a threat to himself, William and Henry both studied robotics, but Henry had a deep fascination for it unlike William, who studied it to get a degree like everyone else, he wasn't in love with it. But the way William saw Henry's passion when making the Fredbear and Spring Bonnie characters, the fascination Henry would do to make other mascot suits that could be used for the springlock endoskeletons. It was like... William couldn't describe it. He has three journals filled with mad praise and wild jealousy over Henry. William deemed it unfair, he should be like that. When Henry married, William was not the best man. He should have been, he should have been a better man than Henry ever was. William tried as he might to be viewed the way Henry did, eventually Melody would have twins, and William was okay with this. Most families had three children, William would have his own, be better than most families, be better than Henry's family, which had two children. Twins as well.
As you can tell, during the early parts of the timeline, I play more into William's fascination and jealousy of Henry. The Silver Eyes has always called this out and I always found it super interesting that it did. William was clearly fascinated with Henry, whether that be because he could love and William can't or something else, I always liked that about William's character. So during the early parts of this universe, I see William being more infatuated with Henry and later on, trying to do something else. To step out of Henry's shadow. William's first murder is the fifth friend of Michael's friend group, Lily Brooks. Lily was an accidental murder, just happened to be in the backroom at the wrong place at the wrong time, when William was taking out his frustration. William did everything he could when he was Spring Bonnie, he wanted to one up Henry in terms of theatrics, possibly his true calling. His anger overflowed him one day and he took it out on the first person he saw, who just happened to be a girl who wandered into the backroom by mistake. She was murdered and when William realized what he had done, he was afraid at first and took the body, stuffing it into one of the first ever prototype Fredbear animatronics. It was an accident, but he realized that she might be alive inside of the Fredbear prototype. Even before The Puppet had awakened Lily, the prototype Fredbear had been alive via different means. Maybe it was his anger? His jealousy? William didn't know, but it reminded him of that one time at Disneyland. William began to experiment with emotions, mainly fear. He used some money to secretly start up his own testing chambers directly under Fredbear's, would be easy to have his own victims. It took two months to create the chambers, and William did everything by hand.
The man used his youngest son as a test subject, probably the only thing he was good for. He manipulated his son as well using the Fredbear plush, trying to continue to make him fear everything around him. Michael's torment was the perfect motivator, and of course, those new Freddy Fazbear characters. When The Big Bite happened, William was mad at Michael, but for different reasons. He lost a family member, and now everyone gave their condolences and looked at the family with pity. William didn't need pity, he needed praise, he needed love. He needed to be the man everyone loved. William had killed Charlotte and his wife prior to The Big Bite so everyone already looked at him and Henry with pity, but now it was doubled. William also lost a test subject, and with Fredbear's closed down William was at a loss to continue his experiments. But he realized something, the souls of his wife and Charlotte were alive, Lily was now truly alive inside of The Prototype. There was something to this, and now William had a new goal. His ego, his theatrics, they would all come into play to make William Afton the immortal man he should be.
William's experiments continued with Michael and Elizabeth flip flopping sometimes. As for William, he would go on to continue working for Fazbear Entertainment and eventually go on to kill six children at the local Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Gabriel, Fritz, Susie, Jeremy, Cassidy, and Zoey. This incident was viewed as a huge hit and the suit used for the murders had seemingly disappeared. The bodies were never found, but there seemed to be a trail, and just as the police were picking up on this trail, the animatronics were shipped off to the sister companies facility. They did inspect William Afton, finding everything except for a confession labeled I did it. But they found the Spring Bonnie suit, which had been used for the murders. But due to the lack of bodies being found, William was let go. It was around this time that Fazbear Enterprises fired both William Afton and Henry Emily as they felt like they needed a break. William wouldn't take this lying down, how could they fire him? William's ego blinded him from the firings, Henry would move on, try and rebuild his life using his own copyright free characters which William would call "The Mediocre Melodies". William would make a rival company called "Afton Robotics" and start up his own restaurant... that didn't even open. It had one test run and shut down after that. Everyone was confused why and then it was found out that Elizabeth Afton had been missing for a few days. William kills five more children at the next Freddy Fazbear's Pizza location, with them going on to possess the animatronics. It was around this time William had realized something, when in the Spring Bonnie suit, the children he had killed were none the wiser. They were alive yes, but he could masquerade as one of them, manipulate them. It worked and he basically made a brand new family, one that respected him, listened to him.
With The Puppet in the picture, they stopped listening to him.
The main five were now thorns in his side, naughty children that deserved to be punished. The new set of children he killed didn't last long as Toy Bonnie would end up committing an event known as "The Bite of 87". Jeremy would live, but the animatronics were scrapped. Furious by this, William knew he was at a loss, Michael was off at college, Elizabeth was Circus Baby and anytime he was down there, she was just as annoying as ever, Timothy was gone, and his wife was always foiling his plans. William snapped, he lost it. He broke into Freddy Fazbear's one night after it had been abandoned and destroyed the animatronics, teaching them a lesson. In the end, William was taught a lesson as the ghosts of his past came back to haunt him, scaring him into the Spring Bonnie suit he once used. William laughed as the children still seemed afraid of him, but those laughs loosened the locks just enough to snap back into place. But William didn't mind in the end, he was alone, alone with his newfound immortality.
When brought to Fazbear's Fright, Afton had a sort of love hate relationship with the building. The attraction was all for him, he walked around it, he relished it, it was all about his murders, his legacy, all in one place. William had seemingly got everything he wanted, sure, they might have feared him, BUT, he was looked at. He was popular. They loved him, and when it all burnt to the ground, he was a little sad, but hey, it's better than calling him Springtrap. He was found after the fire and brought to a facility, a facility he knew fondly. At the end, when the facility was rubble, Afton survived once more. He never once thought that he got here through luck, he believed that he truly was immortal. Despite the scratches and scrapes from the facility, Afton was alive. He then heard of this new fangled restaurant, Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place. He knew who owned it, he knew who worked there, and he knew what it was. He survived one fire, he survived a facility being turned to rubble. Afton was immortal, and he needed to let them know that he was. His ego blinded him once more. He walked right into the trap, and it worked. The remaining souls were freed, and Afton was sent to deal with his consequences. When William first saw UCN, he realized how WONDERFUL it was. Being surrounded by his own creations, the ones he made, the ones he loved. It brought a smile to his face, but Cassidy knew that. So she when she saw the smile, she brought in others. Afton's legacy had created many murderers, many creations, some linked to Fazbear Entertainment, some not. William would be tormented by it all, going through different loops of torment, going through all the bad memories he made people go through. Some of them revolved Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, some of them involved Fazbear Enterprises themselves, and some of them involved other companies. And it's still going, Cassidy isn't satisfied until William's ego is non-existent... and then some.
William's theatrics and ego blinded him to the blindspots he made, he lied about Circus Baby being based off his daughter (which is mostly a lie with a tiny hint of truth to it) and didn't think for one second that she would disobey and see the murder machine, because William's ego blinded him to it. William had always left a trail, he left everything, he just got lucky. And for once, he didn't stop to think that. With Afton suffering for all eternity, there are still parts of him that exist out there, The Mimic's first look at him was through the emotions Afton imprinted on the Spring Bonnie circuit boards. The Simon Endoskeleton has parts of Afton in his code, with Fritz Glade none the wiser. Project "Clean Slate" made Afton into a caring father who just wants his family to be immortal, and that's how William was remembered. No one knew the real Afton, no one knows that his legacy lives on, or that he's suffering for his crimes. Fazbear Enterprises covered it all up as a desperate attempt to stay in business. But no matter how many times they find a way to cover him up, he will come back.
He always does.
