📻🎙 I’m forever thankful to @coloradomediaschool!! When I went to #ColoradoMediaSchool it was #OhioCenterForBroadcasting #ColoradoCampus!! I attended this school in 2011, and have been working in the industry ever since. Over the last 12 years, I’ve been grateful to work and grow in the industry. Looking back, I’ve had a lot of adventures. 🥰 • My experience started right away as I had a radio show on MileHighUnderground.com. • I interned at Wilks Broadcasting (now Kroenke Sports & Entertainment). • My first paying job was as a Radio Personality at a country radio station in Lamar, Colorado in 2012. • I moved to #FortMorganCO in 2013, and began working at #MediaLogicRadio as the #NewDirector and a #RadioPersonality!! • In 2016, I moved back to #DenverCO and began working for #iHeartMedia as a #TrafficReporterAndProducer for #TotalTrafficAndWeatherNetworkDenver! I’ve been here ever since!! 😍 I honestly, didn’t think I’d ever work in #Radio as I have a #BachelorsOfArtsDegree in #TheatreArts from #UniversityOfNorthernColorado!! 👩🏻‍🎓 I am grateful that I am using my college degree; I use it every day as I grace the airwaves! I’ve also had the opportunity over the years to do some very creative commercial spots, #TheatreOfTheMind shows on the radio, and various other opportunities. My favorite project so far has been portraying #LanhChuy in @forewardpodcast!! 🎭 This podcast is an #AudioDramaPodcast that chronicles one family’s story after the tragedy of a school shooting. This theatre of the mind podcast is one of a kind, and I can’t wait for future seasons 🙏🏻🙏🏻 if they should arise!! In 2020, I earned my MA in Art and Design from the University of Northern Colorado. In partial fulfillment of the requirements for my MA, I conducted an action research project in which I explored the effectiveness of research workbooks as an assessment tool of artistic growth. I chose to complete a research workbook myself as a method of self-assessment. Using self-assessment to identify strengths and areas where I need to improve is the first step to improving my artistic practice and, as a result, growing as an artist. 

While research workbooks may not be an adequate way to measure artistic growth on their own, they led to some unexpected findings. As an artist keeping a research workbook, I engaged in personal artmaking, showed work in multiple exhibitions including a solo show and renewed my passion for art! I also recently became the new editor of Collage, the Colorado Art Education Association’s magazine.

What is it like being a minority on a college campus? 

“Growing up, I stuck out like a sore thumb. People always treated me like a foreigner, even though I was born here in the States. I was always made fun of for overtly practicing my culture in any and every form. After years of ridicule, I forced myself to blend in with the crowd and I hated every moment of it. I felt as though I was going against who I was but in doing so, I was surviving the ridicule. I went on many college visits but I never found a home on any other college campus. Everywhere I went, I would try to look for someone who looks like they come from the same cultural background as me, just to feel some sort of connection to the campus, but I could ever find one or two out of thousands. I didn't want that, I didn't want history to repeat itself again where I would stand out like that. It was until I visited UNC that I found a home away from home. The diverse student body enabled me to feel as though I should embrace my culture after years of repressing it. I wanted to stick out now because I no longer felt alienated but appreciated for my differences.”
