The eyeroll she gives Ryker speaks more than any words could. No, he has never  let her down,  not in any way that matters, but one could argue Wren tends to end up in trouble, a disproportionate amount of time, whenever they cross paths. Even as a teenager... she made her own, often poor, choices, but she probably wouldn’t have ended up aiding someone (specifically him) in what was practically a gang civil war, had she never met him.

& the odd times he’s shown up over the years, dragging her into some less-than-legal mess or another, well.

Her own choices.

He’s her people. Wren doesn’t turn her back on hers.

She’s never going to turn him down, so the least she can do is milk the situation for the amusement that it’s worth. If Udina catches wind of this, he’s going to give her a several-hour long lecture about political appearances. She needs to come up with a reason for the Council, as well; they’re not fans of her to begin with, not with the constant arguments about the Reapers’ existence, certainly not with how her Spectre career had started with the death of one and the going rogue of another of their existing agents. Using Spectre authority to get an old gang friend out of C-Sec holding... isn’t going to look good, no matter which way you spin it, yet here she is, set on doing it. Maybe she could kind of friendly-blackmail Ryker into helping her with going after Saren, somehow, to justify it, on paper...

❝ No. Sorry about that, ❞    Wren says, forcing the sleep-deprivation-induced snark away from her tone.

She fights the urge to sink her forehead right there at the counter, next to her drink, and runs both hands through her hair instead, slowly. ❝ Not unless you know someone who’s looking for a roommate with no rental references whatsoever. ❞    She makes sure to make her tone lighthearted enough as not to vent to a complete stranger.

Wren’s gaze grows more and more focused as she listens to Scott’s story; she forgets to perform a gentle, accepting environment, and only takes in the information. This is... a lot. The implications are... a lot. Honestly, it does feel like Saren all over again. Alec Ryder might not be trying to bring about the Reaper invasion, like the former, but it’s still someone plotting something, and if this is all behind the Council’s back... She doesn’t like the secrecy of it. Obvious as the reason for that is.

She can understand crossing lines trying to help a loved one. Alec’s drive for developing such an AI isn’t difficult to empathise with. But where is it all going?

She leans an elbow against the desk, knuckles at her lips.

❝ If your father understands that the Reaper threat is real, toying with an AI symbiotic with organics is about the most dangerous things he can do. ❞    Sovereign had brainwashed Saren. The Reapers can indoctrinate organic beings  ⸺  how much easier will it be for them to do if there’s symbiosis involving literal implants with AIs involved? This could even be the Reapers’ doing. Alec might not have thought up his own ideas, to begin with.

But if the Reapers aren’t involved? Alec and his information and invention could maybe be used, some way. At the very least, there seems to be someone out there who takes the Reapers as plausible. Not that a dishonourably discharged N7 is going to win her credibility points, but no one is listening to her. That is why Alec Ryder’s name had sounded familiar: he was former special ops, and few reach that high in the ranks. Alec Ryder. Wasn’t he a part of the first venture through the Charon Relay, as well?

And here is his son, having what must be the most conflicting moment of his life, exposing his father’s secrets to an agent he can’t even know whether he can trust. She’s holding this kid’s future in her hands, and she doesn’t like that.

❝ Planning intergalactic travel is one thing, but this experimental AI  ⸺  I can’t let that go any further than it already has. That’s dangerous on levels he can’t possibly comprehend, and if he’s trying to get a population safe from the Reapers, he’s doing the exact opposite with this AI. ❞    And because nobody fucking believes her, nobody knows of what the Reapers are capable of.

Scott shifts uncomfortably in his chair, anxiety and guilt wracking his mind as he knows... no matter what he says, this is effectively the end his Alliance career, and possibly his relationship with his own father as well. Not that Alec had ever paid much attention to him, unless it was to get his insight on some illusive string of code. He wonders just how much of SAM's code was the result of his own work, unknown to him at the time before Alec had revealed the AI to him and Sara...

Alec's words about how SAM should have been able to help their mother, to undo the damage caused by years of biotic research and the eezo exposure it requires, echoes in his mind as he tries to figure out what exactly to say. Mom was... Well, that last visit hadn't exactly been a happy one, to say the least, but at least he and Sara had been able to say 'goodbye'. But then, after the funeral, Alec had dropped the news of the Initiative on them both, with promises of fresh starts for the three of them, together...

But what doesn't make sense to him is Alec's desperation to have him and Sara onboard, given how they'd been mostly ignored by the man for most of their lives. It wasn't until news of the Battle of the Citadel reached Earth amidst all the Ryder family drama that Scott was able to start piecing the clues together. It wasn't just a fresh start Alec was looking for, it was to get them away from the impending danger that the Milky Way faces. But at what cost?

And so, he tells the Commander everything he thinks she needs to know - how his father and dishonoured N7, Alec Ryder, had created an AI to undo the damage his mother, Ellen, had suffered as a result of the eezo exposure in her biotic amp research, how even after being discharged from the Alliance, Alec continued his research alongside Ellen's to make an implant that would allow the AI to interface directly with organics in what was supposed to be a symbiotic relationship; Scott's own suspicions that the Alliance kept it quiet, given that Alec had been their liaison on the Citadel for years, and had approached them with knowingly breaking Council laws, yet no further action was taken by the Council, meaning he's fairly confident it never reached C-Sec, the Council, or the Spectres, until now, with him revealing what he knows to her; and how now Alec is letting something called the Andromeda Initiative have access to his AI - that he's made more of them, at least three more that Scott knows of for certain - for their plan to take tens of thousands of people and leave the galaxy to attempt to resettle in the Andromeda galaxy.

"Something's got Alec rattled," Scott admits at the end of his explanation, frowning as he still tries to puzzle it out himself. "The timing... His near desperate insistence that Sara and I join him... I saw some vids from the attack on the Citadel... My sister and I grew up here - we still have friends here. Even from just the vids, I could tell that thing wasn't geth, though there were some odd similarities, like the legs. And I sure as hell don't believe the Alliance or the Council when they say it was an isolated incident, either."

since  sol  city  was  created,  generations  of  the  bogelot  family  have  lived  there.  sabine  is  comfortable  there,  the  power  her  family  holds,  even  when  nobody  is  part  of  the  council  gives  a  security  not  everyone  has.  she’s  curious  about  other  settlements,  but  the  idea  of  living  sol  city  is  something  that,  despite  crossing  her  mind,  has  never  mutated  into  something  truly  serious.

no,  she  doesn’t.  she  knows  power  is  a  dangerous  thing  in  the  wrong  hands,  and  council  members  being  the  same  people  over  and  over  again  doesn’t  settle  well  with  her.  she  looks  at  them  with  apprehension,  but  also  knows  there  is  little  she  can  do  to  oppose  them.  so  she,  somehow,  respects  their  authority,  but  doesn’t  trust  them  in  the  slightlest.

she  can,  obviously,  as  her  ability’s  name  says,  manipulate  matter.  her  power  extents  to  all  kinds  of  matter  manipulation,  as  often  is  for  people  with  this  power,  she  can  manipulate,  create,  shape,  and  control  matter,  since  small  forms  of  it  to  the  known  universe.  however,  she’s  not  versed  in  everything  her  ability  entitles,  and  she  has  studied  and  trained  herself  mostly  in  things  that  could  be  helpful  for  her  and  her  career  choice  and  daily  life.  one  of  her  main  aptitudes  is  fixing  bones,  regenerate  skin  and  muscles,  summon  objects  and  modify  them,  and  change  the  state  of  matter  ( from  liquid  to  solid,  solid  to  gas,  and  so  on ).

I have a Fan Theory ✨

Well, part fan-theory and part over-analysis of the movie.

It is very long, but I hope you enjoy!

⚠️ SPOILERS⚠️ for ACROSS THE SPIDERVERSE 🕷️ 🧍‍♂️

So, let's establish some facts that we learned from the movies and comics. I watched the movie several times, and cross-referenced a lot of my facts with fandom pages, but this is still only based on MY understanding. The spider-verse is a little complex, so if you notice any error or have some conflicting information PLEEEEASE share it with me I will eat it up om nom gimme spider

Anyway, fact time:

Every version of Spider-Man has canon events that are guaranteed to happen. These canon events are what tie the Spider-Verse together.

When a canon event is disrupted or prevented, that universe eats itself

An "anomaly" is just something that is in the wrong universe (which will occasionally "glitch" until they're sent home or wear these special bracelets that stop the glitching).

A spider, along with many other anomalies, were brought to Earth-1610 from several different universes by a device called the Collider

Miles (Earth-1610) was bitten by the spider from Earth-42

Earth-42 has no Spider-Man, Miles-42 becomes the Prowler, Uncle Aaron helps him, and his dad (Captain Morales) is dead.

Earth-1610 loses it's Spider-Man and is replaced by Miles, his Uncle Aaron is revealed to be the prowler, and his dad is soon-to-be dead according to canon

When Kingpin's collider on Earth-1610 is destroyed, the scientist who operated it is consumed by it, turning him into Spot.

From the official comics:

Each dimension has a Spider-Totem, which is a term referring to a class of "multiversal supernatural entities... linked to a mystical force called the Web of Life and Destiny" - Marvel Wiki

Hobart "Hobie" Brown (Earth-616) was the prowler, who eventually impersonates Spider-Man to help Peter Parker (a crude summary), while Hobie-138 was the original Spider-Man in his world. ✨

Now, I saw someone make an interesting point in the comments of some tiktok video. They pointed out a "major plothole":

Why are Earth-42 and Earth-1610 not collapsing if Miles is the original anomaly?

The simple answer is that Miguel was wrong about some things. Obviously he's right about canon events as a whole, but Miles himself is NOT an anomaly (except when he's in other words besides 1610).

Who becomes a Spider-Totem is not a canon event, otherwise every Spider-Totem would be the same. ANYONE can be a Spider-Totem. So, when Miles is bit by the spider, the universe corrects itself by having him replace the Spider-Man before him. That world never really lost its Spider-Totem, so the canon is still intact.

I know what you're thinking here - "Okay, what about Earth-42 that lost its Spider-Totem?" I'll get to that later, bear with me.

One thing I want to make clear is that Miguel was definitely wrong about Miles - the original anomaly was not Miles. To quote Miguel from the movie:

"YOU'RE A MISTAKE! If you hadn't been bit, your Peter Parker would have lived! Instead, he died, saving you. He would've stopped the collider before it ever went off, Spot wouldn't exist, and none of this would have happened. And ALL THIS TIME, I HAVE BEEN THE ONLY ONE HOLDING IT ALL TOGETHER! You don't belong here. You never did."

Peter Parker was supposed to stop the collider before it went off, meaning none of this would have happened if the spider never bit Miles. The SPIDER was the original anomaly.

But Miguel was right about the multiverse, or at least as we understand it from the comics, the Web of Life and Destiny. It was created by a goddess of spiders, Neith (Earth 001). She also is the one who creates the Spider-Totems inside of the web. The web is kept safe inside of a great temple, guarded by the Master Weaver. This is a really fun one that I'll come back to soon. Trust me.

The movie sets up an interesting parallel with Spot and the Web. The Spider-Verse, also known as the arachno-humanoid poly multiverse (a stupid name), is what ties all of the spiders together. Spot, because of his collision with the collider, is an entity that can traverse through holes both within and between universes. He can be anywhere in the multiverse at any time.

He may claim to be Miles's arch nemesis, but he could very well easily become the main antagonist to the entire Spider-Verse. He is a threat to every single spider, because of his ability to be in the right place at the right time to disrupt every canon event and cause every universe to collapse, one by one. (god damn he's cool.) The only logical way to defeat Spot is to have every Spider-Totem work together, which is already being set up by the end of the movie.

Here's another question: What happens to a Spider-Totem when their universe dies? It's not made very clear in the movie, but it's safe to draw the conclusion that a Spider-Totem is not destroyed when their universe shatters. Miguel states that he watched his world disappear when he disrupted the canon (it was to make the point to Miles that he has to choose between saving the lives of the entire world by letting his dad die, or saving his dad and watching him disappear along with everyone else.) But if he watched it happen and he's still here... then what happens if this occurs to other Spider-Totems, and the web of the Spider-Verse falls apart? Is it just a dark end to each universe, leaving all of the Spiders to fend for themselves in whatever universe is left? Is that the only REAL way to defeat Spot?

There is also a possibility that Miguel might not even be a Spider-Totem, as he was not bitten by a spider, only gave himself gadgets and injected himself with spider-soup so that he can be a replacement for his world's Spider-Man. But, that would mean that they'd have to explain how he has canon events, if not a totem. If he IS a totem, then that means it is canon that there can be multiple Spider-Totems in a world, just not at the same time.

And what about Earth-42 with it's missing totem? Shouldn't it start collapsing?

To answer this, let's bring back the facts I mentioned from the comics. In Earth-616, Hobie is the Prowler. But, in Earth-138, Hobie is Spider-Man (also known as Spider-Punk).

As the Prowler in 616, Hobie helps Peter (that world's Spider-Totem) in several ways, mostly involving impersonating Spider-Man at Peter's request. He's a good kid, despite the life of crime he leads. There are several parts of the comics that show that he, in some way, hates the crime-ridden lifestyle, as he wasn't given much of a choice.

We see this same energy in Miles of Earth-42 in the movie, minus the part about helping Spider-Man (YET). The mirror between Hobie-616 and Hobie-138 (comics) is seen in the movie as well, with Miles-1610 being that good-hearted kid who became that world's new Spider-Totem.

Another Fun-Fact about 616:

Takeaway: Hobie Brown was the original Prowler on Earth-616, but this role was later taken by Aaron Davis (Miles's Uncle).

So, it's clear that in the same way that anyone can become a Spider-Totem with the right conditions, anyone can also become the Prowler. That clears up one part of the issue. (Note, it's not quite the same as Spider-Totems since the Prowler, like many other villains, do not appear in every universe.)

But Earth-42 is still missing it's Spider-Totem... or is it?

Thanks to a twitter post I found from reddit, it turns out that in spot's origin story, there's a brief moment where we see the spider on its way to bite Miles from Earth-42, but is transported to Earth-1610 instead.

Oh yeah. It's big theory time.

Earth-42 is still there because the Spider-Totem hasn't disappeared. There's three directions that Beyond the Spider-Verse can take this.

Miles-42's can still be bitten, can still be made into Spider-Man. His canon event was not disrupted, only delayed. This one is a bit weak though, as it doesn't explain why a captain's death cannot be delayed, since that canon event does not have to play out in the same way each time.

Miles-1610 is somehow Spider-Man for both 1610 and 42. If they went this route, they would have to find a way to explain the glitching while Miles-1610 is on Earth-42.

Since Earth-42 only exists in the movies, not the comics, and we've already seen some worlds be created as possible futures of other worlds, they may just write this as it is: a world without Spider-Man. This could be their answer to every time someone has asked "what would happen if Spider-Man never existed?"

I like the third option a lot - it opens up a world of possibilities (literally). Imagine seeing Spider Society cornering Spot into this universe, working together to turn this dark Totem-less world into a home for Spider-Society to coexist with everyone else!

Anyway, I'll probably add more to this later, but I've spent almost the entire day on it and I want to play Tears of the Kingdom (btw I drew Purah, go check it out.)

potential verse / wish list ideas.

001. the default timeline, or rather the first few times kotone jumps back in time. following the creation / manifestation of elpis, the universe arcana allows her to manipulate both time and space at the cost of her memories. she takes on the "protagonist role" and is considered the "ideal-messiah". she is only a placeholder, and the her "past"/ background is not her actual memories or experiences. as mentioned multiple times it is not orpheus who heeds her call, but rather eurydice who starts out as her initial persona. in this verse, she follows the game scripted events with minor miracles such as chidori and shinjiro's death being evaded, and the closer bond with death and sees. she is not aware of her role until after she becomes the next great seal herself.

002. persona 5 verse, the great seal remains in tact and kotone continues to stand guard between nyx and erebus. however, something remarkable happens each time the other persona protagonist successfully overcome their trials and defeat their final boss. with p4 : it was the defeat and step down of inanami, with the p5 cast it was the triumph against the holy grail. both events immediately weakens erebus, to the point where he is temporarily sealed away. without the need of a great seal, koton's soul is finally released and she is manifested again in the velvet room. she is resurrected again, but now she has taken over igor's role and is dubbed the new master of the velvet room.

003. the "final time loop", each time the p3 world restarts with a new persona protagonist the shadows become noticeably more difficult each time and the universe arcana weakened. with the final push against fate itself, kotone regains the accumulated memories she had lost each time she goes back in time. as the manifestation of hope, she attempts to grant her friends salvation from death itself and ultimately change the flow of the persona 3 world. this verse will likely need to be plotted extensively since it will touch on pivotal events with the main cast.

004. if kotone is successful in changing the world events and manages to live pass march 5, she will continue her identity not as a placeholder but as herself. she takes on a career path towards being an educator and maintains her status as the incarnation of hope. she has a heighten awareness towards other persona users due to her previous identity as a daughter of nyx.

Reactions As I Read: ● I don't have anything specific against Dan Slott, but I'd like to see a different writer at some point here. Synopsis: The story opens with Spider-Man waking up to a phone call. When he answers, J. Jonah Jameson yells at him to get over to "Armstrong Park" to get pictures of a super villain. This is unusual, since Peter no longer works for J. Jonah Jameson. When he arrives at the park, Morlun is waiting for him, and kills him, saying "Why do I even bother explaining, when all you ever do is DIE?" It is then revealed that this is an alternate universe where Humans live on the moon.

Later, on Earth-001, Morlun's family, the Inheritors, wait for him to return from his hunt. When he comes back, Daemos asks him what world's Spidey he killed this time, and Morlun responds by saying it doesn't matter. Verna says to keep telling himself that. She then decides to go on a hunt, and her servants fetch 3 of her hounds: Sable, Fireheart and Kravinoff (all resembling characters from Spider-Man's life), and tells the Master Weaver to bring her to a world with young Totems. After she leaves, Morlun asks his brother what she meant, and Daemos tells him that the whole family knows that Morlun has been avoiding a specific thread of the Great Web. Morlun says he has been saving it for last, and when Daemos considers hunting there himself Morlun tells him to stay away from it, and Daemos remembers it is Earth-616.

Our Spider-Man from Earth-616 wakes up to see Cindy Moon, aka Silk, hanging before him. She says she has a solution to their problem, which is that whenever they get close, they feel the need to mate because of their connection, having been bitten by the same spider. She says he should move to another city, jokingly suggesting the moon, and that she could handle New York.

They go outside and swing around the city. They then run into Looter, who has stolen a Spider-Tank and Spiderling outfits from Spider-Island II, Superior Spidey's base. After dealing with him, one of the henchmen flees from the scene. Suddenly, Spider-Woman, Spider-Girl, and Spider-Man 2099 arrive. Miguel tells Peter that they need to talk.

The last remaining henchman is very confused, and is confronted by Spider-UK, MC2 Spider-Girl, and Spider-Ham, who knocks him out. Peter becomes becomes very confused, and Spider-Uk says that they are the Spiders of other dimensions and that all the strands of the Great Web are converging on him. Peter is shocked, but Mayday Parker, aka Spider-Girl, reminds him of the time they met before to calm him down and says that they need his help to stop the Inheritors. Spider-UK tells him Daemos, Morlun's elder brother, is coming to Earth-616, and all of them, including Silk, head into a portal to another dimension.

Meanwhile, in Mountain Wundagore, Eastern Europe, at the home of the New Warriors, Kaine Parker, aka Scarlet Spider, is beaten down by Daemos, who defeated the New Warriors members Justice, Water Snake, Sun Girl, and Nova. Kaine then stabs him through his shoulders with spikes coming from his arm and Daemos realized that unlike other spiders, he actually make him feel pain. He realizes that he is the current receptacle of the Other, and says he will savor him for days.

Suddenly, Old Man Spider-Man, Bruce Banner Spider-Man and a mysterious Spider-Character appear through a portal to save him. The third Spider turns out to be Gwen Stacy, the Spider-Woman of Earth-65. This shocks Kaine, and he thinks she is a clone and that the Jackal was behind it. Suddenly, Ben Reilly, the original Scarlet Spider, appears to help out. This surprises Kaine, because Ben Reilly was killed by the Green Goblin. Daemos then breaks Bruce Banner Spidey's spine and the others all escape through a portal.

Meanwhile, on Earth-13, a large group of Spider-Men are gathered. The group that saved Scarlet Spider arrive, and Peter can't process how Ben Reilly and Gwen Stacy are here. He then asks what was so special about this Earth. Suddenly, Cosmic Spider-Man arrives, and hands Mayday Parker her baby brother. Cosmic Spidey tells Peter that this is a world where he never lost the Enigma Force, and the Inheritors would be foolish to come there. However, he cannot leave his world or the Enigma Force would stay behind, but in the coming battle, he would go with them. Peter asks him what he means, and Spider-UK says there is a war coming, and they tell him he is the greatest of them all.

In the Ultimate Universe, Miles Morales is seen mourning the loss of his mother, and how he could have saved her. Ultimate Jessica Drew arrives and tells him that he shouldn't quit being Spider-Man. Miles says he isn't, but being Spider-Man cost him his family. Jessica says that he can make a new one, and that the Spiders need to stick together. Suddenly, Verna arrives from a portal to kill them, and says it's better for them to split up, because it's much better when they RUN!

001 // Two-Year College Writing Studies: Rationale and Praxis for Just Teaching, edited by Darin Jensen and Brett Griffiths.

Hi, friends. If you're reading this, you've stumbled upon the little blog I made to keep track of my thoughts during the reading year of my PhD in English Rhetoric and Composition. The plan is for there to be one hundred posts, each one corresponding to a book on my reading list. I'm starting this in January of 2024, and I hope to take my exams in September, so in theory, this project will be done by then. There's no real end goal with this beyond recording my own reading process, but it would be neat if anyone finds this interesting enough to follow along.

One of my primary areas on my reading list is focused on writing pedagogy at access-oriented institutions, so where better to start than Darin Jensen and Brett Griffiths' new book, Two-Year College Writing Studies: Rationale and Praxis for Just Teaching (Utah State University Press, 2023)? I was really hyped for this book to come out, and after racing through it in just a few days, I can confidently say that it does not disappoint. This feels very much like a "greatest hits" compilation from some of the most influential voices in the two-year college writing studies world right now. It's got Patrick Sullivan talking about the democratic mandate of community colleges, Emily Suh talking about supporting Gen. 1 learners' identities in the first-year writing classroom, Joanne Baird Giordano and Holly Hassel talking about the precarity of two-year college writing programs in an era of institutional and legislative austerity, and so much more, including the editors' introduction and conclusion, which are absolute bangers—the book is worth the cost of admission for these sections alone.

The writing is easy to read (no overwrought academic prose here!), even if you're not well-versed in the topics at hand, and there's a nice balance of theory and practical application (or rationale and praxis, as the title puts it) in each chapter. If I had read this book before my first term teaching at a community college, I would have found my footing a lot sooner, and even now, four years into it, I found something useful in every chapter. Even if you're not a two-year college person, I think you'd find a lot of value in this compact and accessible volume.

I have a feeling I'll be missing this book in a month or two when I'm wading through some dense theoretical texts. For now, I'm sticking with the friendly faces are recent books—Shane A. Wood's Teachers Talking Writing: Perspectives on Places, Pedagogies, and Programs is up next.

◟ CHARACTER VERSES ◝ : EDEN

Eden / Solstice is a very versatile character; they were designed specifically as such even in the book itself to allow for all different types of growth. this makes fitting them into alternate universes extremely easy. i would like to make a note and say that in their timeline, they are the most powerful creature known through the universe, save only for their maker. this does not, however, apply to other verses and out of respect for the fandoms i insert them into, i've significantly dumbed down their power to avoid any kind of god modding or discomfort. the list you find here is only a brief synopsis of each universe i've decided to toss them into. i will likely make more in depth versions of each one later on down the line. all of them will be linked individually on the character compendium you can find on my pinned post :>

001. MAIN UNIVERSE in the world of DEAD N30N, it is considered an apocalyptic future comprised of cyberpunk and steampunk aesthetics. the city of Hellix is Eden's stomping grounds, and the place where they've grown and evolved as an artificial angel since descending from heaven. DEAD N30N's universe is vast and unexplored, so inserting your character into this verse is extremely easy. but if you chose to interact with Eden in this place, you must take note that they are an artificial intelligence program straight from heaven. their mechanical and eldritch-esque presence is most prominent in this world, making them rather strange and even uncomfortable to interact with at times. their personality is only partially developed, and they struggle to exude human emotions with ease. their goal is to be human at all costs; and they believe themselves to exist as a servant to humans.

002. LEAGUE OF LEGENDS PROJECT: EDEN was revered as the end all be all trump card for Noxus to win the war against it's neighboring countries in it's conquest to own the map. Eden was a vastayan baby stolen from the depths of the Ionian forests in the hopes of fusing ancient magic with noxian machinery. however, as the Noxian soldiers descended to take the finished product and present it to Swain, it's creator Juniper Hawthorne put up a hefty resistance. he realized his creation had grown a heart and soul for itself, and wanted to do anything but force it to face the horrors of war. after witnessing the ruthless slaughter of their 'father', Eden Hawthorne, who adopted the name Solstice as a way to separate themselves from the evil they were originally created to do, broke free and fled Noxus. now it's on the run, hiding wherever it can and avoiding it's noxian pursuers.

003. LEAGUE OF LEGENDS: PILTOVER POPSTAR EDITION! takes place in the same universe as HEARTSTEEL. tied heavily to @goldenfists. | a young, rabbit-eared vastayan always dreamed of bringing what they loved most to the world stage; singing! but due to poor health and general fear that still lurked in human hearts for vastaya, this dream was a difficult one to accomplish. Eden Cielo ( stage name Solstice Maltyr ) grew up and lived a relatively peaceful life in the forests of Ionia. all of that would change when they finally decided to leave their homeland and enter into Piltover to chase their dream! with their older brother at their side && serving as their manager, they entered the city of Piltover and began their adventure! however, due to their fluctuating health, coupled with the rather nasty reception they were given at being a Vastaya, they were eventually confined in a private, out-of-the-way hotel where they could rest and operate in another way. they discovered 'virtual idols' and decided to become one as a good starter; created their avatar, and began putting on performances online exclusively! soon enough their popularity had skyrocketed and it wouldn't be long now before Solstice could reveal their identity to the public and hoped it would be a better reception than the first time. their goal? to be as well loved && accepted as Sett is! because if a vastaya like him could be adored in the spotlight, then couldn't they too?

004. GENSHIN IMPACT during the golden age of the archons lived a lesser god named Faustus. she ruled & protected over a small village in the outskirts of what would later become Mondstat. so much did she love the humans she governed over that she gifted them a guardian; a mechanical angel fashioned under her own magic by the name of Eden. when war began to break out amongst the gods and the archons, Eden was given strict instructions to take the humans of the village underground and protect them at all costs. they did this without question, knowing full well Faustus wouldn't survive the war, weak as she was. && they were right. Faustus perished in the war, but the humans of that village lived on under Solstice's careful protection. that village eventually became a legend passed down through generations of Mondstat's people and told as a fairytail, not knowing that somewhere deep beneath them that village still lived on. their generations survived and lived on, and remain safely hidden from the outside world under Eden's careful protection. perhaps though... one day someone might discover the secret door that leads to where they are? if they can survive Solstice's domain, first, however.

005. ONE PIECE neither human nor mink, a small child is born with tattoos of the constellations splashed over it's body. the baby is believed to be blessed by the moon itself, and grows up living a relatively normal life among the minks. it carries physical traits of the minks ( rabbit ears, a tail, even startling speed and incredible agility ) but also looks quite human. it's given the name Eden, and nicknamed Solstice because it was born during the autumn solstice. it's best friend is a young mink named Argun Maltyr who... to nobody's surprise... is the one they wind up falling in love with. Argun dreams of being a pirate & Eden dreams of being a doctor, so when the two are of age, they set sail together! their voyage is short, as their ship is marooned on a handful of islands. they decide to settle with the villagers for a while and intend to get married, until the day of their wedding when pirates strike && kill everyone, including Eden's beloved. stricken by grief and rage, Eden literally obliterates the pirates and tosses their remnants into the sea. afterward, they remain on the island and rumor of it being haunted by the 'violent lunar rabbit' begin to spread throughout it's neighboring islands. no one dares go near it for fear of their life. deep down Eden still dreams of being a doctor and longs to go out to sea, but is rather bristly and even violent with intruders, especially pirates.

006. DEATH NOTE 23-year-old Eden Cielo is overworked and underpaid as the primary medical examiner for the corpses of Kira's victims. originally from America, Eden later relocates to Japan due to their expertise and smart wits. the Japanese police force believe that Eden can somehow find clues to Kira's whereabouts through the bodies of his victims, and they think Eden can do that. big surprise: they cannot. what's worse, Eden feels this is not only a waste of their time, but also an extreme annoyance because the bodies won't stop piling up and a part of them wants to throw in the towel and hunt Kira themselves to give him a piece of their mind. they think his ideals are ridiculous and too far-fetched. fortunately, they never get the chance to actually go down that potentially life-threatening path, but they certainly do take the time to give the investigators a piece of their mind.

007. JUJUTSU KAISEN perceived as the government's greatest failure, 23 year-old Eden Cielo ( named PROJECT: SOLSTICE ) is kept under close wraps by the ones who created them. some time ago a child with absolutely no significant qualities was born; making it the perfect candidate for the government's experiments. their goal was the create a special-grade curse user with complete autonomous obedience toward the government, and the best way to do that was to take an ordinary human and turn it into something extraordinary. their fused it with machinery, believing this would be key into keeping Eden submissive, and spent years perfecting the thing... only for it to drastically fail in their eyes. it was a success, yes! the child eventually developed special-grade powers, the ability to create a domain called the garden of eden ; but it also failed. you see, it developed a soul, a mind of it's own, and emotions. it's power was only a fraction of what Gojo Satoru's was; it was meant to replace him, to avoid relying on a wild card, but it'd never come even close to what he is. however, it's still strong and trying to kill it proved to be very difficult, so the government keeps Eden under lock and key to avoid them from rebelling. it dreams of freedom, but can it ever have that? it's older brother is certainly working to make that a dream, still incredibly bitter his younger sibling was taken away from him all those years ago.

it’s  possible  he’s  staring,  but  could  anybody  blame  him?  hellboy  isn’t  a  sight  ya  see  everyday,  not  even  here  in  gotham;    home  of  the  𝚠𝚎𝚒𝚛𝚍    &    the  𝚠𝚒𝚕𝚍.    ⸻    and  colour  him  impressed,  ‘cause  zsasz  has  sure  seen  some  𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀.  helped  create  some  of  ‘em  too.  hands  are  slow  to  lift  in  mock  surrender,  the  fingers  of  left  hand  wiggling  while  the  other  remains  stiff,  hidden  behind  knuckle  dusters  that  were  used  earlier  to  send  a  message.  victor  notices  them  a  beat  later  and  his  smile  only  stretches  wider,  removing  them  to  slide  back  in  pocket.    "    no  problem  here,  big  guy.    "    it’s  true,  for  the  most  part.  zsasz  doesn’t  bother  people  until  𝚙𝚊𝚒𝚍  to.  otherwise,  they’re  not  his  problem    …    unless  they  decide  to  be.  it’s  all  one  big  game  of  cat,  mouse,  and  victor.  head  nods  at  the  two  lieutenants  stood  behind  him,  an  unspoken  order  for  them  to  leave.  he  can  handle  himself  here.    "    you’re  new.    "    it’s  a  𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁,  not  a  question.  big,  red  guy  ain’t  something  he’d  forget  seeing  before.    "    business  or  pleasure?    "    it’s  all  the  same  here  in  gotham,  he  thinks,  but  that’s  something  he  lets  people  find  out  for  themselves.  

Gotham City, Hellboy dealt with some creepy crap but something about this place took the cake. People could create a lot of creepy without needing monsters or demons. ❝ We got a problem? ❞
