Frank Woods x Reader
Husdon takes it too far, but maybe everything will work out??
——————————————
Warnings
Huson being an ass. Fighting done offsceen. Make out on screen. No gender placed on reader.
——————————————
The door slammed shut, making Woods chuckle. He rests his arms on the table and cleans his pistol with an old rag. Watching you intently, he could see the tension in your body language and smirked in your direction. “What’s with the attitude?”
“What attitude?” you say, not looking up at him. Usually, you get along and enjoy spending time with the Woods. But did he have to be here right now? Throwing the box of case files down on the table. Already annoyed with what you just, gracefully, walked away from. Huffing at the tone, he wasn't used to having a pissed-off tone from you directed at him.
Setting down his pistol and making his way around the table. Pushing the files away, he knocked his fist into your shoulder, forcing you to face him with unintentional strength. The one that’s telling me you’re pissed off.”
He reserved these moments for you, the soft ones that called for secrecy and no prying eyes to judge him for letting you in. You both knew what line of work you were in and what you wanted; what was plain to see, even when trying to be hidden, only got you hurt more. After all, you couldn't trust anyone.
Frank and you had been tiptoeing along the unspoken boundary like the ground was liters with landmines. Still not looking up at him, you said quietly, “It’s nothing, Woods.”
The tone told him to back off, but come on, has he ever backed down? Coming up behind you now. Trying a different approach, he leaned down so his mouth was next to your ear. You could feel the roughness of his beard lightly brushing against your skin. “Don’t give me that bullshit, sweetheart. I know when somethings bothering you.”
Even though touch this light was foreign to the hardened soldier. It felt good, comforting not only to him but to you, which brought your mind straight back to the issue that was bothering you. You had feelings for him, and it was starting to get noticed by people around you. One person who was causing the biggest problem in this situation was Jason Hudson.
He was surprised when you stepped away from him. Looking down at you with a concerned gaze. Having you pull away from him hurt more than he’d like to admit. “Hey… hey, what’s going on? Why are you crying?”
Not even noticing the tears roll down. Shaking your head slightly to get the tears to stop only helped them fall faster. “Hudson just needs to learn how to shut his mouth.”
Wood’s hardened his gaze on hearing that name, “Tell me something I don’t know. What did he say this time?”
You didn’t want to tell Wood’s what Hudson would NEVER have the balls to say to Wood’s face. A snide comment that didn't register until he had slammed the door in your face. The very few times Woods and Hudson cross paths, it always ends in a fight, and up until today, Hudson has never harmed you.
Woods scowled, anger filling his bones at the Hudson speaking to you in a way to make you this upset. He must have crossed a line, “No, tell me what he said. I want to know.”
“It's fine Frank… I- I don't know-“
Frank and you weren't together, but everyone knew you two were close. Everyone also made their own assumptions. Some of them were right, most of them were wrong. Then again… Hudson’s actions also warranted him to get clocked, so maybe-
“He said that if you don't fuck the bitch out of me, he would.”
.
.
.
Silence.
Turning to look at him finally showed you exactly what he was thinking. Red. Red. Red. His blood was boiling. He was absolutely livid, and it took everything to keep it together. Watching you look up at him with big teary eyes, nervous about his reaction. Taking a step towards you, filling the gap, he practically pressed himself against you. Successfully trapping you against the table, not planning on letting you escape. Wood’s clenched his fists tight and visibly held his breath in his chest. The thought of Hudson making such a crude comment about you set him on fire.
“I- I just asked him about these fucking files. I swear I wasn’t doing anything-“ Covering your eyes to try to hide from Wood's stare, trying to shield some tears from his view. Feeling a hand firmly take your arm down, another comes up to the back of your neck. Holding you steady against him, his touch shot down your spine. Wood’s leaned down and placed a rigid kiss against your forehead. “I’ll be back.”
The heat from the anger coming off his skin burned. You’ve seen Frank angry, yelling, this… this was different. An angry Frank was scary, but a calm Frank Wood’s? Suddenly, you were scared for Hudson.
Hardly getting out a ‘wait’ before Frank is out the door. Footsteps echo down the hall; he was on a mission.
——————————————————
Overhearing one of the medics talk about a fight in the hall wasn't surprising. It also wasn't a surprise to hear that one of them is in medical with stitches and a broken nose. While the other is suspended pending corrective action. Shocking.
It wasn’t until later that night that you decided to seek out your knight. You went to the private barracks on base, where Woods was staying when the team was grounded. Knocking on the door took more courage than it ever had in the past. Listening for anything past the wooden door gave you the answer you needed, running water. It wasn’t loud enough to be a shower, probably just his sink. You tried the door handle to find that it was unlocked.
It wasn’t like Frank to leave a door unlocked. Carefully and slowly, opening it slightly. Before entering, you looked both ways down the hall and stepped in, seeing you were alone. The last thing you need today is more comments about the nature of your relationship or lack of with Frank.
Like calling the devil when the door clicked shut, the water turned off, and Frank came out of the small bathroom. He paused momentarily, looking at you, taking in your silhouette against the dark of his room. Leaning against the messy desk behind him, pushing several papers back without much care, he was far more focused on what was right in front of him. The question on your tongue dissolved as soon as his eyes met yours, but he answered your question regardless, “I figured you’d come by.”
Nodding in acknowledgment was the only answer you gave, unable to look away. Taking in his appearance, an old t-shirt, worn-out cargo pants, and bruised knuckles that made you hold your breath. Nothing could change this man.
We stood in front of each other, silently waiting for someone to move. He didn't do this because he thought you needed protection, and certainly not for you to say ‘thank you.’ So, doing what felt right under the watchful eye of a man who can’t be killed, you put one foot in front of the other. Every step sealed your fate as the eyes of a predator stalked your every move.
The heels of your boots clicked lightly on the floor. Getting dangerously close to him, you took his briused hand into your, and looked down at the bruised skin. Woods watched you silently, taking you in; it wasn’t every day you were this close.
Frank held his breath in his chest, unable to move from the overwhelming emotion in your eyes. Clenching his jaw slightly as he watched you examining his bruised and bloody knuckles, a mixture of pain and satisfaction coursing through him.
Looking up and locking on to worn blue eyes, not before giving his lips a once over. It took a split second of leaning into him to press your lips against his. Bring your hands up, rubbing them over his chest to cup his bearded face in your hands
Woods let out a low rumble as he felt your soft lips aggressively push against his in a sinful way. He wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you closer to him and returning the kiss wholeheartedly.
His body was still tense from the adrenaline of the fight, but as your hands came down to his chest once more, getting closer to him, wanting to feel more, the tense muscles couldn't help but relax into you. Moving his hands down to your hips, holding onto your firmly as he deepened the kiss.
This was a first. Kissing was a new playing field for you two to concur on. The heat coming off of you from unspoken conversations and desires was finally pouring out. Wood’s hand came up, tangling in your hair. He tilted your head to the side, pulling you deeper into him as he practically devoured your mouth, not letting either of you breathe. He didn't need air. He needed you.
Spinning around and pushing you up on the desk made you gasp, letting the air rush into your lungs, making a lightheaded fuzzing feeling come up your spine. He didn't give you much more than a second before he was back on you, all teeth and tongue like a wild animal out of its cage. He was out for blood, looking at you with a hungry expression, his chest heaving against your own as he tried to catch his breath in between kisses.
Pulling away from your lips only to make a trail down your jaw to your neck. You felt a smirk against your sensitive skin before he dove into you once more. Sucking and nipping onto skin he had never touched before. He wanted to make damn sure he claimed it as his making you moan out into the cold air of the room.
Hearing the sweet wimpers come from your mouth sent shivers down his spine, making his grip on you tighten. His body pressed against yours in a possessive manner, making sure you couldn’t run from him. As if you ever would.
“Frank!” Pulling him off in a rough jerk after his teeth grazed your neck particularly hard. You take a minute to look each other over and share the same breath. He reluctantly pulled away from you, smiling a little too wide for a man who had just put another man in the infirmary. With swollen lips and his eyes dark with desire, he looked at you, panting, trapped by him. He still held you against the old desk, willing to give out at any point. “What is it, sweetheart?”
Letting out a small laugh of disbelief. Running your hands over Wood’s beard, wiping away saliva he smeared on himself. Biting your lips, taking in his appearance, his face flushed, and his eyes blown out. Now, this was a sight you could get used to. Bending over you with gruff huffs and an expression that told you exactly what he wanted, you kissed again. Sweetly, this time before pulling away and smiling up at him.
Wood’s couldn’t help but chuckle softly as you delicately ran your hands over his beard, a signature smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. He didn’t hide the groan that came out as you pulled away from him, his eyes watching you intently. His body is now back to being tense, only now with desire as he looked you up and down. In a rough, low voice, he asked, “What was that for?”
“For this,” You take his hands in your own once more and bring them to your lips, giving each of them a soft kiss. You could feel his breath hitch in his chest. No one handled Frank Woods with care. “…A thank you..”
His expression softened slightly; he wasn't used to being treated like this. Like he mattered to someone, especially when he just got out of a physical fight. His heart clenched at the sight of you delicately caring for him.
Woods pulled you closer, wrapping his arms around your waist and burying his face in the crook of your neck. He held you tightly against him, his body relaxing as he inhaled your scent. Warmth was festering in his chest; he didn't think feelings this intense were supposed to exist. He knew that things would be different between you from now on, and for once, he wasn’t afraid of it. This was the start of something new for both of you. The softness and the warmth that you both deserved.
————————————-
I really tried on this so dont make fun of me. Also who tf knows how to kiss? I dont.

Personality:
Due to his socially awkward and off-standish attitude, Lars often struggles to make friends long term. Although it is unintentional, Lars comes off as incredibly unsettling to those who first meet him, due to his stature and overall appearance. However, he is protective of the friends that he has, and will ensure that your back is covered in a firefight. Earning his friendship is in itself an accomplishment, but do something to break his trust and he will never forgive, no forget.
Background:
Lars was born in Lapland, Finland on March 13th, 1935 to Gunnar and Svetlana Pääkkönen, being their only child. By the time of his birth, the shadow of the second World War had already been looming over Europe, and in 1939 kick-started the Winter War when the Soviets invaded Finland, with Gunnar leaving to answer the call to defend his country. Lars would not see his father again until four years later.
In 1945, when the war officially ended in Europe, Gunnar returned home, but as a broken, scarred shell of a man who eventually turned to alcohol to cope with the trauma and grief. In 1947, Lars watched as his father eventually succumbed to his demons and drank himself to death to an early grave. Left with nothing but bad memories, a disheartened Svetlana left with the then 9 year old Lars, both departing from Finland and immigrating to the United States to start anew. Adjusting to life in the States had not been easy.
At the age of 18 after graduating high school, Lars signed onto the Marine Corps, which led him to meeting three men he would eventually form a close bond with: Alex Mason, Frank Woods, and Joseph Bowman.

The Perfect Pileated Woodpecker
The Pileated woodpecker (Dryocopus pileatus) is a common sight throughout the deciduous and mixed forests of North America, from Nova Scotia in Canada to Florida in the United States. Though they can adapt to many forested environments, their preferred habitats are old-growth hardwood forests, with plenty of open space in the canopy and on the ground.
The distinctive look of D. pileatus makes it a near-perfect stereotype for the woodpecker group. Both males and females have a large red crest, white markings streaking from the face to the shoulder, and a black body. The main distinction between the sexes is that the males also have a red line going from the bill to the throat. This species is also the largest woodpecker in North America, sitting at a body mass of 225 to 400 g (7.9 to 14.1 oz) and a wingspan of 66 to 75 cm (26 to 30 in).
As is characteristic of woodpeckers the pileated woodpecker feeds primarily on insects, particularly carpenter ants and wood-boring beetle larvae, but they also consume wild fruits and nuts when available. To find food, individuals use their strong beaks to peck holes in dead wood and suck out insects with their long tongues. Their feet are zygodactyl, meaning there are two toes in front and two in the back, and are handy for clinging to the trunks of trees. Adults can fall prey to hawks and owls, while nestlings are susceptible to martins, weasels, squirrels, and rat snakes.
Pileated woodpeckers make their nests in dead or dying trees, and single roost will often have several entrances. Though males and females share territories, they often nest seperately, only coming together during the mating season. Courtship begins in early February and lasts throughout the spring. Males entice females by drumming loudly on tree trunks, dancing around them, and calling. Afterwards, the pair excavates a nest together and the female lays a brood of 3-5 eggs. The clutch is tended by both parents for about 15-18 days, at which point the eggs hatch.
Hatchlings are fed by both parents for about four weeks, at which time they're ready to leave the nest. However, they won't leave the nest for several more weeks as they learn how to find food and fend for themselves. By the time they're a year old, they are fully mature, and can live to be up to 10 years old. The parents abandon the nest, though they will remain mated for life and build a new roost the following year. Once abandoned, these holes will often be used by other passerine birds, ducks, or owls.
Conservation status: D. pileatus is considered Least Concern by the IUCN. They are well adapted to living near humans, and can be found in smaller stands of trees. However, the deforestation of old-growth forests is a significant threat to their livlihoods.
If you like what I do, consider leaving a tip or buying me a ko-fi!

Jackie, Marilyn, and Elle: Comparing and Contrasting two ICONS to remind us that Warner was WRONG
Too BLONDE?? An Introuction
Elle Woods’ iconic journey in Legally Blonde is prompted by Warner Huntington III breaking up with her.The comments made are how Warner needs to be “serious,” and the deep blow of how if he’s to be a senator, he needs to marry “a Jackie, not a Marilyn.”
While in the musical, the scene adds an implication that Warner thinks Elle is “tacky,” Elle’s thought process leads her to summarise Warner’s viewpoint as being that Elle is “too blonde.”
Warner sees Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Kennedy as being two polar opposites- one the sultry actress knows for ‘bimbo’ film roles, and the other the respectable wife of the President of the United States.
But Elle can’t fathom differences between these women aside from their appearance.
Let us analyse what can be compared and contrasted between two iconic women.
In the climax of Legally Blonde, Elle discovers that Chutney Wyndham is the real perpetrator due to her knowledge of hair care. As Elle notes, “any Cosmo girl would’ve known.” It is Elle’s feminine knowledge that guides her to victory in her very first trial. With that in mind, let us examine the feminine knowledge of Marilyn and Jackie as our real-life role models to Elle Woods, and uncover just why she sees so little difference between these fascinating women.
A note before we begin: this is not a competition. But Warner sees it that way, and the purpose therefore is to remind him just how wrong he is.
Marilyn Monroe: Political Powerhouse
Firstly, Marilyn Monroe is known to most as either the glamorous actress of 1950s films- such as the notorious Gentlemen Prefer blondes, which certainly could have influenced Elle’s mindset, especially with the pink drama of the Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend sequence. Others may know her from regularly recreated images, such as her holding her blowing-up skirt from The Seven Year Itch, or the pop art portrait by Andy Warhol.
Either way, the most prominent images in the heads of many in regards to Marilyn Monroe are glamorous, sexy, feminine- and blonde and pink, of course.
Famously, like Elle, Marilyn’s femininity and sex appeal lead her to being boxed into roles of the comedic blonde bombshell, though the fought to be out of her typecasting.
After the success of “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” and “How to Marry a Millionaire,” Marilyn was offered what would have been a third ‘dumb blonde’ in “The Girl in Pink Tights,” she not only refused, but CNN’s article ‘How Marlyn took the male-led film industry and flipped it on its head” notes that she reportedly labelled it “Trash.”
In that same article, Mira Sorvino is quoted. “She was the main attraction,” the actress notes, saying “she was the reason people flocked to the theatre. So it was insane that she wasn’t in a more powerful position in terms of salary.” The reference here is to Marilyn’s discovery that Frank Sinatra, her would-be co-star in “The Girl in Pink Tights” was offered $5000, while Marilyn was offered $1,500- a third of Frank’s pay.
The article points out that Marilyn’s contract was changed after the snub, showing Marilyn to be valuing her feminine charm and wiles that made her studio so much money and garnered them so much attention. Is this why Warner does not wish for Elle to see Marilyn as aspirational, given she was something of an upstart?
Not to mention, Warner doesn’t seem like the biggest advocate for equal pay…
A lesser-known contribution that Marilyn made to her society was in the civil rights movement, drawing attention to Ella Fitzgerald.
The Biography article by Sara Kettler titled “Ella Fitzgerald and Marilyn Monroe: Inside Their Surprising Friendship” opens with a photo of the songstress and the starlet smiling together in conversation. Kettler notes how Marilyn helped Ella get a gig in Mocambo, the famous LA nightclub. Marilyn “promised to come every night” that Ella was booked, and to “bring along other celebrities.” With this promise of publicity, Ella was granted several weeks employment at the famous club.
Kettler also notes that, despite Ella’s success, some clubs would hire Ella, but still have her enter through the side door “due to the colour of her skin.” In order to combat such prejudice, Marilyn “refused to go inside unless both she and Fitzgerald were allowed through the front doors.
Marilyn may not have been dying on the front lines of the civil rights movement, but she was using her status to forward the career of someone directly affected by said movement.
Marilyn used a name built as a blonde bombshell in order to be an influential activist, just as Elle Woods being a Cosmo girl is what won her her first legal trial.
Have we emphasised enough that Warner doesn’t know his rear end from his elbow when it comes to powerful women? Perhaps Warner doesn’t want a Marilyn, not because she’s blonde, but because she was an upstart who knew her own mind and fought to make her own way in the world. Is that just too much for him to handle?
Jackie Kenney: First Lady of Fashion
On the side of Jackie Kennedy, later Jackie Onassis, she is of course best known due to her time as First Lady of the United States. She was from a respectable family, studied French literature in university, and is perceived largely as classy, elegant, and educated. To this day, she is cited as an image of grace, with This week in Libraries magazine writing “In the realms of elegance, poise, and grace, one name reigns supreme- Jackie Kennedy.”
While Jackie’s other accomplishments are not to be overlooked, let us focus on traditionally feminine aspects of life that she has embodied to remember the value of both aspects of her, and of Elle.
As Vogue writes, “Before Jackie graced the halls of the White House, she trod those of this very magazine,” referring to her job as junior editor of Vogue, immediately showing that, like Elle, Jackie not only had political potential, but fashion icon potential early on in her life.
It should be noted that Jackie “quit by mid-morning,” as the environment was not suited to her goals, however, she is still heavily associated with the magazine as she contributed to salvaging the Temple of Dendur, which has played host to the Met Gala, as noted by Vogue.
This Week in Libraries also notes Jackie as a “Style Icon,” praising her boucle suits, pearls, and, of course, her pillbox hats- the latter being described as “synonymous with her name.”
It’s also not just her connection with Vogue that cements Jackie’s name in the world of fashion, as countless articles have addressed her style as “timeless” or “iconic,” so why exactly does Warner have such an issue with committing to a woman with a degree in fashion merchandising?
Town and Country’s list “11 Brands Jackie Kennedy Loved” notes how Gucci named the Jackie bag after her, and I wish for that kind of influence for Elle Woods, which I thibk highlights just how much of an influence that Jackie would have potentially had on Elle.
Warner, your Jackie was in front of you all along.
And of course, while steeped in tragedy, it is nonetheless fair to say that one of the most iconic images of Jackie is of her pink suit on the day of her husband’s assassination. Loathe to overlook the horrors of such an event, but be that as it may, it emphasises that Jackie Kennedy is just as pink and pretty as Marilyn Monroe.
In the Legally Blonde sequel Red, White, and Blonde, Elle even sports a tribute to this suit, which really sends home how far Warner is from the mark.
On that note, let us now discuss beautiful pink outfits worn by Jackie to intensify how connected Jackie can be to Elle. Firstly, the aforementioned suit became an iconic moment of defiance as Jackie bore the bloodstains, cited as saying “let them see what they’ve done.”
She also had a similar sleeveless suit designed by Oleg Cassini, as well as a matching coat and hat worn in New Delhi.
One of her other beautiful pink moments was a floor length, strapless Dior gown worn with white opera gloves. Other pink outfits include a dress with a unique pink bow detail by Joan Morse, and a high-collared suit by Oleg Cassini. The point here is not to simply list pink outfits, but to remind us that a woman- such as Elle- can be fashionable, elegant, and bright pink, AND be a force of change.
Elle Woods knows that Marilyn and Jackie had it all: fashion girl status, and cultural and political know-how; and frankly, it’s lucky for her that Warner knew less about these iconic women than she did.
Always have Faith in Yourself
And to my masculine girls, you’re the real winners here, because Warner would probably be threatened by your vibes. Not only are you valid, but take comfort in not attracting Warner Huntington III.
Let us remember to value our own self worth, just as Elle did when she shows us all how valuable she could be- and she did it in a playboy costume.
WE DID IT!! To Conclude
In conclusion, my place is not to overlook one woman, or pit her against another; it is not to overlook one woman’s achievements and put them against the achievements of another woman; it is not even to claim traditional femininity as a pinnacle of achievement, or to explore what it means to be a feminist, or anything so grandiose.
My intention here is just to remind us all, whether we relate more to the story of a Marilyn or a Jackie, to always have faith in ourselves, and to always remember that the Warner Huntington III we have in our own lives is a bonehead.

The curious case of the short-lived Combination Vender Company
By Jonathan Monfiletto
From furniture for stores and schools to carriages and buses to metal fixtures and more, the Penn Yan area has been the site of various industrial endeavors creating a variety of interesting products. One such venture was the Combination Vender Company, which was at one point located on Water Street in the building that is now the site of Water Street Wines & Spirits.
Though it seems to have begun with promise, the Combination Vender Company also seems to have come in like lion – putting out a roaring good product for the Yates County area and beyond – and seems to have gone out like a lion too, with a ferocious argument between the company’s founders. The Yates County Chronicle of August 31, 1904 features the first reference to the Combination Vender Company in a Yates County newspaper, though it is unclear when the company started. That edition of the Chronicle notes Combination Vender recently moved from the Commercial Iron Works, located on Commercial Avenue in the Lake Street corridor after the 1872 Jacob Street fire, to a building on Water Street owned by C.H. Conklin.
A few months later, on February 8, 1905, the Chronicle carried an article titled “Penn Yan’s New Industry” and subtitled “Davis Brothers and F.B. Townsend Doing a Rushing Business on Water Street.” The article describes Combination Vender as a new industry that opened on Water Street after beginning in Beebe’s carriage factory the summer before. The Water Street building had previously been occupied by the Penn Yan Wine Company but now was the home of a firm managed by brothers Jacob and Lewis Davis and Frank Townsend, who invented the machine the company patented on October 25, 1904 and produced in its factory.
Though newspaper accounts call the machine a slot machine, it wasn’t something you would see in a casino even though in practice it might work that way. In essence, the machine was – as the company’s name suggests – a vending machine. According to the Chronicle, the vending machines had four compartments to carry four different commodities, such as candies and peanuts and more. Items cost one cent each, so a person put in their penny and chose the item they wanted. The machine received the penny and carried it back to the drawer and retained it. Then, the desired item fell through the opening into the hand of the person.
Interestingly, the machine also had a magnet that attracted steel or iron or tin and thus prevented fraudulent coins from being used to obtain items. Since a penny is made from brass and not magnetic, it moved through the machine as intended.
At the time of the 1905 article, the company employed 13 people and and had 1,000 machines ready for shipment, with a total of 3,000 or more orders. The Chronicle detailed the company’s process for making the machines on Water Street: On the first floor, oak woodwork for the machines was cut to the right size by circular saws and into the right shape by a machine carrying different knives. Then, the wood was smoothed and polished by a revolving wheel. On the second floor, the iron and brass were prepared, with the iron cut into shape by metal dies. On the third floor, the machines were put together, varnished, and prepared for sale. At that point, every part of the machines was made on Water Street except for the enameled iron front – made by the Lisk works in Canandaigua – and one little casting made in Buffalo.
Combination Vender had moved to Water Street in 1904 to “largely increase its capacity,” according to the Chronicle, and indeed by the end 1905 the company was reported to employ “fifteen or sixteen men” and its machine was touted as “one of the best on the market and … finding a ready sale in all parts of the United States.” The company incorporated in early 1906 with a capital stock of $100,000, with the Davis brothers and Townsend among the directors. “These gentlemen have an excellent invention, a money maker, and are to be congratulated,” the Chronicle said.
In December 1908, the Combination Vender building was the victim of an apparent arsonist in the Penn Yan business district. The engine room, where the fire ignited, and another small building were significantly damaged, and the building sustained water damage. However, a little more than a year later, in the first Chronicle edition of 1910, an article headlined “Prospering Industries” highlighted Combination Vender along with other industries and interests throughout Penn Yan and Yates County. the sub-headlines boasted, “Penn Yan’s Factories and Mills Show Marked Progress During 1909,” “Railroads Show Increase Over 1908,” and “Northern Central Business for November and December Gains $14,200. Factories Nearly all Busy. Outlook for 1910 Very Promising in all Industries.”
For the article, Combination Vender reported an increase in business from 1908 to 1909 and had “every reason to be assured of a prosperous year in 1910,” with no decrease in its workforce during the winter despite such a cut being the rule in similar factories. “This firm has a great deal of competition to meet, but its machines are satisfactory and increased business naturally follows,” the article states.
However prosperous 1910 may been for Combination Vender, 1911 appeared to usher in the downfall of the company. On May 31, the Chronicle reported the factory was shut down and the employees put on vacation because of strained relations between Townsend, the company secretary, and Jacob Davis, the company treasurer. Davis had apparently fired Townsend, giving the secretary “a notice that his services were no longer required,” but Townsend refused to stop working. Davis delivered Townsend another notice, this time accompanied by a witness, yet Townsend still refused to quit. Townsend stated his firing by the treasurer required the consent of the board of directors.
Davis called a meeting of the board of directors, which voted to discharge Townsend. The secretary still refused to step down, claiming the notice of the meeting must specify its purpose. With the factory slated to reopen the following week, Townsend said he would be there while Davis said Townsend would not be allowed to work and the factory would be closed again if needed. It was noted Davis held the majority of shares in the company, while Townsend was a stockholder and was also superintendent of the factory for some time.
The Penn Yan Democrat of June 9, 1911 sheds more light on Townsend’s side of the argument, stating the secretary had asked the treasurer for a sworn statement of the condition of the company but Davis failed to do so. While Townsend said he made the request in writing that March, Davis said he had no recollection of it other than presenting a statement to the board and giving it to Townsend to examine. However, at that meeting, Townsend said he asked Davis to swear to the statement, but Davis would swear only to part of it. This argument apparently led to Davis seeking to fire Townsend.
According to the Democrat, Townsend sought a penalty for Davis for his violating a law that requires the treasurer of a company or corporation to render a sworn statement under certain conditions. Townsend also sought back payment for his prior work for the company. Indeed, Townsend filed a lawsuit against Davis for the violation of corporation law. The presiding judge dismissed the action, however, stating Townsend, as a director of the company, had “every opportunity to acquaint himself with the financial standing of the company,” the Chronicle stated on December 13, 1911.
As reported by the Chronicle on June 4, 1913, the Appellate Division ordered a retrial, with this time the jury deciding the case in favor of Townsend and the presiding judge awarding $680 (equivalent to $21,298 in 2023 dollars) to Townsend as a penalty to Davis. This verdict appeared to ring the death knell for Combination Vendor.
On January 9, 1914, the Democrat reported a man was looking for a suitable building to manufacture gas fixtures, and one place under consideration was “the brick building on Water Street until recently occupied by the Combination Vender Company, this company having moved into the adjoining wooden building,” formerly occupied by Sanderson’s coal office. A year later, on January 15, 1915, the Democrat reported a fire destroyed the three floors of the Combination Vender building. Baldwin’s Bank owned the building and had it insured for $3,000, while Davis had the machinery and company stock insured for $8,000.
The last mention of the Combination Vender Company in Yates County newspapers came on December 3,1924, when the Chronicle reported a fire at Clumm’s Accessory Store – apparently located in the wooden building once the home of Combination Vender – in which 500 of Combination Vender’s machines were destroyed. Davis, then living on Rochester, stored the machines there until they could be distributed in nearby areas, and some of the machines were recently purchased by a Rochester man. Instead, “all of these, charred by the fire and soaked with water, were dumped down through the two stories to the ground floor,” the Chronicle wrote.

Prologue
I watched the snowfall on the iced sidewalk; the sky was so dark only a few stars peaked so far away. I sighed, blowing out the smoke from the cigarette I inhaled. The nicotine filled my lungs with a slight burn, then the smell engulfed me as it slowly disbursed through the air as I exhaled. I rarely smoke, only when I’m stressed and today is one of those days.
My arms were visible, my coat tied tight around my waste protecting me from the wet wood bench. I didn’t know what I was doing here, in front of this little diner in the small city of Saint Heller Jersey, I should be back at the safe house trying to find another way to complete my mission.
Part of me knew that I should, but another part of me didn’t want to move. I was constantly moving, always traveling, always finding a lead no matter where it takes me. I just want to sit down, even if it’s for a few minutes.
I flicked my cigarette, “You know those are terrible for you” I looked over from hearing a rough raspy British accent and saw a tall guy with curly brown hair bundled up in a winter coat, boots, and a green rugby hat. I rolled my eyes, I don’t do very well with the people from the countries I’m stationed at, it’s not like I’m trying to be mean, I just don’t want to say too much and ruin my cover.
The cigarette still burning between my pointer finger and middle finger was halfway finished, in looking at the man once more before throwing the smoking white filtered stick to the ground and crushing it with my foot. I made sure to pick it back up and tuck it into my jean pocket. I’m probably going to accidentally wash the cigarette bud with my jeans, I thought.
The man smiled, “See that wasn’t that hard” I chuckled, his smile was nice, endearing, but also curious in a way. Since I didn’t say anything he spoke again, “What are you doing out here so late at night, especially without a jacket on?” He questioned, I thought about giving the honest answer and thinking whatever, never going to see this guy, again right? “I spend a few months in Russia off and on, this is nothing to me” I wasn’t lying, not exactly, of course, there are more details but there’s only so much I can tell him. He started walking towards me and gestured to the open seat of the bench next to me, I nodded. “American? What are you doing here, not many Americans I know who would vacation in Saint Heller?” His tone sounded curious, but you could also hear the slight rattle of his teeth as he shivered from the cold.
I chuckled, this poor guy sitting out in the cold to speak to me on the frozen bench. “I’m on business, and you’re right this isn’t my first option for vacation.” My eyes wandered to my hands as I twisted my thumb. “Then what would be your first option for vacation?” I looked at him confused his piercing blue eyes almost carved into my soul, “You don’t even know my name and you’re trying to get to know me?” I asked as my southern draw poked through my words.
I had no problem with him trying to talk to me, I’m a better person to speak to at night anyway: it seems as if I’m more of a night person than a morning person. Trust me after being woken up at four in the morning every day for nearly three years, you’d learn to hate the morning—his voice interrupted my thoughts swirling, “Oh right! Name, I’m Henry, and you are?” Henry held out his right hand for me to shake, Fuck it, “I’m Rhylan”
“Well, Rhylan, what do you say we go somewhere to warm up, there’s a good diner down the road.” I looked at the blue-eyed man sitting next to me. I smiled, “Will you let me frisk you first?” I joked.
Nobody I knew liked that joked, yet he smiled. Maybe he is different.
--
The diner was small, quaint but cute. It was quiet in the booth we sat at in the back of the diner, that I got to get to know him more.
I smiled as I watched him slowly walk to the booth with two cups of hot liquid in his hands, one with a large whip cream swirl on top. I smiled at his cute hitchhiker walk trying his best to not let the cups spill, “One large hot chocolate for the pretty lady” He spoke in a more elaborated British accent while setting the hot glass in front of me and then setting his coffee across then sitting down.
“You should’ve let me pay, I feel bad now” I stared at the large hot chocolate, debating on whether to drink it. It just looks so pretty, with the whip cream and cinnamon, I caved once the whipped cream started melting into the dark chocolate, “Don’t worry about it, also do you even have any British pounds?” He questions.
To be completely honest, I didn’t even really think about the negative consequences to answer this question, I just felt so open around Henry like I’ve known him all my life. “Only about ten thousand” my face was still in the mug of hot chocolate as I said it, to cover what I said and make it seem like I joke I smiled, when I put down my mug he was smiling as well.
“Well pretty lady, did you rob a bank?” He asked, I saw the slight rise in his eyebrow as a curious gleam spread across his face—yet I could still see that charming slight smile. I decide to just go with it again, “No I infiltrated a drug terrorist rink down at some abandon docks” I laughed again, maybe if I place the truth in plain sight it will make me feel less guilt about lying to him. This time it didn’t play through as I wanted, “I’m joking, I swear” I covered nervously, thank gosh he changed the subject.
“So where are you actually from” He took another large sip of his hot coffee, I still don’t understand how he can drink this so late at night and still be able to sleep. “What do you mean?” He smiled, “You’re American, yes, but from what state?” “Texas” I didn’t even think about the consequences of telling him where I am from, my captain would be so angry with me. “That makes since, the funny accent really stands out” “My funny accent you should hear yours” I said in shock, “Would you like some tea or a crumpet?” I tried my best to imitate his accent and we both burst out laughing, “Oh really--- you want a beer with your fried chicken” We laugh harder, “Hey don’t judge you’ll never understand the love of fried chicken.” I spoke as we both started to catch our breath.
He shakes his head, a smile spread across his lips, “I’ll never understand the need for America to fry everything” “Because it tastes better” I shrugged.
It wasn’t very long after when we both left the café together; it was late nearly two in the morning. But we continued to talk and walk through the snowy park.
“Alright! Bad habits?” He questions.
I cringe, “Only one?”
Henry stops in his tracks and looks at me, “How many do you have?” I sighed and smiled “Too many,” we started to walk again. “Cigarettes, uhm- you saw that. I don’t smoke often, once, or twice a year. It’s complicated.” I continued, “All types of junk food, straight vodka—not the shit stuff that tastes like acetone, but like the good shit.” I paused, damn I have a lot of bad habits I thought, “I can’t think of anymore.” I shrugged, we continued to walk again the snow picking back up this time I put on my jacket, not that it does much.
Henry laughs, “I admire you can eat junk food and stay in shape.” I shook my head, “I don’t, heredity obesity actually runs in my family I just end up working out two to three times a day, it’s my go-to when I’m stressed, and so is alcohol, but working out is my first option.” I explained, checking the blocky waterproof watch on my wrist at two-forty-five a.m. “Jeez, I thought my job is stressing.” I continued without even thinking about what he said, “What do you do—wait, how do you know it’s my job that’s stressing me, I could be a single mom with five kids.” I chuckled, I’m not, but how could he know that. “You’re not, you look about nineteen,” Henry put his gloved hands in his coat pockets and looked down at me on the side of him. “Quadruplets?” I questioned, seeing if he would believe it, he just shook his head and smiled, “Fine you’re right.” I frowned, “But hey! You didn’t answer my question, what do you do?”
This is the time Henry lit up, it seemed like he enjoyed talking about this topic. “Aspiring Actor” He smiled wide. “Really?” My words were longed in a shocked tone, “In anything good yet? I question, my eyes wondering to his brown hair, snow in the soft curls. He shrugged, “I’m getting there I hope…” He smiled at me, I looked at my watch to avoid the melting feeling his eyes give me. Nearly a quarter past three in the morning, I need to get back to my post.
I paused walking, and smiled at him as he turned to face me, “It’s getting late, we both need some sleep” “Fine---when can I see you again?” I shook my head my eyes following to my hands as my fingers tangled into themselves.
“One day, if fate is working on our sides” I smiled. Henry looked a little disappointed, but he didn’t push on it any farther.
“Well, it was great talking to you, Rhylan” He smiled, I could still see the disappointment in his eyes though.
I smiled and nodded, “Thank you for the hot chocolate”
“Don’t worry about it”
I checked my watch again and then looked back at Henry. “Now listen to me carefully, I wasn’t here, you don’t know my name or any information I’ve told you. You’ll tell nobody of me, it’s up to your safety.” I spoke with no emotion in my voice, I couldn’t show him that I felt anything for him, I just met this man.
“Rhylan—what are you talking about?”
I took Henrys hands into mine, “Just trust me”
“Close your eyes” I spoke my voice softer.
Just like that I was gone, that was the last time I saw Henry.
Little did I know fate was working with us.
Looking back at that day, I didn’t know much about love, life and hope. I didn’t know meeting Henry my change my entire life, with one mission, one moment, and one spark of life in my hardship. Then the thought of finding love was absurd to me. The thought of sticking together with one person for life never even crossed my mind.
But it was the moment I wouldn’t change ever again. Other than the savior of America, Henry was my purpose in life other than to become the drunk I was headed onto.
Instead I had something to look forward to, something to think about when I was down, or my many hospital visits, when I was on leave, I could only let my mind ponder about what could’ve been, what could’ve been made. I once thought, love, life, and happiness wasn’t in store for me. Little did I know.

Underneath that childish facade is a woman filled with insecurities and anxiety that she desperately tries to hide from her fellow Perseus members. She tries to simply make them smile and focuses on her work. (These insecurities and anxiety would bubble up to the surface and have a solid hold on her after learning about MK Ultra, the betrayal of her CIA “allies” and her own betrayal)
Backstory
Mariana is the firstborn and only child of her parents, Alma and Andres. Her parents found themselves in a difficult situation following the second Red Scare, her father was accused of being a communist spy and had most of their rights revoked as a result. Their community shunning them. Andres was later arrested and jailed, where he later died.

Using her skills and intelligence, she was able to master the art of cryptology and use that skill to send out an encoded message to any other communist spies in the area. Mariana ends up in contact with one, Nikita who’s a member of Perseus, he has her do some things to see her value and skills and makes mention of her to Perseus himself. She would work up in the ranks before meeting with the leader and later joining his faction.
Trivia/fun-facts

Mariana has a tattoo of the Perseus symbol above her right breast/near her collarbone and a snake tattoo on her right arm
Mariana got her facial scars during a mission, a scar on her shoulder from getting shot by Adler, and one on her right arm during a mission as well
While knowing a good bit of Russian, Stitch still gave her some tips
During her time as “Bell”, there was some underlying romantic tension between her and Adler though the two never acted on them. Despite having her memories erased, Mariana was vaguely aware of a man that she was close to and that kept her from acting on any feelings she could’ve had for Adler, ofc that man was Stitch
Mariana also swore that if she wasn’t already aware of her sexuality, Park would’ve been her Bi-Awakening
Mariana has a bit of a New York accent along with a Spanish one

Check out our archery exhibit! From Cupid to Katniss: Archery in Popular Culture shows the range (get it? like an archery range?) of material we have about archery in the United States. If you'd like to learn more about what's featured here, click on the read more below!
The Browne Popular Culture Library (BPCL) would like to thank the Wood County Park District (WCPD) for lending us a compound bow and set of arrows. WCPD offers both a range for archers to use with their own equipment and archery lessons with equipment provided. For more information, please visit wcparks.org.
The BPCL would also like to thank graduate student supervisor John King for lending us his bow and arrows for this exhibit.
The Browne Popular Culture Library, founded in 1969, is the most comprehensive archive of its kind in the United States. Our focus and mission is to acquire and preserve research materials on American Popular Culture (post 1876) for curricular and research use. Visit our website at https://www.bgsu.edu/library/pcl.html.
Introduction
Archery has been an important part of many cultures around the world for over 70,000 years, dominating hunting and warfare as the main long-range weapon until firearms became more effective and popular in the 1500s. Archery as a recreational sport emerged in the 1800s in Great Britain and has since spread around the world. Today, archery is practiced in a variety of forms, including competitive and traditional methods, as well as bow hunting.
Because archery has played such an influential role in various cultures, there are many famous archers in folklore, mythology, and popular culture. In the 2010s in the United States, several highly successful movies brought a new wave of popularity to the sport, especially among girls and young women. This exhibit displays only a few of the hundreds of examples of archery in American popular culture.
Different Kinds of Bows
Although there are many different styles of bows around the world, there are three main kinds seen in American popular culture.
Recurve
A recurve bow is what many of the archers in this exhibit use – such as Princess Merida, Katniss Everdeen during the Games, and Kate Bishop – and is the only kind of bow allowed in Olympic archery. The ends of the bow curve away from the archer and are able to store more energy than a traditional longbow at shorter lengths, making them ideal for a wide variety of people. Recurve bows can be made in one long piece, or in three pieces that come apart for easy transportation.
Compound
Compound bows use a system of cables and pulleys to help the archer draw their arrow and store the maximum amount of energy without requiring the archer to hold extreme weight before shooting their arrow. Compound bows are very new compared to recurve bows, as they were only invented in the 1960s. They are very popular among both competition archers and hunters for their increased precision and energy storage.
Longbows
Longbows are one of the oldest kinds of bows in archery history, with examples dating to around 3300 BCE. When strung, they make a D shape and do not curve. Medieval England made heavy use of the longbow in wartime to the point where most common men were required to train with the longbow in case war was declared against a neighboring kingdom. Longbows require more brute strength to use than either recurve or compound bows, and frequent use of the longbow leaves noticeable changes in an archer’s skeleton.
Featured Material
Carolyn Griffith, Frank Gandy, Larry Wise, and Jim Brown, Bear Archery Catalog (1986)
Bear Archery was founded in 1933 by Fred Bear, who wanted to encourage archery as a sport and method of hunting. This 1986 issue of their catalog highlights prize-winning archers who use Bear Archery products. On the right is Jim Brown, the first Black archer to win specific national and international championship titles, despite facing racist discrimination from the mostly white archers he competed against. He started his archery experience at the Mohican Bowmen, the first all-black archery club in the US, in southern Maryland.
The Fundamentals of Japanese Archery (1937) by Toshisuke Nasu, trans. William R. B. Acker
Although Japanese archery – known as kyūdō – similarly saw a decline after the introduction of firearms in the 1500s, its modern version differs from American and European archery in both form and equipment. Kyūdō bows are much longer than western bows, and kyūdō archers pull the arrow back much further than western archers. As a martial art, kyūdō includes spiritual as well as physical development, though this varies wildly between different dōjō. Unlike many Japanese martial arts, kyūdō never became very popular in the United States. One of the main American books about kyūdō is Zen in the Art of Archery (1948) by Eugen Herrigel, which misrepresents the sport as far more mystical than kyūdō actually is. The book on display here, The Fundamentals of Japanese Archery, a translation by William R. B. Acker of instructions by kyūdōka (kyūdō master) Toshisuke Nasu, is more focused on form than spirituality.
Archery (1941), Boy Scouts of America Merit Badge Series
Merit badges in the Boy Scouts of America encourage young scouts to explore and master activities promoting character, citizenship, personal fitness, and leadership. Archery is one of the oldest merit badges and dates back to 1911. When this handbook was written in 1941, Scouts were required not only to learn how to shoot properly, but also to explain range safety rules; proper equipment construction, maintenance, and storage; and the history of archery as a sport.
Princess Merida of Dunbroch, Brave (2012) poster
Merida, the strong-willed daughter of King Fergus, refuses to be married off to her father’s allies and exploits the rules of the Highland Games to compete in an archery tournament, which she easily wins. Merida’s form is considered highly accurate for a recurve archer, especially during the tournament scene in which she declares, “I am Merida, first born descendant of Clan Dunbroch, and I’ll be shooting for my own hand!”
Ann Marston, Shooting Star: The Amazing Life of Ann Marston (2007) by Alana Paluszewski
Although she was born in England, Ann Marston was a successful figure in multiple American popular culture industries, such modelling, pageantry, music production, and, of course, archery. Marston started her archery journey overseas before her family emigrated to Detroit, MI, in order for her father to work at an archery shop. Marston won many junior titles, including first place at the Maumee Valley Bowmen Invitational Tournament in Toledo, OH, and her record-breaking scores enabled her to compete among adult women at age 15 in the 1954 National Field Archery tournament. She also competed in Miss Michigan and, later, Miss America 1960, using archery as her talent demonstration. Because of her youth, skill, and All-American appearance, Marston was a frequent guest on talk shows and in magazines. Unfortunately, Marston had to give up archery when her vision began to fail due to complications from diabetes. Before she passed away at age 32, she managed several rock bands from the Michigan area.
Apollo and Artemis, The Trials of Apollo: The Hidden Oracle (2016) by Rick Riordan
The Greek gods Apollo and Artemis are perhaps two of the most well-known archers from world mythology. They are often attributed with inventing archery and teaching the sport to mankind. In the world of Percy Jackson – the demigod son of Poseidon – Apollo and Artemis play minor roles, until the Trials of Apollo series, which stars Apollo as a god stripped of his divinity and forced to live amongst mortals.
Katniss Everdeen, The Hunger Games (2008) by Suzanne Collins, plus doll.
In The Hunger Games trilogy, Katniss Everdeen volunteers in place of her sister to compete in a battle royale organized by a tyrannical government. Katniss survives in part due to her skill with a bow and arrows, which she uses to hunt food and kill her competitors. The Hunger Games was adapted into a series of four films in 2012. Jennifer Lawrence, the actress who played Katniss, was taught by bronze-winning Olympic archer Khatuna Lorig in how to accurately shoot a recurve bow for the film. The popularity of The Hunger Games film led to a surge of young girls and women joining archery as a sport.
Kate Bishop/Hawkeye, Marvel Comics/Marvel Cinematic Universe
Kate Bishop first made an appearance in Young Avengers #1 (April 2005; pictured here) as a headstrong civilian trained in a variety of martial arts, including a bow and arrows borrowed from the previous Hawkeye, Clint Barton. She starred in her own series in 2016 and again in 2021, among other appearances, as well as in the Disney+ miniseries Hawkeye (2021), where she is played by Hailee Steinfeld. Although Steinfeld learned how to shoot properly for the role, there were no arrows on her bow – they were added later by CGI.
Bow & Arrow Archer’s Digest: The Encyclopedia for All Archers (1971) ed. by Jack Lewis
The Encyclopedia for All Archers is a comprehensive guide to the practice of archery. It covers the history of archery; bowmaking; target shooting; and bowhunting. Although somewhat outdated, the encyclopedia is still an excellent resource for people wanting to learn about archery.
Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Oddities in Sports (1968) by Ripley Enterprises, Inc.
This 50th anniversary celebratory edition for Ripley’s Believe It or Not writes that a man named Baquir Khan Najmai Sani performed “the most amazing feat of archery in all history!” Despite Ripley’s claim that all the stories featured in their books are true, the accuracy of this story is questionable, with no known sources to back it up. However, there are many different kinds of archery trick shots, such as blowing out a candle flame without touching the wax, so Baquir Khan Najmai Sani’s trick is definitely possible! Just difficult.
Archery Handbook (1954) by Edmund H. Burke
Having good arrows that are as identical as possible is one of the most important parts of practicing archery. While modern arrows are made from aluminum or carbon fiber, arrows have historically been made of a variety of wood, such as Port Orford Cedar or birch. This spread from the Archery Handbook shows women mass producing wooden arrows, though the book itself gives instructions for archers to make their own arrows and other equipment.
Susan Pevensie, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (1950)
Susan is the second-oldest of the four Pevensie children who travel to the magical world of Narnia. In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Father Christmas gifted her a magical bow and arrows that always hit their target. In a later book, Prince Caspian (1951), Susan wins an archery competition against the dwarf Trumpkin. Susan was portrayed by Anna Poppelwell, seen here in a photo from the illustrated movie companion to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005).
Adaptive Archery Instruction Manual by USA Archery
Archery is very easy to adapt for people with a wide range of disabilities. USA Archery, the main governing body for Olympic-style archery in the US, has made multiple resources available for coaches and ranges to use when teaching archery in different ways. Adaptations include everything from specialized equipment to range modifications for wheelchairs and canes to smaller group classes. Silver medal Paralympian Matt Stutzman – also known as the Armless Archer – uses his shoulder and legs to shoot instead of his arms and hands.

RADYO BANDERA EXCLUSIVE: A Filipina Descent appears in the 3rd season of The Loud House
ROYAL WOODS, MICHIGAN -- Two individual episodes in Season 3 aired Friday and early Thursday nights (February 2nd, 2018 & August 2nd, 2018 -- Eastern local time) as one Filipino grade school kid introduces a descent character in Michigan, United States of America (U.S.A.), part of the American cartoon series The Loud House on Nickelodeon.
11 y/o Pinay kid named Stella Zhau, whose migrated from the Philippines to the U.S.A. and a permanent resident of Royal Woods, Michigan.
(editor’s note: we censor all the student’s face out due to medium to severe Asian hate issue that does not suitable for kid’s television broadcasting, per MTRCB and FCC rules.)
During her early childhood, she lived in a disclosed small town where she had trouble speaking publicly at an assembly for Teacher's Appreciation Week (TAW), which caused her classmates to make fun of her. As a result, Zhau developed a fear of declamation and failure.
In 2013 or lower at some point in the 5th grader year, Zhau and her family moved the said city due to unexpected reasons, and she began attending Royal Woods Elementary School (RWES).
There, she made new friends, including Lincoln Loud (our Stringer Correspondent for Nickelodeon News) and developed a love of carrot sticks, technology and video games. She even had a crush on Lincoln, and fans have given their relation shipping name Stellacoln.
It remains unclear precisely where she first migrated from the Philippines with some examples of Pampanga, Cubao, Batangas or Dagupan City in the Luzon area.
Speaking to a YouTuber as former storyboard artist and show producer named Darin McGowan: "Stella Zhau on The Loud House is Filipina, confirmed by our writers. I'm afraid I don't have much more info than that though. So yes, it is confirmed", McGowan said via E-Mail correspondent.
Zhau's inclusion in The Loud House is significant as one of the only Asian-American characters' representative in history of the American cartoons. The Loud House will continue to feature characters like her by making more new episodes in the future. Zhau was reaching out on our comment to Radyo Bandera.
(from left to right: Stella Zhau, Liam Hunnicutt, Lincoln Loud, Clyde McBride, Zach Gurdle, Rusty Spokes)
You can stream all previous seasons of The Loud House, available on demand only on Paramount+ and on the Nick website in America. Fans should also check their local listings for new episodes in Season 7 or watch the episodes in your own personal time in reruns.

EREN ÖZTÜRK INTRODUCTION.
meet eren; private investigator banshee
GENERAL
FULL NAME: Eren Öztürk NICKNAME(S): N/A AGE/DATE OF BIRTH: 54 (appears 29), 01/04/1969 GENDER: Cisman PRONOUNS: He/Him OCCUPATION: Private Investigator, and owner of Tower Treasure Detective Agency SPECIES: Fae, Banshee
BIOGRAPHY
TRIGGERS: death, haphephobia, racism, xenophobia, gore
ONCE UPON A TIME there was a boy who fell into a hole.
It’s not a normal way to start a fairy tale, but in the case of Eren Öztürk this was the way his literal fairy life began. Falling face-first into a dark, seemingly endless hole. It was that night that his banshee powers had manifested themselves for the first time within this specific timeline, as well as the defining moment which led him down the path to his current life. Seated in a small office above a laundromat on a corner in Downtown Lunar Cove, surrounded by case files, grainy photographs, and dozens upon dozens of takeout cartons, the banshee often reflects on that pivotal moment way back on that early 80’s autumn day in middle-of-nowhere Pennsylvania and how everything changed forever after.
Eren Öztürk was born to a mechanical engineer and a children’s book writer in Istanbul in 1969. He doesn’t remember his homeland, at least not back in that time, because shortly after in the early 70’s his parents made the decision to migrate to the United States. Settling in a small and charming town in the foothills of Pennsylvania, Eren was set to have a pretty idyllic childhood. Being the only child the Öztürks would ever have – as far as he knew – he had a warm upbringing full of love and everything a young kid like him could ever ask for. Everything seemed absolutely perfect… That was, until it wasn’t. Being an immigrant to the United States in the 20th Century wasn’t exactly the easiest thing, and being one of the only Turkish families in their small town made things worse. When Eren started attending school, he quickly found himself growing into an outsider and began hiding his sweet and warm demeanor behind a stoic and socially anxious exterior. The kids at school made fun of his homemade dishes, a stark contrast to their pizza and chocolate milk carton lunches bought at the cafeteria. They mocked him and his family as they spoke in their native tongues at the supermarket, and they found every way to let him know he was “just too different” from them.
As a result, Eren had only a couple of friends – Frank, his brother Joe, and their oftentimes collaborator, one Nancy Drew. While the other kids ran about the playground playing freeze tag and hide and seek together, Eren spent his recesses in the library, checking out Hardy Boys book after Hardy Boys book. He delighted himself primarily with the mysteries at the core of each adventure, but also the brotherly bond and camaraderie between its main characters – something he always wished he had in his own life. These novels were the first signs of an inquisitive and curious mind, having bred a love for anything mystery and crime detective related, and when Eren was going through puberty and feeling woefully alone, he began to act out. Combined with a bad attitude, which was undeservingly flung at his parents, Eren began sneaking out of the house and running off to a local art theater late at night when they began showing Noirs from the 40’s and 50’s. Films which he quickly became addicted to. Out of the Past, Murder, My Sweet, Kiss Me Deadly — these movies and so many more all became quick favorites for the young boy, who soon after began daydreaming he was a detective in a trench coat and fedora, on a hot case with a femme fatale in a dark and smoky city.
After one such late night excursion, and imagining himself as the quick witted detective at the center of the narrative, Eren left the theater on his bike and cut through the woods which lead to his backyard. It was supposed to be a shortcut, a quick way to get home so he could be tucked back in his bed before his dad checked in on him to ensure he didn’t sneak out again. But one sharp turn turned a simple bike ride through the woods into him stumbling face-first into a barely concealed hole. One that felt like it went on forever, endless and dark. He woke after an indecipherable amount of time in the pitch black, sore and covered in scrapes and bruises. As Eren tried to feel around for something to help him up, his hands felt something softer than the hard, cold ground. Adjusting to the dark, he was able to make out a silhouette of what looked to be an oddly shaped object, which his hand reached towards. Moonlight piercing the clouds revealed it to be a corpse, and as his hand sank into the decomposing flesh, Eren let out the loudest, piercing scream he had ever made or even heard in his entire life. His vision clouded as a chilling vision unfolded, depicting the deceased's final moments — a visceral connection to death that marked the onset of his supernatural gifts.
This was the first time his abilities as a banshee manifested themselves.
The trauma of that encounter lingered, overshadowing the remainder of his youth and impacting his relationship with his parents. The banality of life faded into the background, replaced by the manifestation of even more peculiar abilities – a debilitating scream, the ability to transfer an injury inflicted by his bullies to them, and retractable wings which made for many an awkward moment. But all of those were eclipsed by the even more horrifying ability to witness moments of death from just touching a person. It all made adolescence a confusing and isolating period. He was desperate to escape whatever was going on with him, but especially his parents who were stuck between wanting to help their son with whatever was happening to him and horrified as stranger and newer symptoms of his unknown curse made themselves known. He couldn’t stand the terrified look on his mother’s face, or his father’s confusion which quickly turned to frustration when Eren lashed out when they tried to make sense of everything going on with their teenage son. Or the hurt that crossed their faces when he refused their touches, caresses of love and concern from a parent watching their son become undone. The last thing any kid wanted was to see how their parents would die, long before the event itself happened.
The second that Eren came of age in the late '80s, he had made a rather difficult choice. He couldn’t stay there, with parents who would likely never understand what he was going through and in a town where he wasn’t accepted when he was at his most “normal”. So he left home – without farewells, leaving behind the tearful visage of his mother as his last memory of her. His search for answers regarding his strange abilities propelled him into a nomadic existence, hopping from place to place, country to country, continent to continent, searching for something he wasn’t quite sure of, avoiding attachments all along the way. It seemed all across the world there were many places with their own myths to explain what was happening to him, but nothing concrete beyond old wive’s tales. No documented cases of another going through what he was, from what he could find. His existence quickly became the one mystery that Eren had no way of solving.
With little to nothing to work with, he gave up on his soul searching for a moment and made his way to Turkey, his homeland which he only heard about in stories and in faded memories from when he was really quite young. All his life he had felt like an outsider looking in, only feeling a sense of belonging within the pages of old children’s mystery novels. When he arrived in Turkey, things were instantly somewhat different. For once, he didn’t feel like he didn’t belong, he felt like just another face in the crowd, blending in fully to the environment around him. It felt like maybe things would be alright, maybe he found some happiness despite all the strange occurrences surrounding his existence. He still had the premonitions which haunted him any time he came in contact with people and sometimes objects which formerly belonged to others. This gave way for a severe case of haphephobia, which made him awkward and anxious when out in public. This being the only thing that marred his time home in Istanbul, he didn’t think of it as a major tell as to the supernatural things which had been going on in his life. But he was wrong, there was someone who was able to notice something was off about him and was able to quickly deduce what was going on.
When Zehra first approached him, he didn’t know how to take her boldness, especially when she began asking him about his wings and if this was his “first life”. Of course it was his first life – as far as he knew, this was his only life – but her vagueness gave way to more transparent explanations and soon Eren was getting the explanation he had longed for for a handful of years now. According to Zehra, he, much like her, was a faerie, only he was one called a banshee whereas she was a siren. Suddenly everything about himself made sense, and all because of this stranger who was able to recognize the shared struggles of their kind. Slowly, they forged a profound friendship, and Zehra became Eren's guide, helping him understand his banshee abilities, introducing him to a supernatural world within their own. With her he found his first family outside of his parents, and they worked on his trauma and helped him make sense of his past. Eren knew he was finally with someone who understood him when Zehra gifted him with his first pair of leather gloves. “You know,” she had said warmly, “To help you with your fears.”
He was content to stay there in Turkey with Zehra, but as quickly as he learned about the broad supernatural world they were part of, he learned there were those who wanted to destroy it. Hunter activity was growing across Europe and Asia during that time, and so the fae duo knew they would need to keep moving if they wanted to survive. At Zehra’s insistence they began moving westward. She had heard talk of a supernatural haven back in the States which many of her compatriots had either come from or escaped to. While the thought of going back homeward gave him anxiety, a sense of self preservation prevailed and the pair began slowly making their way towards Lunar Cove, Rhode Island. Between 1988 and 1991, they found themselves settling in towns here and there, meeting others like them and of different species, and trying to find some sense of normalcy wherever they could. Wherever they stayed Eren would pay keen attention to the local goingons, and Zehra was surprised to see the young banshee quietly following and even solving some of the local crimes which were being documented by the public, talked about in small coffee shops and diners.
During a particularly long stay in a town in the Southern US, Eren went as far as crossing paths with detectives on a cold case and made light comments after touching something he was supposedly not allowed to touch. He may have been the anonymous tip to help things progress to justice. While talking over coffee in the middle of the night at a Waffle House in Alabama, Zehra made a throwaway comment about them opening a Private Investigation agency together when they settled in Lunar Cove. At first he shrugged it off, but as they continued their northward travel the thought became more and more appealing. When they finally crossed the barrier into Lunar Cove in the spring of 1993, Eren decided he would make that vision a possibility. Working days bussing tables at an Italian restaurant while he spent nights getting his criminal justice degree at the local college, it seemed like this was the cherry on top of Eren’s life turning out just as it was meant to be. So much so that he stopped aging in 1998, finally feeling his true self. When he got his PI license, Eren began renting out a small office space above a laundromat in Downtown Lunar Cove, and thus the Tower Treasure Detective Agency was born – aptly named after the first Hardy Boys adventure which started his long journey towards amateur sleuthing and now real detective work. Things were going great, perfect even, and after skirting around their feelings for so long, Eren and Zehra finally progressed their friendship into a romantic connection.
The turn of the century brought with it many changes. Tower Treasure was doing well, mostly dealing in smaller crime cases that the local authorities didn’t pay as much attention to, as well as targeting cold cases in the greater local area in order to earn some extra big cash. With his banshee abilities, Eren began taking on more and more cases regarding inexplicable deaths, using his premonitions to help families get a glimpse of exactly what may have happened when their loved ones perished and providing much needed closure and even a bit of grief counseling as a result. It was simple and sweet, it made those visions which oftentimes plagued him and scared him as a youth into something good for the community, at least he tried to think of it that way. It didn’t always pan out that way and in his seemingly perfect life, there were some cracks which exposed a less happy underbelly. No matter what positive spin he tried to put on things, Eren still suffered with his phobias and fears, as well as an unending guilt for having never reconnected with his parents who likely would always wonder what exactly happened to their boy. Zehra had been supportive of everything he went through, but every person had their individual needs and soon enough she wasn’t feeling as fulfilled as she hoped. And despite himself, Eren pulled away from most everyone and everything. The visions of death began having a toll on him once again, and he found himself pulling more into himself after years and years of detective work. Solidarity has always been his best coping mechanism.
Eventually Zehra left, citing a desire to go back to Europe and find some of the others they used to commune with. Eren knew she didn’t want him to feel bad for not being adequate for her and he comforted himself with the thought that she was back in Europe or Asia, living out her vivid and interesting life and hopefully in the arms of someone who could love her properly. It felt better to think that way than to imagine hunters found her and she had regenerated, or worse. Since she left, Eren never took on another partner in his detective work, or personal life. Left alone, aside from his only lasting employee which was an eternally middle aged vampire secretary with a nasally voice and penchant for knit cardigans decorated with woodland creatures, his agency continued on — still bringing closure to Lunar Cove’s residents in death whenever it’s needed, but with his somewhat dreary case load he’s lost a bit of love for the work over the past couple decades. Now it seemed he was just robotically going through the motions of work and life, as he has been over the past couple decades now. His social life remained minimal, not interacting much beyond his clients and the other members of the fae court, and he shied away from forming new attachments, being haunted by the fear of another heartbreak. Life reached a standstill, a boring downhill slide…
That was, until the Catalyst arrived.
With the chaos and turmoil enveloping Lunar Cove due to the mysterious Catalyst, Eren has found himself contemplating the unfolding mystery between his usual lighter case load. Alone in his dimly lit office, surrounded by the remnants of takeout and mountains of case files he ought to be working on instead, he often reflects on the facts laid out before him on a board hung up on his wall. Photographs, newspaper clippings, and anything he could find about the town’s biggest adversary, pinned up on a corkboard with red lines crossing over all of it, connecting invisible dots he’s yet to figure out, but delights in seeing. The prospect of a tumultuous mystery has been slowly rekindling Eren’s passion for detective work, as the promise of more danger and chaos looms on Lunar Cove’s horizon and ensures that something bigger than they’ve witnessed yet is surely on its way. And Eren Öztürk welcomes the developments, taking in each and every thing that comes up, and prepares to face the shadows that he hopes will soon darken his agency's doorstep. In the meantime, he continues paying close attention to the goings on, doing what little work comes his way, and keeping a careful eye on every new face that shows up in Lunar Cove. In this new chapter of his dark fairy tale life, everyone is suspect. That is, until he can prove their innocence beyond a reasonable doubt.
HEADCANONS
Typically wears all black, a mix between casual and dressy, in particular is usually in a suit and tie but sometimes rocks a tee and leather jacket. The one thing Eren is never without are his gloves. Black or Brown leather racing gloves which he wears to help him interact with the world without a fear of seeing things he doesn’t want to (outside of work) or direct touching with others
Doesn’t invite and has never invited a single person into his home. If you want to see him privately, go to his office, but don’t ever expect to make a house visit.
Has a very dry sense of humor and delivers teasing banter in a very monotonous voice. If you didn’t know him, you may construe this as mean but he is actually a very sweet person. He just rarely shows that side of him to others.
He appears young, but he’s an old man at heart. He loves sitting at the park and playing chess with others, his favorite show is the nightly news, and he will complain about nonexistent back pains. His sensibilities skew towards older interests, namely with music and media. He loves noir films from the 40’s and 50’s but also loves his 80’s coming of age films, and carries a Walkman and mixtapes of 80’s hits on any case. If he’s doing a stakeout there’s a 100% chance he’s listening to Tears For Fears or Spandau Ballet.
No hookups, no romantic relationships, nothing beyond professional (even for his few platonic relationships) — he’s afraid of touch and there isn’t a single exception to the touch rule. Aside from his dog. He needs cuddles somewhere, the poor man.
idk more will come to me I’m sure lol
