🧊–LEE TENSHI ¡! ✥
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, that was too obvious, BUT THEY ARE BEST FRIENDS. They've been friends since 2012, that's so long...
They were united by the fact that they were the only girls in a male group.
Tenshi is a very sweet "big sister".
Tenshi and Lily smells like lemon, sea and summer.
They are everywhere together, well, literally everywhere. The Sasaengs (yiwu) have a lot of photos of them together, as do the paparazzi.
Tenshi is so wise to Lily. 🥹
One is very active, and the other is calm.
They talk about each other publicly and actively support each other.
Tenshi literally went everywhere with Lily when Lily took rest. Tenshi did not leave her side (I will write a drabble about this)
Lily is very tactile with her, too much so.
Joint Live? YES. TikTok? YES.Songs? Maybe)
🧊–JEON JUNGKOOK¡! ✥
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her second best friend from BTS.
Jungkook as positive battery Lily.
ARMY often noticed her on Jungkook's live, but he was silent about her 😠
They starred in a commercial for Calvin Klein together.
Inappropriate fans believe that they are together.
Maybe they will record songs together???
Lily says her ideal type of man is Jungkook.
In difficult moments they are so comfortable with each other.
SHE LOVES HIS SONGS, SHE HAS THEM ON REPEAT 24/7.
Lily introduced Chan and Jungkook, now they are also friends.
Jungkook used to be very shy about Lily, but he is her first guy friend:((
Lily sometimes cooks for him, and he just fools around with her.
Frequently joke with each other on social media.
🧊–IM NAYEON¡! ✥

MY GOD.. HER BUN, HER BUNNY, HER CUTEST AND LITTLE BOY 🥺🥺🥺
LILY AND MINGI ARE LITERALLY SOULMATES AND THEY ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST.

In the summer they organize a fight against insects, and the pothos themselves run away from them.
Okay...they're having a drink whiskey together.
They became even closer during Kingdom!
Lily is Ateez's biggest fan and especially Mingi!
Mingi and Lily are very loud with each other, that can't be changed.

kpop enthusiast??? (what groups!!!!!!!!!!!)
I could talk about this all day. @honeekyuu can attest.
I actually got into kpop dance by joining a dance group before I ever really listened/got into kpop. I just thought the dancing was sick and cool—and these were people who looked like me—and I wanted to look sick and cool, too.
youtube started recommending me various mvs after I was rewatching dance practice videos on repeat to, well, practice dancing, and everything kind of domino-effect-attacked me from there.
(I love doing kpop dance covers. truly and without exaggeration, learning to dance to kpop choreography—and with a group no less—was a turning point in my life, in terms of personal/social/character development, and it sounds pretty lame when I say it like this, but honee can corroborate me when I say that kpop dance made me a Changed Man. one minor example: I used to have crippling stage fright, and now I'm here deeply missing the feeling of performing and competing on stage. anyway)
I listen to both boy groups and girl groups musically, but usually tend to follow boy groups more closely. this is going to be a nonexhaustive list, but if anyone wants to hear more I welcome more (and more specific) follow-up questions
more mainstream groups first:
bts was (as is common) my gateway group, and their discography is probably the one I'm most thoroughly familiar with.
nct (all units including wayv and excluding wish—nothing against them, just haven't gotten the motivation to listen to their stuff)
seventeen
the boyz
stray kids
monsta x
enhypen
txt
shinee
exo
some ateez
lesser known:
cix (this discography is incredible. don't know what's going to happen now though with bae jinyoung's exit)
evnne (trouble and k.o....)
there's a lot more groups I listen to + some groups that I don't follow that extensively but have a handful of songs that I have regularly on repeat. if anyone wants kpop song recommendations for hyper-specific situations or moods or whatnot, hmu

Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6
The remainder of the week stayed about the same. The female omega had bouts of sanity in which she still talked in slight riddles, like she knew what she wanted to say but had a hard time recalling exact details. Then there were other times where she repeated her chants of numbers or she would mumble phrases that Namjoon came to realize where things they, his pack, had said to her. Some things that apparently stuck with her and she threw them into her loop.
There was a notepad found under her pillow when the sheets were being changed. It was one of his and she also wrote these messages down. He let her keep the booklet, he didn't see any harm in it. Maybe one day it would help her sort her thoughts out in a way he could completely understand. Namjoon also figured out that she would quote books if it felt appropriate during whatever scenario was happening and so he found two books from home and left them in his office.
His office. Where he wasn't, not completely by choice. Jin wanted him home. Needed him to be as he missed most of the week with them all. While he enjoyed being with his pack and getting an overflowing amount of attention, he still felt anxious about not being in the clinic. The doctor let out a great sigh while he looked at his phone again, still waiting for Dr. Wang to let him know how the omega was doing.
Meanwhile at the clinic, Dr. Wang was reluctant to help with the case considering the female had attacked him upon waking last time. However, Jinyoung had talked to his Alpha and explained how Dr. Kim had been at the medical unit for several days without going home. Being an alpha himself, Dr. Wang knew how being away from the pack can affect everyone's mental and physical health.
Dr. Wang looked down at the message on his phone, he had read it several times and was purposely ignoring the text from Dr. Kim. His colleague needed to separate work and home and just pay attention to his pack. The last thing the clinic needed was for Namjoon to get burned out because he didn’t know when to stop and take care of his own needs. Jackson looked over to the omega studying her with his ever watchful eyes. If he had to be honest, besides her unstable mind she would be fit to leave the clinic. Her injuries were healing and she started to put on a very small amount of weight - but the trending upward numbers were better than a downward spiral. Maybe he could start mentioning mental health clinics so they could get her out of there.
Jackson called her name, watching her head snap up away from the book she was reading. He knew she was wary around him, knowing that he wasn’t very fond of her. He praised her for having the common sense to put that together. He actually had not talked to her until the morning after her attack on him, she had given a soft, teary apology. He did appreciate that but also informed her that he wasn’t trusting of her and to try to stay away from him.
He stared her in the eyes for a few seconds, the day so far had been good - she wasn’t chanting or rocking her entire body. In fact she had been so still and quiet he had almost forgotten she was there. Since she was having a good mental day, then maybe he could find out more of her background and what exactly happened to her. "Come chat for a few minutes." He instructed her.
The omega blinked at him twice before she registered his request. She moved quickly, doing much better on her feet now that she was properly being taken care of. She came to a short stop right in front of him. "Yes, Dr. Wang?" Her voice was soft and sweet, if he didn’t know any better he would have dropped his guard and had her sit on his knee. A small, alphaless omega who needed to be protected - but she wasn’t. She could have an entire pack looking for her. It was logical that they helped her get better faster so she could return home.
"I want you to try and think for me. I know Dr. Kim has tried to get you to remember stuff without much success but I think today is a good day to try again."
She bit her bottom lip and nodded her head. "Okay, I'll try."
"We can start easy. Where are you right now?"
"The medical unit of Sejin’s Rescue."
"Good. What's your name?"
She responded, answering all his questions - sometimes pausing to try and think harder about some of his questions - but with much dismay there had been no new answers or changes to her old ones. She didn't know how she got into the woods. She didn’t know why she was in such poor condition. She didn’t know if she had a pack or an alpha. Each time she said she didn’t know the doctor grew more and more frustrated, he didn’t know why. He had amnesia patients during his residency and didn’t have issues when they couldn’t answer his questions. He wasn’t sure why she got him so heated by not knowing anything that was of true value.
“The two omegas that were found after you, do you know their names? One was male and the other was female. Surely you knew them - you wore the same bracelet as them.” He watched her eyes become unfocused and her hands raised into her hair, gripping onto the roots as her breathing increased.
“I - I don’t know. I don’t know.” Her brain was going into a tizzy, the sour smell of her panic started to fill the air. "One. Eight. Nine. I counted them. One eight nine, one eight nine…"
"For love of…!" Jackson raised his voice in annoyance as he punched the table next to him slightly but hard enough to make noise. It caused the female to drop to the floor and curl in on herself as she kept at her manta. "Snap out of it, Omega." He rose to his feet as he tried to use his Alpha voice to reach her, but since she wasn’t his pack she didn’t have to listen and so her body didn’t. Instead he took a deep breath and tried to stay calm before attempting to talk to her again. Kneeling down in front of her, he was about to speak her words changed in her chant.
"If you stay quiet, they will leave you alone. They will leave you alone, they will leave you alone, they will leave you alone."
That was new, at least Jackson never heard of it. He took a chance and decided to try and run with what she was talking about. He stayed crouched down to her eyes level but kept a reasonable distance from her. "What happens if you make noise?"
"... leave you-" Her eyes snapped to him as she cut off her new manta. "Shh." She held a finger to her lips to silence him as she looked frightened.
He tried again. "What do they do if you make noise?" He whispered, trying to get into her headset, pretending that there could be someone who could be listening in.
"If I make noise? I have to make noise - I have to protect the others. If you stay quiet, they will leave you alone. Protect the others. Protect them." She whispered in a small whine, almost as if she was encouraging herself. "One eight seven - no wait, one eight nine. Yes, one eight nine. No more. No more! No more!!" The omega let out a sobbed scream as she started to thrash around, knocking things off the table as she shuffled back on her bum and bumped into it. "No more! Just me! Just me!" She began to hit her head with her fists. “Please! Please, just me!!”
Dr. Wang was quick, grabbing onto her arms to keep herself from getting hurt more or hurting him. "Jinyoung, grab a sedative!" He called out to his packmate, who was off doing inventory in the office.
“Please,” She looked him in the eyes pleading something that he wouldn’t know. “Just me, not the others. Please.” She sobbed, gripping onto his forearms that were still holding her shoulders.
Jinyoung rushed out of the office, grabbed a pre-set syringe from a tray, and pressed it into the omegas thigh. She struggled for another moment, giving Dr, Wang a look of betrayal as she slumped into his arms, whimpering out a pleading ‘please’. The look she gave made a chill go down his spine - he wondered for a moment if she was seeing him or someone she once knew.
"Alpha, are you okay?" The male omega questioned, looking over his alpha for any injuries.
"Yeah, she just lost grip on reality. I'll have to call Namjoon about this. Let's get her into bed."
Once the female was back in her bed, strapped down, just in case she woke up in the wrong mindset, Jackson pulled his cell phone out and found the saved contact he was looking for. He felt bad for this but he knew that this was something that needed to be told to Namjoon now and not something that would be sat on. The phone rang once before a concerned voice answered. Jackson sighed into the receiver. “Hey Joon, she had another episode as I was trying to question her. I think you might need to come back when she wakes back up.”
Namjoon looked over to Jin, who was sitting next to him on the couch. The Beta was obviously eavesdropping and had an unhappy expression on his face. “I’ll see what I can do. I might just stop in with Jin so I don’t stay the whole night.” He noted his Beta perk up at that. “Yes, just let me know when she’s awake again and I’ll head over.”
He hung the phone up and looked at the rest of the pack who all took the day off to bed with him. “Jackson tried to ask her questions again and apparently it led her into another episode. He told me they needed to sedate her - so I should at least check in on her. I won’t stay long - I won’t do that to you all. I’ll take Jin with me to make sure. I just want to check on her.”
“Joon, you’re a great doctor - but so is Dr. Wang. Can’t he just take care of it for today? You’ll be back there tomorrow." Taehyung asked from his spot on the floor next to Namjoon’s leg. The omega rested his chin on his alpha’s knee, looking terribly sad at the thought of his alpha leaving them.
Namjoon sat forward, coming closer to the Omega before reaching out and cupping the omega’s chin. “I understand Tae. This patient… She’s a little different than most. In fact, I haven’t had someone this broken before. The last extremely hard case I had was Yoongi - and compared to her, he wasn’t even this bad.”
“I want to help fix her. She’s broken Tae. She has no pack that we know of. No one has been looking for her-”
“And she’s straight out of her mind. You said it yourself, she’s seen horrible things and had horrible things done to her. I love you Joon, but seriously think about this case - it’s more of a bite than you can chew.” Yoongi snapped.
Jungkook whined at his alpha’s words, curling into Yoongi’s chest to try and calm him.
“Yoongi -”
“No Joon, if you’re gonna compare her to when you had to deal with me then let’s look at the facts. For me, I wasn’t trusting of others, my pack abandoned me. They all left to go with another alpha. It fucked my brain up. I wouldn’t eat, sleep, or take care of myself. That was my choice - I didn't want to. I didn’t want to live. I wanted to die so badly, but then Hoseok had to be the hero and found my sorry ass at my lowest low.” There was a fire in Yoongi’s eyes. “Do you know what it was like to have two alphas taking care of me? At the time I was so embarrassed and I wished you both had just let me go and do my own thing. But then Hoseok found Jungkook. I saw him, I saw how skittish he was and I had this overwhelming desire to help him. I needed to and that’s when I started to build myself back up. It was my choice - I wanted that.”
Jungkook chirped quietly as he wrapped his arms around the man and pressed small kisses to his throat. “Please Yoongi, please calm down.”
Yoongi took a deep breath and wrapped his arms around the youngest, nuzzling into his hair. “She’s not like me Joon. She didn’t choose this. I was emotionally broken but she’s… she’s all jacked in the head. You do realize you won’t be able to fix her alone?”
The room fell quiet but the tension was thick. “I’m sorry Yoongi. I shouldn’t have compared her to you. I didn’t mean it in that sense. I just meant you were difficult when you came in. One of the hardest cases because you didn’t want the help at first. I knew you were embarrassed as an Alpha to have two other Alpha’s taking care of you. I know you had to build yourself up and choose to get better. I'm sorry, I won't make the comparison again."
"What if she had more than one Alpha taking care of her?" Hoseok questioned suddenly.
“She does.” Namjoon answered, slightly confused. Dr. Wang technically was the second alpha even if he wasn’t fully on her case.
“No, like what if we helped?”
Yoongi snapped his eyes over to his fellow alpha, he was already annoyed about what Namjoon said and now Hoseok was suggesting crazy ideas.
“Oh, I would love to help hyung.” Jimin spoke up. “I have enjoyed my visits with her so far.” It wasn’t a shock to anyone. Jimin had sent as much time as he could with the female omega, coming home after each visit like a lovestruck pup. He said there was something about being near here that made him feel a calming bliss that he craved.
Namjoon was sure that she was Jimin’s soulmate. He didn’t bring it up to the rest of the pack but I think they all had an idea that similar thoughts ran through their heads. The way Jimin acted around her was very similar to how Hoseok acted with Taehyung and Yoongi acted with Jungkook.
The room started to fill with hopeful energy. Taehyung sat up on his knees and nodded his head to Namjoon, if they took care of her together then maybe Namjoon would be around more often. He just wanted his whole pack home all the time. Jin seemed to be considering this as a positive suggestion as well. While Jungkook shifted in Yoongi’s lap, getting happy with the excited energy.
“I won’t do it.” Yoongi growled sharply. The room froze, all voices cut to a stop while they all turned to look at him. “I can’t agree to put our entire pack in danger everyday for this omega. We should be trying to find her pack, a safe house or a mental health facility.”
“Yoongi -”
“No, Jimin! Can you promise me that she’s not a threat? Can you guarantee that there isn’t some crazed, abusive Alpha who isn’t trying to find her? I don’t even want Joon to be near her, it’s bad enough he has to go to work everyday. I know you enjoy being near her and you have small chats with her during her cleared state of mind, but she’s not always like that. Joon has been working tirelessly with her issues. She needs total professional help.”
There was a pause between the two alphas before a sigh rang out. “If Yoongi is uncomfortable with the pack being near her then we won’t have anyone near her. That means no more visits at work. I’m her doctor - I can’t abandon her and I won’t discharge her until I feel she is at the right stage in her treatments and healing.” Namjoon could feel the disappointment within the pack after this decision was made, however, since Yoongi was uncomfortable with the idea then he couldn’t let it fly.The decisions of the pack must always be unanimous among the alphas at least, but also the rest of the pack as well.
“Does that mean I have to stay here when you run to the clinic?” Jin asked, sounding a little upset.
“No, you may come with me this time Jin. I think that would be fair, you can make sure I don’t stay too long as we already decided before our conversation.”
***
Namjoon arrived to find the omega tied down to the bed, she was awake and looking at the ceiling. No words passed her lips, she didn’t even move to look at them when they walked in. “I’m going to speak with Dr. Wang.” He stated as he left Jin behind at the doors and headed toward the office room.
Jin looked over to the omega and took slow steps toward her. He noted how she didn’t move, other than the rhythmic moving of her chest up and down as she breathed. “Unnie?” He whispered to her, but she didn’t respond - she just kept staring at the ceiling. He tried again, just a little bit louder. “Unnie?”
“ ‘ But you are crazy.’ “ The omega spoke softly but not in her regular voice, almost as if she was doing a character voice and it threw Jin off for a moment. “I know.” Her voice changed again, almost as if a different character was talking now. “Do you know how I know? Because the palace walls have been bleeding for years, and no one else sees it?” She turned her eyes to look at Jin and continued in the same voice. “No one believes me, but in some corridors, the blood has gotten so thick there’s nowhere safe to step. When I have to pass through those places, I leave a trail of bloody footprints for the rest of the day, and then I worry that the queen’s soldiers will follow the scent and eat me up while I’m sleeping. Some nights I don’t sleep very well. But if the blood was real, the servants would clean it up. Don’t you think?”
“What are you-” Jin was utterly confused, questioning her before she cut him off.
“They think I’m crazy, and maybe I might be. But why am I so scared all the time Jin?” She asked him, this time in her regular voice.
He paused at her question, his mind was reeling. She talked of bloodied corridors and now she is asking him why she’s scared. Why was she talking like this? It took him a moment but then he remembered that Namjoon stated to him that she liked to talk in quotes from books. “I don’t know why you’re always scared. I wish you weren’t though.”
“Hm. Me too.” She turned her head back to look at the ceiling again.
Jin pulled out his phone and started to type what he remembered her saying. A novel came up called Cress and it had the quote that she recited to him. “Did you enjoy that book series? The Lunar Chronicles?”
“Yes, though I can’t remember all of it. I wish I could.” She frowned. “Did you like it?”
Jin froze. “No, I haven’t read it.”
“It’s a good one. You should read it.” She was quiet for a moment again. “It’s better when you or any of your pack members are here. The silence is a killer.”
“I’m sorry about that.” Jin gave her a soft smile and noticed Namjoon was coming out of the office.
The doctor reached the side of her bed and gave a soft, unsteady smile. From what he heard from Dr. Wang made him wary of her past. “Hey, how are you feeling?”
She blinked slowly and turned her attention to him. “Tired. Scared. It happened again, didn’t it?”
“Yes, Dr. Wang said it started when he was asking you some questions.”
She nodded her head. “Hm. I can’t think of it right now. I must be too tired.” She closed her eyes to rest. “Thank you for coming to visit me. I’m happy.” She opened her eyes again and sent him a smile.
“Of course, let me check your vitals while I’m here. I’m going to undo your restraints, are you okay with that?” He asked.
“Yes, doctor.” Once the bindings were off her, she sat up slowly and turned to dangle her legs off the side of the bed, she shifted so she was right in front of Namjoon. She sent a smile at Jin ‘Unnie, are you really okay alone?’ the Beta’s first words to her rang in circles around her head.
He checked her eyes, making sure her eyes dilated normally, he then checked her reflexes, happy to see everything was normal. His hands cradled her face for a moment before his hands slid to both sides of her neck, feeling her lymph nodes on each side.
She would never admit it but she enjoyed when his hands touched her skin. Unlike most doctors, his hands were warm, soft and most importantly safe. She wished she could curl into his arms and feel safe forever. Her happy thoughts were disrupted as he pulled back and smiled at her.
“All good.” He sighed in relief. “We have to head out now.”
She didn’t even try to hide her disappointment. “Oh, okay…”
“I’ll be back in the morning for my regular shift.”
“Okay…”
Namjoon looked over at Jin, both unsure what to say to the omega. Both of them wanted to stay now, but they knew the pack was waiting at home and Namjoon couldn’t go against his word. “Try to have a good night, darlin’.”
She nodded her head but her eyes didn’t leave her hands that were in her lap. The way she was reacting to them leaving was ripping into Namjoon’s heart and he knew that wasn’t good. He shook his head and stepped back slowly.
It wasn’t until the two males started to walk away that she talked again. “Hey doctor?” She was glad they stopped in their steps. “Do you think Jimin will come to visit again soon? I miss talking with him.”
“I’ll see when he is free to come again.” Lies. They just talked about the pack staying away from her, but he couldn’t break her heart - not when she was already sad. Namjoon forced a smile at her as he gripped Jin’s hand, pouring his sadness into the squeeze he gave his Beta.
She smiled at him again. “Thank you.” She then turned her attention to grab the book she was reading earlier, fluffing her blanket around her in a half circle around her, almost like she was trying to form a small nest around herself.
Namjoon and Jin walked out of the clinic and Namjoon let his emotions show on his face.. “I feel bad about lying to her about Jimin. I know she enjoys the company when I’m busy.”
“She told me that it's better when our pack members are near her. She said the silence is a killer. Does Jackson not talk to her?”
The words that came from Jin’s mouth hurt Namjoon’s heart. “No. He doesn’t want to interact with her more than he needs to - especially now, since he triggered one of her episodes today. Apparently she started chanting new things, words that indicated that she might have taken beatings or some form of punishment for others instead. Jackson feels bad for triggering something like that for her. Meanwhile, I feel guilty. I know she’s lost. I know she craves the company, the pack… I shouldn’t be as upset as I am. She’s not our pack - so why do I feel bad that she misses Jimin?”
Jin hugs his alpha, hoping to take some of the anxiety and stress from his shoulders. “I know Joon. I know. She’s been through a lot and you have a golden heart. I think you’re aware of how well her and Jimin get along - hell the whole pack knows. You feel bad that you’re keeping them away from each other.” Jin felt Namjoon tense in his arms. “I don’t mean it in a bad way. What did Jackson say?”
“He basically is in agreement with Yoongi, she shouldn’t be here. Jackson thinks she should go to a mental health facility. She’s really messed up.” He went into full detail in what Jackson had told him and as he explained what happened between Dr. Wang and herself, Namjoon could feel Jin get more and more sad.
Jin frowned. “Joon, I hate this. No one should deal with what she’s gone through. It seems like Jackson and yourself are on the boat with Yoongi. I don’t like the mental facilities or trust them recently. I’ve seen too many articles about so many organizations that have been investigated only to find out that they’re abusing or killing our kind. I know Yoongi won’t allow others to help you take care of her but I refuse to let her go to some random facility. I won’t allow it unless you find one that will guarantee her safely 100 percent. You should make it so that you have visiting rights to keep up with her physical health.”
Namjoon pulled his Beta into a hug, hoping that they could help each other feel better. “I’ll do some research if we go that route. Until then, I’ll just have to stay with her.”
****
It took all of a week of intense research before Namjoon found a facility that he even considered transferring the female omega to. During that week, she had been doing so well. She was mostly quiet, thankfully not losing herself as much and was looking healthier. She thrived in the moments that he was near her, lighting up like the sun. Her scent of happiness poured in tidal waves whenever he was around. He understood that he was a safe spot for her, as a doctor should be. She still couldn’t remember much but Namjoon was happy with her physical progress.
He was playing a memory game with her, flipping over cards that matched - testing how well she would do in hopes it would help her recall other things for herself. It was at this time when he decided to talk with her about her care. “Darlin’, I’ve been so proud of you this week.” His heart skipped a beat when she gave him a huge grin, pleased with his praise. “You’ve been doing so well with your recovery and I think we should advance to the next step in your care.”
"Okay, what's that?" She asked as she matched another set of tile cards.
He looked her up and down, not sure if what he was going to say would upset her or not. She was already slightly curled in on herself, something that he realized she did a lot. It was almost like she wasn't comfortable in the environment but she always seemed comfortable enough with him.
The delay in his response made her look at him warily. "What is it?" She whispered, worry dripping from her throat, her scent starting to turn a little sour.
"The next step is transferring you to a mental health facility. I researched a bunch of places, and I found one that I deem would be a best-"
The sound of heavy breathing cut him off. Her eyes were wide, her chest heaving in big gasps and she curled herself tighter. The sour scent wafted out in buckets where he started to feel nauseous immediately from it. He instantly regretted bringing it up like this..
"I'm sorry!" She choked out.
His heart shattered, she sounded so broken. "What are you sorry for darling?" He asked as he moved closer to console her but she backed away at his movements. He froze, she hadn’t done that since the first day he met her. He knew she always found a sense of comfort in him, he could tell when her scent always changed into something warm and welcoming.
"I'll be good. I'm sorry. Please don't send me away. I'll be good, I promise. I promise. I promise…" She began to say it over and over again as tears poured down her cheeks.
Whenever he tried to get closer she would shift away, folding into herself, knees to chest. "You've done nothing wrong, dear."
She didn't hear his words over her own. She did something wrong to upset him and she wasn't sure how to fix that except to promise to be good. She tried to think about the past week, where she could have gone wrong, what upset him so much. Why did he want to send her away? Was it because of her episode with Dr. Wang? It must have been. She hasn’t seen any of his pack since then and he didn’t stay as late anymore. She felt the ground shift and she was spiraling. “Little Alice fell d o w n the hOle, bumped her head and bruised her soul.” She muttered before she apologized over and over and over again.
Namjoon whined and pinched the bridge of his nose. Dr. Wang was out of the office, bringing his mates out on vacation and so Namjoon did the only thing he could do at a time like this. He grabbed his cell phone and dialed home. He didn’t want to sedate her with drugs anymore, he didn’t like how she was after, cold and stale, almost lifeless. The phone rang three times before Yoongi picked up. Namjoon winced, he wished it wasn’t Yoongi, he knew how the alpha felt about the omega, but then was he going to call someone else and hide this request behind Yoongi’s back? No, no he wouldn’t. “Hey babe - listen I need a favor and I don’t care which alpha does it - but I need help with my patient.”
“What do you mean Joon?” Yoongi asked, already feeling his mood change for the worse.
“She’s having another episode and this one was my fault.”
“It probably wasn’t your fault Joon, she’s jacked in -”
“I talked about the mental health facility with her and she just started apologizing. I don’t think she was ready to talk about it.”
Yoongi was silent for a moment, he could hear the devastation in his alpha’s voice. He pressed the phone closer to his ear and he could hear her chanting over and over. He made him sad for her, but he needed to be strong for his pack and protect his pack. He let out a sigh. “Joon, it’s not your fault. You’re doing what you need to as a doctor. Whether she likes it or not, she needs mental help. What favor do you need?”
“I need another alpha here to help me with her. Help me calm her down.”
“Joon…” Yoongi grumbled. “We made a deal about the pack being near her.”
“I know, I know. I intended for it to stay how you wanted it - but Jackson is out for the week and I could use the help. She won’t let me near her.”
Yoongi rolled his eyes in annoyance. “I really am against this - I don’t support the special treatment, but if you're requesting help then I won’t deny it. I won’t be volunteering. Hoseok is at work or I’m sure he would be running over there. I’ll see if Jimin will come.”
Namjoon looked over at the omega, she was still curled into a ball, tears were running down her face and the way her eyes were unfocused he knew she was lost in her head. He wished he could hear her thoughts, to know exactly what self torture she was putting herself through.
“Jimin said he will be there soon.” Yoongi spoke as he returned to the phone.
“Thank you Yoongi, I mean it.”
“Don’t thank me, thank Jimin.”
“Still, I appreciate you and how much you care and protect our pack.”
Yoongi gently sighed, not out of annoyance but just to let everything go. “I know. I love you. I’ll see you when you get home.”
“Love you too.”
***
When Jimin arrived she had fallen asleep, curled into a ball on the ground. He could see the tear stains on her cheeks and the discomfort on her face. “You just left her on the floor?” Jimin asked.
“I tried to move her once but she woke up startled and freaked out again.” The doctor sounded defeated as he sat on the floor, resting against the wall across from her. “I shouldn’t have brought it up - I should have just transferred her to the facility and let them take care of her. I really messed up. I don’t know if she will trust me again.”
“Ah, Joon. Don’t do that to yourself.” The smaller alpha walked over to the doctor and squatted down in front of him. “Come on, let's stand up.” He offered his hands, which the doctor took and helped him to his feet. Once they were facing each other, Jimin wrapped his arms around his alpha and pressed his nose into the other’s neck, nuzzling into his skin and pressing gentle kisses on his collar bone.
Namjoon closed his eyes and returned the hug, allowing the other alpha to help melt his troubled thoughts away. “Thank you for coming Jimin.”
“Of course. Thank you for reaching out for help. You normally try to take it all on by yourself. I’m proud of you Joonie.” Jimin pulled back and looked over to the omega. “I’ll take care of her, and you can relax for a little bit in your office.”
The doctor was a little hesitant but after a few moments of staring at each other he nodded his head and disappeared into the other room.
Jimin approached the female on the floor, moving slowly so as to not startle her. He placed a hand on her shoulder and she shot up, pushing him away from her as she tried to scramble away. He noticed her rapid breathing as she curled into a ball, trying to melt into the wall behind her. “Hey, hey - it’s just me, Jimin.” He kept his voice soft as he spoke to her. It took about a minute or two but her breathing calmed down as he kept telling her that she was okay.
Finally, she tilted her head as if she was just starting to hear him. “Jimin?” She questioned.
“That’s right, it’s me. You’re okay now, Angel.” He offered a hand to her, which she took as she slowly curled her body.
“I’ve missed you.” She whispered, allowing him to pull her close.
“Me too, Angel.” He held both of her hands and looked down to her. She still kept her body language small, body curled slightly to protect herself. “Why are you so sad?”
She flinched. “I made Dr. Kim angry at me.” She whispered.
“Why do you say that?”
“He wants to send me away. I don’t want to be sent away. I’m sorry Jimin, I’m so sorry. I’ll be good. I promise I’ll-”
He felt her anxiety rising as her breathing quickened. “Sweetheart, he’s not mad at you.” He cupped her face, making her look up at him. He could see the sadness and confusion. “You’ve been doing so well here, he just thought that maybe you’d do even better at a different facility. You didn’t make him mad - he cares for you very much. He just wants what is best for you.”
“I don’t want to leave.” She whispered as her lip trembled.
“Okay, Angel. We can talk to him about it all.” He started to lead her back to her bed. “Do you want me to get him for you?”
“No!” She replied quickly before her eyes widened at her loudness. “Sorry,” She lowered her voice again. “Not yet please. Just stay with me? Please.”
***
He was kind. So very kind to me. We sat in silence as I played with his hands. They were warm, soft and safe. I thought back to when he touched my face, he was so gentle. Just like Dr. Kim. I frowned at the thought. I would glance up at Jimin often and every time I did - he was looking at me with a smile. I wanted to wrap myself in him and feel safe like this forever. Instead I slowly pulled away and walked over to the window, peeking outside.
The sun was settling, painting the sky in pretty purples, oranges and pinks. “I don’t know who I am. I don’t know the things I like or dislike. I just know when I try to remember it hurts, my brain is on fire and it doesn’t want me to put the pieces together.” I turned to look at Jimin, who was giving me his undivided attention. “I don’t think I’m bad - I don’t feel the urge to be. If I’m good, do you think Namjoon will let me stay?” I turned away from him before he could respond. “The sky is so pretty, and it looks so nice outside - but the creatures are out there, hiding and waiting for me.”
I could hear him shift behind me. “Angel, can you tell me about the creatures?”
I shook my head. “They just come as shadows. They came here one time and I haven’t seen them since. They must be scared of Dr. Kim.” I moved back to the bed and sat with my legs crossed while playing with my fingers. “You’ll have to go soon, won’t you?”
“I’ll stay as long as I can.”
“Is me being here bad?” I asked.
“No, darling.” Dr. Kim’s voice spoke from behind Jimin, it startled me slightly as I felt my body jump.
I looked up at him and frowned. “Then why can’t I stay here?”
“You can, until you’re ready. I shouldn’t have tried to do anything without talking to you first. I should have approached the talk differently and asked if you thought you were ready and I’m sorry for that.”
“It’s okay.” I replied.
“It’s not, I truly am sorry.”
I could feel his sadness and so I wanted to change the topic. “Did you eat dinner?” I questioned both alphas as they shook their heads. “Can we all eat together?”
I could see Dr. Kim lost in thought for a moment and I thought he was going to protest but to my surprise he nodded his head. "I think that would be good. I'd like to get you out of this part of the building and let you explore a little."
I was shocked. Leave the room? My eyes shifted to the double doors that everyone else always walked through. "I-I'm…" I felt a hand land on mine. I snapped my eyes down and followed the hand to see Jimin. He gave me a gentle smile and squeezed my hand.
"I think it will be good for you, Angel. Joonie and I will be there to keep you safe." His smile widened and his eyes turned into crescent moons.
My heart started to beat faster as I felt myself start to smile as well. His happiness was contagious. "Okay, I'll try."
Dr. Kim gave me a smile after I agreed. I thought back to how I reacted to him and I frowned which caused his smile to falter. "Dr. Kim, I'm really sorry for how I reacted."
"No, no, no, sweetheart - please don't apologize. Again it's my fault for not approaching things differently. Also, please feel free to call me Namjoon - I’ve been meaning to tell you that for a while now."
I nodded my head, wanting to test the name on my tongue but held off for now. I looked down to see him offering his hand to help lead me out of the room.. I reached out and grabbed his hand, happy with the warmth of his skin on my own." Okay, let's go eat."
***
Jimin watched her closely as she moved the food around her plate at first. She was wary and he didn’t understand why. Namjoon and himself grabbed the same food as her and she saw them eating. “Angel, what’s wrong?”
“What if there is something in it?” She questioned.
“Here,” Namjoon scooped a bit of her food from her plate and onto his fork. He had the bite in his mouth as she started to protest - worried that he just poisoned himself. “See, nothing bad.” He added after he swallowed down the food.
She stared at him with wide eyes, nervous and waiting for something to happen to him. After a moment, when nothing happened she sighed in relief and took a bite herself. Namjoon had let her put a few pieces of chicken on her plate tonight - ready to move her into some different food as she was getting her strength back to what he deemed would be normal. She ate slowly - savoring the flavors of her food.
“I was thinking that maybe we can go for a walk in the garden.” Namjoon spoke, noticing the omega pause. Due to her reaction he could tell she was excited but also nervous. “Jimin, would you like to join us and then after you and I can head home?”
“That sounds wonderful, would it be okay if I join you both?” He turned his attention to the omega.
“Oh, of course. Please. I would love it if you came with us.”
They finished their dinner shortly after that, the omega basically bouncing on her heels in happiness. It was dark by the time they got outside. She walked between them, holding each of their hands and they quietly moved through the gardens. She smiled as the scent of flowers invaded her senses. She had been smelling the scent of hospital for weeks with the break of something sweet or spicy when Namjoon or his pack members showed up.
They entered a small area that was boxed in by sticky bushes but decorated with the most beautiful assortment of flowers. She found herself slipping her hands away from both males as she approached the purple irises growing nearby. She was happy. Bliss soaked into her body and for once she hadn’t felt a single thread of fear. Her bones filled with warmth and delight. She moved her hands as if they should be holding open a book for herself. Her fingers itched to feel the paper but the words came to her mind quite easily even without the ink being in front of her.
“Sometimes since I've been in the garden I've looked up through the trees at the sky and I have had a strange feeling of being happy as if something was pushing and drawing in my chest and making me breathe fast. Magic is always pushing and drawing and making things out of nothing. Everything is made out of magic, leaves and trees, flowers and birds, badgers and foxes and squirrels and people. So it must be all around us. In this garden - in all the places.”
Namjoon smiled, he knew the quote well, it was in the book he let her borrow. “I see you’re enjoying The Secret Garden.”
She gave him a knowing smile and nodded her head before putting the hands together, as if closing her book, before turning her attention back to all of the flowers. She looked at the world around her as if it were the most beautiful thing she had ever seen.
Namjoon watches Jimin looking at her as if she was the most beautiful thing he has ever seen. “She’s strong. Whatever they do to her, whomever they are, they messed up her mind real bad. But she’s trying to find a way to let us know how she feels when she can’t explain it right. She keeps going and thriving to get better. She wakes up thinking that life is worth living, she finds beauty in it. I’m proud of her.”
Jimin nodded his head. “Me too, Joon.”
“She’s really not half bad.”
“Just a little mad. But that’s okay, right?”
Before Namjoon could respond she whipped around to look at them. “Can we watch the stars for a little bit?”
Namjoon and Jimin smiled at her. “Sure sweetheart.” Namjoon replied.
***
When Jimin and Namjoon returned home Yoongi met them at the couch. “ How is she?”
“Doing better. Thank you again Yoongi.” Namjoon walked over to him and hugged him tightly.
Yoongi hugged him just as tight before pulling back with a sigh. He grabbed a small bag that was on the coffee table and handed it to Namjoon.
“What’s this?” He asked as he started to open the bag.
“While you were both gone, the pack and I talked a lot, in great detail about many things.”
Namjoon pulled a soft short sleeved dress from the bag and he could see other clothes were inside.
“As much as I don’t completely like the idea, I’m willing to give this a shot. So tomorrow after you're done with your shift, bring the omega home.”
“Really?” Jimin asked in a breathy whisper.
Yoongi nodded his head. “Yes, we can go over more details about what is allowed and what behavior draws the line, but for now she can come to our home.”
“Thank you Yoongi. I know this must have been a hard decision for you. Who can I tell her the clothes are from?”
Yoongi looked down, looking a little nervous. “I picked them out and bought them. I tried to pick things that felt nice to start her with.”
Namjoon was shocked to say the least. “Thank you Yoongi.”
He nodded. “I just hope I don’t regret this. Jungkook, Jin and Taehyung all set up the guest room for her. Hoseok also went out and bought some more food for her to be able to eat. I’m off to bed, see you both in the nest.”

god its me again, with lookism spoilers below the cut
the way everyone gathered with their respective rescues like they're a stray cat or this month's grocery shop is just way too funny y'all but the way jinsung arrived with johan in tow and was immediately like "dude why does it looks like hyungseok was trying to rescue jaeyeol and not the other way around????? why is he knock knock knocking on heavens door???????? what the fuck did you do to him???????????" and hyungseok was like "i promise you there's a very good reason for this :D" smiley emoji and all and jinsung is just "don't????? change the subject????? you almost killed him?????????????" just left me cackling for five minutes straight thanks jinsung i knew i could trust you
jihan walking in carrying jibeom and hudson in a carrier after alexander was deadass carrying both jake and samuel is peak comedy. the devil works hard and alexander works harder. if you're an a/c unit i'm your fan. number one samuel stan can't compare can't compete we aint shit compared to alexander.
also it's funny for me to think that while hyungseok was beating the shit out of everyone, himself included, everyone else was like trying to think about how to transport the rescues. jihan being the bright patootie he is brought a bed, work smarter not harder. alexander decided to brute-force it. jinsung used the bro-style-carry. vasco is now carrying lil hyungseok like he's a cat he just rescued out of a fire. these guys all share one single braincell and its bouncing like that old dvd logo. i hope that reference lands somewhere.
now what's important here.
i think this chapter pretty much confirmed that nº1 is, in fact, made up of parts and scraps of other generation kings. i mean this is pretty obvious but i guess it'll be confirmed in a couple more episodes and we'll have to be like -pretends to be shocked-, i think it will be more impressive if nº1 is not, as a matter of fact, made up of parts and scraps from the 0 gen and is instead made up of several random people and then enhanced by drugs. why do i say this? well usually the first is not the best, specially with experiments, and i really dont think they would have wanted to waste precious parts in order to make something that wouldn't work, so it could be very possible that nº1 is actually the first working prototype of what the workers first affiliate was trying to replicate.
and what were they trying to replicate you ask?
why, hyungseok's fake body, of course.
my working theory is as follows:
i think it's very likely that nº1 is an experiment that is being made behind charles back, by the workers first affiliate, because back in the day he somehow found a way, alongside jinyoung, to recreate the perfect super-soldier, and went around playing the world's worst puzzle and stealing pieces from others with the help of james lee, and now won't rely that information to workers so that they can get mass produced. however it seems like eugene doesn't know about the two bodies, or at least hasn't found a way to confirm it (maybe, hear me out, maybe if ptj hadn't killed jiho off! the shrimp the felony commiter the only one crazy enough to come up with that possibility! then eugene would already know and this plot would be so much far ahead!), therefore it remains as a possibility that he heard about some kind of super-soldier project and tried to find out who was behind it because super-soldiers are very high on the list of what evil little dudes do on their free time, and that's how he stumbled upon jinyoung.
jinyoung however, probably wasn't the entire brain behind the operation. that's why nº1 looks... that way. it's very possible that the other half of the operation was... hear me out: hyungseok's dad, who was supposedly killed by jinyoung.
i dont really think that it was james lee, because he's supposed to be the figthing genius, the one-man-army, the one going to the hardware store to collect the parts and pieces of their little fucked up science fair experiment that might or might not violate the geneva convention (is the geneva convention a thing in the ptj-verse i dont think it is...). i also don't think it was charles, because while he's behind the interconnected webs, that's kinda not in the same ballpark as human experimentation, that's like management vs the kitchen, have you seen management inside the kitchen like actually working? no, that's my point. gapryong was too busy trying to become the president in order to also be trying to bring back prometheus 2: electric boogaloo. which leaves us jinyoung, a farmacologist, and hyungseok's dad, occupation unknown but with ties to jinyoung, and was apparently killed by him as well.
even if jinyoung didn't actively murder him, you know what mom park said? he died sick. who in lookism would have the very specific knowledge to prescribe drugs that would worsen someone's condition instead of making it better, and also be in a position of trust in order to make it work, thus killing hyungseok's dad while making it seem like he simply fell ill?
oh yeah its coming all together.
i also find it extremely funny that, in a way, hyungseok did manage to both unite and dismantle the four major crews. all of the groups are dismantled, inactive, on the run or were absorbed by workers, and now three of the original crew leaders alongside samuel as a representative form a temporary alliance. "not even the four major crews-" bitch sit down didn't you read the big deal arc and the hostel arc, the power of trauma compels you -gets blasted-
also johan being like "ew cant believe i gotta fight alongside you people" kid you've been working with Jake for months now what on earth are you talking about did you also get your memory temporarily erased by the drugs. will anyone else forget about some important part of the plot-- put your hand down jake.
what you thought i wouldnt mention the emotional whiplash it gave me to have hyungseok suddenly remembering the friend he just beat up. JAEYEOL IT'S ME YA BOY bitch you left him about to board the first train without stopovers to the left of christ's throne a foot on the gutter and the other on the grave, wipe out those damn tears and get his ass outta there stop crying it's not the time stop kissing in the foreground

Blood Red Love
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jinyoung x Yugyeom
Genre: Horror, Angst, Hannibal!AU
Rating: 18+
Warnings: Cannibalism, lots of death and gore, graphic description of murder and dead bodies
Word Count: 5,919
Summary: Yugyeom should have remembered that if something seems too good to be true, it probably was, and that something, or better, someone came in the shape of a tall, handsome, psychiatrist with an impeccable taste in fashion and a penchant for the unspeakable.
[a/n]: Written about half a century late for @flurrys-creativity's supernatural collab. This was really fun to write, I appreciate the incredible sense you have of coming up with collabs themed around the exact shows I'm obsessing over at any point of time.
Tumblr media
Yugyeom should have known better. He worked as a cop for years, he was working for the NIS for god’s sake. If there was someone who should have seen this coming, it should have been him. He had managed to miss every red flag till it came kicking his door down.
Tumblr media
Six months prior
The day was cold enough that Yugyeom had to pull out his thickest jacket. Dusting it off took a while, he had an impressive tolerance for the cold so it got little use. Donning it, he bid his dog a quick goodbye in the form of a pat on its head before heading off in his beat up Volvo.
His new job at the National Intelligence Service was proving to be nothing short of trouble. He hadn’t gotten a good night’s sleep in weeks, images of his investigation victims haunting him. His “perfect empathy” had always been there, but it became an asset when he got into law enforcement and made a bit of a name for himself.
That’s when he met Lim Jaebeom, director of the Behavioural Science Unit and the reason behind Yugyeom’s torment. He had heard of Yugyeom’s skill of being able to perfectly recreate the happenings at a crime scene and recruited him to consult for a few minor cases.
Yugyeom had wondered why he had been called for it, because the cases were easy to solve, there was no way Jaebeom hadn't figured them out on his own. Well, if there's one thing Yugyeom has learned about himself, it's that he's bad at seeing things coming his way.
They didn't cross paths again for years. Yugyeom had quit the police and joined the NIS training academy as a professor. Jaebeom had dropped by one of his lectures where he offered, more like forced upon, Yugyeom a job as a profiler for a high profile case he was working on.
And that was what led him to his predicament where he's spending one of the coldest days of the year at the NIS building instead of being at home with his dog. Jaebeom wanted him to stick around after they solved the first case and it wasn't like Yugyeom had a choice. What Jaebeom wanted, he got.
“So, what does it look like?” The Director asked, having handed Yugyeom a dossier full of photos of their latest case.
“An act of justice.” Yugyeom closed his eyes and tried to concentrate but it wasn't working. “I'll need to see the scene for more, the photos don’t give me a sense of the space.”
“Well we’re basically snowed in at this point so try harder. We don't know if or when he’s going to strike again so we need to figure this out quick,” Jaebeom snapped. Yugyeom could feel a headache radiating its way up the back of his skull. Realising that his presence was probably not helping, Jaebeom left him alone to brood in his office, promising to return soon.
Sighing, Yugyeom went back to examining the photos to better understand the geography of the house so that he could piece the series of events together. Closing his eyes, he tried to picture himself in the room, turning back time on the elements around him till he was envisioning the moments before the act took place.
He found himself across from Mrs Yoo, sitting on a plush sofa in her living room. Looking down, he saw a revolver in his right hand, a glass of wine in the other. The way Mrs Yoo’s eyes shone looking at him, it had to be motherly, a mix of care, kindness and fear. She was afraid of what he had become, knowing full well that it was her fault.
Yugyeom spun the wine in his hands gently before breathing its aroma in and taking a small sip, setting the glass carefully on the side table after.
“I despise the gentleness in Mrs Yoo’s eyes. They remind me of too much pain. I left because of those eyes, because of the pity that drips from them. I need those eyes to stop staring at me, I need everyone to stop looking at me.” Yugyeom examines the gun in his hand and raises it to be level with Mrs Yoo’s head.
“I stare straight into Mrs Yoo’s eyes as she trembles in fear in front of me. She’s begging for a forgiveness she knows I can’t afford. It takes a single shot to pierce right through her left eye and end both of our misery.”
Yugyeom sighs as he opens his eyes, rubbing his face with his hands as he tries to calm his breathing. He calls Jaebeom and the staff back into the room before asking, “Does Mrs Yoo have any kids on the record, someone old enough to own a firearm?”
Youngjae, a member of the forensic team, looked through the file in his hand before replying, “Yeah, a son. He’s 25, works at a tech firm on the other side of the country. We looked into him, he doesn’t seem to have been in the area on the day of the incident.”
“Look into him again just in case,” Jaebeom said before turning to Yugyeom, “Any other possible leads?”
“Maybe an illegitimate child? It’s someone who looked up to her as a mother figure but felt betrayed. Someone into their adulthood with years to have ruminated on their feelings on Mrs Yoo and turned it into a carefully plotted murder.”
“Look into the shooting ranges nearby, see if you can link any of their regulars near the area.” Jaebeom added, pointing at the image of Mrs Yoo’s body and how cleanly the bullet had hit her eye. “Too good of a shot for an amateur.”
Yugyeom stood there, eyes wide open, feeling rattled. Doing this was hard enough when he was at the crime scene but having to construct everything just out of photos drained him of everything. He slumped into the nearest chair and let his head roll back as he tried to calm himself down. Jaebeom gave him a pat on the shoulder before leaving him alone in the lab.
It had taken him a long time to learn the best way to come down from his “sessions” without having a panic attack or scaring those around him. Some space and a series of breathing exercises were what he finally settled on, concentrating on a spot on the ceiling to keep himself focused. He was just about done when a knock on the lab door pulled him out of his head.
“Mr Kim?” The man asked. He was dressed to the nines in a three piece suit, hair perfectly styled, eyes sharp as he watched Yugyeom.
Nodding, Yugyeom stood up. “And you would be?”
“Park Jinyoung. Jaebeom’s an old friend, he wanted my help with the case.”
“You don’t look like law enforcement.”
“Oh no, these hands weren’t meant for firearms.” Jinyoung said, holding them up. “People used to say they’d be good for paintbrushes but I drifted towards scalpels first, then towards people’s minds.”
“Psychiatrist for such a low priority case?”
Jinyoung pressed a hand thoughtfully to his chin, “Would you be here if it was low priority?”
“This is not the only case of its kind, is it?” Yugyeom asked, running his hands through his hair exasperatedly.
“Fifth one in a row. Each in a different state along the east coast, all women in their late forties or early fifties. No seeming connections between them.” Jinyoung walked across the room to a table piled high with files before pulling a thin one out. “This is everything that could be found in common. We don’t even know if it’s one killer or multiple different ones.”
“And why didn’t Jaebeom tell me any of this?” Yugyeom felt anger simmer inside him. Jaebeom had done this too many times for him to be surprised but it didn’t affect him any less.
“Too many theories floating around the office. He wanted a fresh perspective.” The table was now littered with tens of photos, each one different in setting but the same in execution. “What you saw was the first one that happened three months ago. That’s why he wanted you here, because there’s no crime scene to see.”
“When was the last one?”
“Last week. Each murder has had between two and three weeks between them. Jaebeom was hoping to catch the next one before it happened but he wasn’t getting anywhere.”
“What’s your theory, Doctor?”
Jinyoung rifled through the pictures to find one of each victim, photographed from a similar angle, that of the chair opposite to where the women sat. “Odds say it was all the same killer, but it feels too intimate for that. How many years does a young boy spend at home? How many of those would he have to build a bond that burned him when it got cut?”
“They all knew each other. They planned this together. They all had to be good enough shots to hit exactly the eye from a decent distance and also have the resources to clean up after themselves.”
“Maybe the reason why Jaebeom couldn’t understand it was because he kept looking outside for answers.”
Tumblr media
Watching cops getting arrested would never stop being unnerving to Yugyeom. After confirming the details with Jinyoung they both went to Jaebeom with their findings. It wasn’t an easy search but since they knew the killers would be inside the law enforcement system, they had enough connections.
“All foster children, brought into seemingly perfect households.” Yugyeom said as he read over the final report. He sat in Jinyoung’s office across from the man himself, a glass of scotch in his hand. “Abused for being troubled, sent to police academies to learn discipline.”
“It’s not incredibly difficult to find those of a similar disposition once inside. The cruelty of the academy breeds resentment and the resources to get away with one’s darkest desires.”
“Why left eyes though?”
Jinyoung stood up from his seat and walked over to one of the bookshelves that lined his walls. He pulled one out and handed it to Yugyeom. “Any luck reading Chinese?”
Yugyeom chuckled and flipped through the book. “My mom had one of these, she tried to get me to read it but I was never any good.”
“It’s a common text around these parts, stories, traditions and superstitions. It has a part on the twitching of eyes. Left eyes signify life in women.”
“A bit on the nose, don’t you think?”
“Maybe, but revenge blinds. It can never be measured, for it always has alterior motives.” Jinyoung took a long whiff of his wine before sipping it. “The best poet loves poetry for it’s own sake.”
“Well, glad this lot weren’t poets.” Yugyeom said.
Jinyoung laughed and raised his glass. “To amateurs, then.” Yugyeom grinned and raised his own glass. “Could I tempt you to dinner with me this weekend? Something celebratory for our accomplishment.”
“Will you tell me which wine I should bring so that I don’t pick the wrong one?”
“Find a good Chianti. Saturday, eight o’clock. I’ll have my assistant deliver you a formal invite.”
Tumblr media
Yugyeom felt woefully underdressed when Jinyoung opened the door, dressed in another perfectly tailored three piece suit with a tastefully patterned tie. He wished he had taken his blazer to wear over his full sleeve shirt rolled up to the elbows and slacks.
“I hope this will do,” He said, extending the bottle of wine.
Jinyoung barely glanced at the label before clicking his tongue. Yugyeom felt a shiver down his spine, a sudden fear of disappointing the doctor gripping him. Jinyoung’s eyebrows furrowed for a second before they softened into a teasing smile.
“This will do perfectly. Please, come in.” Jinyoung stepped away and Yugyeom was met with an extravagant living room, decorated with utmost care. The doctor seemed like a man of exquisite taste and wealth, unafraid of indulging in the luxuries of life.
Jinyoung led him to the dining room, where a long glass topped table took up much of the space. It was decorated with an elaborate flower and fruit arrangement in the centre, with two places set up, one at the head of the table, and one to its right.
“Please take a seat,” Jinyoung said before disappearing into the kitchen. He returned with a decanter of wine in one hand and two plates artfully balanced on the other, one on his palm and the other on his wrist. With a flourish, he filled both of their glasses before setting a plate in front of Yugyeom and one in his own place before sitting down. “Stuffed Roast Heart with Devilled Kidneys and Garlic Liver Paté.”
Yugyeom stared at the food in wonder, not having seen such a beautifully plated dish before. “What is it that you can’t do, Doctor?”
“You flatter me too much, I’m merely a man of a few interests.”
“This is the most delicious thing I’ve ever eaten, Doctor. I don’t think this comes just from being a hobbyist.”
Jinyoung smiled and sipped his wine before answering, “I started cooking for my sister young, then it became a passion, if you will.”
“Well I do hope we work together more often in the future if it means you’ll call me over for dinner every time.”
“It would be an absolute pleasure,” Jinyoung said before holding his glass up for a toast. “To Lim Jaebom, an eternal friend and pain.”
“To Jaebeom indeed.”
Tumblr media
The joy of the night together was quickly sobered in the morning when Yugyeom woke up to Jaebeom calling him early in the morning.
“Dr Park will be picking you up soon, we need you two here stat.”
He barely had the time to get himself out of bed and dressed before Jinyoung showed up, looking as classy as ever, dressed slightly down in a shirt with no tie and a sport coat. “Did you eat anything?” Jinyoung asked as they got into the car.
“Nope, Jaebeom called me ten minutes ago,” said Yugyeom. “Also why’re you here? I could have gone myself.”
“I offered since your house was on the way.” Jinyoung paused for a second, glancing at Yugyeom before continuing, “And Jaebeom thought it’d be best if I was with you at the scene.”
Lim Jaebeom was hard headed, short tempered, rude, but he was also almost always right. Yugyeom was glad he had Jinyoung with him when he arrived at the scene. There was a small group of officers standing outside the local art museum looking rather green and it made sense as they stepped in.
The hall was large, lined with paintings along the walls. The centre of it featured only two pieces, well three now. Between the two displays, like a sculpture, stood a body. It was stripped naked, posed like a ballet dancer, one leg slightly raised, arms up in the air, held up by red ropes that hung from the ceiling. The body was so carefully positioned that it only rested on the ground by the toes of one foot.
Most notably, though, what captured the eye first was the fact that the corpse’s chest was cut open, split down the middle and flayed open, the ribs slightly pried apart to show a hole in the middle, filled with a small bouquet of flowers where the heart should have been.
“Okay after last night’s dinner this is probably not the best thing to happen,” Yugyeom mumbled, feeling light headed. “Sure you’re not serving up human hearts are you, Doctor?”
“Only the finest beef, Mr Kim. I can put you through to my butcher if you’d wish to confirm.” They both laughed a little to ease the tension but the glares from those around quieted them quickly.
Jaebeom stormed in immediately after, his voice loud and frustrated. “Get to work, the two of you. I need this sorted out and fast.”
“Any other similar cases anytime recently that you’d like to tell me about?” Yugyeom asked, trying his best to not sound accusatory.
“With parts of the body missing? Yes. With this level of… what do I even call it? Craftsmanship? Not so much.”
Jinyoung interjected before things had the chance to go awry. “Noted, Jaebeom. Lets just work with the assumption that this is a one off thing first, then we’ll try connecting the dots.”
Jaebeom nodded before leaving the two to examine the body. Youngjae stayed with them to brief them about the latest developments. “Jeong Jisub, 42. Luxury car salesman. Unmarried and orphaned. Wasn’t very well known even to his own neighbours and not well liked by those who did recognise him.”
“Unlikable doesn’t mean having enemies,” Yugyeom mumbled. “This doesn’t feel personal.”
“What, flowers are impersonal now?”
“What Mr Kim is trying to say, Mr Choi,” Jinyoung answered, addressing Youngjae, “Is that while the gesture of the flowers and the body may be symbolic and personal, the murder itself. or at least the choice of victim doesn’t feel so.”
Yugyeom nodded, adding, “There was a lot of care put into the act of rigging up the body, but it was the same to the killer as making a sculpture. The marble itself is immaterial to obtaining the final outcome.” He walked around the body, examining every minor detail. “Check the back, the kidneys should also be missing. This isn’t just art, it’s a message.” He turned to Jinyoung, “Doctor, you’re sure this wasn’t you, right?”
Jinyoung put up his hands, wrists pressed together. “You’ve caught me officer, take me away.” His tone was light and teasing, matching Yugyeom’s.
“Why kidneys?” Youngjae asked as he looked at the back of the body and noticed the small sutures present there that corresponded with where the organs would be present. The killer had carefully cut open the back to extract them and stitched it back up almost imperceptibly.
“Two organs of humanity, two organs of love,” Jinyoung said after a minute of pondering. “The Egyptians left the heart and kidneys inside when mummifying their corpses and many traditions considered the kidneys the locus of affection.”
“The flowers, what do they signify?” Yugyeom asked Youngjae.
The forensic analyst looked down at his file before answering, “All imply something along the lines of romantic interest, infatuation, crushes.”
“Our killer seems to have fallen in love.”
Tumblr media
“Why ballet? Why the flowers of infatuation but organs of love?” Yugyeom wondered out loud as he once again sat at Jinyoung’s side at his dining table. Jinyoung had offered to cook lunch since they’d wrapped up early and Jaebeom wouldn’t be available to talk to till the next day.
“Some things, emotions, people are both delicate and sturdy at once. They’re fragile, easily disturbed, hurt, broken, but if nurtured correctly, they blossom powerfully, often dangerously.” Yugyeom felt Jinyoung staring into his soul as he spoke those words.
“Wait a minute—” He started, getting up from his seat abruptly. “You’re not here for Jaebeom or the cases are you?”
“Mr Kim, please, we can talk this out cordially—”
“No, you’re not getting into my head anymore. We’re done.”
“Yugyeom, Jaebeom asked me to do it out of concern for your well being. He told me about the dark places you retreat to after the cases. How the darkness from the killers’ minds seeps into your own and haunts you. How you lose yourself in the process.” Jinyoung’s eyes looked pleading as he spoke, “I want to help you.”
Yugyeom chuckled bitterly, “Help me or Jaebeom?”
“You, Yugyeom. All Jaebeom needs is a report saying that you’re fit enough for duty. I have that prepared here,” Jinyoung left the dining room for a moment before returning with a file. “You have the choice now. Tell me to stop and I’ll tell Jaebeom that my work is done.”
“Tuesdays.” Yugyeom mumbled into his drink.
“Pardon me?”
Grabbing his jacket, Yugeom moved to leave the room but turned just as he was about to step out, “Sessions on Tuesdays, I get off work early.”
Tumblr media
It was difficult for Yugyeom to look Jinyoung or Jaebeom in the eye without getting angry knowing what they were doing to him, but the case forced them into the same room, the body on a table in front of them, pictures of the crime scene scattered on the one on the side.
“Yugyeom, what did you see yesterday?” Jaebeom asked.
Closing his eyes, Yugyeom envisioned himself back in the art gallery, the body that was once hung in front of him now lying on the floor next to him, not yet rigged up.
“I never saw Mr Jeong as a person. His life was worth less than an insect crushed under my foot. His death was quick and painless. I would have dragged it longer if I’d so desired, but I had other priorities. This display was everything. I needed it to be perfect.
“I spent hours making sure the pose was correct, rigging ropes carefully to hold the body in place. I placed the flowers in last, the finishing touch to a labour of love. A proposal, a request for courtship, proof of the power and devotion I held in my hands.”
Moments of silence ticked by as Yugyeom collected his thoughts. “It’s a letter, Jaebeom. The killer wanted someone in particular to see this, someone who’d understand what it meant. He wanted them to know what he was capable of.”
“Who in the world would appreciate a dead body with missing organs as a letter? Another killer? Don’t tell me we have two killers to deal with.”
“You said there were other cases with organs missing, right?” Jinyoung asked. Jaebeom nodded and handed him a case file.
“Twelve deaths over two years. All of them displayed one way or the other, clearly meant to be found. They were all far more detached than this one, though, more a show of ruthlessness than art.” Jaebeom thought for a moment before adding, “Don’t tell me our new killer is in love with our old one, that might just make me quit. I’ve worked tirelessly to catch the ‘Butcher’ as we call him, I don’t have time for another one.”
“I don’t think these are two killers, Jaebeom,” Jinyoung said, and Yugyeom nodded in assent. “I think the Butcher met someone who softened him.”
“All of these cases show someone with expertise with bodies, a doctor, nurse or mortician of some kind. One with a build large enough to carry them around and access to medical supplies and some sort of space to do the dissection,” Yugyeom noted, rifling through the photos.
“What does he do with the organs? And it's not just organs, some of them have flesh missing. Sometimes just sections, other times an entire limb,” asked Jaebeom.
Everyone turned to Jinyoung as the resident doctor, “Surgical trophies, maybe? He could be keeping them as a personal collection, a piece of every person he’s killed.” Turning to Youngjae who was working on the body he asked, “Anything in common between all the victims?”
“Nothing we could figure out. The gender division is pretty even, ages stick between eighteen and fifty. Some had families, others no one. They feel extremely random, half the victims originally from different parts of the country but all of them turned up in the general area of this city and two over.”
“I need time to think, Jaebeom. Start your search with medical professionals in the area, I’ll give you more details as soon as I can.”
Tumblr media
Despite Yugyeom’s wishes, he ended up in Jinyoung’s office that evening. The scotch in his hand was the only thing keeping him sane, especially as he sat facing the doctor.
“I want this to be a place where you can be honest, Yugyeom. I am contractually obliged to not utter a word outside these walls. You can tell me whatever’s on your mind. I’m not here to judge, but listen.”
“You’ve lied to me before, why should I trust you?”
“Lies of omission are not the same, are they? But I’m not here to defend that. I’m sorry, I wasn’t able to figure out a better way for you to open up to me, but it was still wrong of me to. Would you be open to starting fresh?”
Yugyeom thought for a second before nodding. He pushed himself off his chair and started strolling around the office. The space was large, with a tall ceiling and a staircase leading up to a mezzanine lined with bookshelves end to end. Ladders rested against the bookcases on both floors, allowing access to the books stored up high.
Stopping by the nearest ladder, Yugyeom turned his back to it, resting a leg on the lowest step and leaning back against it. “This killer,” he started, “he makes me feel so many emotions.”
Jinyoung sat silently, his eyes expectant, waiting for Yugyeom to open up to him.
“I’m equal parts horrified and fascinated by him.” Yugyeom sighed and took a large swig of his drink. “I don’t know why I’m saying this but for a moment it felt like that letter was for me.”
Crossing one leg on top of the other, Jinyoung raised an eyebrow, “And why did it feel like that?”
“Jaebeom said that the person the Butcher is in love with, has to be a killer or someone who understands his work. Looking at the body, I could feel the emotions the Butcher put into it, I could understand the effort he went into to put it up there. It just felt like it was made for me, then. Like he knew I’d see it, that I’d understand him because that’s my job. To put myself into the heads of those who kill and find them inside there. Not see them as cold blooded killers but as people with motivations, desires, wants, needs. Maybe he hoped I’d see beyond the body, the murder, and see him in his art.”
Jinyoung stood up and joined Yugyeom near the ladder, standing close enough that Yugyeom got a strong whiff of the doctor’s perfume, a classy, masculine scent, much like the man himself. “What did you see of him?”
The image of the killer in Yugyeom’s head was blurry at best, but seeing the body, it felt like Yugyeom knew him. “A strong, skilled man. A bit traditional, trying to prove himself as the provider and caretaker but not one to be held down by norms. He kills not for lowly reasons of revenge but because he merely can. He sees his work as art, even when its cold and lifeless, he still wants it to be a spectacle.” Yugyeom stopped for a moment, arranging his thoughts. “He’s playing god.”
Those words hung between the two of them as they took them in. “What does that mean, Yugyeom? What does it mean to the killer?”
“He sees himself as above man. He wasn’t decorating the body, he was elevating it. He wants the person he likes to see what he’s capable of, how he can make something as repulsive as a dead body to art that moves.”
“Then why the trophies? Wouldn't that be uplifting the remnants of the murders a bit too much?” Jinyoung asked, pushing Yugyeom to think harder. “What could he be doing with the organs that would put himself above them?”
“I don’t know,” Yugyeom admitted. “That’s the one thing that doesn’t make sense. But I think they have something to do with the confession too.”
“Do you think that person will like it? Will they accept the courtship?”
“I do.”
Tumblr media
Yugyeom tried his best to explain everything they’ve figured out to Jaebeom without the detail of how he saw a little too much in the Butcher’s work. It didn’t help narrow their search much but helped them build a more detailed profile of the killer. This left Yugyeom and Jinyoung free till more evidence came up while Jaebeom’s team worked on finding suspects.
“I’m heading back to the training centre, I’ve missed too many lectures,” Yugyeom said as they wrapped up their meeting.
“I’ll see you on Tuesday then,” Jinyoung said with a soft smile. They walked out of the building together and Jinyoung helped Yugyeom get into his car before waving him off.
For the first time in two weeks Yugyeom felt himself breathe. He was, even if temporarily, free of the cases and everything related to them. Driving had always been a comforting activity for Yugyeom, giving him the space and time to think for himself. He had two hours before his lecture so he decided to just use the time driving around town and maybe grab something to eat.
As he drove, he let his thoughts wander, but it kept coming back to case. There had to be something that he was missing. The question the doctor asked still bugged him. What was the Butcher doing with the organs and flesh? Surgical trophies make sense but doesn’t explain all the cases. What would he do with chunks of meat from the back, on either side of the spine?
That’s when it hit him. Yugyeom slammed the brakes on his car and pressed his head into the steering wheel. Angry horns from behind got him to snap out for a second and he pulled the car up by the side of the road and let the world stop around him.
Meat. Of course he saw the victims as less than himself. He saw them as pigs, animals meant to be grown just enough to be killed and taken apart for personal enjoyment. Yugyeom felt himself getting sick as he thought of the Butcher, of himself in the killer’s mind, eating his spoils.
He needed Jinyoung to know when he’d realised. He couldn’t deal with the thoughts alone and so he turned the car back around and drove to the doctor’s house.
Tumblr media
Ringing the bell didn’t reward him with an answer. The door didn’t open regardless of how long he waited. That meant that either the doctor was still at his office or Yugyeom would have to wait a while for him to return from wherever he was. Just as he was about to turn away to try the office, he felt the impulse to try turning the knob on the door and he saw the door open under his fingers.
A flash of panic swept through him as he wondered if the doctor was in trouble. He didn’t seem the type to just leave his front door open. Reaching to his side, Yugyeom pulled out the gun that he’d been allowed to keep now that he was back in service. He tiptoed through the ground floor and found nothing. The house was seemingly empty.
He was about to climb the stairs to the first floor when he heard a sound. Footsteps from somewhere below him. Searching around the house, he tried to find where the way to the basement could be, till he found a door in the kitchen that looked like any other cabinet door. It led him down a set of steps to a metal room, designed much like the forensic lab at the NIS.
Turning the corner into the room, Yugyeom held his gun up but felt his grip loosening at the sight in front of him.
On a metal table lay Lim Jaebeom, very clearly dead. “Took you long enough,” A familiar voice called from behind him, forcing Yugyeom further into the room to turn to face it.
He should have known it was Jinyoung all along. It was way too obvious and that’s exactly why he missed it. “Why?” was the only thing Yugyeom could think of asking.
“You already know, Yugyeom. You explained it all to me yourself yesterday.” Jinyoung walked closer to Yugyeom despite the gun pointed squarely at his chest.
“And you thought I’d like all of this? That I’d say yes?” Yugyeom’s hands were shaking as he tried to hold his ground.
Jinyoung reached out to wrap his hand around the barrel of the gun and push Yugyeom’s arms down and out of the way. He used his other hand to grip the side of Yugyeom’s face. “I think you already have,” he whispered.
“No! I’m not a monster like you!” Yugyeom shouted as he pulled himself free of Jinyoung’s grip.
“Am I a monster? You’ve seen the inside of my head. You’ve seen what’s there. Can you look at all of that and still call me a monster?”
“Why kill Jaebeom though, I thought he was your friend!”
Jinyoung glanced at the body with a look of inconvenience, not regret. “An unfortunate casualty. I needed insurance, Yugyeom. I’m a simple man, if I can’t have what I want, I’ll burn it all down.” He looked at Yugyeom thoughtfully before continuing, “You know what I’m capable of. Walk out of here and you get framed for the murder of not only Lim Jaebeom but of all the Butcher’s victims. A perfect liar, who had access to everything he needed to carry his killings out, with medic training from his days with the police. No one would believe your innocence, I’ve made sure of that.”
Or you can stay with me. We put Jaebeom’s body up together, a proof of our courtship and then we run away. I have enough money for us to settle down anywhere in the world and never be bothered again.” He once again held Yugyeom’s face, who was shaken to his bones as he processed everything Jinyoung was saying. “You see me for who I am, not for who you want me to be. Stay, please.”
Yugyeom felt his knees weakening as a flood of emotions washed over him. He realised that some part of him had known since he saw the Butcher’s victim for the first time. He knew it was Jinyoung, that it was meant for him, and that he’d accepted the courtship.
“You knew that I wouldn’t be able to say no to you, insurance or not,” Yugyeom said.
“I had to cut off the ropes that held you here. Jaebeom would have tracked you down wherever you were if I’d left him alive.” Jinyoung held Yugyeom as he broke down and fell to his knees, finally giving himself entirely to Jinyoung.
“I’ll stay, I’ll see you for who you are,” Yugyeom whispered, “If you promise to hold dear the darkness in me too.”
“I promise.”

The Hardship Era When JYP Ent Almost Went Bankrupt
Original source: The Qoo
Kor-Eng: @Egle0702
Note: The post is written from the Korean perspective of a JYPN fan. The OP’s language is kept as authentic as possible.
------------------------------------
Back then, around 2010
Tumblr media
Rain-JYP, Win the Appeal in the “World Tour” Lawsuit
2010-09-09
Singer Rain and Rain's former agency, JYP Entertainment, won a lawsuit claiming compensation for damages related to a performance in North America.
On the 9th, the Seoul High Court judged, "Wellmade StarM is the one responsible for the cancellation of the concert in North America," and "JYP Entertainment and Rain do not have to return the 10 billion won paid in advance."
Rain’s World Tour lawsuit (won after 4 years of trial)...
Tumblr media
The American obsession…
And because of many other things JYP Ent had been having a rough time.
For reference, their sales (at the time were:
2009 sales KRW 10.1 billion (down 7% compared to the previous year) Net profit -4.6 billion
2010 sales 21.6 billion net profit 900 million
2011 sales 9.9 billion net profit -2.1 billion
2012 sales 15 billion net profit -9.8 billion
Fuck this shit lol
Tumblr media
At that time, Loen invested in JYP, and got JYP’s shares in return.
With the 25.4% of the company’s stock, it immediately became the 2nd largest shareholder.
Back then (around 2013), Loen was owned by SK, but when the laws got revised, Loen was sold to a Hong Kong-based private equity fund.
(Loen was a music distribution company that monopolised the online music distribution market and paid very little to entertainment companies for it, so entertainment companies united and moved their online music rights distribution to KMP Holdings.
Although Loen was the 2nd biggest shareholder in JYP Ent, JYP Ent. also participated into the movement. It was okay when Loen was under SK, because Park Jinyoung is acquainted with the SK Group family, but when it was sold to the Hong Kong-based private equity fund, the confrontation intensified.)
→ Tbh, this is some complicated stuff, so if you’re having a hard time grasping it, might as well skip the part above.
Either way, at the time Loen, which wanted to grow as an entertainment company, opposed JYP Ent’s listing on the stock market and proposed a take over.
Tumblr media
Loen: take over, let’s go
Tumblr media
JYP Ent: don’t wanna

After going through it several times, JYP Ent finally succeeded in listing through backdoor listing.

Oh yeah, you’re gonna croak tomorrow~
Tumblr media
[Market Insight] Loen sells all JYP Entertainment shares
2014.01.16
They sold all the stocks in their possessions and made a run for it.
However, on the exact same day…
Tumblr media
GOT7 debuted.
Just debuted, but the company is on the verge of bankruptcy and they were pretty much poised to end up sitting outside in a street (fuck this shit).
Tumblr media
GOT7, to hold a showcase in Japan in collaboration with Sony Music
2014.03.10
At the time when GOT7 (as newcomers) were supposed to get as much push from the company as possible, the company was literally in ruins, and GOT7 got shipped off to Japan within 3 months after their debut. Their first concert was also held in Japan.
youtube
Suzy was shooting commercials like crazy. (The vid above is 6 min long, but it’s only the commercials from the first half of the year, you can pretty much tell she filmed every single CF suggestion they received.)
Tumblr media
As for 2PM… they just didn’t come back from Japan at all. They were on tour in Japan for 2 years straight (no exaggeration here)
In 2014-2015, they released 2 albums in Korea, while in Japan they had 5 releases during the same period of time.
If it hadn’t been for 2PM, JYP Ent would’ve just evaporated back then. 2PM was the holding pillar that prevented JYP Ent from collapsing.
Tumblr media
Park Jinyoung was also trying to do something, so he sold the JYP Ent building that belonged personally to him.
And with that he bought the JYP Ent stocks (currently, Park Jinyoung is the largest shareholder).
Tumblr media
FNC Entertainment’s Han Sungho, comparing with the Big 3 entertainment companies… “We’re better off than JYP Ent.”
2015-02-05
That was exactly when FNC was indulging in all that media play going “JYP Ent, get out of my way, I’m in the big 3 now.”
Tumblr media
JYP Ent official position: “YG takeover claims are false, looking into the potential to take legal action”
In the midst of all this, Yang Hyunsuk sprinkled this kind of crap trying to raise his stock prices. It’s like, the house was already on fire, and he just fried some popcorn next to it, absolutely infuriating.
Either way, spring comes to those who wait.

In 2015, GOT7 received a good response abroad with Just Right.
Originally, although JYP Ent is a big company, it wasn’t that big on the overseas market.
The company was mostly focused on popularity among the general public, but as they grew step by step with GOT7, Twice and Stray Kids, they reached overseas, too.
What’s more, they also began paying more attention to group fandoms starting with Twice.
These days, they’re quite decent with self-created content, and they squeeze out the fandom money through goods, too… They’ve become a fandom-oriented company.
Tumblr media
When Twice hit the Korean jackpot with their legendary Ooh-Aah-Cheer-Up-TT line, and then did insanely well in Japan, the hardships era came to an end.
2015 JYP Ent stock price 3000 won
2023 JYP Ent stock price 73,000 won
Even the man himself must feel like it’s worth living these days. He’s dancing to Hype Boy.

Is My House: the legendary male-idol case of climbing back the charts.
Originally back then, they were supposed to have promos for a month. After a relatively long promo, they were planning to go back to Japan, but an MV director called Han Samin flaked on them with the intention to film a Big Bang MV.
Tumblr media
Naive Production went “oh poor you” and shot the MV in a hurry.
Eventually, My House had just one week of promos, but it climbed back the charts way later, so there’s a happy ending in that.
That was when the JYP Ent ❤ Naive relationship started.
Right now the fandom attitude [to Naive] is not good, and they’ve also had quite a few mishaps over time, so they don’t have such an all encompassing reach as before but they’re still filming MVs on the Japanese side (mostly for NiziU).
Now I’m really done talking about the times when the world was chewing on JYP Ent.
You might say, isn’t this an omniscient JYP Ent stan perspective?
Well, I have nothing to say for myself because that’s true. At the end of the day, who else would remember all this if not a JYP Ent stan T.T

When we first meet Oh Mal-soon (Na Moon-hee), we see a cantankerous 70something who isn't pleasant to be around. She's horribly dismissive of her daughter-in-law and makes fun of her friends — including her long-suffering former servant, Mr. Park (Park In-hwan).
She saves her smiles and kindest words for her only child Hyun-chul (Sung Dong-il) — a well-respected professor at a top university — and she dotes on her grandson, Ji-ha (former B1A4 K-pop star Jinyoung), who is intent on becoming a musician, despite his parents' protests.
Mal-soon has a frenemy — a slightly younger woman at the senior center who flirts with Mr. Park and brags about her well-off son in America (a doctor) who has sent her a plane ticket to come visit him. When this kinda-sorta friend mistakenly orders a "United States coffee" instead of an Americana, Mal-soon takes great joy in pointing out the embarrassed woman's error.

Chap 430 thoughts (spoilers ahead)
Ok so I was going to upload this the day it was released but shit happened
First of all, FUCK workers
Tumblr media
James, you two faced bitch, fuck you. Out of all the options this bitch had, he choose the Workers??
Also tf?
Tumblr media
This man is on no-one else’s side but his own. I do not trust him. Even in the earlier chapters he never properly communicated with Daniel about anything. Like why should he unite the 4 crews? Why does he want to bring Charles down so bad, wasn’t he “raised” as one of the geniuses by him? How does he know Sofia? How does he know about Vivi’s cookies? Another reason why I don’t trust his ass.
We know for sure that James isn’t a good guy, he’s only for himself, his motive for bringing down Charles has to be personal because if it was for the good of people he wouldn’t have made a deal with Yujin.
Tumblr media
How did he find out about the second bodies? How does he know that Jinyoung and Charles found out about it together? I have a feeling that Jakes late father and his half older brother might be connected with this. I’ve noticed that everything in this WEBTOON is connected. One thing we know for sure is that Charles didn’t create the second body project. I also feel like Crystal was the first one, maybe that’s why she has someone like gun guarding and training her.
Still think gun is  somehow related to this because of his eyes.
Tumblr media
They really posted this photo with the caption “young teenagers…”.
Tumblr media
Saw a lot of posts saying Blondie here was concerned for Samuel but I personally think that’s bullshit. I think it’s because he’s worried about what will happen to him and mitsuki if they were to leave.
Tumblr media
I would LOVE to see her in action. If she’s working for them I’m sure she would know how to fight. Unless ptj decides to make her some kind of stepping stone like he did with that woman in Vivi’s nightclub.
Tumblr media
Nah he can’t lose his pretty ass hair man. Although I don’t think it will happen to either of them. The reason Daniel was tortured was because he refused to tell the truth, these two however are there for different reasons. Plus remember when Tom lee said they would hide Johan away for a while. Maybe he’s been put in a coma for a while until things clear up.
Tumblr media
Who let grandpa out of the retirement home?🤨
Tumblr media
Seriously though, how the did he grow so much in a month? Gun could easily quit the illegal shady business and become a fitness trainer.
Tumblr media
This could literally anyone atp. A lot of people think it’s Hudson because of the silhouette, I think so too since he does have a reason to get back at the workers and it’s been hinted that once he fails he comes back stronger. Or it could be his teacher but I’m not too sure on that just because he has no motive to go against the workers.
I also think it could be Vinjin because he was previously involved. And let’s not forget Magami, Ryuhi, and Xiaolong. Ryuhi because like I stated earlier, is worried about neko and himself. And the other two weren’t even at the meeting table, maybe they realized Yujin wouldn’t hesitate to get rid of them should they fail so they’re ensuring their safety? Or plot twist, it’s either Gun, James, or (dramatic music) Olly back from the dead. I’m only saying this because of their reaction, personally I think Gun and James are too busy for that and there have been theories that Olly might be alive so. Or it could just be someone from big deal or parody hostel.

— NOW PLAYING: NEXT GEN EPISODE 3
the show opens with a recap of the previous episode with RHEE JIAN smiling to the camera as she announces today’s mission: “we want to test how you work together in a team,” she says as the camera pans over the group of contestants hanging onto her every word. “our judges have split you into six groups based on what they feel your strongest skill is with two teams of the same skill going head to head.” one by one, each team is introduced to the audience. dance team a, the captions read, as images of hwang bada, moon jinyoung, and lee noel line up side by side, properly labeled. the screen changes after a few seconds to introduce their rivals, dance team b; yeom sarang, park steven, moon saea, and matthew luong’s images lined up side by side like the team before them. this repeats for the singing team and rapping team until all groups have been refreshed in the public’s mind.
“this evaluation will be our first elimination round,” the background music changes suddenly as jian announces the more serious part of the episode. “the winning team of each battle will be safe from elimination while the losing team will risk sending some of their members home,” the camera zooms in on the faces of some of the contestants who haven’t been fairing as well in the competition so far; noel, stevie, and wonjae in particular are singled out for being in the lowest ranks as of last episode.
“good luck to all of our contestants! remember, we’re looking at you to be the next generation of kpop. show us that you can shine!” jian’s smile lights up the screen one more time before the NEXT GEN logo and title card takes over, a triumphant arrangement of my turn growing louder in volume as if in celebration of the first battle and elimination round of the competition.
the first teams to perform are the vocal units. quick clips are shown of each team preparing for their turn on stage; the camera zooms in on haein’s hand gripping her microphone tight, an exaggerated soundbite of her sighing heard, renyi’s anxious scowl as he waits backstage, seojun fiddling with his in-ear mic with equally sweaty, nervous hands, and joomi taking a long breath as he and his team approach the stage.
earlier that week… the scene changes abruptly to the practice rooms and the contestants, now in regular training gear and none of the stage outfits briefly shown before.
SINGING TEAM A is the first focus and scenes of the team learning their song, their lines, and practicing together play out over the screen. the quartet seem to get along well and the atmosphere generally seems good among the teammates. it’s clear that CHO HANEUL has taken on a leadership role among the team.
“how does your mind come up with the harmonies?” SATO KOU asks during rehearsal together as they review the arrangement of the song. “i honestly couldn’t even think of that. i could learn so much from you.” haneul, ever so humble, simply laughs off the compliment.
kou isn’t the only one who acknowledges haneul’s skill and expertise. LEE SEOJUN is shown in the interview room, a fond smile on his face as he talks about his friend. “i don’t think i would have gotten better without him,” he says, “thank you, hannie,”
haneul’s own interview is shown a moment later, the man in question shooting a finger heart at the camera. “i’m really happy with how everything turned out with this team,” his voice is heard over scenes of the contestants working together, rehearsing, and practicing their song until it is perfection.
the preparations aren’t entirely without hiccups, though. JUNG JOOMI is stopped by haneul with a proposition: “i think you should take my high note,” haneul says. joomi doesn’t seem excited at first; if anything, he looks uncomfortable and unsure of the change. “i’ve been thinking about it and i think your vocal color will be better for the song than mine,” haneul continues to explain.
a scene plays of all four contestants in the practice room, each one trying the high note one by one. of course, the editors make sure to put joomi and haneul’s attempts back to back. they both hit it, joomi perhaps a little surprised by his own attempt and his voice setting a slightly different tone compared to haneul’s. it’s true; joomi sounds good. with some convincing from haneul, joomi eventually agrees to do it.
“i was really afraid of weighing them down,” joomi speaks to the cameras in the interview room, “but they kinda didn’t let me do that. they helped me a lot.”
will joomi be able to handle the high note? the captions build some suspense as the scene shifts to performance day. three judges sit behind an elevated desk in front of the stage, hands clasped in front of them as they eagerly anticipate the first performance of the day. the shot of joomi’s long breath is seen again, then a shot of kou doing the same as they find their places on stage. only haneul doesn’t look nervous, at least in comparison to the rest of his team.
it’s clear that the experience and ability among singing team a paid off. their performance goes off without a hitch, each member successfully hitting their high notes, holding their own in the harmonies, and even looking like they enjoy the stage as they sing for the judges before them. perhaps it’s a bit mesmerizing to watch four young men who so clearly were born to perform own the stage.
there’s quiet as the judges collect their thoughts and prepare to give their evaluations on the performance.
YOON JIHUN is the first to speak, picking up his microphone and starting with congratulations, “this was a fantastic performance,” he says. the man who has kept compliments rather sparse throughout this competition now openly praises the group before him. “this is exactly what we were hoping to see through these teamwork evaluations. it’s clear that you’re all capable singers but no one contestant outshown another, nor did anyone lag behind. you all complimented and balanced each other very well and for that, i applaud you.”
“joomi,” SEO RAN picks up her microphone next, smiling to the boys, “it’s only been a short time but you continue to improve with every performance. it’s been amazing to see you come into your own over these weeks and we’re excited to see how you continue to develop. kou, on the other hand,” she hesitates, choosing her words carefully. “as jihun said, everyone did well with this performance. it’s not that you did bad, kou. but in comparison to the rest of your team, your progress seems a bit… stale. i was hoping to see a new side of you this round or to be surprised somehow and i didn’t get that.”
“haneul, seojun, i want to be sure to congratulate both of you on your performance as well,” YUNA takes over, smiling kindly to the other boys. “i know from personal experience that sometimes working with your best friend can create… conflict that you never imagined would happen. i’m glad to see that not only are you two able to work together well professionally, but your personal relationship doesn’t seem to have suffered at all for it. keep ahold of that; it’s rare to find lifelong friends.”
“as soon as i got on the stage, i gave it my all,” seojun says in the interview room, “i took everything i learned within this short amount of time and made sure that i brought it out there.”
“they were good,” ran says again to her fellow judges, who nod their agreement. it’s clear that singing team b has a hard act to follow.
the scene changes to SINGING TEAM B’s practice room, the trio of singers working together to learn the song and perfect the harmonies and high notes that come with it. OH HAEIN becomes a particular target of the camera as she seems to struggle with the song. she’s working with ZHOU RENYI who can’t hide his expression when poor haein’s voice warbles in ways it probably shouldn’t for this song. “you’re flat,” he tells her in english, though subtitles are available for anyone who may not understand.
haein’s clearly flustered by this, hiding her face in her lyric sheet as she can’t help but laugh in embarrassment. is she laughing or crying? the captions question and suddenly it’s unclear just what is going on behind the paper she shields her face with.
she’s practicing again with PARK DOHYUN at a later time, still trying to hit her harmonies on-pitch when singing with the boys. again, it seems to be a struggle. dohyun is kind about it though. “i'm still having a little trouble with getting the rap part smooth,” he offers as if to help the girl feel less alone. instead, the scene changes to all the times dohyun has practiced that part, specifically how many times he hasn’t completed it successfully. things are not looking good for team b.
“i'm not gonna come out and say i'm feeling overly confident,” ren says in his interview room. a clip of haein’s flat vocals plays again as the team rehearses again and again. “it's one thing if i go home, but i wouldn't want to take anyone with me.”
haein appears in the interview room next. “ren was really fair with the line distribution and honest with feedback, and dohyun was literally always there whenever i needed help. i think us working well together during preparation was a sign that we would sound well together on stage…” the scene changes as her voice trails off, whatever thought she was about to say next left incomplete as the group stands on stage in front of the judges.
the music starts. the three contestants begin their performance.
all goes well at first; the harmonies that gave haein so much trouble seem to go off without a hitch and ren and dohyun’s voices are stable throughout. however, part way through the performance, there’s a random fluke; haein’s voice cracks. of course the production team picks up on the mistake, freezing everything and stopping all of the music to draw attention to the little error.
“her voice cracked,” ren’s voice sounds as the camera zooms in close on haein’s face, looking for her reaction to her own mistake. she keeps singing, though; powering through until they reach the end of the performance.
before the judges have a chance to give their feedback, the scene changes to haein in the interview room. a tear runs down her face which she wipes away quickly and tries to hide, forcing a smile onto her face. "i'm just really sorry to my team members, more than anything,” she says.
the judges’ faces range from disappointed, to concerned, to somewhat bored looking. it’s yuna who speaks first this time. “before we talk about anything else, i do want to say that you all did a great job preparing for this performance. we check in with the coaches working with you fairly regularly and it was great to hear that both vocal teams were so supportive of their groups and got along so well. it gives us all a lot of hope for the future trainees of our companies,”
“that said,” she continues, “it was not a perfect performance. it’s disappointing since i was enjoying everything until… well, haein, you know,” of course the mistake didn’t slip past the professionals. yuna smies sympathetically. “i do applaud you for continuing to sing despite the crack. it can be very difficult to move on when something like that rattles you.”
“i’m sure you know that we can’t only applaud your recovery, though,” jihun, as sharp as ever, cuts in next. “it was your responsibility to rehearse this song, learn it inside and out, and protect your voice from injury that would cause such a mistake to happen. every issue is preventable with enough practice. i’m sorry to say that it wasn’t the case for you today, haein.”
ran frowns at her fellow judge, apparently not happy with the harshness of his words. “i think we should take a moment to appreciate renyi and dohyun as well. you both did a fantastic job,” she looks the boys in the eyes, her words genuine, “both in your performances and in supporting your teammate. ren, i feel like we got to see a more emotional side of you than we’ve been able to see so far and i’d love to see this continue to grow.”
one more clip of haein crying in the interview room is shown, sad music playing over her single tear, before the scene once again changes. both teams now stand on the stage, jian standing between them with a cue card in her hand. “i have the results of the battle here,” she explains to both teams. “the winning team will be immune from elimination. unfortunately, one member of the losing team will be removed from the competition and sent home.”
both teams are lit up in bright white spotlights, intense music playing behind them as jian opens the card to see the judges’ verdict. “i’m happy to congratulate the winning team,” she begins to announce and the cameras zoom in on the faces of each team, one by one, as the results are delayed as long as possible.
“TEAM A,” she finally announces and the lights change, team b doused in red light and team a remaining in bright white. time is given for cheers and congratulations among the winning teammates before they’re asked to leave the stage. an elimination must be made from team b.
again, closeups of each teammate’s face are shown as judgment day is upon them. no one ever wants to be eliminated in a competition.
“i want to tell you all again that i truly enjoyed your performance,” yuna speaks to the losing team, one hand on her chest to express her sincerity. “however, team a was more technically correct and put on a stronger overall performance.”
“today’s first elimination,” jihun speaks slowly and the cameras pan across the faces of team b again, building suspense, “i’m sorry to announce… is OH HAEIN.”
“haein, i’m really sorry that your journey had to be cut short like this. you’re a very talented young woman and we so enjoyed watching your growth in the short time we had to know you,” ran speaks to the eliminated contestant, “i hope that our paths will cross again someday.”
time is given for haein to say goodbye to her teammates and friends, tears are shed, and a sad song plays in the background as she leaves the stage.
soon enough, the time for tears is over and the next battle will be between the rap groups. flashes of each team are shown waiting backstage for their turns on stage with team a approaching the stage. again, they start with RAP TEAM A. “i hope i didn’t let the judges or my teammates down,” RYU EUNKYUNG’s voice is heard over a zoomed in shot of her strained smile to nayoung.
the scene changes quickly enough to rap team a’s practice sessions. the three girls are going over their line distributions, apparently carefully combing over the line distribution that LEE NAYOUNG had written out herself. things seem to be going well from the distance that the camera initially captures them at and MIN HYEJIN is heard agreeing with nayoung’s decisions, but as it zooms in, some sort of strange expression crosses eunkyung’s face.
“nayoung… do you really think so low of me? most of my part would be censored like this. do you want me to disappear that badly?” the room seems to go silent save for tension so thick it’s nearly audible. the camera immediately flashes to nayoung’s face, trying to determine just what she might be thinking in response to eunkyung’s accusation. poor hyejin is left to mediate between the two girls as the tension escalates suddenly all at once.
“i do think you have less experience than hyejin and i,” nayoung appears to choose her words carefully, “but i don’t want you to disappear. i thought the line distribution was fair, but if you have any suggestions,” she slides a piece of paper over to the girl who has challenged her. but for as diplomatic as nayoung seems to be trying to be, eunkyung just can’t seem to accept that.
“seriously…the only way to change anything would be to take lines away from hyejin-ssi, and i’m not gonna do that,” as if the tension wasn’t already thick enough to cut with a sharp knife, eunkyung doesn’t stop there. her next challenge is direct, no longer a reflection on nayoung’s line distribution but on the other woman’s character itself. “to be honest, nayoung, there’s been something that’s been bothering me. do you think you’re better than everyone here?”
“honestly, there was a bit of trouble in the beginning,” hyejin’s interview takes over the screen. the girl lets out a long sigh. just what happened that wasn’t aired on television?
the three girls are shown standing on stage. it’s unclear if there was ever any resolution to the fight that they were having in the practice room and suddenly that tense smile that eunkyung sends nayoung, one that’s so different from the bright, reassuring expression she gives to hyejin, holds new meaning. can this team accomplish their mission? or will they fail to become a cohesive unit for the teamwork evaluation?
the music begins and there’s no time left to find out.
things seem to be going smoothly at first. the girls have a strong aura, each of them minding their expressions and playing the no fucks left to give type of character that the original song demanded of them. but trouble hits, as if nayoung had predicted it, during one of eunkyung’s parts. wardrobe and set meet in an unfortunate tangle that force her to drag her chair across the stage. it works, maybe, but it’s in the brief fumbles that it becomes clear that it was not meant to do that originally. the girl later ditches her belt entirely, but not before nearly missing her entrance a second time. of course, the judges’ sharp eyes detect everything.
but apparently the issue with the lines was settled and the rest of the performance goes off without any further problems. the three stand in their finishing poses, the camera capturing each of their faces before it comes time for the judges to give their verdict.
“i did my best," eunkyung is heard saying in her usual, easygoing tone.
“we had some trouble,” nayoung is heard in the next moment.
“congratulations,” ran speaks to the girls first, a smile that betrays none of her true thoughts on her face. “we know that there were some issues early on in your practices, but we were glad to see you were able to put aside your differences and come to a solution that everyone could agree to. and the final performance was very good. you all have amazing presence on stage and i personally couldn’t be happier that we had the chance to see this team perform together.”
“ran is right,” yuna speaks next, “problems happen. disagreements occur even in the closest knit teams. but what matters is that you were able to overcome them for the sake of the performance. that said, there’s a time and place to call out things you don’t agree with,” does she seem to be speaking directly to eunkyung? yuna keeps it unclear. “you need to ask yourself ‘is this really going to help my team?’ and if it’s not, let it go.”
jihun picks up his microphone, a laugh on his lips as he speaks, “ran and yuna are too kind. but i want to be honest with all of you,” his expression changes abruptly, suddenly very serious. “nayoung, you were the best in this performance. i could nitpick about your breath control or flow, but in comparison to the others, it’s very minor. i think i was most disappointed by hyejin. i had hoped that by focusing on a team to support we would be able to better see you shine. instead, i think you just disappeared into the background even more. i feel like we haven’t really seen min hyejin on stage yet, just someone who looks like her doing as she’s told.” he sighs, and then fixes his sights on eunkyung. “eunkyung, you know there was an issue with your wardrobe and a prop. these things can happen despite the best efforts of the staff. still, it was a shame to see it affect your performance. you’re very confident on stage but confidence can only carry you so far.”
the girls are dismissed from the stage for the time being and it is rap team b’s turn to perform.
a couple of days into their rehearsals, it’s noticed that jinae is missing. a staff member informs the remaining members of the team that she had to withdraw from the competition and they would continue as a group of three.
especially compared to the last team, the boys in RAP TEAM B seem to have much better teamwork right off the bat. the three are seen practicing together, rehearsing their lines, and supporting one another through the various sessions.
“in the past, i didn’t think of myself as particularly good at teamwork,” SEO JUNHO tells the cameras as he’s sat in the interview room, “but, being an idol means you have to work as a team, so i knew it was something i’d have to get better at,”
MOON CAMERON sits next to his teammate during a break, handing him a bottle of water as he does. “how are you feeling about it so far?” junho asks of the older contestant.
“so far so good, actually,” cameron responds optimistically.
and the team does seem to be fairing well. scenes of cameron helping GEUN WONJAE in practice, of chatting with junho, and junho laughing with wonjae play across the screen. “cam has experience with being an idol, so he sort of helped me see what was and wasn’t my responsibility, and help me feel less burdened. wonjae was great at helping me remind myself to rest,” junho’s voice is heard over the clips of the happy teammates.
but it’s not all fun and games; performance day is now upon them and the trio stands before the judges, glancing at each other and exchanging smiles as they take their places and prepare to try to impress the judges.
zoo is just as powerful as witch, but there’s something more upbeat and almost playful to this song. the three young men seem to capture the essence of it well; cam with his maturity and experience, junho with his passion and dedication, and wonjae simply enjoying the stage he stands on. the performance, however fun it is to watch, is not entirely without errors. cameron makes a mistake, putting himself in the wrong position and seemingly hiding behind wonjae when he should be able to be seen. it’s small in the grand scheme of things and is barely even caught by the cameras.
when the performance comes to a close and the ending fairies wrapped, the judges get the chance to speak to the team. this time, jihun is the first to pick up his microphone. “it was clear that you all had fantastic teamwork together,” he gives the trio a compliment first, though the ‘but’ is hanging in the air based on his tone alone. it comes soon enough. “i can’t help but feel a little disappointed, though. i feel like this performance was missing something. you all clearly got along much better than team a, but i feel like team a put on the better show.”
“i disagree,” ran pipes up at the first opportunity. “i really enjoyed your performance. it was fun, it was energetic, and i could tell that you all genuinely love to be on stage. team a has great presence, but your performance was just as memorable as theirs. there were some issues. cameron, i saw you go to the wrong position, but overall it was fun. junho, you just keep improving every time we see you. keep up the good work.”
wonjae is notably left out of ran’s praise; perhaps she’s just too nice to say something. but yuna picks up where ran left off, first congratulating the contestants on a good performance before fixing her attention on wonjae. “you completely disappeared in this performance,” she frowns, nearly scolding him as she gives her feedback. “we need to see you take a more engaged role if you’re going to continue in this competition. you can’t get by just coasting with talented teammates.”
with the second rap performance now completed, team a is called back to the stage to stand side by side with team b, jian in the center again with a folded card in her hand. this is a battle after all and the winner has to be announced. “the judges told me that rap team was the hardest to decide on so far,” she informs the two groups of contestants, “you were both very evenly matched in terms of talent and execution of your performances. let’s see who the judges decided would be the winner,”
jian unfolds her card, brows raising in surprise as she sees the team written down there. “do i have the right card?” she questions, though it is confirmed that only one of those cards existed in the first place. “alright, in that case, the winner of the rap teamwork battle is…”
the cameras zoom into each contestant’s facial expressions one more time, watching as the young men and women become nervous on whose team will be called.
“TEAM B!” jian announces as the lights above team a turn red while team b is given the chance to celebrate their victory. all team b members are safe and after a few minutes of cheers and hugs, they’re escorted off stage. “team a, one of you will be going home today.”
the judges take over again, a sour look on jihun’s face as he addresses the girls on stage in front of him. “as jian said, both teams were very closely matched. what it came down to was the very thing we were grading all of you on this round; teamwork. and your teamwork skills are also what decided who would be eliminated.”
“RYU EUNKYUNG,” ran speaks, a frown on her face as she’s clearly unhappy with this choice, “you’re a natural performer and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing you on stage. however, instigating arguments with your teammates is not a quality we want to see in our trainees. for that reason, you’ve been eliminated.”
“we hope that with a little time and maturity, we’ll be able to see a better version of you on stage again someday,” yuna adds with a sympathetic frown.
the girls are given time to comfort and say good bye to eunkyung on stage before the entire group leaves. the cameras focus in on the judges. ran sighs heavily. “it’s too bad,” she murmurs, “i liked her. she had a lot of potential.”
“but she picked the wrong mission to start an argument in,” jihun pointed out. he seems to want to say more, but refrains.
the sad music ends and it is time to move onto the final teams; the dancers. “this was a very competitive group,” jian announces to the audience behind the cameras, “there are a lot of talented dancers in this competition and…” though she’s reading from a script, she pretends that there’s something she’s having trouble finding the words for, “contestants who can only dance. our judges had a hard time picking the members to create these teams. we should be in for a couple of amazing performances.”
previews of each team’s performance play briefly over the screen before the scene abruptly shifts to the practice rooms and DANCE TEAM A’s rehearsals. the camera focuses on LEE NOEL in particular, watching as he puts his all into learning the routine. “lee noel, do you even want to be here?” the audio clip of jihun’s critique from the last episode plays over the scene.
MOON JINYOUNG is the first to confront noel in this team. the pair meet, just the two of them, and as noel expresses his excitement to be working in a team with the other young man, jinyoung seems to be unimpressed. “"this is really serious for some of us, noel,” he’s heard saying, “it's the best chance we've got to make it,”
noel is seen in the interview room looking more serious than he had in the previous episode. “i really...really want to prove myself, that i'm worthy of being here, and that i can and have improved.” clips of him practicing alone late at night are played on the screen. he clearly worked much harder for this mission than he had previously. but would it be enough? the captions and narration are sure to remind the audience that noel hasn’t placed above the bottom two ranks so far and that the judges had been particularly hard on him. can he catch up to jinyoung and the other contestants?
some concern is shown over HWANG BADA as well. she’s shown struggling in practice, missing movements and maybe even getting frustrated with her own performance. but she doesn’t stop working hard. in face, she also goes to jinyoung for help. “do you think you could demonstrate the dance for me? but like, really slowly?” she requests of the more experienced dancer, who seems to have taken on a sort of leadership role in this group. he’s quick to agree to help and the camera shows as he and bada run through the routine slowly, step by step, until she becomes more confident with the performance.
“jinyoung is an amazing dancer, but noel and i struggled a lot with the choreography,” bada’s interview is shown next, the girl being honest with her praise and feedback, “it was a team effort through and through, always helping each other out. we had a common goal; to put on our best performance.”
all three teammates are shown in their stage attire, waiting backstage for their cue to stand before the judges. jinyoung looks nervous. he wrings his hands, he takes a deep breath. and when they’re getting ready to perform, he sends both bada and noel a smile to encourage them despite his nerves.
“i fully believe that we can win, i've improved greatly and so have my teammates,” noel’s voice is heard over a shot of the trio bowing to the judges in greeting and preparing for their performance to start.
finesse starts playing and the three dancers all hit their opening moves with poise and confidence. bada and noel may not be the most confident or experienced dancers yet, but neither is outshown by jinyoung and his experience. he seems to be minding his movements to blend in with the others, or maybe he’s just tired from all their long practices. but he’s sure to shoot a finger heart to the judges; seo ran and yuna are seen smiling in response though jihun remains stony-faced as he observes the performance.
the camera catches bada’s expression during the dance break. she seems focused, though it’s not a very attractive look on her face. the judges scribble a note down in front of them.
finally, the performance comes to a close, and three breathless dancers hold their ending poses for a few seconds for the cameras before relaxing and standing in a line for their evaluations.
“lee noel,” jihun speaks to the participant that he had such a problem with before. the other two judges look at him nervously, the camera zooms in on the contestant’s face for his reaction. just what is jihun going to say this time? “good job,” the man actually gives a small smile. “you might have felt that i was mean and unfair to you last time. i just wanted you to understand how serious this competition was for the people around you and to respect their efforts by improving your own. i’m happy to see you took that critique to heart. we saw a much better version of you on stage today. congratulations.”
yuna and ran smile more easily knowing that jihun is not going to give another verbal beat down to the young performers in front of them. “bada,” ran picks up her microphone next, “it’s an absolute pleasure to see you grow more and more throughout these missions. we understand that you’re not as experienced as some of your teammates, but you don’t let that stop you from doing your best. that said, it’s also my job to tell you where you can continue to improve. your expressions weren’t always very good during this performance. the choreography is bright, so we would’ve liked to see a smile on your face more. it helps to engage the audience too. good work overall,” she congratulates the young woman.
“jinyoung,” yuna gives the remaining contestant feedback directly, “i think you’ve danced better in previous performances. but actually, i don’t think that’s a bad thing. being able to work in a team sometimes means that you can’t shine the brightest and overpower the others. you did well,” she congratulates him. it appears that any mistake he made went unnoticed… for now.
“great job everyone,” ran declares as the team is dismissed from the stage to make way for the next group.
“i keep thinking about my performance, i really did my best,” bada’s interview appears once more, then followed by noel’s. “i feel confident in this,” he says.
team a’s time has come to an end for now and DANCE TEAM B is shown instead, back to the practice rooms where the team runs through their choregraphy over and over again until they get it right. where team a’s “problem child” had been noel, team b has PARK STEVEN. “you need to take this competition more seriously,” bom had said last episode and in case the audience had forgotten, the clip of steven trying to reach his leg behind his head plays on screen again. will this round be any different?
“well, yeah...i mean. i did look...pretty silly,” steven himself admits in his interview, “i think i got what was coming. i’ve been humbled-- hardcore,” he’s seen practicing dedicatedly with MOON SAEA, the pair only taking occasional breaks on their phones before getting back to work.
“thought i’d put in a little extra time,” he tells MATTHEW LUONG as they practice together. it’s obvious that he too took the words of the judges to heart and is putting more time and effort into this week’s performance.
it’s during this practice together that matthew makes a big mistake; as they run through the choreography, by some fluke of balance and timing, matthew loses his footing and falls, landing hard on his shoulder. the world seems to stop and the cameras focus in on the fallen man’s form, the way he’s winded and clearly in pain as he lays on the floor.
“are you okay?” stevie is by matthew’s side in a moment, “can you move?” he asks worriedly. the editing makes it seem as if matthew is unresponsive for several long seconds, though reality is always different than what is shown on television.
“i didn’t hit my head,” matthew finally speaks, and a collective sigh of relief is felt as he’s able to sit up.
“i was embarrassed honestly. and i still am. it was a pretty rookie mistake,” matthew sits in the interview room, sharing the plight of his injury during practice. “it was honestly pretty brutal trying to balance practice time and letting my shoulder fully heal,”
but the team comes together and continues to work alongside one another until the performance is nearly upon them. as their time together comes toward the end, saea brings in a treat for her teammates; pokemon bread. the four eat and chat together, spending one more long day in the practice room before their performance. saea sits next to YEOM SARANG as they indulge in their snacks. “i have every confidence that you’re going to steal the show in ‘salute’. you look amazing doing the choreography! you make me wanna work harder so i can look just as good as you do out there!” sarang gushes to his teammate, nudging her arm.
saea laughs in response and returns with a compliment of her own; “you guys look super cool too,” she insists.
“i know i still have a long way to go; i tried my best to overcome that obstacle for this performance,” sarang tells the cameras in his interview. there’s no time left to prepare; performance day is now upon them.
the lights go up, the music starts, and the four dancers begin their routine. it’s powerful, it’s sexy, and each member seems to suit the style of the choreography well. but the camera focuses on matthew in particular, watching to see how he’s holding up with his shoulder injury. it lingers on every slightest perceived wince or moment of stiffness and ran is captured sending a concerned look to the team that is performing for her to judge.
sarang is also a favorite of the camera. his expressions are exaggerated nearly to the point of being over the top, but each smirk, wink, and lip-bite seems so perfectly timed and executed that it’s impossible to dislike him for it. he’s a star in his own right and he shines brilliantly on stage.
the performance comes to an end and the quartet each have a few seconds to capture their ending fairy moments before lining themselves up for review from the judges.
“first of all,” yuna leans forward in her seat as she picks up her microphone, “how is your shoulder doing, matthew?” genuine concern is painted across her face. surely an idol with a career as long and successful as hers would know the pain of working through injury. “i know that we did not see you at your best today, so it’s difficult to give any judgment. i just hope you’re able to take it easy and let yourself heal. injuries can become more serious if they’re ignored,” she cautions him, surely speaking from personal experience.
“i want to give a shoutout to sarang,” ran speaks next, “i think this concept really suited you well. your moves lacked a bit of power, but you made up for it and then some with your expressions. you’re a natural performer, aren’t you? you have excellent stage presence. saea as well, it’s a joy to watch both of you perform and you do a great job of drawing the audience in.”
“steven,” jihun’s tone is more serious than ran’s had been, “you’ve improved, i’ll give you that. but you’re still not where we’d like you to be at this point in the competition. i’m still not convinced that you’re taking this seriously, even when you have a team relying on you to.” the man is hard to impress and will not change his mind based on the judgements he’s already made.
the interview room takes over the screen, steven sitting in the middle of it. “i tried to make an improvement. i’m not sure if it’s up to standard or expectations, but i’m trying.” he says. the scene changes back to a close-up of steven’s face after jihun gave his critique.
with their critique given, team a is called back to the stage and both teams stand side by side as jian prepares to deliver the final winners and losers of the evening. “you all did a great job,” she assures both teams, smiling to her left and right before she starts opening the cue card with the results in her hands. “as the last performers tonight, you had a lot to live up to. i think you all did just that,”
her brow raises in what appears to be genuine surprise as she reads the team name on the card. “i think this is an upset,” she remarks, “i’m not sure anyone expected these results. but the winner for the dance battle is…”
“TEAM A!”
team b is doused in red light as team a is given the chance to celebrate their victory. no one looks more surprised than jian herself, who apparently had been convinced that the underdog team would be destroyed by the more competent dancers on team b. once the celebrations die down and team a is escorted off the stage, judgment day is upon team b.
“this was a surprisingly close call,” jihun explains to the losing team, “i honestly thought that team a didn’t have a chance in comparison to your team. but their teamwork outshown yours, to be honest. their team had a wide range of skill levels and they still managed to put on a great performance with minimal flaws. your performance was also very good, but there were times where it felt like some of you were outperforming the other members of your team. that’s the reason that we decided to choose team a as the winners.”
“as for eliminations,” yuna takes over, “we’ve decided to send two members of this team home today. MATTHEW LUONG, we have decided that your health is more important than this competition. there will be other opportunities in the future but in order to take advantage of them, you need to be healthy. we’re sending you home, but it’s because we want to see you on stage again soon at your best.”
ran picks up her microphone with a sigh. “as for our other elimination…” the camera passes between saea, steven, and sarang; which of the three will it be? “PARK STEVEN. i’m sorry, but we’re not seeing the improvement from you that we were hoping to see. for that reason, you’ve been eliminated from the competition. i think with a little more time and maturity, you’ll be an amazing performer someday. i do hope we get to see you again soon.”
tears are shed and goodbyes are shared on stage as steven and matthew must take their leave of next gen going forward. “it’s never fun to say goodbye to our friends,” jian shares sympathetically as the stage is cleared. “and we’re sorry to see the eliminated contestants leave today. however, we’re excited for those who remain and to see where they will grow from here.
the updated rankings are revealed to the contestants one by one, counting down from number seventeen all the way up to number one.
“congratulations, LEE NAYOUNG,” jian smiles at the girl as her name and face appears in the number one position. “despite your team losing a member today, you’re currently the first-place contestant. how does it feel? i’m sure it’s bitter-sweet,”
“WONJAE, KOU, BADA; i want to warn you regarding your current ranks. you’ve been hovering near the bottom for a few episodes now and getting by thanks to your teammates or just lucky circumstances. i would be very concerned if i were in your position,” she warns.
“before we wrap up today, we’d like to share the next mission with you. this is our performance evaluation. the teams have been mixed up again, each assigned to one of the three companies,” the teams are revealed on the same screen that previously showed the contestants’ rankings, one group for lime entertainment, one for sr media, and the third for studio delta. “over the next several days, you each will be covering a song from a senior in that company, singing and dancing again. where our center battle evaluated your raw skills, at this point in the competition we want to see what makes you special as a performer and potential future idol. though these songs have been performed countless times by professionals, we want to see how you’re able to make it your own and make you and your teammates shine regardless.”
“each team will be receiving instruction from the same coaching staff that cultivated these groups in their respective companies. make the most of this opportunity; we’re looking forward to what you can show us!”
with that, my turn begins playing in the background and the episode comes to a close.

ah hiiii key thank you for these <333
best idol turned actor/actress: IM SIWAN, lee junho, park jinyoung for the boys and jung eunji, lee jieun and kim sejeong for the girls probably, but there are actually quite a few idol actors who are really capable and talented that i was tempted to put on here.
favorite sub-unit release: i think it's a fight to the death between exo-cbx blooming days and wjsn the black easy like i just. love both songs so much and they're integral to my personality.
if you could pick an old and/or disbanded group to debut again with their same debut song in 2023, what group would you choose?: i did this already but to give a different answer lovelyz because they deserve the world.
