It’s all about “Unicorns”

It’s the latest saga of “I thought of it first”. If you haven’t heard, Starbucks in currently in a lawsuit... over its iconic sugary acid trip “Unicorn Frappuccino”. The End Café ( claims that Starbucks had ripped off its own creation “Unicorn Latte” which debuted in the December of 2016, before the Unicorn Frappuccino. But let’s just take a closer look at these two flavorful drinks...

On April 19th, Starbucks debuted their neon Unicorn-- a concoction of juice concentrate, color additives, artificial sweeteners, and layers of creme. For those in a pursuit of a healthier lifestyle, this might as well be your worst heart pounding nightmare.

And this is The End’s less attention-grabbing Unicorn. But don’t get me wrong, it’s quite an interesting drink-- a dream elixir born in an era of healthier living. This drink includes cold-pressed ginger, maca root, and it’s main eyebrow-raising ingredient: blue algae. Personally, I wouldn’t try it but if you’re looking for something new, you might want to put this Unicorn near the top of your bucket list. Future food, am I right?

Now, the only real similarities that I can see is in the name. The End is currently in the process of trademarking the “Unicorn Latte” label and that patent is still pending. Yet what about the other Unicorns out there? Here’s a shout out to Toronto’s CutiePie Cupcakes & Co.’s own Unicorn Latte...

So what do you think? Does The End have a point, or are they just throwing a fit that their Unicorn Latte didn’t get as much publicity as the large international corporate giant Starbucks?
