Sudden kross thoughts + headcanons I drew in like 20 minutes I seriously can't stop thinking about these two idiots and I need to write about this somewhere..

Like- They're so different (also very similar) but complement each other so well- just perfect for each other. Cross needs someone to tell him that it's okay to relax sometimes and Killer needs someone to help him take care of himself more <3 gfjgkfgjfkh my sweet babies-

something i did when i saw a post of joku talking about this topic: it's an interesting concept but practically impossible because nothing stops artists from continuing to create (this is convenient for ink), based on this i tried to adjust the words of the creator of dreamtale herself to her characters under an objective truth— there is no limit to the multiverse

Can we know more about agdt swap and ink's dynamic?

swap and ink happen to be really close actually - though there are uncertainties to their friendship

ink, only seeing in white and black, mostly relies on movement as a point of interest. things that are bland in shape and action make him easily bored and disinterested - swap just so happens to be neither

he follows swap around in his daily mischief and activities, often participating in his ideas and never turns him down whenever he has an idea in mind - no matter how bad that said idea is. he also finds his constant motivation to act inspiring that it relieves any question of why ink would doodle swap a lot when he's in the moment

swap sees ink as a great friend, being accepting of his very intrusive attitude although can be a bit unsettled by his owl like behavior, always looking over his shoulder and checking in on the shenanigans he is up to. swap just continues to live his day by day life and has accepted that ink is a self inserted part of that life.

a concept, if you will. i think Dust should get a service dog. they can be used to tell hallucinations from reality. they can help for folks with narcolepsy - which is something i headcanon Dust as having, as well as chronic pain - that his magic gets trapped in his body sometimes and causes pain, cramping and tiredness - something thats a little like fibromyalgia, that our pup here could help with with something like deep pressure therapy. i think that Dust struggles to verbally communicate with people, and as such, his 'social life' could struggle, and that having an animal around that truly understands him could really help. i think hed REALLY benefit fron a service animal for a lot of reasons!

if you'll excuse the really quick shitty drawing and the worlds worst attempt at drawing a dog and the, uh, dog jacket thing. ive never drawn a dog in my life, not properly anyway, so- i tried?

i dont normally draw him with the black shadow thingie, i prefer to do like, a half one - i did this time because i didnt want to draw his face lol

Was there every any hope for Dream and Nightmare?

Could they have stayed in their universe, stayed together, stayed happy?

Maybe. But somehow, I can't see it, at least not after the village comes into the picture. They might have been able to stay in their own little bubble forever, but as soon as that outside force exists, the clock starts ticking.

It was Nightmare who couldn't take it anymore. But it could have easily been Dream. Either way, it was only a matter of time. I don't think there was any avoiding it, not really. Not in their situation, not with who they are.

Nightmare. The scapegoat, the dark one, the moon, the night. Tied to his brother by his very name, because even though he wasn't a nightmare, he's Dream's opposite, and that is all he was ever seen as by others. The dark to Dream's light, the negativity to Dream's positivity. Always defined by his brother, even before he was hurt for merely existing. Did he ever really get to be his own person?

And Dream, the golden one, the perfect one, the kind one, the sun. Always so helpful and positive. Always in demand, because who doesn't want to be happy? Their happiness is his responsibility. So he smiles, he helps, he conceals all the stress and sadness and anger and grief. He can't be seen with negative emotions, he can't effect others with his own feelings, he can't let his own feelings or needs or self matter when there's always other people who need him. So he keeps up that sunshine mask, keeps all the clouds and rain and storms locked in the dark where nobody can see them.

You can't maintain masks like that under enough built-up pressure. Eventually, something breaks.

Maybe they still had a chance. Broken things can heal, after all. Maybe they could have helped each other, grown, figured out a way to make things better.

Or maybe they were doomed from the start.

All I know is that if one didn't break, the other would have eventually.

A small headcanon related to Cross: he looks quite intimidating and cold to strangers even though he doesn't mean it but when he's with people he's comfortable with he's loud and can't hide his emotions at all- he's easily excited, he can't keep that serious royal guard persona

Though now that I think about it even when he's trying to look intimidating he's adorable I'm SORRY I CAN'T TAKE HIM SERIOUSLY I LOVE HIM A LOT

Btw I literally drew this as quickly as I could so it's messy but I had to convey my vision before heading off to bed
