Silently sitting at the couch of a friend’s party, Yunho chugged down his 3rd bottle of beer for the night. Just today, his fourth girlfriend decided to break up with him through text, saying their usual “it’s not you, it’s me” line that he is tired of hearing.
As much as it’s supposed to sound reassuring, he can’t help but think that maybe there really is something wrong with him as a boyfriend. Does he not spare them enough time and attention? Does he spend way too much time with his friends? Does he always stay up late all the damn time, playing his god forsaken video games and occasionally forgetting to text his past significant others back unintentionally?
He really can’t answer his own questions but he knows.. he fucking knows that he’s nothing but a good, loyal boyfriend to those who he used to date. But why do they always leave him?
He felt someone nudged on his knee, cutting him off of his thoughts. Looking at that person, he saw Mingi with eyes full of concern. “Dude, we’ve been looking for you for the past five minutes already then I see you sitting on the couch, glaring at everyone. What’s wrong?”
San was the first one to notice their arrival and smiled the brightest smile he can muster while clapping his hands. He looks like he’s not yet drunk.

“There’s our Yunho!” He exclaimed which gained the others attention, some even greeting him with enthusiasm as they went back to playing. He silently sat beside Wooyoung who looked at him full of curiosity. Usually when they party, he’s one of those causing chaos but due to how he’s acting now, Wooyoung must’ve sensed that there’s something wrong.
He put his arm over Yunho’s shoulder and shook him slightly, “What’s bothering you, bud?”
That single, simple sentence seems to break all the emotions and questions that Yunho’s been keeping to himself as he felt his eyes get teary and he asked, “Is there something wrong with me?”
The chaos surrounding him suddenly became calm as the rest of his friends circled him. No one spoke and the silence was unbearable until Hongjoong decided to break it.
“Yunho, what happened?”
He took a deep shaky breath, “Eunhae broke up with me.”
A scoff was heard and everyone looked at Yeosang, “See what I told you? This is what you get for not listening, Yunho.” He said as Yunho stared at him with a hardened expression.
Hongjoong, who’s trying to do damage control, decided to peel Yeosang away from their circle but the younger broke free, “Yeosang, now’s not the time–”
“Now’s not the time to what, Hongjoong?” Yeosang spit out with so much hatred, making Hongjoong look away. The younger man proceeds to walk and stand in front of Yunho, gripping both of his arms tightly, “Jeong Yunho, what did I tell you? She’s not good for you, she’s–”
“Gonna break your heart and leave you broken like the rest of them did. I know, Yeosang. I know.” Yunho cut him off, voice full of regret, “I should’ve listened to you.” He said, this time, with a small voice.
Yeosang just rolled his eyes and pulled Yunho in a hug with his head on his chest, steadied by the smaller’s hand. The action caught him off guard and all of a sudden, the only thing he could feel and hear is his sobs breaking free from his mouth, tears falling down from his eyes as his body trembles in brokenness.
The whole pool house was silent and the only thing that’s audible is the ongoing party happening outside. His friends let him cry until he’s too tired and broken to let anything out. Wiping his eyes, he giggled tiredly,  “I’m a fucking fool. I don’t want to love anymore. I just want to be loved the way I deserve.”
No one spoke but his friends’ hearts broke at what he said. Yunho is loved by everyone but he’s just too engrossed in giving away his heart to someone that he didn’t notice it.
Wooyoung removed the hair from his eyes and whispered, “Let’s get you home, buddy, so you can rest. You consumed enough alcohol.”
“I’m not fucking drunk, I want to drink more!” He tries to argue, making Seonghwa speak up, “You may not be drunk but you’re tired and have alcohol in your system. That’s not healthy. You know that drinking is not the healthiest way to cope up with heartbreak, Yunho.”
“Let me be!” He shouted as he tried to pry off Wooyoung’s grasp on him as he tried to stand up to get more alcohol.
“No I won’t let you be!” Seonghwa argued back, pushing him down to where he’s seated, the tension coming back again, “You’re broken enough and if you drink more you’ll be nothing but an unrepairable mess and I don’t want that. We don’t want that to happen.”
Sinking the older’s words in, Yunho has no choice but to agree. Seonghwa’s right, damn, he is always right. He decided to silently follow Wooyoung to his car and the drive back home was silent. No one spoke until they arrived at his condominium.
“Take care of yourself, Yunho.” Wooyoung said, “We care for you. We love you, always remember that. I know it’s tiring but we’re always here to help you be whole again.” After saying those words, he decided to drive away and go back to Jongho’s house.
Entering his apartment, he didn’t bother to turn on the lights and decided to do his night routine and lay down in his bed as he looked at the view of the city on his window, thinking about Wooyoung’s words. It helped bring a slight smile on his face as he decided to let himself slip off to dreamland.
The next day, Yunho decided to visit his favorite coffee shop to grab his usual favorite treats for the morning to start it well instead of moping around because he got his heart broken.
Arriving at the cafe, he was greeted by the Mrs. Kim, the lady who owns and baked the treats in this coffee shop, “Good morning sweetheart! Do you want the usual?”
“Good morning Mrs. Kim! I think I’ll grab a hot chocolate instead of cold, this time.” He replied with a kind smile as he watched Mrs. Kim fusses over the cashier (who’s her daughter) to punch his orders. Haru smiled at him when she gave him his receipt but leaned forward, gesturing Yunho to do the same.
“You see that girl over there?” She asked, pointing at the girl in the corner, “She entered earlier looking sad and all. You think you can cheer her up?”
Yunho rolled his eyes, “I’m not a clown, Haru. Also, I can’t even bring myself to cheer up when I just went through a break up myself.”
Haru was taken aback by his response then she rolled her eyes, “But you don’t look broken unlike her! You look completely fine.” She pouted and gestured to the girl again, “She looked like she’ll pass out due to sadness.”
Yunho just let out a sigh, “What do I get in return?”
“Two extra cinnamon rolls under my tab.” She said and winked at him. Yunho held his hand out and she took it to seal their deal. “Good luck, Yunho!” She singsongs and Yunho just rolled his eyes.
Approaching her table, Yunho decided to tap the girl on her shoulder and she thankfully looked up but didn’t speak. The curiosity in her eyes though, was enough to voice out her question of “who are you and what are you doing here?”
Scratching the back of his head, Yunho smiled shyly, “Hi, I’m uh, Yunho. I’m alone and have no company. Is there anyone seated there?” He asked, pointing at the empty seat in front of her.
“There used to be someone seated here but they left me.” She said in a quiet voice enough for Yunho to hear but didn’t comment on it then she proceeded to answer him while shaking her head, “No one’s seated there.”
“I hope you don’t mind if I.. sit here?” He asked cautiously, “But it’s okay if you don’t want me too! I’ll just look for an empty space.”
Y/n decided to look around and noticed that the coffee shop is a bit packed. Feeling guilt immediately eating her up just in case she rejects him, she answered, “You can sit here, it’s okay.”
Without saying any more words, Yunho sat down in front of her. They were silent for a while until Yunho spoke up, “You know, me and my friend noticed that you’re actually not well.”
“Your friend?” She asked, thinking if this guy was playing with her, that he’s with someone else even if he told her no, just like what he did with her. “You’re with someone yet you told me that–”
Her sentence was cut off by a giggle from Yunho, “The cashier is the friend I’m talking about.” He clarified and she can feel the heat of shame spreading through her cheeks.
And after that, silence was there again.
No one really spoke until Yunho’s order arrived. He was munching happily on his cinnamon roll and took a sip of his hot.. coffee? Chocolate? When he looked at her and said, “You know I heard you when you said that there’s someone seated here before. Where are they?”
Y/n looked at him with an unpredictable look and that’s when Yunho realized that it must be a sensitive topic. Immediately waving his hands that are holding the utensils, he added, “It’s okay if you don’t want to talk about it! I’m just a mere stranger, I know.”
The look of panic on his face made y/n smile a bit as he resembled a puppy that got caught doing something wrong. She picked on the loose thread of her sweater when she decided to speak up, “You know, it’s my dream to rant to a stranger because I’m certain that we won’t meet again and I think that time is now, though I’m not sure about the not meeting you again part. I’m y/n, by the way.”
A soft smile flashed through Yunho’s features as he understood what she meant, “You can speak whenever you’re ready.”
She let out a deep sigh and started, “You know the feeling when someone you gave your all just decided to fuck you up emotionally?” She asked and laughed humorlessly, “That’s what he did to me. I won’t be saying his name, I hope you don’t mind.” She added as she wiped her tired-looking eyes.
Yunho nodded silently and gestured to her to continue, “I’ve been living with my boyfriend, well, ex boyfriend for six months now. We’ve been together for a year and a half after I met him at my best friend’s party. We were happy, really. After dating each other for a year, he decided to move in at my apartment unit.”
“The first three months were full of legitimate happiness. There were times where we just laze around, play with each other and sometimes do some random things. I thought it’ll stay that way but I was wrong. Somewhere around April, he started to be distant towards me. I was trying to reach him out but he just kept on pushing me away.” She paused for a while and wiped the tear that fell from her eye.
Taking a deep, shaky breath, she continued, “I thought he was just stressed with college and all but no. Somewhere mid-April, I was waiting for him to come home late at night then he went home drunk. Really really drunk. We had our fair share of parties but that’s the first time I saw him like that and he didn’t tell me that he’s going to a party as well. I mean, I wouldn’t stop him but asking for permission could’ve been nice.”
“We started screaming at each other that time and it was the first ever huge fight we had. He left my apartment that very same day and I don’t know where he went. He went home in the morning and apologized to me then of course I accepted it. Those things just continued until recently, he said something that I really won’t forget which is also the very same reason why I broke up with him.”
“He was drunk that time again when he shamelessly and proudly confessed to me that he’s been seeing my best friend and that she’s the better girlfriend than me. I mean, I’m okay with breaking up with a lying, cheating asshole but my problem is I gave up everything for him. He’s my first love and she’s my only friend who didn’t leave my side. Now I have no idea on how to bring back my life from before.” Tears were now falling down her face nonstop as she tried to wipe it off her face but the waterfall from her eyes showed no sign of stopping. Yunho frantically pulled his handkerchief on his pocket and offered it to her which she gladly accepted.
“We’re stopping here, okay? I don’t want you to faint due to crying.” Yunho said as he fidgeted with his fingers and she sobbed quietly. This girl is the same as him. Broken, left alone, not appreciated. But their difference is that he has everything she doesn’t have and can do anything she can’t. He has friends to help him fix himself and welcome him with open arms when he’s too overwhelmed with sadness and that made him realize of how fucking lucky he is.
Until now here he is, conversing with a very broken girl and thinking of a crazy thing that he never thought he’ll be doing.
Silently grabbing y/n’s trembling hands into his he smiled, “Let me help you.”
She was taken aback by what he said and before she can react, Yunho explained his intentions, “We’re both broken, my girlfriend just broke up with me yesterday but that doesn’t fucking matter. Between the two of us, I can completely keep myself going. I still have friends who can help me when I’m in my most vulnerable state but you.. your only friend betrayed you and I just realized that maybe this is the time someone needs me.”
Too stunned to speak, y/n just clasped Yunho’s hands tighter, “Yunho..”
“Y/n, you don't have to say anything but please reconsider my intention. I want to help you.”
A set of fresh tears fell down from her eyes as she looked at him. This time, with a smile. The most beautiful smile that Yunho has ever seen because no smile can be compared to a smile of a broken one.
“Thank you, Yunho.” She said in a whisper but enough for the both of them to hear.
He softly patted her hand and answered in return, “Now’s not the time to say that. Thank me when you’re whole and fixed again. Deal?”
A laugh bubbled out of y/n as she agreed, “Deal.”
Six months later…
Laying down on his bed with his eyes closed, Yunho couldn’t help but think through the sudden turn of events in his life. His mind immediately flew through the memory of the day he first met y/n.
Weeks after their encounter, it was quite hard to reach out to her despite knowing her side of the story. They agreed to meet everyday at the same spot in the same cafe and just talk about their own feelings. Y/n had a hard time letting her emotions out during those times as she really won’t be able to speak without crying and Yunho has to offer his handkerchief all the time since she always seems to forget to bring hers all the time.
Right after that, a month passed by quickly and she started to smile and laugh more. She also met the boys who welcomed her into their circle with open arms but at the same time, she has her guards up just in case things go wrong. The boys never failed to notice it but they chose not to comment on it. She immediately warmed up to San and Wooyoung and they’re labeled as the chaotic trio in their circle. Y/n felt herself getting happier.
In the second month, however, despite having enough friends, she still finds herself going back and forth to the past. There are times where she had her emotional episodes and she’s just thankful that Yunho’s been there for her always. She spent most of her time staying over Yunho’s place than she spent in her own place, telling each other stories that the other doesn’t know and just laughing her sadness away.
And in the last week of the second month, y/n decided to move over the empty condominium space beside Yunho’s as she reasoned out that she can’t stand the memories made in that apartment so she decided to move out. As Yunho helped her unpack with a fair share of giggles and laughter, that’s when Yunho realized that he’s healed.
In the last month of the year, which marks the fifth month after they met, Y/n seemed to go back to her normal self and Yunho saw her as a very giggly and carefree person. Yes, there were times where she remembers her ex boyfriend but instead of wallowing in sadness like she used to do, she started making fun of that memory that left her very broken before. The first time they spent Christmas together was when Yunho realized, he’s in love.
He’s falling for her and he’s scared.
He’s scared that the same thing will happen to him all over again. That after making her happy, she’ll leave him like how they did with him. Cancelling all his plans the day after that, he decided to voice out his concerns to Yeosang.
“Sang, I’m scared.” The first thing he blurted out with panicked eyes by the time Yeosang opened his apartment door.
His friend guided him to his couch and patted him in the back, “What happened, Yunho?”
“I..” he let out a deep sigh and he felt tears pooling in his eyes, “I’m falling for y/n, Sangie.”
A breath of relief rushed out of Yeosang’s mouth and he smiled warmly, “What’s so scary about that?”
“I.. I don’t know. Maybe she’s going to leave me like all of them did. Maybe I’ll get broken again but this time I won’t be able to pick myself up and–”
“Yunho, it’s not love if it doesn’t hurt.”
Yunho was dumbfounded by his friend’s words; he opened his mouth only to find himself closing it once again, making him look like a fish gasping for air.
Yeosang stared at him intently as he took a hold in Yunho’s hand, “Yunho, listen to me. Y/n, she’s thankful for you. Though I don’t know what really happened to her the day you met but I can tell that you helped her.”
“I assure you, y/n’s not the type to leave the only person she’s relying on. She’s too grateful to do that, used to be too broken to think of that. She’s not the type to put herself in the same situation that I’m assuming other people used to put her in. And I get it, you’re scared but Yunho, the happiness she gave you is not describable by words. It’s not just me who noticed it but the other boys as well. She’s different, one of a kind.”
“Give it a try and maybe she’s the right person for you.” Yeosang said as he put finality in his words, drowning Yunho in realization.
“Yeosang..”
“I know, you’re welcome. Now go home and fix yourself. I know you had fun staying up with her yesterday.” His friend pushed him out of his apartment door and before he completely left the place Yeosang called him out once again, “If things go wrong, we’ll always be here for you.”
And that made Yunho’s heart swell in happiness.
Except, when he saw her again, Yunho just chickened out and decided to avoid her like a plague and y/n is not dumb enough to not notice it.
January is their sixth month together and it’s also been a few weeks now since Yunho started avoiding her. It made her sad to the point that she ranted to Wooyoung and San on their separate group chat on how Yunho’s not talking to her and how it frustrates her.
Y/n, unlike Yunho, is aware of the feelings that bubbled up in her heart. The way she felt the butterflies on her stomach two months ago when she heard Yunho sing for the first time and she blatantly told herself that yep, she’s in love with her golden retriever-looking friend. She immediately told San and Wooyoung about it as the two boys called her suddenly and started squealing like high school girls in the duration of their call.
She thought that everything was going fine and she kept her secret well not until Yunho started avoiding her after they all spent the New Year’s Eve together. She started to get worried, thinking if she did something wrong.
Deciding that instead of wallowing in her own overthinking tendencies, y/n went to Yunho’s apartment and didn’t bother knocking as she punched his too familiar code at the door. It’s in the middle of the afternoon and she figured that maybe he’s still at his bedroom after experiencing one of a hell week because college already started again.
Opening his bedroom door silently, y/n saw Yunho laying down on his bed with his head turned to the side of the window. Eyes obviously blank and void of emotions. She silently made her way to his bed and jumped on it and shouted, “Yunho!”
“Jesus, you scared me!” Yunho exclaimed as his arms wrapped around y/n’s torso with his eyes wide, “What are you doing here?”
She laid on her stomach and giggled as she removed the hair covering her eyes, “I came to visit you.” She replied with a pout and she spoke once again, “You’ve been ignoring me since the year started, I miss you.”
Yunho stared at her incredulously and he tucked her hair behind her ears, noticing the blush spreading through her cheeks, “I’m sorry, I just have a lot of things in mind.”
She let out a huff making Yunho raise and eyebrow at her and she smiled, “I’ll listen to you this time.”
“Y/n–”
“Come on, Yunho. You helped me a lot so now it’s my time to repay you. Maybe talking can help you get your mind out of the gutter.”
Yunho just laid there silently once again thinking through things that can possibly happen. If he tells her, their friendship might either end immediately or she reciprocates his feelings for her. But then, he can hear Yeosang speaking in his mind.
Give it a try.
He watches as she fidgets with his fingers that are laying in his stomach. He stared at her eyes and it reflected the night sky filled with stars even if it’s the middle of the day. He let out a sigh making y/n look at him and giggle, “That’s a deep–”
“I like you.”
Y/n was dumbfounded for a while as she stared at Yunho with her mouth open making the latter laugh and guide his hand under her chin to close it. She stared at him still and it’s been a minute that passed by when he confessed and Yunho couldn’t help but feel nervous so he added, “I-I understand if you don’t like me back it’s just that–”
“Idiot.” She suddenly blurted out, as she sat down beside him from her lying position, cutting his words. Yunho looked at her confused, “Huh?”
“You’ve been avoiding me because you like me? What are you trying to do? Damage control?”
“Well, yes–”
“That’s dumb, Yunho.” She said as a matter of factly and Yunho’s eyebrows were knitted, “Look if you’re just going to roast me–”
“I like you too, you fucking dumbo. Are you going to kick me out?” Her words sounded confident which made Yunho stare at her in wonder. They were silent for a while and it’s enough time for Yunho to help his mind process her words.
Giggling as he did so, y/n looked at him confused, “Why are you giggling?”
“Come here.” He said as he pulled her beside him, y/n’a face tucked in his neck, “I really like you.” He said once again then chose to proceed, “I was scared that you’ll leave me like they did if I told you.”
She hummed, “I really really really like you too. I know when we first met that I was broken but that didn’t make me afraid to love. I won’t leave you like they did.”
Yunho smiled through her hair and dropped a kiss on the crown of her head, “Let me take you out on a date?”
“We still have some time today. We can go to Mrs. Kim’s coffee shop. We can visit an arcade then eat dinner out? Maybe do a little bit of shopping?” She suggested as she looked up and their gazes met. He smiled softly at her and hummed, “Sounds like a plan.”
“For now cuddle me here in your bed.” She said in a cute demanding voice causing a laugh to bubble out of Yunho’s mouth.
“Whatever my princess wants then she gets.”
She let out a squeal and squeezed herself tighter into him as if they weren’t too close enough yet. She thought about the first time she met the light of her life and remembered a very important thing they agreed on.
“Yunho?”
“Yes, baby?”
“Thank you.” He looked down at her and booped their noses together as they cuddled in the warmth of Yunho’s bed. Yunho, smiling like an idiotic fool, immediately knows the true meaning behind her gratitude because he feels the same, he’s thankful he met her that day.
Maybe Yeosang is right as well, she may really be the right person for him, and for the first time in years, this is the only relationship Yunho had that made him feel so happy and content.

NatAnna oneshot for day 1! Pretty short so I’ll post the full thing here!
Title: The Ways of Love
Word Count: 1781 (~8 minute read)
Summary: “Teach me how to flirt!“ Nat begged his siblings.Nat wants to learn how to flirt from his older siblings. He wants to be closer to Anna. But what could his siblings possibly help him?
~~~~~
"Wait, what did you say?” Ray asked, staring at Nat with a dumbfounded expression on his face.
“I said you should teach me how to flirt!” Nat demanded, crossing his arms and looking at his siblings. “I want to be closer to Anna!”
This news certainly caught Ray and Emma by surprise. The pair was just sitting at a table, researching about The Seven Walls through thousands of books in the archives room when Nat suddenly burst through the door with this news. All of a sudden, he came to the pair asking them to teach him about flirting. It certainly caught them off guard.
“I- I don’t think I’m hearing you right…” Emma said, putting a hand on her face as she felt an unbearable blush rise to her cheeks. “You want us… to teach you… how to flirt… with Anna…”
“Then you did hear me right!” Nat screamed. He grabbed onto Ray’s shoulders and started shaking the poor boy. “Please, I’m begging you! You two are the smartest here! The others aren’t nearly as smart! Surely you must have read something on flirting! Dating! Anything!”
Nat then turned to Emma, making her flinch. He did to her what he did to Ray: He grabbed her by the shoulders and started shaking her. Ray leaned against his chair, dizzy from being shaken around. “Don’t you see how cute she is?!” Nat yelled at Emma as her head swung back and forth, “Her kind smile! Her unwavering determination! How could anybody not fall in love with her! She’s an angel in disguise!”
“I- I see angels…” Emma cried out, almost gagging from being shaken so much.
“Stop! Stop!” Ray yelled at Nat, wanting him to stop shaking Emma. “We get it! We’ll help you with your… ugh… flirting.”
Nat turned his face back to Ray, and Ray was disturbed to see a stream of tears flooding Nat’s eyes. “Oh, thank you!” Nat shouted, running up to Ray and hugging him, making Ray groan. “I’ll never forget this! You’re the best siblings I could ever ask for!”
Eventually, once Nat stopped being so emotional, Nat sat down at the table with Ray and Emma. Together, all three of them pondered on what Nat could do to win Anna’s heart.
“I really don’t know what you expect of us,” Emma mumbled, “We don’t exactly have any romantic experience…”
“Well according to the books I’ve read, one thing you could do is appeal yourself to her,” Ray mentioned, “You know, like your personality or your personal traits.”
Emma turned to Ray, confusion plastered onto her face. “Huh? You read books on how to flirt? What good is that?” Emma asked him.
Ray realized what he said. He turned his head away from Emma, making sure she didn’t see the blush coming onto his face. “No reason…” Ray mumbled out, confusing Emma even more.
“So my personality and personal traits, huh…” Nat said, grinning to himself. “I can do that!”
Without so much as a warning, Nat raced out of the room, leaving behind a dumbfounded Ray and Emma. He raced through the halls and found Anna in her room, sitting on her bed and reading her own book. When he entered the room, she looked up at him, her eyes widening slightly upon his arrival. “Nat? What are you doing here?” she asked him.
Nat felt his heart beat faster. Still, he marched on, entering her room. Once he was a few feet away, he posed dramatically, sweeping back his hair. “So, Anna!” he started out, “Have you seen my magnificent nose line?!”
Anna stared at him, confused. But they didn’t move. He stood there in awkward silence. Nat started sweating profusely by the minute. “Yes, your nose line is nice,” Anna responded at last, “But did you… need anything else?”
“It wasn’t working…!” Nat thought to himself. She didn’t look as flustered as he was. Shouldn’t she be blushing and swooning over him by now?!
“I- I’ll be right back!” Nat yelled out as he raced out of the room. He proceeded to go straight back to the archives room, where Ray and Emma were once again shocked by his sudden arrival. Nat slammed his hands on the table, glaring at the pair. “You guys, it didn’t work!” Nat complained, “She isn’t swooning over me!”
Ray and Emma stared at Nat with blank expressions before Ray let out a groan. “This is ridiculous…” Ray muttered in annoyance.
Emma let out a light, nervous chuckle. “Um, you could try complimenting her?” Emma suggested, earning a stare from both Ray and Nat. “I think most girls like compliments!”
Ray continued to stare at her, pondering. “Hey, Emma,” Ray called out.
“Yes?” came her reply.
“I like how brave you are.”
Emma tilted her head in bewilderment, staring at Ray with a confused expression. “I don’t think a compliment requires you to be that brave…” Emma told him, then, turning to Nat, she missed the displeasure forming on Ray’s face. “Anyways, Nat, you should give him a compliment!”
“I see! A compliment!” Nat said, a bright smile on his face as he considered that. “I can do that!” It was an easy thing to do! There were so many things he could compliment her for, after all!
So once again, Nat zoomed down the halls and into Anna’s room. She was sitting on her bed, right where he left her. “Anna!” Nat called out.
“Nat?” Anna replied, looking at him once more.
Nat entered the room, standing a few feet away from the bed. “Anna, I…”
“Really like your cuteness?” Nat thought in his head. “How she’s studying medicine for her family? Her bright smile? How she does her hair? What about how she loves everyone? How calm and collected she is?”
Thoughts swirled around in his head. He found himself opening and closing his mouth, unable to form words as Anna stared at him. She stared with those mystical blue eyes of hers. Those eyes only made him even more nervous.
But he couldn’t do it…
It… was too embarrassing…!
“I- I’ll be right back!” Nat bailed out of the room. He just couldn’t do it. There was no way he could say all that mushy stuff to her face! So he ran back to the archives room, and it seemed like Ray and Emma were already anticipating his arrival. They looked up from their books as Nat approached.
“Another method!” Nat cried out, slamming his hands on the table once more. “I can’t do that one!”
“Got too scared, huh…” Ray said, “Told you so, Emma. I win.”
Emma pouted at Ray, pointing a finger at him. “Okay then, Ray, you tell him what to do!”
Ray gave a sigh. He put his book down and crossed his arms. “Okay, look,” he said, pointing a finger at Nat. “You go and stand in that room for 5 minutes. You can stand in a corner or even hide under her bed. I don’t care. But I just ask for 5 minutes.”
“I- I guess I could do that…” Nat muttered. “But Ray… what good would that do?”
“Just trust me on this one,” Ray told the boy, waving him off. “Now be on your way, and remember: 5 minutes.”
And so Nat once more walked off and out of the archives room. He made his way over to Anna’s room, and it seemed like she was expecting his appearance. “You’re back,” Anna said as he entered the room.
“Yeah, I am…” Nat said nervously as he closed the door behind him.
“Are you staying in here this time?” Anna asked.
Nat nodded.
“I see…” Anna said with a hum. “Well, I don’t mind. Why don’t you take a seat?”
She gestured over to her desk. Nat gulped and did an awkward walk across the room, sitting at the desk just by her bed.
5 minutes… He really thought he could do it, but now he was itching to run out of the room like the coward he was. Has it been 5 minutes yet? It felt like it’s been forever. Nat wasn’t good at making conversation in awkward moments like this. How do you talk to a girl when her attention is focused on a book? Should he crawl under the bed like Ray suggested?
But suddenly, Anna started to slowly close her book. Her head gradually tilted towards Nat, smiling at him. Nat felt shivers down his spine. She was staring at him with those bright blue eyes again…
“Hey Nat…” Anna started out, her voice slow and steady.
“Do you like me?”
Suddenly, Nat’s heart started doing a marathon. The words that came out of her mouth made Nat fall out of his seat. A blush immediately rose to his face after being found out like that. “Wha-? How-” Nat said as he got up. He couldn’t get a sentence out. He was just dumbfounded by the turn of events. He didn’t expect her to take that approach in the slightest.
Anna started giggling. Her smile made Nat’s chest leap. “It was obvious. You’ve been staring at me for quite some time. Did you think I wouldn’t notice? I tried giving you a chance to confess too, and when I thought you would, you just run away.”
Anna got up off the bed. She did a twirl in her skirt that made her look beautiful. Frankly, Nat couldn’t stop staring at her. “So if you aren’t going to do it, then I will,” Anna said, as calm and collected as she always has been. Nat could have sworn the pink on her cheeks was a lie. But seeing her like this… he wasn’t so sure anymore. Was he sure this wasn’t all just a dream?
Nat watched Anna with wide eyes as Anna stood there, smiling at him. Her mouth started opening and words he couldn’t say come spilling out of her mouth…
Meanwhile, Emma noticed that Nat didn’t come back. She looked at the door, confused as to why Nat hasn’t returned when he’s been barging in so much.
“He’s been gone for a while…” Emma muttered.
“I win the bet, obviously,” Ray said, not looking up as he turned the page. Even without looking up, he could sense the pout on Emma’s face.
“How’d you know?!” Emma yelled at him, complaining, “What magic did you use?!”
Ray finally looked up and gave her a smirk. “I didn’t do anything,” Ray replied, resting his chin on his hand as he grinned at her. “I just made a bet that Anna could figure that boy out…”
“And it seems like I wasn’t wrong…”
"Thank you so much for doing this today... again. I promise I'll-" ”Stop. I told you I don't mind, and really, I don't." Namjoon cut me off from the other end of the line. With my phone by my ear, I raised my available hand and called an incoming taxi.
"It's just, I told you to wait until the-" "I swear, if you apologize one more time, I will storm to your new office and get you fired on your first day."
I chuckled and ran into the cab, feeling butterflies swirl in my stomach as the words Namjoon fluttered in my minde. "New office," I repeated.
"That's right," his smugness was audible, "Don’t worry everything’s--” there was a crashing sound. I heard a few muffled sounds, along with some shouts.
When the car started moving, it took a lot for me not to tell the driver to pull over so I could run back home.
“Namjoon?!” I called in panic.
There was a painfully prolonged silence.
A growl answered not soon enough, “Sorry, Kkul is being a handful today.” And as if protest, my dog’s barking pierced through.
I groaned in relief. I gave myself a moment and pulled my phone away as an airy chuckle left my lips. I sighed, “Namjoon, are you sure you can-” “Ya! I can handle anything, okay? There was just a small hiccup. Kkul snuck her way through a bag of treats, s’all. It’s been dealt with. Now go and get paid unless you wanna hear another sermon."
I smiled though he couldn’t see, "Okay, mama Joonie."
"Fighting!" he spoke lastly and hung up. With one final chuckle, I turned to the driver and gave a soft smile, “Pearl tower please."
I forgot how hectic traffic was but also how much easier it is to just exit your ride in front of the place you're going to.
Thankfully, I was much earlier this morning and arrived well before 8:15, my call time. Why there was an extra fifteen minutes was a mystery, but I guessed it was for allowance or something. Regardless, I got here when my watch read 7:30.
I went up to the twenty-fifth floor and was greeted by front desk.
I greeted back, "Good morning, I'm the new secretary. I was told to report here."
"Ah, secretary?"
I nodded.
"You're early. You’ve been assigned to someone who always arrives on the dot, so you can take it either way. Please make yourself comfortable while you wait. He'll be here in fourty."
I gave her a smile and did as she said.
Tumblr media
“Get your damn feet off the dashboard, Taehyung.” I growled at the man wearing a bright violet, satin shirt along with gold embroidered black pants. He silently pulled off his combat boots down, crossing his legs, adjusting his seat belt.
“You want one?” he then offered, as he pushed his golden tainted sunglasses up like a headband, before opening a pack of bubble gum.
“I don’t want my teeth to rot.” I quipped, over taking a moron in a Honda in front of me.
I honked just as I passed him, nodding my head in disapproval.
“Chillax, hyung.” he spoke, against the sound of chewing. “It’s not like you’ll be fired if you’re late.”
I gripped the steering wheel, “Do you want to walk there?” I then gave him a dirty look, “Because that’s how you walk there.”
At this point, the man raised his brows and looked away, not forgetting to blow a bubble as he did.
“I swear, you’re lucky you’re valuable, Taehyung, or else I would’ve thrown your body down a dump.”
He chuckled and gave a wide, boxy smile. “Ya! Jin hyung! Coming from you, that’s a real compliment.
The ding of the elevator alerted me. I putting the phone I was busy checking posts online on, I stood up and heard the receptionist get greeted. Just then, two men in stormed off in heavy discussion, completely ignoring me.
“Yaaa,” the woman across me whisper-yelled, “ka!”
And go I did.
I was quick to follow them, feeling slightly uneasy by the fact I was technically doing so unknown. Just then, one of the two men turned around. I assume he was mister Min, my superior, considering the fact he gave me a nod in regard.
I quickly nodded back, along with a polite smile. He turned back to the man next to him immediately after.
The two seemed wrapped up in quite the conversation and it was evident that they had high positions with all the confidence and single-mindedness that swirled around them. We quickly tread past office cubicles, and hallways, getting greeted by ever single person they passed, until eventually, we wound up in a large office, which I hesitantly entered in fear I shouldn't be too near them. I did enter though and found the room had huge floor to ceiling windows that showcased the busy streets down below.
"All I'm saying is that you should've sped up the process up." the other raised his hands and sat on the side of the desk whereas the one I assumed was Mr. Min, sat on the chair behind the desk.
"Listen, I was hired because of my wit in making tactical decisions, and yes, a delay will crucially push us into a do or die situation, but trust me, I did the right thing. No one will regret it."
The man chuckled, "You're that confident?"
Mr. Min propped his elbows on the surface before him. "I am."
He gave a deep chuckle, “Alright then. Make sure no one gets disappointed."
Suddenly, the entire focus in the room shifted, and all eyes were on me.
"Yes?" the one sat on the desk quirked a brow.
I gave a small smile, "Good morning, sir. I’m Mr. Min's new secretary."
Mr. Min cocked his head to the side, and the other gave a chuckle. He pat the back of the man on the chair, "Wow, Yoongi hyung, you're even lucky with secretaries."
"Have we met?" Mr. Min asked, disregarding the previous comment.
I turned to my feet and chuckled, "We have, actually. Yesterday, I... bumped into you and, well, your papers flew all over the place."
A small smirk rose on his lips. He proceeded to nod, seemingly recalling the incident, "Right, you were wearing a red dress and kept apologizing."
"Red dress, huh?" the other mumbled, side eyeing the other.
Mr. Min pat the man’s back, indicating he wanted him to move. The man did just so as Mr Min continued, "Didn’t you you fix some of my papers?"
I nodded slowly.
He gave a slightly bigger smile, "I was impressed how much you sorted out in such a small span of time. You saved me from a lot of unnecessary work. I was actually considering looking into you so I could get you as my secretary." Mr. Min turned to the man who had crossed his arms and smirked, "I guess you're right about my luck and secretaries."
"Ya, I'm always right."
"But not about the speeding up process."
He snickered but ignored that, then walked over to me. "Chairman Jung." he smiled softly, extending a hand. Now that he was up-close and center, I realize that he had a killer smile. I instinctively gave a firm handshake. His hand was large and calloused.
We pulled away.
"If he gets too unbearable, let me know and you can be my secretary instead." he winked and chuckled. Alright, now he’s biting up for than he can chew.
I forced out a chuckle upon hearing his words. "I'm sure there won't be any need, Chairman Jung. Mr. Min seems to be a person of great character."
Mr. Min held back a laugh, but I could see the satisfaction in his face as cleared his throat. He then beckoned me to him. I gave Chairman Jung a nod in regard and walked away.
"Don't let the door hit you on your way out.” Mr. Min called before
"I won't." he replied looking over his shoulder with a smirk, raising a hand before he left.
"Take a seat." Mr. Min motioned as he shuffled his papers. "I see that you're far more impressive than you already let on."
I gave a small smile, "I've learned a lot in the past twenty-four years."
"Speaking of which, I don't actually know if I should be impressed or scared by how many jobs you've done at your age." he said while taking in the pages of my resumé.
"I did a lot of travelling before, so I had to leave and get a lot of different jobs to sustain myself along the way."
He hummed, "You travel a lot it seems. I recognize this hotel," he pointed, "and this diner," he flipped the page, "are in different cities. And isn’t this one in Hong Kong? You only had those jobs for a month." he turned to me with serious eyes.
I breathed in. The sunlight from the window, was absorbed by his hair and made his skin glow. I couldn’t help but smile at him. I played it off though as I explained "I... went through a spontaneous faze. I'm ready to settle down and have a stable job now."
Mr. Min nodded. He then pushed the papers aside, and propped both elbows on the surface before him. "You don't have a haunting past, do you?"
I raised my brows and peeped out a 'what'.
"You don't have a criminal record or psychotic relatives?"
I opened my mouth and nodded harshly in disagreement, "No, sir. I don't."
He nodded and leaned back, "Good Let me give you your first task then."
Headcanon Scenarios No One Asked For
Okay, so as I promised earlier here they are. My part that wasn’t requested was ‘The Chocobros’ First Encounter With Their S/O or Seeing Them For The First Time’. I hope you guys like them :)
This post is kinda long so it’s going under a cut ‘3′
Noctis: At a popular diner in Lestallum, the boys decided to take a much-needed break and grab some food before they head off on the next part of their journey. A few minutes into their meal, the door to the establishment swings open, and from the entrance emerges a girl. She makes her way to the opposite side of the diner after telling the waiter that she’s waiting on a friend to arrive. As she moves across the diner, Noctis catches a glimpse of her out of the corner of his eye. For a brief second, he can already feel his throat dry out and his heart start to gradually quicken its pace as he turns his head in the direction she had gone to get a better view of the angel that had graced his gaze.    "Go say hi,“ Prompto laughs at the Prince’s almost high schoolesque antics.    "Say hi to who?” Noct replies, apparently oblivious to even his own actions.    "The girl you were just staring at,“ Prompto says, filling in his clueless friend. Though to his slight embarrassment, Noctis denies having done such a thing and claimed to just be looking around. The guys finish indulging themselves in delicious food, carrying on with light conversation until Noctis finds his eyes wandering over to the girl on the other side of the diner again.    "Why don’t we invite her over here, if you don’t wish to go say hi,” Ignis suggests in a playful manner. Flustered at just imagining the scenario, Noct quickly stands up. “What, no. We have a job to do anyway, and it’s getting late. We should probably head out now.” The other three follow the prince out to the Regalia but stop about half way.    "This could be the first and last time you see this girl. Don’t you want to get to know her at all? Just go introduce yourself, it’s not like you’ll die from meeting new people,“ Gladio huffs trying to encourage the young prince to stop chickening out.    "He is right you know. If we leave right now, you’ll have to spend the rest of your days wondering ‘what if’,” Ignis chimes in, hoping that his advice would help his friend. Noctis thinks it over, having a war rage in his mind. Should he go and talk to her? What if she doesn’t want to talk to him? The battle of 'should I? or should I not?’ continues, as his heart races already knowing which option his brain is about to settle on. He nods at the guys, takes a deep breath and heads back into the diner. Once inside, he can feel the temperature rising to almost unbearable levels. Could no one else feel it? He slowly makes his way to the opposite end of the diner, his eyes locked on the destination. With every agonizing step, it seems like he’s only getting further away than when he started. The length of the diner seems to double in size making it seem like he’ll never get there. He can feel his hands start to get clammy just looking at the smile on her face as she chats with a friend. His nerves start to soothe for a brief moment as he almost reaches the table, but the feeling quickly shatters when he bumps into an unseen waitress, knocking over the cups of water she had been carrying. A loud clatter can be heard in most parts of the establishment and everyone in the immediate vicinity turns their heads to see the commotion.    "I’m so sorry. Let me get a mop, I’ll help clean up,“ Noctis barely manages to speak as his face grows a light shade of red. His mind goes blank from embarrassment as he goes to fetch said mop and slips on the water that had just been spilled. ’This can’t be happening,’ he silently thinks to himself. Sitting up, checking for any cuts or bruises, many customers and a few nearby employees are questioning if he’s okay or if he’s hurt in any way. Lost in his own rapid thoughts, he tunes out everyone around, taking one last look at the girl he was supposed to talk to find her looking back at him with a worried expression on her face. ’It’s obvious she must have seen’ is his last clear thought before deciding he is unable to remain in there another second. He assures the surrounding crowd that he’s fine and quickly makes an exit.    "So, how’d it… why is your shirt wet?” Gladio asks, smile fading to concern.    "I don’t want to talk about it.“
Prompto: After stocking up on supplies the boys head into  Mother of Pearl, chatting randomly, going to recieve their reward for the previous job. As Noct talks to the chef, letting her know that the job was complete, Prompto stretches and glances around the room. Scanning the familiar surroundings of the resort, his eyes land on something not so familiar. Or rather, someone. His eyes refused to look away, lighting up a bit in the process. She was beautiful, to say the least. His attention was solely on her, taking in her every feature. The style and color of her hair, what she was wearing, the grace in her every movement. It was all so captivating, making his heart skip a beat every now and again. He wanted to know her. What was her name? What’s her favorite color? Where did she come from? Where is she heading to? Who’s hand was waving in front of his face? Wait, a hand in front of his face? Coming out of his daze he realized it was only Noct.    "Hello, Prompto?”    "Is anyone home? Prompto Argentum,“ Noctis called to his blonde haired friend. Shaking his head to bring himself back to reality, Prompto turned his head towards the guys with a huge grin on his face and the smallest of blushes dusting his cheeks.    "There’s another job for us to do, but I was wondering if you wanted to grab a bite to eat first, but you were zoning out… kinda unlike you…” Noct questioned curiously.    "I think it was more of staring at someone, rather than zoning out,“ Gladio replied smirking and nodding his head towards the girl in a teasing manner. Instantly, Prompto’s face was flushed at having been caught staring at a complete stranger, but he just couldn’t help himself.    "What were you thinking about; I hope it was PG-13,” Gladio continued to tease the younger boy.    "We could just invite her to join us for lunch if it makes you happy,“ Ignis added. Prompto dismissed their joking, laughing a bit himself as they all decided to rest and have a meal before heading out again. As they left the resort, Prompto took one last glance at the angel he saw earlier just so he wouldn’t forget her breath-taking aura and proceeded to leave the premises. Alas, while Prompto was so busy taking in her every feature to forever keep within his memory, the poor boy didn’t even realize that she eventually caught his gaze was staring back at him with a small smile adorning her lips.
Gladio:  Heading to the place he’s considered a frequent visitor at, Gladio thinks over his possible new ink design. He was considering yet another tattoo and wanted to see what the artist could do about bringing the image he had in his head to life. When he stepped into the parlor, his go-to guy was already with another customer; a very nervous looking girl for that matter. Gladio greeted the man with the needle and sat awaiting his for the girl to be finished.    "Are you ready to start?” he can hear the man say, though there’s no reply.    "Okay… I’ll be back in about five minutes. Please try to relax a bit in the meantime,“ the tattoo artist breathes out in slight frustration, excusing himself to the front of the store. Gladio greets the man he hasn’t seen in a while, a smile growing on the guy’s face.    "Back again? What can I do for you this time around,” he greets Gladio.    "You make it seem like I’m here every week,“ Gladio laughs. "But since you asked, I do have an idea for a new tattoo. Think you can make it happen, Jax?”    "Of course I can; you’re talking to a pro here,“ Jax rebutted. "Though, it’ll be quite the wait. There’s a stubborn client in the chair, been so for the past half hour or so because she’s too tense,” he heaved a sigh of exhaustion. He went back to ask the woman if she was ready to finally to start, and as he could’ve guessed, she was not.    "Listen, maybe a tattoo just isn’t for you. If you’re too tense, I can’t start or you risk passing out. We can try again another time,“ he suggested to the woman, but she insisted it had to be today as she started to sob a bit, tears stinging her eyes. Gladio came into the back, having heard the noise in the other room to find a girl on the verge of tears. He was taken aback a bit. He was drawn in at just a mere glance of her flushed face. But what was she doing in a tattoo parlor if she couldn’t even get the desired ink? He pulled up a stool on the opposite side of the artist’s and gently placed a hand on her shoulder. She jerked a bit. Who was this stranger? Though his face was friendly and welcoming as ever. Gladio was the first to speak.    "Hey, is it your first tattoo?” he asked in a sweet soothing voice. The girl nodded in response, making Gladio chuckle lightly. “I remember the first time I was in here; I’m not gonna lie it did hurt but it was worth the little bit of pain,” he showed her the entirety of his tattoo that took multiple sessions to complete. Her sobbing soon came to halt as she marveled the tattoo he had shown her.    "You know, it usually helps to have another person with you when getting your first tattoo, if you’d like, I’ll stay here and talk to you, so at least you’ll have something else to focus on. And if it starts to hurt too much, you can squeeze my hand,“ Gladio offered, to which the girl hesitantly accepted. As the small tattoo was being done, Gladio and the girl started talking a bit more and the more she spoke to him, the more he could feel his heart flutter. He didn’t want her to stop; her voice was soft and sweet, and her hand in his just felt right. He knew with the size of the tattoo she had chosen, that this dream-like state would end all too soon.
Ignis: Having woken up earlier than usual to get a head start on the long drive that awaited them, Ignis made it a point to stop at the nearest coffee shop to wake up his senses. The guys sat at a booth a little more than half asleep, as they waited for Ignis to return with his caffeinated beverage. The wait for the coffee seemed to drag on, so much so the other three were practically asleep in the booth they sat in. After about a minute, the barista set down a large caramel macchiato with an extra shot of espresso. As Ignis reached for the drink, so did someone else: a girl that looked more tired than he was.    "Oh, I guess we ordered the same thing. I’ll wait for the next one. You look like you have somewhere to be,”“ she spoke groggily. Feeling bad for the small woman, he insisted that he would wait and she should take the one that’s already finished. She was hesitant at first, but slowly grabbed the coffee.    "I’m sorry for making you wait,” she gave him an apologetic look. “I’ll wait with you if you’d like,” she spoke sheepishly.    "Well,  thanks. You’re up pretty early, though,“ he curiously stated.    "Yeah, I pulled a bit of an all-nighter trying to finish my research paper. I go to the university around here and was studying the effects of caffeine on the body,” she breathed out taking a sip of her coffee. Ignis nodded in admiration. The two continued on with light conversation, Ignis getting to know a little more about her. When his drink was ready they still continued on a bit longer, engaging further in the conversation. He found her quite interesting, to say the least; she didn’t even like coffee at the start of her project and yet she’s now grown accustomed to this particular drink. ’What made her choose the topic to begin with?’ he wondered. He questioned her about her findings, and became enamored with the way her mind worked.    "Your eyes seem to be dilated. I guess the caffeine is kicking in,“ she giggled at the sight. Ignis’ face grew a light blush, not too noticeable visually but he could still feel its presence.    "Well I have class soon, so I have to go. It was really nice talking with you,” she smiled at him and waved goodbye as she turned to leave. Ignis could feel his heart sink as he watched her leave. He took one last sip of his coffee and threw away the now empty cup. Before waking the guys to head back out, he noticed that the girl had left behind a notebook on the bench where she sat. He picked it up with a smile, hoping that it would lead to another chance of seeing her again.
I hope you guys like these, I’m sorry they took awhile~ :)
Vale~!
