playing my au save and im sorry to say it but lori would probably unfaithful however it would only be with one person and it would be marco. i dont think it would be physical (because i think maybe marco would be respectful enough) but more emotional. lori still feels she owes something to him but she is unsure what exactly. after she got married to andy marco had kept his distance because lori had asked but had still kept tabs on her to make sure was okay and that she was safe. obviously after she got pregnant lori gave up her job and after julie is born she feels restless more so after she finds out she’s pregnant with dawn so she goes back to old habits and starts visiting the track again mostly to bet but honestly she just hoped that marco would be there. she just wanted to see him not so much talk to him and she thought she was out of sight but he knew she was there and after months of them pretending either of them saw the other marco finally goes over to her to confront and that’s how it all started basically

Fair disclosure, I have not written much of anything in 5+ years and am now basically petrified of trying to get back into it (I know this is irrational, I'm just my own worst critic despite being very aware of how supportive the Steddie fandom is towards its creators).

That all being said, I have created two Google docs (one for each fandom/respective ship) that is a list of ideas I've thought of that I would write if I ever gathered the courage. Either that, or I'd give the idea to someone I think could handle it when they're up for it (such as @steddieas-shegoes, who is amazing and creative and so giving to the Steddie fandom in particular). The other main issue with my current writer status is that a lot of these are just summaries, no titles available... so I'll try my best to give them very succinct synopitles (name patent pending, lol).

Commentary:

I, like Patchy, do not have a WIP folder. I have a writing folder with subfolders and projects in varying states of completion and abandonment, divided by category: novel, short story, fanfiction, etc. Some are completed drafts pending revision and/or further beta reading; I'll label these with (Revise). Otherwise, you can assume I haven't completed the first draft. I'll label my current focus WIP with (Active), too. If not labelled Active or Revise, it's sitting in my computer collecting dust, and I may or may not ever get back to it.

I'm not listing stuff I consider complete and polished, 'cause that's not a WIP. I'm also not listing the pieces of scrap I never intended to share, nor duplicates, e.g. copies of the file with beta reader commentary. Some of what I do list (novels, particularly) are folder names, not filenames. Conversely, most of my fanfics are gathered in one massive Scrivener project, with copies of stories exported for beta readers. (Read: Patchy. I usually end up yeeting my fanfic drafts at Patchy, if anyone. Cx) I have a similar massive Scrivener project for my short stories. I'm listing subsections of those two .scriv projects that correspond to individual stories.

It might have been odd of him to ask, out of character in comparison to how they had been in the past, but it was something that had bothered him since that day at Hogsmeade. "Why is it you even like me?" Waver questioned abruptly, his inquiry innocent and curious than accusatory. For years, he had assumed Ramses thought the opposite of that. Everything felt so different. "I'm not... That's just, I don't know. I - I... I'm not anything special."

     THAT QUESTION WAS ONE he had expected to be asked eventually. It was just that he had not expected it out of the blue like this without even a single warning. As if his thoughts had come to a screeching halt, all he could do was stare at Waver, the other’s words akin to a language he needed to translate before he offered a reply. There were a great deal of reasons for him liking Waver — so many that if he was allowed to run rampant with how he felt in written word, it would be two pages worth of information and then some. ❝Do not say that,❞ he mumbled, color already beginning to blossom upon his cheeks as he glanced off to the side with rare timidity. It was embarrassing that one who held such great confidence like himself could even feel something close to that particular feeling. Normally it was the other party that felt this way.

     Not him.

     ❝I cannot understand how you do not see your own appeal.❞ Waver was everything that he deemed attractive, though at the time, back THEN, he had tried to translate that into dislike. It was better than acknowledging his own feelings when they began to shift and change into something else, and towards someone he thought was beneath him at that. ❝You…❞ He groaned, running his hand down his cheek as he rubbed at the skin in a poor attempt at eliminating the heed that lingered. ❝Your ambition is what caught my eye. No matter what obstacle got in your way, myself included, you continued to move forward. It was because you had to, I know, but even still…it impressed me. You had a goal in mind and no one would get in the way of it. So, no matter what happened, no matter how much you might have struggled, you would push yourself up and keep going.❞

     Speaking all this to another felt so…awkward, even more so when he had never uttered a word in regards to how he felt about Waver to anyone. To everyone who saw him, he loathed the other. For all he knew, others might have assumed that he had lost interest in bothering the Ravenclaw so that he could instead, just focus on his grades and future. ❝You becoming a Prefect and then Head Boy suits you. It could be seen as a power grab to some students, though to me, I knew that was not the case. You genuinely care about the well-being of your fellows. Then that intellect of yours too…❞ And those green eyes, and that beautiful hair, and — 

     He would not mention that.

    ❝Anyway, that’s why.❞

“Y/N..” his voice came out unsure, I mean his face gave it all so now you’re very nervous.

“Hoseok, I’m serious okay?” you try to sound determined though your confidence is slowly dissipating.

With his silence, you can tell he’s been trying to be careful with his words, maybe to try not to hurt you. God if he rejects you-

“I don’t know what to say, uhm..thanks?” if this is in another situation you would’ve thought how adorable he is scratching the back of his head.

Hoseok doesn’t know how to respond to you. He knows you’re usually upfront in most things but he didn’t expect this from you. He’s literally clueless on what to say but you’re his best friend so he trusts you. 

What the hell got into you to think that a confession would be so simple. Well, you just decided to break the usual “I’ve been in love with my best friend for so long but I don’t want to ruin our friendship” thing. Not that there’s wrong with that, it’s very hard for some people to do so.

So here you are, just finished confessing your feelings to your best friend for God knows how long and for the first time you’re nervous around him.

“Was I supposed to say ‘you’re welcome’?” you huffed, trying to act dismissive. “So what’s your answer? Again I told you I wasn’t joking, I like you Hoseok”. He gulped, you only use his real name when you’re very serious but he literally thought you were trying to prank him earlier or something.

“Uhm, can you like give me some time?” he looks at you with hopeful eyes. 

Fuck. You’re making him uncomfortable. Fuck.

“Shit, Hobi I’m sorry I didn’t mean to-” he cuts you off before you can even continue.

“No, no, it’s not that.. It’s just-” he paused and breathed deeply, gathering his thoughts.

“I totally understand if-” you’re already panicking given that you're now speaking faster than usual.

“I’m not really sure how to be in a relationship, there.” He blurted, letting out a deep sigh that made you pause. You didn’t expect he would be just honest about the real reason at the moment so you smiled at him.

“It’s okay Hobi, we can take it slow and-” you’re already saying too much but who cares, it’s not like he rejected you so there must be something, right?

“Look, um I can’t give you a real answer yet but I trust you so I want us to give a chance ‘kay?” his tone shifting softly while shuffling your hair, walking away after.

You pouted but nodded anyways. Hoseok’s glad that he got out of the conversation smoothly, at least now he’s relieved since you’re back to calling him “Hobi”.

Honestly, he’s happy knowing about your feelings for him. Smiling brightly at the night sky outside in the backyard of your shared home, thinking how he made his ever-confident best friend nervous just for a confession.

A ding from his phone pulled him out from his reverie, 

 [Unknown: We need to talk. Answer me or else she’ll know ;)]

Hoseok already knows who this is, given that he had blocked her numbers for a while now. He just didn’t expect that she’ll go this far, even going after you now. He just hopes this would be like the other threats that he was able to handle.

He couldn't move from where he’s standing, staring at his phone in shock. This couldn't be happening, despite his confusion earlier you actually made his day better (as usual) but he doesn't know if he will be for yours after this anymore.

Patton lives in a world where more than half of the population have powers. Most powers are small and tied to talent. That could be having the power of being extremely good at a certain sport, being able to talk and understand every language, or always making food taste excellent. Some abilities are more flashy, though. Those are powers such as flight, invisibility, claws, or speed. Though rare, it is possible to have more than one power. Some people have up to three different abilities. Those people are seen as the luckiest people alive.

All the history books call the powers a blessing. However, Patton feels like his power is a curse. It has brought him nothing but harm.

Patton was sat on a bench with his knees drawn up to his chest. he was trying to drown out all the voices. They were just so loud, and there were so many of them.

‘One leaf, two leaves, three leaves, four. Crunchy crunchy crunch’ a small child thought while stepping on the colorful leaves that had started to fall from the trees. Their mom walked patiently, with a smile on her face, beside her child. Patton thought back to when he was the one stepping on leaves and laughing every time he heard the crunch. 

That was a long time ago. He wasn’t sure that he could see that as a positive memory, though.

‘Okay, so I have to buy milk, bread, eggs-’ a young man listed off in his head. He was most likely on his way to the grocery store, which reminded Patton that he needed to go to the store too. But the store meant being surrounded by even more people. That meant even more noise, and he wasn’t feeling up to that.

‘Oh, I hope I don’t get fired. I really hope I don’t get fired’ a young woman running at the speed of light thought. She was probably late for work. Patton hoped it would all turn out okay for the woman. He was pulled out of his thoughts by yet another voice.

‘Why is he sitting like that? There must be something wrong with him. What a weirdo’ a man thought as he passed by. Patton tried not to let it bother him. But no matter how much he tried, he never succeeded in ignoring those kinds of thoughts. They would always bother him.

‘Ugh, those pesky teens. They never look up from their phones’ an old man thought. He was glaring at a young teen who had a phone in their hand.

Patton knew that the teen wasn’t trying to be rude. In fact, they were thinking that exact thing. That it probably made them seem impolite. But they needed the phone to cope with social anxiety. Patton could hear all their anxious thoughts.

There were so many thoughts. He could hear them all around him. Every thought of every person in the park was in his head.

Patton knew too much. He knew what everyone was thinking.

He knew that the child on the playground thought that maybe he could manage to do a loop if he swung his feet fast enough.

He knew that the girl sitting up against a tree with headphones on was experiencing her first heartbreak. The thoughts of memories and song lyrics mixing together.

He knew that the woman on the other side of the park was trying to figure out if she should divorce her partner.

He could hear all their thoughts. Why did he choose to go to the park today when it was filled with so many people? Oh, yeah, he had thought it would be good for him to step outside for once. He hadn’t left his apartment in weeks. Now he remembered why that was. The noise was so loud! He couldn’t hear his own thoughts! Why hadn’t he just stayed at home? Home was safe. Home was good. Home was-

His breathing was getting faster.

“Hey man, you okay?” he heard from someone.

Another thought? Wait, no, that wasn’t a thought. Someone was speaking to him and having only one voice to focus on calmed Patton down a bit.

He looked up and saw a young man, around his age, with beautiful green eyes and dark, almost black hair with purple tips. The stranger looked at Patton with concern in his eyes and a nervous but charming smile on his lips.

He was absolutely stunning. 

Patton stared at him for a few seconds before he remembered that he hadn’t answered the question.

“Oh, yeah, I’m fine,” he said hastily, looking at everything but the man in front of him.

“Don’t lie to me” the stranger said softly, hesitantly sitting down next to him. “I’m an empath. I can feel that you’re not okay. And lying about feelings is something I’m a bit familiar with as well”

Patton felt himself freeze. Did this person really care enough about him to take time out of his, probably busy, life to make sure he was okay? An indescribable feeling filled his chest. 

It wouldn’t hurt to talk about it for once, right? And it wasn’t like he was going to see this stranger again.

“It’s just, um,  the voices. They’re so incredibly loud,” he stuttered out.

The person stiffened beside him. “Wait, the voices?”

“Oh, no, not like that. It’s people’s thoughts. I, um, I have the ability to hear other people’s thoughts,” he said nervously.

“Oh, you’re blessed with powers too?”

Patton scoffed, and the stranger looked confused at him, waiting for him to elaborate. Patton regretted his reaction. But he owed the man beside him an explanation. 

“I wouldn’t say blessed. More like cursed” 

Patton hoped he hadn’t just offended the kind stranger. For some reason, he didn’t want the stranger to go.

“Why is that?” the young man said, looking at him curiously.

Patton felt a sigh of relief force it’s way up his throat. He didn’t know what it was, but he felt safe with this stranger. He felt like he could trust him. Maybe the man could understand it all? Patton could see in the stranger’s eyes that he wanted to listen, he wanted to help.

So he took the leap and told the man his life story. How he ended up all alone, hugging his knees, on a bench.

Story You Were Nervous to Post: All of them? Um, I'd say If There is Light. I knew writing it there wouldn't be a huge audience for it, because well, I killed Betty Cooper in the first letter. So, obvious warnings of MCD if you want to read it. It has been the only thing thus far to make me cry while writing it. That's a lie, but the other one no longer exists in the world, so I'm sticking with it.

How Do You Pick Your Titles: I'd like to say I'm just super clever, but I have never been any good at titles. Sometimes they just come to me, or sometimes it's a line from the story, or a song title that inspired it. Or sometimes I ask for help from the other amazing creators in the fandom. 

How Many of Your Stories are complete: I only have one pending WIP right now. My collab with @itsmarscosta​ What Once Was Lost (Will Soon be Found)

Do You Outline: I try to. Really, I do. But half the time I forget what I outline, or forget that I have one and the story takes me in a completely different direction. Or, I'll plot bullet points to incorporate. Soundboarding is my jam, though. And with that, I'll go back into my chats and look at what I've said and run with that.

Do You Accept Prompts: I do. I have a few pending right now. I didn't forget you guys, I swear. But yea, I accept prompts for drabbles and aesthetics. 

In-Progress: I have a soulmate AU in the works that I've been working on. No telling when that will be done, though. I'm also hoping life will soon allow Alix and I to start on the ‘a serial connection’ sequel (finally!)

2016 Writing Review

I was tagged by @trulycertain​ to ramble a lot about my writing if I feel like it, and let’s be honest, I’ll pretty much always feel like it.

Unintended Consequences, a long-standing WIP

Silences, pending beta confirmation that it really is finally finished

A handful of fairy tales, some orific and some fanfic

Scattered random drabbles and promptfics

Total word count According to my GYWO spreadsheet: 210,283. 

Of that, about 90k was orific, and about 1200 textbook writing. Leaving a bit over 100k of fanfic, which seems higher than I expected, but I will trust my spreadsheet. (Where would we be if we couldn’t trust our spreadsheets?) 

Fandoms written in Dragon Age and Mass Effect, no surprise. 

But also a big shift towards original fiction this year, as well as a lot of inspiration from fairy tales. 

Looking back, did you expect to write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected? I pledged a 200k goal for GYWO, so I pretty much hit that exactly. The only thing that surprises me is how little of that is work on the textbook. 

What’s your own favorite story of the year? Favorite? Uh... I think I’ll go with Elfblood, my NaNo project. It’s an original fantasy novel and I’m so happy with the type of story and characters. 

Did you take any writing risks this year? More original fiction, and maybe more writing of things that were personal to me (not all of which got posted, so perhaps not that big a risk). Overall, I’m trying to write more of what I want to instead of what I think I’m supposed to. 

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year?

Can we call it orific rather than profic? That feels like less pressure. Also, I’m including the textbook as a writing goal even though it’s decidedly not fiction. 

Another 200k GYWO pledge

Finish elfblood (I promised myself a complete novel by the end of sabbatical)

Revise my textbook into a form useful beyond just my class (I promised the university I would do this on sabbatical)

Revise the mermaid project now that I’ve gotten far enough into it to know what it needs

Finish some lingering WIP fics (Void is at the top of this list, and fingers crossed, it may finally be done)

Best story of the year? If we limit this to something finished, um... I’m really happy with the writing in my pair of original mermaid fairy tales, and with Lindworm, for that matter. I think I’ve had success in recapturing the fairy tale narrator voice I used to enjoy writing in, and I’m pleased with that. 

Most popular story of the year? KaMD, pretty much hands down. It benefits from being linked to @cherieofthedragons‘s excellent Teagan’s Chance, so I tend to get a coattail effect of readers migrating over from that. 

Beyond that, random drabbles with Alistair angst are generally my most popular tumblr posts. 

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: I suppose I might have liked Unintended Consequences to get some reaction for finally being finished, but that’s mostly because of how hard it was to write, not because the final sections particularly warranted it. (No one should feel obligated to read it because I said this. It’s dubcon and character death, and I get why people don’t want to read it.) 

Most fun story to write: Elfblood. There’s a rush of writing at NaNo pace, and combining that with letting myself run with a fantasy story and heroes I love... it’s exhilirating. 

Story with the single sexiest moment: No. I spent over half of 2016 in therapy to accept that I am allowed to not like sex, and I’ve deliberately stepped away from feeling like I have to write it to be accepted in fandom. 

The only sex scene I wrote in 2016 was at the end of Unintended Consequences, and the sex in that fic is very deliberately not sexy; it’s about trauma and grief. 

The sexiest moments from my writing in 2016 are probably Void chapter 9 and the infidelity scene early in Silences, but both of those were sitting in draft form for a very long time and only underwent revision in 2016. 

Most sweet story: KaMD or Rose-Garden, I suspect. They’re both stories of awkward courtship and emotional discovery. 

“Holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you!” story: Is that a thing? I think people expect awful from me; it’s kind of what I do. 

That said, I think the story that got me the most outrage in the past year would be this short Sacrifices AU. 

Correction, I’ve remembered Just Swim Down, which was definitely worse. 

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Rose-Garden or Silences, I think. Stories where the characters take over, throw my script out the window, and tell me what they need to say and do. (Or dig their heels in and refuse to do anything.) 

Most unintentionally telling story: Since this says unintentionally, the answer is Silences. I had no idea why I was really writing that story, although it was apparently obvious to some other people who had the grace not to laugh at me when I finally worked it out. 

Hardest story to write: Unintended Consequences or Void, for very different reasons. Also possibly Silences, as referenced in the previous answer. 

Biggest disappointment: One of my (non-fanfic) fairy tales that just won’t quite shape up into what I know it could be. 

The mermaid project hit a massive reef and needs to go back to the drawing board in a lot of ways. 

Biggest surprise:

The support I get for little things I don’t think anyone but me will care about. This especially includes the fact that there have been several people interested in my original writing. Thank you all.
