I am realizing that I somehow never reblogged this. This art haunted me for months and put a whole world in my head. How did I write a 16k fic inspired by it but not reblog it? That must be remedied.
Etho as a Grey Warden from Dragon Age

Look at this!
Dalish Warden Gem is absolutely amazing, and I am so delighted with the custom vallaslin. When @its-a-scared-rabbit asked what design I pictured her with and I couldn't decide between two, he had the brilliant idea to merge them, and it turned out fantastic.
Thanks again for inspiring this fic, and I'm really honored that you enjoyed it enough to want to draw this version of Gem.
After Etho as a Grey Warden, its Gems turn to be a Dragon Age character. This time based on a lovley Fic by @aphreal42, that places the cast of the Life-Series in the world of Thedas.
You can read it here! I highly recommend it :D

All 5 chapters are up now, so you can check out the whole thing if you're interested. I got impatient and decided to finish posting it rather than spread them out more. I've never been very good at dragging out posting on a schedule; once something is done and ready to post, I want it out there for people to read!
My first fic in a new fandom (Life Series), drawing on my experince writing Dragon Age fic ages ago, written for the @mcytpromptexchange, and inspired by amazing art from @its-a-scared-rabbit.
Gem was sent by her Keeper to join the Grey Wardens and put her newly-learned Arcane Warrior skills to productive use. The Warden group she found may not be the most orthodox, but they gladly take her in, and Cleo shares stories about how the rest of them came to be Wardens. As per might be expected, Gem's route of volunteering is highly unusual; she quickly discovers that most of her new colleagues entered this lifestyle under significant duress.
This fic incorporates the following prompts: [Character A] finds [Character B] injured and alone. (Chapter 2) Character/Characters experiencing mourning/grief for another. (Chapter 5) A zombie (skulk?) apocalypse au where A gets bitten and B has to deal with it (frantically trying to make a cure, mercy killing, etc.) (Chapters 2 and 5, assuming Darkspawn taint qualifies.)
My initial inspiration to do a Grey Warden AU for Life Series characters came from this amazing art of Etho as a Grey Warden.
The total fic is just over 16k. It's completely written and beta read, and I plan to post chapters over the next few days.

Sequoia Brussels sprouts are delicious but it's pretty hard to finish one.
Bassica [Explained]
Transcript Under the Cut
[Cueball, Megan and another Cueball are standing in front of a Giant Sequoia] Cueball: Did you know the Mighty Redwood is actually the same species as broccoli and kale? It's just a different cultivar. Another Cueball: Wow! [Caption below the panel] Every year or two, botanists add another plant to Brassica oleracea and see if anyone calls them on it.

@cherieofthedragons tagged me to try out this very sweet positivity quiz: What are your best qualities? and share my results. (In order to avoid undermining the point of the exercise, I’m posting results without comment.)
you're charming, generous and wise.
you always seem to know what to say. people admire the ease with which you seem to navigate your life. maybe a few jealous ones even despise you for it. but your strength is your independency. whether the entire world is falling at your feet or not, you don't let your ability to learn and move forward be affected by them. it's admirable how much wisdom you give away for free, how nice and charming you remain even if others refuse to treat you the same and how you navigate life. i hope you know how much you're looked up to. and i also hope that you have someone to lean onto at times. however strong you might be, you weren't made to carry the weight of it all on your own.

Ko-fi commissions: Help me save up to build a PC!
So, my laptop, while hopefully not bricked, is touch-and-go right now. And I’m not going to be able to use it for Photoshop (and let’s not even talk about gaming). I’m currently borrowing Mum’s tiny netbook and Autodesk Sketchbook… and making a cup of tea and reading a few pages of a book every time I need to do a fill layer. I’ve got a lot of the budget together, but every little helps, and if you’d like a reasonably-priced portrait, now’s your chance.
So if you’d like a portrait done, hit me up at http://kofi.com/trulycertain, and send a message with what you’d like.
One ko-fi (£3) = Simple linework, like first example
Two ko-fis (£6) = Hatching and detail, like second example
Three ko-fis (£9) = Minor background rendering, detail, soft charcoal stuff
