Almost exactly like that.

I've talked about it in my spiders gwen tag, but Gwen Stacy dies in my 'verse when Norman Osborn throws her into a vat of ravenously hungry radioactive spiders.

Eventually she becomes the vigilante/local cryptid Ghost Spider (she is the mask more literally than most; without the costume she can't really hold humanoid form) but the part that I think about most is the bit leading up to that "eventually".

Much has been written about the dehumanizing nature of "fridging" and post-death character flattening, and Spiders Gwen has a rare chance to understand the horror of her situation. She can feel how inhuman she is. This isn't a resurrection. Gwen Stacy the body, the potential future, the possessions and achievements, they're gone for good. All she has left is the memories and how much of Gwen's anger she still feels, and she's trying to reconstruct some sense of self with those things.

But she reconstituted so late that the funeral is over, and people have done all the revenge "for" her, and the stories people are telling about her already don't sound like the person she remembers being. People talk about her death like it belongs to them, not her. MJ and Peter have started dating already. Gwen lives in her old friends' walls for a while, just stewing in it. It's not like she could claim back any of it even if she could speak.

And like, philosophically, you can't prove she's "really" Gwen, though she's stubborn enough to refuse to admit she ever thinks about that. God, what can you even do? It's enough to make a hivemind start attacking people. Or at least get into really angry punk rock.

Miu had been infatuated with weddings since she went to her first as a kid. Even though she didn’t know when she would get married, she wanted to help make it the best day for everyone else.

It took a lot of organization on her end, and a lot of communication between the wedding party and the individual venders. She yelled a lot, which helped get some of her anger out.

She did most of her research and planning during class time, since she only took one job at a time and needed to focus on making it the most perfect day ever for each couple.

When the day finally came, she was always ready to go, up early and making sure everything was in place just like the happy couple wanted. Everything always went off without a hitch.

And you know what? She was really proud of every single one. She put a lot of work into each wedding, and was always satisfied with the outcome (and the gorgeous pictures).

You understand some of the risks of both, but not too deeply it seems. If you did, you'd have made this decision already. It's better to appease the Commission. You can't pull the wool over their eyes as you can attempt with the others.

Making backup plans is still a good bet, but yes, take the chance the Commission gives you.

I do get the risks. I just can't tell whether or not things would work out well enough. Plus who am I to decide shit that has those risks? But at the same time it's best to just get things over with, do things myself, only involve others if and when needed or necessary

I mean I might be able to gaslight my way through the ranks if I try, you never know 👀

at the start of the game karlach and astarion are absolutely fucking reeling from being suddenly freed and are in a state of manic joy that would probably seem alien to them like a week ago, while gale has been locked in his depression tower for so long he's almost completely forgotten how to talk to people. shadowheart has not a single fucking clue whats going on because shar keeps slurping up her memories and lae'zel is literally in the midst of her ultimate nightmare scenario and trapped on an alien planet with a bunch of jackasses who have no idea whats happening. so almost everyone has experienced a situational personality shift and isn't quite the person they were a year before you met them. EXCEPT Wyll. Who is just like "this isnt even the weirdest thing thats happened to me this month." my man got scooped up, tadpoled, and slammed back and said "oh well, not gonna ruin my day" and went about his business teaching self defense to children and slaying evil beasts. He didn't even seem confused he literally did not give a shit. no urgency. He's like "I'll put that in my day planner but is gonna have to wait until after i hunt down this demon." When you recruit him there is no sense of "oh man we really gotta help each other because we have the same problem" he just would have said yes because you asked and he's wyll. Or because you told him he could kill mindflayers. He'd be like "sick" and done, no questions asked. Just another Tuesday for the blade.

Backstory: The Ki family is a BIG DEAL in South Korea, owning one of the most popular chain of fine dining establishments, Taste of Life. Bong-Cha’s father invented the restaurant after he graduated high school, crafting beautiful recipe after recipe, and slowly but surely making his way to the top. Quite the underdog story. This naturally made him cutthroat in his business approach, and he wanted his darling Bong-Cha to be as agressive as he was. To put it bluntly, she wasn’t. She was too kind and caring for her own good. But, due to an unnamed event, they got her an acceptance letter to Hope’s Peak as a treat.
