"Blessed Autumn" Ukraine icon

Born in 1987 in Lviv, Ukraine. Uliana Krekhovets is an artist, icon painter, designer, art manager, coordinator of art projects of the development department of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU), teacher of the Icon Painting School “Radruzh” of the UCU. She graduated from the Lviv National Academy of Arts with a degree in “Design” (2011) and the “Radruzh” Icon Painting School at the Ukrainian Catholic University (2013).

Her most recent exhibitio in Ukrainen was titled (in English) "Be Blessed." Her icons are spectacular, and I'm featuring a selection from this exhibition in a series of blog posts.

Uliana told me, “Blessed Autumn” is the season in which we live and fight in Ukraine.

The Holy Spirit in the form of a large dove is on the left - a prayer for peace.

There's plenty of blue and yellow, the colors of the Ukraine flag.

In Uliana's works, she uses natural wood, levkas, yolk tempera, organic and mineral pigments, as well as gilding and silvering techniques. By combining these traditional materials with modern ones, she imitates and at the same time interprets the synthesis of ancient and modern Ukrainian iconography. A special place in her work is dedicated to the Ukrainian folk icon on glass, which is for the artist an object of research, a means of continuing the tradition and a field for her own interpretation. A Prayer for Ukraine

Holy God, We hold before you all who live close to war and conflict; and all who live close to the threat of war andviolence. We remember especially at this time, people in Ukraine and Russia. We pray for nonviolent and peaceful resolutions of conflict. Give us to us all hearts of hospitality and sanctuary, forgive us all our hostility and hatred. Bring all people to the humanity you give us, and to the reconciliation and healing for which you give your life. Strengthen us all to work with you to build justice and peace, reconciliation and healing, in our hearts and homes, in our streets, in all communities, neighbourhoods and nations. Bless all who live lives for the peace and wellbeing of others, and make their service fruitful. In the name of Christ, Amen.

Gustaf Skarsgard and Peter Franzén at least are constant filming movies even when they are playing partly supporting roles etc.

Gustaf also played theater in Sweden so he’s like it’s called in dry sheets with his carrier too.

Josephine asplaug also is filming for Swedish series all the time also Lenn Kudrjawizki is busy all the time.

Georgia is a typical " I get what I want from daddy" and only got the role because he‘s making Vikings and sie wants to suck faces with some dudes on set. She even has any talent.

Her sister Maude found her safe space with yoga etc and I meet her at the con and she’s so lovely.

Welp and than there‘s Katheryn Winnick who’s kissing and crawling into the Ukrainen president‘s Ass as far as she ever gets and is annoying like nothing else! She was a pain in the ass at the first German Comic Con with her, " please donate your money to help the Ukraine" stuff! People at those cons won’t the worry there like they do every single day. They are there to escape for a while and having a good time and don’t wanna think at some War etc.

I know that every War sucks and our planet is a big ass mess, but come on sometimes we all need some off days from all that crazy shit.

Ida my sweet girl, she’s finding her way and now she’s at a acting school in England. I‘m really proud of her because she let everybody see how real the struggle is as an actress and not faking anything.

This Chimney storyline really hits home for me. My dad has an awful relationship with his father who left when he was 8 and who his younger siblings have a much closer relationship with. I have a good relationship with my grandfather and call him almost every week but it has always been very awkward to speak of his presence around my parents. I'm incredibly grateful that I get to have a relationship with my grandfather but I felt my dad has always made that difficult. Family is important and a kid will always wonder about that missing part. My grandfather was born in Poland during World War II to Ukrainen Jewish refugees and his sister died in a gas chamber. These are stories that mean a lot to me to know that no one else on earth could ever tell me. I don't have to spend my life wondering what if? So I think this really is a case where you have to put your child above yourself, which is something parents can struggle a lot with and sometimes they will never make peace with. So this is really interesting to see Chimney try and deal with this.

LGBTQ+ Syrian gen-zer here, I really hate how violence and wars in the middle east are only brought up for pity points in arguments, usually homophobic and racist ones too :

The amount of times I've seen stuff like this REALLY piss me off, like people (/nay) only give a single fuck about our issues *when it benefits them*, our struggles aren't there for people to fucking benefit from, and guess what? The slowly increasing LGBTQ+ acceptance around the world DOES help us, because surprise surprise, LGBTQ+ people exist *everywhere*, including the middle east, and we are very much fucking dying, if people really cared about the middle east it wouldn't be something they only bring up in arguments, they would actually know what they're talking about, they wouldn't ignore most of our issues and only bring up a select few for 'good guy' points, and I'm not even asking people to care, there's so fucking much going on in the world it's really hard to care about it all, especially with the current atrocities Ukrainen people are sadly suffering through, it's understandable when people don't know every issue in the world, I don't judge people who don't know, Its okay not to care too, because needless panicking doesn't help anyone, getting worked up won't help, what I am asking people to do is to stop using our issues in their arguments, to stop faking their care for good guy points, it's even funnier when people say shit like that to me, I'm very active in the LGBTQ+ rights field being queer myself, and then people well come at me like 'there are bigger issues in the world 🥺🥺 like syria 🥺🥺'... I do know that, I literally live in syria, that doesn't mean I can't care about other issues that ALSO INVOLVE SYRIA, because guess what??? People demanding acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community aren't just demanding it for a select few first world countries, we're demanding it *everywhere*, and that includes syria where so much homophobic bullshit goes on, don't even get me started on all the other sorts of discrimination that gets the stupid pity points argument in reply as if people forget these things happen in said countries too???? Alright rant over I just needed to say that
