Ethno-identification of contemporary Ukrainian art
. A new trend of this decade is the ethnicity of ornamentation and the display of their culture in art. After a long policy of cosmopolitanism, the question was asked: what is culture, native language and why do we need all this. Ukraine has become one of the brightest representatives of the development of its ethnic group, this is especially reflected in modern fashion and painting. Of course, our favorite ornaments, grandmother's towels in still life and in landscapes have returned: poplar and viburnum. I think ethno-identification is a pretty beautiful aid to art and the development of an artist. Of course, you can break away completely from your roots. ... Any art is acceptable , just personally in my art the feeling of old traditions, great-grandmother's tablecloths and Petrikov painting is very much reflected.

One of my favorite ways to practice #violinshifting is to omit the note before each shift and play as if the composer had written the passage this way. Omitting these notes temporarily trains the shift to arrive on time and smoothly. It also organizes the underlying shifts within each run so the first finger knows exactly how far it needs to go. Here are two examples from #carpathianrhapsody by #myroslavskoryk a #contemporarycomposer of #ukrainianmusic 4 videos: 1) measure 23 of #carpathian #rhapsody by #skoryk ~swipe left~ 2) measure 25 ~swipe left~ 3) photo of m 23 ~swipe left~ 4) photo of m 25 #beautifulukrainian #ukrainianmusicians #ukrainianviolinist #violinteacher #violinpractice🎻 #loveviolin #loveukraine💙💛 #endthewarinukraine #ukrainianculture #ukraineculture #suzukiviolinteacher #мирославскорик #українськакультура #скрипка🎻 #класичнамузика #скрипачвиртуоз #beautifulmusic (at Washington D.C.) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ca9ne2fuvbg/?utm_medium=tumblr

From the gallery today, one of the structural units of the Ukrainian brigade were digging trenches outside of Odessa, and the soldiers found ancient amphorae dating back to about 4-5 centuries AD. By the decision of the commander of the 126th Territorial Defence, the ancient artifacts were handed over to the staff of the Odessa Archaeological Museum of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, who promised to add them to the museum’s magnificent collection of archaeological relics of primitive and classical culture, relics of ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece and Rome.
These two Greek amphoras have survived for 2,500 years. May Ukraine be written into history for not only surviving endless attacks from Putin and Russia but in today’s war may they be heralded as victorious heroes. ❤️🎨❤️ 🇺🇦

I needed to take a beat between the raw emotion of my last post and today’s gallery. I come from a traumatic past, I see and feel so much for Ukraine. I have diaries of drawings much like Margo Sarkisova and her war diary in red ink.
Denys Gorodnychyi, is an incredible oil painter, with his own set of emotions. I don’t know whether I can ever paint like him, but I am determined to live the way he breathes in nature. Gorodnychyi, “The main goal for me remains the desire to preserve the truth of life in pictures, I am sincere in this, and to learn about the world and share this beauty via the human soul.
Since childhood I was fascinated by the beauty of the world. This admiration has not so far ceased to occupy my heart to this day. And most importantly, what has been the main "teacher" for me all this time is nature itself. It is my Love for her, a great desire to know not the laws, but to look deep into the pristine and miraculous beauty, which leads me to this day.“ To the Ukrainian leaders, fighters, people and country, there is an energy from beauty, kindness, love, happiness… it circles us even when we can not see anything but a mad man who will never ever be surrounded by this energy. ❤️🎨❤️ 🇺🇦 #stopputin #ukraineculture #galleryoftoday

From the gallery today, Harlem’s ‘Official’ Street Photographer, Khalik Allah, a 29-year-old filmmaker and photographer who documents the streets of Harlem at night, has been photographing the corner of 125th and Lexington since 2012. “Carrying a book of 4×6 prints for people to see has given me entry [in the lives] of some of the most hardcore people in the world. They can relate to that,” Allah says. “That helped me build a tighter bond with the community.”
Thinking of you, Ukraine. ❤️🎨❤️ 🇺🇦

From the gallery today, Beverly Y. Smith, “I am a mixed media fiber artist. I choose to express myself through quilts because of its personal connection to my ancestors and Southern roots. I construct collage-like art quilts, made of vintage and re-claimed garments. The surface is layered with machine stitching, hand embroidery, paint, transferred images, found objects and graphite drawings. My graphite figures are drawn on unprimed canvas. I use a scale of pencils from HBs and 8Bs. It is characteristic of my work to focus on themes from the Antebellum South that address past taboos and controversial issues.” Thinking about the people of Ukraine. ❤️🎨❤️ 🇺🇦. #stopputin#ukraineculture#thegallerytoday

From the gallery today, Henri de Toulouse Lautrec, b. 1864, was raised in an environment of privilege, Henri loved horses and rode frequently. At a young age, Henri sketched prolifically filling notebook after notebook, horses were frequent subjects.
As he reached puberty he encountered physical problems likely the result of inbreeding, his parents were first cousins. Both thigh bones broke which stunted his growth. No longer able to ride, he focused on art. One of his earliest instructors, Rene Princeteau, helped Henri channel his passion for horses into gestural lines that captured their energy and movement. (The first drawing was done when he was a child.)
My heart is with Ukraine. ❤️🎨❤️ 🇺🇦

From the gallery today, Ali Cavanaugh paints in water colour on specially prepared clay board which makes her method of painting in effect, modern day frescoes. “The flawless pebbly surface of Aquabord takes layers and layers of pigment, is workable and removable. Working with thinner washes and allowing each layer to dry prevents the paint from lifting when applying subsequent layers. It is very labor intensive and can sometimes consist of close to 50 layers of pigment.” My love is with the Ukrainian people. ❤️🎨❤️ 🇺🇦

From the gallery today, Mona Lisa, Leonardo da Vinci, painted the portrait with thirty layers of different shades. In 1911, the painting was hung on the museum wall with just 4 simple hooks, (in relative obscurity in the art world) when Vicenzo Perugia stole the painting which was recovered in 1914 with great fame. Now the Mona Lisa who is more than 500 years old, is displayed in the Louvre in a climate-controlled enclosure behind bulletproof glass which cost $7 million. Her network is roughly $870 million today.
Mona sees over 6 million people at the Louvre each year. They each spend about 15 seconds looking at her. Despite a face recognition software claiming that the portrait of Mona Lisa is 83% happy, 9% disgusted, 6% fearful and 2% angry, things have been repeated thrown at her including stones, acid, and even a coffee mug. And just last Sunday, Mona Lisa came under a “cake” attack after a male visitor masquerading as a wheelchair-bound granny hurled a slice of “gateau” at her.
The suspect, who has since been identified as a 36-year-old man, was reportedly arrested and placed under psychiatric care said, “There are people who are destroying the Earth. All artists, think about the Earth.” A spokesperson for the Louvre said that the museum had filed a complaint with investigators regarding the man who threw the cake.
Just so you know, Mona Lisa has her own mailing box (fact) so if you want to write a friendly, supportive letter, she might need it right now. My support continues to go out to the Ukrainian people. ❤️🎨❤️ 🇺🇦 #stopputin#ukraineculture#ukraineart

From the gallery today, Tara Donovan, b.1969, New York, large-scale installations and sculptures using everyday objects like; styrofoam cups, styrene index cards, nickel-plated steel pins, clear Mylar sheets, plastic tubes, layers of tar paper, and paper plates. She analyzes the physical characteristic of each object, knowing that every object has a special property that will allow her to expand the possibilities of sculpture in relation to bodies, space, and time.
“There is a sense I get of wanting to choreograph someone’s experience of my work because the surfaces of my work do often shift and follow the perspective of the viewer, there is a perceptual movement that coincides with a person’s physical movement within the gallery space.” said Donovan. I have not forgotten you. ❤️🎨❤️ 🇺🇦 #stopputin#ukraineinvasion#ukraineculture#ukraineart
