The Unseen Costs of Brexit
Tumblr media
Brexit has undeniably altered the UK’s relationship with the EU and had significant consequences on various aspects of daily life, from travel and living abroad to education and employment opportunities. Through writing, I focus on the points that drive home the message of the tangible impacts of Brexit and the need for progressive leadership.
A Call for Change Brexit was sold as a move to reclaim sovereignty and control, but the reality for many has been a profound loss. As we navigate the aftermath, it becomes increasingly clear that the promises made have led to unforeseen consequences for all citizens.
Political Reaction
Immigration became a central issue in political debates. Parties and movements advocating for Brexit, such as the UK Independence Party (UKIP) and the Leave campaign, capitalised on public concerns about immigration. They argued that leaving the EU would allow the UK to regain control over its borders and immigration policy.
Loss of Freedom to Travel and Live Abroad
The ability to travel and live freely across EU countries has been curtailed. For many, this has meant giving up dreams of retiring in sunny Spain, pursuing careers in cosmopolitan cities like Paris or Berlin, or even just experiencing the richness of European cultures firsthand. Travel Restrictions
Visa requirements and limited stays in EU countries have replaced our previously seamless travel experience.
Relocation Barriers
Moving abroad now involves complex immigration processes, impacting those who once planned to retire, study or work in the EU. Education and Employment Opportunities
Younger generations, who were just beginning to explore their futures, have been particularly hard hit. The opportunities to study, live, and work in the EU, which were once easily accessible, have become complicated and prohibitively expensive. Erasmus Withdrawal
Students have lost access to the Erasmus+ programme, which provided opportunities to study across Europe, enriching their academic and cultural experiences.
Job Market Challenges
Employment in the EU now comes with additional hurdles, limiting career prospects that were once easily accessible and attainable. Economic and Social Impact
Brexit’s economic fallout has led to job losses and business closures. The promise of newfound economic prosperity seems hollow as industries struggle and communities face financial uncertainty. Trade Barriers
New tariffs and regulations have disrupted supply chains, increased costs and have created many challenges for businesses, especially small enterprises.
Social Division
The referendum and its aftermath have deepened societal divisions, with communities becoming polarised and national discourse often mired in conflict. Politicians' Disconnect
While many politicians who championed Brexit continue to lead comfortable lives, still enjoying the benefits of EU residency or citizenship, ordinary citizens are now facing the brunt of the fallout. The Hypocrisy of Brexit
David Cameron, Nigel Farage, and Boris Johnson who appear to remain unaffected, highlighting a glaring disparity between the rhetoric used to amass votes, and the reality for the average person. There is a growing need to hold leaders accountable for the promises made versus the outcomes delivered. A Call to Action: Make Your Vote Count
As we approach the General Election, it is crucial to advocate for politicians who recognise the damage done and are willing to pursue policies that can repair and rebuild our connections with the EU. We need leaders with vision and a commitment to reversing the detrimental impacts of Brexit. Support Forward-Thinking Leaders
Choose candidates who are focused on restoring opportunities, enhancing economic stability and fostering unity both within the UK and with our European neighbours; advocate for policies that will ease travel, education and employment barriers, ensuring that future generations do not miss out on the opportunities we have taken for granted. Brexit has undoubtedly changed the landscape of the UK. By voting and demanding accountability, we can strive towards a future that reclaims the lost freedoms and opportunities, ensuring a brighter and more inclusive path moving forward. This approach underscores the concrete impacts of Brexit while appealing to a sense of agency and the need for action, encouraging us to vote for much needed change in the upcoming election.
Informed Writing for Democracy I hope my efforts to write about these issues will contribute to a more informed electorate. Writing about important topics can inform and educate the public, which is essential for a healthy democracy. By sharing my perspectives and insights, I aim to spark conversations, challenge prevailing narratives and encourage others to think critically about the issues that matter when choosing the party they vote for.

Ireland is the best destination for Indian students due to its top universities, affordable 1-year master’s programmes, and 2-year post-study work visas. These are just a few reasons out of many that Ireland has to offer you.
Below are the benefits why an MS in Ireland or MBA in Ireland is lucrative and will be life-altering. Notably, as an Indian student, you get several advantages.
Some benefits grace you even before you start your journey!
1. You don’t require a GRE score…
You can still study at Irish universities such as Trinity and UCD. Irish universities, which are in the same league as the US universities, which accept Indian students even without a GRE score.
Isn’t this appealing enough to apply to study in Ireland as an Indian student?
Hence, to get into an Irish university, Indian students require an excellent academic record and scores on one of these tests – IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, and Duolingo.
GRE & GMAT is not required by almost all Irish universities (UCD & TCD may ask for GMAT scores for their MBA degrees).
2. English Language Proficiency Training
All English-speaking countries expect their international students to be well-versed in English, as does Ireland.
But aren’t your English proficiency test scores suitable enough to secure admission?
Not to worry. Irish universities offer Pre-sessional English language programs. These short-term courses are designed to help you gain the skills needed to prepare for exams like IELTS, TOEFL, DET, and PTE.
3. How much study gap is acceptable in Ireland?
The answer is…
Study gaps don’t matter for Irish universities!
As long as you can explain the gap between your last academic year and the time of application, you are as good as any other person without a study gap.
Various reasons, such as employment, vacation, health issues, and business ventures, can be used to explain your study gap. You can provide these reasons in your Statement of Purpose.
Sarem Education will help Indian students with their Statements Of Purpose to study in Ireland.
4. Cost of studying in Ireland is lower for Indian students
Compared to studying in the USA, UK, and Australia, an MS degree in Ireland costs less.
Cost of study in Ireland for Indian students:
Place of study EUROS INR
Universities 12,000 to 36,000 9,97,000 to 28,89,000
Institute of Technology 12,000 to 17,000 9,97,000 to 13,63,000
Colleges 13,000 to 15,000 10,80,000 to 12,00,000
Tuition fee is the most significant cost component, while other expenses like accommodation, student visa, medical insurance, and the like typically cost between €7,000 (5 to 9 lakhs) to €12,000 per year.
There are also independent colleges in Ireland where Indian students can study for lesser fees.
Provided you have the necessary work experience, colleges such as Dublin Business School, Griffith College Dublin, and National College of Ireland should be a sweet deal!
Consultancies do love adhering to “get rich overnight schemes” by giving Indian students the aforementioned options to study in Ireland. However, we do not do that here.
Here is some honest information. Freshers would find it daunting to land a job after graduation from these places. So, apply here at your own risk.
However, experienced candidates should be able to land a job thanks to their experience.
With a part-time job or a paid internship, you can further reduce your expenses to study at an Irish university. We advise that you search for the right one where you can balance your studies with your part-time work.
Just ensure you don’t do anything you will regret on your academic side.
5. Study in Ireland for Indian students: Scholarships
Here is a list of scholarships available for students looking to study in Ireland.
Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships Programme, sponsored by the Higher Education Authority (HEA)
The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme
Scholarships by the Irish Research Council for Humanities and Social Sciences (IRCHSS)
About 60 students get this scholarship which pays them 10,000 euros per year. These Ireland scholarships make life extremely easy for Indian students.
6. The 3 benefits of studying 1-year masters in Ireland
Undoubtedly, Indian students are constantly under pressure to settle down quickly. Studying a 1-year Master’s program at an Irish university can help you alleviate this.
You can fast-forward your dreams of graduating with an MS degree and happily settle abroad sooner than your counterparts in other countries!
Let us enlist and explain the benefits below:
Return to the workforce with world-class skills sooner: Sometimes, students take a 1-year leave to finish their degree and resume work with their previous employer. This is possible if you do a Masters in Ireland. Moreover, a 1-year break for education will also be less harsh on your resume. You can also join the workforce sooner and ease off your loans.
Costs Less: Compared to a 2-year course, studying for a 1-year Masters in Ireland is cheaper. A shorter duration means you pay lesser rent, living expenses, etc.
Resume: In any Master’s course in Ireland, you must complete 90 credits within a year. Inevitably, you will be putting in tons of hard work throughout the year. Consequently, this can bode well for your resume.
7. 100% visa approval
Ireland and India faced the brunt and after-effects of British imperialism and colonization in the 1900s.
Now, both countries share cordial relations owing to which there is less than a 5% chance for your visa to get rejected for Indian students to study in Ireland.
Not impressed?
DAVID FLOOD, Director, India, and South Asia, Enterprise Ireland, shares an impressive stat. The Irish visa approval rate for Indian students has grown by over 95% in the last 5 years.
So what happens to Indian students after they come to study in Ireland?
8. Globally Ranking Universities
Did you know securing admission to Irish universities would allow you to study at one of the top-ranked universities globally? Five universities in Ireland rank within the top 500 globally, and three are within the top 1000.
Trinity College, University College Dublin, University College Cork, University of Galway, University of Limerick, Dublin City University, Maynooth University, and Technological University Dublin are the universities on the list.
9. Highly quality education
The International Graduate Insight Group (i-graduate) found that students pursuing an MS degree in Ireland reported high student satisfaction with their academic experience.
Of course! Why wouldn’t they?
All MS degrees in Ireland are one year in duration. You will be prepared to enter the workforce within one year.
Irish universities and institutions are globally renowned for their programs in Science, Technology, Maths, Teaching, Medicine, Business, and Finance, accredited and recognized worldwide.
Most importantly, the tuition fee is way cheaper to study in Ireland for Indian students than in other top destinations.
Also, Irish universities are ranked among the best in the world regarding gender equality and climate action as per Times Higher Education’s (THE) university impact rankings.
10. Part-time opportunities in Ireland while studying
During their study in Ireland, Indian students can work for up to 20 hours a week.
According to labour statistics, Ireland has more than 400,000 people employed part-time. As regional investment grows and new businesses pop up, part-time jobs shall also grow steadily.
Irish universities also offer teaching assistant positions where students can assist professors with their academic commitments and get paid for them.
Indian students studying in Ireland will be allowed to work 40 hours per week only from June to September & from 15th December to 15th January inclusive. At all other times, students will be allowed to work 20 hours per week while they study.
11. Hub for global corporations
Ireland’s technological ambience is nothing to be scoffed at.
Ireland houses more than 1000 multinational companies, mainly because of Ireland‘s liberal FDI policies and ease of doing business. This opens doors for talent across the world.
Many of these MNCs seek MS degree holders from Irish universities in areas like Artificial Intelligence, ICT, telecom and life sciences.
Several companies – like Google, Facebook, Airbnb, Roche, Abbott, and others – have their European headquarters in Ireland. There are several hundreds of internships for fresher Indian students studying in Ireland.
Down the road, this ups their chances of securing full-time employment.
12. Safe, friendly, party and quality of lifestyle
Consumed by excitement while applying for a Masters, one would leave caution to the wind and fail to read about the destination’s attitude towards international students.
And while Ireland’s windy climate
is often chided for being unfriendly, the locals are super sweet. Indian students in Ireland feel very safe and peaceful, and their study period is a heavenly experience.
Still, undecided to study in Ireland as an Indian student? Contact us so that we can help you connect with alumni.
13. Rich Culture and Heritage
You can earn a 360-degree, fulfilling experience from your education abroad only if you read and imbibe academic papers and the culture around you.
If you are a bookworm, a history buff, or a culture enthusiast, don’t look further into the West than Ireland.
The best part about studying in a European country is that every country is different from the others; in terms of architecture, history, race, music, etc.
Ireland is not just well known for its education but also for reasons like these as well.
Dublin, the capital of the Emerald Isle, is a popular tourist destination filled with parks, museums, and statues paying homage to literary laureates such as Oscar Wilde, Joyce Meyer, etc. Pubs that are about a 1000-year-old grace the ever-alive city centre.
Festivals such as Halloween and St. Patrick’s Day originated in Ireland.
Studying in Ireland for Indian students will be thrilling for those who like to travel to various places and capture the green garlands of nature with their photography skills.
Also, are you familiar with these famous movies- Harry Potter, Star Wars, P.S. I Love You, and Game of Thrones?
All of these films had scenes filmed in Ireland. Ireland’s landscapes breathe life into the dormant desi travel bug in you.
Ireland’s West Coast throngs with breathtaking sceneries, docks, rocky coastlines, and castles. Be sure to check out these places while pursuing your M.S. degree in Ireland.
14. A growing, dynamic Indian community in Ireland
In 2011, The Irish Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, aimed at attracting the 100,000 Indian students moving abroad for their higher studies every year into Ireland’s workforce.
Consequently, between 2013-2017, Ireland saw a 45% increase in international students entering Ireland.
As of 2015, about 26,000 Indians reside in Ireland, of whom about 9,000 are second-generation Indians. They occupy roles in healthcare (doctors and nurses), IT, engineering, and senior management positions.
According to DBEI (Department of Business, Enterprise, and Innovation), the majority of work permits were obtained by Indian students than any other nationality in various fields such as IT, ICT, Finance, Medical, and Business in 2022.
You can see several local businesses in Dublin with Indian owners and managers, which may get you part-time jobs if you can get their patronage. “Muqqabla” and “Urvashi” are some music tracks that rock the corridors of these local businesses. So there is no need to forget the rice, dal, and curry after you leave India.
15. Employment rates are at an all-time high!
It is undoubtedly heartening for us to announce (with proof) that employment rates are at an all-time high. Employment figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) confidently state that Ireland is fully employed.
Lifeline for graduates in Pharmaceuticals, Finance & IT, Pharma and biotech industry in Ireland picked up after companies took advantage of the government lowering tax rates for corporates.
19 of the world’s top 20 pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies are in Ireland. They constantly attract graduates with MS degrees from Irish universities. Indian students considering where to go after a UG degree in biotech, pharma, biomedical, and instrumentation can seek Ireland for higher studies.
Accountancy and Finance are lucrative for Indian students who study in Ireland. Due to the demand level and a squeeze in supply, companies are increasing compensation packages for both attraction and retention purposes. [Source: Morgan Mckinley]
Several tech-centred Irish institutions offer MS degrees in information technology, data analytics, cloud computing, and business analytics.
The courses are tailored to tackle real-time challenges in the tech-savvy industries in the IT hub of Europe. This is one supporting point for young and ambitious Indian students to study in Ireland for their Master’s.
16. Ireland’s post-study work visa benefits make you go WOW!
So here is the answer to the much-awaited question, “How to work in Ireland post-graduation”.
The Irish government offers a 2-year post-study work visa for Indian students in Ireland to seek employment after their graduation.
Ireland has two types of work visas – General Work Permit and Critical Skills Employment Permit.
The Critical Skills Employment Permit is acquired by people in the sectors included on the Critical Skills Occupations List, such as ICT professionals, professional engineers, and technologists. This visa targets highly skilled people, encouraging them to reside permanently in Ireland.
In 2022, 63% of the 10,171 critical skill visas issued were grabbed by Indian students studying in Ireland.
A General Employment Permit allows the holder to work in various occupations. Unlike the Critical Skills visa, this permit recognizes that all professions are eligible unless excluded from the Ineligible List of Occupations for Employment Permits.
17. Easy Pathway to PR
Did you know Ireland has one of the most effortless PR processes globally?
A list of countries with the smoothest PR processes would include Ireland in the top five.
A Critical skill visa allows you to apply for a PR in two years, and a General work permit will enable you to apply for a PR in five years.
Conclusion:
A 1-year study in Ireland for Indian students is flawlessly beneficial.
It is undoubtedly your gateway to finding a job in Ireland and getting a PR soon in Ireland using the 2 years of critical skills work permit.
We can connect you with Indian students in Ireland to enquire about your course and confirm all of the benefits we have mentioned above to studying in Ireland for Indian students.

Hello I was summoned? Gosh I did just wake up from a nap fair warning.
So by all accounts the tour Is selling pretty damn well, I don't think people realise how ticket prices nd tour prices are done. So, let me give you the lowdown
(This is all based on work I did with my music business performance and tech qualification in college *the bit before uni for americans* and reseach and continued work so take that into account)
When a tour is arranged they consider a few things.
Costs, obviously they have to look at the cost of the tour and make sure they have more money than that by a bit to have emergency and contingency funds. This includes stuff like work visas, venues, set, staff. All of that is considered
Breaking even, most tours are only really concerned with minimally breaking even or making their money back. To do that most tours set their break even point FAR BELOW the max ticket sales. To ensure they don't lose money, they try to set it around half (give or take a quarter either side) so they don't have to charge too much while still making money.
Profit, so this, once you hit that break even point provided you don't have costs you don't have to front or invoices you still have to pay everything beyond it us profit. Profit is also generated through online interactions, merch sales (like the 10th ani. Which is why I'd wager it was so expensive)
Contingency, so this is money you usually leave to the side at the start but I don't trust Jamie so we are gonna assume that actually he'd take his contingency from the profits. I don't actually knwo who the tour manager is this time so I'm running on the assumption it's the company. But even then most of the time contingency doesn't get spent. Its just in case money. For any surprise costs.
These are the very very basics we need to talk about in regards to the 1975 tour.
First, it's their first proper stadium tour in a while. At least outside the UK. So it's not expected to sell out. Especially not considering the recent controversies the boys have been through. So one could argue the tour Is selling really well considering.
Second, they've chosen their areas for a reason. When your doing an expensive theatrical stadium tour you need to consider the areas your going to and how much of that venue your actually gonna fill. There's no point booking the O2 if all your fans are in Scotland. And while I can't personally look at the sales statistics and their demographic statistics I'd reckon they've picked their spots wisely (look even idaho likes music) based those stats.
Third, it's really early in the tours life cycle, as in its not even in full swing yet. So most people won't be buying this far in advance if they aren't hard-core fans dying for a ticket. A lot of people wait until its closer to the time (mostly financial reasons and psychological reasons) so it's not fair to judge on how the sales are right this second (still good though) a lot of casuals buy tickets fairly close to shows (insane I know)
If the tour were going to be cancelled. It would have been by now. Unless something extreme happens its unlikely because the boys should have broken even by now and maybe made a small profit. There's other more complex stuff too but this is already a very long ask so I'll stop here
TL/DR I promise they don't need to sell out to break even or profit. They've been touring a while they know how many they average at live concerts and stadiums so they've likely taken the average amount of attendees for a concert and halved it for their break even point. They're smart. They've done this 10 years. Have a little faith in them. P.s most of the twitter people saying that legit just want to see the band fail or stay small and indie for them.
THANK YOOUUUU!!!! yeah I think the statement “this tour is failing” is your equivalent of saying “Beetlejuice” three times. Like if anyone says that, you materialize with info hahahaha
No, this is super, super helpful and informative! For someone who doesn’t know much about music or touring and is just going off of common sense and vibes, like I learned a lot from this!!!
Here y’all go. Twitter do be Twitter-ing which is a surprise to literally nobody. It’s the least thoughtful platform out there and not at all conducive to…like…facts or rational thought haha. Everybody say thank you Ambrose.

Canada has long been a draw for people from India's Punjab province seeking new opportunities elsewhere. But has the Canadian dream soured?
It's hard to miss the ardour of Punjab's migrant ambitions when driving through its fertile rural plains.
Billboards promising easy immigration to Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK jut out through ample mustard fields.
Off the highways, consultancies offer English language coaching to eager youth.
Single-storey brick homes double up as canvasses for hand-painted mural advertisements promising quick visas. And in the town of Bathinda, hundreds of agents jostle for space on a single narrow street, pledging to speed up the youth's runaway dreams.
For over a century, this province in India's northwest has seen waves of overseas migration; from the Sikh soldiers inducted into the British Indian Army travelling to Canada, through to rural Punjabis settling in England post-independence.
But some, especially from Canada, are now choosing to come back home.
One of those is 28-year-old Balkar, who returned in early 2023 after just one year in Toronto. Citizenship was his ultimate goal when he left his little hamlet of Pitho in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. His family mortgaged their land to fund his education.
But his Canadian dream quickly lost its allure a few months into his life there.
"Everything was so expensive. I had to work 50 hours every week after college, just to survive," he told the BBC. "High inflation is making many students leave their studies."
Balkar now runs an embroidery business from a small room on one side of the expansive central courtyard in his typical Punjabi home. He also helps on his family's farm to supplement his income.
Opportunities for employment are few and far between in these rural areas, but technology has allowed entrepreneurs like him to conquer the tyranny of distance. Balkar gets the bulk of his business through Instagram.
"I have a good life here. Why should I face hardships there when I can live at home and make good money?" he asks.
The BBC spoke to at least half a dozen reverse migrants in Punjab who shared similar sentiments.
It was also a common refrain in the scores of videos on YouTube shared by Indians who had chosen to abandon their life in Canada and return home. There was a stark difference one young returnee told the BBC between the "rosy picture" immigration agents painted and the rough reality of immigrant life in Toronto and Vancouver.
The "Canada craze" has let up a bit - and especially so among well-off migrants who have a fallback option at home, says Raj Karan Brar, an immigration agent in Bathinda who helps hundreds of Punjabis get permanent residencies and student visas every year.
The desire for a Canadian citizenship remains as strong as ever though among middle- and lower middle-class clients in rural communities.
But viral YouTube videos of students talking about the difficulty in finding jobs and protests over a lack of housing and work opportunities has created an air of nervousness among these students, say immigration agents.
There was a 40% decline in applications from India for Canadian study permits in the second half of 2023, according to one estimate. This was, in part, also due to the ongoing diplomatic tensions between India and Canada over allegations Indian agents were involved in the murder of Canadian Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
There are also hints of deeper cultural factors at play, for a waning Canadian dream among an older generation of Indian migrants.
Karan Aulakh, who spent nearly 15 years in Edmonton and achieved career and financial success, left his managerial job for a comfortable rural life in Khane ki Daab, the village where he was born in 1985. He told the BBC he was upset by LGBT-inclusive education policies in Canada and its 2018 decision to legalise recreational cannabis. Incompatibility with the Western way of life, a struggling healthcare system, and better economic prospects in India were, he said, key reasons why many older Canadian Indians are preparing to leave the country.
"I started an online consultancy - Back to the Motherland - a month and a half ago, to help those who want to reverse migrate. I get at least two to three calls every day, mostly from people in Canada who want to know what job opportunities there are in Punjab and how they can come back," said Mr Aulakh.
For a country that places such a high value on immigration, these trends are "concerning" and are "being received with a bit of a sting politically", says Daniel Bernhard of the Institute of Canadian Citizenship, an immigration advocacy group.
A liberalised immigration regime has been Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's signature policy to counter slowing economic growth and a rapidly aging population.
According to Canada's statistics agency, immigration accounted for 90% of Canada's labour force growth and 75% of population growth in 2021.
International students contribute to over C$20bn ($14.7bn; £11.7bn) to Canada's economy each year, a bulk of them Indians who now make up one in five recent immigrants to the country.
India was also Canada's leading source for immigration in 2022.
The numbers of those leaving are still small in absolute terms with immigration levels at all-time highs in Canada - the country welcomed nearly half a million new migrants each year over the past few years.
But the rate of reverse migration hit a two decade high in 2019, signalling that migrants were "losing confidence" in the country said Mr Bernhard.
Country specific statistics for such emigrants, or reverse migrants, are not available.
But official data obtained by Reuters shows between 80,000 and 90,000 immigrants left Canada in 2021 and 2022 and either went back to their countries, or onward elsewhere.
Some 42,000 people departed in the first half of 2023.
Fewer permanent residents are also going on to become Canadian citizens, according to census data cited by the Institute for Canadian Citizenship. In 2001, 75% of those eligible became citizens. Two decades later, it was 45%.
Canada needs to "restore the value of its citizenship," said Mr Bernhard.
It comes as Canada debates its aggressive immigration targets given country's struggle to absorb more people.
A recent report from National Bank of Canada economists cautioned that the population growth was putting pressure on its already tight housing supply and strained healthcare system.
Canada has seen a population surge - an increase of 1.2 million people in 2023 - driven mostly by newcomers.
The report argued that growth needed to be slowed to an annual increase of up to 500,000 people in order to preserve or increase the standard of living.
There appears to have been a tacit acceptance of this evaluation by policymakers.
Mr Trudeau's Liberal government recently introduced a cap on international student permits that would result in a temporary decrease of 35% in approved study visas.
It's a significant policy shift that some believe may end up further reducing Canada's appeal amid a wave of reverse migrations.

Navigating the IT Jobs Market Within London
Tumblr media
While new opportunities and prospects may seem exciting and enticing, charting a path for vacant IT jobs in London and the surrounding territory, while trying to find both work and living demands a strategic and planned approach and partnering with perhaps a specialist IT recruitment agency.
The city is amassed with major tech giants and conglomerates, including social media favourites like Google and Facebook, along with new budding, smart technology startups spanning sectors in finance, media, education, insurance healthcare, and governance bodies. Opting for available vacancies within London means finding, and embracing this vibrant city alive with diverse culture, leisure, and amenities. For many budding IT jobs in London seekers within the local surrounding areas, this work-life change can serve as the ideal career path and living opportunity, providing a wealth of available opportunities.
IT individuals seeking fresh horizons, and a more than lively social life, then the capital city stands as a brilliant and realistic, give-us-a-try vibe, to progress your chosen career path. Exploring and matching your preferred IT role and embarking on a successful job search for IT jobs in London, the hunt can sometimes entail the services of an IT recruitment agency and their team of consultants, by ideally aligning your professional interests, experience, and skills with available and suitable roles.
Try to diversify your search resources –using relevant social and digital platforms and contacting multiple IT recruiters can offer a big opportunity boost. Do not commit to the first interested agency you come across, engage proactively with several and gauge their responses both in time and clarity, along with your related search aspirations, and test their responsiveness to your skill sets and experience.
Not a British or dual nationality citizen!  You do and will need to acquire a UK Work Visa: If you are an international jobseeker, then possessing a valid UK work visa or permit is paramount. A significant portion of London businesses and companies, as well as other UK major cities, employ IT workers that hail from overseas.
Your recruitment agency should be able to discuss, advise, and offer guidance on work application requirements. Check, and bear in mind any potential fees and other various requirements that need to be attended to, such as tax and health insurance, etc., based on your country of work and also your home country's tax or, earnings-related implications.
Accommodation: While an IT recruitment agency might be able to offer assistance and advice, the onus of finding accommodation lies with you. Several search platforms and agents can assist in this quest. Additionally, weigh the different pros and cons of transportation, living costs, and entertainment. Driving in the city may prove difficult and very challenging both in cost and time, but in general public transportation offers a reliable and viable alternative, at a cost.
Selecting accommodation that fits your budget, might mean a certain amount of travel time is involved, so be aware and prudent in any financial decision you make. Working in London not only provides a chance to work with smart and new cutting-edge technology but also offers a cosmopolitan lifestyle, brimming with cultural, entertainment, and social experiences.
Identifying job roles: Begin by pinpointing an IT recruitment agency that is aware and aligns with your understanding of the type of work requirements you seek. Check their expertise, and what they can offer and bring to your professional career trajectory. Though social media platforms can be of assistance, when looking for IT jobs in London, it's prudent to diversify your search. Remember, every agency promises to provide a unique job search experience and proactive perspective; finding the one that ideally resonates with your requirements is important and paramount.

Long post alert:
Related to the 2 anons that mentioned touring in Asia. I just wanted to bring up some reasons why artists don’t tour the region. And this is not a knock to any of the countries at all. Because Non-US artists have to follow rules when doing shows in the US as well. I just wanted to shed some light on a very complicated process of ‘doing business overseas’. I don’t know about all of Asia. But I know that Indonesia, Japan, and Philippines in particular have very strict stipulations related to their artist/performer visas. There’s a lot of paperwork involved with applying for visas. Some of the visas stipulate: limits to the number of days in the country (some as short as 5 days), how many ppl on the touring team that can come, how much equipment can be brought in, how much money that can be made on the tour, and how much (if any) merch can be sold. Then you have to add in the increased cost for travel. Also, the artist has to purchase extra insurance to cover their health, liability, and equip while traveling internationally. Then there’s the customs taxes and fees. So up to half of the gross earnings may be taken off the top in traveling costs, visas, and customs fees. And that doesn’t consider the normal cost of producing the tour, venues, paying agents, managers, label, musicians, and all the other tour employees. If they don’t follow the regulations they can be deported and banned from entering the country. So it’s very expensive and risky (based on tix sales) to perform shows in other counties. I’m sure management and legal likely weigh the costs and risk to determine if it is worth it. That’s usually why artists do opt for festivals for international shows because a lot of the logistics mentioned above are handled by the festival and not the artist’s team. To tour in UK, IE, and EU the visa requirements are a bit different. I also have to mention that touring as a whole has become incredibly more expense since the the pandemic. And they may have thought that touring with TSwift next summer would cover the mainland Europe portion. Even though I understand all of the above, I do still feel badly for the fans from certain parts of the world that never or rarely get shows performed near them.
well they need to rethink that ONLY touring w taylor swift thing cause everyone was and still is mad 😭 but yes this makes more sense than lack of popularity cause they're not unpopular there since they have been to asia every era. europe was just odd cause they usually tour the u.k. & the rest of europe like together since logistically it makes sense so it was all just a really odd decision

I’ m curious, exactly what do you consider an acceptable explanation for the cancellation? They stated that there were unforeseen circumstances beyond their control. That’s an explanation. Those unforeseen things could be logistical issues/costs, it could be visa problems( since the uk is no longer under eu umbrella, it could be problems on live nations end, as the promoters, it could be problems with rising costs. There have been other tours that have pulled their Asian legs, there’s even been a kpop act that has canceled because of things beyond their control. So what do you want said? Because if the problem is with any business entity, Louis can’t say anything, that would be business suicide.
okay, i never asked for a tell all or to know the nitty gritty details of it. so many artists who cancel shows, always post something on all their social media platforms with a heartfelt apology. i'm just saying that that should've come from louis too, instead of the one tweet which wasn't mindful at all. i'm just saying, that he should've properly acknowledged it and made a post saying "due to unforseen circumstances, we've had to cancel the tour. fans will get their refund. i was so excited and i'm actually gutted and we hope to be able to come play for you soon" or something along those because he has done that before and it's much better for fans to receive proper acknowledgement instead of finding out about this through event organisers or update accounts or some such.

Short Term Loans UK: A True Aid in Difficult Times
Tumblr media
Are you looking for a payday item that will help you when you suddenly encounter financial crises at the middle or end of the month? Perhaps you might plan a few expenses before payday? In light of everything, you can discretely go ahead and apply for short term loans UK. These loans are the most sought-after financial options for people who are looking for a financial opportunity to get through an unexpected financial emergency before their next pay period. When a borrower decides to apply for financial assistance, he or she may use the entire amount for a variety of financial needs, such as paying for your child's education, urgent medical expenses, household expenses, power costs, grocery bills, monthly advance payments, auto repair costs, and past-due Visa bills.
Short term loans UK direct lender are made available to a wide variety of customers without any additional perks in exchange for the advance. Banks never ask for the borrower's house, property, or car as security. In reality, the credit providers determine the advance amount based on several crucial consumer characteristics so the loan specialist could account for all risks. These elements may include the ability to repay credit, necessary financial resources, the purpose of the loan, and current income situation.
Are you looking for a Direct Lender for a Short Term Loans?
A short term loans direct lenders may be a choice for you if you need to borrow money to pay for a large purchase, cover unexpected expenses, organise a significant event, or consolidate debt. A valuable item, typically your property, must be provided as collateral for same day loans UK in the event that you are unable to make all of the loan payments. This is not the case for unsecured loans.
Once the moneylender has resolved each of these issues, he simply enables you to receive a sum between £100 and £2,500. The borrower must repay this money when they receive their next paycheck. If a buyer makes an effort and timely payments of the money they have acquired back, they will receive an improved financial assessment that is fully valid. The advance providers also keep financing expenses as quiet as possible. In general, loan fees are the same for people with good and bad FICO ratings. It suggests that same day loans UK are exempt from the frantic credit verification conventions. People who are struggling with credit issues like chapter 11, bank overdue debts, missed payments, late payments, skipped payments, CCJs, IVAs, and bankruptcy are invited to apply as borrowers. However, it is true that people with excellent FICO ratings are also frequently encouraged by the lenders to make some money through the described advance.
Applying for same day loans UK is easy because there is a framework for an online application process. In this method, all you need to do is complete a brief online application form together with some pertinent information, such as your contact information, ability to receive advance reimbursement, proof of your business's status, and financial balance nuances. When the lender approves your advance, he will first confirm your points of interest, and the money will then be specifically transferred into your ledger on the day of use.

Pros & cons of living in Dubai
Tumblr media
Living in Dubai: Weighing up the benefits and challenges
Dubai is renowned for its towering skyscrapers, luxurious lifestyle and diverse cultural blend. It is often viewed as a city of opportunity, drawing expats from all over the world with its dynamic economy, high standard of living and appealing lifestyle. Yet, living in Dubai isn't without its challenges. Understanding these can help you decide if living in Dubai aligns with your goals and expectations.
Our guide provides an honest insight into living in Dubai as an expat. From attractive job opportunities and sunny weather to navigating visa requirements and coping with the heat, we cover key factors to help you determine if Dubai could be your next home.
Pro: Tax-free income
Dubai's tax-free income is one of the main reasons why the city is already home to so many expats. This policy is in place due to Dubai's economical structure and government priorities, which ultimately benefit both the city and the individuals who work and live there. Tax-free income is beneficial for expats for many reasons:
Higher disposable income
Increased savings potential
Competitive salaries
Better lifestyle opportunities
Potential for tax benefits in their home country
Incentive for professional growth
Attractive for business owners
Pro: Career opportunities
Many move to Dubai for its job opportunities particularly in sectors like finance, IT, hospitality and construction. The city serves as business hub connecting East and West, with its central location in the Middle East. Many large companies and corporations often have headquarters in Dubai, which creates a demand for skilled professionals. Salaries in Dubai are competitive, and with no income tax, it doesn't really get any better! Companies also often have attractive benefits such as accommodation allowances, healthcare and performance bonuses, which makes the cost of living manageable.
Con: High cost of living
While tax-free income is appealing, expenses such as rent, schooling, healthcare and everyday activities can quickly rack up. While the high cost of living in Dubai may seem daunting, many expats are prepared to pay the premium in exchange for the benefits of making this city home. However, it's important that you plan carefully and budget effectively to ensure the high costs do not rise too much.
Pro: High standard of living
Dubai offers an exceptional lifestyle with state-of-the-art healthcare, luxury shopping malls and modern infrastructure designed for comfort and convenience. Expats enjoy access to world-class medical facilities and shopping experiences, while the city's efficient transport system makes getting around easy. For families, Dubai provides excellent international schools with diverse curriculums, alongside a range of family-friendly activities, including theme parks, outdoor adventures and cultural attractions. With its high standard of living, Dubai is a city that caters to both individual and family needs, making it a great place to live for expats.
Con: Limited green spaces
The city's natural green spaces are somewhat limited. The urban landscape is dominated by skyscrapers, shopping malls and business districts, with the desert landscape expanding beyond the city. The lack of natural greenery can be a downside for those who enjoy those environments, such as parks and forest areas. While there are some well kept parks and man made green spaces, such as Zabeel Park or the Dubai Miracle Garden, they often don't compare to the rolling green spaces we have here in the UK. This can affect those who love the outdoors and enjoy activities like hiking or gardening. Nonetheless, Dubai residents make the most of what is available, with city parks offering a space to escape the city's hustle and bustle.
Pro: Strategic location and travel hub
For those who enjoy travelling, Dubai is perfectly positioned as a global travel hub, offering easy access to a wide range of destinations across Europe, Asia and Africa. The city's strategic location between continents makes it an ideal base for travelling for business and leisure. Dubai International Airport (DXB) is one of the busiest and most efficient airports in the world, with direct flights to over 240 destinations across more than 100 countries. Whether you're planning a weekend getaway or a longer holiday abroad, living in Dubai gives you endless opportunities to travel and explore the world.
Pro: Multicultural environment
Living in Dubai means being part of a vibrant, multicultural community with people from over 200 nationalities. This diversity creates enriching opportunities for cultural exchange, with a wide variety of cuisines, festivals and traditions to enjoy. From global food offerings to celebrations like Diwali, Chinese New Year and Eid, Dubai's cultural calendar is full of exciting events. The city's inclusive atmosphere allows residents to experience and participate in different cultures, making it a great place to live for expats.
Con: Cultural adjustments
You will need to adjust to Dubai's laws and customs if you are unfamiliar with Middle Eastern culture. Dubai upholds Islamic values and traditions, which will influence many aspects of your daily life. For instance, during Ramadan, residents and visitors are expected to respect the practice of fasting by refraining from eating, drinking or smoking in public during daylight hours. While restaurants and cafes will be open in certain areas, understanding and observing these practices demonstrates cultural awareness and respect. By adapting to these practices, expats not only integrate more smoothly into living in Dubai but also gain a deeper appreciation for the culture.
Con: Extreme weather
Dubai's summers are notoriously hot, with temperatures often surpassing 40 degrees celsius and high humidity levels add to the intensity. These conditions can make outdoor activities difficult, especially during midday hours. However, by careful planning and finding indoor activities to keep you busy, expats can adapt to and manage the extreme summer climate more comfortably.
Pro: Sunny weather
Dubai's sunny weather is a major attraction for expats looking for a warm climate. With nearly 365 days of sunshine each year, the city offers an outdoor-friendly lifestyle for most of the year, ideal for beach days, poolside relaxation and al fresco dining. The consistent sunshine is a welcome change for those who come from the UK and other colder climates and can enhance the mood and overall well-being of expats.
Pro: Streamlined visa application process
For many expats, Dubai's visa process is relatively straightforward, especially when supported by an employer. Work visas, in particular, are often handled by the hiring company, making it easier for professionals to transition to life in the UAE. Additionally, recent changes, such as the introduction of long-term residency visa and retirement visas, have provided more flexibility and opportunities for expats to stay in Dubai.
Con: Visa tied to employment
One challenge for expats living in Dubai is that visas are typically tied to employment, meaning your residency status depends on maintaining a valid job. If you lose or change jobs, there may be limited time to secure a new position or switch visas, which can cause stress and uncertainty. Navigating these requirements independently can also be complex and time-consuming without proper guidance.
Is living in Dubai right for you?
Dubai is an attractive destination for those seeking career growth, a high standard of living, and cultural diversity. However, it's essential to weigh the pros and cons to determine if it aligns with your personal and professional goals.
At Pickfords, we've helped countless customers successfully move to Dubai, providing support every step of the way. With careful planning, Dubai can offer an exciting and rewarding experience for those ready to embrace its lifestyle and culture.

Tumblr media
Are you thinking about expanding your business internationally? The UK offers a welcoming environment for foreign entrepreneurs. You don't even need to be a resident to begin the process!
Registering a UK company as a foreign national is a straightforward process that can be completed online. This opens up a world of opportunities, including the possibility of obtaining a UK Skilled Worker visa, sometimes called a UK Self-Sponsorship Visa.
The UK Self-Sponsorship visa allows you to live and work in the UK while managing your own business. This visa has several advantages over other business visas. For example, unlike the sole representative visa, the UK Self-Sponsorship visa allows majority shareholders to enter the UK. The UK Self-Sponsorship visa also differs from the UK innovator founder visa because it does not require endorsement from an endorsing body.
The UK Skilled Worker visa offers a range of benefits, including the opportunity to apply for permanent residency after five years. It also allows you to bring your family with you to the UK. You will have flexibility in terms of your business sector, meaning you can set up a business in any field.
Additionally, there is no major investment requirement, unlike some other visas. Finally, the UK Skilled Worker visa offers more stability and security against visa cancellations.
To qualify for a UK Business visa, you need to meet a few key requirements. You must have a concrete plan for starting or acquiring a business in the UK, and there must be a genuine job role for you within the business.
You also need to demonstrate that the business has enough funds to cover salaries and that you have sufficient English language skills.
Finally, you must show that you have the skills and experience necessary to make your business a success.
Read our informative blog on Best UK Business Visa Route to Start a Business in the UK in 2024
