1. How many works do you have on AO3? Somehow I've reached 10 whole works... 9 of which are completed.

2. What's your total AO3 word count? 193,772. Shit I gotta write something to break 200k.

3. What fandoms do you write for? rottmnt pretty exclusively. I never have been so plagued by a media that I felt the need to write it down before. Insane that the ninja turtles got me.

5. Do you respond to comments? Yeah!! At least if there's something to like, reply to. I get very giddy about doing it, so if you've ever received a rambling five paragraph essay from me uhhh enjoy my stream of consciousness.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I don't think any of them have angsty endings? Mostly bc i need all my little guys to be happy. the ol switcheroo is the fic that I cried the most writing though, hands down.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Again, all happy endings, but HMMMM how to get very good at juggling may be the happiest. It's a hard pick tho.

8. Do you get hate on fics? Nah.

9. Do you write smut? Not that anyone gets to see.

10. Craziest crossover? I've never written one! I tend not to seek them out, though there are definitely a handful I'm very fond of.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I'm aware of!

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Not that I'm aware of!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yeah! My friend and I have been co-writing a fic on and off since about 2018. It's just for us, really, since it's basically a post-canon fic of an RP that we were in from like 2009-2013ish? Anyway the lore doesn't make sense but the character dynamics compel me so here we are. I've got some snippets and some drawings for it in #rs tag.

14. All time favourite ship? Not a big shipping person!

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I intended on writing more for hot girl summer, but considering I haven't updated it in about a year, and I never really had a plan in the first place, and I feel like the last posted chapter ended in a very conclusive place, that ship has probably sailed.

16. What are your writing strengths? The Bit. She's my #1, I never forget. My favorite comments are along the lines of "please stop making me laugh during this very sad section". People have different tastes of course, but I find that consistent, oppressive angst is just not...appealing to me, and if the angst goes on for too long, I'll just drop the fic. I like to add a little levity to the mood, or at least some dark humor.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? Ough. Planning is a bad one for me. I didn't have an outline for any of my fics, besides some rough mental plans. for the ol switcheroo, I didn't even have an ending figured out when I started writing it. Actually coming up with ideas can be difficult, and I usually need to have something actively eating away at my brain in order for it to make it onto paper.

18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language? Depends on if the POV character understands it or not. If they don't, I'll usually just write like "Character B said something in Spanish." If they do understand it, I'd write, "Character B started speaking in Spanish. "Do you drink milk?"" Maybe put it in italics if it doesn't seem super clear? The exception would be like, if a character is peppering words from another language, a bit like Leo and Spanish in rottmnt.

19. First fandom you wrote in? Technically I wrote some Pokemon fic back in like 2008. It was OC fic and I could not tell you for the life of me what it was about though.

20. Favourite fic you've written? vigilantism for fun and profit may be the one that I reread the most, though I do reread all the fics in the mean teen fighting machines series. The fic that single-handedly gave me Foot Clan brainrot. Casey Jones isn't even my favorite character in the show as written.

Himeko..... I was actually really excited to get to know Himeko more when I had first started off. I mean come on: she's so beautiful! But laksjdfh I think overtime she eventually stopped standing out for me that I lost interest. That plus now that I've played HI3, the reason why I like HSR! Himeko feels like it's only because of HI3 Himeko and the importance of Himeko in the HI3 plot and for many characters' developments 😭 Sorry Himeko

a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not:

I guess KafHime tbh? I think aesthetically they're a very very pretty couple, but I just can't get behind it at all. Or I just have no reasons to get behind it since I'm not exactly invested in either characters. Though Kafka is definitely growing on me because I built her (accidental pull) and she's been doing such massive damage so like you know.

I'll write this as "favorite update". Penacony has been suuuuch a fun ride honestly. So I'll say that entire section has been tons of fun. As of now I still haven't finished it in its entirety, but I can sense 2.2's story will probably be my favorite because I've been waiting to get to know Robin more and the Watchmaker!! But 2.1 has been fun because I just love seeing Acheron's section of it heheh :)

saddest death:

UHHH as of now, I think Aventurine's death in 2.1 was really sad :/ Hoyo did a really good job writing Aventurine and his story that once you get to the finale of the 2.1, I found myself kinda torn on how it ended. Aventurine who placed his bets on his own death because that is what his good luck is good for - winning against all odds. The epilogue scene with Aventurine walking off into the Nihility's shadow kinda got me too. And this is coming from someone who is like very.... meh on Aventurine? I can't really bring myself to get super invested in him but objectively, he is a really well thoughtout and well created character. I just have no feelings towards him.

favorite season:

I'll write this as "favorite area". It's still Penacony askldjfahlsk There's sooooo many things happening in Penacony and I loved being able to put the pieces together to figure out what's going on. It's also the first area that I had nearly read all the readables in because I'd make it my goal to finish reading every readable and 100% every area before the next update in Penacony :> I want to better understand the area I'm in and give myself ideas for where the story can go. The second area would have been Belobog because it's the only other area I was trying to 100% and read all the readables for (are the readables important in Belobog? no but some of them sure made me cry a bit LMAO)

least favorite season:

"Least favorite area" Honestly... Herta's Space Station. But that could also be because when I first started HSR, I was still orienting myself to the new world, so the space station is the least i remember. It's not that I hated it; it's trying to orient you into the new world and I was just confused for majority of it. I just don't remember enough about it nor about the people within it to care for it.

character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate:

Objectively: I'll say he's interesting and I am interested to see his development. But Dr. Ratio. I don't get it. I've seen people talk about him wanting education to be accessible to ALL which is GREAT but personality? Can't stand him.

Ruan Mei my most beloved. I want more of her and I feel like we didn't get enough of her. She's just so interesting as a character and while she may not be the most caring of characters - and reasons why people shit on her - I still feel like her view as a character is interesting. And even her motives of wanting to become an Aeon. I want to understand her better. Why? What drove her to want to become so? I WANT TO UNDERSTAND YOU MISS

not a beautiful cinnamon roll but she sure is beautiful but i love Jingliu 😭😭😭 one reason why i don't like interacting with majority of the fandom is because of their viewpoint on Jingliu's companion quest. I had way way clearer thoughts on the quest when it was fresh on my brain, but I actually liked it a lot more than the fandom let on about it, and I know that people were kinda shittalking about Jingliu afterwards and that made me Mad on her behalf because I think she's a really nicely thought out character. But then again, if you know me: white hair character who is defined by mourning and grief. you know the deal LKAJDHFALKJD

idk. I just feel like she deserves better than how the fandom treats her.

No one asked but I actually kinda lowkey ship Firefly/Robin. Like very very lowkey. My only reasoning is when 2.0 was fresh and i was in Mourning over Robin, I once sent a very giant and long essay to my friend N about me late night perusing and overanalyzing Firefly and Robin's deaths. like why specifically them ? Why did they have to die?

I took it in a very symbolic matter. I thought too much about Firefly's monologue about her answer to "Why do people slumber?" and her answer being "Because people are afraid to be awake" or something like that. And about how it was "If I can stop one heart from breaking" that played in the background of all this - a song that praises the comforts of a dream in the face of bleakness. In both cases, in my view, it felt like having both of them die at least in that update, the deaths also seemed to signal the idea of ceasing this concept of a dream and to face reality etc.

And that's something I'm super excited about based on where i am with HSR with arguing with Sunday over the concept of comfort vs freedom.

BUT BACK TO THE POINT OF THIS QUESTION: this concept and me fixating on their meanings, it gave me a reason to kinda put Firefly/Robin together. It's kinda nice parallel with each other in a way haha

Kat was talking with Albert and Race when the front door had opened, promptly closed, and another door slammed. Looking at the clock, it was 5:30, the normal time Jack would be arriving home. 

Looking at the two, she shrugged her shoulder, excusing herself before walking over to the closed bedroom door. Placing her hand on the knob, she tried turning it only to find it locked. 

“Jack, you okay?” 

“Leave me alone!” His voice was muffled, and it sounded as if he was underwater and tired. 

Putting a hand on the door, she sighed. “Do you need anything?” 

“No. Just want to be alone.” 

Kat flinched at the tiredness of his voice and nodded. “Ok. Race and Albert are here if you want to talk with them.” 

“I’ll be out in a bit. Just need some time to wrap my head around something.” He paused for a moment before adding, “I love you.”

She smiled, sadly. “I love you too.” 

Returning to the living room, she gave the two a tight smile. “Jack okay?”

“He said he’s wrapping his head around something.” Kat mumbled, looking at Race. “If he’s not out in an hour, you can go talk to him.” 

Race nodded, as Albert switched the conversation to something mindless. But Race and Kat were both concerned with the man locked in the room. 

An hour later, after Albert said his goodbyes and there were promises to keep him updated on Jack, Race and Kat stood in front of the door. 

“Jack?” Kat softly knocked on the door, waiting to hear a response. 

The seconds that followed were painfully quiet. “Yea, Kat?”

“You doing any better?” 

There were another couple of seconds of silence. “A little but not ready to come out yet.”  

Kat looked at Race, tears clouding her eyes. He smiled at her before his lips stretched into a grin. “If you don’t open up that door on the count of three, I will start huffing and puffing!”

A strangled giggle escaped Kat’s mouth as she gasped at her brother-in-law. “One …..”

Silence. 

“Two ….” 

Silence. 

“Th—-”

The door flew open, as the two of them jumped back in surprise. “You are worst than a god damn border collie.” 

Both of them took a moment to look Jack over. His eyes were red from crying, his face looked as if he had aged 10 years in 8 hours, and he was overall tired. 

He shuffled back to the bed before crawling into it, burying himself in the blankets and pillows. The two exchanged looks before walking into the room. Kat immediately climbed into the bed, rubbing her hand through Jack’s hair while Race stood there awkwardly, hands in his pocket, visibly upset at whatever had upset his brother. 

“It was a horrible day at work.” Jack started. “It didn’t start off that way though.” 

He opened his eyes, looking at Kat before patting the other side of the bed for Race. Toeing off his shoes, Race joined them on the bed as Jack reached for his hand. “Did you hear about that apartment fire in Midtown?” 

Kat and Race both shook their heads. “It started about 11am. I was already in Midtown, taking photos of an exhibit that’s going to open. So I was one of the first photographers on scene and it was just bad.”

He took several deep breaths, squeezing Race’s hand and leaning into Kat’s comfort. “People were stumbling from the burning building, covered in ash and soot. People were on the fire escape but couldn’t get down until the fire department got there.” 

“Was everyone okay?” Kat whispered, squeezing Jack’s other hand and leaving a kiss on his forehead. 

“As far as I know, yeah.” He nodded. “But some of the photos I took are haunted. Just raw and the details are kinda burnt into my brain.” 

Running a hand through his brother’s hair, Race smiled. “That’s what you’re so damn good at your job, Jack. You show the rawness of the human race and all with a camera. You don’t shy away from fear or sadness or happiness in your photos.” 

Squeezing his hand, Jack gave him a half smile. “So why is this hurting you so much more than any of the other building fires you’ve covered? You’ve covered so much more tragedies than this. Why is this one staying with you?” 

“There was a little girl. She couldn’t have been more than 5. She was pushed out onto the stoop of the apartment building and was too stunned to do anything - almost like she was frozen and couldn’t move. People pushed by her trying to escape but she just stood there.” He paused, trying to catch his breath. “No one stopped to help her. I was close enough so I picked her up and brought her towards the street so we were close enough for someone to find her but out of danger.” 

Tears clouded his eyes, silence in the room, giving him time to work through whatever he needed to. “She has the biggest brown eyes I’ve ever seen on a little girl. She clung to me as if she knew something had happened to her family. We stood there and watched people spill out of the building, not saying anything. I didn’t even get her name.” He sighed. “Finally after like 30 minutes, her aunt came out and she gasped and yelled her name. They were reunited - tears, hugs, and rushed thank yous to me before they left. I can’t imagine what was going through her mind in those 30 mins, not knowing if her family was safe or not.”

“Oh Jack. I’m so sorry.” Kat whispered, kissing his forehead. “That’s tough, and thankfully she had you looking out for her.” 

Race smiled. “It should be no surprise you did that.” 

“In what way?” Jack asked, looking at his younger brother. 

Chuckling, Race shook his head. “You always look for the needy, the ones that need help. You were always the first person we would go to at Medda’s - you were a best friend, brother, father-figure to everyone at that house. You were always looking out for us and protecting us, even when we were grown. It’s no wonder that little girl clung to you while she waited - she knew you were safe for whatever reason.” 

“Thanks, Race.” 

Squeezing his brother’s hand, Race just grinned. “Just doing my brotherly duty. Need to make sure your brain doesn’t get too big.” 

“And the special brotherly moment we were just having is over.” Jack shook his head. 

Race chuckled. “This version of Jack, the mopey and sad one just isn’t you and while it’s rare for it to happen, we’re always here for you. No matter what.” 

Jack smiled. “Thanks for the whole huffing and puffing bit.” 

“It always worked at Medda’s - figures it might work here as well.” Race shrugged with a grin. 

Kat looked between the two. “What was going to happen if he got to three?” 

“The door would’ve come off one way or another.” Jack chuckled. “Smalls was notorious for locking herself in a bathroom or a room so Race came up with that saying, letting whoever know that if the door wasn’t opened by 3, the door was coming down one way or another.” 

Kat laughed. “Did you ever take the door down?”

“Uhhh….” Race threw his head back and laughed loudly. “Jack you wanna tell the story?” 

Jack chuckled. “Smalls was being a pain in the ass and going through the typical teenager drama. She was the only girl in the house outside of Medda and Chance hadn’t arrived yet. She was in a pissy mood from the time I picked her up from school and none of my usual tricks were working to get her to chat. I must’ve pissed her off because as soon as we got home, she booked it to her bedroom and refused to come out.” 

“By this time, we had perfected the phrase but Race was the only one that could pull it off perfectly. So when he gets home, he walks up to the door and does it. It’s absolute silence and no movement at all.” 

Race is laughing so hard that tears are streaming down his face. 

Taking a deep breath, he calms himself enough to finish the story. “So I walk downstairs and tell Jack that we need to take the door off. Jack runs downstairs and gets some tools; meanwhile, Medda is just walking through the door and sees us all standing around. I clue her in just as Jack walks up the stairs and she tells us not to take the door off but just the doorknob. Well we do that and push open the door only to find Smalls passed out on the bed sound asleep.” 

At that point, Jack and Race both lose it and just start laughing which then pulls Kat into laughing until they all have tears streaming down their faces. 

“Oh my gosh I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time.” Jack slapped Race on the back. “Thanks Race.”

Kat wiped her eyes from the unshed tears. “Do you feel better?”

“I do and it’s all thanks to you both.” Smiling at them, Jack shook his head. “I love you both.”

Race stood, out his shoes back on before heading for the door. “Love you too Jackie.”

“Where are you going?” Jack asked, giving a classic older brother eyebrow raise, questioning look. 

Sticking his hands in his pocket, Race grinned. “Spot’s been blowing up my phone wondering where I was so I gotta go make it up to him.” 

“Ugh never mind me asking.” Jack pulled a face while Race blew him a kiss. 

“Love you too Jackie and Plums.” He paused grinning. “If you don’t hear from me by the morning, check all the morgues and parks for a dead body.” 

Kat chuckled, shaking her head at the boy’s dramatics. “He won’t kill you, Racetrack.” 

“You never know what he’ll do in a fit of passionate rage.” Race cackled hearing Jack’s obvious disgust. “Don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about, Jackie!” 

Pointing to the door, Jack gave Race a look. “Love you, thank you for this afternoon but get outta here! And leave your comments about your sex life to yourself! There are things that myself and Kat don’t need to know about you and Spot!” 

“Why do we keep him around?” Jack looked at Kat, grinning at the scoff that came from Race’s direction. 

“Our lives would be so much duller without Race and Spot in them.” Kat patted her husband’s arm. “Besides you did say Race is your favorite brother.” 

Popping his head back in the room, Race grinned brightly. “See you love me and I’m your favorite.”

“I already told you I love you. Now get outta here before Spot really kills you and asks me to hide the body.” Jack shook his head at his brother’s antics. “Text me when you get home.” 

“Uh huh.” Was Race’s reply before they heard the door shut a few moments later. 

Cuddling into Kat’s embrace, he sighed in contentment. “Thank you for this afternoon. You knew when to give me space and when to engage Race.” 

“Anytime, Jack. I’m always going to be here for you.” Kissing his forehead, she sighed. “Love you.”

“Love you too.”

simon replies to baz’s comment and is like “oh my god thank you so much. you’re like my actual favorite youtuber” like a fucking Nut and people see that and say “omg collab” because they’re both relatively high status youtubers and their collab would be Powerful

then, summoning all his courage, simon dms baz on instagram with just a simple “hey, a lot of people are saying we should collab lmao”

“i’ve seen that” “heh uhm yeah” “maybe we could get to know each other and see if that would be a good idea” “yes! i’d love that”

and they do. they get really close and stuff,, but people don’t exactly...see that

you see, on twitter, they get in millions of arguments. people genuinely think that they hate each other to some extent, when in reality, they’re swooning at the sight of the three dot bubble

baz, on twitter: “you cannot tell me that people actually enjoy sparkling water. it’s trash, move on” (they had an argument over it, privately, and baz is making it public to cause a rise out of simon bc he finds angry simon cute)

simon, in response: “yo I’m throwing you in the trash as we speak. fuhhhck u”

so, when they collab for the first time, everybody at home is just like *shocked pikachu emoji* they end up doing a video where simon bakes baz’s mom’s recipe of cherry scones with baz. it’s kind of a big deal bc both simon and baz don’t want to ruin baz’s memory of his mother

in the end, baz tears up and gives si a big ass hug because they’re perfect, simon. i love them, thank you. the fans start shipping. hard. it’s simon’s highest viewed video

that surprise hug is also what makes simon realize that his feelings are much deeper than attraction and surface level forms of knowing someone

on baz’s channel, they were going to film a video where they talked about their experiences being queer, but then simon realized that his biggest, most prominent example was staring at baz’s jawline, so he had to be like “uhhh, actually, I’m not really comfortable with that yet” which is part true. instead, they do a video where they have argumentative discussions, like on twitter but in depth and with less insults

anyways, they receive pretty positive feedback on the videos, people enjoy them, so they decide to do more. also, they both live in LA, so it’s actually pretty easy to do them, plus they have a diverse area to do them in

also, i think it’d be nice to mention that simon will sometimes do twitch streams of him playing minecraft and then he puts edited versions on his channel. it’s worth mentioning because during this one stream, he ends up slipping up and saying “we talk a lot, actually. and i—i like him a lot” about baz, then he blushes like hell because i really just said that and it’s live oh god

all the while, baz and simon actually just start hanging out (without hiding behind wanting to do a video). one meet-up, they go to disney world and halfway through baz is like “uh, should we be filming this?” and simon gives him a smile and replies, “no” because that moment is for them and them only + the fans who see them together and ask for a picture/just take pictures of them being like a couple

their next collab is a bit of a fun one. behind the scenes, pen, ag, si, and baz all become friends, because of that one time baz came over while penny was there and he barely payed attention to simon, too busy talking to penny. anyways, they do a big four person collab where agatha basically teaches them how to do makeup

on penny’s channel, it’s book related. they have to do a look based on the synopsis’ of each other’s favorite books. baz gets simon, simon gets agatha, agatha gets penny, penny gets baz. baz: “snow, you’re holding it wrong. it’s like this” simon: *stares longingly at the brush that gets to touch baz’s face*

okay so agatha and penny are just like: “these idiots need to get together already” because it’s very obvious that they like each other. like the eiffel tower in paris, you can’t miss it. everyone watching the videos also sees it, so you can imagine the comments

during one of si’s live-streams (he’s playing the hunger games minigame on minecraft), the chat goes wild because baz pops in. he plans on surprising simon with a picnic (he just thought that they could go into simon’s backyard or the park that’s a few miles away), but it was pretty spur of the moment so he didn’t think about simon doing a stream. and to be honest, simon’s stream was also spur of the moment, so it’s not like he made sure to tell baz about it

“simon! hey, i let myself in!” baz called from the front doorway. the chat is freaking because: “is that baz???” “omg baz has a key to simon’s house!!” “are they dating???” simon kind of just freezes up and starts sputtering as he reads the chat and tries to reply to baz

Last replies before I move to my dorm tomorrow! Prague, here I come. 

I’m in this weird state of freaking out and being calm at the same time. It’s hard to explain. It’s very different from how I felt the day before starting high school, I remember crying about how badly I don’t want to go there. As for today, I’m actually looking forward to the classes. Especially the history ones. Oh my god, and I’ll see my new friends again on Thursday! Maybe even tomorrow, but I’m not counting on that. I’m so exciteeeeed.

I don’t think I can give you any updates on my sims saves at the moment. I played a bit of Roses (finally!), a bit of my Realm of Magic save, a little bit of NSB...but mostly I just recoloured stuff. I’ll release it for simblreen I think, even though it’s not Halloween themed at all. For one of the tops I’ve even taken the preview pictures and the only “spooky” thing about them is that they were taken in Forgotten Hollow. But oh well. I mean, at least you’ll be able to use my simblreen treats all year!

Something I had to do in TS3 when I attempted something like this was remove almost EVERYTHING that was fun to get them to socialize at ALL. Because they would rather do something fun than talk. Before that, I would manually tank their social so they would have a NEED to talk. Yeah, it's kind of cheaty but, jeeeeesh.

Here’s a tiny spoiler: I moved the whole BC household to Twinbrook, which is most definitely smaller than St Claire (and, being an EA world, it has to be somewhat optimalized to run on all PCs I believe)...and suddenly my high free will is working, there are interactions between the sims...I love that! Wish I had realized that earlier though, it could’ve made the BC more interesting. Oh well, it was a learning experience. I might do another BC in the future. Keyword might. It definitely won’t happen next month.

that sounds horrifying. my university is so small that some courses are self study cause it's very possible you're the only one taking it (love that). i'm taking a course in chinese though, and we're over 40 ppl on the course and it's kinda terrifying.

I’m going to the oldest and I think the biggest university in my country, so yeah, so far quite a lot of my experiences have been terrifying because there’s just SO MANY PEOPLE EVERYWHERE. I signed up for an optional class today though, and so far there’s six of us. But for the other ones, there’s about 20-40 students in every group, and then there’s one lecture where there’ll be 250 students. It IS scary.

Gen 6 of the Roses was pretty fun, and I especially liked Lydia (even before I got to make a spouse for her)

Ahh...I really, really want to love gen 6 as much as I love gen 4. If anything, the storylines (especially Regan’s) are so much better than anything og gen 4, and I’m proud of them. But I guess it’s kind of like dating a new person while still missing your ex. You love them but you miss what you had before. Which totally makes sense coming from a person with zero dating experience.

To me, it’s not about having a partner. Actually, loving someone regardless of romantic feelings is way more important, in my opinion. These things can co-exist, and loving a friend is just as important loving a lover.

The lack of it can hurt, especially being forced out of it. But feeling love? I don’t know. It’s one of the most beautiful feelings ever. I feel so lucky to be surrounded by it.

the (rou)sseau-cial contract

Uhhh, hi??? Sorry for not updating in, like, two weeks, school has got me very busy. Big sad. Oof. A n y w a y s. Onto today’s topic!!! Rousseau, our favorite angsty boy, the epitome of “It’s not just a phase, Mom.” Honestly, though, Rousseau is an… interesting character, to say the least. 

Unlike his peers at the time of the ~ Enlightenment period ~, Rousseau hated but also did what they did??? IDK, it’s confusing. He’s a hypocrite, but we’re not here to discuss that. Well, we kinda are?? But let’s just get to the philosophy.

He looked to the ~ state of nature ~ as a guide to LiFe, just like several other people of his day, ie Locke and Hobbes. Still, unlike Hobbes, he thought that “uNcOrRuPtEd MoRaLs” would prevail in the state of nature. But, unlike Locke, he also thought that society wasn’t that great.

Rousseau talks about the stages of human development, from the “brute animal” stage to the “decadent civilization” stage. Shockingly enough, he’s like “primitive man was great!!!” I mean, all the more power to him, but...uh. Yeah. It kind of makes sense, though, since he talks about how primitive men were both stupid enough to not be cruel, but also not dumb enough to be able to say “I’m not like the other animals.” 

Rousseau actually was the OG environmentalist!! He believed that the more people deviated from this “primitive man” in the state of nature, the worse off humanity would be. He believed that men would be “noble savages” in the state of nature, and that instinct and emotion, when not distorted by ~ civilization ~, are nature’s vOiCe and are instructions to The Good Life™. 

This “savage” stage was not the first s t a g e of human development, but rather, the third. He thought that this third savage stage of human societal development was an optimum. His view was that morality was not from society, but rather “innate”. 

Our boi really valued “mediation”, which is the processes where individuals interact with themselves and others using alternative perspectives. These were developed through the “innate perfectibility” of humanity. Basically, he thought that one needs an alternative perspective to come to the realization that they are a “self”. 

Society is a scourge because it transforms our “positive self-love” into “pride”. The positive sElF-lOvE is the instinctive desire for self-preservation combined with the human power of rEaSoN!!!!!!! Pride, though, is artificial, and encourages man to compare himself to others. This fuels unnecessary t o x i c competition.

Ironically, he argues that the arts and sciences have not been beneficial to humankind, even if he is using the support of the “arts” to fuel his own art????? (Rou)sseau-metimes, I just don’t get him. Anyways, he argues that the arts and sciences have risen from pride and vanity. They are especially bad because they create opportunities for luxury and idleness, thus contributing to the ~ corruption ~ of man. 

The progress of knowledge has crushed individual liberty, apparently, and material progress has undermined the possibility of true(?) friendship by replacing it with jealousy, fear, and suspicion. I am confusion. Uhhh, but still, Rousseau says that society corrupts men only insofar as the Social Contract hasn’t succeeded. 

In the very, very beginning, there was a society with minimal differences in wealth and status among families, so that there isn’t really any jealousy. If things stayed this way, it would have been fine. However, the rich and powerful made a flawed Social Contract (like the Hobbesian one...oof), which tricked the general population into surrendering their liberties and instituted inequality as a ~ fundamental ~ feature of human society. 

As society developed, with the division of labour and stuff causing people to be dependent on each other, economic inequality was exacerbated and pressured people to undergo a ~ psychological ~ transformation. Since people need other people to like them, since they are interdependent, they began to see themselves through the eyes of others and came to value the good opinion of others as essential. 

The only solution that he offered was to just cultivate??? Virtue??? And to submit to their lawful rulers. Basically, it was too late for this society and its Social Contract. Instead, people needed a new and more equitable Social Contract, even if he didn’t specify how that would come about or be made. Oof.

first of all, anon, marry me right now immediately, im love u ive been dying to talk about these

okay so if you ask me what basis literally any of these have in canon i’ll have no answers but heres some of my personal faves i’ve come up w!! these are HCs im more or less using in a fanfic ill,,, one day actually write... instead of just... awkwardly mentioning it all the time  haha end me writing is hard

im gonna limit my lampy hcs to five because i really do have so many more than that i just love him so much kjdfhgdjkhfg

1. lamp boy? trans guy. at the time niko’s there and all The Nonsense happens(tm) he hasnt chosen a name or anything so hes just kinda The Lamplighter (occasionally he’ll panic and just say plight if someone, like, asks him for a name. nobody’s really connected the dots that its just lamplighter or if they have, they don’t want to mention it) maybe it’ll just stick or he’ll actually come up with something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ for now, that’s just his title2. he has, exactly one(1!) time made the slip-up of calling Kip mom, either because she was worrying about him or whatever, and she hasn’t let him forget it. she sends him plants and books and helps him out whenever he’s asked to repair something he hasn’t encountered before. if you ask him about it, he’d say it’s dumb (but wow she’s a lifesaver!!) 

3. even on his day off he needs to be doing something, whether its just wandering around or trying to figure out how the heck to solve a rubik’s cube or whatever else. he finds idle time really stifling even when he could be sleeping. he probably would love things like stim toys just so he has something to do with his hands like tbh (imagine how powerful he’d be if he had like. video games. multitask level: ultimate) 

4. since he’s super sleepless, most likely malnourished as hell, and definitely vibrating from caffeine at any given moment he doesn’t have the best memory at all. like. sure he’ll remember the radio station of something he used to listen to like 9 whole years ago that doesn’t exist anymore but if you ask him to remember like.. where he’s supposed to be in an hour? no. ask him to remember someone’s name??? no. he’s just. not going to. ever. it’s a fact of life. however, to try and curb that, he’s gotten SUPER GOOD at keeping lists of everything to accomplish in a day, where, what time, etc and sticking to it. the day he loses his pocket notebook is the day the world ends. 

5. this is more of a,,, self-insert, unrelated romance headcanon but. listen. hes the most disaster bisexual to ever walk this earth. humans beware. he has really really low standards so like if you ever show him any care/concern chances are he'd die for you and also screw up any everyday conversation. HOWEVER,  he's also quite dumb. like. someone could legitimately walk up and confess their undying love to him outright and he'd be just talking to kip one night like 'okay so this guy i like said he was like, madly in love with me right? do you think he wants to like... go out on a date or was he just being nice? is that how friends are these days? i mean like we held hands once and we got coffee and now this, wow.’ 

‘that was a date, dear. what you just described was a date.’

 okay now onto World Dad, whom I love but would also fight in a back alley because what the heck, guy. i really dont have too much on him tbh like it’s more Vague Theories than actual headcanons so im just going to dive into the juicy stuff first

1. i like to think that the major characters are, for the most part, extreme in one trait (kip = mom friend. george = all 6 personalities are different parts of one person. ling = nicest ever. lampy = workaholic, etc) because that’s just how the author remembers them. as well, the world kept getting smaller population wise as the other people were forgotten / their code just kept getting smaller. (but like that’s also really sad oh no)

2. i also like to think his fantasy stories are literally just like... fanfiction of his travels and the friends he’s met, maybe with different names/places. either as a way to remember who he met there or to just share the memory with a lot of people

3. he’s from earth! or alternatively, a very near-earth place, maybe one that’s more advanced (but still runs win95 for some reason)

4, it’s mentioned that he doesn’t like working on AI and i think why that is is because he has a tendency to accidentally give anything he touches like.. full sentience. im sure everyone would love a sentient roomba but. oh dear. that’s too scary. (also a big contributing factor to that is probably like.. idk.. the whole nonsense with the entity) not a headcanon but real talk wheRE DID HE GO how did hE DO THE SALTSTICE UPDATE IF HES FLOATING INDEFINITELY IN THE VOID

Masked- Ch. 3. (Shalaska)

 A/N hi everyone! sorry it took me so long to update, I was quite busy! I hope you enjoy this chapter, all feedback is welcome! xx -Anna

Sharon was surprised at how easy it was to spend time with Alaska. Her anxious thoughts were long gone, instead she was fully focused on the girl next to her. They talked, laughed and Sharon didn’t want it to end. 

„Uhhh Shar, look, sunset!“ Alaska exclaimed and smiled widely like a child as she moved towards the edge of the roof for a better view. Sharon couldn’t help but to smile back, especially at the new nickname Alaska created for her. „Come here!“ Alaska said full of excitement as she made herself more comfortable. Sharon sat next to her, but instead of looking at the sunset, she was looking at Alaska. Her blonde hair looked golden under the rays of sunshine. Her soft face was illuminated with the golden hour glow. She was lazily smiling as she closed her eyes and tipped her head back as if to absorb the warmth and light. When she opened her eyes Sharon was still looking at her, not even trying to be subtle anymore. „What?“ Alaska asked smiling. „I just can’t get my eyes of off you.“ Sharon replied instantly, the blush slowly creeping up her neck as she realized how forward she was. She kept looking at Alaska as the girl chuckled and looked away. „Stop flattering me, you’re too nice.“ Alaska said as she turned her head back to meet Sharon’s gaze with her smiling dark brown eyes. „Tell me more about yourself, I know nothing except you’re beautiful and your name.“ Alaska blushed again and started talking about her family and life before boarding school. Sharon kept smiling, she didn’t want Alaska to stop talking. She had a slight vocal fry, drawing out the syllables at the end of the sentence. Many people would find it annoying, but Sharon found it quite endearing, she enjoyed more and more in the sound of Alaska’s voice, soothing her nervous mind and canceling out the mean voice in her head. When she was with Alaska she felt happy. Happiness. She couldn’t remember when was the last time she was as happy as she was now, laughing, joking around and enjoying herself. „Can I tell you something?“ Alaska asked Sharon, pulling her out of her thoughts. „Yeah, sure.“ Sharon replied, starting to feel a knot tying in her stomach after hours of relaxation. I knew it, she hates you. She’s going to tell you that you suck and she’s never going to talk to you again, she doesn’t need you in her life, she doesn’t like you. The voice Sharon dreaded to hear was back and she was struggling to keep the calm exterior, starting to fidget with one of her rings. „I didn’t expect you to be so…“ Stupid. Annoying. Boring. Ugly. Weird. Creepy. „Chill. You know, cause everyone’s scared of you around here, you have a pretty big reputation, but you’re like, super cute and funny. You’re cool.“ Alaska finished her sentence and looked back in the distance, admiring the view as the sky changed the color from orange and purple to dark blue and black. Sharon was dumbfounded. She visibly relaxed after Alaska didn’t say what she thought she will, but now she was even more confused. She complimented me? She thinks I’m cool. And funny. And cute. Does she…like me? No don’t be ridiculous, no one likes you, especially not someone like Alaska. „Oh. Um, t-thanks, you’re pretty cool yourself.“ Sharon stuttered and immediately regretted her word choice. Alaska just laughed and said „You’re so silly. I like that.“ Sharon smiled at Alaska’s words, relaxed and leaned back, to get more comfortable, but also to sneak glances at Alaska, forgetting her anxious thoughts once again.

The next morning, Sharon woke up, stretching slowly, cracking the joints in her back and fingers. While was brushing her teeth she remembered her afternoon with Alaska yesterday and smiled. She truly can’t recall the last time she was so relaxed and carefree. All because of Alaska. As she got ready, the smile never left her face. She was looking forward to talking to Alaska again. Today she took some extra time to add a winged liner and spray her favorite perfume all over herself. Definitely not because of Alaska. No. Of course not. She smoked her first morning cigarette as she walked towards the cafeteria. It was a tradition for her and her friends to meet at the cafeteria before they went to classes and Sharon went god knows where. It gave them some time to chat and catch up with the previous day, exchange gossip and rumors before the exhausting school day. She entered the cafeteria and, as expected half of the students looked at her with awe and the other half didn’t even look up, instead their gaze was firmly fixed on the plate in front of them, their conversations quietly continuing. Sharon didn’t have to look around to know where to find her friends. Jinkx and Katya always sat at the table that was the furthest away from the entrance. Today was different. Sharon saw three buff football players at their table and saw Jinkx and Katya arguing with them, in what appeared to be a sad attempt to get them to leave. Trixie just stood next to them, awkwardly holding her books, not wanting to participate in a fight she knew she wouldn’t win. The football players seemed completely unfazed by their screaming, instead they were leaned back smiling at them, clearly enjoying the show. „Just you wait till Sharon arrives, she’ll kick your butts!“ Sharon heard Jinkx say as she got closer to the table. „Yeah, she’ll kick your butts!“ Katya repeated and failed to sound intimidating. „What’s all the fuss about?“ Sharon said with a stoic expression, but amusement evident in her voice. She loved when something like this happened, something to break the routine. „Oooouuuuhhh, Sharon’s here, she’s here, look at your butts cause she’ll kick them!“ Katya started squealing nonsense, English was her second language after all, and besides nothing she ever said really made sense, so no one around the table paid too much attention to her except Trixie, who giggled after Katya started jumping around clapping her hands. Sharon was still looking at the football players, her arms crossed on her chest, waiting for an answer. „Fuck off Sharon, and take your weirdos with you.“ the largest of the three players spoke not turning around to look at Sharon. His reply earned him laughs, „ooohhhs“ and  pats on the back from his friends. The fact he couldn’t see her Sharon took as her advantage, wrapping her forearm around his neck and leaning in to whisper in his ear. „Listen to me now, big boy. You may be buff and you may think you’re cool, but you’re clearly dumb for underestimating me.“ She tightened her grip around his neck as he was trying to push her arm away, his friends watching in complete shock. „You’re sitting at my table. Big mistake. You called my friends weirdos. Yet another big mistake.“ Sharon continued to hold her vice grip as the boys lips started to get light blue from the lack of oxygen. Her little show attracted a lot of attention, people getting up to stand on tables to get a better look or to record on their phones. Sharon was unpredictable so everyone was on the edge of their seats. „What you and your friends are gonna do now big boy, is you’re gonna pick your pretty little asses up and walk the fuck away from my fucking table. Understood?“ Sharon looked at the other two guys who were already collecting their things as they nodded without looking up at Sharon. „Good.“ She said as she finally released the grip around the guy, who immediately gasped for air and rubbed his neck. „See you around boys.“ Sharon said as she and her friends finally sat at their table. „Little bit too dramatic but worked out.“ said Jinkx as she took a bite out of her toast. „Whatever.“ Sharon said with a smile as her eyes searched the cafeteria. „Looking for that new friend of yours?“ Jinkx asked cheekily. „I don’t know what you’re talking about.“ Sharon replied and quickly looked down. „Sharon’s new friend? Uuuu who is it?“ Katya butted in as she stopped showing Trixie her gargling skills. „That’s disgusting.“ said Sharon, scrunching up her nose and doing her best to try to avoid talking about Alaska. Katya simply shrugged and said „Trixie thinks it’s cool. Right Trixie?“ Trixie laughed „I have to say yes, don’t I?“ „Yes, yes you do.“ Katya said proudly earning an eye roll from Sharon. „We’re not gonna let you walk away from this young lady. You know you can’t lie to me. Now spill.“ Jinkx demanded firmly. „There’s nothing to spill.“ Sharon was starting to get annoyed now. „Will you break the rule and bring her to our little clique?“ Jinkx was persistent. „I won’t bring her anywhere. I didn’t- I don’t have to explain myself to you.“ Sharon replied furrowing her brows and sighing. „Oh come oooon, at least tell us her name.“ Jinkx didn’t give up. „Alaska.“ Sharon said and regretted it immediately. „What? Like the state? That’s so weird, who names their kid after a state?“ Jinkx asked in confusion. „Maybe it’s the state she was conceived in.“ concluded Katya and continued „My name would be Russia then, oh my god can you imagine?“ Katya started laughing and flailing her hands around and Jinkx joined her soon after. „My name would be Washington!“ she said as both girls bursted into another fit of laughter. Sharon just watched them with an angry expression. She felt uneasy that the girls were making fun of Alaska. „Sharon what would your name be?“ Katya asked after she calmed down a bit. „It’s not funny, stop making fun of her.“ Sharon said with a cold voice. „Oh wow, someone’s protective. Don’t worry, we won’t steal your girl.“ Jinkx replied smiling. This made Sharon’s blood boil. She quickly pushed herself from the table and stood up. „I’m not protective and she’s not my girl, I don’t care about her.“ With that she walked away from the table and the cafeteria, cold morning air filling her lungs as she took a deep breath. She realized she did care. She knew Alaska for not even a full day and she felt the need to protect and defend her. „Good morning there.“ Sharon heard a familiar voice but felt an unfamiliar warmth around her heart. She opened her eyes and was met with Alaska’s big brown eyes looking right back at her. Her makeup was different today too. Yesterday she just wore mascara and eyeliner, today she had smoked out black eye shadow all the way up to her brow. On someone else it would’ve looked ridiculous but on Alaska it looked amazing. Her big plush lips were spread in a big grin, nude lip gloss applied carefully. Sharon wanted to smudge it and take it off with her own lips. Where did that come from? Sharon shook her head as she continued to admire Alaska’s appearance. Instead of wearing it in a bun, Alaska’s long platinum hair was neatly combed in a high ponytail, tied up with a white bow. Did she get dressed up for me? Of course she didn’t, don’t be stupid. Her uniform was still too big yet somehow it looked great on her. Sharon was sure if Alaska wore a trash bag she would still look beautiful. „Hi, yes, good morning.“ Sharon said after se realized Alaska was still waiting for her response. „Uuuh, love the liner, you should wear it every day, it really looks good on you.“ Alaska said still smiling. Sharon was taken back by her compliment. She wasn’t used to receiving compliments and she didn’t know how to reply to them with something other than nervous laughter and mumbling „Thank you.“ Alaska chuckled and continued the conversation. „Where are you going, the breakfast just started?“ „Um, yeah, I ate already, soo…I’m just gonna go…to the umm…“ Where are you gonna go? Hm? To your room and replay this conversation cringing at every wrong thing you said? Pathetic. Alaska laughed at her nervousness. Sharon felt stupid, being this nervous around a pretty girl, like she was in middle school again. But this wasn’t just any pretty girl. This was Alaska. She wanted to impress her, to show her she’s cool. She wanted Alaska to like her. „Someone’s still sleepy?“ Alaska asked after she stopped laughing. Her joking tone and soft expression calmed Sharon down. She never met anyone who had this effect on her. „Yeah I guess.“ Sharon replied smiling as she started to relax. „Cool, I gotta go, but I’ll se you around, yeah?“ Alaska said as she waved Sharon and walked past her to enter the cafeteria. Sharon didn’t know where this shot of courage came from but she turned around after her and said: „Alaska?“ Alaska turned around with a smile on her face, as if she was expecting Sharon to call back after her. „Yeah?“ „Do you…umm…do you want to hang out after school? There’s this cool bar downtown, so if you’d like…“ Sharon trailed off, fidgeting with the hem of her skirt. What did you just say?! Oh my god are you out of your goddamn mind?! She doesn’t like you, she’s gonna say no and never talk to you again! What were you thinking?? Sharon’s mind instantly filled with anxious thoughts. Alaska smiled widely. „Yes, I’d love to!“ she replied happily „Wait, downtown? How do you plan to leave the school grounds?“ The corners of Sharon’s lips turned up in a small smile as she replied: „I have my ways. I’ll wait for you in front of the dorms at 8. See you, doll“ She turned around on her heel and walked away. She was again her smooth, beautiful, elegant and masked self. A wide grin spread on her face. Good job, Needles.

Honestly? I don’t have a formal warm-up, but I definitely like to have my fingers all warmed-up and ready for lots of typing! I really need to get in the mindspace for the particular image/idea being portrayed, though.

I don't always need a warm up, but doing panel borders for HoK makes for an excellent warm up. It gets my brain switch gears to comic mode. Music is great, but I only turn it on for important moments (or illustrations outside of comic). There are certain moods that... recur in important moments in my story, and I have playlists for those. e.g. 'sad emotional intimacy'

Ffff I'm like that with dynamic shots where the perspective points are off the page, and I have to tape scrap paper to it, and sometimes my ruler isn't long enough. Working in a traditional medium can be such a pain in the ass sometimes. Lol

Top view perspective lines went way off the page, I hate it.

Anyways, that's my complaint for the day.

I guess since I have done it professionally as a 2d animator, and there is not really time to warm up, that I have learned to just start

I do warm ups for everything! though what I define as warmups depend on each creator. For me, it begins with stretches and sketching, ill doodle things i need to get out of my head so i'm not distracted by those ideas- they usually involve studies, certain character interactions, or thumbing out pieces I want to tackle later! I may sure to draw everyday to flex that too, so its also important to be able to relax those creative muscles with some pre-work!

also! my warm ups vary with what medium i work in. if Im working in watercolours, i practice fine pencil work and get my lines as loose as possible. when it's comic (so mainly inking) i do what I described above with character studies and what not

Because I usually finish off whatever I had been working on the day before, warmups for me are kind of the process of starting a new piece. All the sketching and thumbing to get my next idea out work pretty well for warming me up, and then I feel ready to go by the time I'm needing to do things like lines. I also get music going that fits the mood of what I'm working on, like lots of people seem to do! I also need to remember to do stretches more :/ And I usually get myself some kind of drink, tea or something, to keep me company while I work ;)

I actually read in a artist self care comic "Draw Stronger: Self Care of Artist" that you are supposed to stretch and stuff before you art so your body is warmed up for long periods of sitting. Things i draw before getting into main art, the one line challenge where you draw something using one line, gesture drawing warm ups, and always becuase it's something I recently been doing, is drawing a thumbs up on a page that I can erase later or keep in a sketchbook as in like "Good job "(edited)

If my brain isn't in "comics mode" and I need to get a page done...I find a nice secluded spot, sit down with the blank sketchbook, and stare at the empty paper until ideas start clicking into place. Unrelated sketches would be a distraction at that point -- same as checking twitter, just one more excuse for my brain to focus on something other than the page.

Used to do the seclusion in local restaurants( whether it's a nice place or just a plastic fast-food table), but obviously that hasn't been an option for a while :/
