Uh, New Story™ Rambling Post?

Just a random post of original story ideas I want to blurt out somewhere and get some feedback for if anyone wants to chat with me about OCs, ideas and yell about stories lmao

Will have picrews (with links), any art or notes, etc and will be updated as I go.

So we have these two main characters so far:

Their names?? I have no idea. But I do know the the first one goes by they/them and is the narrator and the latter is their love interest, a lady who partners up with them.

I'm thinking maybe the buddy-cop trope in a mystery, sort like the Sherlock Watson dynamic with these two.

As far as setting and atmosphere goes, I'm thinking maybe dark academia?? Definitely relating to magic, astronomy, gods, etc. I love playing around with the idea of eldritch powers beyond comprehension; that desire for knowledge and the unknown, I love settings that are filled with human curiosity and the result of both that innocent longing and that darker hubris that leads to grave mistakes.

I want the protagonist to be a sort of shy, stand offish person, but also hints that they're hiding something deep down. Maybe their perspective is that of an unreliable narrator and the story is told via their bias and lies?

As for the second main character, I could see her being a bit more open and honest. Maybe as she also helps the protagonist as a sort of moral weight that pulls them back from their lies. Or maybe even better of an idea could be the pros and cons of both, and how both characters wish they could be more like the other? An honest and kind woman who doesn't want to be so kind and open; who wants to be able to lie, meanwhile there is a character who feels compelled to lie and wishes they could just be open and reveal all that is burdening them.

Theme-wise, I'm thinking maybe a story that centres the idea of how progress can only be achieved through warmth and kindness, not judgement and coldness. Though that may change. I think, as usual with what I write, I'll end up sneaking in some themes about self love, mental health and healing from trauma. I especially love stories about becoming independent after feeling controlled, so I suspect I'll end up adding that as at least a minor theme throughout this story, if not all of the stories I write. It's a go to for me and something I love to explore and express through writing.

As far as the main conflict and potential twists, I already have in mind that the protagonist would have a connection to the mystery to some degree, particularly the idea that the protagonist's inner troubles are caused by the same thing/ person that caused the overall conflict. Meanwhile, I could see the second main character being their support and reassurance that they are more than their circumstances. I would also like to flip this down the line where the protagonist ends up doing the same for the second main character, their partner, when she goes through similar turmoil once her own inner conflicts are brought to the surface.

I don’t know if this is weird, but I don’t have many friends and I am weird, admittedly so…yolo, but this is just a diary post really of all the things on my mind right now.

• The response on ink & mistletoe was really lovely and I’m especially grateful for it while I’m still having a rough time.

• I really wanted to write more this week because I wanted to finish off ink & mistletoe and Truth & Talon before Onyx Storm comes out, but I have a migraine again and I’ve just been so exhausted it’s not happening, which sucks.

• I did start a new book though—my first of 2025—Just For the Summer by Abby Jimenez. One of my resolutions for the new year is to read more actual books, so I’m off to a start at least. One thing that wigged me out though, it’s first person past-tense? What the fuck is that, why are we doing that? My brain does not like.

• Speaking of Onyx Storm, should I start posting my theories now as I write them, or just save it for one big post a few days before?

• I’m still incredibly bothered by not only the continuing trend of oh surprise another special edition with content not available to you! But also mostly the response from other people to it, mostly Americans, because no one else is saying “no one’s making you buy them all” or “having choices is a good thing” because uhh *checks notes* we don’t? We just pay twice the amount of money you do for made-in-a-sweatshop, falling apart crap with less features.

• Also, just as an aside so you all are ready, I’m fairly certain there’s a special edition of Iron Flame coming…probably with bonus content. Someone asked if she was going to do one because it just had plain edges and she replied with a winking face. I’m going to say in Feb/March, and with dragon edges to match OS & the original FW print run. Call me Cassandra, idk.

• My (undiagnosed, I guess) OCD is getting worse, so if anyone has any tips or tricks for that throw them my way because seeing a psychiatrist in this town is not only the price of a small car, but almost impossible. Everyone’s books are closed, because we’re all a fucking mess apparently idk. They did say they had someone who might find me and my eclectic collection of mental illnesses “interesting” though, so I at least get to send my referral through 🙃

• Lastly, I am once again calling for people to stop drowning. If you come to Australia, please understand how rips work. If you’re not a strong swimmer, don’t swim anywhere there aren’t lifeguards. You are not as safe as you think you are, I promise you. Almost every day there’s been another drowning death that’s been entirely preventable and it’s infuriating, half the time there are kids involved. Don’t put your kids at risk for fuck’s sake. View the below if you’re curious (or coming here). I wouldn’t blame you if you couldn’t spot them from front on, most people can’t unless they grew up on the beach, but again, if you can’t that’s why you shouldn’t swim anywhere help can’t get to you. 31 people drowned in four weeks is madness when there are over 600 patrolled beaches in this country. And people worry about the wildlife, good lord.

Doomed Yuri uhh headcanons YIPPEE!!

Since Sarah probably has brain damage it takes her a HOT minute to process shit. Lilac has learned to be patient.

Sarah still gets frequent headaches (bless her) while Lilac still has muscle pain (Hety when I catch you Hety)

Lilac usually gets very loud around everyone else out of habit but when it comes to Sarah she makes an effort to quiet down, even whispering sometimes as to not accelerate Sarah's headaches smh.

People have occasionally mistook Sarah's bloodied eyes as her being high. (she finds it hilarious but Lilac takes GREAT offense to this.)

They borrow each other's belongings. (Ethan comments on this a lot)

Both of them are heavy sleepers (the place could literally be on fire AGAIN but they'd be napping together)

Sarah's vision is...not the best, so Lilac has to use her one good eye to see for her.

Spark - Loser by Neoni. It feels like a song about someone who feels like they're a loser and they're useless, and they push everyone else away due to that, but in the end they just really want someone to be there for them

Rowan - This is Hone by Cavetown. That song just feels like someone who's a tad lost on who they're meant to be but still knows that some people love them, and idk that's kinda Rowancore wrt the later parts of the Hibernation Arc

Fern - That's What I Want by Lil Nas X. It's the yearning 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 but also just a particularly desperate kind of yearning. You know what you want and you should know how to get it but no matter what you can't reach it, yk?

Dew - Too Sweet by Hozier. I've ranted abt this one On The Audio but yeah they're hesitant to get w Via because she's too sweet for them, and that hesitancy goes away as the song goes on (church bells etc etc)

Octavia - World's Smallest Violin by AJR. It's the thinking you're unremarkable it's the being unable to voice your own feelings it's the thinking you don't want to be like your friends too much it's just a pretty Via song (and it has musical connotations lmao that's an important bit)

Agate - Sunset on Summerville by Madds Buckley. It's a song about staying with someone even when they're going through tough times, what can I say lmao

Basil - Snow by Ricky Montgomery. THIS SONG. THIS FUCKING SONG. Maybe I'm misreading it since I'm tired and all but this song just feels like someone who WANTS to be forgotten, someone who laments their past and all their terrible previous decisions, but is determined to keep going and achieve their goals. And that's really Basilcore imo she wants Spark to bury the memory of her six feet in snow but she also wants to uphold Lavender (her sister)'s legacy and be an explorer.

Rowan - Respite by Toby Fox. Also a kinda subdued piano song but this one feels a but more like Rowan, maybe it's the way it feels more determined than It's Raining Somewhere Else? Like Mist's song is more about reluctance and exhaustion while Rowan's is more about resting after achieving a goal or smth idk I'm tired lol

Fern - Anyone Can Find Love (Except You) by Hkmori. Breakcore babyyyyyy. Yeah this one just feels like a panic attack so I gave it to Fern LMAOOOOO

Octavia - Girl Next Door by Toby Fox. It's another piano song because ofc it is, but this one is a tad more cheerful. It's just got a sort of kind vibe of "just an average girl" that Via kinda has, except she's not average at all, and the song wandering off as it goes on kinda feels like an allusion to that (because it is an allusion to that w Noelle lmao)

Agate - Finale by Toby Fox. Yes it's breakcore again except much less "Holy shit I'm having a panic attack" and much more "I'm going to save you whether you want me to or not". The intense heroic-ish vibe just feels like Agate's savior complex lmao

Basil - also didn't have one so uhhhh The Owl House Credits Theme. Idk it feels cheerful enough to kinda work for her general demeanor but also implies some letting go which LMAO

Chapter 5 Ravenbrooks kids

The group was in Cheyenne's house...they were all spying on Mr Peterson doing something with his house..until he turn and rush inside his house "What is bro up tho ?" Says Lacey , Browny says "I don't kn-" he stop what is saying when he see a cop officer going inside the house and come out with a bag full of coins.."What the fuck.." Cheyenne's says as they think...Mr Peterson come out the house after the cop left...he had a Talkie walkie and talked in it.."What he's he saying and to who he's talking ?" Says Browny.."I don't know." Says Melanie.."Maybe we can find out ?" Says Damon.."Good idea...for that well need two group...a research group and one who check on Peterson trying to discover who it is.." They all go inside Mr Peterson house...as Yavuz search around for the Talkie walkie...he found it...and hear a discussion.."We are not the only one spying on him.." He let the Talkie walkie at it's place so he wouldn't notice that it has been moved...now he feels a little anxious...what if Mr Peterson know that he's been there without invitation..? Right now he did'nt really care anymore...he just wanted to save innocents peoples...he goes to Cheyenne.."Cheyenne !! Cheyenne !! We are not the only one spying on him." Cheyenne says "Its probably the Inventors club..they spy on him too." Cheyenne says "Have you found something else ?" Yavuz say "I think that Mr Peterson could spy on The Inventors club with those Talkie walkie.." Cheyenne think and say "That means he could also spy on us so we have to be careful when we talk about something...we should make sure nobody hear us but like...really nobody..not even an animal.."

They continue making researchs as Lacey and Browny search stuffs around the house together.."I found...a key..but what it it for ?" Lacey say "Mmhhh maybe the basement ?" They go at the basement door and Lacey say"Nuh huh.." Browny look at her as he frown and say "Damn...this key is USELESS." Lacey think and say "Nuh huh shortie follow me." Browny is annoyed cause Lacey called him Shortie again but it makes him blush , they both find a door and opens it...with the key...they open it and...it's just water.."What the fuck we find a free pool." so i think the main thing about nancy is that shes just idk sort of selfish in a way even if she doesn’t like mean to be, she just is (and thats fine! character flaws are cool.)

like i can’t remember what episode but i know it was before barbs death she was complaining about how inconvenient will going missing is or some shit. which yknow not the best way to react to your brother’s friend going missing (yikes)

i think like barbs death is an obvious example of her being kind of selfish, but when she realizes oh shit barbs gone shes literally does everything she can to save her (also note thats when she got involved in wills whole situation)

she gets to kill the demogorgan and it feels good getting revenge for barb

but its still not enough her best friends gone but will isnt will got saved.

and idk i think thats sort of the reason why shes very distant towards mike (why do you get to keep yours and i have to lose mine?) obviously she cant be mad at will so she has to be mad at mike.

in season 2 she like very obviously does wanna be with steve because barb’s basically haunting that relationship. she cant look at steve without feeling bad about barb (not to mention she literally has meals with barb’s parents with him)

and the her and jonathan find some sketchy shit the governments doing and so nance is like maybe if i like expose this i can avenge her again and i can stop feeling guilty all the time so she does that and she feels good for awhile but its not permanent and before she knows it she feels shitty again

in season 3 she’s dealing with alot not only is she dealing with the guilt of barbs death now she’s dealing with the patriarchy (cant she catch a break)

another thing to add is how she selfishly plans to investigate the rat thing (i forgor what exactly it was) and gets herself and jonathan fired. and her whole argument with him which was genuinely so awful of her.

she has a cute little girl power moment with her mom (its weird tbh because on one hand slay feminism on the other its like girl 🤨)

and she starts investigating again then the mind flayers back and i genuinely think a part of her was like maybe if i kill it i can actually avenge barb this time.

then her and jonathan reconcile which btw she doesn’t apologize about her oliver twist comment (idk who to blame her or the writers)

but along the way mike argues with max and yknow instead of defending your brother like a normal sister, shes on maxs side. and its just heartbreaking to see honestly.

they’re literally siblings but they act like they only know each other through a mutual friend (if that makes sense) and i just know in some universe her and mike stop talking. she has a positive relationship with literally everyone in the party except her brother :(

oh and in season 4 her whole plan to kill vecna she was like hey this is the real bitch who killed her let me avenge her again so she makes a plan where she can be the one to kill him so she can be the hero it doesn’t work

(also note the fact that she doesn’t hug mike when they reunite)

idk if i did her justice with this ‘analysis’. idk my thoughts are really scattered when it comes to her also i haven’t rewatched this show in so long so

also wanted to say this i feel like the fandom has a really black and white sense of morality when it comes to the characters which is weird because whats the fun that like flaws make character’s really good also theres this added element of her being a girl and how girls are literally not allowed to be given flaws or else they’re immediately categorized as a bitch by people

Summary: we are being chased by monsters

She tells me that there are three most important people (literally like three princes of the floor)

One of them predicts my death in following days (monster and Prince has a part in it)

I am bold to challenge this and follow the same account of what my supposed death will ensue (idk I just wanna end it all from here I suppose)

Prince saves me??? Kinda??

I was just typing something when first suddenly my theme changed from light to dark/light/dark/light a few times which was already baffling

Next the app language suddenly changed to chinese/korean/chinese/korean (managed to take a screenshot while hurrying into the settings)

and while i was trying to 1) change back to english, 2) get into the right settings tab to log out any other devices and 3) change password to a safer one; some strange text in chinese was sent multiple times into the chat (tried looking it up but didnt find anything) along with some anime girl gif, some kpop boy gif and 2 cat gifs i had marked as favorites

THANKFULLY it was more scare than harm and I'd honestly wish to know what mistake caused this (was it really just a "not secure enough" password or did discord have security issues already or *are* hackers just getting more advanced or could my data be free flying somewhere for anyone to grab or what)

But just in case this'll happen to anybody else, start practicing navigating to these tabs as fast as possible (ESPECIALLY the Devices to log anybody else out asap) and also generally your Account > Password

I'm really not sure how risky Authorized Apps could be (I only had Patreon and "Not Quite Nitro" so idk if that's a risk; removed both) and Connections only had youtube and spotify; also removed those to be safe for now

I still keep going back into the Devices tab to be sure nobody returned, but I'm also figuring they were looking for people with Nitro memberships or connected bank data or anything and since I've got none of those right now, it was pretty useless (i hope so😭)

It's a bit boring tbh. It's a Jotaro episode, and I'm gonna be honest, I don't think Jotaro can carry an episode by himself. He's fun when he is with the rest of the cast, but kind of boring otherwise? I don't really hate him or anything. I just wish a bit more out of his solo episodes

Finally some good fucking conflict baby!! This is when Polnareff became a vivid character in my mind. Polnareff trying to fight the Hanged Man alone and Advol being the most upset by it the most makes sense for them. I guess Advol feels a bit betrayed because he has a lot of respect for the guy.

Polnareff gives a flimsy reason why him going alone is a good thing but you can tell later that he knows this is objectively the worse choice deep down, he is just too angry to care. Everyone knows this. Advol is the only one who thinks he can force him to not go (which does speak to his "holier than thou" additude a bit).

Later when Polnareff's arrogance bites him in the ass it's Advol who comes in to help him first. Polnareff saying this was to lecture him or prove him wrong is not entirely untrue. I'm sure that was a part of it. Ultimately though the main reason is because he doesn't wanna see him die. That's what I think, at least.

I was mad that they killed Advol early but I saw him in the thumbnail of some episodes later scrolling thru Netflix so uhh. We get to have more Advol later :D idk how tho.

This was around the time when I went in to check out the dub. I would have loved the dub for the first two parts if it weren't for the stupid. fucking. accents. This part doesn't have em. The dub's great y'all I reccomend it for sure. Also I swear I heard Advol's va somewhere else before.

Ep. 11

Another good episode for characterizetion, for Polnareff and Kakyoin this time. I'm glad the Joestars weren't in these episodes. Shrinking down the cast sometimes is good, builds their interpersonal relationships. One thing I'm worried about is how many Polnareff episodes we have gotten, I hope he doesn't die early.

Anyways, fight scenes were great. I especially like the shot where Polnareff gets his ass saved again. By Kakyoin this time.

I like Kakyoin a lot in this episode. He is definitely the guy with the most emotional intelligence. Back and forth between him trying to talk some sense into Polnareff vs Hol and the Hanged man taunting him was good.

I also like how he waits to get out of danger before breaking Polnareff's nose. That's some emotional maturity right there.

Now that Polnareff has calmed down, we can focus on defeating the stand users again.

Kakyoin repeating Polnareff's linea to him when they cornered is nice. It reminds me of how he said "I don't really know why myself" when the crew asked why he wanted to join them. Fun little detail.

Another detail is the crowd's faces wehn Joseph and Jotaro find Advol's body. I couldn't find a good place to mention that.

I should also mention Hol Horse. He is a cowboy. His stand is a gun. His last name is just Horse. When faced with the people he is suppose to kill he just runs away. He also steals the crew's car at some point. I would kill to see him and Dio interact. Truly one of the jjba characters of all time.

Ngl I ugly laughed at him running away at the end. They animated it so well too and for what.

Ep. 12

It was about time we got a Joseph episode.

Polnareff is tying to give Nena some advice about love and shit and he is just. not getting thru to her. This episode is when Polnareff officially became the silly one of the group.

I'm glad to see Joseph be his BT self again. Predicting people's lines and all. Sure, age has made him weaker (evenho he is still absolutely built), but it shouldn't make him stupider. I wish we saw his intelligence at play, outside of this episode.

Hermit purple is a cool stand and seeing it get utilized is always a treat.

This is the first time they show Hamon doesn't work on stands i think? I sort of assumed that was the case but this confirms it. Even with that, Hamon still has a lot of utility. It's weird to see Joseph not use it.

I guess the SPW foundation cleared his record after this. Honestly, I have no idea what they would to without it. Where would we be if it wasn't for Speedwagon's huge crush on Jonathan.

Ep. 13

This is one of my favourite "stand user of the day" episode so far. The stand is fucking sick, the group has good chemistry together. From Polnareff being and idiot to Jotaro and Kakyoin's banter.

My main complaint is that they brought the girl back. I sang praises about her earlier and they took that personally ig. She is only in this episode too. I just don't see the point. Did she need to have a crush on him? One thing I liked about her was seeing Jotaro interact with a stranger that 1. didn't try to kill him 2. Wasn't smitten by him. She leaves after this so it doesn't even matter tham much but y'know.

Ep 14 and 15

I joked about the fog being a stand earlier i didn't think they'd actually go for it. It's definitely a creative one.

Is Polnareff not knowing the stand user and trying to befrend them gonna be a trend? I'm here for it 100%.

Something about Jotaro referencing Columbo delights me.

I don't have much to say about these two episodes. I found them pretty entertaining but not much to note about. Other than Polnareff licking the toilet.

And this is it i'm pretty sure. These take a lot of time to write but I like journaling my thoughts. Mostly for myself, aslo for my 3 mutuals.

We'll probably get a Kakyoin episode soon. He hasn't used his main stand ability at all since episode 2. I get why, but it's a bit of a shame.

okay so. you know the main suspense in the original was the last two lines!! to save or raze olympus or something idr

the hoo prophecy had SO much potential with that line to storm or fire the world must fall. like. this isn't even olympus anymore this is the WORLD. if the gods were wary with the first prophecy then... imagine this one??

that line wasn't a surprise as it unraveled because piper had already said it. and they all decided it was final, but like. it would've been so cool if they'd gone into the destructive side of it.

ESPECIALLY that scene in the beginning of BoO when jason meets beryl. that is the only time we've seen him come close to snapping, and even then (alas) he reigns it in. maybe if we saw a little of it from someone else's perspective. or when he calls zeus 'unwise.' there could be more tension because they wonder if he's going to turn.

and i've stated this before but just make leo's fatal flaw revenge it works so fucking well. he kills the primordial who ruined his life. he meets the goddess of revenge. seven years later and he still has fresh hate for aunt rosa (understandably). just... yes.

throw in percy too actually. everyone's worried about percy definitely being it-- esp. with tartarus-- until jason loses his shit with beryl (i changed my mind he should go batshit then. give us a character rick please.)

just. piper accurately predicting the prophecy all the way in HoH is so annoying. i want to be in suspense. thats what made pjo exciting! piper should predict something completely different to throw us all off actually. like. storm or fire refers to one of them killing the other IDK.

not to mention i do wish jason was a bit more involved with the ending rather than just a foil to leo (as much as valdez bbg deserves that) because in BoO there is literally a thought he says where "whatever i am, im the blood of olympus." which should be foreshadowing for something because thats the goddamn title of the book & also demigod blood is pretty important here in general (helps gaia raise, right?). but it wasn't. 'storm and fire' at this point give us a valgrace boss fight (leo + festus vs jason) and make them kiss too

i do 100% love that leo finished off gaia because that just makes sense to me but. would've been fun if the plan went wrong. if there wasn't a guarantee. HIGHER STAKES PLEASE. I DONT WANT A SECURE BACKUP PLAN I WANT IT TO BE TERRIFYING AND FULLY CHANCE

also the ending troubles me the most because. where was the twist??? the unexpected ending??? the scene (+ theme[s]) that ties the series together???

off the top of my head uhhh betrayal/broken promises would be a good spin-off on the original pjo series. except the original is about upholding those promises this could be about breaking them.

my case: the gods' promise to percy & annabeth (broken!); i'm pretty sure something between sammy and hazel was left unfinished too; jason's promise by his mom; piper laying fake promises with charmspeak all the time; leo carrying on sammy's promise to help hazel (theres a scene i believe) + his promise to himself to never use fire again which he consistently breaks(that ones a long-shot); frank's a son of mars, mars is all about promises, duty, so that one's interesting because i can't really think of a certain event where he breaks it. im sure we could find something though.

but soo uhh adds new level to an oath to keep with a final breath

so POINT IS let the promise be something between leo and jason (i very much love keeping them as the centre-point of things) maybe, said off-hand and not considered but it comes up in the end. and in the end, maybe that can be a trigger. for idk.
