It’s just so funny to me that they accuse us of being toxic when our arguments compare like this:
Elriel: “I think they’re endgame because there’s books of foreshadowing, and I don’t like gw*nriel because there’s no build up and it feels like a mentee/mentor relationship.”
Gw*nriel: “I think they’re endgame because they both have trauma and should be mates, and I hate elriel because Elain is stupid, unworthy, and boring.”
Do they seriously not see the difference? Jfc
#elriel#pro elriel#anti gw*nriel#I’m being a bit hyperbolic but I seriously just saw this type of argument on tiktok and I was speechless#literally just on tiktok someone was ranting about how Elain is boring and isn’t deserving of Az#and that Gwyn’s trauma is way more than Elain’a and that Elain’s trauma is nothing in comparison#like I didn’t realize this was the trauma Olympics??#and since when is a cauldron-made seer boring#how is a king slayer boring?#ugh I truly dislike people sometimes

The way haters just boil Annabeth's character to just insulting Percy and not seeing theres more to her really shows how much they dont get her. Honestly Percy would hate them for this...
thanks for the ask @emilia9622!
agreed completely. like if you want to dislike a character, go for it. but don’t lie to yourself. don’t base it all off of one thing or flaw and make it 100x bigger than it is.
for instance, i don’t like luke. but it’s for a multitude of reasons. he knowingly betrayed all his friends several times, fought a deadly war against them, and intentionally poisoned the camp. he was percy’s first friend at camp and was a mentor to him, but had no issues lying to him and deceiving him. he literally was fine with the idea of 12 year old little percy being dragged down to tartarus. he also let annabeth be kidnapped and forced to hold up the world. when he finally saw thalia alive, he fought her and tried to harm her. yes i know that there is very complex trauma and history that led to all his actions, and i really do feel so bad for him, but i can’t respect someone who betrays his close friends like that. no matter what. i could go on and on, and don’t get me started about him having romantic feelings for annabeth… UGH. but that said, i understand why people love his character. he’s complex and has a lot of really good history. he also has a wonderful, yet tragic, redemption at the end. he really deserved better. i don’t have love for him, but his character deserves love. i’m happy that there are people to love him so that i don’t have to, because i have personal reasons for not liking him. i think luke is an amazingly well written character and i think rick wrote him beautifully. the truth is, besides the singular part where he admitted he had feelings for annabeth, i wouldn’t change anything about him or his story. so personally, i don’t like him, but i think he’s a great character and objectively, i can see why people love him.
it’s okay to dislike a character. but don’t pick their biggest flaws, strip away all the good parts of the character, and fool yourself into believing that’s all they are. (and then continue to go on tumblr and scream about how toxic and terrible the character is 🙄)
this is what “people can’t handle complex characters” actually means. people often throw that phrase around. people say that about readers not liking jason all the time, but the truth is, people are fully entitled to not like jason. it doesn’t make sense to me, because i LOVE jason. he’s my cutie patootie. but the people who dislike him simply don’t like him. they don’t usually make him out to be someone he’s not, they just don’t like him for who he is. they often just don’t find him interesting enough to break down the more complex parts of his character. it breaks my heart, and i don’t understand, but that’s okay. they just don’t like him. there’s nothing else to it. most annabeth haters, however, make her out to be someone she’s not and then proceed to hate on that one self-generated version of her. it’s so toxic. THAT is not being able to handle a complex character
no, annabeth is not perfect. if she was, she would be unrealistic, and people would hate her for that too. yes, she has excessive pride. she tends to think herself above others, and yes that even includes percy at times. but you know what? she admitted to having that issue all the way back in book 2. she was literally 13 when she explained to percy what hubris is and how it’s her biggest downfall. she’s a self aware queen. she knows it’s an issue and she works hard to correct it in little ways and make sure the people around her, especially percy, know she values them and their opinions. anyone who read the heroes of olympus series unbiased and got to read her POV knows that annabeth holds percy in the highest regard. she respects the hell out of him. even though sometimes she says things that aren’t nice, she doesn’t truly feel that way and always corrects it in some way. she’s not selfish, she’s just tragically intelligent, and it naturally gives her a bit of a complex. it wouldn’t make sense if it didn’t.
and i love her for it. the fact that she has a real flaw that can affect relationships, but that she is self aware of and actively works on, makes her legit one of my favorite characters ever. she’s SO realistic.
but people take that one flaw and make it her whole character. they call her cold and harsh, when in reality she’s one of the most warm and sensitive people in the series. she takes care of her friends. she’s strong and she’s often the leader, but it’s because she’s so loving and kind all the time. she works hard and looks out for everyone. she makes friends fast for a reason. she’s a wonderful person. she’s so, so sweet, and it breaks my heart that people choose to take that away from her.
anyway, sorry i just word vomited so much. basically i agree 100%.
#sorry for the word vomit#whoops#pjo#annabeth chase#jason grace#percy jackson#heroes of olympus#answered#riordanverse

You're An Idiot…My Idiot
——————
Pairing: Hermione Granger x Fem!Reader
AU: Reader is a Ravenclaw
WARNING: Injury and awkward fluff
——————
Third Person P.O.V:
7th Year
Hermione sat in the bleachers with Luna as they watched the final Quidditch game of the season before the Championships. People cheered and booed all around them as they watched the Gryffindor VS Ravenclaw game.
Ron and Harry sped over the stands they kept their heads in the game, Harry soon took off towards another area as Ron stayed near the goal.
A flash of blue almost smacked Hermione in the face as it went by, but the familiar scent of a certain Ravenclaw made her eyes roll.
Y/n Y/l/n.
What was there to say about such a girl?
They weren't the best of friends, but they weren't enemies either. It's more like an artful dance of flirting and annoyance that they both have mastered around each other.
Hermione despised her arrogant and cocky attitude, with a fiery passion. The way she walked around like her shit didn't stink, always sent the Gryffindor up a wall.
Yet Y/n seemed to make it her life's mission is spin around the drain of Hermione's inner circle, almost like she wanted to be sucked into her presence even more.
The brunette wouldn't let that happen, just because Y/n was attractive, didn't mean Hermione had to give her a seat in her lifestyle.
"Y/n is very much showboating this game," Luna says as she watches her team zigzag around the field.
Hermione watched as the y/h/c girl seemed to be making a show as she chased after the golden snitch. She dodged wooden beams and pillars as she followed it closely, Harry was on her tail but seemed to be lagging behind.
"When doesn't she showboat?" Hermione grumbled as the blonde beside her gave a dreamy laugh.
"I've never understood your dislike for Y/n, I understand she can be a bit much, but she seems to genuinely enjoy your company," Luna says as people cheer around them because of a Gryffindor Chaser scoring a goal.
"She is so sleazy! Why would I entertain that type of person with my time?" Hermione says, to which Luna just shrugged. Her eyes looked at the brunettes for a moment but then flicked back to the game.
The tense grit in her jaw, how straight her back was, and the fiddling of her fingers gave Hermione away quite easily.
Luna had begun to spot Hermione at every Ravenclaw game since the beginning of the fifth year. It didn't matter if Gryffindor was playing or not, she never missed a game.
There had been a rumor going around that Y/n and Hermione were seen talking in an empty hallway, and it looked more like flirting than actual conversation.
Those rumors were quickly thwarted when everyone saw them back in their bickering behavior in the coming days.
"You fancy her" she states.
Hermione's eyes widened at the statement. That was outlandish! She had never felt any romantic feelings for Y/n!
Well...
Ugh, she couldn't believe she had been figured out by one of her friends, and that she had actually fallen for the Ravenclaw's charms!
It was humiliating, honestly.
Y/n had caught her alone in an empty hallway sometime at the early start of the fifth year. It had been normal, for the most part. Hermione rolled her eyes and scoffed at every pickup line she tried, but then she said something that caught her off guard.
"I need your help"
Y/n had never been one to ask for help, EVER.
So, to hear it come from her mouth was almost like hearing the devil say 'please'. It even made her slack-jawed in awe from hearing it as they stood in that empty hallway.
The Ravenclaw soon pulled out her grades from last year and showed Hermione that she had completely failed Alchemy the entire year.
She was being forced to retake it.
Hermione had shifted from foot to foot in the debate about whether she should help her greatest annoyance.
"Please Hermione, you're the smartest girl I know...and I truly need your help"
Something changed in the Gryffindor's heart, maybe because of the overzealous ego that Y/n seemed to be missing at this moment, or how she started to notice how beautiful her eyes were in the sunlight.
"Alright, alright. Meet me in the dungeons after dark, I'll help you."
Hermione then smiled at her. Another historic moment for the two, Y/n almost wanted to take a picture. If only she had a camera on her...
That was years ago now, and both had been meeting up in the old Potions classroom every night to study or just talk.
Y/n acted completely different when they were alone, so soft and caring. Her smile wasn't cocky, and her laugh was light and airy.
So, you could imagine when Hermione started to be pulled in by her charms.
"That's ridiculous!" Hermione replied with a face as scarlet as a letter, Luna just chuckled and looked back onto the field.
Harry and Y/n flew side by side as they chased after the snitch, both had grins on their faces as they tried to outmaneuver one another.
They were good friends, both having practiced together many times during their time at Hogwarts. They were the best of the best when it came to school level, and Hermione wouldn't be surprised if Y/n went on to be a professional.
Y/n flew to the other side of Harry as they slipped past the high-rise stands. Hermione was sure that one of them was going to kick someone in the head.
People began to murmur as they saw the Beaters looking around frantically. They seemed to have lost sight of the Bludger. Never a good sign.
"Bouncing Bludger!" People called out as a warning.
Harry suddenly ducked down as he heard a loud zipping noise headed his way. He obviously had flashbacks to the second year when he broke his arm because of one.
Sadly, Y/n didn't take in the noise before it was too late. A collective gasp took over the crowd when the ball smacked into Y/n's side at high speed, knocking her off her broom and slamming her into the walkway between the bleachers and railing.
She skidded for a few moments her body rolling and slamming onto the ground as friends and teammates ran/flew to her aid immediately. Harry watched in anguish as he saw his friend lay on the floor of the bleachers, unmoving.
"Oh my god," Hermione whispers as she pushes her way down to the main floor with Luna on her heels. People murmured around them as Madam Hooch ran to Y/n's side and checked her over.
"We need to get her to Hospital Wing, any able-body boys, I need you to carry her!" she yells as Ron lands beside them and drops his broom.
Hermione shoved her way through the crowd, whispering quiet apologies as she basically elbowed everyone in front of her. Luna held the back of her shirt as she followed in her wake.
When they finally broke through the barrier of people, Ron slowly picked her up into his arms. Y/n looked so fragile as her arm dangled.
Hermione stood there, staring as Ron walked away with Madam Hooch in quick steps. People's whispers seemed to get louder when she began to follow close behind them.
Harry flew down near the railing and called out to his female best friend as he followed beside her. Yet, she completely ignored him and everyone else as she stared at Y/n's head, which was lobed over the edge of Ron's forearm.
Luna stayed back and watched Hermione's actions with a knowing look. The way her body was loose and nervous, yet she just gazed at the unconscious Ravenclaw in her friend's arms like she was witnessing a car accident.
Hermione didn't know how to feel, or think.
Her body went into autopilot.
——————
She sat on the bench outside the hospital wing as friends, teammates, and some teachers went and checked on her. Y/n had woken up once, but Madam Promfrey quickly put her back to sleep due to the broken ribs and her groans of pain,
It was now almost one in the morning, everyone had gone to bed for the night. The only people in that part of the castle were the biggest rivals in the school.
Hermione's foot shook as she gathered the courage to get off this bench and finally walk in.
She was nervous to see Y/n in a state that wasn't what she was used to. To see her broken and bruised...was going to be foreign.
Quietly she stood up and walked towards the big doors, she slowly opened them, and they squeaked loudly.
Hermione cursed to herself as she decided to leave it open. Her eyes scanned the moonlit room to find only one occupant of the beds.
Y/n laid on her back as her chest rose and fell slowly. Her white school shirt showed that her sides were bandaged and tightly wrapped around her skin.
The Gryffindor carefully stepped closer as she watched for any sudden movements or to hear any discomfort leave Y/n's lips.
When she finally sat down on the chair beside the hospital bed and looked upon the Ravenclaw's face. She was peaceful, oblivious to the amount of pain her body was in.
Hermione didn't know what to do, or why she was even still up this late at night for someone she only knew in the dark.
Maybe that's why? Nighttime was the only place where they saw each other's true colors. Spoke without any malice or anger.
Her hand slowly laid itself beside Y/n's, her finger caressing the girl's knuckles. Silent affection, something only she would know about when day broke again.
"You've done it Y/l/n. You've got me under your spell...I hope you're proud" Hermione whispers as she stares her their hands, feeling how cold Y/n's hand is compared to hers.
"You're freezing" she whispers as she stands up and walks over to a cabinet full of blankets and other equipment.
"I don't know why Madam Promfrey insists on keeping the wing so cold!" Hermione grumbled as she grabbed a blanket and shut the cabinet closed with a small 'huff'.
When she walked back over, she unraveled the folded polyester and draped it across the injured girl. Her hands glided carefully around Y/n's sides to make sure the heat of her body helped her broken ribs heal a little faster.
Hermione leaned over her unconscious form as she carefully tucked the blanket around her, as she moved up towards her shoulders, their faces were almost nose to nose.
She leaned away slightly but stared for another moment as she noticed the bruises along her jaw and cheek.
"That fall did a number on you too" Hermione whispered as she reached up and took a hold of Y/n's chin, gently moving her head so she could get a better look at the purple marks.
She sighed softly and sat back in the chair, her legs crossing as she debated on what to do next. A big part of her wanted to stay, but another didn't want to put any more suspicion on their 'unlabeled relationship'.
Was it friendly or turning into more?
It was obvious that Hermione had grown quite fond of the Y/n under the cover of the dark, but was that truly who she was?
Or was the arrogant and cocky asshole during the day her true personality?
This question made Hermione want to rip her hair out. It was the only part that she couldn't get a clear answer on.
"You are so infuriating" Hermione mumbled quietly as she looked away and out threw the window. She could see owls flying out of the Owlry, their silhouettes dancing across the moon.
She heard a big intake of breath before a pained grunt came from Y/n. Hermione's eyes quickly fell back on her as she brought the chair closer to the bed.
"I know" she whispers as her hand reaches up and pushes away some hair that was stuck to Y/n's forehead.
It was quiet as Hermione calmed down Y/n by running her fingers through her hair. Watching as the Ravenclaw seemed to be craving her touch.
"You're such an idiot sometimes. Why don't you listen to your teammates?" She asks in an annoyed tone as she thinks back on the incident from many hours ago. Y/n silently groaned in pain as she nudged her head against Hermione's palm.
"You can't guilt me out of giving you a lecture once you wake up" she hums as her hand caressed Y/n's forehead, she could feel the heat radiating from it.
It's silent as Hermione does more than any rival should do, but she feels guilty that the Ravenclaw didn't have anyone who wanted to stay and watch over her during this.
"You need to find a girlfriend. I can't be the one to take care of you during times like this" she hummed quietly as she moved her hand away. Y/n groans again, whether, from the pain or the now sudden lack of contact, Hermione isn't sure.
"Then again...I'd more than likely come sit by you if this happens again" she sighed as she started to use unconscious Y/n as a therapist. It made her chuckle slightly about it.
"This is ridiculous! Why are you so charming to me now?" Hermione huffs in annoyance as she crosses her arms. A small hue of scarlet red flooded onto her face.
"Fine. You're cute, I'll give you that." She admits with an annoyed sigh as she looks everywhere but Y/n.
"How can I fancy you? I've despised your very presence since we've met!" The Gryffindor mumbles as her eyes follow the detail of the stone walls.
She was silent for a while, listening to the soft breathing of the Ravenclaw beside her as her mind stumbled over itself with different thoughts.
"I'll admit it. Alright?" She sighs with another annoyed tone. Hermione hated admitting she had been wrong, especially about how she truly felt about things.
"I've fallen for the sound of your voice, and the kindness you show me when it's just the two of us. Or how you seem to look at me like...I can't explain it, it's like-" she's cut off.
"Like you're the only person in the room that matters"
Hermione turned in shock to hear a dry and raspy voice coming from the bed beside her. Y/n eyes were open, but tired still. She had a weak smile, yet it seemed very genuine.
They stared at one another, Hermione's breathing was audible but soft. Her hands gripped her jeans, trying to convince herself that she wasn't hallucinating. Y/n's hand slipped out from under the blanket and waited patiently to be taken.
Hermione sat nervously as she hesitated, her eyes flickering between Y/n's hand and eyes. The Ravenclaw waited patiently, continuing to look at her with a soft smile.
"How can I trust you?" Hermione asked as she looked back at her, their gaze tense and unbreaking.
"I've loved you since our first Potions class together" Y/n whispered, surprising the Gryffindor once again. All the way back to first-year?
"Then why..." Hermione drifts off as she thinks of every time they've gotten into an argument or pushed each other's buttons on purpose.
"It's the only way you'd talk to me! Thank Merlin I failed Alchemy, or else this might of never happened" Y/n chuckles softly as Hermione slips her hand into hers. It was warm now.
Y/n's thumb subconsciously ran over Hermione's knuckles as they continued to stare at one another.
"Go out with me Granger, tomorrow," Y/n asked with a grin, which Hermione chuckled at.
"You're still on bed rest for your broken ribs" she states, to which the Ravenclaw groans about.
"I'll sneak out, meet me in Irondale" Y/n says and Hermione rolls her eyes with a playful smile as she places her other hand between the space below her chest and above her stomach.
"I'll bring you some Ice Cream tomorrow as compensation, please stay in bed," Hermione asks nicely and Y/n grumbles like an upset first-year.
"Alright, but as soon as I'm released then?" Y/n asks with a smile as she squeezes the Gryffindor's hand.
"Maybe" Hermione teased as they began to quietly laugh together, their chuckles echoing around them in the empty Hospital Wing.
Y/n hissed and touched her sides.
"Don't make me laugh" she whispers with a pained smile, to which Hermione quickly apologized and moved her chair closer. Looking at the potions on the nightstand beside the bed.
"When did you take these?" she asks as her hand leaves Y/ns and starts to pick up bottles, reading the labels carefully.
"You tell me," Y/n says with a grin as she tries to lay at her side, but Hermione quickly scolds her.
"Don't you dare! You have broken ribs!" she says with a sigh as she watches Y/n roll her eyes and lay back down.
"Here, this is for pain relief. It says take every four hours, and you've been knocked out long past that" Hermione hums as she pours the liquid into a small cup, Y/n makes a face as the smell of it hits her nose.
"Please don't make me pour it down your throat" Hermione states as she holds the cup for her. They looked at each other with playful glares.
"It smells like horse piss 'Mione" Y/n says as she slowly sat u. Her ribs felt as though they were on fire, causing her to curse and hold back some tears.
Hermione took her hand and held it against her back to alleviate some of the pain. It seemed to help slightly.
"I know, but it's good for you" she replied as she placed the cup in the Ravenclaw's hands.
"Maybe so, but I need a little convincing" Y/n says through pained breaths as she smiles. Hermione raised an eyebrow and smirked.
"How so?" She asks as Y/n places her hand on the side of her neck and pulls the brown-haired girl towards her.
Hermione smiled when she stood out of her chair and kissed the Ravenclaw. Their lips moved simultaneously, their hands grasping each other's faces with passion.
Each kiss felt more irresistible than the last, to the point that Y/n desperately whispered 'no' when Hermione began to pull away.
"Drink, then we'll see about another one " she whispered back as she sat back in the chair, her face pink and her lips smudged with Y/n's peppermint chapstick.
Y/n was quick to down the potion like a shot of Fire Whiskey. To which she soon regretted when her face contorted and she started to cough from the taste.
As she gagged and hacked from the horrendous flavor, she grasped her sides in pain.
"Sweet Merlin, knock me out" she said through wheezes as Hermione rubbed her back comfortingly.
Eventually Y/n was able to calm herself and lay back down on the bed. Hermione covered her back with the blanket and sighed softly.
"You're an idiot" she said with a sigh as Y/n grasped her hand and smiled.
"Your idiot"
"I haven't claimed you"
"Yet! I'm putting it into the universe now" Y/n hums as she shuts her tired eyes and lets the potion start to relax her body.
"Oh god," Hermione whispers as she stands up and dusts off her jeans. Owls booted as they passed by the window.
"Get some sleep-"
Y/n quickly grabbed her wrist and gave a soft, but pleading look. This shocked the Gryffindor. Y/n was never this openly touchy.
"Don't go"
Hermione looked at her as a small smile crept into her lips, she looked away to hide her charmed facial expression.
"If you wish" she says as she sits back in the chair and takes Y/n's hand into hers. Their palms fit perfectly against one another.
Y/n relaxed as she began to fall asleep again, her eyes fluttering shut to the comfort of Hermione's watchful gaze.
The room felt safe.
——————
Hermione soon woke up to the sun shining in her eyes, she groaned as she sat up and cursed the chair for putting a knot in her back
When her eyes focused, she found Y/n reading the Daily Prophet with an annoyed look on her face. Hermione yawned and caught her attention.
"Look at this! I look like roadkill!" Y/n huffed as she showed the front page of the article, it was a moving picture of Y/n passed out on the bleacher floor.
"Quidditch Player Bludgeoned!" Hermione read out the headline and snickered slightly as Y/n just huffed in anger again.
"That's a stupid play on words" she grumbled as Madam Promfrey walked back with a snicker of her own.
"I liked it" she said with a smile as she took care of a sick third-year a few beds away.
"Hey!" Y/n groaned as Hermione placed the paper down and chuckled, the air between them was light and fun.
Y/n looked back at her and sighed, the sun shining on her back as it cast her shadow on the bed.
"So...do you want to talk about last night?" Y/n asks and Hermione feels her cheeks heat up at the remembrance of it.
"Yes, we should" she replied as she scooted closer, hoping to keep the conversation as private as possible.
Y/n gently gazed upon her, her eyes seemed to glow as the backlight of the sunshine shimmered around her.
They both were nervous to hear what the other would say, which led them to just look at one another to start the conversation.
"Would you still like to go out to Irondale with me? After I get released, of course." Y/n whispers as her eyes fall to the palms of her hands. A nervous silence grew between them as Madam Promfrey pretended she wasn't listening in.
"I would like that, a lot" Hermione whispers as a shared smile breaks out on their faces. The room felt warmer as their cheeks turned a cotton candy color (or candy floss if you really want to get British).
——————
They spoke quietly together as the day turned to night once again, Y/n eventually convincing Hermione to go back to her dorm and get a good night's rest.
But as soon as Hermione's head hit that pillow, she began to toss and turn. To the point that Ginny threw a pillow at her to make her stop moving.
"I can't help it!" Hermione whispered as she sat up and threw the bundle of feathers back at her. Ginny just sighed as she caught it and laid back with it covering her face in annoyance.
"Just go see her then! Everyone has been talking about you two today" Ginny muffled through the cloth as a few other girls hummed in agreement as they pretended to be asleep.
"Of course, this school spreads gossip quicker than the flu" Hermione grumbles as she throws the covers off and slips on her shoes. A few of the girls chuckled as they sat up as well and turned on the light.
"I find it cute," Lavender says with a smile as she yawns softly. Ginny snickered and moved the pillow off her face, watching as Hermione seemed to be burning with embarrassment.
"I hate you all" the leather-haired beauty grumbled as she walked towards the door.
"But we love you!" The girls yelled back in a fit of giggles as the door slammed shut. Hermione could hear them cackling as she quickly made her way down to the common room.
It was empty and dark, it looked as though someone had put off the fireplace for the night. Her feet made the steps creak as she walked down to the main floor, her arms crossed against her chest as the chilly air hit the skin of her forearms.
She huffed softly as she shimmied her way through the tunnel and out to the hall on the other side.
The paintings snored softly as she made her way to the Hospital Wing. Only a few were up to ask the young Gryffindor where she was off to, to which she replied 'Better sleeping arrangements'. It was a strange response, but they didn't push any further.
When Hermione made it to the wing, it was dark and cold, just like the night before. Except, Y/n was up.
"Hermione? What are you doing here?" She asks when she hears steps enter the room. Hermione just grumbled something incoherent and got into the empty bed next to Y/n's.
Y/n chuckled and watched the Gryffindor get under the covers and turn her back towards her.
"Missed me?"
"Shut up."
Y/n began to laugh, now that her ribs were almost fully healed it didn't hurt as much to do so anymore.
"Just admit it, Granger, you're in love with me already" Y/n says to which Hermione flips her off and covers her head with the pillow.
Hermione felt her face burn so hot that she was sure the pillowcase could catch ablaze. Y/n's continuous chuckles didn't help either. Soon enough, it got quiet, and the sound of the wind rattled the windows near them.
Hermione rolled over and rested the pillow back under her head as she caught eyes with Y/n across from her.
"This doesn't mean anything" she whispers as the Ravenclaw grinned.
"It means everything" Y/n replied.
"You're overthinking things"
"I'm your overthinker"
"Still trying to get me to claim you?"
"Slowly but surely!"
Hermione chuckled softly as she looked at her with a soft gaze, her heart thumping inside her chest.
"Fine. You're an idiot...my idiot"
They both began to laugh as they lay on either bed and started to talk the night away quietly, soon falling asleep with their hands dangling over the sides. Fingers brushing the others whenever a breath was taken.
Futures started to form in their dreams.

Hellooo 1st I just wanna say that I love how you write! The fics you post almost always puts a smile on my face when I’m stressed and I just wanna thank you for that <3
Anyways I’ve been accidentally rizzing my friends up lately on accident with sweet words and I ended up thinking what would the biggest tsundere (literally) in twst do with an s/o who’s very generous with compliments and poetic with words and is shameless with how cheesy they can sound sometimes
I’m so sorry if my request is too vague huhu, have a good day! <3
THHAANNKK YOU *SMOOCHES* *GNAWS ON UR LEG* I LOVE U and may happier and less stressful times come ahead for you!
although you didn't specify which character...I picked who I believe to be the top three tsudneres of the game. Heuheuehu.
The prefects muse~
In which you find yourself utterly bemused by him, throwing out compliments and lines of infatuation that leave him a flustered wreck. How does he react to someone as valiantly passionate as you regarding your sweet words of honey?
Featuring: Idia, Riddle, Azul
Idia
Idia convinced himself you were just another introverted loser who had no care in your mind for other people, keeping to yourself, enjoying video games, and always open for degernate hours of playing video games.
what he did NOT know he was signing himself up for, was some sort of weird poet club bullshit. Yet there he was, sitting on the couch of the ramshackle dorm playing away at the new console he had gifted you he could feel your gaze burning the back of his head. Turning around slowly and almost with dread, your shit-eating grin blinded him with words of sweet-sweet cringe.
"Watching you play video games you can truly see how serious you are, it's adorable," Idia groaned with cheeks burning a bright shade of pink, burrying himself into the couch, "Ah~ I wish you would look at me like that, with such passion..."
"ugh..whhyy..." Idia murmured embarrassingly avoiding your gaze and remaining strong in holding himself together at your routine daily compliments.
"I can't help it!" You cried out theatrically, "Idiiaa...I can be like a video game. Play me, too!" That comment broke something inside of him that was supposed to be stayed hidden, his blue hair changing a bright shade of pink to signify the extent of his flustered state. You only giggled at this, as Idia attempted to hold in all self control by taking his hoodie, hoping the couch would just take him then and there.
Over time he became used to the fact that you would openly flirt with him, although that never stopped the second hand embarrassment that came along with it. What he wont tell you, though, that behind the rosey cheeks and tsundere display of dislike for your antics, was a heart that beat quickly and mind that secretly enjoyed your poetic and "old cringy" way of loving him.
Which just means your flirting is working, keep it up! <3 But maybe try to hold back in front of other people, he isn't sure how much more he can keep deflecting their raised eyebrows and teasing remarks...
riddle
Being someone who is well versed in the world of poetry and literature, he could often pin point where some of your lines may come from. His way of deflection is either correcting your sentences, or retorting with the next line. What he DOESN'T know how to deflect, is the string of compliments you give him on a day to day basis. At first he simply thought you were being kind in complimenting the way his hair shone in the sunlight- until Cater pointed out that your remarks were anything but the norm. That's when Riddle took more notice to it, realizing that your lines of poetry was not an exercise of the brain, yet an actual technique to flirt with him.
and it was working.
"Riddle~" You sang in the halls of heartslabyul, skipping much to his annoyance.
"Do not jump around in the halls," He chastised you, "What is it?" You gave him a mischievous smile with a toothy grin to match, clearing your throat and standing straight.
"My bounty is as boundless as the sea, My love as deep; the more I give to thee, The more I have, for both are infinite."
Silence reigned for a few moments as Riddle blinked a few times, squinting his eyes to give you his typical "poker face."
"Is this another one of your attempts to 'flirt' with me?" He asked, you leaning against the wall and running your fingers through your hair in a flirty and playful manner. You nodded eagerly, to which Riddle gave a sigh and walked past you to continue whatever he was doing prior to your poetic interruption. Your jaw slacked open and you skipped (again, to his annoyance) to catch up to him.
"I swear I saw a smile! Turn around and show it to me, Riddle! Was that one good? Did I capture your heart finally?" You giggled, seeing how Riddle was obviously ignoring your feeble cries of searching attention.
Yet you were correct, he couldn't help but find his cheeks as red as a rose and lips curling up in a bashful smile. He would not allow you to see how you affect him, however.
Riddle tends to just ignore your flirting, now that he has come accustomed to it. Even in front of people when you would openly compliment him, Riddle continued sipping his tea seemingly unbothered. Whenever he would get strange looks to find an explanation to your questionable behavior, he simply shrugged.
"Do not mind them, they are always like this."
But at night by his lonesome, he was repeating your words in his head a million times over, that same rose colored tint upon his cheeks and smile with a blanket hard on his grip. Perhaps giggling a time or two to himself...for he never met someone as brazen as you. Not that he was actually complaining, though.
Azul
Flirting with Azul was always a treat. His reactions were the most flamboyant out of the other tsundere boys, he never failed to get some sort of remark and complaint out of his mouth whenever you sang praises his way. He attempted to be calm and collected, but the blush that painted his cheeks betrayed his cool demeanor.
"Is that a new coat, Azul? Ohohoh you do look dashing, If I do say so myself. Did you style your hair? The way it frames your face really brings out your features-"
"Stop, stop stop! Why must you feel the need to shower me in complimets?!" He cried out, burying his face into his arms upon the deak. The pink on his ears was also unforgiving for the poor merman. You chuckled and sat next to him, patting his shouders.
"I can't help it! If I see something I like, I must voice it out. Is it too plain? I can try and be more poetic. Let's see..." You used your hand to pull his chin, forcing his gaze to meet with yours. You inwardly teased him at the vibrant hue of his cheeks and flustered face, keeping it in as you leaned forward to gaze deeply into his eyes.
"Your eyes," you started, "Shine far brighter than any I have seen, even the most silver and sparkly of diamonds pale in comparison to your-"
"e-e-enough! W-what is this?!" Azul pulled away, tucking his head back into his arms and groaning, "Just...go back to what you were doing before! None of this...diamond...and..." He trailed off, words failing him. Azul was not used to such praises from others, he spent his entire life believing the worst every moment he caught glance in a mirror with a life time of self esteem issues. So hearing you so openly compliment him always left the man flustered and blushing, cringing at every moment you tried to stroke his ego.
He never truly get's used to it, only finds ways to ignore you. When you're around others and began to make a sly comment about how his hands look nice or how his skin looks that particular day, he closes his eyes and avoids anyone's gazes with a face full of color that even the coral of the sea could not compare. He often gets teased by his fellow classmates for this, but never actually speaks up in distaste to you. He could never admit just how much your persistent compliments thoroughly means to him, and how with every word he finds himself looking in the mirror with a little more enthusiasm than he once had.

Hyunjin as a Boyfriend
This man has my heart fr
Ugh he’s my comfort person i could go on for hours about everything i love about him
Hope y’all enjoy
All the love ~ lunar
Prepare for the most romantic relationship of your life
As well as the goofiest
This man is a hopeless romantic (but we all know that)
I know this is commonly said, but he for sure has at least one sketchbook full of drawings of you
Probably more but only one that he admits to having
Everything he has painted since he met you has somehow related to you in someway
If it's not already a photo of you, it's something that you like or an idea that you gave him when he couldn't think of what he wanted to paint
Mans is completely starstruck for you
Head over heels, only has eyes for you kind of guy
(slightly irrelevant but when he says he paints old couples cause love should be eternal… HEART SHATTERED SO FREAKING CUTE)
Now when he paints old couples, its the images that he has in his mind of the two of you growing old together
Lets you meet Kkami, and is jealous when Kkami likes you more than him
Though he also really likes how much his little Kkami loves you
“Okay Kkami, I know you love them, but they're mine, not yours”
Insert a growling Kkami and startled Hyunjin
Drama King (another one we all know lol)
Honestly, never a dull moment with Hyunjin
Eve if the two of you are sitting in his art studio doing your own things, he will ask you the most random questions every now and then
Absolutely ask you “would you love me if I was a worm?”
And if you say no, its as if he was just rejected, has the most dramatic reaction
If you say yes, still will have a dramatic reaction
“AHHHH MY BABY WOULD LOVE ME IF I WERE A WORM HOW CUTE”
Truly a gentleman
Don't even think about touching a door handle, he would look at you as if you committed a felony
Protective in subtle ways
Always has a hand on the small of your back if the two of you are in a crowded area, guiding you through the people
Knows all of your likes and dislikes, and makes sure that your dislikes are not even offered to you
Rather than bringing you flowers, he brings you paintings of flowers, he thinks its more romantic, and he enjoys painting flowers
Though he will still buy you flowers as well
Plans the cutest dates ever
Loves dancing with you in the living room late at night without any music playing
Overall he is just so in love with you, and he tries in every way possible to show you, sometimes his hopeless romantic side takes over, and treats you like royalty
Most boyfriend to ever boyfriend omggg

*Rant Incoming*
Warning: Tired & Emotional Author did not check for emotional errors. This is not the usual “facts & research” essay. It may feel attackish. It may feel like a targeting accusation. I guess, in a way, it is. I apologize. But I need to speak.
Sometimes I wish I could be that creator.
The kind who can say mean, hateful things about RISE and walk away. The kind that can go in depth to explain how truly bad Splinter is and how furious Leon makes me and how the way the Foot are portrayed feels like a betrayal to the Foot’s history and everything else cringy or mortifying about that series.
But I can’t. Because that’s not fair.
Because if I spent every single day hating on Rise when I remember something that upsets me, everyone would be rightly upset.
There are people out there who adore this show and I’m just sitting here going through every reason why their favorite thing is stupid.
That doesn’t seem like a nice thing to do by any means.
Just because I have an opinion doesn’t mean I have to share it.
Just because I dislike a character design or certain aspects doesn’t make the show as a whole an inherently awful show. Heck, (as an example, not a truth) just because I dislike every single thing about a show doesn’t make the show itself inherently awful!
I think we should be able to agree on that for any tmnt iteration.
So why is it that 2012 happens to be the favorite outliner?
Why is it that I can’t go a week without someone reminding me how inherently awful and disgusting and terrible it is? Why is it that I’m biased and nostalgic and that’s the only reason that I could like the show, and one day, I’ll have to take a step back and realize how awful it is? How abusive and cringe and stupid it is?
Some days I get online after long, stressful days to indulge and relax and maybe even write- and then someone comes up to tell me how dumb or horrid my love for the show is. And I don’t even want to do any of that anymore because a part of my brain is looking at the screen and wondering, “Maybe they’re right.”
And then I’m miserable because I know that’s not fair.
Why do you get to stand in the way of what I love? Why can’t you talk about the series that you love and adore, and just ignore 2012? What joy do you get out of tearing down the one thing that keeps me sane?
It isn’t like people are sitting down to explain anything. To acknowledge character development or changes or to explain the inherently abusive things the ninja family does and take into account their heritage and bond and then reason why it’s still bad.
It’s always the same things.
“The brothers are so horrible and abusive-”
Great, so don’t watch the show.
“The love triangle is so cringe and Donnie is a creepy stalker-”
Great, so don’t watch the show.
“Splinter is literally The Worst example of Splinters in any iteration-”
Great, so don’t watch the show.
“Leo is so boring and stiff Ugh I can’t believe season three exists-”
Great, so don’t watch the-
“Raph is so mean and cruel and he always takes it out on Mikey-”
Great, so don’t watch-
“Mikey is a poor baby who has never done anything wrong and just likes playing around and doesn’t deserve anything that his family ever throws his way and it’s like they aren’t family at all-”
Great, so-
“That isn’t how REAL brothers would act.”
Great.
Just. Great.
Thanks for sharing.

so I just listened to Florence+the machines Cassandra and ts Cassandra one after the other and like…listen I know i don’t like ts but I’m trying to give her the benefit of the doubt and judge her music without letting my dislike cloud that judgement the worst part about that experience is that it’s genuinely an ok song. Like I write poetry(cringy poetry but it’s a good outlet and over the years I’ve learned the difference between actual poetic devices and just spitting out words that rhyme) and it sounds like something I would write?? Like not in a rude or patronising way but when I need to journal or whatever and I just write out the first thoughts I have and think its an absolute masterpiece and then a few hours later I look at it and go oh so I was delusional lol but by then the emotions have passed and I don’t feel like working on that poem anymore. That’s what her lyrics make me think of😭 like it’s an ok song but the references to her life actual ruined it for me I was trying to enjoy the song but then there’s a line about filling her cell with snakes or smth and it took me out of it immediately I was like ugh this drama again?? Really?? And without the Easter eggs the song is…boring?? Like she sings a portion in the beginning then the rest of the song is lines from that portion rearranged and sang the exact same way again?? And musically like there’s nothing?? With Florence’s Cassandra the music builds and makes you feel something for yourself whereas ts is meant to make you feel smth for her. Florence’s lyrics and melody were like a breath of fresh air after listening to ts. Florence feels like she truly has something to say and embodies that character she’s created for the song idk maybe that’s my own personal bias getting in the way tho sorry for the long ask I just wanted to get your thoughts because I really enjoy your analysis of her music it helps me feel less insane lol❤️❤️
Hello dear!
Hope you are doing well, and if you are not- I hope that you will be doing well soon.
I cannot express enough how awkward the placement of Taylor Swift's "Lore" interjections has become in her music. Sometimes I truly feel like I am listening to two different songs every time she breaks the flow of the music to add so throw-back call to old drama. It's maddening- because on one hand I know that Swift wants people to think she is a great artist- yet she cannot stop acting like a preteen with a popular gossip blog by interjecting cheap-shots at her enemies at every possible turn. It's so- bad.
I am going to explain in a different post by Swift's "confessional" style of music doesn't actually live up to the precedent standard of the confessional poets from the 1960's- just because I want to clear the air in stating the literary difference between what Swift does (writing hit pieces against people she hates) and what true artists do with their confessional poetry (think Slyvia Plath, Anne Sexton, Robert Lowell- Etc.) wherein often the poets express dislike, hatred, messiness of human experience and the like. However, it's a remarkably different tone, and effectiveness, compared to Swift's rapacious, barbed insults towards her fellows in the industry or in life.
She really just can't ever let anything go, huh? It must be terribly stressful and lonely to live like that.
To the point you mention above- on how Swift's writing is so continuously self-reflexive that it no longer elicits any empathy in the audience- so that, yes, we do only feel something "for her." She does this by design. I think you are quite clever to see the rhetorical difference here. Swift is writing for herself- for her own "woe," but other writers are capable of writing from a broader perspective- one that elicits empathy in the audience- that builds on our common humanity. More detail on what I mean here will be posted in the "Cassandra" post soon. :)
Anywho, I quite enjoyed reading your perspective on the two songs. I feel a little bit more based seeing that other people key into the innate difference between the two texts- much like I do.
I enjoy much of Florence's work- though not all of it. I do, however, respect that she, unlike Swift, actually seems to understand the Cassandra archetypal pattern. All I'm really after here- is just some artists who know how to think and create!
Swift's work is just cringy self-effacing "poetry" meant to pull sympathy and pity from people. It's actually giving me second-hand embarrassment. I think everyone at some point in life seeks pity and sympathy from others- yet most people grow out of this impulse somewhere around the teen years. Because it's just dreadfully juvenile to always being seeking pity- it's like when toddlers whine to get something they want. The proper thing to do is to tell the toddler- "Hey, use your words to tell me what you want, because I cannot understand you when you whine like that."
I wish someone would tell Taylor Swift to grow up and stop whining like a toddler who never learned how to properly express themselves.
But- I think you are right. Without the odd interjection of "lore," she wouldn't be able to write a full song. She's completely dependent on her audience's juvenile interest in gossip.

That adorable little mascot (my bff Luce) is truly a dividing force in different Catholic currents of thought (my marriage) as the joyless tradcath (my husband) keeps calling the happy converts (me) a merchant of the temple for obsessively looking if i can buy a plushie version to help convert the Catholic youth (our baby). Good job vatican !
Ugh it's so weird because she doesn't have to be! Like, people can just dislike her! No biggie! They don't need to make her out to be some evil thing that needs to be renounced, they can just say "I'm not the target demographic" and move on. The whole "this isn't how you save souls, young people want ✨tradition✨" thing isn't a universal feeling and already I've seen so many non Catholics interested in her so clearly, she as an idea, is working. You can't dictate how people come to God. Sometimes it's through incense and old cathedrals and latin. And sometimes it's through anime

"I can't read big paragraphs/walls of text bc of ADHD/some other nd condition" I'm truly sorry about that! That sucks! But also authors who write fiction or other creative works are not obligated to cater to you! What they are doing is creating art, not content.
I agree making things largely more accessible is a good thing, and I also agree making things more spaced out might be good for online articles and such that convey specific information. It's definitely okay to have preferences based on what's comfortable to you. But it's a wild thing to ask someone to compromise their artistic vision or discard what might be their preferred stylistic choices or even just say otherwise gramatically correct longform prose is bad because "I don't like long paragraphs :^("
There are lots of post-hoc tools that make reading on screens easier that don't compromise the author's style choices. You can change fonts to something more friendly to your disability. You can change line spacing. You can change the color of the screen background. The world is truly your oyster in terms of reading on screens.
And sometimes you just may not be able to engage with a text that you might otherwise find compelling! And that's fine !!! Not liking an author's style is a completely legitimate reason to not read a work. It's not up to them to make it more palatable to you. You are simply not their target readership, I'm afraid.
Would you ask a painter to change the value or brightness of their colors because they give you a headache? No, you simply decide you dislike that particular piece of work and move on. So why do this to another creative working in a different medium. Unfortunately, art is not something we can always make completely accessible to everyone in its original, intended form. Which is why, as I've said, there are post-hoc tools to help with this.
Anyway. I have ADHD too, tf. I don't write to reach as many people as possible; I write because there's something wrong with me and I have a compulsion to do so, and I take my craft seriously! I'm always looking to improve! But also I revel in being bloviating and long-winded as much as I love snappy action. Everything you see in my work, from sentence structure to paragraph length, is a stylistic choice that I choose based on mood and the information I want to convey. There is no wrong or right way to write. Period. End of sentence. And if it doesn't jive with you, that's your perogative. If you prefer short paragraphs for whatever reason, you're completely valid. But that does not mean short paragraphs good, long paragraphs bad and vice versa.
Instead, ask yourself, does what I've created convey what I want it to in the way I want it to? Is what I'm reading having the sort of impact I think the author is hoping to impart? How would what I'm reading change how I recieve it (regarding emotions and implications for the narrative, not just whether it gives you a headache or not) had the author tweaked its method of delivery just so.
Literary style is also part of the art, not simply the means of delivering content. Fiction is not simply a movie delivered through words instead of images. It's a medium all its own. And, well, sometimes it might be uncomfortable, even physically, to read! Thinking about that big wall of text run on sentence from Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian. Nobody likes the sensation of reading that, because it's a bitch to read! But it only adds to the chaoticness of the imagery presented within the actual content of the text. It's the overwhelming grotesque nature of having to read that beast that adds to the overwhelming whirlwind grotesqueness of the scene.
Ugh! Anyway. Please, believe me, pushing your limits is fine sometimes. I totally get if you don't want to do that with your free online fanfictions that you read to unwind! That's perfectly understandable! But if you're serious about art and craft, unfortunately sometimes you need to go outside your comfort zone. You might have to read something over and over before you get or absorb all of it. That doesn't make you dumb. Trust me, that's part of the process.

[ficlet] fusion perversions
Series: Genshin Impact Characters/Pairing: Kavetham Rating: Gen Summary: Kaveh and Haitham discuss the unholy matrimony of bizarre food combinations. A/N: A short writing practice based on Liz's tweet-prompt: "Haitham was the kind of gremlin in uni who would buy a whole pack of instant fried noodles and then proceed to 'improve' them with the wildest combinations (like yakisoba with strawberry jam)." Can also be read on AO3. ※※※ If anything, Kaveh should have known better; should have foreseen even this. He’s been best friends with Haitham for the longest time, after all. And while he loathes to admit it truthfully in the presence of others, he and Haitham do know each other best—even if he can never claim to fully comprehend the logic and sensibility (or lack thereof) behind the demented inner workings of the man’s prodigious intellect. "Pineapple on pizza?” Kaveh scoffs, repulsed by the very idea. “Hmph, you truly are a heathen sometimes.” "Pineapple glazed ham is a perfectly serviceable taste for Christmas,” Haitham counters evenly, seemingly unruffled. “So, what makes this combination suddenly unacceptable when it's on pizza?" "That's different! This is like you baking that leftover clam chowder into a crisp in the oven and calling Shepherd's pie!!" "I read the recipe for that in a book once—it's called Fisherman's pie, actually." “Ugh, just stop. That’s not what Fisherman’s pie is supposed to look like…” Kaveh trails off, thinking back to that time he’d forced Haitham into Burger King for dinner as punishment for forgetting to wash the dishes that week. Haitham had sulkily chewed away at his burnt burger when he had abruptly decided that French fries went quite well with their vanilla sundae shake… Kaveh coughs into a fist then, shaking off the ugly memory of Haitham wolfing down fries dipped in vanilla sundae. “A-Anyway! You’re hereby banned from further cooking duties for the month. You can take out the trash instead!” The next day, he returns home to see Haitham lounging comfortably on the sofa with a book in one hand (normal) and a pair of chopsticks in another hand (… weird, but okay, Haitham didn’t seem to dislike the Chinese takeouts Kaveh had brought home the last couple of times, so). Haitham glances up from his reading when he hears Kaveh shrugging off his coat, never taking his eyes off Kaveh’s questioning look as he slowly lifts his hand. Kaveh scowls at what looks like a freaking potato chip perfectly balanced between Haitham’s chopsticks, only to frown harder when his roommate reaches towards the coffee table to scoop up—Is that… salsa? Oh god, that is salsa, what the actual fuc—some store-bought salsa from an opened jar. “Salsa and Ruffles potato chips?” Kaveh looks like he’s ready to have an aneurysm, veins bulging almost comically at his temples. “Really? No, really?! Salsa and Ruffles potato chips?!” Haitham only shrugs nonchalantly, dipping another potato chip into the salsa jar with his chopsticks. “We ran out of tortillas. I think the chips would have gone well with some guacamole too, but I’d already finished the last avocado with toast this morning.” “Salsa and Ruffles potato chips.” Kaveh is still pinching the bridge of his nose as he processes this latest fusion perversion. He flops down beside his roommate on the sofa, crinkling his nose in distaste. “Next thing I know you’d be eating cornflakes with orange juice.” Haitham’s expression turns contemplative, before he brightens and opens his mouth. “What about with apple jui—” “No,” Kaveh snaps tersely, even as he begrudgingly chomps down on the salsa-dipped chip that Haitham presses to his lips with the chopsticks. “Absolutely not.” Haitham’s smirk is barely discernible as he hums softly with amusement. (Thankfully, they had bacon, eggs and toast the next morning like normal people; Kaveh could almost forgive Haitham for accidentally adding salt into his yogurt fruit cup.)
—End— ______ - This was written a couple of weeks back. I just edited and brushed it up for posting. I always find it amusing how Haitham is both stoic and yet low-key calculated feral when he chooses to be lol. Something Wrong (affectionate, derogatory) with this man ❤︎
#genshin impact#kavetham#kaveh#alhaitham#al-haitham#fanfic#i always have to thank liz for inspiring my feral kvthm keysmashing lol

Spice not pie
The pie metaphor for sex I've come across while looking into asexuality is fine but feels... lacking. Sexual attraction is arousal for a subject (usually a real person but not necessarily), whereas arousal on its own has no subject and is just a feeling, like hunger. I feel the pie metaphor only works from the perspective of someone truly disinterested in sex, as it is so trivially non-essential to specifically have pie over other foods. I know it's cliche to refer to sexual things as "spicy", but it really is a much better metaphor in my opinion. For one, its intensity, flavour and applications vary along with a person's tolerance for it (as with sex). Additionally, a chef can know how to use spices masterfully or have a keen interest in cooking with spices, but not feel the need to eat each (if any) dish they make. A lot of chefs are informed by actually tasting the food they make, but practice and recipes can help someone who doesn't want to taste the food themselves to understand how to cook with spices. I wouldn't say one has a better understanding of spice than the other, just a different one based on different approaches. Humans are a social species, social connection (regardless of type, platonic, familial, romantic, sexual, communal, online, etc.) is essential for our wellbeing, much like food. What type of food we eat, how often and what amount per meal (snacking throughout the day, only having three large meals a day, only one large meal with a few snacks, etc.) is largely informed by the culture we grow up surrounded by. Spice is not necessary for food, like a social relationship, to be (ful)filling and wholesome. Flavourful even. Some people may insist spice is better or necessary for food to taste good, but (while it is versatile) that doesn't mean it's true. LivingIronicallyInEurope's video on white people food is great at going into detail with this and I feel works well as a metaphor for the validity of non-sexual relationships https//youtu.be/DbtXdXzip0c Salt and pepper are the most widely used spices, much like vanilla sex and mainstream kinks (fluffy handcuffs, mild (albeit often poorly executed) breathplay, calling a masc partner "Daddy", calling a femme partner "Babygirl", wearing "sexy" schoolgirl or cop outfits, etc.). Spices which are so readily used that many dishes feel bland without them to a lot of people. The variety of other spices then reflect the variety of other ways sexual relationships can be fulfilling or a variety of kinks in a specifically sexual context (with non-spicy seasonings being kinks in a non-sexual context). There are also spices people don't notice as spices but as just flavours, such as cinnamon or pumpkin spice, in which going "ugh that's too spicy for me" might confuse the other people tucking into their spiced baked goods. Sometimes people want the spice on its own for the heat of it and not the flavour and not as part of a filling dish, so they eat a chilli pepper on its own. Much like how some people might prefer impersonal hookups.
On a personal note, I REALLY dislike when ace people describe sex as overrated or a distraction. Much like how overpowering the flavours of a dish with an extremely spicy chilli might ruin it for someone. It's valid to feel that way about it personally, but do not claim that your feelings around sex are a factual statement about sex as a whole. Sex has the capacity to be meaningful and add to a relationship as a medium to express affection and appreciate a friend, partner or acquaintance. Just because you feel it distracts from them doesn't mean it's a limitation of sex, it's a limitation in your view and application of sex.
Not especially deep, I just felt that this metaphor encapsulated the nuances of sexuality better than "I'm hungry, just not for pie".

1.My first impression of them
i was immediately intrigued by her, bc while she acted unapologetically like a villain, she was so like... disgusted by venti in v specific sense that i couldn't make sense of before i learned her story. like it was clear they haven't met before, but her anger felt so personal for her, and when she fucking drop-kicked venti it was like whoa wait what, i think its the most like physical and graphic in like realistic sense that isn't fighting giant robots brutal punch in the game. so i immediately wanted to know what is up with her.
and when like you learn the context, that she was from Mond and used to pray to him and watched her loved ones die and country burn without protection from him, and now she's mortal, but she's stronger than the god that she once begged for help and like. this sense of her looking at him and being like "*this* is what i once worshipped? this is what people are still praying to?" and being just disgusted by the lies of godhood. its like. mwah. ur right queen, he deserved this
2.When I think I truly started to like them (or dislike them, if you've sent me a character I don't like)
When I learned her backstory, which btw I think its criminal that hoyo never actually dramatized in game. Like I get that they're going for dark souls lore-buried-item-descriptions shit, and it works in genshin SOMETIMES, like with liyue, but Signora is an example when it clearly didn't work. they should've done it like they did scara, his backstory first was also released in bits and pieces and hints in artifact descriptions, but then they've also dramatized and expanded it in animation and like, it's a shame they just dropped signora with nothing, so most of the players don't even know about her backstory and why she became a crimson witch. ugh.
but also like what really sold me was contrast between her and raiden, where raiden was woobified into absolutely pathetic waifu state, and signora died unbroken and proud, saying "I never asked for forgiveness". Queen shit >>>>>>>>>>
they couldn't redeem her bc redemption implies realizing you were wrong and she was right, so they killed her
3.A song that reminds me of them
Lola Blanc "Angry Too"
Does it get your blood boiling? Does it make you see red? Do you wanna destroy it? Does it get in your head? 'Cause it gets my blood boiling, and I'm coming unglued It would hit you like poison if you knew what I knew You would be angry too
I'm seeing through crimson sunglasses I'm breathing and counting to ten I guess I'm fresh out of free passes, they'll pay if it happens again
And I don't wanna drink the venom they made me I don't wanna be controlled by the past Boy if you were me, could you really blame me? Would make you crazy
and "Paint It Black", but performed by Ciara, bc it has the right dignified villain vibes

catching fire liveblog no one asked for!!
- “you are a strangely dislikable person” hey did you guys know i love haymitch because i love haymitch
- fucking insane that president snow is just. in her house. like imagine you come home one day and donald trump is standing in your living room.
- anything with rue gets me choked up instantly….. that whole scene in district 11? whoof.
- the “one day i’m gonna volunteer just like you did” is rough.
- i did not remember that snow was a grandfather… who on earth did he have kids with??
- the dynamic between katniss, peeta, haymitch, and effie is soooo. rotates them in my brain.
- i know it’s the point but this quarter quell concept is so deeply fucked up
- i want an au where haymitch fights in these games instead of peeta
- haymitch reaching for effie’s hand <3
- finnick was fourteen when he won his games,,,,, that’s wild (the trauma potential for his character,,, going insane)
- finnick is so. RAGHHHHH. he’s so hot.
- johanna lesbian-coded character of all time <3 to me <33
- mags is so sweet 😭
- i forgot about the painting of rue that i’m assuming peeta did??
- katniss making the dummy of seneca is. ugh. it’s so good.
- caesar has no morals but at least he serves cunt
- the mockingjay dress is so cool
- finnick and annie are so sweet i can’t wait for them to get married and for nothing bad to happen to them ever 🙃
- johanna was so real for telling everyone to go fuck themselves
- cinna sacrificing himself to make 👏 a 👏goddamn 👏 statement 👏
- “if it weren’t for the baby” truly is peeta’s most iconic moment
- also i love haymitch’s little toast to peeta at that bit
- all the tributes holding hands 🥲
- haymitch and effie are the dysfunctional parents of all time
- the peacekeepers killing cinna in front of katniss as she watches unable to do anything is so upsetting
- starting the arena in water is an insane fucking advantage for some people (finnick) and probably a disadvantage for a lot of other people
- i know it’s a whole revolution thing but i like to think of haymitch giving finnick his bracelet like ‘protect my dumbass kids please’
- wouldn’t it be funny if peeta was dying and finnick just made out with him (like katniss thinks is happening in the books??)
- i love katniss but,, my girl stared at the fog for so goddamn long before doing anything about it !! why’d you wait to TOUCH IT AND GET POISONED to see if it was dangerous?? it’s a fucking hunger games arena of course mysterious fog is gonna be bad!
- god finnick’s reaction when mags dies,,,,
- but also damn that fog kills you QUICK… maybe it’s just because mags is old but that canon went off like,, immediately
- the female morphling sacrificing herself for peeta 🥲 i know she was probably in on the whole revolution thing but still
- that post about all the district twelve victors holding someone in their arms as they died is sooooooo. yeah.
- the whole “tick tock” scene and realizing the arena is a clock is so cool
- i love their friendship and so i have to love finnick and katniss bonding over experiencing The Psychological Horrors
- johanna just casually trauma dumping okay girlie
- finnick looks so hot in this last scene on the airship,, i know i’m predictable but GOD 😩
- i love the little reminders we get sometimes that haymitch is strong and did in fact win the hunger games against 47 other people.
- this movie is so confusing ngl,, i can never keep track of who’s good/who’s in on the rebellion, etc.
- still a great movie though <3
#the games section of catching fire is my favorite part of the series for sure#not that the revolution isn’t interesting but like. it’s less interesting.#the hunger games#catching fire#eli.posts

why did you dislike ses4? and was there anything you enjoyed recently?
oh boy. i think it would be easier to tell you what i DID like about the season. i can count it on one hand. (1) ruby. she's my queen. (2) adam making it explicitly clear that he identifies with the bi label. (3) gillian anderson. she's just soooooo ugh. i love her. (4) NONE OF THE BAD BITCHES CHOOSING OTIS. maeve and ruby both deserve better fr. (5) aimee reclaiming some agency. cannot even think of a sixth thing. that's how bad this season did not worked for me. i said i was not gonna rant but i guess now i am gonna rant a little (trying to keep it short for both of our sakes).
i think there is definitely some more technical and objective stuff that's wrong and with this season and then there is some stuff i personally didn't like but that may work for other people.
objectively, i think the writing was severely lacking in quality. it was SO LAZY. even uninspired. the plot was meandering and the arcs fell extremely flat as a consequence. they randomly introduced interesting internal and external conflicts, sometimes even towards the end of the season, that could have spanned the entire eight episodes, but then they often just drop those ideas like hot potatoes—sometimes by the next episode, sometimes by THE NEXT SCENE (e.g. otis basically taking over a surrogate parent role or feeling like losing his mom, basically everything ruby-centric that wasn't oatis-related, jackson questioning his sexuality, etc.)!! other storylines that didn't have to last for several epsiodes (like jackson's cancer scare) went on for way too long. and the storylines they kept up for several episodes were mostly half-assed. the vivian & beau thing was surface level at most (and rushed af), the ace thing was soooo buried and shoved aside for stupider plotlines (they did o so dirty istfg), same with their approach to adding to the discourse on disability/accessibility, the exploration of jean's sister dealing with her abuse was just almost non-existent, eric's storyline reconciling his sexual and religious identities relied an cheap gimmicks, maeve finding her voice as a writer, jean's postnatal depression (how half-assed that was truly hurt my psych major brain), etc..... and then they dragged these storylines out without giving them any *substance*. like. i SKIPPED two episodes and missed NOTHING (i even did go back to jump through it just now to verify and, yup, did not miss a piece of information i did not gain or infer from the episodes i watched). you know a story is aimlessly wandering around when people can skip 2h of content and not even miss a shrivel of character development. i'd claim almost all storylines and arcs were handled badly. the only one that was well-structured and well-executed (from a storytelling standpoint) was the groff family arc (mind you, not the individual arcs but their arc as a family). AND I DON'T EVEN AGREE WITH THAT STORYLINE FROM AN IDEOLOGICAL STANDPOINT BUT STILL I LIKED IT THE MOST BECAUSE WRITING WISE IT WAS AT LEAST COMPETENTLY HANDLED!!!! like, that's so unfortunate. for me. and don't even get me started on the tonal dissonance WHITIN scenes and BETWEEN scenes. it was so so jarring at times and made the humour NOT land AT ALL (especially the physical humour because holyyy shit what was that). idk if that's editing's fault or if the writers made these decisions or if the producers and executives are to blame, but the inconsistency of mood and tone just really made me feel disconnected from the emotional moment. felt absolutely nothing about what was happening to these characters.
on a more personal level, i took issues with the way they wrote some characters and the content of some arcs. they really reduced maeve's character to nothing (like. i am sorry but her dialogue is so flat and boring, the most meaningful thing she said all season was probably at her mom's funeral.) otis literally learned jackshit. he's still kind of a self-absorbed dick. o was so underutilised and disrespected (they didn't even try to make the ace thing an important plotline). aimee was turned into a grotesque parody of herself. eric's story focusing on religion was HELL to me personally. like, i grew up catholic (which is different to the christianity eric practices but still...), and ngl the way they handled his 'religious' awakening just sent me up the wall. as a queer person who was very involved in church life from a young age and had to reconcile her faith with her queer identity, i felt like his story made a mockery of that struggle and that inner conflict. the visions were ridiculous. it felt like the writers were making fun of the struggle queer people face when (1) wanting to meaningfully engage with faith and religion *OR* (2) wanting to distance themselves from organised religion. additionally it felt like they were making fun of religion & religious faith as a whole, depicting it as this almost psychotic thing to believe in god. and they completely decoupled eric's personal journey to faith from what religion primarily is about for many, many people: community and connection. like, sure, they briefly brushed it i theory, but neglected to real get into the emotional reality and complexity of it. they very much glossed over the fact that religious communities are a source for moral/ethical and social control and even when you disagree with some aspects of the doctrine you will still be affected by it if you grew up in those circles. and your personal reckoning with religion will probably be more tied to THAT (the fear of losing love/support/part of your social circle, ostracisation (because even when you're okay with who you are right from the start it's something that doesn't feel good even when you prepare for it....), feeling disconnected from your former self, struggling to build your own belief system that you feel lie it truly belongs to you etc.). his entire journey was lacking any nuance and complexity in my opinion. and maybe that's because i personally had a different experience reconciling my faith with my sexual identity. i wasn't a self-hating queer either, but breaking away from religion still was a change in my life that impacted me very real and convoluted ways!!! (also like let's be real him becoming a pastor is gonna solve what exactly??? go through the homophobic system to change the homophobic system??? HUH with what power??? you're better of starting a new church fr.) idk. another thing that bugged me was the lack of chemistry in intimate scenes. like. jo and i watched these scenes and. nothing. the lack of chemistry really made me so uncomfortable. it almost made me question if i really do like sex lol. ALSO WHYYYY did they force the aimee and isaac relationship for no reason???? that really didn't have to have to happen. not that i hate it, it's whatever, but i was just so BORING to me. same with the otis and maeve thing. THEY WERE SO BORING. their drama this season was so repetitive and reminiscent of earlier conflicts between them it made me want to rip my hair out. i think i stopped caring about them as a couple after season 2. they don't fit and they don't work yet still the writers were trying to make them a thing for no reason. i could go on but this is already longer than i wanted it to be (yikes). i just want you to know that this season did so many things so badly i ended up not caring about ANYTHING that happened or ANY of the characters (except ruby). they could have all just disappeared and i wouldn't have cared one bit because they were all giving NOTHING. so basically, the season felt like this meme to me, but with a heavy, all-permeating, very petty & derogatory undertone:
okay so now for the things i did watch and enjoy recently (i assume you mean movies/tv shows because i my monthly wrap ups cover my reading). there are quite a few things, actually! ofc i watched barbie which was fun, and oppenheimer which was Very Good. oh, and i watched and liked set it up, and my brother sat me down and made me watch the two spider verse movies with him which i enjoyed a lot as well! my other brother made me watch the new puss in boots (liked that one, too). i also watched the first couple of episodes of the bear and i am very intrigued (gonna continue for sure)!! also finished glow a couple of month ago which was quite good but sadly prematurely cancelled. other than that i have been mostly rewatching stuff tbh (recently e.g. fleabag, schitt's creek, atla, succession, and the occasional movies like p&p 2005, emma 2020. also been in the mood for a rewatch of god's own country & the ghibli movies.). other than that, the movies/tv shows i reblog stuff from are generally things i enjoyed in the past (or at least partly enjoyed). idk there's a lot on my 'to watch list' but i am only making my way through it super slowly jhghjgjhjgjh
#thanks for the ask <3#would love to hear what you have watched and loved recently!!! always open for recs.#and if you want to share your thoughts on ses4 or anything else i am all ears!!#anon#answer#schitt's creek#atla#succession

if it’s another one of These nights I might try to analyze my kins out of pure boredom
1. blueberry pie atm my highest kin probably I haven’t yet seen a character with so many aspects that I can relate to except for her she’s so mecore this is exactly ramencore staying inside your home or comfort zone (even though it doesn’t really bring you any comfort) just because you’re so fucking afraid of the things that are left outside you’re afraid of exploring new things because of past incidents that proved that curiosity doesn’t always lead to nice places and you blame yourself for it and also you’re so so obsessed with the one you love you’re ready to make them your only comfort in the world they’re the only one who can bring peace to you but unfortunately their absence means total despair and loss of meaning
2. ghiaccio IDK. IDK WHY I STILL KIN HIM AFTER LIKE 4 years I still relate to the Venezia rant because idioms make no sense and also it’s always easy to spill your anger on more trivial things rather than people you care about
3. basil because god damn it I can’t handle abandonment I disliked him so much but with time I just kinda looked at him and realized that I’m just like him fr fr the Blaming Yourself stuff really relatable. ugh
4 I’m not sure but I might kin baguette (another nerd yes yes.) the whole following orders thing to get the job done right I’ve always done it like that it’s easier like that I’m no rebellious spirit if something works that it better continue to do so. it’s hard for me to step away from the rules and morals that I’ve made up for myself and even if I do I must punish myself for that. cause its the right thing? Isn’t it? being harsh on yourself sometimes can do bad things for your health though.
5 hajime hinata Also mecore! Trying his best to fit in but failing miserably. and even in times where he truly fits in, he doesn’t notice it. not understanding others’ people bullshit is also there. He’s just.. there. Not a silent protagonist, but he really felt like this for some time, I’m sure. (I forgot the danganronpa plot. I’m judging the hajime portrait that I have in my head)

Re-designing a character right now because suddenly I'm writing her story and the design I gave her at first is making less and less sense. (No I will not be showing the old design. It's cringe and I can't look at it anymore.)
Now, I did two designs for them since they change kinda drastically in personality between the beginning and the end and I wanted to show that in her design.
Past- pink dress
Future- blue outfit
Okay, I've decided to throw random facts about the character here, mainly for myself but feel free to do what you will with this information. I will be throwing other characters of mine in here with no explanation so if you're curious feel free to ask!
Name: Pyra
Pronouns: She/They (It when referring to the gatekeeper)
Pyra's body isn't actually a biological body. They lack the organs on the inside that normal people have. So, when she cut her hair it never grew back.
They 'bleed' fire as a defence mechanism. Also took "a good defence is the best offence" too seriously and just stabs herself to fight off enemies.
They dislike seeing their own reflection. No matter how long passes she just can't get used to seeing a person in the mirror.
Of all their friends the only one they feel truly secure with is Illith. Though the other has no idea why.
Absolutely has no sense of fashion and is dependent on Calias to design outfits for them.
Lives in a graveyard.
Can see and speak to ghosts (even making a select few corporeal if she chooses.
Has a strange guilt complex that they have to help people because it's what they were designed to do.
-I love doing these so here's what other characters have to say about her (keep in mind these are things they'd say out loud and may not be their actual feelings). Also, these are all about the future (or present depending on how you look at it) Pyra, not everyone here knew her before.-
Illith - "I'd prefer not to think about the executive of communications, thank you. They never come into the office and on the off chance they do, they never get any work done. Ugh, I just don't see why people like her so much."
Calias - "She's very fun to hang out with on a good day. On a bad day though... ah, it's not my place to say."
Rowan - "Not even Purkinje can stand them and you expect me to have anything positive to say?"
Rahmila: "I have them to thank for everything I am today. Though I worry sometimes that she doesn't take care of herself as well as she takes care of us."
Ray: "I don't have any strong feelings about her. She practically brought me back from the dead... but maybe the cost for that was too high."
Arabella: "Pyra? She's nice. I think Eofor knows her better than I do."
Eofor: "They're a blast to hang out with! Just don't tell Rowan I said that."
Eris: "If she feels up to it, sometimes they'll walk with me to work. On other days Illith has to go make sure they'll get out of bed in the next week. I never even have to tell Illith that Pyra needs her help, she always seems to just know. It's really strange now that I think about it."
