Reliving strange moments that occurred in the world, thanks to the @ufofest I was able to access information about the "McMinnville Case" This was the Golden Age of UFO sightings.. In 1967, the Air Force commissioned prominent nuclear physicist Edward U. Condon to lead an exhaustive UFO study. The 950-page report, titled “Scientific Study of Unidentified Flying Objects,” easily dismissed most of the reported sightings, but, it stated, “at least one, showing a disk-shaped object in flight over Oregon, is classed as difficult to explain in a conventional way. McMenamins release two new beers in Alienator IPA and Tropic Heat Sour

Leading up to the start of the 20th Annual UFO Festival at McMenamins' Hotel Oregon, the brewery is happy to announce the release of Alienator IPA.

70 years ago, the tiny town of McMinnville was struck with UFO fever when a local family spotted a flying disc from their farm, making national news. 50 years later, in 1999, the fever descended again with the very first UFO Festival. Time warp to today: The 20th annual UFO Festival is back, bigger and better than ever.

The 3-day festival includes renowned speakers & experts, movie screenings, radio broadcasts, vendor booths, live music, alien trivia, the Alien Abduction Dash fun run, pet costume contest, beer tastings, dining with speakers and the Alien Costume Ball. Join us for a galaxy of fun.

Awaiting your consumption, Alienator IPA invigorates the consciousness towards thoughts of tropical fruits with its use of Citra and Mosaic hops. Backing things up is always reliable Chinook. Making use of Pale, Vienna, Rolled Oat, and Carastan 30/37 malts, this IPA harkens back to a time when one could taste their hops. At 6.45% ABV and 45 IBU, one might forget your drinking an iPA.

Later in the month, the brewery will release a unique Sour Ale made with pink guava puree, coconut, and habanero peppers. Based on their initial tastings, the use of habanero peppers isn't as spicy as one would assume. Balancing the spice side with some sweet, the pink guava gets a boost from the use of coconut. Overall this kettle sour beer will go well with shrimp kabobs on the grill, teriyaki pork, or who knows maybe just by itself. At 5.16% ABV and 8 IBU, Tropic Heat Sour is almost sessionable-enough to be your pinch hitter for a lawnmower beer but you'll probably overlook the gravity after trying one of these.
