you're so tense. // @sainterror
Kate rolls her shoulders. They're tight from long hours in the truck and the typical anxiety that accompanies deadlines. Funding is tricky still, even with the few grants she's secured already, and it makes her skin itch to think of multiple zeros lined up neatly in a row. Monopoly money, one professor in udergrad had advised, think of it as fake dollar bills and don't spare it any more thoughts.
If only it were that easy.
"Sorry," Kate answers, though she isn't sure what exactly she's apologizing for. "Do you have any rooms for the next two nights?"

Even if the professor hasn’t reviewed the content in class, taking a sample test can make a huge difference in how you process and learn a new topic. Taking the time to take a practice test (regardless of how many questions you get wrong) is an effective strategy to enhance your future learning capabilities. Think of it as a warmup before the workout. After taking the test, your brain will now be primed for the topics to come, which ultimately will increase your chances of understanding the material later on!

An illustration created for my alumni feature in CommWorks, the senior communications magazine which is designed and published by the students of the communications department at Simmons University. The purpose of this illustration was to demonstrate the feeling of stress seniors feel in balancing school and work life. For me, it was completing my degree in graphic design within 1 year after studying nutrition and dietetics for 3 years of my udergrad.

My sister's GPA is a 98.6 and she won 6 awards at Udergrad Achievement Awards night, one of them being $100k to Rensselaer. I'm so beyond proud, and I cried when she received the award. I can't get over what an amazing person she's becoming. It just makes my heart so full.

I don't like getting older
Why can't I just achieve things and not grow any older? In a little over four months I will 23 and I do not care for that number. I will be graduating in December after four and a half years in undergrad, but that bothers me because it has thrown off my time line. I was supposed to have graduated undergrad by 22 and law school by 25. Now the numbers are 23 and 26. I know that it is not rational to fixate on my age, but I can't help it. I feel like I am losing time and focus.
