I've always envisioned Noel being a lightning based caster. I had an image of a thunder/lightning oni when thinking about her, hence the oni horns and oni mask. Lol imagine my surprise when 1 player brings in lightning from ff and says her name is thunder. They weren't friends when we first played these characters, and that game eventually went on forever hiatus before we could finish the module (LMoP). Now we're playing shattered obelisk with a new DM and we decided Noel and Thunder have known/traveled together for a year. Idk if they remember but in our previous game we got to level 4 and I casted shatter and thunder wave, but I'm not sure if thunders player has realized my intention with Noels affinity with lightning/thunder magic

I was looking through the bard and warlock spell list again and was thinking about how Noel would look like casting her spells.

Definitely want her iris to change and be filled with like electric static. Like when she concentrates or casts a spell, her eye will get more vibrant and her iris gets more 'fiendish'.

I think for spells that do damage, it could start to form a static circle around her. Like wind but it's like arcane electricity forming around her and collecting into her hand or arcane focus. Definitely want her somatic component to be the 🤘 symbol. For her horns and for rocking out. Noel plays the flute but she's picked up the lute after her father died. I don't doubt a modern au version of Noel would be in a metal band.

I like to think her spells that make a lot of noise (which would be MOST of them) like thunder wave and shatter, would make the same noise as an electric amplifier when you turn it on and there's nothing plugged in, and then you plug something in and the feedback is loud af.

I did think about taking elemental adept feat at level 4 for this run.. but meta magic just seems so good since I can quicken a spell as a bonus and attack with my main hand after. (At lvl 6 I can extra attack WOOOO). I think I also want warcaster so I can eventually pick up a shield, and advantage on con saves from warcaster means I wouldn't need to take Eldritch mind as an invocation. Lots of options and I have a lot of time ... So we'll see. I'm also running two 9s on her character sheet soooooooo.... Maybe I need the ASI, maybe I don't.

I don't remember my stats but from highest to lowest its

CHA, DEX, CON, INT, WIS, STR

with wisdom and strength both being a 9.

My con is at an odd number so if I do take the ASI, Id bump my con and str. I love my dumb bard, even if she is book smart. Plus she has to gain some muscle from sparring and adventuring. C'mon.
