The Laconia (displacement - 19,695 brt) was torpedoed by two torpedoes from U-156 at 22:07 local time on 12 Sep 1942 at the point with coordinates 05.05S, 11.38W (about 360 miles northeast of Ascension Island in the South Atlantic), having on board 2,741 people: a crew of 136 people, 80 civilians, 268 passengers and about 1,800 Italian prisoners, accompanied by 160 Polish soldiers. Lakonia sank after 1 hour 16 minutes at 23:23. Killed were 97 crew sailors, 133 passengers, 1,394 Italian prisoners and 33 Polish soldiers, the remaining 1,084 people (including 415 Italian prisoners) were in the water.

On 13 September at 06:00 a.m., the U-156 broadcasted a clear message that it would not attack any rescue ship if it was not itself attacked. (Original text – If any ship will assist the ship-wrecked ‘Laconia’-crew, I will not attack providing I am not being attacked by ship or air forces. I picked up 193 men. 4, 53 South, 11, 26 West – German submarine).

On the morning of 15 September, German submarines U-506 and U-507 and the Italian Capellini arrived to help U-156. On 16 September at 11:25 am, a cluster of German submarines and people in the water was discovered by an American Consolidated B-24 Liberator bomber from the air base on Ascension Island, the pilot of which, Lieutenant James D. Harden, after receiving an order from the base at 12:32, made an attack. All three submarines hastily plunged below the water level, leaving hundreds of people in the water. Between 17 and 20 September 1942, the remaining approximately 900 people were taken aboard by three ships from Vichy France and landed at various African ports. A small part of the Italian prisoners remained aboard these three German submarines.

This incident was the basis for the issuance on 17 September 1942 of the order Triton Zero (Laconia-Befehl/Order Laconia) to all Kriegsmarine submarine commanders, forbidding any attempts to rescue the crews of sunken ships, that is, to catch the drowning, transfer them to lifeboats, return inverted boats to normal position, provide food and water to victims.

By lap 34 she was still in the lead. Lando however had gained many positions and was trailing close behind in P2 now.

“Lando is behind you y/n”, her race engineer reminded her of her teammate’s position.

“Has he asked for team orders yet”, she asked him jokingly.

“Erm… no I don’t believe so— no he hasn’t.. why?”

“Will, what’s my gap to Y/n?” Lando asked his engineer.

After hearing this, Lando chuckled and tried to increase his speed on his old tires. But, Y/n kept pressing.

“Tell her I don’t need Team orders to overtake her,” Lando told Will.

Two laps later and he was still behind Y/n

“Y/n were going to need to swap positions. Lando is clocking in better speeds right now and it’s for the good of the team.”

Hot take or whatever but I don't think we should trust a guy who gets really distracted by squirrels and balls and a kitten who could easily get hurt to protect our city. Lightning Dude IS one of the better options as they ARE a highly durable and strong robot, but The Bark Knight and Cat Kid maybe aren't our best bets, they could get hurt easily and aren't exactly professionals.

Don't get me started on the Friendly Friends, I don't think we can trust two guys who JUST left the same exact trio that was responsible for that marshmallow factory's destruction (which left many injured, some DEAD), what if they're pretending? Also the bugs could easily get killed, they're small and fragile, the most work they can do without a high risk of getting smashed is spying on villains.

He grew to be a young man of few words, but his presence alone was commanding despite his boyish charm.

Eventually, the night wound down, and the team started to leave. Exchanging their regards and heading back to their respective hotel stays. Y/N found herself lingering around the restaurant balcony, unsure if it was the adrenaline from the race or something else that kept her there. Something within her didn't want to bed goodnight.

As she stepped outside, the cool night air hitting her skin, she heard a voice behind her. "Heading out?"

She turned to see Jungwoo, his hands in his pockets, watching her with that familiar calm expression. A smirk softly forming on his face as he looked at her fondly. Not sure if it was his smile lines or the fact that he's her boss that made her nervous. The wine from dinner made it harder to tell this time. "Yeah, just needed some fresh air," she replied, leaning against the balcony railing. Their exhanges were always polite. Just polite.

He moved closer, standing beside her, and for a moment, they just stood there in silence, the distant sounds of the city surrounding them.

"You did really well today," Jungwoo said after a beat, his voice low and steady. Eyes looking down due their height difference.

"And you already said that," Y/N teased, glancing up at him with a small smile.

"And I meant it." His tone was serious, and when she looked at him, she could see the intensity in his eyes again—the same look he’d had after Bahrain, after every race, really. There was something there, something unspoken, but heavy in the air between them.

"Thanks," she said softly, her pulse quickening under his gaze.

For a moment, neither of them spoke. The tension hung thick between them, and Y/N could feel her heart racing, unsure of what would happen next. Jungwoo was always composed, always in control, but tonight, there was a different energy about him—an edge that she hadn’t seen before.

"You should get some rest," he finally said, his voice quieter now. "We’ve got a long season ahead."

Y/N nodded, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that this wasn’t just about racing anymore. There was something more between them, something unspoken but undeniable.

"See you tomorrow," she said, turning to walk away.

But as she took a few steps, she heard his voice again, soft but unmistakable.

"Y/N."

She turned back, her heart pounding in her chest.

Jungwoo didn’t say anything for a moment, just looked at her with that same intense gaze. Then, with a small, almost imperceptible smile, he nodded.

"Goodnight."

And just like that, he disappeared into the night, leaving Y/N standing there, her mind racing with thoughts she hadn’t allowed herself to entertain until now.

This is very tricky cause Knightfall Saga is sorta essential but JPV is like. Not OOC. Because this is the most important arc of him. But he’s something here. This is also tricky cause Knightfall is so long (ALBEIT EXTRENELY ENJOYABLE) to read but chasing down indvl issues for the reading order sucks so bad. Knightfall took me longer to read than the whole 100-issue Azrael series 4 that reason. If you could find an omnibus for you to read it in, that would be ideal. But! ok first of all congrats on step 1 of your ship but second of all as someone who has never watched but wants to catch up with no time to watch seven seasons: best meta to read first? when exactly do both characters start appearing on the show? If it’s later than s1 I may be able to watch enough of it. But yea most importantly where to start with meta for the ship and has anyone done a primer for the ship I could read? No rush and sorry if this is too much work for you!

Thank you so much for the congrats! XD It's a delight to have been screaming, "Buck is bisexual!" since ep 107 and get to 704, and get it confirmed as canon. ^u^

Well, I guess the good news for you is that Eddie doesn't appear in s1, so if you're less interested in seeing the shown when it was only featuring Buck out of the ship, then go ahead and skip that. I do think it matters to see that season, to better understand Buck's journey, and also why Eddie was such an important and positive person in his life once they became friends (plus s1 is just 10 eps), but if you're more inclined to skipping, Eddie shows up in 201.

As for meta, I didn't sit down to write anything until the end of both s2 and the first half of s3, by which point I felt like I would explode if I didn't. So, that meta was more summarized than my weekly Buddie meta posts I started doing starting in the second part of s3. And you can probably just... skim through that first round of Buddie meta (it looks like it has a lot of parts, but some are quite short) and my other buddie meta posts (which you can find through my pinned post) to get a good idea of the Buddie r/s overall.

Honestly, the big moments that really cemented things, are the beginning of Buddie, in the first few eps of s2, ep 210 which gives us our first glimpse of Buck and Eddie being co-parents to Chris, 218 where you see how much they've come to mean to each other already, the start of s3, 309 and THE kitchen scene (don't ask, but it will be THE kitchen scene for you as well, once you've watched it), the end of s4 and the shooting storyline, s5's best Buddie moments were IMO in 504, 506, 513 and 514, s6 was a bit of a mess, but eps 610 to 612 or so are probably the vital ones. So if you're interested, you can check out the weekly meta posts for those specific eps.

Canadian exports to the United States are beginning to decrease in light of the trade war. Statistics Canada announced that exports to the United States, Canada’s largest trading partner, declined 6.6% during the first month of tariffs while imports from the United States fell 2.9%. March 2025 was the second-highest recorded monthly increase in non-US trade for Canada.

Exports to nations outside the US rose 24.8%. Overall exports in March 2025 reached $69.9 billion, a slight decrease from February’s $70.04 billion posting, yet volume rose by 1.8%. The United Kingdom has been purchasing unwrought (crude) gold exports from Canada this year, totaling C$2.01 billion in January, C$1.64 billion in February, and C$1.64 billon this March.

Canada’s crude oil sea exports doubled on an annual basis to 8 million barrels this month. The United Kingdom and the Netherlands imported 69% of all crude oil exports to Europe. Hong Kong also increased its crude imports from Canada in March.

Overall merchandise trade exports declined 0.2% for the month, with imports falling 1.5%. The trade deficit fell to C$506 million, notably less than the prior month’s C$1.4 billion deficit as Canada is seeking buyers.

Canada cannot fully rely on trade outside the US. March saw a 6.6% monthly decline in exports to the US, which is bad news for Canadian businesses. Trade with the US for March was still strong at US$140.5 billion, notably due to an increase in pharmaceuticals and medicines ahead of forthcoming industry-specific tariffs. Autos also saw an uptick ahead of industry-specific tariffs, posting a 7.7% export increase for the month. Iron and steel products, already subject to a 25% tariff, fell 9%, while aluminum alloys and unwrought aluminum rose 4.4%.

The S&P Global Manufacturing PMI for Canada reached 39.1 in April 2025. Canadian manufacturing has not seen such a contraction since early COVID months when the global economy came to a standstill. Imposed and proposed US tariffs are stifling demand as purchasers do not know what to expect.
