asking exy fans "is he attractive or is he just tall and athletic" is so funny like - no no no we've accepted that he isn't attractive. he's just some guy. the most Some Guy some guy in the world. he probably uses 3 in 1 shampoo/conditioner/body wash and drives a big truck bc he thinks it looks manly. he has no discernable personality besides 'athlete' and listens to terrible country music. can he even read? questionable.

#stlrnation- We ran it down their throats
Good Friday, Stlrnation! What a week! Ravens week has come and gone, and for the first time in awhile the Steelers have 2 wins in a row vs Baltimore!
It seems that each year the rivalry gets closer and closer, this year was almost an exception to the rule which kind of stumped me. I was questioning to myself how this was possible. How the Steelers finally imposed their will on offense. How Joe Flacco after a beatdown to the Jaguars in London didn’t have a bounceback week. How ESPN is no longer even questioning if Joe Flacco is elite (the answer: mediocre). How the D showed itself as one of the league's best, and possibly Steel Curtain 4.91231? Sorry, I lost count on how many Defense we have claimed as the Steel Curtain v.0. But the best thing I got to ponder? How the and the Black and Gold took down the Ravens 26-9 and stole the spotlight as the AFC’s powerhouse Super Bowl Favorite.
The game started off a bit slow, the Steelers ran the ball on the first 2 possessions of the game right down the Ravens’ throats. In an homage to the great Kevin O’Shea said in an infamous matchup from Little Giants, “We get the ball, we run it down your throat. You get the ball, we take the ball FROM you, and then run it down your throat.” And the Steelers did just that. A buttload of Bell coming at the ravens in full force got the good guys up 3-0.
A couple punts later, another FG. 6-0 Steelers.
Then, Hewyard TAKES the ball FROM the Ravens, and we run Bell down their throats for a 13-0 lead.
The passing offense comes alive, and Ben finds good Ju-ju by hitting Smith-Schuster for a TD. 19-0. Ravens march downfield, miss a last second FG and its 19-0 at half.
Ben gets picked off, Ravens hit a FG, Steelers miss a FG. Ravens then score a Touchdown?! Shit. Maybe its time to panic a bit. I should have known the Ravens would mount some amazing comeback and bring order back to the dark side.
But no! Games close at 19-9 (yes, I mathed right, Bal missed an extra point) and one shining hope comes to his glory. Ryan Shazier picks one off and tips another to a Steelers defender. This leads to? Another instance of running it down your throat. Bell TD puts the gamer at its final score, 26-9.
Good things
Le'Veon Bell is back! 2TD 144 yd from the Bell-Cow in a great showing. The offensive line opened up some holes and Bell was able to take advantage.
Ryan Shazier should be defensive MVP of this team. 1 interception, 10 tackles, 1 deflected ball for a pick. At this rate, he may be close to the league's MVP.
Bad Things
Antonio Brown's diva moment of throwing the water cooler after Ben uses a checkdown. Brown was wide open deep and was visually frustrated with Ben, Todd Haley, and a cooler. It was a real TO or OBJ type of reaction from Brown. I love the guy, but let’s not be the NFL’s diva receiver. Soon enough, he’ll be in the parking lot doing sit ups while Rozenhaus barks about how grateful he is to Dallas for the money his client just bagged.
Next Week
Next week's game brings in the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fresh off a loss to the JETS of all teams, the Jaguars look to have a bounceback win as well as to bring back the bandwagon fans who wanted to ride the hot, young, upstart team. These types of teams are the ones I take issue with. I cannot understand the fascination of a team who's been rebuilding for years and finally pulls together a few wins getting all the attention. It could be that it is simply uncommon to see them win a few, but the Jaguars have perennially been in the same place since David Garrard played QB.
All this being said, the Jaguars always scare me. They're an old AFC Central division rival who have a history of upsetting the Steelers. My first Steelers game was one such game...and Rashean Mathis should eat shit. Mathis had a history of killing the Steelers in the clutch. Not an amazing Defensive back, however, one who always came up with an interception when the game was on the line (mostly due to Tommy Maddox). It was a freezing cold day in November, I brought a girl I was dating at the time to the game. I recall the wind swirling so much that our nachos went flying out of the tray and onto fellow members of Steeler nation. I recall yelling, waving the towel, and going bonkers for Renegade in the fourth quarter. I recall Willie Parker taking a long Play Action pass out of the backfield deep into opposing territory. But most importantly, I recall how scared I was in December of 2007 when we played the Jaguars.
Between 2005 and 2008, the obscure CB for the Jaguars tore the Steelers apart with 6 interceptions, 3 of them for touchdowns. Luckily, the game I went to did not end in this manner, however, it did end in a Steelers loss, my young ex-girlfriend driving through a snowstorm for the first time, and nacho cheese covering fellow fans.
#27 is a legendary Jaguar who Steeler Nation will never forget, from his game-winning pick-six of Tommy Maddox in overtime in 05, to his game ending pick the very next year, to another significant one in the 2008 playoffs, Mathis should have been acquired by us, he apparently really liked playing at Heinz Field in clutch moments. I can see #27 lined up in the Nickel on a key 3rd down taking it to the house in my dreams...
This week, I hope to start a new tradition against this team. One of winning. I have good luck charms on my side, a wonderful wife and a baby on the way. This years match up is a part of a 1 year wedding anniversary gift which we will be heading to the Pens/Preds NHL Finals rematch.
Day 2 you ask? Tailgating at Bettis Grille 36, yelling, Renegade, towels, sea of Yellow, chaotic fans, and me getting way too hyped up at 9am on a Sunday,
Once again, the Jaguars are up-and-down, we all watched them decimate the Ravens in London, then they laid up a stinker vs possibly the worst team in the league in the Jets. The similarities between the teams likely ends with the ups and downs of an NFL season, however this should be a hell of a matchup. Whatever happens, let's just hope that we dont see a CB wearing #27 suit up, or else the anniversary could be a rough one.

1, 2, 9, 16, 17, 20, 24, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30. did i go overboard haha? sorry if they're not the ones you wanted.
thank you! sorry for taking so long to respond, i wanted to make sure i had time to do them all
1. if someone wanted to really understand you, what would they read, watch, and listen to?
read Mystery Train by Greil Marcus, listen to Imperial Bedroom by Elvis Costello, and uhhh i dont really watch a lot of like, movies so maybe just set up like, a 24 hour stream of espn 30 for 30 documentaries because i have huge amounts of uselessly specific sports knowledge
2. have you ever found a writer who thinks just like you? if so, who?
i dont really think i have. i think john darnielle does a good job of writing his narrator’s voice in a way that kind of has a similar tone to the way my internal monologue goes, which i think is pretty close, but other than that i dont think so.
9. are you an artist?
sure. i guess you could say that. especially if youre into post-modernism
16. if you’d grown up in a different environment, do you think you’d have turned out the same?
oh almost definitely not. sometimes when i think about like, major pivotal moments in my life or like, people who changed me i realize how like, by chance a lot of those circumstances were, so i think had i been in a different environment i wouldnt have followed like, the same path thats led me to who i am now.
17. would you say your tumblr is a fair representation of the “real you”?
no? im not entirely sure how to answer this question. i think my tumblr reflects a lot of my interests and aesthetics and probably quite a few of my beliefs but i dunno if you get the whole picture from a blog tbh, i think a big part of the “real me” or w/e probably would be more than just like, the stuff i choose to share with other people?
20. would you rather be in Middle Earth, Narnia, Hogwarts, or somewhere else?
alright ive straight-up read none of those series, so uh, from what i know about them, i think hogwarts because having magic would be cool. but id rather live in like, the naruto universe because a) cool ninja powers and b) tenten
24. have you ever felt like you had a “mind-meld” with someone?
i guess? im not entirely sure if it was a “mind-meld” but ive met a handful of people where i feel like we click so well that i manage to bypass my inherent awkwardness and insecurities and just like, talk really easily without worrying as much cuz we just “get” each other. so if thats what a “mind-meld” is then yes.
25. could you live as a hermit?
oh no way. social anxiety aside i kinda need to be able to interact with people once in a while or i get pretty bored of myself. plus i dont think hermits have internet. or soda. really just a negative experience tbh.
26. how would you describe your gender/sexuality?
probably genderfluid and then uhhh, my friend said theres a term for being attracted to conventionally feminine traits, so i guess that? i dont really care about gender in terms of attraction/sexuality but i guess i people who are “girly” for lack of a better term. its all a bit of kerfuffle yknow.
28. on a scale from 1 to 10, how hard is it for someone to get under your skin?
hmm. im gonna say like 5? i think im capable of being pretty patient with certain things, or at least i think a lot of things that irritate people sort of just make me like, mildly frustrated but also amused. at the same time theres like, certain things that are like, immediately gonna make me annoyed with someone? like offensive/bigoted things escalate past getting under my skin real fast, but i dont even know if that counts tbh cuz thats not so much irritating as it is just being a bad person? so lets go with 5.
29. three songs that you connect with right now.
“Girl of the North Country” by Howard Tate
“Nobody But You” by Asie Payton
“Theme From Electric Surfboard” by Clarence Wheeler & The Enforcers
30. pick one of your favorite quotes.
“yer kawaii as heck niko” - nami “the” windycastle
