[ID: panels from chapter 256 of “yona of the dawn”. in the first panel, zeno stands up; his neck and robes are heavily stained with blood, and some of it is splattered on his cheek; he says, “i tried all i could to die…”. in the next panel, the phonomime “drip” is written twice in the corner, indicating that it’s coming from somewhere out of frame but zeno has yet to react to it. in the following panel, the dripping continues and he turns towards it. in the next panel, which is taking up most of the page, he stares at the source of the sound in horror. the final panel shows the roof of the palace; the sky above it is dark and cloudy, with sunlight beginning to break through the clouds. end ID.]
the dripping from out of frame, the slow turn, the hard cut……horror writers WISH they had a shoujo mangaka’s skill to invoke pure unadulterated dread
#u wanna know what i think the sound is? :) (<- was right about zeno not being able to kill himself and now my ego is massive)#i think the other dragons got pushed out of the chalice along with zeno and now they’re badly injured and bleeding#(hence the dripping)#idk what could horrify zeno at this point except being faced with the realization that his plan backfired not against HIM#bc he’s tried to off himself before and it never worked. but against the people he cares about and wanted to save#(in a deeply fucked up way and without asking if they even want that but he did want to save them and not just himself)#obviously as the optimistic theories guy i think they’ll all be okay#like. the dragon gods’ protection clearly hasn’t completely perished from the mausoleum AND riri’s running around administering aid outside#i don’t think they’ll die. but i do think kusanagi will continue trying to scare us with the possibility#anyway. what was i talking about#oh right! horror sequences in shoujo manga always go so hard i love it#akayona

Hello my friend, I just wanted to say thank you for telling me happy birthday and offering me this gift! Well, For my birthday request, I wanted to see if you could do a long story on my Oc Leah celebrating her birthday but in a special way. (She still has her powers of Emotion Empowerment and Spritiual Gateways/Tears(she can open portals to different places) with glowing stars/ balls of light. She has Flight, Telekinesis, Force fields, Teleporting, and Telepathy.
Birthday Bash
Word Count: 1400
A/N: Yay! I finally finished it! I hope you like it! I wanted to make you smile so I added some comedic moments in there.
“Get rid of them, Leorio!” Gon shouts out to his friend, the birthday decorations meant to be strung up for Leah’s surprise party are long forgotten as he and Killua struggle to hold Kurapika back.
“How dare you show up here you bastard!” Kurapika growls out, his scarlet eyes piercing into the silver ones of the leader of the phantom troupe that stood before him. Acting completely calm despite the fact a brawl could break out any minute. “Acting like you care for Leah! What a load of garbage!”
Chrollo lets out a mere chuckle at Kurapika insults. Choosing to not even spare him another word or glance anymore, Chrollo turns his attention to Illumi who stood next to him.
“I’m quite surprised you are here Illumi.” Chrollo questions, his eyes shifting down to look at the present tucked in Illumi’s hands.
“Really?”
“Of course~ I thought you didn’t like Leah very much.” Hisoka purrs out, swinging an arm over illumi’s shoulder as he uses his other hand to lift the lid of the present to take a look.
“I don’t.” Illumi deadpans back at the two not even fazing at their confused reactions before continuing, “Leah is just an important ally to the zoldyck as she is very useful to us. She is also a possible marriage candidate for my younger brothers and is able to—“
As Illumi drones on and on about why Leah is beneficial to the Zoldyck family, Gon, Killua, Leorio and Kurapika have moved to the corner to talk.
“I’m not going to have them here, Leorio.” Kurapika mutters out through gritted teeth. Sparing a disgusted glance at Chrollo as he clutches tighter onto the chains in his hands.
“Kurapika. I’m not happy that those three are here either but we don’t have much time.” Killua sighs out, already hating the fact he was going to allow his older brother to stay, “If we fight them now, not only would we likely lose but Leah’s surprise party would be ruined.”
Kurapika scoffs, his knuckles turning an unhealthy white from how tight they were balled up. He was internally fighting with himself; does he choose to kill the leader of the phantom troupe or does he just let it pass for now for Leah’s party. Damn it… Damn it… Damn it!
Leorio places a hand on a Kurapika shoulder and gives it a reassuring squeeze, “Kurapika. I know it’s hard but think about it. It’s only the leader right now, it would be much more beneficial to you if you wait to take out the other members first.”
Kurapika lets out a deep breath, pausing for a moment before speaking, “... Thank you Leorio. It’s just really hard… I just wanna…”
“I understand. Don’t worry Kurapika, it's only dealing with one member of the phantom troupe for an hour or two. Then after all this is over it’s fair gam—.”
A sudden loud knock at the door cuts Leorio’s speech off.
“Hey boss! We are here!” Shalnark shouts as he walks into the room with Phinks and Feitan trailing behind him; a tray of cupcakes clutched in his hands. “The others are on their way right now. Where should I—“
“Shit! Kurapika NO!”
—.—.—.—.—.—.—.—
“Mrs Melody. Where are we going?” Leah questions out loud, slightly tugging at the blindfold covering her eyes. The itchy fabric was beginning to irate her skin due to it being on so long.
“Just a little bit longer Leah. We are almost there.”
“But you said that ten minutes ago—“
A sudden loud crash of glass from down the hall cuts Leah off. Leah stands there a couple of moments, completely confused as to what is happening until a familiar voice sounds out from down the hall.
“I’ll take you on any day of the week, Chain User!”
“Well what are you waiting for? Come at me!”
Letting out a loud sigh, Leah slips the blindfold off of her eyes. It takes her a couple of minutes to adjust to the bright hallway lights before she makes her way to the door.
“U-uh Sorry Leah.” Melody mutters out, confused as she was unaware of the fact the phantom troupe were going to be at the party. If she knew ahead of time, she would have dragged Kurapika with her to go get Leah.
As Leah swings open the door she takes in the sight before her.
In the center of the room stood Nobunaga and Kurapika ready to brawl it out with a small semi circle of people, mostly troupe members, surrounding them to watch. It also seemed as though this wasn’t the first brawl of the night as Leah spots Machi and Shalnark in the corner; blood dripping out of the bruised nose of the manipulator as Machi attempts to check the damage of the injury.
Looking away from the fight, Leah notices the Zoldyck Family in the opposite corner of the room. Poor Killua… Leah felt bad for the boy as she noticed him being tugged between his eldest brother, Illumi, and Alluka. She was rooting for Alluka to win as she liked the girl much more than Illumi. Hopefully, Illumi summons Nanika and—
A sudden tug on Leah’s clothing snaps her out of her thoughts.
“Ah! Hello Kalluto!” She shouts out, surprised as she hadn’t seen Kalluto in forever. She really missed their quiet company as she often enjoyed hanging out with them.
“Uh… L-Leah. I… Umm.” Kalluto stumbles out, eventually giving up what they were trying to say and instead shoving their present into Leah’s hands. “Here.”
Holding the slightly crinkled wrapped present, Leah smiles to herself.
“Thank you!” She says gratefully, “Is it okay if I open it now?”
After Kalluto nods their head, she begins to rip into the present.
“Ah! Kalluto it's amazing!” Leah shouts out, carefully lifting the necklace from out of its box. The silver chain feels cold and smooth against her fingers as she holds it in her palm. At the front of the thin chain hangs a small origami crane, Which Leah guessed was hand folded by Kalluto. “Thank you very much. I’ll treasure it forever.”
As Leah slips on the necklace, She misses how Kalluto’s face flares up in a light blush. Bashful and flustered, Kalluto uses the chance to slip away and hide behind his mother.
“Hey Kalluto what happened before I— Kalluto?” Leah questions, confused as she looks around. Where had they gone off to?
In her moment of confusion, Leah misses the fact that Leorio was stumbling behind her struggling to keep her cake from tippi—
“Ah! Shit!” Leorio shouts out as the cake slips from his fingers, coming crashing on top of Leah.
“Leah!” She hears shouted out from people around her. With the help of others, Leah rubs the frosting and cake off of her face so she could see.
“Leah are you okay?” Kurapika asks concerned as he carefully picks out chunks of cake and candles from her hair.
“Yeah I’m j—“ Leah is cut off as Kurapika slaps something next to her head.
“Don’t you dare touch her.” Kurapika growls out, pulling Leah closer to him as he protects her from Chrollo. Chrollo looks down at his hand in surprise, a light red bloom already forming on the back of it.
“Why I outta!” Nobunaga shouts out, about to jump in to protect his boss until Leorio gets in his way. “Hey! Move it!”
“Now now. Let's all calm down.” Zeno grumbles out, stepping closer to Kurapika and Chrollo, “Starting another argument isn’t going to get any of us anywhere. We are all here to celebrate Leah’s birthday aren’t we? So, let’s push our troubles aside. It’s only for a couple of hours, I believe you children can control yourselves until then.”
Letting out a small huff, Mom-pika begrudgingly lets Leah go and allows Chrollo to help get some of the cake out of her hair. As Leorio attempts to keep Kurapika sane, Gon and Killua come bounding over with a cupcake lit up with candles.
“Happy Birthday to You...
Happy Birthday to You...
Happy Birthday Dear Leah...
Happy Birthday to You.”
Blowing out the candles on the tiny cupcake, Leah smiles up at her friends around her.
Even though it hasn’t been a picture perfect birthday party so far, it was still great in her books.
