HI HI HELLO!!!! just discovered your account and i. am. OBSESSED?? love how you portray arthur my love!!! <33 and!! if it would be possible, if you could do an rdr2 matchup for me 🫣🫣 i’m jules, 21, she/her :)) I really love art and music, i love drawing, painting and playing the electric guitar :)) i loove love animals! i have 4 dogs and i love them to death <3 i have adhd so i tend to be hyper sometimes and am talkative and get hyperfixated on a lot of stuff LOL and am passionate about SO. MANY. THINGS. just give me any topic and i’ll ramble over it until u make me stop. also I always prioritize everyone else’s feelings over mine! they deserve that anyways <33 and thank u in advance!! LOVE YOUU
(2/2) omg wait i sent it early LOL but just to add,, i tend to be blunt unintentionally and sometimes start fights even if i don’t mean to 😭😭 i’m sarcastic at times too and sometimes it irritates people LOL that’s all!!! THANKS AGAIN MWAH
No person should be more important and deserving than yourself, my love. Your feelings matter and are important and they should be treated as such 🎀
Tumblr media
I match you up with… Arthur!
Tumblr media
He actually finds your bluntness attractive. It’s nice when people are straightforward, he’s not good with hints. Just tell him what you feel and how things are, he’ll appreciate it.
Absolutely enamored, this guy. He could listen to you talk for hours and would never tell you to be quiet.
Sit next to him at the campfire with his arm around your midsection and just talk to him about your day or a subject you’re currently interested in.
“Hmmm, is that right, doll?” He asks, prompting you to elaborate.
“Didn’t know that, s’interesting.” As he traces circles with his thumb into your skin.
He’s not that great with emotions or reading people, but he’d never let you prioritize him over yourself. Your emotions are just as valid as his. Learns to start loving himself just to prove that you can too. It benefits the both of you.
You make him feel loved and appreciated. At first he questioned what a sweet young lady like you would want to do with an old, ugly bastard like him. Until he realizes that he’s someone else in your eyes. And he is stubborn, it takes a bit and it’s not easy, but eventually he accepts that someone can see him in a completely different light.
Knows how much you love animals, so whenever he sees something interesting when he’s out he will sketch it for you. Will go through the pages of his sketchbook and show you the coolest animals he found on his travels. Will insist his sketches are not that good, he just wanted to show you. Quite bashful about it though.

Rules for Requesting and Asks!
Heyo, you beautiful little bean! Before I start the rules and all that jazz:
(or shoulder pats, if you don’t like them hehe)
So: Rules. Oh boy. I’m not a fan of rules-- rules feel like it’s just “blah blah blah, do this, not that, blah blah” so Imma try to make these as easy as possible for y’all who are excited to ask >:D
1. Soulmate/Normal Matchups (Closed)
What I Ask of You:
You can be as detailed as you want, or you can just make it the bare minimum, do whatever is easiest for you, my dear :D
Just try to include enough about you so that I know which result/outcome would make you the most comfortable
I might be a bit dismissive, so I’ll send you a notif for when I get the ask! Anons are also 1000 percent welcome :]
Yes, I have dedication issues. This is why I’m only in love with fictional characters and not real people xD!
Oh, and I won’t match you with Willie or Alex unless you’re also a dude, but I might match you two has best friends!
Please try to be as respectful as possible in your ask 🥺🥺🥺
I’m not asking for you to worship me or scream at me with thank you’s, but just don’t scream at me for taking too long. Try not to curse every two words because I’m trying to keep my brain *jazz hands* holy
No, jkjk it’s just that there might be younger users reading over these xDD
OKAY SO ANYWAYS
Try to include:
I literally don’t care!! I want you to feel as free as possible while writing yours. Talk about anything you want. I don’t care if you speak of you and your passion for eating raw cookie dough (but same lmao), or if you hate almond milk. Just talk about whatever you want!! I’m here to make people smile and nothing else, sugarcakes! d;
What You Get in Return:
Over 500 words worth in writing per each fandom
Yes, over 500 (it hurts like heck but it’s *throws skittles* okay)
A gif/fanart piece per fandom
You’ll get yours back either: Within 3 days, if you only requested only one fandom and you were very nice hehehehehe , three days if you wre still hecking amazing but I was busy, or it can go to AT MOST, AT MOST I PROMISE around 18 days if I’m having: an exam week, a pinned post, getting a lot of asks, or yours was really complicated and my brain exploded
At times, it may never come if *cough* TUMBLR EATS IT
I will also throw you fifty virtual hugs and skittles
And yes, every ask comes with a thousand hugs, compliments, and shoulder pats!!
A bunch of dating headcanons
If you put in your name, yes, I can customize ;D
What the person I matched you with does when you feel down
How they support you
How you support them
90 percent of it is mainly me rambling about how sweet everyone who asks is, but what can I say? Y’all are precious as heck
Example of Matchup: Hi! Can I please have a matchup for a male character in Julie and the Phantoms (besides willie + alex)? I’m an INFP-T, 5′4″, Aries, and I’m also very annoying haha. I like writing, dance, and singing-- usually, I write a lot of fantasy novels and I want to be an author when I grow up! I also really like baking desserts, particularly brownies, and I also like to make mocktails if I ever get the chance. I love reading, John Green books especially, and I’m usually the funny person in the group to lift everyone’s spirits. Thank you so much :)
2. Band and Song Matchups (Closed)
These are definitely one of the most fun things to do! You can ask for this to be included in your other matchup, but a quick summary of it would be:
Send me your description, but this time add your physical description as well!
A few of the extra-curricular activities you do
Send up to 8 emojis describing your personality and aesthetic (haha it sounds weird but please trust me on this XD)
Your favorite JATP song
Your favorite genre, and/or your fashion style
And wabam, that’s it!
I’ll reply with who I’d see you as in the band, and what song you would be in Julie and the Phantoms. Seems ridiculous, but heyy ya know XD
3. Headcanons, Imagines, Blurbs, Scenarios, Full Stories
PLEASE SEND HOWEVER MANY NUMBER OF THESE LIKE AJAJJAJAJAJAJAJA
I’ll write for any “X READER” that you request
Literally anything
Angst, major character death, if you’re sad, I GOTCHU
Request for as many characters as you want!!
I can write NSFW, BUT I SUCK AT IT SO PLEASE TRY NOT TO REQUEST IT LMFAO
I’ll write everything else
No, like everything else ever
Okay I won’t write like a Reggie x Cowboy bootes but ya know (...that’s actually not a bad idea-)
It doesn’t just have to be a character insert, it can be anything else!! I really don’t mind :]
TRY TO INCLUDE:
What word count you want (or you can write that you’re chill with anything)
Your gender
Which POV you want it in
And I’ll send you what date I can get yours in!
4. Customized Asks:
I have never done this before, so this is kinda new!
IN CUSTOMIZED ASKS:
Put in a lengthy and concise description of yourself-- it should be a lot more detailed than a matchup. Include your personality type, a lot about your personality, anything you want to add, but make it worth it!! Write A LOT about yourself!! Also, be sure to include your name.
Once you have the full thing, private-message me (please make sure you have an account!!) and I’ll send you my Tumblr asks email so you can send your description (or, send it in the submit form or asks, if you’re okay with it being public).
In return, I write you a reader insert with your real name (not y/n hehe) and make it customized just for you. I’ll make it perfect (or try to,) with your personality, your height, your likes, your interests, and your name so that it’s built just for you and no one else!!
The best part??
YOU DON’T HAVE TO PAY ME REAL MONEY HEHEHEHEHHEH
That’s right! A customized ask that goes from 3,000-10,000 words that should come within three weeks! Instead, all I ask is for some support in any way 🥺🥺🥺 It can be through reblogs, (remember: REBLOGS> LIKES d;), a simple follow or shoutout, or even just a thank you. I’m only here to make people happy!! Thank you so much if you do plan on supporting <333</p>
4. Random Asks/Advice
Scream at me. Vent whatever you want to me. Ask me to help with your math homework. Your ELA homework. Ask for love advice. Tell me about what you did this morning. I LOVE, LOVE GETTING THESE ASKS!!
I love it when people come to me not just for asks and such, but just to tell me about their lives or to ask me quetsions!! And I bet a lot of other creators do, as well! So please support them <3</p>
SCREAM AT ME ALL YOU WANT HON, IM HERE TO LISTEN
I’m sorry that this was a bit long, but if you read the full thing, HIGH FIVE >:3
Thank y’all so much!! Stay safe ^U^

1. Matchups
What I Ask of You:
Please, please, please try to keep it at one fandom per ask!!!
I’ve been doing a lot of Legend of Korra and Avatar: The Last Airbender asks, but my brain doesn’t function that way to keep at it for two fandoms. It’s hard to stay focused at two fandoms and stay with it and stay dedicated
Luckily, you can send requests for as many fandoms as you want, but my description will only be at most 50 words ^^
Yes, I have dedication issues. This is why I’m only in love with fictional characters and not real people xD!

my suband thoughts pt. 2
(me trying to make this post for the 3rd time now) i realized i wrote like a 10 page dissertation instead and i refuse to post all that so i’m just going to copy over a few and keep the rest in drafts for when i want to reference them later
i will include results and elimination spoilers in this post so if you want to avoid those then don’t read this one...i try to keep things spoiler free but i just. have things to say about the results specific to round 2 :-)
jtbc finally striking down accounts on twitter and instagram for posting suband content....i think tumblr is safe bc this website is dead so i’ll continue posting i guess??? they haven’t done anything to that one youtube that’s been posting all the performance videos too so who knows
should i start with more contestant based random thoughts first
i was scammed by jtbc teaser editor bc they used a clip of jeongho “singing” into the mic in their preview and i waited 2 whole episodes (his team performed last in round 2) for me to find out it was a autotuned mic and a vocoder HELP MEEEE SAKJFDSKF at that point literally i could only laugh
but he plays contrabass? he actually majored in contrabass? or maybe that was his old major, he’s still in school atm since wonsang said they go to the same one but he had educational training on it which is really cool
wait a minute......now that i think about it, that same teaser clip also spoiled the result of yeji winning bc they showed us that she was sitting in the waiting room during eliminations even though they haven’t performed yet (which means we knew her team won AND they already showed us all the matchups before so we also knew who she beat) WHO WAS EDITING THIS LMAO and it wasn’t even a accidental leak like she was sitting in the background, it was literally her reaction as the main focus and everything omg
hwang inkyu hello??? he’s movning’s bassist and he has a combined total of maybe 3 lines of airtime so far i wish he’d speak more bc i was so scared he’d get his ass kicked off the show bc he wouldn’t have been able to make a lasting impression but thank god hwanglin picked him up and seems like he’s going to be moving on with his team in the next round too (good for them the stage was so good i wanted to post it but haven’t yet..)
i used to really like movning’s music but their music direction went into a style i don’t listen to much so i haven’t checked into them recently, tbh i didn’t even know they auditioned until i looked at the full list of contestants later because their stage was cut out and only inkyu made it in
park dawool and hwang hyunjo both have galaxy brains and i would trust them with my life - yea i will not elaborate much because this post is already long even after i shortened it bc i talk too much but hyunjo making entire ppt slides? to present her theories and ideas? yea she’s absolutely ready for everything, for real she’s carrying her teams to victory
leenzy’s 2nd round team was so strong that i thought she got to pick really early (since they showed us all the team formations before airing the actual performances with the behinds for pickings and stuff) but she was actually the 2nd to last pair?? so all that’s left is her > the guy she chose to be her opponent, and then the poor guy that gets to pick from the remaining 6 or so and the final team of the ones unchosen
i was really shocked to find out no one wanted nakyung and ahkyung when i thought they were some of the best :-( i really still can’t tell if the mixing of male and female was a good idea esp since it was so skewed male in the first place ugh in round 2 it seems like the girls are getting shafted???
out of the 6 girls (that can be picked since 3 are frontmen!), 3 of them were not picked up until basically the very end when you don’t really have many choices left...nakyung (guitar), ahkyung (drums), and sujin (vocals)...and they’re all really good?? sujin ended up on the second to last team (basically the last team if we’re being honest since the actual last team is sadly the band of leftovers) and i just don’t understand why they weren’t picked up earlier...i can understand sometimes vocalists can get shafted because the show starts out with a loooot of vocalists so it’s hard to find a place for all of them but guitar? drums? u can definitely pick them...there’s literally only 7 or so drummers to begin with and one has been glued to crackshot the entire time
before the season started i was already terrified that the girls might get shafted because jtbc didn’t want girls auditioning in the first place but it was fine in the first round but now the second round made me think about that again.....it’s worse when they spin the whole “yes!! all girl band!! girl power!!!” when the reality was they weren’t picked up this whole time. annoying.
but this blame has to be shouldered by jtbc bc they wanted to keep it all boys but bc of public reactions (rightfully so) they decided to let female contestants audition but then it turned out that they barely pass any female contestants so it’s still terrible?!! i’ll just write this up that teams are still trying to figure themselves out and work with different people for now....maybe i’m just worried for nothing
not to absolutely curse myself but i think most of my favorites might make it at least to round 4 and i feel like a decent amount will make it to semis so haha /knock on wood but i really hope this stays true...i just need nokdu to continue taking care of hyunsang and make city pop bops together because the judges seem to like that so far
i’m just worried about demian....the judges keep saying he’s improved so much but why do i feel like they will cut him as soon as they need to eliminate more people.....i’m not as worried about round 3 (unless his team falls on their face) but round 4 is where i’m really scared...it’s the last round before the real deal and in season 1 the round 4 eliminations hurt so bad...they cut like 9 people or something
i mean he has his own career as a soloist so he doesn’t need a band like some of the other contestants but i think he really enjoys being in a team with others, honestly i don’t even know if his company would allow for him to be in a side band? even if he were to make it? like mone made it but all their members had solo careers and with the rose and woosung having problems it must be way they just decided to stop after the show unlike the other semis teams purple rain, lucy (they did have a vocalist change since joohyuk stayed with his current band gift), aftermoon (but i guess their dj dropped out i don’t know what happend with dpole??), and of course the winners hoppipolla all continued making music together under the same name
honestly if he makes it past the judges i don’t even know if the public would vote for him, atm his popularity with the public seems nonexistent? lol but to be fair, for most contestants it’s like that, but i do wish he’d become more popular
actually should i be more worried for haeun...she plays classic guitar and usually they don’t like classic leaning instruments but she showed she can sing so i hope she gets to stay
there’s danny too but i think i have given up on him making it until the end, the only way is if he manages to stay on teams that win so he’ll never be up for elimination but i feel like they’re out to get him TT_TT
but i’ve condensed my solid favorites to just demian, yeji, haeun, and jeongho...maybe i’ll pick a 5th eventually but i still like everyone i put in my first post! i really want hyunsang to make it far though bc the vibraphone brings me so much joy so he can be honorary 5th for now
about eliminations though, right now the judges have eliminated less than last season which is odd for jtbc because i feel they keep to their formats almost exactly so now i’m just ?????? if there’s still more people currently....what is going to happen? are they going to make the judges cut more during rounds 3 and 4? or they trying to equalize the semifinals teams since last year some teams had 4 people while others had 5? are they going to do the unthinkable and give us more rounds or semifinal teams? (i wish) anyways kinda scared to see what round 3 eliminations bring now...
the actual eliminations have been mostly as expected for me, still sad but i guess since i sensed it coming it became more a feeling of like “it couldn’t be helped” and also early eliminations hurt less in general because you had less time to get to know the contestants which is why i’d rather they just eliminate now than later if they were going to do it anyways like pls spare me the pain (but this is selfish and contestants probably want to stay as long as possible)
one surprising one was ludi??? he’s a dj but he’s literally done nothing wrong so far i was just wtf??!! when they eliminated him like it felt out of nowhere.....i feel like djs have so much potential on this show because of all the sounds they have access too but i guess the judges aren’t found of edm noise
also demian nation we rise at dawn, when he said “i’m not okay” like- this song really meant a lot to him too i hate thisssss
Tumblr media
PLS I JUST WANT HIM TO WIN ONCE SO BADLY but next time, thanks to kfans detective work on the teaser, it looks like junseo (the smol piano child) picked him and jeongho to be on his team (maybe there’s a 4th member too??) and i am putting my faith into that team now pls help my winless boys
the fact that jeongho is winless is almost funny to me because it’s also obvious he’s a judges favorite but i mean that doesn’t translate to wins just i’m pretty sure he’ll make it to the end regardless (like bohoon the vocalist of purple rain lost all 3 /technically all 4/ rounds and still made it), he plays bass and no bassist has ever been eliminated on the show yet so cheers to that
round 4 was special since they switched over to a number format and no band versus band i don’t remember if the team with the top points were immune to elimination or not (or maybe just an unwritten rule bc why the heck would you do that to them after giving them the best score) but the rest of the teams were fair game - which is exactly why this elimination round is the scariest and not good for my heart especially after i had spent weeks watching them sing and have fun..........
ok now to complain about the judges AGAIN: why are the judges thoughts on what they want in a band so damn similar anyway?
i mentioned this in my first post already about how i dislike the judging atmosphere
Tumblr media
but now i actually see it...in the numbers...like s1 there was a bit more taste diversity within the judges but now i feel like i’m seeing a lot of 4:1 or 5:0 scores so i went to see the breakdown out of the 15 stages we had so far
5:0 score - 6
4:1 score - 7
3:2 score - 2
compared to s1 (out of 14 only because they edited out one pair of battles completely so we never knew their score...)
5:0 score - 2
4:1 score - 6
3:2 score - 6
looking at that...it makes me feel sad....especially in the early 2 rounds it must be demoralizing to keep getting met with 5:0 loss and to be very honest and in s1 the number of 5:0 did increase in round 3 but that was when more teams started to figure themselves out so it makes sense that some would start pulling ahead
i’m really tired of listening to the judges agreeing with each other all the time, it makes it seem like the vision they have for the band was already set from day 1 unlike in s1 where everyone went in with no expectations because it was a brand new program, zero expectations, zero fans, just some kids wanting to make music and that’s what it should be like....music shouldn’t be limiting like this, the judges seem a little closed minded and now i’m 100% sure they have certain band styles in mind (i don’t know if it’s the judges only or if it’s jtbc producers too that’s causing this)
and i see other ifans saying this exact same thing on twitter now too so it’s not just me that picked up on this so safe to say we can’t all be extremely sensitive right
like the contradictory comments -
dongheon’s 2nd round team was told their original song was great and lovely but they brought nothing new to the table and that it was too standard, “just like any other rock/rock ballad song” when i thought the leenzy’s team (the one they went up against) also had a pretty standard? pop rock song? absolutely nothing wrong with it either, even the judges said that the song was not complicated at all but complimented them on their “band feel” so i guess as long as they enjoyed the vibe of the team and it suited the type of band style they have in mind it’s suddenly fine to make a simple song
i’m not saying her song was worse than his (i enjoyed both and seeing original songs performed make me very happy), i’m just a little confused at the judges comments for them both especially when one performed after the other, you really don’t see the bias in your words?
dawool was told his song composition in the first stage was a little too...nuanced(?) and that they wish he could just keep thing simpler even though he thought he toned down already and kept things simple, so round 2 he decided to just work with someone that makes mainstream music (davii) to fulfil what the judges want
seulong’s 2nd round team decided to go heavier on the instrumental side because they figured they didn’t want to go head to head with one of the favorite vocalists of the show (sorry yeji, ur my queen but ur also the judges’ queen too :---( ) but got criticized for a similar reason...yoo heeyeol saying that their composition was “fun for the brain” but if he were thinking about the general public he doesn’t think they would like this type of music, literally saying that the general public do not have the music knowledge or brain capacity to understand all the skill based playing going on musically and so won’t enjoy it because it wouldn’t appeal to their hearts................(ok sure call us dumb it’s true but won’t appeal to our hearts? music can sound intricate and fun? we can enjoy some funky strings guitar riffs without actually knowing all the details ya know)
they also kept telling them (seulong’s team) “oh i loved this” “i wish there was a band like this” “very cool” and gave them no votes??? if you wish a band like this exist then why? would? you? not? vote? for them??? like i can’t tell if those were consolation comments or what
man judges rant ended up being long asf and i’m usually not affected by them and what they say but i was already feeling an odd vibe from the beginning and now seeing 5:0 after 5:0 after 5:0 really did it for me
overall, a not very fun post to read through it’s just more ranting than anything....i’m dying for a big pop off performance so i can successfully gauge the public opinion so far but i’ll refrain from posting my guess until at least the end of round 3, also i believe the team vibe usually outweighs solo popularity but we don’t know any teams yet (at least i can’t guess anyone yet like i could in s1) so we will still have to see!!
i’m pretty sure only i would look and read through these long ass posts of mine lol but if anyone makes it this far i hope you enjoy my crazy ramblings and see you in my suband thoughts pt.3

Houston Vs. Oklahoma Betting Preview: Odds, Predictions, and Picks
After a full slate of games on Saturday, the only college football game on tap Sunday is a primetime matchup between Houston and No. 4 Oklahoma. By the way, those games yesterday were quite profitable. What up, Auburn -3.5?

Hell of a play call, Gus Malzahn.
As for tonight, this game may not be particularly competitive as Oklahoma enters as an overwhelming favorite, but there are a couple of fun storylines worth tracking.
Before we get to those, you can add a little extra intrigue to your Labor Day Weekend Sunday now that PA online sports betting and NJ online sports betting are live and legal.
As for the game, former Alabama starting quarterback Jalen Hurts will make his much anticipated debut with the Sooners. Oklahoma has had an embarrassment of riches at the quarterback position in recent seasons with Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray at the helm, and there’s plenty of interest in how Hurts will follow their Heisman acts. His speed, strength, and moderately improved passing skills should play well in the Sooners offense, making Oklahoma once again a College Football Playoff contender.
Meanwhile, former West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen makes his debut with Houston. He replaces Major Applewhite, who was fired after the Cougars wasted a 7-1 start last season. If he wants to start with a bang, he will need to do something he failed to do in seven tries with the Mountaineers – beat Oklahoma.
While the Sooners are familiar with Heisman hype, Holgorson inherits one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the country in D’Eriq King. He is the only returning quarterback in the nation to account for 50 touchdowns (36 passing, 14 rushing) a season ago, and it’s not impossible that he finds himself in Heisman contention as the season wears on.
Let’s run down everything you need to know before locking in your picks for this one.

Win Probability
ESPN’s FPI index gives Oklahoma a 95.5% win probability.
Oklahoma is currently -1350 on the moneyline at FanDuel when this story was written (late Sunday morning), which is an implied probability of 93.1%. Believe it or not, that means there is actually some value on the Oklahoma moneyline compared to the FPI probability.
Conversely, with FanDuel’s +800 moneyline odds (a win probability of 10.8%), there is no value on a Houston moneyline play when compared with FPI probability.
Either way, just know that this would be an upset of monumental proportions if Houston rolls into Normal and finds a way to win.
Betting Trends
Why Backing Oklahoma is a Good Bet
Top 5 Trends
First, Top 5 teams at home in September favored between 21-23.5 points are 6-2 ATS. When they are favored between 21-24 points in non-conference September home games, they are 8-2 ATS since 2005.
Big 12 Power
When Big 12 home teams are favored between 21-24 points at home in September, they are 21-12 ATS since ’05. In the same time span, when they are favored between 22-24 points, they are 15-9 ATS, so this conference has historically performed well with similar early-season spreads.
Big 12 teams favored in non-conference September home games of any spread are 147-106-4 ATS, making the conference the country’s most profitable in this specific role over the last 15 seasons.
Boomer Sooner
As for Oklahoma, specifically, the Sooners are 19-11-1 ATS as a home favorite against non-conference teams since ’05, but were 1-2 ATS in this role last season.
They are also 5-2 ATS when favored between 21-25 points as a home favorite in non-conference games and 13-5 ATS in all games within this spread range. More recently, Lincoln Riley teams are 3-1 ATS in this spot.
Riley coached Oklahoma teams teams are also 5-1 ATS as a home favorite between 18-24 points.
Dana, Dana, Dana…
Holgorsen coached teams are 0-7 straight up against Oklahoma, but they are also only 2-4-1 ATS in those games. His teams are also only 3-6 ATS as a double digit underdog and 1-3 ATS as an underdog of 20+ points.
Why Backing Houston is a Good Bet
Houston is a good dog
As a 23-point underdog, this is a somewhat historic spread for the Houston football program. It hasn’t been an underdog of more than 18 points over the last 15 seasons.
Houston is 18-8-1 ATS as a road underdog since 2005, including 9-3-1 ATS since the 2012 season. It’s worth noting, however, that the Cougars did lose twice as a road underdog last season.
AAC squads have some bark
AAC teams are 20-10-1 ATS as a road dog of 20-24 points since 2013 and 14-5-1 ATS when a dog of 21-24 points.
They are, however, only 1-4 ATS as road dogs against Top 5 teams. Houston hasn’t been directly involved in those outcomes.
A Lean on the Over
The over is 3-0 when the total closes between 70-80 points and Oklahoma is favored by 21-24 points.
Meanwhile, the over is 71-49-1 when Big 12 home teams play with a closing total over 70.
Betting Splits
As of 11 a.m. Sunday morning, 57% of spread bets and 58% of the spread money is behind Houston at reporting markets.
Houston-Oklahoma Prediction
I’m a little torn on this game. I like to go away from the money, so that leans me towards Oklahoma. At the same time, I love D’Eriq King to make his share of plays against an improved (but still not very good) Sooners defense. I also have some questions about the Sooners’ ability to seamlessly replace four starting offensive lineman from a year ago, though I don’t believe that will be an issue in this specific game – that’s more of a long-term concern.
While most of the historical conference trends point to a play on Oklahoma,  I’ll go against my initial lean here and grab the 23 points with Houston in what should still be a comfortable win for the home team.
Prediction:
Oklahoma 51, Houston 36

My Brief Encounter With the Sun
Tumblr media
It has been a while since I've posted here, at least relative to the rate I would like to be posting and to the events I would like to be attending. To start, I guess I should come clean and admit I didn't attend GP Portland. By now I've drafted three separate posts about my not attending, but they all sounded self-indulgent. Instead of a dedicated post, here's the bullet points:
- I did not know anyone playing in the main event. When I started this blog, I knew two people locked in to the event, but leading up to the event they all dropped out. This is not the end of the world, but it is nice to have friends around to celebrate and commiserate with.
- My deck choice was up in the air. As I have mentioned before, I own Hardened Scales and Lantern Control. My results leading up to the GP with Scales were middling at best. Lantern on the other hand has a better track record, but underperforms against skilled opponents. Plus both are faced with the daunting amount of sideboard hate present for KCI decks right now.
-Lastly, and most importantly, social anxiety was the big roadblock. This is something I have struggled with for awhile. It is far from crippling, but it is stifling at times. I get in my own head about it. Though the other two points were factors, they probably could have been ignored. My anxiety just let them become excuses.
There were still silver linings. I had a great time at the event site with friends playing EDH, and I bought and sold a lot of cardboard.
Plus, the Friday of the GP, I registered for Oakland. Maybe that little bit of disappointment in myself was the perfect push to get me to register for Oakland.
If you're reading this, it means you probably keep up with Magic pretty frequently and are already aware that I did not top 8 the GP this past weekend. It was the most successful weekend (in fact it was pretty heartbreaking), but I had a great time. Friday night I got into Oakland pretty late so did not have time to go to the convention center. Instead I went to the home of my friend David and his partner Kayla who graciously housed me this weekend. We ate some dinner and stayed up way too late drinking, catching up and playing games of Scales versus Mono-Red Phoenix.
Saturday, we got up and made our way to the hall for what was going to be a long day. Before Round 1, I got my beautiful full-art Bolt promo as well as my not-so-beautiful Tigtone playmat and sat down for my first round. Unfortunately for me, I got paired against a pretty rough matchup to start my tournament: UB Faeries. If you have never read the card Mistbind Clique, I would suggest giving it a look cause it is a very messed up card. We went to game 3, but ultimately, the tempo power of his deck combined with his suite of removal and counters proved to strong for my robots.
Round 2 can be described pretty easily. If you are playing against TitanShift and your opponent fails to ever draw a Primeval Titan or a Scapeshift, then their deck looks pretty atrocious.
The following round was the one that really hurt. Most of it is a blur besides the last turn. My opponent was on Grixis Death's Shadow and sitting at 5 life with a few cards, two shocks, a fetch, and a Gurmag and Death's Shadow. I had three lands (2 Nexus, 1 Citadel), a Hangarback on 4 counters with and activation up, a Mox, and a Ravager on three counters at 15 life. My opponent cantrips main phase, plays a second fetch, and goes to combat swinging with both. I know that if he has a Temur Battle Rage, and I don't block the Death's Shadow, I am dead, so I immediately block the Shadow. He then goes to 1 life by fetching a  shock and fetching a basic and TBR's the Shadow. I activate Hangarback and the Inkmoth and sacrifice all of my permanents besides the Welding Jar and a Thopter to the Ravager. We do the math. I have a 13/13 Ravager to his 12/12 Shadow. He tramples over for 11 and deals 5 with the Gurmag for lethal. There were two mistakes I made here. The first you may have noticed. If I was going to sac the Hangarback, why not block the Gurmag first. This one felt bad. The other was that I simply did the math wrong and thought the attack put me to 14.
This round spawned the quote of the weekend when I texted Dave: "I just punted my round 3 into the fucking sun." Unfortunately for Dave, he also made a round losing misplay this round, so we vented to each other which helped. Having a friend around can really help alleviate the anger/stress/sadness from moments like this.
Round 4 is where my tournament ended. My opponent was on Devoted Evolution. Game 1 I had a Hardened Scales and Ballista and was able to kill all his creatures easily. The other two games he assembled infinite mana and a mana dump with the first four turns. The only really relevant statistic I have is that all of the games where I resolved a Hardened Scales and was able to put a +1/+1 counter on a creature while it was out, I won easily. The deck felt extremely strong in those instances, and it won a couple games without the Enchantment. Overall, I can't be too disappointed given the amount of preparation I put into things and walked away proud of the fact that even though I scrubbed out early, I took my opponents to game 3 every time and had a nice time.
The rest of the weekend was side events which were super fun. I managed to play a couple Battlebond drafts with Dave which were great, but I want to quickly tell you about my ridiculous Ultimate Masters draft.
The draft started with me taking a Demonic Tutor and getting passed an Unholy Hunger followed by a blue card. Pick 4 I saw a Spider Spawning and went all in. By the end of the draft I had an absolutely insane U/B/g self-mill deck that's win cons were pretty much just a Spider Spawning, Rise from the Tides and a Lab Man I picked up pack 3 pick 7. Round 1 I was paired against Dave, of course, and proceeded to slowly crush his U/W Heroic deck and killed him with Lab Man in 2 quick games. Round 2 didn't go as well. I got paired against the only other competent drafter at the table who was on G/W Heroic and made a 4/4 on turn 3 both games while holding up protection for it. After the games, my opponent told me that she thought my deck was the sweetest and probably the only other good deck in the pod which was nice.
There's not much else to say about the event, except it was a ton of fun, and I am already looking forward to the next one (GPLA in March maybe?).
Before I end things, I feel obligated to talk about the bannings announcement scheduled for two weeks from now. I know most of the world will never read this, but I want to stake a claim and call my shot now.
Modern has a problem that needs to be fixed: KCI. In a typical tournament 4 of the top 8 decks being the same archetype isn't the end of the world, but KCI has been showing a dominant performance in the modern metagame for months now. No matter how many copies of Stony Silence and Rest in Peace are running around, the deck still puts up amazing results. Plus the addition of Sai has made it so some games they just attack you to death. None of this even takes into account how the deck can have 10 minute turns and is a nightmare to sit down across at your local FNM.
As I see it there are a few different permutations for possible bans and unbans that may be on the horizon.
The first, and perhaps most vocalized ban, is Ancient Stirrings. This card is probably the best card draw spell in Modern and sees play in KCI, so it seems like the logical card to target with a ban. Unfortunately, I don't think banning it would actually do too much to KCI. If it were banned, I would expect the deck to just abandon green in favor of more blue sources to take advantage of Whir of Invention. Plus, if you ban Ancient Stirrings, then you are also hurting Tron, Amulet, Hardened Scales, and Lantern/4-Color Prison. Some people might say that it is for the good of the format to take the card out of it, but I have to ask, when is it good for a format to hurt 5 different decks with one banning?
The next most likely banning in my eyes is Faithless Looting. Much like Ancient Stirrings, this card is extremely powerful and is the only other card in the running for most powerful draw spell in the format (at least in my eyes). Looting is almost never used as a fair card and has shown how strong it can be in the recent resurgence of Dredge as well as the new Arclight Phoenix decks. The only reason I write about it here is I believe you cannot ban Ancient Stirrings without also banning Looting. If you get rid of Stirrings it will make the Looting decks stronger in the format. Now, if you ban both of them, you would be hurting a huge chunk of the format. Maybe this is what WotC wants. A fairer looking field of decks in modern. Personally, I don't want to play a format where the combo decks are Storm and CoCo with the other decks all being things like GBx, UW Control and Spirits. I cannot imagine a world where they ban just Looting and not Stirrings as well.
This brings me to the card that people have been asking about banning almost as much as Stirrings. Krark-Clan Ironworks. KCI as a deck obviously couldn't exist without the card KCI. The free sacrifice outlet is powerful and maybe is too powerful for Modern. It creates the mana to cast the spells. If WotC banned KCI, I think it would be a fine decision while only impacting one deck in the format.
Still, I don't think banning KCI is the answer. The card has potential and provides a unique effect to the format, that could see other uses. Maybe people start turbo-ing out their Emrakuls or making giant Walking Ballistas with it. I don't know, but the options are there. Scrap Trawler on the other hand doesn't really seem to have the same potential and is the card I would most like to see banned. If KCI makes the mana, Scrap Trawler is the part that makes the loops actually happen. It gets you back the Spheres and Stars to draw the cards. Plus, it is hard for me to imagine this card ever doing anything other than degenerate interactions with egg-like artifacts. Just like with KCI, banning this would have no effect on the format other than hurting KCI, but I think KCI has more potential for fair things and for that reason should be left in the format.
A few other thoughts I have on the current ban list. Though at this point in time it is pretty much a meme, I do believe Stoneforge Mystic would be a safe unban. It is rare that I find myself in a game where Stoneforge Mystic would be too good. Though it is a powerful card and will assuredly see play in fair decks, modern has become a strong enough format over the past few years that I doubt it would be an issue right now.
The other unbanning I could see happening, and actually want to happen more, is Preordain. Green and Red should not have the best one-mana cantrips in modern. Blue is the card draw color and blue deserves the best cantrip. There are a few worries with unbanning Preordain, specifically blue based combo decks like Storm would become oppressive. That may happen, but I believe that has more to do with storm being a bad mechanic than Preordain being too strong for the format. Plus, I think this might be the best solution to avoid having to ban Stirrings and Looting anytime soon. Maybe this would make the format too combo-centric, but this isn't Legacy where we have Ponder and Brainstorm. Fair blue decks would play Preordain and be better off for it.
Also, they should unban Punishing Fire just to see what the fuck happens.
Well, then. See ya soon I guess. Next time I will probably write about an EDH deck.

The Tigers look to polish up at home before a huge road trip!
Auburn’s 4-0, with a chance for another big win ahead of a huge road trip. Take the next two, and all bets are off for how good this season could be. First, however, we need to beat the Bulldogs. Too bad it’s at home and Ryan Sterritt doesn’t get to take his favorite SEC road trip to Starkville.
#7 Auburn (-10.5) vs Mississippi State (O/U 47.5)
SP+ would tell you this will be about a 6-7 point game, but that’s taking into account the State offense before Tommy Stevens went down. While the State offense isn’t inept with new QB Garrett Shrader, they are much more dependent on being able to run down your throats, something nobody has really done on Auburn this season. Derrick Brown and Marlon Davidson have been as good as advertised, and with Tyrone Truesdell breaking out in a big way, this defensive line is monstrous against the run. If Moorhead leans into trying to establish the run with Shrader and SEC leading rusher Kylin Hill, it will be a long day against the Auburn front seven. On the flip side, if the CLANGA offense gets cute and tries to beat Auburn by throwing the ball, they’ll have to focus on winning 50/50 balls to Osirus Mitchell (6’5”, 220 lb). Shrader isn’t ever going to be confused with Kellen Mond in hitting those tight windows on intermediate routes, so I expect the Auburn secondary to win that battle.
So what does the Auburn offense need to do to win this one? I can see both offenses trying to keep the ball on the ground, so there probably won’t be a ton of overall possessions in the game. That means Bo needs to keep playing turnover-free football. The State defensive line is ranked 88th in stuff rate and 89th in sack rate, so hopefully we’ll see another performance from the offensive line similar to last weeks - not perfect by any means, but good enough that I wasn’t complaining about it.
Boobee puts up another hundred yards and a score. Nix hits at least one deep ball. JHS celebrates the best basketball team Auburn has ever produced. It’s a party. 34-14 Tigers.
-Ryan Sterritt
Auburn enters what outsiders might call a “trap game”, wedged firmly between top-10 road matchups. The notion that this would be a “trap game” didn’t really occur to me this week, though a win did feel like a foregone conclusion. Then Gus Malzahn’s Tuesday press conference happened. If there was ever a presser to listen to, it was Tuesday as Gus laid out how hyper-focused our team is, and absolutely should be after getting embarrassed in Starkville last season. And after it was over I was ready to suit up myself to kick State’s ass.
For the 5th straight week, a win or loss will be dictated by Auburn. We’re the better overall team here, with State rebuilding their defensive line and having a bit of a quarterback issue due to injury/quality of play. State’s biggest area of advantage is in the matchup of running backs, as Kylin Hill is the best back in the SEC that no one seems to be talking much about. He’s capable of punishing this defense.
Keys to victory:
Make sure defensive alignments are correct early in this game and trust your linebackers. Alignment was one of the primary reasons we got embarrassed last year in Starkville. Another was having a middle linebacker who didn’t have the lateral movement of his backup. Well now that backup is the starter, and is showing we can actually improve in the middle with a quickness that’s going to be needed in this game.
Win the turnover battle - duh. Wait, no. NO. YOU KNOW WHAT? DON’T EVEN COME CLOSE TO FUMBLING THE BALL AND GIVING THE OFFICIALS THE CHANCE TO MAKE THE WRONG CALL IN A SITUATION LIKE AROUND, SAY, THE GOALLINE. NOT THAT I’M SCREAMING FROM EXPERIENCE OF ANYTHING!
Rush for 150 yards. It sure would be nice if a vast majority of those yards came from our running backs between the tackles so I could feel a little better about the ground game outside of a big Schwartz play. It’s going to have to get better if we’re going to get to November with a chance.
For the first third of the season, it’s been ok that Bo Nix has played like a freshman. For the second third of the season we need Bo to play like a sophomore. Getting timing down with receivers this week needs to show on Saturday. We need to show that this team is getting better through the air. No better time than in the comfort of your own home at night. Find the open man, Bo. And then hit that target.
Tempting as it may be to blitz early and rattle a quarterback, trust your line to hurry throws and get to the quarterback. Let those linebackers play in space and force them off their script quickly.
I’m confident in an Auburn victory. This team embarrassed us a year ago, and we remember it. It’s time for a group of Bulldogs to enter Jordan-Hare Stadium on a Saturday night and be reminded of why losing to them is considered an embarrassment. Auburn 38 Mississippi State 16
-Josh Black
It’s a big weekend for Auburn, the Final Four basketball team is being honored, and Auburn Basketball is hosting the 3rd Ranked Recruit in America. Sorry my excitement for basketball got me carried away, back to football.
Last week was huge for Auburn and while it’s easy to look ahead to Auburn’s first trip to the Swamp in 12 years next Saturday, it’s quite evident there is none of that from the Auburn players and coaching staff. I went to the game in Starkville last year. And the nicest thing I can say about that game was.... It was bad. Really really bad.
Auburn has a little bit of payback to dish out this week and with Mississippi State still figuring out their QB situation, I look for Auburn’s defense to rise to the occasion. Auburn’s offense looked better last week at A&M and look for Bo Nix to hit a deep ball or two as he starts getting more comfortable. It’s the last home game until November and I think Auburn will take care of business and move to 5-0 on the season. Auburn 34 Mississippi State 14.
-Will McLaughlin
Big time win last Saturday. Home crowd under the lights Saturday night. Cowbells coming to town. The talking heads on the tube might say something about a hangover game. They might say something about a quarterback who hasn’t quite put it all together yet. They might say something about a dangerous Mississippi State team. But those talking heads aren’t paying attention to the right things. Auburn got embarrassed in 2018 by a Mississippi State team that wasn’t nearly as good as Auburn made them look. I don’t think that sat well with Gus Malzahn.
The key to the game will be slowing down the State rushing attack. Kylin Hill is one of the SEC’s best running backs. If Auburn can force passing situations early, the defensive line will punish whichever quarterback ends up playing. Derrick Brown is having himself a season so far. I wouldn’t be surprised with another multi-sack, multi-TFL performance from the future first round draft pick.
On the flip side, Auburn must rely on more than just big plays to its star receivers. Whitlow, Shivers, and Co. need to have another successful outing. The more Auburn carries for 8 yards on first down, the more comfortable our freshman quarterback will get running the offense.
Final note: I’m not sure when exactly the basketball team is getting honored, but I’d wager Auburn gets a big play right after it happens. That place is going to be juiced up. Auburn 35, Mississippi State 13.
-Josh Dub
Some might think I’m too confident in thinking Auburn is gonna wax Mississippi State, but I have not even begun to barn. We have a really good football team. We can’t get preoccupied on “can this team beat Georgia and Alabama?” Because we can’t beat them until November anyway. We can only beat the team we play THIS WEEK and for the last for weeks, Auburn has done just that. Auburn has won and covered. Now, Auburn looks at the first potential revenge tour victim. The Tigers can’t play Tennessee this year in order to avenge the most embarrassing loss of 2018, but they do play State. Auburn is going to grind the offensive line of the bulldogs into dust by the middle of the second quarter. This one will not be close at halftime you guys. Tigers 45 Clangs 18.
-Son of Crow
I think Auburn might have a pretty special team this year. This group is far from perfect and MUST get better if they wanna have a shot at some magic in November but so far this season, they have risen to every challenge. Mississippi State last season is the only time I can remember Kevin Steele being out schemed as Auburn’s defensive coordinator. There have been tough losses before & games where the opposing offenses had more success than you like to see but often it’s either because the opponent literally has more talent or they make some absolutely insane plays on 3rd & long. Rushing for 300+ yards using some of the same concepts Gus Malzahn has demolished defenses in the past with a QB incapable of completing a downfield pass was something entirely different.
But that’s honestly why I feel good about this game as the week has gone on. Some talking heads might call this a “trap game” but I don’t think the players see it as so. The defense especially wants redemption.
State had the best defense in the nation last year but gone are the leaders of that group (Jeffery Simmons, Montez Sweat & Jonathan Abrahm) plus State must sit two of their best defensive players (Lee Autry & Willie Gay) for 4 games this season due to a tutor scandal. It’s no guarantee either play this week. The Bulldog defense also has a tackling problem especially in open space. They have gone from a defense that provides some of the most pressure on QBs to one of the least havoc creating defense in the SEC. They do, however, force turnovers & get off the field on 3rd down.
Offensively, I think chances are good Auburn sees both QBs. When Tommy Stevens was healthy he gave the Bulldogs a legitimate passing threat and as a result SP+ ranked this offense #1 after the first 2 weeks. But he’s dealt with a multitude of upper body injuries resulting in the debut of freshman Garrett Shrader. Shrader is more in the Nick Fitzgerald mold where he’s not necessarily an elite passer but is a big bodied runner. He rushed 125 yards on 11 carries last week against Kentucky. Moorehead seemed optimistic that Stevens might be back this week and I doubt he wants Shrader’s first road start to be a night game in Jordan-Hare. Either way, staff must prepare for both. But the leader of this offense is Kylin Hill who leads the SEC in rushing but is also #2 in yards per carry. He’s not just getting yards because he gets lots of touches. He’s picking up chunk plays on those touches. Auburn must continue to tackle well.
For Auburn, if there were ever a time for the offense to really click this is the week. State does not have the same type of interior talent as Oregon or A&M (maybe even Tulane) which should give this OL a chance to open up some running lanes inside. But this weekend is when Bo Nix needs to prove he can hit some deep shots. For Gus’s offense to truly be great it needs that very real threat of PA pass going over your head for 50+ yards at any time. If Nix can start consistently connecting on those, this team becomes a legitimate elite calibre team.
I think heading into half this game is closer than we would like, something in the 17-7 area but an explosive 3rd quarter that includes Nix hitting a deep shot blows this game open and Auburn gets their sweet revenge. Auburn 41 State 10.
-AU Nerd
Everyone seems to think that Alpha Wolf Gus is back and that after his presser, Gus is going full John Woo on State for last year’s embarrassment of a football game. Well, I knew it would be this way after the A&M game, during the Auburn Football Review. Sure, he is only on that show for around 4 and a half minutes but when Andy brought up the State game, the look of disgust on Gus’s face was evident. State has not been tested in 3 of its games and when they were tested, against K State, they folded like a cheap suit. Auburn on the other hand has been tested against 2.75 good ball clubs and 2 of those away from home. The Tigers are now playing at home. Gimme Auburn and will set up the biggest Auburn-Florida matchup since 2006 and the biggest game at Florida in the series since 1994.
Auburn and the OVER. Auburn 42-13.
-Drew Mac
Ever been both confident and worried? Well I’m worried about how confident I am. If you only look at the surface, you see a tough MSU team that has moved the ball well facing an Auburn team with a great defense but an inconsistent offense. That would lean towards a low scoring game where the cover is made late (either a “backdoor” score by MSU to make it look closer or a “frontdoor” score by Auburn to put the game away).
That said, there are so many reasons to be confident. Auburn has played tougher defensive lines and covered. Auburn has played more dynamic offenses and covered. State may be starting a true freshman QB at night in Jordan-Hare. In State’s last trip over, they committed about 12 false start penalties in route to a 49-10 mauling. While I don’t think it will be that bad, I think Auburn controls this game at the line of scrimmage, and begins to pull away in the 3rd quarter. Don’t be surprised if we have to settle for a few FG tries, but I still think there will be enough scoring opportunities to turn this into a cover.
Auburn 37, MSU 17 (Auburn covers, OVER)
-James Jones
The last time that Auburn started 4-0 and lost the fifth game was 1988. I don’t think the Tigers are losing this one, so that streak will go on a little longer. What do we know about this team? They run the ball, but not particularly well against good defenses, and they have trouble stopping the run. When Auburn is able to move the ball on the ground, Bo Nix has been more efficient. It’s pretty simple in my eyes, and I think after a solid (and not dramatic) win over the Aggies on the road, we’re not going to get a letdown at home tomorrow night.
This Auburn team is focused since we got the stuffing knocked out of us last year in Starkville, and now it’s time to return the favor. I don’t quite envision the fast start like Arkansas 2016, but it could be close. I think we hit the ground running, and everyone feels good heading to Gainesville next week. Auburn 41, Mississippi State 14.

The degenerate’s guide to 2017 college football TV watch ‘em ups: week 11
Tumblr media
It’s the moooost wonderful time of the year...
I actually have some shred of hope in my heart for the world. I express that by trotting out Pen & Pixel’s greatest accomplishment (among a plethora of seeming high water marks.) I’ve also got a nervous energy that sports shouldn’t inspire in a person unless they’re directly involved. Maybe I’ve got CTE and this is how it’s manifesting?
Tumblr media
I am to understand that some people don’t even think Miami-Notre Dame is the game of the week but those people are crazy. Two Big XII teams meeting to set up some rematch or other in motion for the Big XII title game in a couple of weeks is no sort of draw to anybody outside of fans of those two teams. We as a nation require pageantry and flair with a nice note of tradition.
Tumblr media
This is bigger in my mind than it needs to be. You all can relax and watch the rest of this lineup, it’s bangers from start to finish really, but I will be impatient and unlikable all day. More unpleasant than usual, probably. But this picture of the late, great Cortez Kennedy celebrating will give me strength:
Tumblr media
You should know the drill on the information below. The times and broadcast networks ripped from FBSchedules. The betting info pilfered from Vegas Insider. The insults to my intelligence and my effort, then, will once again come from you the dedicated readers.

Matchup                                                                   Time (ET)              TV
Arkansas at (24) LSU                                               Noon                   ESPN
That #24 next to LSU seems crazy but I would probably take them over pretty much all of the 104 teams ranked below them. Guice versus Arkansas could be a real problem if Eddie O lets it be one. I wonder what the o/u is on his yards in this game? 79 against Alabama has to translate to about 400 against Arkansas.
Duke at Army                                                            Noon                  CBSSN
It is a cruel thing to ask somebody on the Navy side of the divide to root for Army football but we must all stand as one to defeat the Blue Evils.
Florida at South Carolina                                        Noon                   CBS
It is not at all surprising that one of these teams is playing for an interim head coach but I would have never guessed in July that it would be Florida. On the one hand Sakerlina -6 against anybody seems high but UF just got blown out by Missouri.
Indiana at Illinois                                                      Noon                   BTN
It seems sort of unfair that other coaches get fired and Lovie Smith doesn’t.
(12) Michigan State at (13) Ohio State                   Noon                  FOX
I know it seems stupid to make a team that just got beat the fuck down by Iowa last week a 17-point favorite this week but I also kind of feel like that’s being generous to Michigan State. I’ll be cheering Sparty on but I’ve got a bad feeling about this for the green and white.
(23) NC State at Boston College                             Noon   ABC/ESPN2 (RM)
Steve Addazio has made a lot of money in his life to be an offensive guru of sorts and it seems like he only figured out how to coach offense on October 14th of this year. I still don’t know what to make of this renaissance but here’s a game featuring two of the top EDGE prospects for 2018. I got no more.
Nebraska at Minnesota                                            Noon                  FS1
If it’s on the schedule I guess you should probably go ahead and play it.
(15) Oklahoma State at (21) Iowa State                   Noon  ABC/ESPN2 (RM)
I’ve been waiting for Iowa State to turn back into a pumpkin but I also kind of hate Oklahoma State. I don’t hate Iowa State I just don’t trust them to keep winning. O/U of 61 seems sort of low to me.
Rutgers at (14) Penn State                                       Noon                BTN
Oh, great, Saquon Barkley gets to boost his profile again. If he gets enough carries he could reasonably move back into the top 20 rushers in the country but, let’s be honest here, his Heisman candidacy is based on him making one single flash play per game so it doesn’t even really matter if he rushes 20 times for 89 yards and a touchdown if the touchdown is a 77-yard draw play with a couple of jukes.
Texas Tech vs. Baylor (in Arlington)                          Noon                FSN
I was legitimately sad to see Baylor win 38-3 last week and not because I have any fond feelings for Kansas. If anything I kind of like the running joke of Kansas football over the past few years. But seeing Baylor do well is sickening.
UConn at (18) UCF                                                     Noon              ESPNU
I keep expecting UCF to fuck up one of these weeks. I don’t think UConn is the team to make it happen but I also don’t know about trusting UCF’s talent level.
UL Lafayette at University of Mississippi               Noon               SECN
ULL is a 20-point underdog and they’re terrible but I don’t know if they’re 20-point underdog to Mississippi terrible.
(17) Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech                           Noon              ACCN
I’m sort of pissed off at Georgia Tech for losing last week. At least for throwing 22 passes and losing. WTF is Georgia Tech doing throwing 22 passes against a team that’s not historically atrocious against the pass?
Middle Tennessee at Charlotte                               2:00 pm          ESPN3
I don’t know what’s up with my guy Richie James. I keep waiting for him to break back out and he keeps not doing it. Charlotte is a pretty good place to do it, I guess?
Wake Forest at Syracuse                                           3:00 pm           RSN
There’s a lot of effort to go around between these two terrible teams. I don’t enjoy the way either one of them plays but I respect how much they both seem to enjoy playing even though they suck.
Florida Atlantic at LA Tech                                         3:30 pm        Stadium
Point Shavin’ Kiffykins is open for business! Louisiana Tech has not been good or consistent this year so I’ve got a good feeling about FAU beating them by a touchdown or more but I also feel like Kiffin is making extra money by betting on his team. No way to know which way he bet this week.
Florida State at (4) Clemson                                      3:30 pm          ESPN
The oddity that is Florida State’s season would be made perfect by springing a huge upset here. Vegas expects something to the effect of Clemson 32-FSU 15 but I have this weird idea that Florida State can hang with them. I get that the Seminoles offense is bad but I’m not 100% that Clemson’s is very much better. The O/U is only 46 so there’s not a lot of wiggle room there. Even so I’d guess take the under and the Seminoles and wait for Cam Akers to make something out of nothing.
(1) Georgia at (10) Auburn                                          3:30 pm           CBS
Here’s the other upset waiting to happen. Actually, let me amend that. I don’t think FSU can actually win just keep things close. I think Auburn can actually win. Georgia has a fantastic defense and one of the most elemental offenses in the country. They have a near limitless supply of great running backs but everything else is sort of suspect. Auburn is on a similar talent level but with a more varied offensive scheme and they’re playing at home. So look for Kerryon to key an ultimately meaningless (from AU’s perspective) surprise victory for the Barners.
(20) Iowa at (8) Wisconsin                                           3:30 pm           ABC
Iowa is the toast of the college football world this week after their bizarre 55-24 win against Ohio State last week. Can they do it again? No. I’m with Vegas in thinking Wisconsin rolls.
Michigan at Maryland                                                  3:30 pm           BTN
If Michigan starts losing shit games like this then you can worry about Jim Harbaugh but I stand by my assessment that he’s going to have the Wolverines on the same level as Ohio State by 2019.
SMU at Navy                                                                  3:30 pm         CBSSN
SMU still has a shot at taking the AAC West if Memphis falters but Navy is just playing spoiler at this point. I don’t know how much that affects Navy’s execution but if SMU plays tight in this one they’ll get run over.
Southern Miss at Rice                                                 3:30 pm        Stadium
This is a weirdly appealing uniform matchup for me. I downloaded the Stadium app but I think you need a facebook account to use it so it’s just sitting there on my phone looking like Postmates, which I also don’t use.
Virginia at Louisville                                                     3:30 pm         ESPNU
Louisville is a double digit favorite against a team with a better record and more to play for and, truth be told, more high end talent on the roster. There is something that bookmakers like about this matchup that I do not understand.
West Virginia at Kansas State                                      3:30 pm         ESPN2
This game is basically a pick ‘em and if K State wins these teams will be have identical records. It’s not the worst Big XII matchup ever but KSU has been pretty dull for watchin’ ‘em up purposes this year.
Georgia State at Texas State                                      4:00 pm  CW35/ESPN3
The audience for this game on TV has to be 400 people total. Texas State is a garbage heap right now so this GSU (the good one!) should stay alive in the Sun Belt race. That 6.5-point line seems low to me even though it’s gone up 2 points over the course of the week.
Kentucky at Vanderbilt                                                  4:00 pm        SECN
In a weird twist this isn’t even close to the worst matchup in the SEC this year. It’s on the better-than-average side of things at that.
Maine vs. UMass (Fenway Park)                              4:00 pm  11 Sports/NESN
The battle for the soul of New England college footbaal! UMass has that one TE that’s really good so I guess they’ll win. I don’t really hate the football games in baseball stadiums thing because at least it’s visually different than other games but I don’t really get why they do these things.
San Jose State at Nevada                                             4:00 pm       ESPN3
If you watch this because you bet on it then you, my friend, are exactly who these posts are made for.
(11) USC at Colorado                                                      4:00 pm        FOX
The trick to beating USC is to hold onto at least 3 of the average 6 interceptable passes that Sam Darnold throws in an average game. Colorado could honestly do that and still lose because their offense stinks but 3 or more interceptions is definitely on the table for the Buffs.
Troy at Coastal Carolina                                                 4:30 pm       ESPN3
As a premier online tout you will have to subscribe to my insider tips to get my full thoughts on this game but let’s just say that a 17-point road favorite seems undervalued if anything.
Arkansas State at South Alabama                                 5:00 pm       ESPN3
Again with the online super touting: I didn’t even look at the line and I’m taking USA to beat the spread.
UTEP at North Texas                                                       5:00 pm        ESPN3
UNT is bowl eligible already now they’re playing for the CUSA crown. FAU and FIU are the main contenders in the East but the 096ers are in the driver’s seat the West crown.
(19) Washington State at Utah                                       5:30 pm     Pac-12N
Washington State got a bad draw in closing the season here and @ UDub for their final two games but they should be able to handle Utah right now. The annual Utah sprint to the finish is not happening this year.
Kansas at Texas                                                              6:00 pm     LHN/JTV
Last year KU got Charlie Strong fired and this year they can, maybe, get their own coach fired if they’re lucky.
WKU at Marshall                                                           6:30 pm beIN SPORTS
Honestly CUSA is serving up some decent action this week if you find yourself feeling sort of off Broadway.
(2) Alabama at (16) Mississippi State                            7:00 pm      ESPN
Alabama seems like the worst team to gamble on for my dollars. There’s no doubt in my mind they’ll beat the stuffing out of Miss State but they might lame things up on the way to a 21-9 kind of game.
New Mexico at Texas A&M                                             7:00 pm     ESPNU
New Mexico is really bad but I’m not offering any gambling advice for this one.
Old Dominion at FIU                                                        7:00 pm   CUSA.TV
Here’s a line I have strong feelings for. FIU should beat ODU by at least 30 but for whatever reason the spread is under 10 points. Do oddsmakers not see FIU’s record so far in 2017.
Purdue at (25) Northwestern                                         7:00 pm     ESPN2
I don’t like this Northwestern being ranked schtick. Boiler Up!
Tulane at East Carolina                                                   7:00 pm    CBSSN
The 7 o’clock kicks are not particularly great and this is one of them.
UAB at UTSA                                                                      7:00 pm   KCWX-TV
If you pronounce this game aas WAB at Utsaaa it becomes more fun but you also have to have a local channel to watch.
Tennessee at Missouri                                                    7:30 pm      SECN
Everybody knows generally about the reasons to hate Penn State and Baylor football but I think it’s unfair to Tennessee that they aren’t more widely known as a poisonous house of horrible antics and criminal bullshit.
(3) Notre Dame at (7) Miami, FL                                       8:00 pm      ABC
I’m trying to get an honest gauge free of emotions on this game and have been for about a week. I think the perception of Miami around the country is a scrappy team getting it done with smoke and mirrors but I think it’s more accurate to say that QB is often their least valuable player on the field and that they are outrageously stacked in their receiving corps and along the defensive line. Notre Dame should be able to run on Miami in spite of the front four because the second level has been messy for the Hurricanes. Front four and back four are fine but the three guys in the middle sometimes look like herding cats. Notre Dame’s offensive line is great and their running game has been crazy but they’re pass offense is suspect and they do give up explosive plays on defense. Miami makes a lot of big plays on offense. This is a lot closer than a lot of people realize and I won’t exactly be surprised if Miami bum rushes the Irish in the early going.
(6) TCU at (5) Oklahoma                                                    8:00 pm      FOX
Does it undercut the moment for this game that there’s a really strong chance that these same two teams play each other in the inaugural Big XII Title Game? I’m always rooting for the worst outcome for this shit conference and I think that’s a TCU win.
Arizona State at UCLA                                                       9:30 pm    Pac-12N
Josh Rosen has apparently passed the concussion protocol so this might end up being a down-to-the-wire game slightly favoring UCLA but this game is really all about the weirdly bad ways that both head coaches are sabotaging the talent on their respective rosters.
Oregon State at Arizona                                                   10:15 pm    ESPN2
If you like Khalil Tate and want to see some highlights have I got the game for you! If Tate doesn’t break off at least 200-yards of rushing he will be one
Wyoming at Air Force                                                        10:15 pm    ESPNU
The Josh Allen Experience continues on down the road. This is the kind of game where, historically, he’s been very bad but he’s playing for his football life to get better now as opposed to after next season.
Boise State at Colorado State                                          10:30 pm   CBSSN
CSU’s chances at winning the MWC are more or less dead but they should be at their peak level going against Boise this week.
Fresno State at Hawaii                    11:00 pm  KSEE-24/Spectrum PPV/MWN
That’s the longest string of channel listings in Watch ‘Em Ups history. And not a single one of those networks reaches a single home in America. As it should be for a game between these two programs.

Joe Maiorana-USA TODAY Sports
What do we really know about non-Auburn football?
We’re already a third of the way through the regular season, and soon it’ll be slipping into November (and the weather will still be hot). Which among us will also be hot? Who knows!
***IF YOU’D LIKE TO ADD YOUR OWN PICKS, COMMENT BELOW WITH YOUR SCORE PREDICTIONS FOR EACH GAME AND RYAN STERRITT WILL TRACK THEM***
Notre Dame (-13) vs Virginia (O/U 48)
Notre Dame is going to take out some frustration on a good(?) Virginia team, but I’m not sure that necessarily means an offensive explosion. Virginia’s offense is baddddd though, so this may be more of a “smother you with a pillow” style win for the Irish. 27-7 Domers. - Ryan Sterritt
Virginia never deserves success in anything ever again, including against Notre Dame, who I think may have won a moral victory last weekend by possibly exposing a coach in Athens who might just have an issue or two with executing at a high level in big games. Notre Dame 27 Virginia 21 - Josh Black
Well Notre Dame, you ALMOST made me look like a genius last week. The Irish come home and face an undefeated Virginia team. The Cavaliers have narrow wins over the likes of Florida State and Old Dominion as they head to South Bend. I think the Irish will bounce back at home Saturday. Notre Dame 28 Virginia 20 - Will McLaughlin
Notre Dame now has something to prove to the world. I don’t think they’ll take the foot off the gas in this one, or any of their remaining games. They need to put themselves back in the conversation. Notre Dame 38, Virginia 14 - Josh Dub
If Notre Dame wins, maybe jack won’t make us pick any more of their stupid games im not going to watch. Our Lady of Embarrassing Irish Losses, pray for us. Hoos 21 Irish 20. - Son of Crow
Notre Dame played MUCH better than I was expecting and I think are a legitimate top 10 team. But how funny would it be if after that big time matchup where UGA had to begrudgingly admit that maybe ND wasn’t such a pushover if they then got beat by UVA? But UVA doesn’t deserve nice things due to their phony bball title. The Fighting Irish bounce back big. ND 35 UVA 17 - AU Nerd
The Golden Domers showed me something last week. They kept it close against Georgia...that is pretty much it. What I got on offense, I expected, but the defense really impressed me. Either that or Georgia had and off night. The Hoos on the other hand have beaten FSU...so they beat a JV squad. I am pretty sure ND will win but that’s a large cover against a good? team on the road. Virginia and the points and the under. ND 23-14 - Drew Mac
Notre Dame had a solid gameplan against Georgia’s offense, but they couldn’t get anything consistent on offense except for going to their TE. I think UVa got caught eating a LetDown Lookahead sandwich last week against Old Dominion. ND does enough to win at home, but I think UVA keeps it close. Irish 24, School for which Ty Jerome double dribbled 17 (ND wins, UVA covers, UNDER) - James Jones
I know there’s nothing connecting the two, but I really hope that Kyle Guy and his long gums/tiny teeth get to enjoy an epic whipping at the hands of Notre Dame. He apparently writes for the UVA SB Nation site, so write about this one, and tell your double dribble buddy Ty Jerome all about it. Irish 35, Cavaliers 10 - Jack Condon
Washington (-9.5) vs USC (O/U 59)
Washington is a lot better team than they’re going to get credit for after that dumb Cal loss, and despite beating Utah last week, I can’t get on board with the third string quarterback leading the Trojans to another win over a ranked team on the road. It’ll be up to the USC ground game to take advantage of a weaker-than-usual Washington defensive line, but I’m going to take the Huskies here. 30-20 UW. - Ryan Sterritt
Jacob Eason wanted a more refined version of a dog. One who wasn’t bred down to sitting on top of ice as “work”. No he realized he needed to associate himself with a breed that was tough, graceful, and reliable. Shoutout to Jacob Eason, for without him, Georgia may never have gotten their hopes up only to be ripped out against Tennessee in 2016. Without him transferring, maybe Justin Fields doesn’t come to Georgia. Without Justin Fields coming to Georgia, maybe Kirby decides to recruit another star quarterback before and during the 2018 season. And because of neglecting to do so, because you know, Justin Fields is a generational talent, Georgia now has no backup quarterback if Jake Fromm were to catch a horrible case of diarrhea. Also Washington is much better than USC and should win this game. Washington 38 USC 28 - Josh Black
Both of these teams played in Provo against BYU the last 2 weekends. The Huskies rolled while the Trojans lost in Overtime. I think Washington would be undefeated if it weren’t the bizarreness of Pac-12 WAYYYYY After Dark against Cal. I like the Huskies in this one. Washington 31 USC 23 - Will McLaughlin
The PAC-12 is a mystery. Chris Peterson is reliable, though. Well, more reliable than anyone else over there. Washington 42, USC 21 - Josh Dub
Guys I think USC might have it figured out, or at least well enough for the lousy pac 12. That said, Washington is looking better than the Trojans by a wide margin and the dream of Dwag transfers making the playoffs without the Dwags hinges on this game. Washington 35 SC 24 - Son of Crow
It would be a very on brand thing for the PAC-12 if USC were to win this game. They’ve performed better than anyone thought especially given injuries at QB position. But the Huskies first loss came under some wild circumstances so unless the Trojans can get some weather delays I think Eason and company get it done. Huskies 31 Trojans 23 - AU Nerd
Now this is an interesting matchup, and sadly it won’t be on Pac-12 After Dark. Both teams are 3-1 and coming off of nice road wins last week. USC is much better than people want to give them credit for while Washington always seems to have one or two ‘huh’ losses in them. They already got one out of the way a few weeks back to Cal and they play Stanford next week on Pac-12 After Dark. There’s your other loss so they win this one but won’t cover. USC and the points, take the under. Washington 27-21 - Drew Mac
Graham Harrell deserves a lot of credit for keeping the offensive game plan the same with Fink after Slovis went down. What I don’t like is a QB that made some really poor decisions in the second half making his first road start. Washington will be ready for this one. I think you almost have to throw the Cal game completely out for betting purposes. There were so many obstacles in that game that I’m not taking it into account. I think Eason is coming into his own. I may have to create a vested interest in this one. Washington 38, USC 17 (UW covers, UNDER) - James Jones
It’s fun when national powers turn back into pedestrian clubs. People would have killed to see USC end up as a struggling mid-level program a decade ago, and most never thought the Trojans would fall to that point. People now think that Bama won’t ever drop to mediocrity again. It’ll happen. USC, however, is on the way back up, and I don’t have anything to base this on except that I don’t really think Washington is all that tough. Trojans 33, Washington 30 - Jack Condon
Nebraska vs Ohio State (-17.5) (O/U 66.5)
Let’s see... Nebraska struggled with USA, lost to Colorado, and barely beat Illinois despite nearly doubling them up in yards. Meanwhile, Ohio State has been murdering bad teams by an average of 54-9. Nebraska will be the best team the Buckeyes will have faced, and it *might* be the first time the starters play the fourth quarter. Buckeyes 48-20. - Ryan Sterritt
Justin Fields just wanted to be at a program that’s won a national title in the past 38 years. Shoutout to Justin Fields. No shame in wanting to be involved with a winner who knows how to finish. You know what’s impressed me most about Ohio State? They’ve managed to find ways to use Justin Fields to their advantage beyond fake punts. I mean, that’s really hard to do. Finding a role for a guy who was considered neck and neck with Trevor Lawrence for the best HS QB in a decade by doing more than running out with the punt team is really a testament to the creativity of the Ohio State coaching staff. Ohio State 48 Nebraska 17 - Josh Black
All you need to know about how bleh this weekend of games is that College Gameday picked THIS game to go to this week. Buckeyes roll. Ohio State 48 Nebraska 14 - Will McLaughlin
Ohio State cruises towards a big October 26 matchup against Wisconsin. (related – the gameday slate of Ohio State/Wisconsin at 11 AM followed by Auburn/LSU at 2:30 may have some serious playoff implications). Ohio State 52, Nebraska 17 - Josh Dub
I don’t think Ohio state feels a speed bump during this game. The Buckeye offense is dynamic and Justin Fields is a generational talent who was called racial slurs by Georgia fans. While he was on their team. Because Georgia. During this game look for there to be more shots of Scott Frost looking completely lost than shots of Nebraska celebrating first downs. Bucks 48 N 20 - Son of Crow
You know who I think is the scariest team in the country right now? It’s not Dabo’s Tigers, it’s not Ed O’s Tigers, it’s not Saban’s high flying offense, it’s not UGA’s boring ass team & it’s not Hurts’ led Oklahoma. It’s the Buckeyes of Ohio State. Justin Fields was a legitimate challenger for the top spot in the same class as Trevor Lawrence. The fact he decided to go to UGA is still one of the more bizarre decisions I’ve seen but now he’s at a program that will make full use of his skillset. This team also has a ferocious defense lead by arguably the best pass rusher in the country. They are flying under the radar right now due to an unimpressive schedule and the jaw dropping offensive numbers Bama, LSU & OK are putting up right now. But for my pretend expert opinion, Buckeyes are the team to be feared the most right now. There may be some hiccups early but OSU rolls. OSU 45 NEB 20 - AU Nerd
One of my favorite, personal things is to watch Nebraska and wonder when the realization that the Scott Frost system isn’t going to work at Nebraska and then the second realization that they are just an average program in today’s college football will truly set in. It obviously hasn’t yet but I think Ohio State will do all they can to bash them over the head with it this week as they welcome the Huskers to the Shoe. Ohio State and the over. OSU 52-17 - Drew Mac
Ohio State has been in the old “Bama minus anything” zone so far this year. Which of course means that I’m finally looking at making an investment in them, and therefore they’ll struggle with the Huskers. Nebraska rolled up a ton of yards on Illinois last week, but they made too many mistakes. I’m wary of the yearly “Ohio State craps its pants on the road on national TV” game, but I don’t think it’s this week. Ohio State 45, Nebraska 21 (OSU covers, UNDER by the hook) - James Jones

Ever since Scott Frost shot that kid in Breaking Bad, he’s had it coming. Justin Fields is about to Jesse Pinkman this dude and roll up about 400 yards and 5 touchdowns. Buckeyes 40, Huskers 17 - Jack Condon
South Carolina (-2.5) vs Kentucky (O/U 50.5)
Do we have an Anxiety Bowl here? If the Gamecocks drop this one, they’ll fall to 1-4, and will be lucky to get to 3-9 after that. Muschamp is gone in that scenario. Meanwhile, if the underdog Wildcats lose, Mark Stoops will have lost all good will from last season as Kentucky will be sitting at 2-3. Luckily, Kentucky still has likely wins over Arkansas, Tennessee, Vandy, UT Martin, and Louisville on the schedule, but losing to South Carolina would not be a good sign that Kentucky could handle those other games without faltering either. I don’t know, I guess I’m picking Kentucky? No way they hit that over. 23-15 blue team. - Ryan Sterritt
Neither one of these programs have much in the way of success in football historically. Take South Carolina for example. The last major thing South Carolina did was produce a Heisman Trophy winner in 1980. NINETEEN EIGHTY! That was THIRTY-NINE years ago. Most of you reading this probably weren’t even alive back in those days! How could any program that had their last major national success happen during the waning days of the Carter administration ever take themselves seriously? Can’t relate, but man that must be tough. 1980. 39 years ago. And maybe, just maybe, the best a program residing in the SEC East may have just peaked in 1980. You hate to see it. Kentucky 21 South Carolina 20 - Josh Black
I’m not really sure what to think of this game. It looks like Sawyer Smith will play for Kentucky and the Gamecocks have GOT to win this game or things could get really ugly. I don’t trust picking South Carolina since they screwed me in the Survivor Pool Week 1 so give the Wildcats! Kentucky 24 South Carolina 21 - Will McLaughlin
Talk about two schools needing a win. Both of these programs are desperate for some kind of success right about now. South Carolina and Will Muschamp are sitting at 1-3 and folks, the future does not look bright. They need a win or two to help justify a crazy buyout situation for Muschamp. I’m looking at their schedule…welp, Will Muschamp is going to get retained after going 2-10 because they don’t want to fork out $22 Million. Meanwhile, Kentucky nearly beats Florida then gets destroyed by Mississippi State? I think Kentucky is the only one of these programs that can put together a winning gameplan. Kentucky 28, South Carolina 17 - Josh Dub
I need Kentucky to win and I’ll tell you why: we need SCAR to look so bad that no one could possibly think they could upset one of the better teams left on their schedule. That’s when muschamp strikes and keeps his crummy job. This game is going to stink. Kentucky 21 Scar 13 - Son of Crow
The desperation bowl. Both of these programs needs this win in the worst way. Both are dealing with injuries at the QB position. I honestly thought the Kats would put up a bigger fight on the road against State. SCAR was pretty sad themselves in Columbia, MO. Winner of this game might be able to get off the mat and have an ok season with the terribleness of the East. Loser is fighting for bowl eligibility. Think it’s an ugly one but with it being at home the Cocks’ freshman QB does enough. Muschamp 23 UK 16 - AU Nerd
Woof. I went out on a limb for you last week Kentucky and you give me nothing! Frustrating. Oh well. Now the TurfCats return home to take on a reeling Carolina team in the battle of the second string QBs. No true breakdown here as this will not be a pretty ballgame but since the Cats are at home, as I guess they will be the least loser. Kentucky on the ML and the under. Cats 24-20 - Drew Mac
Gross. If Kentucky was at home, they’d be a no-brainer. To be honest, having the line here means Vegas thinks it’s a toss-up on a neutral field. I don’t know that I agree with that. I think Helinski plays well enough to keep SC in it, but I’m going to lean towards UK getting it done. Holding my nose either way. Gambling wise this is a total stay-away. Kentucky 24, South Carolina 21 (Kentucky wins outright, UNDER) - James Jones

Muschamp’s gonna have plenty of time to open up the budding singing career when he ends up getting canned after this season. Boom will be Summertime Lover when he gets to chill on his boat for a season. Then he’ll return to Auburn for round three running the defense once Kevin Steele finally retires.
