You weren’t sure about this. You knew it would look kind of crazy but he wanted to see you again too, right? There you were, standing at Isaac’s front door. It’s not too crazy, right? You used to live here. Of course, you’d know the address. 

Nonetheless, you knocked on the door. You wanted to see him again. That day both of you caught up was… it was a lot but you didn’t have time to stay and were already emotional. It was a whole mess. 

“Hello? — Oh! Pickle?”

“Ah, I’m sorry. I know this is unexpected and I know you get anxious answering the door but I thought I’d see you again because I missed you and I hope you missed me…”

His shock was evident through the stare he gave you. He planned to see you again first, but here you were.

“Oh my,” You started to panic from his silence, “I’m sorry, I should’ve known better. I should’ve reached out before this–”

“It’s okay, Pickle. Come in.”

You walked through the door, hearing it close behind you. It felt weird to be back in this house. Though, it felt like home. 

“So,” He guided you to the couch as if you didn’t know where it was, “What brings you here?”

“You.”

“Like wanting to be with you…”

What the fuck are you saying?

“Like … okay it sounds a bit crazy–”

It does, yes.

“Don’t worry. I missed you too, Pickle. The house has been empty without your… clumsiness and prying.” He teased. 

If you didn’t feel embarrassed before, you do now. Not that that was Isaac’s intention. Never. You should’ve known that coming to his house and stumbling over your words would result in him winding you up. 

“So… that’s it. I’ll take my leave now–”

“You can stay.”

Isaac’s eager tone stopped you from getting up. As much as you wanted to get out of there and leave because of how awkward this felt, you couldn’t. Not when he sounded like that. 

You knew that he knew what he was doing. Like you had your little tricks, so did he. Using just the tone of his voice to make you stay—the sound of slight fear in his voice paired with excitement. He knew it would work on you, as it has before. And anyway, you couldn’t complain when you’d pull the exact stunts on him before.

“You can stay with me. Don’t you want to? That’s why you came here, right, Pickle?”

“Ugh,” You pouted, “You know me too well. Is that okay though? Me staying?”

“It would be a pleasure. Want me to make you some tea?” Isaac stood up and smiled. 

He was clearly excited about you staying (and his stupid mind game working on you).

“Well since you seem so eager, yes. Just because I don’t want to bring your mood down..”

He laughed from the kitchen,

“I missed you, Pickle! Don’t act like you don’t know that.”

“I missed you too.” 

But that one was kept to yourself. You knew he couldn’t hear that, you just wished the message got to him either way.

YOU CAN FEEL yourself getting socially drained as you text her, at least that’s what you tell yourself. Paige is infuriating and arrogant, which comes with the deadly additions of charisma and the ability to keep you on edge with every word spoken, or even typed.

You’d always known of this, even before your game with her that day. A player like Paige can be hard to come across; perfectly capable, talented and independent yet somehow the best team player out there, sharing passes she can without a doubt make. Why? Because she doesn’t need to prove anything.

It often bothered you, especially since you constantly needed to prove yourself during the start of your college career. You took every shot you could get your hands on, and she gave shots away like candy whilst still having a huge reputation as a player. Obviously it went deeper than that, but the simple fact just stuck to your brain.

You can’t help but recall her face, inches from yours attempting to pry your ball from your grasp. Like she was deserving, like it was hers for the taking. She had made a similar face on the panel where she dissed you soon afterwards, and then again while watching you at the bar, and just before writing her number on the napkin. You wondered if she was making that face right now as she texts you.

The text is simple but it summons some sort of unique feeling in you. Paige Bueckers is offering to pick you up in her car, on her night off, and take you to a restaurant. And you, for whatever reason, are considering saying yes.

Sighing to yourself, you weigh your options. Option one: you sit around your hotel alone till your teammates come back, most probably drunk from a bar since it’s a Saturday. Option two: you ask Elaine to take you out once again, even though you’re probably gonna see her the whole week you’re here. Option three: you let the girl who shit-talked you at a post game conference take you out for dinner.

After hurriedly pulling yourself together, taking an Advil, checking out the restaurant’s Instagram and getting ready you can’t help but find your heart steadily hammering inside of you. Paige is coming to your hotel. You’re gonna be in her car. She’s taking you to her favourite restaurant. This has to be the most peculiar thing that has happened all year.

The car ride is significantly better then you expected it would be. Paige adamantly seems to prevent any room for awkward silence to seep through, commenting on your outfit and filling the vehicle with music that makes the interior buzz from the volume. She has a free look on her face, chair reclined more then you’d dare if you were in the drivers seat, hair blowing in her face from the windows being down.

“I’m surprised you’re driving me out.” You say, finally airing what was on your mind.

Paige shrugs. “Didn’t feel like drinking today. Plus, I’m in the mood to be generous and show you what Storrs has.”

“If someone told me I’d be hanging out with Paige Bueckers like a week ago, I think I’d be fucking appalled. Or disgusted. Or both.” You laugh.

She chuckles, glancing at you sneakily. “You swear a lot, don’t you?”

“Awe my bad.” You pout, giving her a fake-concerned look. “Forgot you can’t handle a little language.”

“I can handle it,” she grumbles. “I just think cursing is better for specific situations.”

“Like what?”

Paige wets her lips almost sheepishly, but she keeps her eyes straight on the road. “Like sex.”

A beat passes before you respond “Sorry I couldn’t savour a couple words for you and your little kink.”

She looks over at you now, and you meet her gaze as equally as you can. She just lets out a smile, shaking her head to herself as she pulls into the parking lot. You try to ignore the elevator-sinking feeling in your stomach from her words as you get out from the car.

The restaurant is beautiful. It’s cozy, ambient and well decorated. Not too fancy and not too full, just perfect. You’re seated in a more secluded area, per Paige’s request. She orders for you, insisting she knows exactly what to get for the best possible experience.

The food is good, and you don’t feel the need to hide it from Paige, who visibly grows at your praise for the place she picked out.

“So, are you jus in Connecticut for Elaine?” She says.

“Not really.” You reply. “Me and some of the others are just doing a little East Coast road-trip. I wasn’t really interested in coming to Storrs, but it made sense to come by and see her.”

“For a whole week?” She raises her eyebrow. “Seems like you’re close.”

“I was only gonna stay in Storrs for a couple days, then go to Hartford but the girls seem to like it here.” You shrug. “They think it’s cute, being a small town and all, but it’s pretty boring if you’re not a student.”

“It’s better if you’re with fun people.” She smiles.

“I hope you don’t think you’re fun.”

“Compared to Elaine I definitely am.” Paige scoffs.

You can’t help but feel a little more hostility than humour in her tone.

“Do you guys know each other?” You ask, as sly and innocent as you can muster. Paige seems hesitant.

“Nah.” She finally decides. “I mean, we’ve talked before. Ion know her personally.”

“It’s kinda funny, she said she doesn’t pay much attention to you but I think she might have a little crush.” You laugh.

Paige visibly stiffens at this, which catches you by surprise.

In a split second she regains her calm, unbothered composure. “What has she said?”

“Not much.” You shrug. “Just seems a little interested.”

Paige’s jaw clenches for a moment, and you’re not surprised when she changes the subject. “How many people have been on your case since I posted that picture of us from the bar on my story?”

“God, so many.” You laugh, shaking your head. “You?”

“You don’t even wanna know.” She scoffs. “Not sure why everyone was so crazy bout it though, s’not like we were beefing for real.”

“Right!” You say, happy she seems to be on the same page. “It was just some petty crap. I guess people just really were hoping there would be some rivalry.”

You think for a moment, before saying. “Maybe we should keep this drama thing up. Might be fun.”

“It’s a lil too late for that,” Paige shakes her head with a slight smile. “remember how KK and Ice were on live yesterday at the coffee shop? Yeah, we kinda were in the background at some point. People saw us talking.”

“You’re joking.”

“Dead serious. There are edits and everything.”

You rest your head in your hands, elbows on the table, lessening the proximity between you and her. “I only get into these weird ass situations when I interact with you, Paige.”

She sits up in her seat, blue eyes quickly looking you up and down. “Yet you’re still here.”

“Girl’s gotta have fun.” You shrug. Her foot hits yours under the table, her eyebrow raised as if challenging you. You have a sudden thought of going under the table and letting your hands unzip her cargo pants, but instead you just kick her back.

“Wanna go?” She asks. You don’t want to go back to the hotel, and she seems to pick up on it. “The area we’re in is nice. We can walk around a bit.”

You smile and nod. “Split the bill?”

“Fuck no.” She shoots you a look, pulling out her credit card from the back of her phone.

“You cursed!” You exclaim, to which she scoffs.

“I said it’s alright in specific situations.”

Now it’s your turn to scoff. “Well we’re not having sex, are we?”

The way her eyelashes flutter at your question gives you jitters. “Aight, stop talking.” She finally manages to respond. You just send her a look that you hope makes her nervous.

“You’re not funny.” She grumbles, attempting to grab your phone from you.

“Back off, Bueckers! I’m serious.” You laugh, sidestepping her with your phone above your head. The street was empty and the lights were on, putting the two of you in a yellow glow against the night. You’d been walking around the neighbourhood, observing houses and learning a bit about Storrs for the past hour.

“Give me your phone, I know you ain’t deleting those.” She huffs, grabbing for your phone. You try to escape her grasp but she’s got longer limbs, so eventually your phone is in her pocket and she’s wearing a proud look on her face.

It’s nice to walk in the quiet of evening, her beside you. You have no idea where you are but you can’t help but trust she can get you back to the car in no time. Not just yet though.

You turn to look at Paige almost shamelessly. There’s just so much to observe with her. Her confident posture, toothy smile, sleek straightened blonde hair, even the baggy cargo pants and sweater. She always looked good, it never failed to annoy you.

“Either your pants are too tight or crazy baggy.” You note. She just raises her eyebrow.

“Sounds like you just want me to take my pants off at this point.”

“Wouldn’t mind a little show.” You reply almost instantly, shocking yourself at the surge of confidence. She doesn’t seem taken aback, in fact she’s intrigued.

“Is that your usual routine? Have a meal out then have a meal at home?”

“Maybe it is.” You shrug. “I never object to a wine n dine.”

“And what exactly would you object to?”

“Cocky girls who think they’re the shit.” You say, turning your head to face her. You don’t mean to target her, but she simply smiles.

“Is it really being cocky if I can back it up though?” Paige asks quietly. You’re not walking anymore, stuck in place on an empty path between buildings. She’s closing in on you until your back hits a brick wall. The way Paige is staring down at you, hands in her pockets, lip between her teeth. It’s nothing you’d object to, ever.

“I won’t believe it till I see it.” You mutter, holding her eye. The air is tense in a new way that you haven’t felt with her since you first met in the bar. Her face is entrancing.

Paige’s hands lift your jaw upwards, and she leans into your ear. “You might not see it,” she mumbles, breath hot against your skin. “But you’ll definitely feel it.”

When she pulls back from your ear she stays hovering just above you, hands chastely holding your head up. You’re in the perfect position to kiss, and you can’t stop your eyes from darting between her electric stare to her lush, pink lips.

You can literally feel her breath on your mouth when a piercing ring cuts through the moment. It’s coming from her pocket, and she pulls out your phone. Paige’s face twists as she reads the screen. “It’s Elaine.”

“Just- just decline it.” You rush out, not caring how desperate you sound. You can feel how wet you are, and the lack of heat against you is blaring.

“She texted you too.” Paige scoffs. “She’s waiting for you at your hotel.”

You don’t even know what to say. Paige’s face is expressionless. You’re disappointed, but there’s no point in begging. Nothing really happened.

“Let’s get you home.” She says, starting to walk back from where you came. “Shouldn’t keep her waiting.” Her tone is dripping with toxicity. It makes you shiver.

ok ok so ive never watched a playthru or played it myself but in mouthwashing, does jimmy display symptoms of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder? bc some people call him psychotic/schizophrenic when referring to the horrible shit he does and as someone who has severe depression w/ psychotic symptoms (and schizophrenic family) it does not feel great lol.... considering how bigoted fandom spaces are in general it doesnt surprise me. but idk at least if there's some basis for this in the game and its not just usual fandom head canons being ableist I'd understand

I’m gonna preface this w I don’t have any sort of psychotic symptoms (that I know of lol.) but like. I get where the fandom is coming from? But I don’t agree w the him experiencing psychosis/BPD symptoms/etc = him being a bad person. His life + experiences + their hyper capitalist reality + his closest friend brushing his warning signs under the rug just snowballs and makes him worse and worse. I have such a love hate relationship w Jimmy bc like. Yes he did a very bad thing. But also like! It didn’t have to be that way! If he got help the game just. Wouldn’t happen. But also like! Even without his symptoms he’d be a bad guy which is something to keep in mind.

he canonically hallucinates in the game. Personally I think Jimmy has some sort of schizophrenzia (or general psychosis? Not sure. I’m not a psychologist.) + npd + bpd.

it’s really heavily implied he’s someone who never got help for his issues and his closest friend (Curly) constantly downplays his issues (which makes Jimmy worse. I think Curly insists Jimmy is ‘normal’ and just insists he needs sleep/water/vitamins/etc which just makes things worse.

Mouthwashing is also set in like a hyper capitalist world where mental health is like. Not a concern at all really. Even the psych evaluations that happen in game are really only to ensure everyone can do their job. And the only tool given to solve issues within a crew is a gun.

Pony Express (the company in the game) only allows employees 5 hours of break (yes this includes sleep time). So like. Jimmy is not only facing mental health problems but also + isn’t sleeping enough at all + stuck on a ship in space. Basically. He’s not doing good.

I think there’s a lot to be said about mouthwashing + capitalism and lack of mental health resources/discussion.

Keep in mind guys these are just thoughts/opinions so

Listen do I think that Darry and Paul being so close in high school and probs a bit codependent lead to them being more than just besties? Yes. Yes I do. Paul be holding wayyyy too much of a grudge coming back to get in a high school fight as his big age in the book just for fun, bro was specifically wanting to see Darry I think. Don’t get me started on the musical because if book Paul was being a bit obsessed, musical Paul straight up beating up Darry’s little brother like bro… you’re so mad about Darry rn you’re making it everyone’s problem 😂

All to say, he def had a little crisis in high school cause he had feelings for, and probably had at least made out with Paul a few times. Idk if it went any further in my mind, because they’re both stuck in a society where there’s already greaser vs soc expectations and then there’s a lot of repression about different sexualities so. I think they’d be a bit repressed and kinda toxic about it. Ie make out and then act like it meant nothing (Paul probably did this, Darry probably got feelings and then moved on when he realized they could never work)

So Darry moves on from Paul because that goes down in a blaze of glory in high school imo, senior year Darry gets boy of the year and Paul just crashes out.

Darry does some soul searching (to the best of his abilities given the internalized homophobia of the time) and comes to the conclusion there have been a few men he finds attractive, but leans more towards women and is content to see himself with a girl, so he sorta just represses the male attraction as a survival instinct.

Then we have him and Betty and they’re adorable and perfect etc etc and we love them

Darry really doesn’t think about it again UNTIL in my little head I think what would go down is, Steve and Soda get reckless, as is in their nature. And Darry catches them making out in the dark on the front porch one night and just about has a heart attack

Like bro pulls them in the front door by the shirt collars, Soda’s already crying, Steve’s ready to go down swinging.

He launches into a LONG rant about how could yall be so stupid and reckless and what the hell were you thinking

And Soda is fuckin devastated and like inconsolable

And Darry is like ‘Soda crying is not going to get you out of getting grounded for being reckless,I’m not falling for it’ (cause Darry, our oblivious lovable protective older brother forgot the part where Soda is scared shitless rn, he just thinks soda’s upset cause Darry’s gonna ground his ass for doing that shit out in the open where they could get seen by less friendly eyes)

And then Soda is like u aren’t gonna kick me out? And Darry’s like I’m trying to lock you inside rn tf you mean kick you out?? And then he realizes and is like OH WAIT

He has to console them both for a long while, and explain that he’s not mad at them for doing that, but for the love of all that’s holy can they do it inside where it’s SAFE

Betty’s mom has an uncle who’s lived with his ‘roommate’ for like twenty years in New York, she’s chillin. She’s def been a bit curious about girls herself, but never felt strongly enough to do anything about it.

hi, so in relation to your post about physical touch when you’re someone who’s used to being touched clinically and stuff.. i wanted to tell you that it moved me a lot, so thanks <33 i’m the anon who wrote a few days ago abt chronic pain, idk if you remember

but it got me thinking about how when you’ve lived most of your life in pain, your perception of sensations is so messed up. enjoying basic things like touch can be a very difficult task, and it sort of feels like you have to unlearn so many pain patterns just to be able to feel certain stimuli normally. like for me, i’m just a girl w a lot of issues in my pelvic area, and just speaking from experience, it was so hard to learn to tolerate and later enjoy sexual sensation and touch, just because your body is so used to pain there. and that’s kind of what moves me so much about lu, just the fact that i know he understands. cause pain in those areas is so stigmatized and isolating (for men and women, i think), so it really takes someone who really cares for you to work with you through it. like i just really hope there was someone in his life who he could trust with that, who was gentle with him and patient and touched him with care. it just got me feeling this strong (very emotionally charged) urge to touch him so gently and softly that he can doze off. to just touch and hold him with so much care that he can release all the tension. could be sexual or not, it doesn’t matter. just being close to him and taking care of him however he wants. kind of breaks my heart a little bit :(

arthur has a lot of scattered interests but as far as i can remember, he's not really into anything infodump worthy like the others. loren definitely likes hearing him talk in general but i can see them also really liking to listen to him talk about his childhood w eleanor. he also says how he used to drive aoi crazy talking about his dreams for the future so he'd definitely talk about that a lot - since loren came from timeloop central i think the idea of dreaming of the future is super foreign to them so they'd definitely like it . especially since its a future Together..... i can also see him talking about cooking stuff like recipes he wants to try making... i bet he can go on about those for a bit ^_^

self indulgent but i think since he's such a romantic he'd probably be into poetry a little too... maybe he talks about that? loren would def enjoy listening to him talk about that... lay their head on his lap while he rambles about it.......

loren is a bit of a weapon nerd and they tend to get excited explaining how their freaky future guns work and i think arthur loves seeing them so happy that he'll accept that their weapons like to scream sometimes while listening to them ramble about it ^_^ i think loren also talks at length about how they grew up which arthur does like to hear but he usually stops them before they can start talking about the Bad Things. like the whole parents dying and being stuck in timeloop central. yea!

lacey is very much kinda similar to loren in that they can listen to argenti forever. i think they like to hear him talk about his travels and/or idrila the most - he has a way about waxing poetic about places that they've never been and people that they'll never meet that they really love... i think ironically they also like to hear him talk about the lacey he knew . the original ^_^ he seems like the type to look happy recalling happy memories like that even if everything got fucked up later

lacey is a meganerd probably erudition emanator so they have a lot to say..... i think they like to rubber duck argenti a lot as in just talking througj everything they're doing to troubleshoot yk... i think argenti really likes to watch them talk too. maybe their face softens a bit when talking about their nerd robotics shit and for a second he's reminded a bit of the lacey he knew ^_^ idk. i think he would give some input here and there where he can but he mostly loves watching them. occasionally brushes a bit of hair out of their face and apologises for interrupting and how they should please continue.....

1. Which part of the series was your introduction to HTTYD? How old were you when you first became a fan?

i rmr it pretty well. i was abt 11 years old & my mom found the first movie on comcast on demand & wanted to find a movie for us we (my siblings & i) hadn't seen so she chose it. i rmr the year prior with all the commercials on tv & stuff & was like hey!! i rmr wanting to see this! cool!! and i rlly liked the movie!!!!! my full obsession, however, didn't start until abt a year later when she brought home this pack of the first 6 books (that's all that was available at the time!) & reading through them i rewatched the movie & we had it on dvd by that point and that was it. the rest is history

5. What type of dragon do you think best matches your personality?

oh gosh. the impulse to say my fave but whispering deaths don't rlly "match" me personality wise. tbh a gronckle, me thinks. with a personality like meatlug or shattermaster. :') they're such goofy goobers but they're also rlly sweet & i am so soft for that LOL. they remind me of the dog i grew up with with how snorty they are & the way they wag their tails :'))

its canon that some part of michael survived when he merged w the distortion, like he fucking hates the institiute and is out for revenge (and rightfully so!!) and even w ulterior motives of stopping the watcher from getting what it wants he still like. helped several people, mostly from the institute too!! like he is def torn because thats been his workplace and driving force for most of his life, but also it was what caused his death!!

so considering that, and if uve ever listened to who can it be now u will know why im thinking abt this, maybe there were moments where whatever was left of michael managed to win over the urge to do evil spiral fear bullshit. like i didnt think abt this before today but this song gives me the vibes of michael who is stuck half alive half a monster and maybe in a moment of lucidity he refuses to take any victims. if he open his door in those moments it is only to help. he starves himself bc for a clear moment he sees what he has become and he makes the choice to be human.

Yeah there were a lot of things that have happened in the last.... year and a half? idk. but in addition to the divorce and all this upheaval i've finally gotten to see a therapist who helped me process lots of my trauma (but not all) and i've got a much more level head on my shoulders bc of it.

i LOVED the acolyte and i am def in the oshamir pit rn (the fic i'm writing) but i've also gotten into sandman pretty hardcore. sandman is one of those "you never walk in the same garden twice" things like lord of the rings, like Star Wars, like all those wonderful things. i also got really into legend of zelda, (briefly) baldur's gate 3, and my nail polish collection is. certainly huge. during the olympics these last several weeks i did write a very fast and unhinged torchbearer/flagbearer thing and i'm proud of it esp since they came back for the closing ceremonies (they touched pole guys)

the good news is that i won't be stuck in the mud (texas, my marriage, etc) for long. other good news is i'm taking the cats goddamnit. the ex can take the car and leave me fucking stranded here but i have the cats.

EVENTUALLY i'll update that Tusken lore document to include BOBF stuff (notably the Tusken sign language parts) and a little more information about the jezail inspired cycler rifles.

okay sooo i basically wanted an excuse to think about jack being alive post-canon, but i figured if u bring back the guy who had it coming its only fair to bring back other characters who should not have beefed it. and so! the best option seemed like the new-U system! i know they're just a game mechanic thats not supposed to be taken literally but if they're not gonna use it i am lol.

roland not respawning after jack kills him in bl2 is kinda weird since he defs uses new-Us in bl1, but i could see jack using a jammer or some chump shit to interrupt the process. maya n lilith's deaths happen in ways were i……. get that they wouldnt respawn but their data could be still in the system somewhere. i also think non-vault hunter npc like scooter would have at least fast traveled once (most of the fast travels are also hyperion? i think? they feel like the same tech) so they might also have digistruct data. sometimes the system trips up, or u cant pay the fee ect ect, and u dont respawn, but ur up there! backed up in the damn cloud or some nonsense.

wilhelm, nisha, n aurelia are all perma-killed in canon, but are replayable fights, so TECHNICALLY they kind of are respawning they're just………… stuck. the new-U puts them back together but they cant move on for some reason. some goes for a lot of the other infinitely respawning bosses/enemies.

so the catalyst for this au now that bl3 is out is that post-canon, tannis is training her siren powers by shifting thru hyperion's systems, she decides familiarizing herself with the new-U system might be useful when she uncovers all these backed up and malfunctioning respawns, and realizes that if she just like. refreshes the system, all these people might come back. she consults with the other raiders about her findings, n that she probably COULD pick and choose profiles to revive their friends but not their enemies, but tannis is trying to AVOID playing god these days thank u very much.

ultimately they all want their friends back too much to pass up the opportunity and have tannis go thru with it. everybody respawns!! everybody gets a lot of confused echo-messages!! everybody cries!! the crimson raiders are reunited!!!

(this is the part where i talk abt jack and angel's respawns bc they're. specific.)

jack not respawning at a new-U is kinda weird with the context that he like. owns them? it tracks that he thought he was too good to need them, but hes also very paranoid, so what if he had his set up different? a failsafe in the Very Unlikely Event something happens to him, where instead of the nearest new-U, he's respawned at a station in a saferoom somewhere where he can be in immediate control of the situation again. it also tracks that he was very confident he could keep angel safe, but again. what if the very very worst happens? angel's respawn is set to be something only jack can activate, but he has to do it manually so no one else can get to her first. his ego was too big to see any flaws with this!

he doesnt think about the chance that something happening to angel while she's so deeply ingrained in hyperion's systems might mess stuff up. so when she dies, the saferoom goes dark, and jack's too far gone to notice. he's going to win the day and revive his daughter into the better, safer world he's going to build. this does not happen, he dies and his data has no new-U to go to so it just sits there. until tannis resets the system, which powers his saferoom up and spits him out. a new-U glitch he didnt care enough about to have anyone patch interrupts the reconstruction process and he loses his arm to it. he manages enough first aid to not just die again, and finally respawns angel, hoping she'll help him.

after respawning, once angel is able to get her bearings, she's devastated by the idea that jack won, but quickly realizes he DIDNT and he's very hurt and weak right now and this is her CHANCE. but she cant bring herself to kill him she wants to so badly but she just. cant go through with it. but she sure as shit can pistol whip him, collar him, and march him straight to the crimson raiders. once she finds them.

(there are some other specifics we have about this au, and lots we havent figured out yet but this post is already so long im sorry……..)

hi oomf. i come to talk abt The Music. usually i would have sent something the moment i got done listening to it but i was fighting for my life (migraine 😔) but its another day and i've had more time to rlly digest the songs so at least my thoughts can be more coherent.

as a whole, i enjoyed myself a lot! it was very fun to listen to. there's something INSANE about hearing sh*wnu again. like wowwww i forgot how much i liked his voice??? it was such a joy, i think i ended up rlly latching to his lines. but hy*ngwon did rlly good too, i actually think his breathy tone (dunno how to describe it) was a rlly great fit for some of these songs, it was very neat. i feel like the entire ep sounded exactly like what i would expect from a unit with these two... idk but something about it just felt so natural. so i had a lot of fun! if i have any complaints, is that i wish it was a little longer... i RLLY could use a couple more songs, especially from hy*ngwon. as for more specific thoughts love me a little was reaaaally good, and i think it was the objective best choice as a title track so i'm glad they went with it. the chorus was SOOO good, its been stuck in my head all day. and the last part of the song was also sooo great, it had a rlly strong conclusion i feel. its rlly rlly cool to see hy*ngwon making title tracks, i reaaally hope he gets a chance to do it again. love therapy was not a fave but it had some rlly strong parts... i love love love the part where it's just hy*ngwon talk singing, it scratches such an itch for me. and that one high note by sh*wnu.... shaking throwing up /pos. roll with me was SO.... i think its my favorite. listen.... its the fucking piano... stumbling by chance through the wrk of art that your mind has crafted has been the best thing that could have happened to me the last 6 months!

the story that your brilliant mind has come up w/ & your great ability in putting it down,in narrating it so well, made so i just couldn’t stop reading: i needed to know where the beginning,the premise,was heading. i needed to know what would happen next. i needed to know where u would take this story,what turn would u take, how u would bring your characters to life & how they would play their roles in the story. i needed to know how u would make everything shift,grow,change,evolve,start,begin,finish etc in the story. i needed to see 4 myself your creation to the extent it would reach w/ each new chapter!

i’ve been talking(maybe a bit too passionately,srry 4 that😅) abt your story but let’s not neglect your writing!

oh god your writing,where do i even begin?!!

i feel like your writing is the main reason i got so engrossed into the story. 

your writing is breathtaking! it’s so curated & rich in thoughtful detail! its form is so smooth & clear,making reading it smth that occurs naturally & in a pleasant continuous way. your way of writing is so intoxicating,addictive to be precise.

…on a sillier note,i really think it’s addictive,literally couldn’t stop reading & i may have got so much into reading that i forgot to have breakfast & lunch💀(no worries,they pulled me out of my induced hyper-attention & slapped me back into reality by the hour of dinner😂)

now,focusing more onto things of the story that stuck out to me b4 i lose my scattered brain cells that i managed to collect a bit:

-like another anon mentioned b4, it’s the 1st time i see it & i can only appreciate it. i’m talking abt how u have amalgamated the element of both the supernatural & paganism into the story,w/out being smth that clashed w/ the flow or the usual elements of the hybrid trope. it’s also a very important example of representation & diversity(like anon pointed out w/ the example abt christianity being almost the sole belief often represented,w/out bashing the religion itself ofc). as some1 who isn’t pagan themselves,respectfully, i found it both refreshing & also fascinating,& the way this element of religiosity(/ agnosticism in the case of jk) has been incorporated into the story def just added to the reading experience & made things way more interesting!

-i absolutely love how much detail & thought went into creating well crafted & attained to relationships outside the sphere of the characters who’ll be involved romantically w/ the protagonist. u gave so much importance also to other characters u created to portray diff relationships of family,friendship or simple encounters(gerry/the hairdresser etc) w/ the protagonist, building a wrld outside just the circle of future romance interest,which gives the protagonist so much more characterisation & realism. it made the story so incredibly immersive & realistic,regardless of the supernatural or not😆

-another thing that struck me,is the depiction of the hybrids as a marginalised group & the protagonist clashing w/ the difference in their privileges & realities. i remember she seemed almost unaware at certain points of the true extent of the cruelty & discrimination hybrids usually face,which makes sense considering she canonically has never been close to hybrids or their reality as much throughout her live(beside the lil fox frnd in her childhood) so it makes 4 a great starting point into her journey of learning,change,unlearning & coming to terms w/ the fact that if the boys have some moments of distrust,venting etc it isn’t necessarily bc of her but bc of what they went through & what they know & have lived on their skin & it is an experience that has left a trace in their brain 4ever & has impacted them & it may slip & show in their reactions or behavior w/ y/n(namjoon’s cold-hot treatment, jk’s animosity,distrust & need 4 distance, seokjin’s anxiety at the cookout,hobi’s alertness when she woke him up). we still don’t know the details,but it’s obvious that their past has traumatized them & shaped some parts of them & in your exquisite writing,that part of them isn’t smth that just unrealistically & magically disappears simply bc now they are in a healthier,safer,happier environment w/ the mc. mc’s efforts are mitigating the trauma responses & slowly setting the bridge toward the journey to start healing from their past(way later into the story,i assume) but she didn’t just “cure” everything already just w/ kindness & care,it’s a journey that just begun that we are still seeing unfold & shift according to the direction of the story & also to every individual hybrid,which makes it more realistic & captivating to read

smth i’m super excited 4(beside ch 7 & tae’s situation that u left us in w/ a cliffhanger) is how u’r gonna develop the relationships between the hybrids & mc once they all start to develop feelings,accept them & start acting according to their feelings. i’m not only curious abt when & how it’s gonna happen 4 each character individually but also how this will change & shift the dynamic the hybrids are going to have w/ e/o at that point.

u also mentioned they all gonna be doms,so since you mentioned it i’m so intrigued abt what type of dom you’r going to make each character be & how they’ll start interacting w/ mc & e/o after their dynamics change according to their feelings

I'm also very glad that you like the pagan and supernatural aspects of the plot and characters! It is a big part of MC, her mother, and for now-- Jeongguk and Namjoon's characters. Overall, the plot will continue to build upon the more occult and supernatural/paranormal themes, and more of the hybrids will become involved in various ways, so I'm stoked that readers are enjoying those aspects of the plot! It has been important to me to find the right balance between the religious/supernatural themes and the hybrid!AU, and to be honest, with every chapter I write it is still a balancing act. I am hoping to do these themes justice, and represent some pagan practices and holidays through Trouvaille in the best way I can based off of my own practices. I'm thrilled that you're enjoying the magic so far!

As for some of the side characters you've mentioned (!!!) I'm also super excited you've brought them up. I agree with you, it is important for MC to have relationships outside of the ones she has with the hybrids. She had a fully fleshed out life prior to meeting them at Gerry's shelter, so making sure that MC had plenty of friends, co-workers, family, and interactions with people such as Gerry or the hairdresser you mentioned was a priority to me. Some of my favorite interactions in Trouvaille so far happen between MC and her childhood best friend, Ben. Her friends will play more important roles down the line as the story progresses, specifically the twin sisters she is close to, Laura and Alice. I'm happy that these other characters have made MC seem all the more realistic, and that you've mentioned the side characters as well-- I had a lot of fun creating them! 🥰

SO you bring up an excellent point surrounding the hybrids themselves, and the relationship MC has with the species of hybrids in general. Nobody is perfect, least of all MC, and that's exactly how I wanted to write her. She can be naive, a little sheltered, overly trusting, and even somewhat oblivious at times. That said, I agree with you; she is definitely unaware of just how much hybrids, and her hybrids in particular, have suffered in the past. She knows that they've all suffered through traumatic experiences, but she doesn't know the details. MC is also blissfully unaware of just how much hybrids in her society are treated and even how they behave-- not because of willful ignorance, but simply because she never considered that she'd have a hybrid in her life, let alone seven. Sure, she's aware of the headlines surrounding hybrid trafficking, the wealthy adopting hybrids for sport hunting, but there is lots about the hybrid world she has yet to learn about. You're right, a major part of Trouvaille will be MC learning about hybrids as a species and truly understanding what it is like for them to move through the society Trouvaille takes place in.

I like that you've brought up specifically some of the boy's behaviors so far. Namjoon's hot and cold behavior is a big one, as well as Jeongguk's prickly, distrustful personality. Seokjin, notably, has a huge backstory that I've yet to dive into, but he has a lot of unresolved trauma/PTSD as well that surfaces as anxiety, jittery behavior, and phobias. As for Hoseok, there is no telling what he had gone through at shelters to react so defensively when woken up, as he had been moved around shelter to shelter- these are all things I'm super excited you have picked up on and remembered. Each hybrid has things to work on and through, but as you mentioned, these issues will not be solved simply because MC adopted them. Sure, a safe place to live and her kindness is a start, but there will be a long process of healing for each of the hybrids. Healing is never linear and the same goes for the hybrids in this story; it will get messy and angsty, but over time they will make great progress, I'm sure. One great trait MC has is patience, so she'll definitely make space for each hybrid to heal and open up to her in their own time. I'm excited to share all of these backstories with you all, as well!!

As for the romance! We are definitely a ways away from it, but hopefully readers can sense the slooooowww build to it with certain hybrids already. There is a lot to tackle before romance becomes involved (most of the reasons as to why in the previous two paragraphs) but the wait will totally be worth it! I have ideas for each hybrid and how they will realize their feelings (all different and unique to each boy), when their confessions will happen; the whole timeline for that is planned out, including the order of when each hybrid gets with the MC. I'm still working on how the hybrids will react to one another once romance is involved, its one of the things that has been more difficult to flesh out in my outlines over the past year. Not to worry- as there is much time to go before that happens LOL!

Sooo because romance is a bit far away, so is the smut. I have mentioned that I've written my Trouvaille hybrids as doms. I think, when answering this question in the past, I might have sparked a little trepidation in some readers. Because these are my characters I've been working on for over a year, this decision has made the most sense to me for several reasons that I've answered in previous asks. I also mentioned that there would be a great variety as far as how they'd all act in the bedroom, as unique as the characters themselves are, how their feelings during confessions would be, so too will they all be unique when the time comes for smut. Now, when I say they'll all be dominant, I do not mean they'll be 50 Shades of Grey type dominants. This isn't a BDSM fic. Sure, some of them will be rougher than others, but there are also the sweeter, more vanilla doms as well. Like I said, this is off in the future, so when the time comes, I'll appropriately label chapters with smut contained within them. This all boils down to how I've written these characters, including MC, as well as staying within my wheelhouse when it comes to writing sex scenes.
