This is a short one, but oh so very sweet. It focuses on Senketsu’s love for Ryuko’s heartbeat.

A funny and cute story that takes place after the series and doesn’t make Senketsu a humanoid. While that’s all good and fine, it’s nice to see fics like these, too.

A really sweet story. Ryuko is deaf, but she can hear Senketsu’s voice, and can hear what he hears when they synchronize.

I mean I read 'Strings and Threads' and a few others, but now I got lots of free time and wanna read something good (i mean i could read books but who reads books these days), and since you were in this fandom for so long and you write yourself too, I'm pretty sure you'd know. Hey there! I’m glad to hear you like the blog, thank you!

Unfortunately, though, I’m probably just about one of the worst people to recommend Kill la Kill fics. Since most stories are smut and/or pair Ryuko and Satsuki romantically (which I am not interested in), I honestly don’t read a lot of them. Nearly a quarter of what’s on AO3 are Ryuko/Satsuki fics alone.

Also, it’s important to note that for such a popular anime, Kill la Kill’s fic scene has been relatively small and quiet, and that’s especially true now with the show being over three years old. While other big 2013 anime like Attack on Titan and Free! have thousands upon thousands of fics on AO3 (34,000+ for Titan and 14,000+ for Free!), Kill la Kill has, as of this writing, only 929. 

From a writer’s perspective—or hey, maybe just me—there isn’t as much incentive to write Kill la Kill fic as there would be for something more popular because there just isn’t the same kind of audience for it; for instance, compare the 1,471 comments on Free’s! top-commented fic to Kill la Kill’s 228. Even as someone who loves Kill la Kill to pieces and has probably written a quarter million words of fanfiction for it by now, I feel pressured to write something else. I write fanfiction to get better, and I don’t mean to disregard those who have supported me because I really do appreciate it! But there simply isn’t the audience here to give me the varied and expansive concrit I’m really looking for.

Or hey, maybe just me again. But the point is, please understand that with such a small community, a lot of people aren’t going to be as motivated to write for Kill la Kill, so there’s a regrettably small pool of fics available.

To add to this list, if you’re looking for works without pairings, you can put -relationship_ids:* under the “Search within results” box on AO3 for the Kill la Kill section, which will filter out any tagged fics with pairings. Here are Kill la Kill’s results. (Though please note that some fics here are not tagged properly and the results do filter out platonic “&” relationships as well.)

I’ve been meaning to do a big read through of these for fic recommendations because I have been asked several times about Kill la Kill fic recs, but I unfortunately haven’t gotten around to making that list yet. So, for just a couple of newer ones I can recommend:
