1. How long ago did you wake up? 8 hours ago. Quite later than the usual; I often wake up at 6:15 AM these days, but today I took until 7:45ish.

2. With a fried egg, do you prefer the yolk runny or set? I like them really runny. I wouldn't be as enthusiastic if the yolk was already set/cooked all the way through.

3. Would you ever want to visit Thailand? I did and I have! I went to Bangkok last year. Would love to go back.

4. Do you like Marvel movies? Do you have a favourite? I honestly am not. After the The Avengers craze I quickly got tired of the superhero oversaturation.

5. Have you ever planned a wedding? Not as the main person-in-charge, but I have been helping Angela and Hans with options when it comes to suppliers. I just give them leads or links and such, but I don't want to override and decide for them obviously.

6. How far away from home is the place you work or study? (or spend the most amount of time outside of home) On a normal, fair day without traffic, it should only be about a 20-25 minute drive away. But alas I live in a country where we live and breathe traffic + the one bridge on the way to the office recently got partially destroyed because of a typhoon, so now it takes me anywhere between an hour, hour and a half to get to the office.

7. Do you have any pimples right now? Yeah, annoyingly so. Left side of my face, a little bit above my lip. It's like when a pimple is close to fading, there's another one that pops up someplace else and it's really annoying.

8. What member of your family are you most similar to? In which ways? Idk if there's anyone. Maybe my eldest cousin on my mom's side? We're both into reading and learning about humanities. We can both be pretty opinionated and outspoken, especially about politics. We're both the firstborn in our respective families who never really got the chance to be a child, so we both have pretty cynical outlooks and matured quite quickly.

9. How do you listen to music? Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube, something else? I've been on Spotify for the longest time, but not too long ago I decided to give Apple Music a try because I've been reading everywhere that it has better music quality. Turns out people were telling the truth – music sounds a lot crisper on the other side haha.

I listen to Apple Music more frequently now, but more so for one-off songs that I wanna listen to because Spotify still has all of my playlists and I can't be assed to re-make them one by one on AM – if that makes sense.

10. Do you think everyone should vote, even if it's not mandatory? It's very important to, as it's a right that you have. Problem is where I'm from, lack of voter education has always led the masses to always just vote for celebrities or whoever has familiar surnames. Unfortunately they have no awareness that it's these very people who are the corrupt ones and keep the country in the poor state it's in.

Everyone should vote, but everyone also should first be educated on how to vote and how to scrutinize every candidate.

11. Have you ever painted a rock? Nah. Closest thing is painting eggs for Easter, lol.

12. If you could have any animal as a pet, what would you have? I'd love to just keep having dogs. It's my dream to have my own shelter for stray dogs.

13. Do you ever shop at Aldi? Do you even have one nearby? Well, no, because we don't have that here.

14. How old were you at your first concert? I was 14 turning 15 when I went to my first concert – this was in 2013.

I went on so many dates before and I haven’t recently because men suck and I know it

I’ve been thinking about it recently and last night i met some dude - not very cute - just ok. But even is he WERE beautiful. Same thing

So he leaves and asks me to go to lunch with him.

I ask where and he wants me to go to his town.

Ok. Listen. Absolutely not.

First off. I don’t go out of my way for men anymore because they always treat me badly. Thats why i sonf don’t go on dates cause theyre never in my area (the most popular spot in japan lol what. Fuck off. You can come here and you deff do cause everyone does)

Anyway yah. This dude asked me our for lunch and im rolling around in my squishy bed happy to have said no

1) theres a typhoon coming and its down-pouring off an on. Theres literal floods.

2) lunch… ew ill be sleeping

3) day.. sun… i dont do sun

4) rain… even if not a typhoon… rain…

5) getting all dolled up to go out in all that. Ugh. A process

6) taking the train…. Ugh

7) payingggg for the train…

8) it’s lunch time. Theres a bunch of gross ppl ok the train. Crowded. I hate crowds

9) its raining so those ppl are all muggy and extraaaa smelly - i cry

10) my timeeeeee traveling to and from him. Waste of my life

11) i go and he a)stands me up b)tries to take me to his host club c)won’t feed me… the entire purpose of fucking meeting d)fine date but he never contacts me again

All the above is a possibly as well. And all suck. Regret. A complete waste of my day

I used to go. “Why not” “let’s see what happens” “you never know!” - those were my thoughts when i used to push myself to say yes to this bullshit and go deal with all of that

I’ve been on one successful date in my entire life… if that because he immediately cheated on me and wouldn’t even break up with me without… a traumatizing ordeal

Eh my friends dont get it. No one gets it. I wanted to rant and gloat about how im glad im laying in my bed with no intention of moving and i literally couldnt care less about it - i barely was interested even if he had said he’d come to me

It does suck though. That it doesn’t seem that I’ll ever find a boy I LIKE who likes me back

Infinity week event 8-14 (Part 1)

The event was hosted by Hatanaka Tasuku (Reki's voice actor) and Producer Uryuu! There were some musical acts and Hatanaka answered some questions and we even got some questions answered by Utsumi!

The show was opened by Rude-a singing paradise and then Hatanaka came out on the stage.

Rude-a said he hadn't sung in a while and he actually has a hang over (he's too honest? lol) and Hatanaka joked that he didn't seem hung over lol. They talked about how it was the first event for SK8 held in Okinawa and mentioned that Rude-a is from Okinawa. They asked the audience who was from Okinawa and who was visiting for the event. There was about half of each. Some people were there for the first time. Hatanaka asks if there is anything he recommends for people visiting and Rude said they should eat Okinawa Soba. He recommended a place called Gon. Then they waved at the viewers of the stream lol.

Then they moved onto the "Our infinity talk!!" section and Producer Uryuu came out. They mentioned that the 8th was Reki's birthday and say happy birthday to Reki. Hatanaka says he was really moved by how everyone drew pictures for Reki for his birthday. They mention that Kobayashi Chiaki (Langa's actor) was supposed to be at the event but he caught covid and was unable to attend. But Uryuu is here to take his place for today!

There was a typhoon that hit Tokyo this weekend and Hatanaka says he wasn't sure if they'd be able to do the Okinawa event because of the typhoon but it turned toward Tokyo so Okinawa was okay lol.

The week started with a screening event on the 8th hosted by Midorikawa Hikaru (Cherry's voice actor). Hatanaka says that he heard what Midorikawa talked about was like he was a serious fan of the show. Uryuu said it sounded like he's a "Deep Fan" lol. Hatanaka says that having someone like Midorikawa be so invested in SK8 is really moving to him and a junior actor. Uryuu says that Midorikawa really praised Hatanaka and Hatanaka is really embarrassed and pleased to hear it. He said but "What do I do if he thinks that Reki has changed when we continue?!" and that he would work really hard to do his best as Reki.

They talk about the pictures and the quiz that they posted on the website and Hatanaka says that all the pictures were quite good but the quiz was SUPER HARD. He only got a 36 when he took it. Uryuu asks who in the audience got better than him and pretty much everyone raised their hands lol. Hatanaka says that the comments that they gave when you got your results were like when you take tests to get into schools and it made him want to try harder. He was going to comment about the question about how many times he yelled "Langa!" in the show but Uryuu told him he couldn't say the answer so he just said he guessed 12 lol. Uryuu says that they counted how many times it was noted in the script but how Hatanaka acted it might have come across different to people. They joke about how many times Hatanaka said "Ganga" but Uryuu says they didn't count that.

Next they got a video message from Midorikawa Hikaru.

He asks if everyone is having a good time at the event and that while everyone was probably really excited during infinity week today is the last day! He jokes about Hatanaka being sick with covid last week and hopes he's well now. Hatanaka says he is lol. Midorikawa then says that since it's the end he personally thinks that there will be something special at the end of the event!

Uryuu and Hatanaka comment about how Midorikawa always seems so passionate about SK8 and Hatanaka says he might be the most enthusiastic out of the whole cast lol.

Hatanaka then pulls out a letter from his pocket and starts reading it and it turns out to be a letter from Kobayashi Chiaki! He apologizes for not being able to attend the event and Hatanaka says "don't worry just rest!" He was really looking forward to the event in Okinawa and he's feeling better so he hopes to see everyone again. "I'm sure that Reki and Langa are secretly watching somewhere so make sure to enjoy the event fully!" "P.S. I don't want chinsuko (Okinawan cookies) as a present I want beni imo tart (purple sweet potato tart)" (this is in reference to an exchange Hatanaka and Kobayashi had on twitter when it was announced that he wouldn't be able to attend. Hatanaka said he'd bring him chinsuko as a present.)

Hatanaka says that he asked Kobayashi on Line if there was anything he wanted to say and normally people would say "good luck!" or something but he came back with this long message lol. Uryuu mentions it would have been his first time in Okinawa so it's a little sad he wasn't able to come so she hopes they can do it again someday.

Uryuu asks if Hatanaka went anywhere since he got there yesterday and he says he can't really say since it would be spoilers(????) but he went to places that appear in SK8.

He says that he wasn't able to go to the park where Reki and Langa practice since it's about to be under construction. They tell the audience they can still go there before the construction though lol....

Next they bring out a big box of questions for Hatanaka to answer. Hatanaka reaches in and grabs random questions.

The first question is if there is any scene that he remembers as difficult to act and he had to do a lot of retakes on.

He says that almost all of the scenes had retakes but there was one that he remembers. The scene where he reacts to Langa's first time doing an ollie. He acted it normally as just excited that he did it. Just happy and having fun. But the vocal director told him this scene was supposed to show his thanks to Langa and he should say Langa's name like was saying thank you because he was so thankful to see it. That seeing him see that was the same as him feeling like he was seeing snow falling.

They comment that he must be really happy to have a friend who will skate with him.

The next question is if his impressions about skating have changed since working on SK8.

He says yes. Since honestly he didn't know anything about skating before, but seeing sk8 made him really feel how difficult these tricks are and how high they were jumping and so watching the skateboarding at the 2020 olympics was really fun and exciting. Uryuu says that the staff group chat was really lively.

Hatanaka says that he and Chiaki met one of the competitors, Hirano, because of the show and so he was really excited seeing him compete.

The next question was what was the scene that was the most memorable when he first received the script.

He says ADAM's scenes were really memorable but because at first when reading them, like when Joe was explaining ADAM and he called him the "matador of love" it made him want to laugh. But then actually seeing him in the show he's actually scary and you understand. Even when you see things in the script like "wings appear behind langa" it makes you go "WHY DOES HE HAVE WINGS!?" but actually seeing SK8 it's unbelievable (in a good way). He said that seeing Koyasu act made him feel scared and it was the first time he felt that way while recording.

The next question is about how he felt when Reki and Langa were fighting.

Uryuu said that period was a long time since it was about a whole month. Hatanaka says that he and Kobayashi drove to the recording studio together and so it was awkward between them during that time. They only said a few words between them the whole time. and wondering why they were like that just made it even more awkward lol. He really sympathized with Reki and it lasted from ep 7-10 so it was a long time. But he also thought it was good to be able to use it for the acting lol.

He says the Director was a little worried about them and told them to get along but he didn't think it would be that big of a deal.

They now run out of time to answer questions and move to the next segment.

Main cast one question one answers!

I've been posting these on my tumblr all week so you should know what these are lol.

They did a series of them while they were airing the show and this is the second round of questions to promote the event. Uryuu says that they got the questions from people on twitter so you have all of them (the audience) to blame for the questions lol.

Since they had just posted question 7 they decided to show question 7 in the theater. Hatanaka apologizes for giving everyone the same name as the skateboard. but he thinks they're that important to the series? He's confused by Koyasu's answer and Uryuu says it's because Hachi is how you pronounce 8 so they're 8 names.

People on twitter also answered the questions and they chose one answer for each question they found the most interesting to share with everyone.

Q1: What was the first thing you said when you heard there was going to be more of SK8? I hope ADAM (Ainosuke-san) doesn't get arrested!

Q2: Carla got a new ability! What can she do? She's able to make carbonara all on her own. (He voice is Joe's while she cooks)

Q3: You got a job as a capman from ADAM. What does he ask you to do? While the leader (Kikuchi) is monitoring the live feeds being displayed, I need to collect the cigarette butts that ADAM drops and pick up the red carpet and return them to the leader.

Q4: What lines would you give to this shot? Even though Sakurayashiki-sensei isn't wearing clothing suited for the beach, why does the beach suit him!?

Q5: SHADOW got his own song! What is it called? Orange Tulip ~I'm a shy guy~

Q6: You received a full swing kiss from ADAM! What are your thoughts!?! I understand how a beaten futon feels now

They say they will give presents to the people whose answers were chosen. Hatanaka asks if there are people in the audience who were chosen and there are a few people who say they were.

Since it's infinity week they need 8 questions so they asked Hatanaka another question at the event lol. They also get Kobayashi to answer the questions even though he's not there and they say they'll see who wins between them by who gets the most cheers.

Q8: If you were told "you're my dog for the rest of your life" what would you answer?

Kobayash: A guy named Hatanaka Tasuku would make a much cuter dog than me!

Hatanaka is mildly offended and says it's not a cute answer lol.

Hatanaka: Then, you'll be my master for the rest of your life! Hurry up and put a collar on me and take me to Kokusai Street (where the op was based on) I'm really excited for everyone to see me.

They then ask for claps to see which one was best and Hatanaka obviously wins lol.

Hatanaka says he feels embarrassed winning because he answer was super masochistic.

Uryuu says he won a souvenir set and Hatakana asks if it's wrong to give it to Kobayashi as his present and Uryuu says they'd have to see if it had beni imo tart in it.

Fine, cute enough. Got annoying in the middle with the Phoon thing and then got boring after they got together. The start was the strongest part, the way they portrayed being awkward around one another but still having giddy, cute moments was great. It’s kinda like Vice Versa in the sense that it’s a fun show to binge but you mustn’t think while doing so.

58. The GRAVITY of the part when Roxanne accidentally reveals Megamind in the restaurant is so powerful that I can STILL barely watch it even though I’ve seen it so many times

59. The part that immediately follows where Roxanne shuts down Megamind is SO well done. Roxanne is giving out some harsh words to our dear protagonist, but she is not framed as the bad guy. The great thing about this scene is that they let Roxanne call out Megamind on how he’s been a jerk and she gets to be RIGHT. How very cash money of them! The emotion here isn’t anger at Roxanne because she’s ~being mean~ to Megamind. It’s a sting over the fact that she’s right, and the heartbreak over the dramatic irony of us knowing that Megamind is becoming a better person and Roxanne having no idea. Now Megamind is left with a decision that will show who he truly is on the inside: he could either retreat back into safe, evil ways for the rest of time because it’s easier to be bad because then no one expects anything from him and rejection is easier to handle, or he could ultimately choose to grow from this and recognize how he was wrong and how he has to change. The execution of this midpoint is exemplary.

I think it looks really cool and I’d like to get into it, but there’s a lot of things that are confusing (like all of the different games, the manga, the anime, ect.) and I’m not really sure where to start watching/reading it. Basically, a lot of this depends on you and how you prefer to take in media. People are different after all; some people like reading long novels, some prefer comics, u know! So let’s just go over all the avenues and how to get at them, and the rest is up to you!

I’m gonna make this post very long. VERY VERY LONG. IM SO FUCKn SORyr

First, I’ll talk abt what umineko is; then I’ll discuss the various media; finally, at the end, I’ll write down what I typically recommend to newcomers! SCROLL REALLY FAST TO THE HEADERS IF U HAVE NO TIME FOR MY RAMBLING LOL

READING UMINEKO: UNTANGLING THE WEB

OR: what the fuck is umineko and why do you want me to read it, diesel?

Since this is a general To Whom It May Concern post: Umineko no Naku Koro ni (Or Umineko: When They Cry, alternatively When The Seagulls Cry) is a murder mystery/fantasy/metafiction visual novel published between 2007 and 2011. I know “murder mystery” and “metafiction” sound pretty boring when you combine them, but trust me–Umineko’s unlike anything you’ve seen, and defies explanation. Still, I’m here to do my best!

Umineko is about a rich and complicated family, and their annual family conference–and the year it goes super duper badly. On an isolated island, in the middle of a typhoon, tragedy befalls the family–on a massive scale! Someone is killing them–all of them–and the only answer that seems to be rising is–

“Beatrice did it.”

But Beatrice isn’t supposed to really exist. Not for real!! No one by that name is on the island. It’s just a story! She’s made up–Beatrice is a legend. A witch who has lived for a thousand years–who loaned the family patriarch ten tons of gold, an insane amount of wealth, in exchange for his soul. Now she’s collecting on that loan, taking everything back, with interest–the lives of the family included.

Is the culprit a human, or not? Does the witch exist, or not?Is the culprit one of the 18 people? Does a 19th person exist? Or…?And, most importantly–when the typhoon passes, will anyone remain alive on the island?

I’d super-recommend Umineko if you enjoy: strong characterization, a solidly built mystery (with plenty of smaller mysteries to try your brain with along the way ;) ), complex and nuanced characters, hype magic fights, Logic-Based Combat(???), deep discussions of trauma and its consequences, large casts of characters, Genre Fuckery, coping, Meta™, and milfs Complex Lore

I would, however, NOT recommend Umineko if you are triggered by/can’t stomach reading about: body horror, gore, death, trauma, child abuse, bullying, discussion of suicide, discussion of sexual assault, etc (you can message me for a more complete list of warnings; I’m happy to provide super-specific ones if there’s something specific you’re concerned about, or even give you specific scenes to watch out for. I kept this vague on purpose, but if you message me off anon or via DMs here or at @aceyasu, I’ll be happy to answer anything!)

Overall it’s a pretty dark, emotional story, with a lot of Themes™–but it’s also full of love and genuine heartfelt Feelings. I don’t think any story has touched me the way Umineko has! Of course, everyone’s experience is very unique to them, but I think Umineko has something for everyone (provided, of course, that we’re taking into account the content warnings and excluding people who can’t/don’t want to encounter those things!). The characters, music, story and message–it all has a lot of heart and it all is very important to me as an individual. Obviously no media is flawless, but I think Umineko’s good outweighs its bad…YMMV though of course :p

OKAY WITH THAT OUT OF THE WAY

Umineko’s story is told over 8 arcs–styled as “episodes”. I use “arc” and “episode” sort of interchangeably! Specific ones I just call “EP#” though. All you really need to know though is there’s 8 of them, of varying length, and you have to read them all for the full story.

Each episode has its own focus within the overarching narrative and comes with its own fun mysteries and harrowing developments just for you! yay! But basically, the important thing is that they’re divided into the Question Arcs (1-4) and Answer Arcs (5-8).

Sometimes, to make things confusing, the Answer Arcs are also called “Core Arcs” or “Chiru”. I will use “Answer Arcs” here, but if you encounter those two elsewhere, that’s what they are. :p

ACTUALLY EXPERIENCING UMINEKO

The anime

Generally viewed as a poor product. It’s a bad adaption that fails as a standalone, too, because of the amount of important scenes that are missing. Don’t watch the anime first if you really want to get into Umineko. It’s a fun watch once you know how it’s supposed to go, though :p Covers the Question Arcs only, ends with EP4–so even if it was good, it would only be half the story… press f to pay respects. The opening fuckin slaps though, and all the VAs are solid.

The manga

Each Episode has its own manga adaption, usually done by a different artist (with exception of EP1, EP3, and EP8, which are all by the same artist). Generally solid; gets the most important parts. For people who want to get through quicker, the manga helps a lot.

The primary cost is that a lot of characterization doesn’t get to shine AS bright, as there’s simply no time to get into the nooks and crannies (still a great cast, though). However, the art is usually fantastic–since the artist changes every EP, it’s easy to deal with even if you don’t like a specific one’s style. It’ll be gone by next Episode!

A lot of moments get punched up by the more visual format of the manga. You really get a better sense of the characters interacting physically with one another! You do, however, run into the Scanlation Problem…..

I know, I know–most people, when given the option to, don’t want to pay for things. So when given the choice between fan scanlations and the official release, a lot of people would choose the scanlations. And they’re fine…for the most part…except for the parts that aren’t. Some parts (notably in the Answer Arcs) are…bad. Really bad. Even I can’t really understand it sometimes, despite knowing this story inside out… LOL

If you’re good at parsing Scanlation SNAFU or can’t afford/don’t want to buy it, you can find Umineko on MOST manga hosts! I don’t know which you prefer so I’m not gonna link ‘em hahahafkgmfh I usually use Manga Rock but that’s because I usually am reading on my phone and I like their app. The episodes are all numbered, so it’s pretty easy to find your way around!

On the other hand, if you have a hard time understanding poor translations, reading inconsistent typesetting/fonts, or simply Can afford it/prefer buying media, the manga is being officially released in English by YenPress! As is standard nowadays, you can get them in both physical volumes and digital e-books! However, YenPress’ release is currently ongoing–the first volume of EP8 is slated to release in March.

The visual novel

Ah, here we are–the head honcho himself…! This is the original version of Umineko. These are the ones we call “games”, and why we sometimes say u “play” Umineko, but. Really. It’s just reading. They’re kinetic novels. Its literally just reading. So I don’t know why we complicate things like that.

This is where the characterization and voice of Umineko really shines! The style is often simple to read, sometimes even comically casual, but it cuts deep when it wants to. Even really simple lines can have a really strong impact–it’s a really pleasant style to read, IMO…pretty easy to understand most of the time, but emotionally resonant all the same!

Reading the VN is somewhat of an undertaking, because of the amount of hours required…It’s a far longer read. Depending on your reading speed and whether or not you pause to think/talk about things as you read, people clock in 100-200 hours to finish it.

But, on the upside–because it has so much more time than the manga, the VN can really get deep into the characters, their dynamics, and their inner conflicts. You really get a deep sense for everyone’s character and it makes most of the cast feel fleshed-out enough that you appreciate all of them to some extent (whether positive or negative :P)

Oh, actually–the original Umineko branded itself a “Sound Novel”….as opposed to a Visual Novel, where the emphasis is on, uh–Visuals–Umineko leans more heavily on audio to create its atmosphere. And the music? Fuckin rips!! The Umineko soundtrack is huge and has tons of absolute bangers. It’s easy to see why it decided to market itself as a Sound Novel rather than a visual novel–the graphics of the original PC version are simple, but the atmospheric sound effects and BGM really shines.

The VN nowadays is split into the two halves; if you get EP4, it’ll include 1-3 as well, essentially. Picking up Question Arcs (or EP4) and Answer Arcs (or EP8) gives u the whole 8 episodes. Easy peasy! Because we live in the future now, and retroactive inclusion of past games is just convenient!

There is an official English release now, which is a brand new luxury. It’s even on Steam! Wow! That’s the easiest way to get your paws on the hands-on experience. The translation has been slightly updated as well! Also, they added a new set of toggle-able graphics that are…um…I mean they’re certainly new…#BarelyContainedOpinionAlert

If you don’t want to pay or can’t afford it…uhhh….I used to have torrent links but they’re all dead. :T still, you can probably just find them, if you know your way around torrents. For the translation, you’ll have to either get a pre-patched version of the game, or use the translation group’s instructions to patch it yourself. 

If you can’t do either of those, or just don’t really have a preference, or…any number of reasons, you can also find all the games fully recorded and uploaded to YouTube (with or without commentary)!

If you wanna spruce up your VN-reading experience, here’s the thing: they ported the game to PS3, with brand new graphics and–get this–full voice acting. Wow! There’s even CGs now…Jeez!

These are NOT the same graphics as the new ones from the official English release! That’s important!

SO, if you wanna spruce up the graphics a bit, or you enjoy voice acting with your novels, you can do that! People took apart the PS3 games and made patches for the PC version to enjoy the new graphics and voices. And now it’s available for the Steam version as well!

RONTRA OPINIONS / SUGGESTIONS

Personally, I favor the VN for most scenes, but the manga for my light casual reading. Y’know? The VN can be pretty…um…dense, at times.

Ironically, I think EP1 itself might be the biggest hurdle for total first-timers. It’s definitely paced as a “part 1 of 8″ for the first solid portion! By which I mean, it really takes its time establishing the cast and their individual situations. Which isn’t a bad thing–especially in the overarching scope of how long the story is–but if you aren’t sure about the premise, format, or if you’ll enjoy Umineko at all, it can be sort of…challenging.

It all really depends on the individual–things like attention span, investment, and personal preferences, imo. Some people just don’t enjoy reading that much text at once! And that’s fine! Some people love it and that’s fine! Some people think the intro is too long, some people think it’s intriguing from the start. Some really like watching character building, and some prefer to see action happening. Either way is fine, so it’s really up to you!

Usually, if someone isn’t sure, I suggest they try EP1 in manga form first, just to see if the general premise entices them; it’s fully possible to jump back and do the VN if you decide you like it! It sacrifices some characterization in exchange for exploring the main premise a little faster.

Similarly, if you just can’t get into the VN–you can read the entire thing with manga too, if you favor action over the deepest character lore. It’s still a good time and a good experience!

Though, in EP1′s favor–if you ARE sure about it, and are able to dedicate your attention to the first 10-13 hours of set-up, EP1 has one of the most rewarding escalations I’ve encountered! If you are able to sit and read a fairly long-winded introduction, you are rewarded with the most buck wild Popping Off you can imagine.

So there’s nothing wrong with jumping right in there with the VN, if you enjoy reading!

However, if you do find that the VN is dragging too much for you, you can go in reverse too–and finish EP1 by manga, then decide if you want to jump back to the VN or not. I promise, the novels pick up the pace too–it’s just getting all the introductions down that can be daunting, when the initial cast size is a staggering 18 people (plus the LORE has to be established too)!!

Just for you–if you want to get into Umineko, but struggle with EP1, I’ll offer my private archive of YenPress manga rips for EP1–read the manga, official english translation, for free thanks to your dealer friend, rontra,You will have to message me about it, though–off anon or via DMs, here or at @aceyasu.

My favorite setups when I play by myself are either Original PC Graphics + Voice Acting, or Full PS3 Patch. I personally really like the original PC graphics, but I understand some people think they’re kinda…um…Rough, to say the least xD PS3 graphics are a close second for me though.

I don’t really like the steam version’s new sprites. Some people don’t mind them, so it’s up to you what you prefer, but I think they don’t really convey the feeling as well as their counterparts sometimes… :/

But hey, everyone’s got their own opinions!

I also prefer the EP8 manga to the EP8 VN. If I have control over someone’s first playthrough, I always push over to the manga for EP8! In my opinion, it’s a rare instance where the adaption is better than its original. People have different opinions on this, of course, but since this section is My Opinions Central, that’s my opinioooon!!! :D

SO BASICALLY MY OWN PERSONAL PREFERRED STRUCTURE IS

->TRY EP1 (jump over to manga if struggling; if enjoyed manga ep1 until the end, hop back into the VN at EP2 and come back to EP1 if you want to later)

And then after that there’s some spinoffs that I didn’t talk about because that’s a post for another time. (There’s a fighting game! It’s packed full of spoilers.)

AFTERWORD

All in all, Umineko is…big. its very very big. it has a huge cast (the final count comes out to like, almost 70 characters!) and a huge story. and huge feelings.

The manga and the VN are the main avenues of getting into it. It’s easier than it looks at a glance; and yet, more daunting than it seems…

If you have the time and energy to pour hours of your time into it, Umineko is a super worthwhile story that tackles genuinely difficult material with a delicate but honest hand.

It clowns up sometimes and stumbles over its own demographic–see: Weird Vaguely Unpleasant Anime-brand Sex Comedy that springs up a lot in EP1, some in EP2, and then largely disappears save for a few dumb jokes here and there–but overall is a solidly built and solidly delivered story about trauma, love, loss, and getting your family ritual-murdered by a thousand-year-old witch who may or may not be real.

ok so having played Two (2) danganronpa games (THH + DR2), watched One (1) anime adaption (the Despair/Future arcs) and being in the middle of a playthrough of Ultra Despair Girls i would like to share my personal top ten funney danganronpa moments with u all because this series is so fucking stupid and i hate it but its also one of my new favorite things ever. also this is a very spoiler heavy list so if u wanna get into it yourself scroll past this one lol

coming in at #10: "kamakura kamakura yass queen!": not actually that funny as a sentence but the fact that it was said during a scene that was supposed to have an ominous evil air about it is very funny to me, also i cant stop quoting it in response to things that have nothing to do with that scene. also tied here is junko and mukuro's debut scene in the despair arc anime where junko narrates everything thats happening in the moment and mukuro's like 'why are you doing this'

#9: any time a character who killed someone runs out of defenses/counter arguments in a class trial and just starts repeating the same word over and over while everyone else talks over them (because because because because because, its not fair not fair not fair notfairnotfairnotfairnotfair, stupid stupid stupid stupidstupidstupidstupid)

#8: the fact that the gameplay surrounding death investigations is so convoluted and prolonged even though me and my friend have guessed exactly who the culprit was in literally every case at least two real human non game hours before the person even gets mentioned as a potential suspect in-game

#7: the 'pervert' archetype character being the first to die in DR2 by getting deep fried in a volcano. that was therapeutic

#6: the music venue in DR2 being named "Titty Typhoon"

#5: gundam's talent being 'Ultimate Breeder' because he breeds animals but it almost always is mentioned in a way that really makes it sound like its Not About Breeding Animals

#4: monaca getting upset at pink haired girl in Ultra Despair Girls and punching her directly in the face like 80 times in a row while talking to her, also tied here is the fact that she Talks! Like! This! Out! Loud! When! She! Doesn't! Get! Exactly! What! She! Wants! AND the scene in the future arc anime where toko and komaru demand to know who the mastermind is and shes like 'ok i'll tell you' *farts*

#1: nagito komaeda's entire existence. dude is apparently the 'Ultimate Lucky Student' but somehow has managed to get early onset dementia, stabs himself in the stomach with a huge spear after tying himself down to the ground like hes crucifying himself, has a rotting hand that he looted from the main villain's corpse sewn onto his wrist and got jumped, kidnapped and turned into a personal servant by a gang of angry 8 year olds. he is by far my least favorite 'main' character but he is so fucking funny on the grounds that horrible shit keeps happening to him over and over and over out of nowhere. also the scene in the despair arc anime where hes like taking a lil shower under some cliff water and it shows his pasty butt for like 5 seconds made me laugh so hard that i thought i was gonna cry and the scene in Ultra Despair Girls where he walks into the main room of the evil toddler headquarters to bring them some appey juice but he made it wrong because his life is a joke so all the kids just start throwing cake and pies at him relentlessly while he just stands there covered in frosting and foam like this: 😄 is maybe my favorite scene of any piece of media ever i laughed so hard that i fell out of my chair and got lightheaded sobbing from laughter on the floor

How the Quarantine Affected Me

Hi there, reader slash blog visitor! We’re down to the last week of November and soon, it’ll be the Holiday season. I recently celebrated my birthday and I’ve seen people flock to malls. But as much as I delight in seeing ~some things~ go back to normal, it also bothers me how people seem to have forgotten that there is STILL a pandemic. Don’t get me wrong– I still want to celebrate Christmas, but in a safe manner. It also makes me anxious that people will be too comfortable “going out” as soon as the holiday rush sets in. How will Christmas in the #NewNormal be celebrated?

For today’s entry, (as seen in the title) I’ll be talking about how the quarantine affected me. I wanted to write this entry weeks ago, but I don’t think I’m in the right headspace to do so. So yeah, in this entry I’ll be listing down some of the changes that I have observed in me ever since the quarantine started more than 8 months ago. It’s so unlikely for the majority to be stuck at home and far from the old way of living that we all had. What’s even more saddening is that we don’t know when this will all end. *shrugs*

As soon as WHO declared ‘it’ as a global pandemic, classes in the local areas were initially suspended. I had a bad feeling about it and so I took home all of my teaching resources and started working on the quarterly exams and final grades. Eventually, the school year prematurely ended without a formal culmination – no graduation, year-end event, etc. The summer (which did not seem like an actual summer) began soon after and the quarantine protocols became stricter and stricter. It led to the temporary closure of establishments, loss of jobs, and sadly, the increase in the number of cases.

With that being said, let me give you my list of the changes this 9-month long quarantine has brought me.

The Quarantine Made Me Socially, Morally, and Politically Aware.

During the years prior, I had this constant discomfort with bad governance and ill-conceived policies. Once a law or a public servant steps over one or any of my values, I would feel the need to express my opinions but I would also be too afraid to stand up for it as some people may tell me that I’m too young to get involved. But now that I’m an adult and a teacher by profession, I feel the need to speak up – not only for me, but also for those who can’t speak for themselves. Furthermore, if I can amplify their voices and use my platform to raise awareness, I will.

I’ve been constantly disheartened by the things that happened while we were under a strict quarantine– workers lost jobs, people got arrested, businesses shut down, and frontliners got sick. It’s plain to see that the pandemic response of the country was derailed from the get go, and you can tell it by the lack of massive testing, insufficient contact tracing, and faulty protocols. Now, here we are– still stuck in our homes and the risk of getting sick is still there. The situation could have been better had we employed preventive measures– flight bans, medical solutions, and isolation among others. The elected officials owe the public a competent leadership and comprehensive plans.

The Quarantine Made Me Check My Privileges

Yes, you read it right! Talking about privileges, I, for one, did not come from an affluent background, but I have always had my needs in check– tuition fees, new clothes from time to time, 3 or more full meals per day, and a quite comfortable home. I may not have all the things I want, but I’m definitely privileged compared to other Filipinos who suffered severely since the lockdown started. I acknowledge that fact, so as soon as donation drives surfaced, I started donating small amounts to certain causes. If I can spend money on shopping and pricey drinks, I definitely have the money to support those who are in need.

With the recent typhoons that hit the country, I became very vocal on social media about how I support relief operations and donation drives. I may not be personally there to help, but I know I can still provide assistance from afar. Despite my efforts to support these causes, this does not mean that I did not experience financial difficulties during the ECQ. Just like what I said, the school year prematurely ended in March, but I believe we were supposed to work until the first week of April. I know that my struggle is nothing compared to what other people experienced, and that’s the reason why I’m using my privilege for good.

The Quarantine Made Me Process My Emotions and Assess My Mental Health

If you’re someone from my circle, you would know that I’m an escapist. I hate facing problems, addressing my emotions, and dealing with confrontations. It does not mean that I’m in denial of the problem, it’s just that I despise addressing them because what’s the point? People care but not enough to apologize or change the behavior that hurt me in the first place. Or at least that’s how I used to think. The quarantine helped me process my emotions and I went through some of the deepest scars that I used to cover up. It was liberating, but emotionally exhausting as well.

I’m still an escapist, but I use escaping for better reasons this time. I use it as a thinking time, a processing period for me to realize where I went wrong and how I want to solve situations. I have gotten over my “what if’s” and “could have been’s” over the lockdown. I’ve made peace with my past, and I’m currently dealing with what’s in front of me– my present demons. I needed that release, and the quarantine gave me sooo much time to do it. I must say that I’m handling things better, and even if I escape the situation, I come back with a definite solution in mind.

The Quarantine Made Me Decide that I’m Too Old for Some Things

TikTok? I don’t know her. HAHA! Let’s go to something light and quite positive this time. I know there have been A LOT of trends that came up when everyone was stuck at home, and I’m quite horrified by the things that people can do out of boredom. Oh well, most of friends have succumbed to the craze. Then, there’s me– the one untouched. HAHA! I just decided I’m too old to dance in front of my phone, take a video of myself, and share it on that app. Can I just say how hard I cringe at myself in videos? Ugh. #nevertried lol

The Quarantine Made Me Rest and Take a Break from the Old Normal Lifestyle

Quite frankly, I used to splurge a lot on food during the old normal, which I still do, but now it’s in moderation. Aside from that, I shopped regularly and buy unnecessary things to compensate for the times when I felt like I lacked in material things. Isn’t it so unhealthy? But how was I supposed to know at that time, when I was working so hard day and night, and the only thing that validates my hard work is when I see my hard earned money go somewhere? In this case, it goes into food and shopping items. *insert my friends’ constant advice for me to stop spending*

Looking at it now, the way I used to “live” was so unsustainable. A friend used to say, “You never know when the next economic crisis it going to happen.” And it just did, right at the start of the new decade that we were all looking forward to. It made me realize how valuable money is, and that it should be in places where it will grow in quantity and in value. But here I am, once again, circling back to the old lifestyle. I guess it’s me searching for a sense of normalcy and validation as I’ve been working from home for the past 4 months. All I can say this time is “send help.” *note sarcasm*

So there, this is where the list ends… for now. We’re still stuck in quarantine so I guess the list will go on until we fully win against this pandemic. I’ve been so busy lately that I didn’t even realize how near Christmas is. Well, the rush is slowly setting in, and the guidelines for the Christmas celebration for this year was already released a couple of days ago. Let me remind you to stay safe and vigilant all the time. Practice social distancing as much as you can and stay at home unless it’s for essential business. I know we are all craving for the usual Christmas celebrations like Simbang Gabi, Christmas carols, and parties.

But trust me, we’ll all have that when this is all over. For now, we’ll have to celebrate in the #NewNormal way. We may not be rejoicing in the same manner, but the reason to make merry is still the same. This may not be a good year for some, but there is something good and something to be thankful for if look enough to find them. Or actually, we don’t have to look elsewhere. The mere fact that we are still here, thriving despite being under challenging situations, is enough to be thankful for. Advance merry Christmas everyone and don’t forget to wear a mask!

getting excited about twrp’s new album, over the top! let’s goooo!!

first off, song impressions!

1. comin' atcha: LOVING the bass. the song reminds me of a raceway! didn't expect the little bits of talkbox and i also love the guitar

2. roll with it: the first word that comes to mind listening is uplift. guitar is what i noticed first here, but i really like the synth too... feels sparkly! really loving the lyrics. probably will be another one of those positive twrp songs i have on loop, just like life party!

3. somewhere out there: felt like kinda relaxed and vacationy at first, took a while into the song for me to get more into it (when the bass came in more lol 😳). another one of those positive twrp bops? dreamy space vibes to me. loving this guitar solo!

4. need each other: already heard this one! at first, i just liked the lyrics because i wasn't used to how heavy it was on the keys. but after reading an article on how the song came to be, i just fell in love with the song (and then even more after a re-listen!). it's different from what i'm used to, but no less wonderful! i've found myself singing parts of it absent-mindedly over the past few days.

6. black swan: before i'm listening i'm like "oh dang this song is 7 minutes long and has dan avidan singing", lmao. sounds like it's telling a story, similar to the way starlight brigade did :0 SUNG WITH THE "I CHALLENGE YOU" AND THEN THE GUITAR YOOO... 7. only the best: when i first heard this song on the twrp show, my eyes lit up and my mouth went so wide realizing that new twrp stuff was on the way... plus, it sounded awesome! i have lyrics written down from the first few times i listened to it, which is great bc i love the lyrics. really sweet song that makes me want to wave my arms around to it!

8. top secret: i was really excited to see andrew huang collabed on a track 👀 right now things sound like sneaking around, but make it groovy. did i hear a wah pedal :0?

overall impression? AWESOME! this was the first time i've witnessed a new album being released from one of my favorite bands. kinda have a similar thing going on next month for sure, too (which is going to be exciting again! though the experience will be a lot shorter than ~45 minutes lol.) and another one of my favorite band hads something leaked out (:'0) which probably means new stuff soon from them, which is exciting too. anyways! i think my favorite track rn off of here is roll with it or somewhere out there! i really can't wait to read all of the lyrics when the songs get transcribed. it only released an hour ago here! this excitement i'm feeling is great. things like this keep me feelin' good when stuff's hard with quarantine! plus, this is the first time i wrote so much without caring so much about what i’m writing. i’m just havin’ a good time here in this moment!

On Myspace, what was in the last bulletin you posted? I haven’t been on Myspace for well over a decade; and even when I was there I didn’t have any friends added nor did I remember ever posting anything. Friendster and Multiply were a lot more popular.

When and where was the last time you took a picture of yourself? I took a selfie last Saturday in the dining room. It’s of me holding up the vape pen that Andi lent me for the meantime to show Angela, since she wanted to see what it looked like.

Have you ever been scolded by a mall cop? I remember being lightly chided once when I was like, 7 – I was leaning on a glass wall of a store in the mall, so the guard from that store nicely told me to get back up to be safe. Overall, I don’t think I’ve ever exhibited behavior in public that should’ve gotten me into trouble.

How often do you catch yourself daydreaming? Definitely not so much these days. I need to keep being preoccupied with work or other things to do/accomplish since my daydreaming always seems to end with thinking of scenarios that now upset me, like, idk, happier times with my ex. I’m tired of letting that happen and always being upset in the end, so I try to avoid getting lost in my thoughts anymore.

What's your favorite thing to think about as you're falling asleep? Idk about you but thinking in general keeps my mind up and racing lol, so when I’m trying to sleep I do my best to black out my mind so that I can doze off.

Is there anything that you want to do, but won't because you're too afraid? So I went to college with this girl - I believe she’s several batches older - who, as soon as she graduated, set out on a hitchhiking journey across the world. She’s been doing it for four years, and I believe she has finally made it to Europe after being stuck in Kazakhstan for a year due to Covid. She’s amazing and her spirit is so fucking beautiful. She has a Facebook page that I actively follow detailing her experiences; but as great as her journey has been, I don’t know and I highly doubt that I can set out for such a demanding, commitment-heavy challenge myself.

Who was the last person to yell at you? My mom is the only person who does that, but she hasn’t done so in a while.

Who gets up the earliest in your household? The latest? My dad, since his work starts the earliest. I will sometimes hear the car engine purring by 5:45 AM. The latest would be my sister, since she stays up the latest as well. I think she’s up by 8 AM, but she doesn’t show up outside of her bedroom until 10 or 11.

Have you ever had a pet walk across your keyboard while you were typing? No, and I am glad that’s the case because both of my dogs are too big and I fear that they could actually snap my laptop in half.

What political issues do you think deserve less attention/worry? No political issue deserves any less attention than others. Political issues always mean that someone is on the losing end and I don’t think it’s fair to compare and decide which ones can be put on the backseat. 

Anyway, I do believe it’s not so much the issues that should be compared, but the people in politics who are given the spotlight. Here in the Philippines especially, a lot of celebrities want to have their own political careers (and usually win a seat) despite their zero experience and the media gobbles that shit up all the time, which is disgusting. Related to this, I hope the media makes a consicous effort to wipe Trump out of the headlines once he’s out of office.

Which political issues are you most passionate about? I dunno if I can measure that since I’m pretty vocal about a lot of things. What I can tell you is that in the political issues I have a say in, I always side with the marginalized and the oppressed. IPs, POC, LGBTQ+, immigrants, factory workers, jeepney drivers, contractualized employees, activists, student-activists...my heart has always been with them and their cause.

You're going to your favorite foreign country; what landmarks do you go see? I’m not sure if I have a favorite country, but I’m very picky about landmarks in general anyway. I’d rather experience the local life and eat at smaller local places and go to lesser-known beaches and stuff.

What is the longest amount of time that you have spent away from your home? A little longer than a week, and this was usually when I traveled abroad.

Did the last movie you watched have any emotional effect on you? Yeah, so much so that I was unable to finish it and I had to show up at dinner while still fresh from crying.

What motivates you to go to school? Not applicable to me anymore, but I suppose this can be easily rephrased to mean work. Honestly, my main motivation is the desire to have a perfect record at work lol. I’m super neurotic about this and I hate the idea of being absent or late. Money comes second; I rarely buy stuff for myself so I mostly don’t even realize the money coming in to my account every two weeks. Then third is the desire to be good at my job because I do want to get promoted and rack up more positions as I go along.

How much caffeine have you consumed in one day? The most cups of coffee I’ve had in one day is 3, and that was not an enjoyable experience ha. Right now, I’m on my first cup of coffee.

Are you more hyper and up-tight, or laid back and relaxed? I guess it depends on the situation. I can definitely exhibit either, but my behavior will vary based on the people I’m with and/or how comfortable I am in a certain situation.

When was the last time you heard someone talking about you? Around a week ago. My parents were having dinner separately and I heard my name being mentioned in a few sentences.

How did you pick out your last outfit? I wanted an outfit that was chill and easy to carry around, but would still make me look like I put some effort into picking it out.

When buying shoes, what do you look for in the product? I admittedly like brand names, so that’s the first thing I look at. I also like to keep up with what’s trending, so I look at items in a brand’s catalog that I see more and more people wearing. If it matches with my own personal style, then I keep an eye on it/purchase it altogether.

What happened to cause the last mess you made? The last and current mess I have on me is my work desk, which I’ve since abandoned in favor of my bed + portable desk as my new workspace. Idk, over the Christmas break I just ended up stacking up so much shit on the desk until it became a little too cluttered. I’ve cleaned it up here and there to make the space look neater, but there’s still a lot of stuff.

Are you embarrassed to bring people into your bedroom? Not embarrassed; I just find it unnecessary. My bedroom is too small to host guests and the only times I’ve let someone in there is when I had a significant other. I prefer people to stay in the living room.

When was the last children's birthday party you attended? It was my third cousin Isabella’s 7th birthday party at a Jollibee. Her family has been living in Australia for a while, but I guess they wanted to host a party with their Filipino family so they flew back here to stay for a few days. Because she is my third cousin and because she’s been living in Australia all her life, I don’t actually have any sort of relationship with her lmao but I still made an effort to greet her and stuff.

Are you good at reading other people's body language? Yes, to the point that it contributes to my overall anxiety.

If you're sick, do you go to school or do you stay home [usually]? I rarely get a fever so when I do it feels like actual death. For that reason, I usually have to skip the day and focus on feeling better.

Does chicken noodle soup really make you feel any better? I never had it whenever I’ve felt like crap in the past. I don’t really like soup though, so on a personal level I doubt it would have any effect on me.

What is one meal that you like to eat whilst sick? I don’t have a go-to meal because again, I rarely get sick.

Think of the last survey you filled out; did you enjoy it? Sure, it was easy to digest and it’s the kind that you can take over and over again.

Have you ever fed bread to ducks or geese? I’ve fed bread, but to fish in the sea; not ducks or geese since idk if we have either here other than in zoos. In our trip to Mactan in 2010, I remember how we were allowed to pay a certain small amount to get bread from the resort and proceed to feed the fish swimming around in the beach.

Is it hard to imagine you were ever as small as a 1-2 year old? Yeah, I definitely feel that way sometimes.

What set the tone for your mood today? Eh, I wouldn’t say I had an overall mood today, honestly. It was a normal day at work, maybe a little more uneventful than other days; and I was on top of my tasks so there wasn’t anything to dread or worry about. I was just concentrated on getting the day over with and wasn’t strongly attached to any emotion.

Have you ever set out to ruin someone else's day? I don’t think so.

Have you ever felt like the whole world was against you? It happens sometimes.

The name of the last video game you played? Mario Kart 8 probably? It’s been a while but it’s all I play if I do play a video game, so it’s a safe guess.

The name of the last board game that you played? We whipped out my old box of Trivial Pursuit last November when we didn’t have electricity and internet because of the typhoon.

What was the last thing that you told yourself? I don’t remember the last time I talked to myself, but like two minutes ago I was starting to feel sad so I silently reminded myself to think of positive things.

How many times a day do you wash your face? At least once, in the morning before I start work. I’ve learned that cleaning myself up, even if it’s just splashing water on my face, super helps if I want to start working in a good mood.

Do you remember your D.A.R.E. officer's name? I didn’t have one of those, anddd I’m sure we didn’t have that program here.

Someone throws hot coffee on you; how do you react? It’s taken me a whole goddamn week to finish this survey, lels. Anywho... I think out of instinct I would scream out in extreme agony first? And I’d probably spend the first immediate seconds to try and process what just happened. I don’t know if I would fight back because I’m pretty sure the burns would be hurting too badly for me to focus on revenge.

Is there a high school or college that you would rather be attending? I attended one school from kindergarten to college, and I can’t imagine having attended anywhere else. I had one dream university and I ended up attending it.

Have you ever lived in an apartment or duplex home? Yes, both. My parents lived in an apartment for a few months when I was a newborn. From ages 2-10 I lived in my childhood home, which is actually a duplex. The other house belongs to my grandpa’s late sister and her family.

Has anyone ever commented on your weight? Sure, but I care so little about my weight that they don’t really have an effect on me. The most common one I get is to “eat more.”

Where do you stand when it comes to sexual intercourse? Erm not really lmao. Just do it?? Idk. And just make sure consent is mutual and that you aren’t doing it out of pressure.

Name a show from the 90's that you miss? I guess ‘miss’ is the wrong word since I never watched it while it was ongoing, but I do love Friends. I’m excited to see what they have planned for the reunion episode.

Who provokes your sarcastic side the most? Bad co-workers, but luckily I haven’t had to pull that side of me in a while.

Have you ever thought about joining the military? Never.

When you were little, did you ever stare at disabled or "different" people? Being a kid, I probably did but never thought anything of it during those times. My mom certainly would’ve whooped my ass if I tried to comment anything mean or be a smartass.

Could the contents of your bedroom get you in any trouble? The one thing that would piss my mom off are my vape pens. I still have Gab-related stuff in my room that I’m too lazy to throw out, but I doubt I will get into trouble from those anymore because there has been no relationship to speak of in the last four months.

Do weather patterns sometimes have an effect on your health? Not on my health, but on my mood.

If it snows a lot where you live, do you experience cabin fever? It doesn’t, so idk what this would feel like.

When was the last time someone disapproved of something you were doing? Not entirely sure; this hasn’t happened in a while. Admittedly, as a people pleaser, I thrive on doing what people would want me to do lol.

How good are you at getting along with other people? On a scale of 1 to 10, probably a 9? I’m super nice to everyone and in the end it only really boils down to whether I have chemistry with them or not. If I fail to feel comfortable around someone I’m more likely to stay formal, but I do try to be lively and crack jokes with everyone as much as I can.

Do you consider yourself to be approachable? I want to be and I always try to come off as such, but my resting bitchface hurts that chance sometimes haha.

Do you know anyone that's a little emotionally unstable? Uhm, no one comes to mind.

Has anyone ever suggested that you might need "help"? I don’t recall being told this by anyone before. But with the way I broadcast my anxiety and sadness from time to time, I’m sure people have thought of it.

Do you like to give people a taste of their own medicine? It’s such a waste of time and energy for the most part, so no. But if I feel petty, I have no problem doing it.

How was the service at the last restaurant you visited? It was...fine. Nothing to write home about. It was unlimited Korean barbecue and they actually had a system in place where they gave us a link to some internal website they kept, and we could simply order from there to minimize contact with the servers. I will say that I never got the kimchi jjigae I had ordered, but it was fine because I was full by then lmao.

Are you ever jealous of happy couples? No. I mean, I guess I’m reminded of my loneliness when I see couples in public, but I don’t get jealous or angry. I just shake it off and try to focus on myself.

Describe a thought that is sticking with you today? That I can’t wait for Friday.

Lately, who has spent the most time on your mind? I’ve been thinking more of my anxieties than certain people, tbh.

In a car: air conditioning, or roll the windows down? Air conditioning. Though sometimes it’s nice to have the windows down, especially when I’m driving within my village or up a mountain.

Is there a new song or band you've discovered? Massive Attack. Hayley Williams did a super great cover of their song Teardrop, so I checked out the original version which I also ended up enjoying. Olivia Rodrigo too, who I found out is part Filipino yay!

Which teacher gives you the most homework? My Journalism Ethics professor will probably rank the highest on this list.

What type of personality do you find most annoying? Idk, condescending ones maybe? There are a million kinds of personalities lol, but yeah I hate those who make you feel dumb, and feel good about doing so.

How did you hear about Bzoink? If my memory serves me correctly, my 10 year old self just wanted empty about me surveys to answer. Bzoink was always one of the first websites to come out if I searched for surveys on Google.

Arrived in Malaysia! Soo...... I wasn’t going to tell stories on here this time - but we just had a very interesting flight! I remember why I like writing everything down on here - because otherwise I forget when I get home. We boarded at 12noon and about 30mins after takeoff it was time for lunch! 🙌🏼 After we picked a couple of delicious onboard Malaysian meals, we were told that we couldn’t use our debit cards to pay.....only credit! - We didn’t have a credit card and no cash with us - therefore AIRASIA were going to let us starve!!! THEN....Mohan, a beautiful 75 year old Nepalese man sitting next to us insisted he would pay for our lunch.... Out of an 8.5hr flight I slept for an hour! We chatted for about 7.5 hours....! Fasted international flight I think I’ve ever been on! He ran 3 businesses between Australia and Nepal... photography and a personal travel company and owned 16 shop spaces in Kathmandu which paid him a comfortable salary. He lived in Canberra, moving to Merewether next year.... had 4 kids - 1 dentist, 1 dental surgeon, 1 Lawyer/ Human Rights Law - head of the UN in Samalia but living and working out of Denmark and a Doctor... oh and his wife was a doctor too! They owned property in Nepal, Kathmandu, London, Kensington, Bondi, Canberra and soon to be Merewether. He told us that he had managed financial freedom at a young age so that he could travel the world (as a job - taking groups with similar likes on trekking adventures) and enjoy life without feeling stressed... he was the only person in his family and group of friends that what he said ‘wasn’t smart’ or hadn’t studied but he insisted he was the happiest because he never looked at what he did as ‘work’. I don’t really know how to write this 7hour chat down... but we won’t forget it! He said he loved to give advice but not to be told what to do! So Ric and I asked him for some.... the points that stood out were; Read these with a thick Nepalese (kinda sounded like an Italian/Indian) accent. 1. Start a family as soon as possible, the older you get the quicker you will run out of energy for your children. This will be be most enjoyable years of your entire life (until they are 13) 2. Work out why money is important to you - if you are earning money to blow it on luxury holidays and fancy cars you will in fact never have financial freedom. 3. Don’t ‘worry’ about money 4. Always make a 60/60 deal (rics business) - make sure you are making good money but make sure the client feels they are getting more than what they’re paying for. 5. When you get to a point where you are comfortable with money don’t loose the value of it. (Eg. his words not mine “I am rich, however, I needed to get from Canberra to Sydney last minute and it was going to cost $400 for a flight... so I caught the train for $50. I have the money but I don’t want to waste it”). 6. Trust each other - you need to be each other’s biggest support. Times will get tough stand close. 7. Work for yourself!!! You will never feel freedom working for a boss! 8. Open your mind to new ideas 9. Steer clear of negativity! 10. Enjoy your life 😃 I realise these are all slightly cliche but when a very happy and wise 75 year old man says it... you listen... and it sticks! We also talked other things - he wanted to know about what we did for work and we showed photos of the Reno’s - although very different to his life, he was interested. We talked about how we were from a family of tradies - in which he said ‘I love the sound of this... people who work with their hands... hard working, down to earth people’. He was also intrigued by Ric’s face - as soon as he paid for our meals, before we even started talking he looked at Ric and said ‘you have the most honest face I have ever seen - I would bet my last dollar on you’ and he would often stop mid sentence of the advice talks and say ‘my god, this mans face - it’s just so honest’. He also asked me how I’d managed to keep women away from him! Lol. I think he liked me too? Lol. He did keep saying how it was the best flight he has had in years and that he hopes to see us again (although he did drink 6 glasses of red wine).... but while admiring Ric’s face.... his main comment to me was ‘I feel like you like to plan everything and like to be be in control......’ hahaha! Spot on Mohan! So amongst all the chatting (keep in mind this was all very uplifting and positive) we had a Canberra Rugby Union Team full of big islanders and Aussies that would occasionally come up to us (we were in a 3 seater in front of the exit so we had about 1.5 metres in front of us where they would come and stretch their legs! We kinda made friends with 2 of them - there was Ben who was 22, young, fresh and confident... told us pretty much everything about himself — played sport since he was 6, always ended up in rep, plays good softball, baseball, cricket, going to play Union against KL, manger of a gym, had a Mrs, and they were pretty serious, had knee surgery, was hungry, had a traditional Mauri tattoo, ate a maccas family box before the flight and packed some budgee smugglers for the Union after party! Lol. There was also a more conservative guy - not sure his name - he was a school teacher and he stretched every muscle in his entire body in front of us !! 8.5 hours later we arrived in Malaysia! ......and drove through what seemed like a typhoon on the 1hr trip to the hotel!

Today, Before work, I went to the TV Asahi Summer Festival with my sister~

Of course, for a reason......

The Kasouken no Onna Cafe - clap clap

This time, there are really a lot of things on the menu related to "Kasouken no Onna", So much that I was distracted...... :) :O :O

I shared a "DNA Side" with my sister, And I drank a "Houjicha Latte" which had the catchphrase, "science doesn't lie" printed on it!!

After all, I was like, I have to eat the "DNA Side"! It was volumey and delicious <3

For the "Houjicha Latter", more than the flavour, I chose it because I saw the words printed on it...... lol I was happy that it also came with the candy "iroha ni bonbon" which appears in the drama!! As a fan of "Kasouken no Onna" I wanted to try the souvenirs that Hazuki-sensei had someday...... <3 <3

On top of that, a coaster when you order a latte was also included!!!

I was really happy~ <3 When I saw was came with a latte, I was excited to drink one~ It's fun that just by seeing the latte, it reminds me of the episode it's from!! <3

After going to the cafe, my sister had to go to work, so we separated, And I had fun Looking at the Pretty Cure and Sailor Moon goods and checking the gacha at the TV Asahi shop

Today, in the evening, BEYOOOOONDS will be appearing on "Today's One Day Hello Pro Spree" On NHK Radio!!!

At 8:30pm, talking about Hello! Project on the radio...... It's too wonderful...... T_T T_T T_T All of these songs are my favourite songs, and I think that I'll feel the long history of Hello! Project once again......!

And, I'm really, really happy that BEYOOOOONDS' "Nippon no DNA!" is also in that :'( A show about the history of the Hello! Project choreography, the day my voice is in it has come...

I think that it's a really happy thing!

There were also a lot of wonderful words from Hoshibe Shou-san and Michishige Sayumi-san... T_T *

I'll remember it many times from now on, and I think that it'll give me the power to move forward. Truly, thank you very mcuh!!

Tomorrow, We have performances of Hello! Project 2019 SUMMER "beautiful" In Hokkaido!

When she's changing her lipstick, or using green eyeshadow or mascara, It's cute how she shows me while saying, "look, look!!" It makes me happy when she asks me about how to move for the choreography, or the formation, like "would this be okay here? Does this match?" When I was practicing my solo part in the play, She called out to me like, "that's the sound!" "If it's okay, I can listen!" And I was really thankful, She's kind, cool, she does her best, and she's a little spacey...... I love that Honoka <3

Jam-packed week!!!

Gonna be busy on Thursday until Friday aside from studying. hahahaha. My college friends and I will have a sleep over bonding at one of our close friend’s house. It has been our tradition for 5 years to do some weekend sleepovers and  movie marathons. How I wish Eunice is here in the Philippines so the gang would be complete.

On Friday, one of my long time Korean friends will visit Manila from Baguio City. He will be traveling for 8 hours via Bus just to meet me. He just messaged me today If I am available to have lunch with him. He said he will introduce some Korean foods to me. hahaha.

On the other hand, weekends will be my Study day. It seems that I have been slacking off these past few days because of the bad weather. lol. I wish that there would be no typhoons coming though. I remember that whenever I celebrate my birthday in October, There’s always a typhoon coming. Sigh.
