Types of wall cracks that should never be ignored
A crack in the wall is just another pain in your eyes. A crack in your wall might be a warning signal that the home needs serious repair. However, the damage doesn't need to be serious. Some cracks are harmless and can easily be repaired, while some are hazardous and needs immediate inspection by a professional. In this article, you will get an idea about different types of cracks that you should never ignore.
Vertical cracks
Vertical cracks are the most common type of cracks and are often considered less serious. Vertical cracks often happen due to shrinkage during the curing process. If a vertical crack appears, it is essential to monitor the size of the crack. If you notice that the size of the cracks is getting wider, it means you need to contact a professional to inspect your wall or probably the whole area to get an idea of what to repair and what not to do. On the other hand, if the size of the cracks is not increasing, then there is nothing to worry about. It will only require a small patch repair.
2. Diagonal cracks
Diagonal cracks are the type of cracks that should never be ignored. Diagonal cracks develop in the beam or on the corner of a wall. In most cases, these cracks occur due to the shifting of the foundation. You can fix the diagonal cracks by filling the gap using a quality patching compound or proper Portland concrete. Then, apply flexible sealant along the edges of the crack. Lastly, paint and texture the area to match the rest of the wall. Please make sure to use high-quality products while fixing these cracks and make sure they don't reappear in the future. If it reappears, it would be better to contact a professional inspector immediately. It's essential to closely monitor and repair these kinds of cracks promptly.
3. Stair Step Cracks
Another type of crack that appears on the corner of the wall is quite dangerous and should never be ignored. These cracks are 10 to 15 cm long, which is a clear indication of the shifting of the foundation. Many foundations have the problem of water seepage. The water weakens the wall over time and finally forms cracks. If the walls do not dry out quickly, stair-step cracks can form. You need to contact a structural engineer or a professional to fix this problem. Note that it is not recommended to fix this issue all by yourself as it can lead to further damage if not done correctly. It is best to hire a professional to avoid further damage.
4. Radial Cracks
Radial crack is one of the worst types of cracks. These cracks appear on the corner of the walls in a circular pattern and indicate the wider spread of moisture problem. These cracks often get unnoticed until serious damage occurs. These cracks are caused by poor construction techniques. So it is essential to maintain a proper construction technique, such as a proper water-cement ratio. To fix the radial cracks, you may need to install a proper drainage system, repoint brickwork, or replace the brick. However, it is best to have a professional inspect the walls to determine the exact cause and recommended course of action.
5. Bulging Walls
Bulging walls typically state that the wall is bulging outward from its foundation. A bulging wall is a sign of a more serious soil or structural issue and mostly happens due to inadequate drain systems, soil infiltration heavy rainfall, or organized tree roots. Failure to address the bulging wall leads to structural damage, further water infiltration, and even total collapse of the walls.
It is important to note that wall cracks are often an indication that something is wrong with the foundation. If wall cracks are found and are not addressed promptly and completely, it could lead to more severe problems. So if you ever spot a crack in the wall, be sure to schedule an inspection with a contractor to determine the cause and extent of the damage.
Other problems such as water infiltration, faulty construction or settling soil can also cause wall cracks. Therefore, it is important to inspect walls regularly to determine the cause and consider any necessary repairs. If the cracks become extensive and costly, it is important to communicate with your contractor or engineer and reach an agreement on the best solutions to remedy the situation.
It can be tempting to ignore wall cracks, but this could lead to bigger problems in the future. Therefore, it is important to address any signs of structural damage on your walls and immediately take necessary action.

i tend to forget about it in the bustle of the Everything Else going on with the horns/hexes arc but the filming the ad for the school website bit is such an underrated gem
amber doing full on sunset boulevard norma desmond LARP. fabian vaguely scared when she pats him on the shoulder mid-take
fabian not being able to remember his âlinesâ about amber not being able to remember her lines so he reads it off his hand and no one comments
joy was born to be a director. her girltech ass headset. give her a movie deal NOW
palpable sense that somebody involved in the conception of this scene is using it to cope with longstanding and unresolved beef with an overbearing producer they've had to deal with in the past
every time mr sweet echoes a call before joy finishes saying it. the completely uncalled for simon cowell impression. joy fighting so hard to keep her mouth closed for the sake of the take. oh my god
like i cannot stress this enough it gets Three bullet points: if he wanted to 1st AD so bad he could at least throw out a QUIET ON SET but he canât even do that right because Heâs The Only One Talking
there are THREE (3) microphones present for ONE (1) source of sound: a shotgun mic on the camera, the boom (not hooked up to a mixer.), and this random ass standard stage mic just hanging around by one of the desks?? if all of those are hooked up directly to the camera...lord have mercy on whoever has to mix that mess
SHOPPING CART DOLLY (this is by far the most realistic detail. when i was in film school and no one wanted to drag one of the real dollies out of storage we'd push the cameraperson around in an old wheelchair)
when you take the previous two points in conjunction: the shopping cart is going to RUIN their audio. i don't think even wd-40 could save them. forget eddie's bodycount -- whoever got stuck on post-production for this mess is going to clear his record no problem
no additional lights. not even a lamp. you get whatever meager natural light comes through the windows (worst angle possible for it, too) and an overhead fixture that will no doubt look like hell in post especially because of the camera they're using (insult to injury to the post guy). SPEAKING OF THE CAMERA:
not only am i obsessed with it being a (completely appropriate for the time) digital video camera that probably records to magnetic tape but they actually bothered to hook it up to a monitor for real and show the live output as a nice tiny detail but...oh man.......that monitor.................sure provides...............information.......................
#house of anubis#hoa#scenes that are thinly veiled cracks at the filmmaking process itself are my absolute favorite type of meta joke esp when its done like thi#ie no fourth wall breaks all shenanigans and equal measure love and spite#i also shot a capstone project on a very similar camera and still have the original tape <3 huge soft spot for Old Equipment

M*uthwashing was good, the only things i didn't enjoy lie in the area of writing (but so do some things i enjoyed the most!) - but I expected more from it? kinda?
#putting this into tags because spoilers ->#like ok let me get this out of the way. the only woman on the crew is the doctor and has problems related to pregnancy. groundbreaking.#but i have no problems with the rest of the cast. swansea's monologue was top notch#and you can see that everyone loved the cast because 90% of posts in the tags is JIMMY MUST DIE#so whatever.#my biggest gripe is that one delusional asshole is basically the root of all evil in the story#it makes the story not about how people deal with a horrific situation but about one man ruining everyone's lives. that seems flatter to me#so up until The Reveal the game is stellar to me#it would be so much tastier to me if it was curly after all. life sucks so much for everyone that the captain#decides to commit murder suicide - and then doesn't even die and condemns them all to a slow painful death#but instead it's ''a violent man with inferiority issues cracks under pressure and betrays everyone'' which. okay now that i've typed it out#doesn't sound too boring but still#my commentary#also since i'm here#watched another small sci-fi game about an au soviet 70s? space station manned by an AI and it reminded me how much i love sci fi#it's a 2001 a space odyssey-inspired game where you are woken up from cryogenic sleep on a space station#but it turns out that the station ai used alien mold to clone you and your coworker and thus circumvent the 3d(?) law of robotics#because neither of you is strictly speaking human anymore#the point was that the ai was like a child (and the mc who is a female psychologist in charge of working with the ai who had developed this#kinda mother-daughter relationship with the ai OF COURSE#anyway aside from the visuals and vibes/design the game is mid#but it made me crave a story where the ai is a child simply because it is easier to make a simpler ai and then to teach it instead of making#a full grown human-like intelligence#but then it does behave like a child. make a mess on accident and does its best to hide it. a staff member dies and it clones them to fix it#a chain of unfortunate events that happen only because this god child put in charge of the station wants its caretakers to not be upset#that would be mwah#i will need to check this wall fo text for spelling when i get home!

It took me, ugh, MONTHS (2), to get to cleaning the two shrimp tanks I have... I had IRL issues going on that would have made it extremely difficult to do a water change especially while injured, and I just had to keep putting it off. It's just shrimp, so it wasn't like, the worst situation, especially since I have established plants and the tanks are a couple years old. There was just a lot of algae build-up on the glass, and, well... Let me just say it was not contributing to my mental health and well-being while the tanks were in that state.
I tested the water before I started cleaning and the parameters were fine (like, I could have left the tanks even longer if I would be okay with selling my soul to the Algae Collective), and the plants and shrimp look fine, too (I mean, I've obviously been keeping an eye on the tanks bc I sit right next to them). Actually, I'd wager to say that the plants are looking really great (the lilies haven't died off [yet? This is the longest period of time I've seen them stay... foliage... fol... foliated? Idk.] and the cryptocoryne in the 10gal is fucking huge and needs to be rearranged, just not right now). That fucking algae was a motherfucker to get off the 10gal (it's a plastic tank and I think that makes the algae grip harder than the glass 5gal).
[Also, fyi, depending on the tank's needs and stability, recommended water changes are a small one every week or every other week. My parameters don't seem to do anything dramatic, so I usually aim for a 20-30% water change every third week (just depends on how much vacuuming needs to be done and how cooperative the shrimp are with moving aside). So 2 months is still a lot. I still did the normal 30% ish amount, since doing more will risk the shrimp's well-being if there's a sudden change in everything, and my water parameters indicated a change was unnecessary - but I don't test for more than the minimum freshwater tests, so there could be a buildup of some mineral I'm not testing for, which is why the change IS actually necessary regardless of what my test kit says - because these tanks were evaporating a lot in summer, it condenses the minerals added with each water addition, even tho I usually top up with R.O. water.]
My back is fucking killing me lol. It has been killing me since spring when it 'went out' for the first time, and I'm not getting any relief, it sucks. But this had to be done.
The 5gal is looking pretty cloudy still, since the filter was super gunked up and I accidentally spilled gunk back in, so I may need to retest the 5gal parameters tomorrow just to make sure I don't have to do another water change, but it'll probably be fine, right? Shrimp love mulm and detritus. I did give both tanks a big ole algae tab for their trouble, tho. (I need a fuckening dish for the big tank. I really wanna clean off that white quartz rock again, but being white means it's an algae magnet, and it's just gonna go green again after a month or two.)
Anyway, shrimp tax:
I lov thees widdle oange bebies.
Wish I could take better pictures rn, but I am. Like. Dying. My recommendation: never live in an A-frame style room if you have the option. The wall above my tanks is slanted, and NOT fun for my back to bend underneath the wall for maintenance. (My only flat wall in the room is for my TV/PC.) Also, treat your back nicely, in general. I unfortunately have not had the option to treat my back nicely since spring (fall now), because 'when it rains it pours,' and heavy shit that needs to be moved will not move itself. Once I get a few more things in my room in order, I will hopefully be done with the IRL chaos, bc I have Halloween socks to knit, and I'm not putting that off for another year. (I'm still mad that I couldn't make the ones I planned last year. And I found more Halloween yarn I forgot I bought, so I'm gonna try to make multiple socks.) And I just really need to fucking chill and knit and stop having panic attacks and meltdowns.
#me earlier today: oh i should bleach my hair since i havent been able to shower for 2 days it wont damage it as much#me now: i dont know if i can even stand long enough to shower after this#anyway im gonna try to eat something and then shower and pass tf out.#maybe i shouldve taken a before picture to show how much i did...#...but i do Not want to remember 'that one time i didnt do a water change for 2 months' the algae was gross lol i couldnt even get it all#but honestly idc ab the back wall having algae as long as the front and most of the sides are clear#seriously the algae was textured like sandpaper tho. does algae do pearling? if it does then its calcium buildup too#edit while typing bc i looked it up. yes algae pearls. so the bubbles it was making were drying enough to cause calcium deposits#oH also lmao i found the tiniest pinch of hornwort left in the 10gal. idk why the hornwort doesnt like that tank but its hilarious that...#...that one little fingernail sized piece is still alive floating in there. i stuck it next to the lily but the shrimp will prob dislodge it#the hornwort in the 5gal is just freefloating i cant get that shit to stick#the shrimp love that stuff and they look like little birds in a pine tree#im in so much pain im procrastinating food lmao 'order pizza' crossed my mind but my jaw wont let me eat pizza so fml#anyway. just wanted to show an accomplishment even if its not a praise worthy one since i didnt go the extra 10 miles to water change sooner#awwww tho i love seeing them glide around the tank and now i can see them clearly its so chill#shrimp#aquariums#crustaceans#bugs#Cori.exe#Post.exe#Image.exe#also my therapist started cracking up this morning when i said like 'i can finally rest now tht i dont have a Saw trap bathroom to navigate'#seriously tho it was bad and then another issue in the bathroom came up 2 days ago but theyre both fixed now. my br is normal now.#im not normal tho (normal for myself i mean) and unfortunately thats not gonna be an easy fix but im trying#man can i ever make a post where i dont type a million words lmao. inability to focus and then i start typing more stuff#oh ab the hair bleach man my roots are so dark i just trimmed off the last of the bleach from last time so i got 2tone hair rn#idk when ill get to that. dependsnon my back. i already wasnt in a great state of being when i did the aquariums but i needed to clean them#ok i rly need to try n make food and shower before i start growing algae on myself

some sort of au where mtt are like famed serial killers in some random ass city or whatever idk but dust's got a little gaming theme going on because of his whole LV and EXP thing and his name is serial number. because. because its a play on words. serial. SERIAL killer. number. like like numbers that need to increase for better stats. and he could go after people in games that have the highest lvl or whatever because serial numbers are "unique identifiers used to identify an item usually assigned sequentially or incrementally." like. like. incrementally like the increment of video game exp or something WHATEVER THE IDEA IS THERE OKAY THE IDEA IS THERE
#i came up with this in the shower#like actually. staring at a bathroom wall thinking gaming themes serial killer dust's name would be serial number#im laughing at the totally stupid name because its just so dumb and such a stupid pun#i dont know the first thing about serial killers but i do know they have names! and guess who's a serial killer..... MY MTT!!!!#serial number..... heheheeh what a dumb fucking name#but also like no matter how stupud it is it makes sense ngl.... DOES IT NOT??????#i dont know how to explain this. obviously as seen in post. but just like. the idea is there ok#me thinking of that royale high player that's been number one for like 4 years while coming up with this#because thats the only number 1 player i know at all#i love gaming themes for dust i think he deserves to be 8bit ified#what type of character mentions exp and lv and someone DOESN'T capitalize on that hello#you will not catch me making this an actual au or smth but i just had this funny silly idea#thinking about that mtt varient again where killer's entire head is made of dt#and dust' body is made of dust. and horror has monstrously long fingers and ribs#and his head was fully cracked on the top and the eye just sat in his skull like a candy in a halloween candy bowl#SOclever.... clever character designs....m.... ngl theyr not thst clever..... but i like tjem.............#killer's body fucking explodes and then the dt just takes it place because he has not died yet ahh#tricule rant

Pls,,, I live in an area with a lot of yellowjackets and they're actually really chill, as long as you aren't very clearly going out of your way to hurt them. They also learn your face over time so after a while they'll stop buzzing around your face, but even then they're just investigating! They're also really important pest control and help keep certain bug populations from destroying everything.
I adore them with all of my heart and I will not stand for this slander
Yknow what, I actually agree with you - to a degree!!! Listen, they absolutely *are* dickheads and I stand by that purely bc yellowjackets, unlike "true" wasps, are known for stinging without being provoked (and *their* stings, as opposed to other wasps etc, are more likely to cause serious side effects). That being said, they are incredibly impressive creatures who contribute a huge amount to not only pollination but also to attracting other wildlife such as Jays (circle of life n all that) while controlling other insects that cause mass destruction - like aphids!
On that point though, decimating local beehives - especially that of small scissor bees and mason bees - is one of their specialities (and as an avid lover of bees, that breaks my heart âčïž)
If money wasn't an issue, if the house I lived in was my own and not a rental, and if I didn't live with my flatmate who's hella allergic to them and my dog who tries to eat them bc she's dumb, I'd absolutely set up a space for them near me that they can have free reign over. But, they're responsible for a huge decrease in the local bee population (whether that be wasps directly invading their hives/wiping them out or people killing bees *thinking* they're wasps), and also - they're eating through my walls and it's causing a LOT of issues đ
I like wasps from a distance!! Their nests are awesome and the way they function as a creature is cool as fuck both structurally and materially [those bitches recycle!! Good for them] But also, THEY'RE IN MY WALLS AND THEY DON'T PAY RENT AND I'M THE DESIGNATED INSECT RELOCATOR IN MY HOUSEHOLD WHICH MEANS I'M THE ONE THAT KEEPS HAVING TO RESCUE MY BF/FLATMATE/DOG, AND I CAN'T SLEEP WITH THE NOISE THEY'RE MAKING AND THEY'RE CAUSING DAMP IN OUR HOUSE AND ONE STUNG ME ON THE TOE THIS MORNING WHILE I WAS HAVIGN A PISS ANDI WAS NOWHERE NEAR THE BASTARD SO THEY'RE COOL BUT THEY'RE DICKHEADS đđđđđ
[also to anyone that's reading them - pretty much all insects and animals have dickhead tendencies, that doesn't mean kill 'em for it!!! Figure out ways to safely (both to you and your environment) relocate them!]
#also the âexterminatorâ who's coming isn't actually an exterminator#he's got a masters in environmentalism with a speciality in pest control#and all his equipment is both environmentally sound AND acts as a deterrent rather than decimation!#he's coming over today to smoke the wasps out and also uses this obscenely smelly citrussy type essential oil that they absolutely despise#and then and when he's done that a few times/ensure the wasps have relocated he's gonna seal the crevices and cracks in our walls for us#which makes me v happy bc I'm not one for murking insects lmao

SATORU'S FAVORITE TYPE OF DAY-STARTER!!
Morning sex, prone bone, creampie, degradation n praise. Not proofread
âŒâË· à„
The morning ray of warm sunlight slowly filters through the curtains, casting a golden glowâgently filling the room. It was early in the morning but also timely enough for the sweet melodic chirps of the morning birds to be heard outside. You and your boyfriend Satoru had the day off from your sorcerer jobs so everything was so comforting and peaceful...
Except for the nasty, lewd sounds of your rippling ass slapping against his pelvisâindicating just how deep he was diving his cock into your slippery pussy with ease, drenching the white sheets below, where the two of you were connected.
He was straddling your thighs from behind as his passionate thrusts echoed throughout the room.
Each deep, rhythmic stroke caused waves of pleasure to cascade through every inch of your being. His snowy-white huffs of pubic hair brushing tenderly against your sensitive folds and swollen clit in a dance of ecstasy.
His hands gripping your waist firmly as he delved deeper into your warm, inviting core.
âFuck you're such a horny little slut, Sweetheart. Didn't I already fucked you good last night? But that just wasn't enough, was it? Always desperate for some cockâ he snickers mockingly, as he taunts you with a smirk. Blindfolded eyes infatuated with the cadency of his flushed cock disappearing into your warm, plushy walls every other second, following the rhythm of his thrusts.
You whimpered pathetically to his degrading commentary, the sound of your distress from his bullying blending with the rustling of the sheets beneath you as you gripped it for dear life.
âMmm, Satoru! soo gooddd, y-youâre soo d-eep fuck!â you cried out, feeling nothing but pleasure consuming you as drool steeps out of your mouthâdamping the soft pillow beneath. His angry, mushroom head jabs your g-spot over and over making you arch your back uncontrollably. His thick cock already stretching your pussy open in the mere crack of dawn.
âYeah? My cock making you feel good sweetheart?â he chuckles, playfully swatting your cheeks, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he lets out a toothy grin watching how it bounces back against him when he sinks his swollen cock into you. âShitâyesyesyes, Sat-toruuu rub my clit, please! Fuckkâ you cried out, your urgent plea driving him wild as you grind your hips back into him hastily, your twitching little pussy tainting his cock with your runny slick as you see stars.
He grins, moving his fingers down to pinch and rub teasing circles on the sensitive bud, âSeriously? Your pussy is gonna cream on me already? What a filthy whoreâ he chuckles, heading falling back lazily as the sunlight illuminates his flawless skin. âWas expecting a little more than that but I know how fucking crazy this hungry pussy gets when I'm balls deep, stuffing it fullâ, he jests with a hint of satisfaction, his laughter echoing around you.
He pressed a hand firmly against your lower back, pressing it downârestricting all your movements as he readjusts the position. His tall figure now looming over you, both hands on each of your sides of your body, trapping you in as you moaned out like dumb slut. Each forceful thrust pushes his rigid length to the brink, feeling his cock ramming deeper and deeper inside your gushing cunt, to the point where his angry tip is nudging against your cervixâmaking your eyes roll back, one thing about Satoru was that heâs a literal beast when it comes to fucking you, he does it like his whole life depended on it.
You were on the verge of reaching climax and all it took was to hear your boyfriendâs hot, guttural moanâone that ignited your already frenzied lust, the loudest one since you two began fucking to have your greedy, stretched cunt to pulsate and spasm uncontrollably, releasing all over his pretty, flushed cock. Your moans melded with the fabric of the pillow as your fingers clenched the headboard in a desperate attempt to anchor yourself as you felt your cum dribbling out of your cunt and down your thighsâit was so messy.
âOhhh fuck yeah, thatâs it, baby, thatttâs itâ he groans out with a smirk, feeling your sticky cream coating his length. His eyes dancing mischievously as he observed the wet patch forming on the pillow beneath your head from your drooling.
You cried out, eyes peering open as he kept fucking your soppy pussy.
Rings, and rings of glistening cum decorating the base of his cock sinfully. A loud whimper escaped your lips as you felt the relentless stimulation of your pussy used by him even after your orgasm. He laughs at your sudden reaction. âAww sweetheart, you didnât think you'll get to cum but I wonât, did you? Such a greedy whore, only thinking about yourself and this greedy, fucking pussyâ heâs so amused by you, his bullying cock abusing your poor used cunt, his balls strucking your clit with vigor, making it so much more intense. âOh, myâfuckk!â You hiccuped, feeling your soul levitating from your body as his eager cock molds your pussy to shape his cock.
âThis pussy is so fucking good, God youâre so perfectâ he smiles widely from the pure pleasure of your wet pussy, and a warm flutter settled in his stomach as you took his pounding. His rigged breath made you so dizzy as his thick veins dragged along the insides of your cunt. âYou like me stuffing this pussy baby?, like getting your brains fucked out by my cock?â He babbles out, on the verge of losing his mind as he chases his release.
âYes! Yes! Ohmygodddâ you screamed, both of your legs flailing behind you as he was drilling impossibly fucking deep inside of you, he was so loud, moaning just inches from your ears, making your pussy flutter over and over hearing your boyfriend making such lewd unabashed noises. One thing about Satoru was that he was never embarrassed or cared when it came to being vocal in bedâsometimes heâs even louder than you. You could feel the veins of his cock twitching against your walls as he fucks your cervix like a feral beast.
âFuckohfuck!â his head falls back as he takes a deep breath. âGon-na cum, fuck! Gonna creampie this little pussy and stuff it for with my seedâ he bites his lip, thrusting himself into you relentlessly as his hips stuttered and abs flexed against you.
His jaw fell open in a silent scream while his eyes rolled back as he emptied his essence inside of you, groaning loudly, feeling your pussy sucking the warm cum greedily out of his shaft. His body collapses onto yours, making you mewl in pain as you adjust to his heavyweight. He wrapped both of his arms around your neck to lift your head up as he moved closer to your faceâhe lazily licked a stripe of your jawline as his eyes fluttered to stay open.
âGood morninggg, Beautifulâ his deep voice mumbled to you with a fucked out smile.

who to call to clean up after an "accident" than your sick and twisted military boyfriend? :D (dark!ghost x dark!fem!reader, 18+)
cw: dark!reader, dark!simon, horror movie vibes, graphic depictions of character death/murder, unhealthy relationship dynamics, one slip of daddy, smut, unprotected piv, simon "spit in my mouth" riley, reader and simon are kinda psycho :D
you've been so nice to her. really nice. you've let it slide off your back whenever she doesn't do her dishes. you pretend you don't notice when she borrows your shoes from the hallway and wears them out to dinner. you hide yourself in your room when she has her awful, loud guests over, and you have never once said anything about how she takes her sweet time in the shared bathroom in the morning and makes you late 2 days a week for work.
but this? this?
she needs to keep simon's name out of her fucking mouth.
"excuse me?" you say finally. your roommate is shrugging on her jacket to leave, her purse in her hand as she types on her phone, using it as a way to not make eye-contact with you. her long nails are tapping against the screen, and it feels like fucking drip water torture. "what the fuck did you just say?"
she sighs, irritated, rolling her eyes as she keeps tapping away at the screen.
"you're so dramatic, it was just a fucking joke."
"you know, i let a lot of things slide," you laugh, humorlessly, and you cross your arms over your chest as you follow her into the kitchen. "but you need to be careful what you say."
"i don't do anything except call it like i see it," she says, tossing her hair over her shoulder and looking at herself in the reflection of the mirror hanging on the wall. "you need to just...go out more. man like that isn't gonna stay for long if you don't give him something to go for. he's bored, you know. when you have him over here all the time. and i've totally caught him peeking at me after i shower, y'know."
"well why the fuck are you wearing nothing but a towel when my boyfriend is here, anyways?" you snap. "he's trying to be polite, he's a guest. what if i wore a fucking towel when you had your guy friends over?"
she laughs, poking at the edge of her lip to fix the gloss of her pout. "trust me, honey, no one's looking at you in a towel."
you step back, a little shocked. she rolls her eyes again, sighing.
"i didn't--"
"are you kidding me?" you retort. "you're the worst fucking roommate in the world, and i put up with all your bullshit, and now you're going to go so low as to insult the way i look just to make yourself feel better?" you make your way around the kitchen island. "you don't wash your fucking dishes, you steal my fucking clothes, you're always late on your rent so i have to spot you--"
"you know what, just because i'm fucking happy, and you're not, doesn't mean you have to take it out on me!"
"i am happy, you sorry bitch!" you cry. "i'm so fucking happy, you're the only thing in my life making me constantly miserable!"
"oh, shove it up your ass, you ungrateful little shit!" she snaps. "you're just so fucking insecure and hate me so badly just because simon would rather fuck a girl like me than have to spend another minute with--"
the crack of cast iron against her head shuts her up. it dents the side of her head easily, and her face smacks against the countertop before she crumples to the floor.
it's so fast. one minute, she's yapping, high-pitched voice straining your ears. the next, she's silent.
and she won't say simon's fucking name again.
you watch with bated breath as she folds into herself, her head hitting the hardwood last, a slow puddle of blood beginning to grow under the tendrils of her hair as your eyes move to the heavy pan you're still holding in your hands.
fuck, that's a lot of blood. god, you thought she was just full of fucking air.
you drop the pan once the rush of anger leaves your chest. it thunks onto the ground, and your hands shake as you see the specks of blood that are on the back of your hands, sprinkled over the shirt you wear. it stains your bare legs, even your toes, and you don't even want to look at the spray of it along the counters.
you should be crying, you think. you should feel bad. you're trembling a little, but you think it's just the adrenaline beginning to fade and not the guilt you know is supposed to be racking your insides.
you turn your eyes back to her. her eyes are dull. she doesn't move. it's so quiet now, utterly silent, and you take a deep breath as you take in the silence that you've craved for a long while now. you make your way quietly out of the kitchen, stepping over her body before going for your phone that sits on the coffee table in front of the couch.
you keep your eyes on her as you put your phone to your ear. it rings, and you tilt your head to the side as the blood begins to spiderweb under the kitchen table.
"'ello?"
you blink, looking towards the door. you clutch your phone a little tighter to your ear.
"simon?" you say softly. "a-are...are you busy?"
he hums lowly, chuckling, "no' at the moment, swee'eart, why?" he asks. "mmm...missed y'r voice..." you close your eyes as you hear the buckle of his belt. you try not to picture your giant of a boyfriend leaning back on his worn couch and shoving his jeans low enough to fuck his fist. "tolk t'me, luv...tell me 'ow much ya miss daddy."
you clear your throat gently, willing yourself to ignore the soft squelch of what you know is his hand around his cock, to not let it distract you from what's more important. "uhm...i liked the flowers you gave me, simon. t-they were beautiful."
the sounds on the other end of the phone quiet. you hear shuffling, and then a few moments later, the clink of his car keys.
"tha' right, baby?" he asks, and you close your eyes as you hear the front door of his flat opening. he's already on the way, already coming.
"yeah," you sniffle. "really nice sunflowers."
a yellow flower. he huffs on the other end of the phone, breathing a little easier.
"good girl," he murmurs, and then the line cuts. you set the phone down, making your way back to the kitchen and taking a seat at the table. you watch as the blood continues to curl over the floor. you make no attempt to help her; you just swing your feet under you as you look at her spoiled outfit, just grateful she isn't wearing your shoes or one of your jackets. you would hate to have to throw something out that she got all dirty.
there's a curt knock at the door ten minutes later, and then it opens. simon shuts the door behind him, cracking his neck by moving it from side to side before narrowing his eyes at you. you bite your lip, blinking, forgetting suddenly why he is here when he looks so fucking good. he's got a sweatshirt on under his windbreaker, worn jeans tucked into his boots; you like these jeans, his ass looks incredible in them.
"wot happened?" he asks. you stand, remembering your place. your lip starts trembling, and simon's eyes soften just a little. he's wearing his balaclava, hood up over his head and jacket zipped up, shadowing any true expression on his face. his gait sounds heavy as he lets his hands out of his pockets, coming towards you. when he steps into the kitchen, his eyes dart towards your roommate who's still on the floor, laid out unnaturally just by the oven.
he lets out a low breath, clicking his tongue under the mask. you hold your breath as you wait for his reaction.
"bloody hell," simon mutters, reaching up and throwing his hood off. you wring your hands together nervously, your eyes beginning to sting with tears. you brace for the accusations, for the inevitable terror of facing the music. simon is military, for fuck's sake, why the fuck did you think turning to him would be a good idea?
"i...i-i--" you start, looking up at him, and he holds up a hand, taking the side of your face into his palm before smoothing a gloved thumb over your bottom lip. you blink in confusion, not understanding.
"'s olright, baby," he shushes you, shaking his head. "don't cry."
"simon, i--" you sputter a little, gripping his wrist gently. "i just--i couldn't do it anymore, she just--"
he pities you. maybe you can explain. maybe if you tell him a warped story of what happened, he can help you. he must know someone. he must have important friends, he must--
he uses his free hand to move his mask up over his nose, and you lean into him when he bends, kissing you warmly. your eyes flutter shut, and you shuffle closer as he kisses you sloppy, kisses you hot. you mewl as he slips his tongue into your mouth, licking over your teeth and humming low as he pulls away. his eyes are flashing.
mmm. love.
"hmm..." simon licks his lips, smiling a little. he looks over you, almost pensive, his eyes scanning over your face before he settles back on your eyes. it's tender, the way he looks at you. romantic. "let's get this off of ya."
he reaches for the large shirt you are wearing, pulling it up and over your head. he crumples it into a ball before tossing it on top of your roommate, nodding his head behind you.
it's then that you realize simon isn't going to do the noble thing. he isn't going to call the police. he isn't going to turn you in, make you explain, he seems uninterested in knowing what really happened. no, he already knows what happened. but that's not important.
his pretty, perfect girl got into a little trouble. and he's going to make this go away.
"go on, luv. take a nice shower, yeah?" simon turns you around and pushes on your back gently. you suck in a shaky breath when he fondles your ass, pulling on your panties gently. "mmm...take these off, too."
you slip your panties down your legs, handing them to him.
"they have blood on them, too?" you ask, wiping your face, and he chuckles lowly.
"nah," he shrugs, stuffing them into his back pocket after taking a little sniff. "these are just for me."
jesus fucking christ, there's really something wrong with him. there's something really, really wrong with him.
and something wrong with me.
simon looks you up and down, his eyes catching on your naked body for just a few moments before he nods his head again.
"go on," he tells you. "before i get distracted." you pause for a moment, tilting your head back a little as he reaches out and cups one of your breasts in his big hand. you bite your lip, swallowing back a heavy breath as he flicks his thumb over your nipple gently. "greatest tits 've ever seen," he mumbles, scrunching his nose under the mask before he lets you go. "yeah, go on, baby." it takes everything in you to walk away when you see him reach down with that same hand and grip his bulge through his jeans, adjusting himself as he turns back to the mess in the kitchen.
when you shut the bathroom door behind you, you hear shuffling in the living room. the coffee table scraping. the couch being pushed. the rustle of the rug you have there. he grunts a little, and you hear his boots track from the kitchen back to the living room.
you turn the water on hot. you decide to take a bath, not looking at yourself in the mirror as you sink into the tub and plug the drain. you make the water scalding, and it soothes your sore muscles as you rest your cheek against the edge of the tub and stare at the door.
you're not sure how long you stay there. long enough for the water to nearly slosh over the edge of the tub and for simon to swing the bathroom door open, seemingly done with his...tasks.
he's taken his sweatshirt off. just a black t-shirt tucked into jeans, and there's a slight pant to his breaths that tell you he's exerted some energy. you notice he has his gloves still on, but before he touches you, he takes them off and tosses them into the sink.
"move over," simon mutters, starting to undress. you look up at him as he undoes the button on his pants, shucking his shirt off and into the corner before dropping his jeans. the water swishes as you sit up, and you swallow hard when simon kicks his boots and pants off, his cock hanging heavy as his mask is the last to hit the floor.
fuck, he's so pretty.
he has no regard for his size. he simply steps into the tub behind you, taking a seat. he looks comically large in your small bathtub, and you squeak a little as the water spills over the edge of the bath and wets the floor. he hums as he feels the hot water on his back. you don't say anything as his hands start to turn the water a little red. you just look up, away, at him.
you shuffle between his legs, tucking yourself into his space. you can't help but look him up and down, admiring his naked physique. he's just hot. big arms, thick thighs, sunburnt tattoos and scars cutting across his face. he hasn't shaved today, so there's some stubble along his jaw, but your eyes focus a little too much on his girthy length, heavy as it sits on his stomach and leaks a little there. his fat stomach, all solid and pudgy, such a nice place for you to rest your hands.
"you did good today," simon says finally. you look at him, and he tilts his head to the side. his approval makes your chest warm. "callin' me like tha'. wot a good girl you are."
keeping quiet on the phone is what he doesn't add out loud.
you purse your lips, trying not to keen at the praise, but it's hard not to when he reaches over and slides his hand over your shoulder, thumbing at your jaw.
"i-i didn't...didn't know what to do," you admit, and he clicks his tongue, shaking his head. you didn't know what to do, so you called him. level-headed enough to not do something rash and call someone else, no, you called him.
"mmm...tha's wot i'm 'ere for, luv," simon soothes you. "made such a little mess..."
you close your eyes. it's sick. deranged. fuck, it feels nice.
why don't i feel anything?
"i know. i'm sorry."
"nothin' ta be sorry about."
you slump into his arms, resting your cheek on his solid chest. you can feel his cock pulsing against your tummy, and you adjust yourself in the water, straddling him as you rest your chin on his pecs and look up at him through watery eyes.
you aren't sad. no. not sad at all. simon has shown you what he will do for the you. the lengths he will go. what he'll forgive just to take care of you. he's so capable, so understanding.
sick. twisted. mine.
"then i'll just say thank you," you mumble, grinding your hips slowly. simon hums, a wicked smile coming over his scarred face. he licks over his bottom lip, big hands gripping you by the fat of your hips as you grip the edges of the tub for stability. "say thank you to my big, strong man for taking such good care of me..."
he chuckles, his eyes lowering, watching your tits sway as you fit your pussy over his length and grind down on him.
"tha' so, baby?"
you nod.
"mhm," you whine. "how can i thank you, my big boy? how can i show you how grateful i am for cleaning up after me, hmm?" you bend at the waist, kissing him wet and warm, and he hisses as you suck his tongue into your mouth. he tastes like cigarettes, and normally you would curse him for it, but right now it tastes so much like him, and you lick around his teeth trying to taste more of that sweet nicotine.
"fuck--such a naughty little girl..." he snickers, reaching down. you sigh when he slides his big palms over your ass, forcing you to grind slower, the tip of his cock sliding through your folds leisurely. you grip the edges of the tub tighter, pressing down to give you more leverage to grind down harder. "make such a mess, oll the time..." you gasp when he presses into you just enough, the tip breaching your entrance and forcing you to squeeze around him, your cunt trying to suck him in. "olways needin' me ta pick up afta ya..."
you giggle, sliding your hands up his chest, gripping his shoulders for leverage as you sink down onto him. he grits his teeth as you do, his eyes focused on the way his cock disappears inch by inch until you're seated down in his lap, his length kissing deep and twitching excitedly. he always feels like a teenager again whenever you fuck--like you're the first pretty girl to ever wet his cock.
you cup his cheeks finally, smoothing your thumbs under his eyes as you bring his gaze up to meet yours. you swallow hard, looking down at him.
"i-i love you, simon," you breathe. he stills underneath you, his jaw clenching as he frowns just a little. you come a little closer, nuzzling your nose against his, your thumb falling to trace the outline of his torn lip. "i should've said it a long time ago...i-i..."
"heart's beatin' out y'r chest, luv," he mutters lowly. "'s olright...'m not goin' anywhere."
it's so disgusting. you should be fucking ill. you should be scrambling to the toilet, your breakfast halfway up your throat. you should be crying, emotional, begging simon to tell the cops that it was all your fault, because it is. he should've come here and made you do the level-headed thing and confess your terrible crime.
he shouldn't be here, sitting underneath you in your tub, cock-deep inside of you after helping you commit murder and then fucking clean it all up.
"what did i do?" you gasp, sitting up. you move to get out of the tub, but simon growls, putting two firm hands on your ass and shoving you back down on his cock, making you cry. "w-what did i do? s-simon, why don't i feel bad, why am i not sorry--?!"
simon tsks, feigning comfort. he juts his bottom lip out into a pout, mocking your little cries.
"oh, luvvie, don't start cryin' now," he chuckles. "don't start pretending like y'care."
uhm...
"simon--"
"no one likes a liar."
you're still trying to pretend, and he knows this. you're still trying to act how someone normally would react. someone normal, someone who thinks rationally, would never have picked up the pan in the first place. and even if they had, they would've scrambled, cried, picked up the phone and confessed, called an ambulance as they tried to get her to start breathing again, put both hands on her chest and tried to get her wake up.
but you didn't. you watched, unnervingly calm, as she stained the hardwood with her blood. you watched as her eyes glassed over, lifeless, and you watched as her insides began to paint the floor in abstract shapes as you gave it time to spread. and not once during that time, or waiting for simon, did you think to help her.
you didn't want to help her. and you certainly didn't think she deserved to get back up. maybe she hadn't done anything quite harsh enough to deserve death in someone else's eyes. annoying, overbearing, rude.
but it's hard to feel bad when she talked about simon. when she called him by his name. when you've seen her let her towel slip when he's in her vicinity, trying to coax him into her room when you're looking away.
you should've taken one of the throwing knives that simon hides in his boot and thrown it at her then, just for that.
"we're cut from the same bloody cloth, baby," simon says, almost accusingly. you grip the edges of the tub, trying to stand again, but he cants his hips and fucks up into you, drawing a frenzied moan out of you. you reach for his shoulders as he does it again, his tongue darting out before he licks a fat stripe over your pebbled nipple. "'s olright. 's okay, luv. don't worry. don't hafta get y'r hands dirty, swee'eart, i've got it."
"but simon," you whine, but all he does is shake his head. you don't have to put on this morality act for him. you don't have to pretend that you are sorry for something that you had every right to do, you don't have to explain to him why you aren't feeling the way you should be feeling.
simon doesn't care about how you should feel. he only cares about how you actually feel.
"she was in y'r way," simon grunts. "always bein' a bloody brat." he fists your hair and brings your mouth to his, groaning as you tighten around his cock. "'ow many times did she fuck ya over, baby, hmm? 'ow many times did she steal y'r fuckin' things, come outta the loo wearin' nothin' but her fuckin' knickers, yeah? 'ow many times?"
you kiss him, frantic, digging your nails into his pecs and dragging them angrily.
yeah. fuck her. fuck what she did to me, fuck the way she behaved, fuck her stupid face and her stupid attitude and her stupid little games.
"called ya names..." he's hitting your sweet spot now, making you cry from pleasure. your pussy feels so hot, squeezing him because you know he's right, and the way he fucks this time makes you think he really knows what you are and knows exactly how to get you there. "wot a fuckin' twat. deserved every bit o' it, baby."
you meet his eyes, dark and cruel. he's still moving, still holding onto your hips and drawing out little whines, but it's different suddenly, it's more. you nod, understanding.
simon is terrible. no good. his head isn't in the right place, maybe it never has been. you wonder, briefly, if this is what he does when he's at work, if these are the things that he's used to. maybe simon has been in service too long--maybe he doesn't understand that you aren't at war here, that you can't just kill and clean up, that you aren't in the field.
"she deserved it," you whimper, and he grins, all teeth, all mean.
"tha's it."
"she was such a bitch."
"fuckin' right."
"she got what was coming for her."
"nnghhh--fuck, baby, gonna make me fuckin' cum, tolkin' like tha'," he hisses. you practically smack him as you grab onto his scarred face, gritting your teeth as you glare down at him. his lips part, and you spit in his mouth as he fucks up into you, thighs hitting your ass with a wet smack that makes your head spin.
"and i'll get rid of the next bitch that so much as looks your way, simon."
the kiss is searing. hot, blinding, white noise fills your ears as he cums with you, stuffing you full as he cums hard, a pained groan leaving him as he collapses against the porcelain tub with a harsh thud. you follow him, chasing after him, kissing him between heavy breaths as you don't make any effort to move off of him. when simon opens his eyes, he can't help but smile.
he's never seen his reflection without a mirror.

18+ Minors dni. I'm currently obsessed with the thought of Bucky making his pretty girl take it. I'm talking him keeping you caged under him with your legs wrapped around his waist while his arm are wrapped tightly around your body. This type of energy comes out when he's pissed. Stressed. Jealous. He's going to remind you exactly who you belong to and my favourite thing about this is imagine you didn't even know what happened. Maybe he overheard some agents talking about how irresistible you are. So cute and pretty and they'd give anything to-
Nope. The thought alone of anytone touching what's his has him storming off, hauling you over to mark you in the most primal way possible. Remind everyone who you belong to. He plucks you up from whatever you're doing and carries you over his shoulder like a beast; you're naked on his bed seconds later. He plows into you, hips slamming his cock into your very soaked cunt, unapologetically fucking you with the deepest moans. He sounds so feral. He is feral.
"Feels-so-good, such a good girl, letting me put my big dick in you"
Those grunts and groans he lets out show just how selfish he's being because he's focused on how fucking good you're making his dick feel. You're so soft but you make his cock so hard. You're such an angel for him, spreading your legs for him the second he set you down. He'd been torn between wanting to ravish you immediately or taking a second to throw his clothes off. He decides he needs you to fucking smell like him when this is all over, have every bit of his scent covering your skin. He wants to feel every bit of you all over him.
No one else would ever get to have you like this. Feel your naked breasts on their chest. Feel your soft tummy press against theirs. Feel the plushness of your thighs squeezing their waist. Feel your silky walls squeeze and milk their cocks till they're all soft and sensitive.
They'd hear you though.
They'd hear every moan and Bucky would make sure of that.
"Whose cock is making you scream baby, tell me" He growls, your combined arousal making a mess on the bed.
"Y-OURS-" You hiccup, choking back a sob as he snakes his had to wrap around your throat. Damn right. His fucking cock. His dick in your pussy. Not the stupid little boys who think they have a chance to even breathe the same air. His pretty, pink, fat fucking cock destroying you to his heart's content, stretching you open as much as he wants. "J-JAMES"
"That's right, say my name baby, say the name of your man who fucks you this good, let everyone hear" He's already turned off all the sound proofing and maybe he left his door a crack open. Maybe.
"Jaamesss" You sound so gone, cockdrunk over the way the spongy head of his dick kisses that sensitive spot that makes you squirt cream with each of his thrusts. "Don't st-stop, please-fuck-me-Jamie" Your voices slurs and turns into a whine as your eyes roll back. For such a sweet princess, you sound like an absolute slut when he's inside you and he wouldn't have it any other way.
"Mhphhm, sound so pretty, gonna make me blow, let me empty my balls in you" He starts to fuck you faster causing the headboard to shake, the whole bed creaking with his movements. "M'gonna cum angel-oh shittt-"
He nearly whimpers when he feels your doe eyes looking up at him with your ankles locked around his waist; he knows exactly what that means.
"You want it inside you huh, want my cum in you baby, s'that it?"
"Want-it-please, can't hold it" you cling onto him tighter and Bucky can't last any longer.
"Cum with me, together, c'mon angel, cum with me, yes, fuck yes, can feel you-fuck-" He begs, needing those little boys who spoke about you to hear exactly what they're missing out on, "OH GOD, FUCKKK" He doesn't hold back as he gives into his orgasm, your name dripping of his lips while you sob and squeal.
I want him to give you the softest aftercare. Tell you what a good girl you were for him. How much he loves and adores you, how special you are to him.
I want him to have the most smug expression on his face when he goes back down. He's such a little shit. He passes by a cackling Tony and a wheezing Sam. Not one agent dares look him in the eye. Steve may be blushing but he'll give credit where credit is due. His best friend sent a very clear message. Bucky is a possessive, loving, horny little shit and I need it.
Need it now.

đŁČ RILE HIM UP ! ft BOOTHILL.
â â your least favourite cyborg is brought back to you a mangled mess.
â OR
â â being boothillâs mechanic when you lowkey canât stand each other.
â ïž sweet sweet tension, a little suggestive towards the end, gn reader (no referring pronouns), can they fuck already, this was ib by his lightcone, wc 1.9k
boothill's eyes flickered to life, emitting a faint glow of red as his systems began to reboot.
a pair of familiar red pupils met yours, two crosshairs fading into sight as boothill regained his sight andâ to your dismayâ consciousness.
as the cyborg regained his motion he attempted a step forward, only to realise he didnât have the feet or legs to do so. the only thing keeping him powered on were some metal claws screwed into his back and a few loose cables connecting to your terminals.
âsugar plum,â boothill's scruffy voice cut through the silence. âdo y'care to explain where my legs mightâa run off to?â
you actually cocked an eyebrow. how the hell were you supposed to know? boothill was brought back to you in a mess of scraps and wiringâ the damn hunk of metal was lucky you made him as blast proof as possible and he was left salvageable.Â
âcare to tell me how the hell you got this roughed up?â
you asked in turn, crouching down to look at the detached and ruined internals of boothill's torso where the stand-in wires were connected. you ran a finger carefully along the edge of his shredded metallic stomach.
âguess i didn't make you as smart as i thought. time for a newer model, maybe?â
boothill's eyes flickered down to his missing lower half, then to your hand that was more or less caressing him. it was amazing how much annoyance they could show in all their artificial glory.
âlook whoâs talkin.â the cowboy grumbled, pointy fangs poking out in an irritated grin.Â
âhow âbout, âgee, boothill! iâm real glad yâainât get blown to smithereens beyond repair!ââÂ
âit would've been less work for me if whoever blew you up finished the job.â
you sighed as you stood up, putting a hand lazily on your hip.
âhowâd it happen?â
boothill bit back another argument with a gruff chuckle.
âsome real cutie-pies i was huntinâ down had a lilâ more firepower than i expected. guess they didnât appreciate me spoilinâ their party.â
boothill visibly cringed as his insult was substituted with some cutesy nickname mid explanation.
âand can you fix my beautiful synesthesia beacon already? this thing is drivinâ me up the wall.â
the request fell on deaf ears as your fingers typed something on your laptop, likely another string of code.
âyouâre more concerned about your censor than how long itâs gonna take me to put your legs back onâŠâ you sighed to yourself, still leaned over your workbench, eyes focused on your screen.
âi'm not touching it right now. youâre lucky iâm even letting you stay sentient after this.â
boothill snorted at the remark, brows furrowing in a steady grimace.
âwell, âscuse me for wantinâ to speak freelyâ iâm a grown man!â his pointy teeth shone as they peeked out again in a grin.
âyâknow what? just leave yer lilâ tools and all the pieces thereâ iâll get my legs back on myself. donât need no charity work from the likesâa you.â he laughed. âheck, may even give myself a new pecker while i'm at it!â
the mechanic had half a mind to listen, sit back and watch boothill struggle to reassemble himself just to prove a point and simultaneously bask in his embarrassment when the former realised it wasnât possible.
(not that he wouldâve admitted defeatâ you would have begrudgingly stepped in and helped before he inevitably messed up his wiring more.)
you stepped back over to boothill, hands moving to hold his cheeks so you could tilt his face side to side to check for any more damage.
âcool it, cowboy.â your eyes squinted in focus as they looked at boothill's, lightly tugging up on his eyelid to check for scratches or cracks.
âi'll get you back up and running, just lose the attitude already.â
boothill's eyes narrowed as he felt your touch on his face. the temperature difference of warm fingers on his cold, mechanical body stirring an oddity where his gut should have been. though he tried to ignore it, the sensation was there, clear as day against all his artificial nerve endings.Â
âreal easy for you to say,â he huffed, avoiding your eyes as he was examined like a broken toy. âletâs see how peachy you are when yer all strung up and legless, love muffin.â
that censor really was gonna drive him insane.
âjust get it over with.'' boothill muttered in annoyance. âand try not tâfuss anythinâ up.â
it took quite some time, as expected, for you to successfully reattach boothillâs legs and fix his mangled midsection. when you were finally finished, you tugged out any leftover wires that connected boothill to your terminals and pushed back in your wheelie chair to beckon the cowboy forward. you pushed your glasses up to your forehead, some hair getting swept out of your eyes with them.
âfeel fine?â
boothill rolled his ankles and bent his knees, giving his legs a good stretch to test their mobility.
âmighty fine,â he responded, satisfied to feel they were weighted and moved the same as before. âthough i canât say iâm lovinâ the breeze up my backside.âÂ
boothill glanced down at himself, steel body completely bare and lacking any of his signature clothing.Â
âgot my pants lyinâ around anywhere, sugar plum?â
you pointed to another table in the room, where boothills clothesâ (or rather the new ones you had to go and getâ) were neatly folded, his hat placed on top of them.Â
boothill went to get himself dressed, hoisting up his bell bottomed pants and sliding on his jacket. he stole a glance in your direction every so often, resisting the childish urge to roll his eyes at the mere sight of you.
the artificial man hit a small bump in the road as he went to zip his jacket (could you really call it that with how little it covered?) upâ his fingers werenât responding as well as they should have been. he could open and close his fist, but lacked the precision to pinch and hold the zipper.
âhey, honeybun,'' boothill called over to you with a furrowed brow. âdidnât i tell you not to go fudginâ anythinâ up?â
you, in all your overtired glory groaned, turning around in your chair and waving boothill back over.
âwhat are you talking about?âÂ
âmy cute lilâ fingers ainât workinâ thatâs what iâm talkinâ âbout!â
boothill's footsteps were clunky and loud as he stomped his way back over to his mechanic.
you reached for his hand, an uncharacteristic gentleness in your touch as you examined five mechanical fingers.
âmake a fist,â
boothill obeyed, curling his fingers into his palm.
âopen it,â
he obeyed again, letting them open and relax.
âhold up two fingers,â
boothill tried, but his fingers got stuck halfway into the motion, locking at the joints.
âson of a bitch.â you sighed, turning for one of your tools. âsit back down.â
boothill grumbled and went to hoist himself back onto the workbench.
âleast one oâus can say itâŠâÂ
âdo you want me to fix you or not?â
âi'm sittinâ ainât i??â
you pulled boothill's shirt off his left shoulder and popped open a tiny panel on the curve of his neck, sliding your glasses back on to the bridge of your nose. with a lean forward you began carefully looking at a few thin wires that filled the space.
boothill tapped his fingers against the tabletop while you worked, that same oddity as before settling in his now repaired gut. he rarely got messed up enough for you and him to spend this much time together, or for you to have to really be in such close proximity.
itâs not uncomfortable, but the feeling is by no means familiar. itâs actually a little embarrassingâ a galaxy ranger, a space cyborg and expert hunter, feeling almost flustered at some close contact like some kind of shy little girl.
âsomething the matter?â
boothill nearly jumped as you spoke up quietly to check on him, voice quiet and so close to his ear he had to refrain from leaning both closer and away.
ânah, everythingâs just dandy.â boothillâs voice followed yoursâ quieter and a little softer as a result of the closeness.
âyouâre sure?â you looked up from the small mess of wires, eyes glancing up at your cyborg over the rim of your glasses. âmight as well fix anything else thatâs bugging you while iâm here.â
boothill would have swallowed if he had the need to lubricate his throat. he shook his head, turning to look somewhereâ anywhere else.
yours lingered on him, albeit briefly, observing the clench of his jaw and the way he tried to shift in his seat without being disruptive to your work. he didnât see the little smirk tug at your lips as you refocused on the task at hand.
boothillâs cybernetic limbs felt almost human in their sensitivity, sending faux shivers up a spine he didnât even have. the mechanics fingers running down his forearm are doing him no favours as they move to hold his hand again.
âclose your fistâŠopen itâŠtwo fingers upâŠâ
each command was obeyed, ten gunmetal fingers finally holding up a little peace sign.
âthat should be it, come see me if they start acting up again.â
you stood up, tentatively reaching out to fix boothillâs jacket and begin to zip it for him.
boothill didnât protest the act, but it wasâŠconfusing, to say the least.
âreckon iâll just start seeinâ those auto bots again,â he leaned back on his palms as your fingers fixed his collar, straightening it out. âmuch as i love our lilâ visits.â
you only hummed, smoothing out a few wrinkles and neatly tucking his scarf into itâs neckline, as he liked. âyou could,â you mused, hooking your finger lightly into his collar and giving a gentle tug forward. âthey donât take as good care of you as i do, though.â
this time boothill caught the little smirk on your lips, clear as day and enough to make him question if short circuiting was possible.
youâre doing it on purpose, he knows. the careful touches to his hands and body against the sensors you put there, quiet voice leaving him with a frisson you made it possible for him to have.
boothill returned the smirk, albeit a little wobbly.
âyou tryinâa rile me up, sugar plum?âÂ
he entertained you with a lean forward, two white crosshairs looking right at you while he considered if a hand on your waist was too forward or the perfect cornering move.Â
âjust like watching you squirm.â
you were gone as quickly as youâd arrived, finger unhooked and going to pick up his hat.
âbut say i was,â you didnât bother with a glance over as you made sure the brim was straight and unharmed. âi hardly have to try.âÂ
boothill hopped down from the table, following your path and offering a scruffy chuckle when you reached up to place it on his head.
âyeah? and what makes yâsay that?â his hand found a place on his hip.
you didnât respondâ not verbally, anyway. a quick flick of your eyes downwards was all he received.Â
so he followed, looking down as well, to the very appendage he had insisted you give him over and over again pushing against his trousers.Â
his own dream, now his downfall.Â
boothill pushed passed you, pushing his hat further down onto his head while he stomped away. the profanities that left his lips filled the airâ or rather their replacements. something something i love you blah blah peach cobbler something cutie-pie or meow!
âremind me tâsettle for them lovely auto bots next time!â
he opened the door with a firm kick of his boot, stomping out with a scowl.Â
as if he wouldnât be back. you took better care of him, after all.

DEFINITELY NUTS ᥣđ© ‷ next
pairing: Simon 'Ghost' Riley & model!fem!reader
synopsis: Ghost mentions you but 141 doesn't believe that he got a wife
tags: crack (well, attempted), fluff
Ghostâs strict rules for privacy are something the 141 has known for years now. Heâs not the type of person to blab about his personal life and often chooses just to keep quiet. So, imagine their surprise when he suddenly says that heâs going to take a day off because his wife asked him to watch a play.Â
âPrice, âam not gonna be here tomorrow. Got a date with my missus.â
All eyes are on him, everyone stills. âWIFE? Since when?!â Soap exclaimed, finally breaking the silence. His eyes were almost bulging out his eyes. âNever told you about her?â Ghost hums, unamused by the Scottishâs exclaim. âJohnny here does have a reasonable reaction. You never tell us anything âbout you, mate,â Price joined, chuckling and pulling out a cigar. The man just contemplates before brushing it off and bidding farewell, leaving the group confused.Â
âAinât no way heâs telling us the truth. That man ainât got no bone in his body to bag someone,â Soap voiced out, looking for anyone to support his disbelief. âI mean..â Gaz whistles out, crossing his arms over his chest and tilting his head as if heâs agreeing to some extent. Thatâs when, unbeknownst to Ghost, he got the reputation of being delusional and a liar.Â
Soap, still doubtful days later, watches the lieutenant with a vision like a hawk. âHey, lieutenant.â Ghost snaps his head up, looking at him. âHow was the date with your wife?â Immediately, everyone else stopped what they were doing, silently listening. It was obvious he was baiting Ghost, emphasizing the wife as if putting on quotes. They werenât as nosy as Soap but each one of them still held a bit of doubtness that the brick wall of the team managed to get a girl, and even marry her.
âIt was okay. The missus had fun,â Ghost chuckles, fondly remembering how you were beaming on the way, rambling about the plot of the play. âCan we see pictures?â Soap smirked thinking he finally got the lieutenant but was taken aback when Ghost only shrugged and pulled out his phone before freezing. âAh, we didnât take pictures yesterday. Said she wanted to live in the moment.âÂ
Soap whipped his head to signal to Gaz, seemingly saying âSee? Heâs definitely lying! How convenient he has no pictures.âÂ
âHow about just a picture of your wife?â Kyle suggested, now invested while Price seemed to be shaking his head in the corner. âI have none with me but..â With a few clicks, Ghost holds up his phone for everyone to see. Like birds, everyone flocked around him, curious to see. For a while, everyone was surprised and sure the man was lying. I mean, he just showed them a picture of a drop-dead gorgeous model from a magazine!Â
âHe's definitely lost itâ everyone seemed to think, offering pity glances at the man who had this prideful shine in his eyes. Walking up to his superior, Soap patted him on the back. âItâs fine, mate⊠we understand how difficult it must be.â ânot having a lady at allâ
Thinking Johnny meant about your hectic schedule, he agreed. âItâs quite tough but we make it work,â he chuckled which made everyone wince.
âDefinitely nuts!â
Weeks passed after that and the topic never got brought up, until Ghost came in with a bento in hand covered with a handkerchief with frilly ends. When asked about it, he replied, âAh, wifeâs testing out recipes for an upcoming TV show. âS been practicing and asked me to bring one.â Once again, he was given pity glances and even heard a defeated sigh from Soap.Â
âHeâs too far goneâ
âHowâs work?â you ask, dazedly paying attention to the movie you guys put, more invested in burying your face in Simonâs chest while he drapes both arms on your waist, completely engulfing your torso under his muscles. âBeen getting a few weird stares,â he mumbles, playing with your hair and pressing kisses on your forehead. âWhy?â you peer up, resting your chin on his shoulder. âI donâ know, princess.â
MeanwhileâŠ
âShould we just⊠finally set the lieutenant on a date? I feel bad. I mean, he even lied about his âwifeâ making him lunch,â Johnny sighed.
âProbably the best idea,â Kyle nodded.
Now Price⊠he knows the truth. He met you before when you dropped by, asking for Ghostâ which ended horriblyâ but heâll lying if he said heâs not getting a kick out of this.

are you afraid of me?
what the hell type of name is "mr. crawling" if he can fucking walk?
â§â á”á” đ â
Ëâź based on the hc that mr crawling doesn't stand so he doesn't scare mc.
warnings. just fluff/comfort, some spoilers for end04 and end17
Mr. Crawling is kind.
Mr. Crawling is sweet.
Mr. Crawling is a complete mystery to you.
Other than his complete and instant devotion to you, you know almost nothing about him. Not that youâre complaining; since escaping the other world with him in tow, heâs been a pretty decent roommate.
He doesnât have many hobbies, unless staring at you from across the room counts. The only mess he leaves is long, black hairs that snake along the shower walls and more often than not clog the drain. He doesnât even eat your foodâsomething you discovered after a week of trial and error, setting out everything from leftovers to raw steak in the hopes of figuring out what a creature like him might like. As it turns out, he isnât much of an eater, and he refuses to wear anything but the clothes he crossed over in, so at least you didnât need to buy him new clothes. Heâs low-maintenance in those areas, thankfully, and your paycheck doesnât take a huge hit.Â
Still, as close as you are, and as much as youâve grown fond of him, you know nothing about who or what he truly is. Can he stand? Does he even have eyeballs? You know he can see, somehow, but how? Does he have teeth? Youâre not even sure thereâs a word for teeth in his language⊠Would he need a dentist? As most of your Mr. Crawling mouth knowledge went, you knew he had a tongue.Â
The days pass, you fall into routines, and so do your questions.
âCrawling,â you had said one night, settled up on the sofa after a long day at work. âWhy canât you stand?â
Mr. Crawling looks up from the screen, his wide smile faltering as he absorbs your question. His hair falls across his face, hiding whatever might be behind those red blotches he has for eyes.
âMe⊠not able to stand,â he replies, waving abnormally long limbs. âArms good!â He seems proud, at least.Â
You purse your lips out in thought- sure, he had those spindly legs, but it wasnât like he couldnât use them. You witnessed first hand the way he kicks his legs about under the blanket, unsettling cracks of his joints. Or when he sits up on his knees to fetch something on the counter top that he couldnât reach from the floor.Â
âYou want me stand?â
âNo, Crawling, I like you like this.â And you finished the conversation with a few pats on his head, and he nuzzled into your knee as if he was a pet.Â
âYou like me?â
You nod.
âMe like you!â
Low maintenance in the roommate department, high maintenance in the boyfriend? department.
You settle into bed that night after serving Mr Crawling his completely normal human soup that you definitely obtained by very legal and moral ways. Although, he didnât seem very hungry that night, and you decided to just keep it for later. You debated on leaving it out in case he got hungry during the night when you were asleep, but seeing as to what the contents were, you werenât up for it to stink out your kitchen. Back in the fridge it went!
âRest?â he asks from the doorway of your bedroom, eyeless staring as you settle on the mattress.Â
âI rest. You rest?â You pat the spot beside you.Â
âMe watch you.â
Whatta guy⊠You wait for him to join you before you pull the blanket to your chin. And just like every other night, Mr. Crawling wraps his long arms around you, joints cracking as he stretches his legs out on the blanket- his feet hang off the bed. His hair tickles every exposed inch of your skin, but you donât mind. Youâve gotten used to it at this point- maybe you should teach him to brush his own hair though?
His touch is cool, like air from a drafty window, and you relax under his delicate, careful pats on your head. Itâs not long before you drift off.
Itâs rare that you wake up in the dead of night. Itâs rarer when you wake up to him not in the same position you fell asleep in. Groggy, you reach an arm out to the other side of the bed and hit the space where Mr. Crawling should have been. Itâs still warm, however, and you sit up and rub your eyes. Heâs not here.
What the hell? That wasnât like him.
You slip into your slippers and shuffle toward the kitchen. The house is dark and still, except for a faint rustling. When your vision adjusts, you stop in your tracks. You were pretty sure your heart stopped for a second, too.Â
He hadnât noticed you yet, which is unlike him.Â
âC-Crawling?â you stammer.Â
Mr. Crawling is there, long arms in your fridge, but he isnât small and folded like usual. Heâs⊠standing. You blink, barely processing the sight. He has to be at least eight feet tall, maybe more, his head brushing the ceiling. His towering shadow spills over the walls, unsettling even to someone like you.
He freezes, letting out a startled squeak youâve never heard before. His head whips toward you, and his hair falls in a curtain over his face. He drops to his knees instantly, scrambling across the floor to you with long, frantic arms. He tackles you into an overzealous hug, the kind you usually get only when you come home from work.
âYou awake!â
You blink down at him. âI thought you said you couldnât stand?â you murmur, still dazed. He lied? Why would he lie? Is there even a word for lie in his language?
His hair fans at your face, elbows propping himself up on top of you. Mr. Crawling tilts his head at you, and you wrack your brain in this stupid monster language that you just canât perfectly adjust to yet.
âUhm⊠You stand good?â you manage to fumble the words out. You stand good. That just sounds ridiculous. âLegs work?â
Mr. Crawling lets you sit up, grey hands cupping your face. He seems⊠off. Sad? Worried? Youâve only seen him not smiling a few times- and that was when you first met him- when he scared the absolute daylights off of you, when that man in red with the umbrella appeared⊠There was also that time you collapsed, and that creepy, eyeless nurse showed up.
âYou scared me?â he asks, his tone soft.
Are you scared of me?Â
âYou donât stand because you think youâll scare me?â you mumble, hands holding onto his wrists. âErm⊠Not stand⊠me scared?âÂ
âMe scary⊠You not like me.â His head hangs and Mr. Crawlingâs hair touches the floor and licks at your legs.. His gentle hold of your face loosens.
He doesnât stand at his full height because heâs afraid heâll scare you? God. How can a ghost be such a sweetheart?
âHey,â you whisper, pulling his hands off your face. You wrap your arms around his neck, tilting your head so you can see where his eyes should be. âYouâre cute. Very big, yesâI was just surprised.â
âYou⊠not scared?â His voice is uncertain.
You giggle, squeezing him tighter. âNo. Just surprised.â He doesnât understand you- and you need to wrack every shelf in your brain to get the words out. âMe surprised⊠you very cute.â
Thereâs a beat of silence as he absorbs your words. âMe cute?â he repeats, as if itâs the greatest revelation in the world.
âVery cute,â you confirm, unable to help laughing as he tackles you once again to the floor, hair scattering everywhere as he nuzzles into your chest, murmuring, âMe cute, me cute,â in a gleeful mantra. You pat his head, and he flops onto the floor beside you with a giggle.
You stare at him, illuminated by the extremely romantic light of the fridge. âHungry?â you ask, and push some of his hair away from his face- he grabs your wrist before you get any closer to his eyes, though.
âWant eat⊠you rest.â
You shake your head, stifling a yawn. âIâll wait for you. I⊠erm⊠rest with you?â You cringe, knowing you said it wrong. Youâre at least seventy percent sure you said it wrong. Maybe itâs time to teach him your language.
Mr. Crawling lets out his normal unsettling giggles, a sound that cuts through the silence of the house.
You donât bother getting his tomato soup out of the fridge like you usually do, and take a seat at the table. He looks lost for a split second, and giggles once more as he rises to his feet. You let out a few appreciative oohs and ahhs he reaches his full height. Youâre still a bit shocked at how his head almost touches the ceiling.
He settles into his usual seat across from you, knees folded as best as they can be under the table, his feet brushing against your legs.
Itâs like a lightbulb appears above your head.
What the hell type of name is âMr. Crawlingâ if he can fucking walk?Â

Summery: Everyone can feel their soulmate's injuries and pain since the age of 15
Warning: None??
AN: Thank you for all the ideas. I just changed jobs, and it's a full time office job, so it's very demanding đđ

The world is built on the idea that soulmates are connected through their physical pain. Everyone knows that if you're injured or in pain, your soulmates feel the exact same pain. This can be seen as a blessing or as a curse. In one way, you know when your other half is injured, but it also brings shared vulnerability. Some believed it was a form of protection, a way for soulmates to be in tune with one another, even if they'd never met.Â
Now, did you know about this from a young age? Yes, you did. Did that stop you from doing all those crazy things that caused you multiple injuries? No. You felt sorry every time, but you're just clumsy by nature. It was from the moment you could walk that you've been a klutz. Bumping into walls, tripping over your own feet, and misjudging the occasional stair, it was part of your life. Growing up, you've gotten used to the bumps and bruises that came with her natural clumsiness, but what took longer to adjust to was the knowledge that someone else felt them, too.
Your soulmate must be a saint because you've rarely felt any pain. Yes, through the years, there have been times when you felt real and strong pain, but it was few and far between.
In a world of soulmates that felt their soulmates through visceral pain, your soulmate did everything he could to never cause you pain.
And for as long as you could remember, youâd imagined what he might be like. Patient for sure, after all, he had to endure your countless scrapes and missteps. You wondered if he was the type to sigh and shake his head when he felt you stub your toe or if he was used to your clumsiness, so much so that it barely bothered him anymore. Whoever he was, you were grateful got him.
Your friends often teased you about it, especially when you had a particularly bad fall or ended up with an impressive bruise. âYou really owe your soulmate an apology.â They would always joke. âHe must be so fed up by now.â
Youâd always laugh it off, but late at night youâd overthink. Did he really mind? Or was he out there somewhere laughing about it, too? What was his life like? Was he clumsy, too? You doubt it. He must be the complete opposite, composed and careful, someone who rarely felt pain unless it was coming from you. Maybe he was a doctor or an athlete, someone who needed precision and strength in his day-to-day life. Your imagination would always run wild, paining pictures of him in your mind. But no matter how many times you tried to envision his face, it remained just out of reach, like the hazy details of a dream.
The older you got the more curious you got, and it started eating at you. Who was he? Where was he? Some people met their soulmate early on, like your childhood friend who had found hers at eighteen. Others never found theirs at all, even though they shared the pain for their entire lives. You tried not to let it bother you too much, after all what could you do? If youâre meant to meet itâll happen on itâs own time.
But still there was that nagging feeling every time you bumped your knee or accidently burned your hand cooking. You would wince and imagine him somewhere far away, gritting his teeth as he felt the same.
âAnother one for you soulmate.â You muttered as you stumbled over a crack in the pavement.
For as long as you lived with the bond youâve been the one giving the worst of pains, sending your soulmate injuries, most harmless, but youâve also broken enough bones over the years.
It started as a dull ache, just beneath your ribs on the right side. At first, you didnât think much of it, assuming itâs a muscle strain or maybe itâs something youâve eaten. You shifted in your seat, pressing your hand against the spot as if to massage the discomfort away, but the ache lingered, stubborn and unrelenting.
Throughout the day the pain grew worse. What started as mild throb quickly became sharp, stabbing sensation, taking your breath away every time you moved, and you started to feel a fever coming. This wasnât like the occasional bump or fall youâre used to, this is far worse than anything youâve felt before. This is different, deeper, persistent and alarming.
By late afternoon, you couldnât take it anymore, every breath felt like a knife twisting in your side, and no matter how you positioned yourself, it wouldnât go away. Sweat was forming on your forehead as you tried to power through the pain, but something wasnât right.
Could this be coming from him?
You never felt pain like this before, certainly not from your own body. Your chest tightened, if this pain wasnât yours, then something is very wrong. The idea that your soulmate could be hurt, really hirt, it made your stomach churn. You could handle minor injuries, but this? This was different.
You rushed to the hospital, the ride to the hospital felt like an eternity. By the time you arrived, you were sweating and clutching your side, each movement like a dagger. You explained your symptoms to the nurse at the reception, your voice wavering with pain and fear,
They rushed you into an examination room.
âWeâll run some tests.â The doctor said after you told him your symptoms, his brows furrowed with concern. âIt sounds like it could be appendicitis, but weâll know more once we do an ultrasound.â
As the minutes dragged on, the pain sharpened, radiating into your chest. You clutched the hospital bedâs metal rails, your knuckles turned white as you waited. Nurses and doctors came and went performing the tests as quickly as they could. After what felt like hours the doctor came back.
âThe tests came back normal.â He began, flipping through the papers in his hands. âThereâs no sign of appendicitis, in fact, you donât have an appendix.â That was news to you.
âWhat? I donât have it? Is that normal?â You asked confused.
âItâs rare but it happens some people are born without an appendix.â The doctor confirmed, he didnât seem too worried.
âBut the pain, itâs unbearable, whatâs causing it?â You asked and dreaded the answer you know the doctor is about to give you.
âThe only answer we have is, the pain isnât yours to begin with.â The doctor smiled sympathetically. His words hung in the air heavy. Your soulmate. Heâs the one in agony, and you were feeling every excruciating second of it.
Carlos hasnât been feeling the best the last couple of days, he thought he was tired from all the traveling and racing and training. It happens. But the moment he woke up he knew something was wrong, he had Free Practice today, so he just pushed through it. However throughout the day, heâs just been getting worse and worse. By the end of FP2 he knew he couldnât just push it off, it wasnât food poisoning, he was starting to burn up.
Carlos with his team went to the hospital so heâd get checked out. He sat hunched over in the waiting room, gripping his side as the pain flared up again, sharper this time. The medics had said it was appendicitis and a routine surgery, nothing major. But that didnât ease the fear eating at the back of his mind. Heâs used to pushing his body through physical discomfort, but never to the point of pain. But this wasnât the type of pain you ignore.
He could feel the ache spreading and tightening like a vice around his abdomen. His hands were clammy, sweat was gathered on his forehead, and his breath came in shallow, uneven bursts. Heâs been through a lot through his life, the crash here and there, the pain of his soulmate breaking a bone, and stubbing her toes and all the random bruises she seems to get randomly. This felt like his body was on fire from the inside out, and it wasnât just the physical pain that made his chest tighten.
It was her, his soulmate.
As long as he could remember, he had shared pain with you. The worst when you had broken your leg. And heâs grown accustomed to the random flicker of discomfort over the years, wondering what kind of person you are. He imagined you being clumsy, maybe even a bit absent-minded, but he never minded. In fact, it had always made him smile, knowing that somewhere out there, you were living your life and through those little jolts of pain you felt close to him.
But today, he was the one that was causing you pain, pain like you both have never experienced before. That realisation made him nauseous. How much of this were you feeling right now? Were you suffering as much as he was, lying somewhere clutching your side in agony?
Carlos wiped the sweat from his brow and closed his eyes, trying to focus on anything but the pain. He thought of you, his soulmate.
You walked out of the hospital room, walking slowly. Since the pain you were experiencing isnât yours, pain meds will do nothing unless your soulmate takes some. You were clutching your side as you walked, not really paying attention, that and being the clumsy person that you are you bumped into someone while you were passing one of the waiting rooms. You stumbled before your knees hit the floor, hard. You winced, the same time someone else did.
âIâm so sorry are you alright?â An accented voice asked, you looked up to see a man with a moustache, he was dressed in red.
âYeah, yeah, Iâm sorry, I wasnât paying attention.â You replied instantly and took the manâs hand to stand up. You were unaware of the other Spanish eyes on you.
Carlos shared a look with his dad beside him, Carlos Sr. saw everything happen. He saw you fall and he saw his son wince when you did.
âPinch yourself.â He muttered to his son, not taking his eyes off you.
âW-what?â Carlos frowned at his fatherâs words, but he didnât wait Carlos Sr. pinched his sonâs arm and you let out an âawâ and held your arm where he pinched his son.
You frowned, not understanding what was going on with your soulmate.
âAre you hurt?â The man in front of you asked seeing how you held your arm.
âYeah, soulmate.â He lets out an âahâ in understanding.
Carlosâs eyes went wide when he saw you feel his pain, your hand went back to your side, the same he was holding, and even though he was still in pain he felt relieved, his heart much lighter and he couldnât help but smile. His dad nudged him with a smile of his own. And Carlos stood up and went to his friendâs side. Gigi was confused why Carlos was coming his way, and why he was smiling when he had to go in for surgery in less than two hours. But he wasnât looking at him, he was looking at you.
You only noticed him when he came to stand beside the man you bumped into.
âHi.â Carlos said simply and you frowned confused.
âHi?â It came out as a question, you looked between the two men in confusion. âIâm sorry but i-â
You were cut off when you groaned as a wave of pain hit you, the same time as the stranger in front of you winced and held his side, the same side youâve felt the pain. Gigi then knew what happened, and he too couldnât help but smile, he looked at Carlos Sr. for confirmation and he just gave him a proud nod.
You looked at the new man who was holding his side, your heart skipped a beat. Is he? Could he? This is almost too good to be true. You bit your tongue slightly.
âWhy are you biting your tongue?â The smooth voice of your soulmate asked, your eyes went wide, Carlos chuckled at the expression on your face. âHi.â
âHi.â This time it was breathless; your eyes didnât move from his face as you took him in. He also was waring a red shirt, but he also had a hat on top of his head, covering parts of his face but your eyes met his, nonetheless.
âIâm Carlos.â Carlos said and put his hand out for you to shake.
âY/n.â You said taking his hand, the rush you both felt is unexplainable. You felt warm, your heart was beating faster and you were tingling all over. âItâs really you.â
âItâs me.â Carlos said and you both didnât let go of each otherâs hand.
âCarlos, itâs better you go to your room.â Gigi said, once the nurse told them his room was ready. Carlos nods, but it takes him a few moments to let go of your hand and look away.
âCome on.â Carlos said and he leads you to his room following the nurse. Once the door is closed leaving the both of you alone, you turned to face him once more.
âI never thought Iâd meet my soulmate in a hospital of all places.â You said and smiled.
âReally? With how much you like to hit the floor, it was more than likely.â Carlos teased, he took off his hat and ran a hand though his hair, it was so fluffy you wanted to run your hands through it.
âYeah, sorry about that.â You mutter suddenly not meeting his eyes, feeling guilty for all the pain you caused him.
âHey, I didnât say I minded.â He said but you still refused to meet his eyes, so he went on. âEvery time I felt your pain, I knew you were out there somewhere, living your life and that I wasnât alone, even if once or twice the timing wasnât the best, is till cherished it.â
âReally?â You asked meeting his hypnotizing brown eyes.
âReally.â Carlos confirms, his smile is sweet and kind and warm.
âWhatâs wrong with your appendix?â You ask your hand itching to touch where you know he feels the pain most.
âI have appendicitis, will go into surgery in an hour or so.â Carlos tells you and feels himself riddled with guilt, knowing you felt the pain of his illness. âWhy are you here?â
âCame to check if itâs my pain or yours I was feeling.â You could see the guilt eating at him. âI rarely felt pain coming from you, youâve always been so careful, and here I am falling every day.â
âGuess we balance each other out.â Carlos said and you smiled.
âGuess so⊠also I discovered Iâm born without an appendix.â You suddenly tell him and smile up at him.
âSo weâll match then.â Carlos laughed at the coincidence. You both stayed silent for a long moment, just basking in each otherâs presence. âThereâs so much I want to ask you.â
âMe too.â You tell him honestly. âLike why are you wearing red? It looks like a uniform, same with the guy I walked into.â
âIt kind of is a uniform, itâs team kit, weâre required to wear it.â Carlos says and runs a hand over the back of his neck, heâll have to explain what he does to you.
âLike a sports thing?â You asked raising an eyebrow.
âYeah, exactly that.â You mouth forms an âoâ shape, and you nod to yourself.
âWhat sport?â
âFormula 1.â You rack your brain over if youâve heard of it before, Carlos saw the confused look on your face, he was about to answer your un asked question when someone knocked on the door. He called out for them to enter and in walked his dad and Gigi.
âYou have to get ready.â Gigi said and Carlos sighed he was just starting to talk to you, you smiled at him.
âIâll be here.â You promised and he nods.
âIâll introduce you then. This is y/n, my soulmate.â He said is so proudly, smiling at you, a smile that you shared. âThatâs Poerluigi, known as Gigi and this is my dad Carlos Sr.â
âOh, I didnât know you dad was here as well, itâs nice to meet you sir.â You say and go to shake his hand, Sr. smiles and shakes your hand.
âNice to finally meet you.â Carlos Sr. said with a smile he gave you a quick one-armed hug while your hands were still clasped together. âCarlos has been anxious to meet you lately.â
âPapa.â Carlos Jr. warned his dad, he didnât want any embarrassing stories to reach you before he even gotten the chance to officially sit and talk to you. Sr. winked at you and you giggled, Carlos gives you both a warning look, before you leave the room so they can prep him for surgery. Meeting your soulmate right before he has to go into surgery isnât really ideal. The three of you were allowed to wait in his room once Carlos was wheeled out.
âSo what exactly does Carlos do?â You asked, and that opened the flood gates. They told you about how Carlos Sr. is a rally driver, all his achievements and how Carlos decided to get into Formula 1, that heâs a driver for Ferrari. They showed you some videos of him on track, deciding not to share anything personal and leave it to Carlos to share and say what he wants to.
You in turn were asked about what you do, your hobbies, why youâre always getting bruised and just random talk. When Carlos is brought back in the room, heâs still unconscious, the doctor informed you that it went well and that heâll recover in no time. Carlos Sr. went out the room to call his wife and inform her of Carlosâ well-being.
when Carlos wakes up, youâre all kicked out of the room for the doctor to check on him, before youâre allowed back inside. The doctor reconfirms that Carlos is okay and well and that heâll be able to recover fast. Something he was happy to hear about.
âHow are you feeling?â Carlos Sr. asked his son.
âGood.â
âI think the pain meds havenât worn off yet.â You say, feeling not an ounce of pain through your connection. Carlos smiles at you and you smile back.
âYou stayed.â
âOf course, I did.â You say with a pointed look, heâd be stupid if he thought youâre about to leave him when heâs going into surgery, no matter how easy it is.
Gigi takes a picture of both Carlosâs for Instagram, for the fans. He did manage to snap a few of you both, but those were private, for now at least.
âWhere are you staying?â Carlos asked and when you gave him your hotel room, he laughed.
âWhat?â
âYou were so close all along.â Carlos says and he smiles thinking about how even if he was okay, you properly wouldâve met. âIâm staying there too.â
âGuess fate intended for us to meet one way or the other.â You smile at the thought, youâre mean to be, and you were bound to meet.
Carlos is required to spend the night, and his dad decided to stay with him. Meaning you and Gigi went back to the hotel, and agreed to meet in the morning so you could head back to the hotel together. In all of the rush of things, you forgot to ask Carlos for his number, but Gigi gave you his number for the meet up in the morning.
can you send me Carlosâ number? đ
Gigi
Sure đ
You ignore the winky face and save Carlosâ number once you received it.
Stop moving around so much đ€š
Soulmate â€ïž
sorry, I canât find a comfortable spot to sleep
ask the nurses for painkillers if youâre in pain
Soulmate â€ïž
Iâm alright, itâs not too bad
Do you feel pain? If you want I can take pain killers for you.
no Iâm good, itâs alright
I can feel you
Soulmate â€ïž

do you want me to pinch myself or something?
Soulmate â€ïž
No, now the tables are turned.
I guess so
Soulmate â€ïž

im sad that youâre the one in pain
Thatâs my job in the relationship!
Soulmate â€ïž

You felt a blush cover your face; you want to cover your cheeks even though he canât even see you.
I think thatâs enough for today
you should go to sleep.
Soulmate â€ïž
fine, Iâll let it slide
this time
see you tomorrow, hermosaâ
see you tomorrow.
The next morning you meet up with Gigi, who had a bag of clothes for both Carlosâs. the drive to the hospital you spent talking about unimportant things. When you got to the hospital, Carlos Sr. took the bag and went to change, and Gigi excused himself to go get coffee.
âHow did you sleep?â Carlos asked you.
âI slept alright, how about you?â You asked glancing to where they did the surgery.
âI slept better than ever, dreaming about you.â You couldnât fight the blush and turned your head to the side, biting your bottom lip to stop yourself from smiling. âDonât hide your face from me.â
Carlos moved so his feet were dangling off the bed, he wanted to walk up to you and pull you in close. He hasnât been able to hug you yet, and he wants to desperately. Carlos puts his hand out and you walk closer to him, you put your hand in his and he pulls you closer. Youâre standing between his legs; Carlos doesnât wait and wraps his arms around you in a hug. You stand frozen for a moment before you lean into him, your arms much closer around him than his around you. But you lean your head onto on his shoulder.
âI wanted to do that since I saw you.â Carlos mumbles, his voice coming out right next to your ear, making you shiver.
âOnly this?â You ask, now that youâre face is hidden, you found the confidence to say that to him.
âIf we werenât here, Iâd show you all the things I want to do to you.â Carlos whispers and kisses right under your ear, you close your eyes basking in the feeling of him around you.
âCould have waited until I wasnât here.â Carlos Sr. says coming out of the attached bathroom. You pull away from Carlos and your blush is back. Carlos only chuckles and rolls his eyes at his father.
Carlos changes and comes out, him and his dad start talking in Spanish, you sip on the coffee Gigi has gotten you checking your notifications on your phone. You look up when you feel the conversation getting a tad bit heated, Carlos is standing in a pair of jeans and his team kit his hat is on the bed.
âWhy are you in your team kit?â You ask confused, Carlos Sr. moved his hand in your direction, indicating to his son to tell you whatâs going on.
âIâm going to the race today.â Carlos said and you frowned.
âWhy? Are they making you go?â You asked seeing no reason for him to be anywhere, but back in the hotel and resting until his flight.
âNo, but I want to be there.â Carlos said simply and his dad muttered something under his breath.
âYou just got a surgery not even 24 hours ago.â You say standing up.
âI know, but like I told papa, I want to go be there for the team, and I wonât be doing an media or anything, it wouldnât be different than me staying in the hotel.â
âDoubt it.â Sr. mutters. You think for a moment, not liking this at all.
âOkay, but remember I feel your pain, at the first sign of it weâll be out of there.â You tell him with a pointed look, daring him to disagree.
âOkay, fine.â Carlos says and Gigi smirks.
âI like this one.â
Both Carlos Sr. and Jr. walked to the motorhome first, and you and Gigi followed after, you had a Ferrari with 55 hat on, your head was done as instructed as you followed the man in front of you. There has been a dull pain in your side as the pain killers wore off, but it wasnât too bad so you said nothing. Getting to the garage, Gigi sticks to your side and shows you around, Carlos is busy, which isnât the resting he said heâd do.
Gigi soon introduces you to Alex, Charleâs soulmate, you both talk about your soulmates. Unlike you she knew about Formula 1 before she dated Charles, but her knowledge was limited before that. She was super nice to you, as she explained a few things about the race, she also pointed out where Carlos is in the garage. You may have known him for so little time, but seeing him work, showed you a different side to him. Heâs very dedicated and clearly loves what he does.
You find yourself in the back of the garage in a staff only area, itâs like a cafeteria. Carlos was standing to the side eating from a plat in his hand while you talked with Charles and Alex.
Carlos drops his fork on the floor and in a reflex move he bends to pick the fork up. Your side suddenly flares up and you gasp clutching your side. Both Charles and Alex look at you in concern.
âItâs Carlos.â You tell them and move to get to your soulmate, when your clumsy self decides to hit the side of a table with your hip making you stumble and now hold your hip. Carlos curses and he moves to get to you only ending up hunched over from the strain he puts to his side.
âYou both, need to stop moving!â Carlos Sr. says and goes to see Carlos and make sure he hasnât popped a stitch or something. Charles and Alex were at your side pulling you up.
âYou are clumsy.â Charles says with a teasing smile, and Alex hits his shoulder, giving herself the same pain, but it makes him stop.
âMade for each other you two.â Carlos Sr. says and you and Carlos meet eyes, you both smile and chuckle, this recovery is going to be harder than you both expected.
It took you two weeks to allow Carlos to do any kind of kissing, and still, you stayed away from his side when you did. Carlos had you in his home to get to know you while he was in between races. He just came back from a race that he won, first winner of the season, that isnât Max. it took more than usual out of him, which was understandable. But now that he was cleared to race, here you were on his bed, him leaning on the headboard and you in his lap, kissing. I never felt this good. Every bite ever suck was felt by the two of you. It left you gasping and moaning for more. Both your lips are puffy and bruised, Carlos moves his lips to your neck in wet kisses before he finds your sweet spot that had you moving over him. He groans and starts sucking, so lost in the moment.
The next day you wake up first and head to the bathroom for a quick shower, Carlos hears the water and wakes up. He walks in the bathroom and stops when he sees himself in the mirror, he lets out a curse. You poke your head out hearing him curse.
âWhatâs wrong?â You ask and he turns to show you his neck, you burst out laughing. â
âBut it looks good on you.â Carlos almost whined and you couldnât help but continue laughing.
âWell did you come into here to stare at yourself in the mirror, or?â You asked raising an eyebrow before turning and getting back under the shower head. Carlos forgets all about the hickeys covering his neck, collarbones and chest. He did a number on you last night.
Â
Letâs just say it was easier for you to cover them than Carlos. The next race, the fans spotted them fast.
âLooks like you had a fun night.â Jensen commented while interviewing Carlos with a knowing smirks on his face. âWild girl?â
âUh no, I wouldnât sag that. I did them myself.â Carlos admitted his face warming up a bit. You watched the interview from the sides, your neckline and hair covering up all the bruises he left on you.
âDid them yours- oh, oh, congratulations, mate.â Jensen bro hugged Carlos, realising what he meant. âWe all had to learn where to stop.â
You rolled your eyes bit still smiled, Carlos already knew where to stop, evident by the fact that more bruises ended right under his neckline.
Â
It was all just a time thing, with your clumsiness and Carlosâs love of kissing. But your identical bruises caught on cameras, as well as you hitting something and Carlos reacting was a sign enough for everyone that youâre his soulmate.

"Did the love affair maim you too?"
Joel miller x f!reader
next part
Summary: Joel doesn't like you until he loses all his memories.
w.c: 14k> (longest piece I've written and my eyes are dry)
warnings: fluff, mention of amnesia, memory loss, ANGST and angst, and more angst because I love angst. There is smut but you already know I'm bad at writing that. No proof reading, I'm lazy, sorry.
a/n: hello! I got inspired by this "memory loss" type of story. It was supposed to be a one shoot, but I had to split the whole thing so another part is more likely to happen. I know there has been some drama surrounding writers and I want to say that every single person who writes and makes an art with that is amazing! Everyone who is reading this, please give creators here your flowers. With that being said, Happy reading or not đđ Reblogs and comments are always appreciated. (come on, talk to me)

Joel didn't used to hate women, but man, when he met you for the first time, you crawled under his skin. He had fun with you, making jokes, trying to get on your nerves. For his hell, everyone in Jackson loved you; after all, you were the nurse and the sweetheart. Always looking after everyone, always being sweet to everyone.
It was a sunny afternoon when you first arrived in Jackson, your kind demeanor and skilled hands quickly gaining the trust and admiration of the townsfolk. Joel watched from a distance with his arms crossed and a scowl on his face. He couldn't understand why everyone was so taken with you. To him, you seemed too soft, too gentle for the brutal world they lived in.
"Hey, Joel," Tommy called out one day, pulling Joel from his brooding thoughts. "We're heading out on patrol. You should meet the new nurse. She's something else."
Joel grunted in response, not bothering to hide his disinterest. He didn't need to meet you to know what kind of person you were. In his mind, you were just another naive newcomer who wouldn't last a week.
But fate had other plans. That very evening, a group of raiders attacked the outer perimeter. The town was thrown into chaos, and Joel found himself side by side with you, defending the walls. He couldn't help but notice your bravery and the way you handled yourself under pressure.
After the attack, as the town counted its injuries and losses, you worked tirelessly, tending to the wounded. Joel watched you, his irritation growing as he saw the way everyone fawned over you, thanking you for your care.
"Think you're some kind of hero, huh?" Joel muttered as he approached you, his voice laced with sarcasm.
You looked up at him, exhaustion evident in your eyes, but you offered a small, tired smile. "Just doing my job, Joel."
"Your job?" Joel scoffed. "You think patching up a few cuts and bruises is going to keep these people safe? This world doesn't care how sweet you are."
You met his gaze, unwavering. "And what would you have me do, Joel? Let them suffer? We're all trying to survive here, and we all have our roles to play."
Joel huffed and walked away, but your words lingered in his mind. Despite himself, he couldn't deny that you were right. Over the following weeks, Joel continued to watch you, his annoyance slowly giving way to a grudging respect. He noticed how you never backed down, how you always stood your ground, even when faced with his relentless jabs.
One day, during a particularly harsh winter storm, you and Joel were sent out on a supply run. The weather was brutal, and the path was treacherous. As the wind howled around you, Joel found himself instinctively moving closer, his protective instincts kicking in despite his irritation.
"Watch your step," he warned, his voice gruff.
You nodded, shivering against the cold. "Thanks, Joel."
As you both trudged forward, the wind picked up, and visibility dropped to almost nothing. You focused on placing one foot in front of the other, barely able to see Joel a few steps ahead. Suddenly, you heard a sharp crack and a thud.
"Joel!" you shouted, fear gripping your heart.
Rushing forward, you found Joel lying on the ground, unconscious, blood trickling from a gash on his forehead. He must have slipped on the ice and hit his head on a rock hidden beneath the snow.
Panic set in, but you forced yourself to stay calm. You needed to get him back to Jackson quickly. You checked his pulse, relieved to find it steady, then did your best to bandage the wound with the supplies you had. With great effort, you managed to lift Joel and drape him over your shoulder, carrying him back through the storm.
By the time you reached Jackson, you were exhausted and freezing, but you didn't stop until you got Joel to the infirmary. The doctors took over, treating his wound and monitoring his condition.
You sat by Joel's bedside, watching him closely. Hours passed, and eventually he began to stir. His eyes fluttered open, and he looked around, disoriented.
"Joel?" you said softly, leaning forward.
He turned his head to you, his brow furrowing in confusion. But then, a slow, almost lazy smile spread across his face. "Well, hello there, beautiful," he said, his voice low and smooth. "Did I die and wake up in heaven?"
You blink, taken aback by his words. "Uh, Joel, it's me. Do you remember what happened?"
Joel's smile didn't waver as he looked at you. "I remember everything... except meeting you before. Are you sure we haven't met in a dream?"
You glanced at Tommy, who had just walked into the room, and saw the same confusion mirrored on his face. "Joel," Tommy said cautiously, stepping closer, "do you know who I am?"
Joel's eyes shifted to Tommy, his smile fading into a look of mild frustration. "Of course I do, Tommy. You're my brother. But I'm more interested in getting to know this doll here."
Tommy exchanged bewildered looks with you. "Joel, this is⊠Ah. She's... well, you two never really got along."
Joel's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Really? Well, I must've been an idiot then because I can't imagine not liking someone like you."
Your heart raced, unsure how to respond to this flirtatious side of Joel, the same who hours ago was trying to crawl under your skin, the same one who had rejected you all this time. "Joel, you really don't remember me at all?"
Joel shook his head, still gazing at you with that same enamored look. "Not a thing. But I gotta say, I feel like I'm seeing you for the first time, and I like what I see."
Tommy scratched his head, clearly at a loss. "This is... something else. We need to figure out what happened to his memory."
You nodded, trying to process the sudden shift in Joel's demeanor. You knew the hit on the head did something to his memory, but you didnât know how to face it. "Joel, you hit your head pretty hard. The doctors said you might have some memory loss. Maybe this is part of it."
Joel reached out and gently took your hand, his touch sending a shiver down your spine. "Well, if forgetting the past means I get to start over with you, I think I can live with that."
You couldn't help but blush, feeling a mix of confusion and something else you couldn't quite place. Perhaps butterflies are flying all around inside your tummy. "We'll take it slow, okay? There's a lot you need to know."
Joel's grip on your hand tightened slightly, his eyes never leaving yours. "As long as you're the one teaching me, I'm all in."
Tommy coughed awkwardly, breaking the moment. "Alright, let's give Joel some time to rest and recover. We'll figure this out together."
You nodded, reluctantly pulling your hand away from Joel's. "Get some rest, Joel. We'll talk more later."
As you and Tommy left the room, you couldn't shake the feeling of Joel's gaze following you. Tommy put a reassuring hand on your shoulder. "We'll get to the bottom of this. Just... be careful. He's not the same Joel right now."
You nodded, your mind racing with the implications of Joel's memory loss and his sudden interest in you. The days ahead were sure to be challenging, but you couldn't deny the flicker of excitement at the thought of getting to know this new, more open version of Joel.
A version where he could get to know you and maybe, like, a new story waiting to be written with the both of you becoming friends, and not just acquaintances just having to tolerate each other for the communityâs sake.
The days following Joel's accident were a whirlwind of confusion and unexpected emotions dancing on your mind. Joel's flirtatious comments and affectionate demeanor were a stark contrast to the gruff, often combative man you had known before.
You had started to get used to feeling his nice demeanor towards you. You found yourself happier than before, smiling at the thought of him when you werenât with him, and he had become your last thought on your bed just before going to sleep, but you were aware his condition perhaps wasnât permanent and he was going to recover his memories of you, so you didnât want to take advantage of that, nor did you want to fall for Joel, not when the fear of him waking up one day and hating you as usual was a threat.
His recovery was slow but steady, and you spent a lot of time by his side, helping him piece together the fragments of his memory. Every interaction felt like walking on fire, with Joel's behavior making your heart flutter and your mind racing at thousand miles per hour.
As you were changing the bandage on his head, Joel watched you with a soft smile. "You know, you have the gentlest touch. It's like you're an angel sent to take care of me."
You blushed, avoiding his gaze. "I'm just doing my job, Joel. Making sure your pretty head heals properly."
Joel reached up and gently brushed a strand of hair behind your ear. "You're more than just a nurse to me now. I don't know what it is, but I feel this connection with you. Like we're meant to be."
You took a deep breath, trying to steady your emotions. "Joel, a few days ago I was nothing to you. You donât remember me, so please just focus on getting better."
Joel's expression softened; his eyes filled with earnestness. "I get it, but I can't help how I feel. This connectionâit's real to me, even if I don't remember our past."
You bit your lip, feeling a mix of frustration and affection. "Joel, you're vulnerable right now. Your mind is trying to make sense of everything, and it's confusing. We need to take things slow."
Joel nodded reluctantly, his hand lingering near your cheek before he pulled it back. "I trust you. Just know that I'm here, and I want to get to know you, past or no past."
You gave him a reassuring smile. "One step at a time, okay? Let's focus on getting you back on your feet first."
Just then, Tommy walked in, carrying a tray of food. He cleared his throat, causing you to step back from Joel. "Brought you some lunch, big brother. Howâre you feeling?"
Joel's eyes lit up at the sight of his brother. "Thanks, Tommy. I'm feeling better every day. And with this sunshine here, it's hard not to feel good."
Tommy gave you a knowing look, his concern evident. "Glad to hear it. Mind if I have a word with you outside?" he asked, looking towards you.
You nodded, feeling a mix of relief and anxiety. "Of course, Tommy."
As you stepped outside the room, Tommy closed the door behind you, his expression serious. "How are you holding up?"
You sighed, crossing your arms. "It's... complicated. Joel is so different now. He's kind, attentive, and he seems genuinely interested in me. But he doesn't remember our pastâhow much we clashed."
Tommy nodded, his face lined with concern. "I can see how that would be confusing. But you have to be careful. This might just be his way of coping with the memory loss. He's latching onto the one constant he has right nowâyou."
You looked down, feeling a lump form in your throat. "I know. I'm trying to keep my distance, but it's hard. He's... he's different, Tommy. And I can't deny that I'm starting to care for him."
Tommy placed a hand on your shoulder, his grip firm and reassuring. "I get it. But you need to remember that his memory might come back, and when it does, he could revert to the Joel we knew before. You have to protect yourself, too."
âAm I that unlovable?â you sighed.
Tommy's expression softened, and he shook his head. "No, you're not unlovable. Far from it. But the Joel we knew before... he had his walls up, and you know how stubborn he can be. If his memory comes back, he might go back to those old habits, those old defenses."
You nodded, feeling the weight of his words. "I understand. It's just... complicated."
Tommy gave your shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "Just take it slow. Don't rush into anything, and remember to take care of yourself too. You suffered a lot before arriving here."
You managed a small smile. "Thanks, Tommy. I needed that."
Tommy smiled back. "Anytime."
Returning to Joel's room, you found him sitting up, his eyes lighting up as you walked in. "Hey, everything okay?"
You nodded, forcing a smile. "Yeah, just had a chat with Tommy."
Joel's expression became thoughtful. "You know, I'm really grateful for everything you're doing for me. I can't imagine what it must be like, dealing with me like this."
You sat down beside him, taking a deep breath. "It's not easy, Joel, but it's worth it. You're worth it."
Joel reached out, taking your hand in his. "You know, even though I don't remember everything, I feel like I'm seeing you for the first time. And I like what I see."
Your heart raced, and you struggled to keep your emotions in check. "Joel, we need to take things slow. Focus on your recovery first."
Joel nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "I understand. But I can't help how I feel."
He has repeated the same phrase as before, and you couldnât help but feel yourself diving into a deep ocean for him.
You squeezed his hand gently. "One step at a time, okay?"
Joel's eyes held a determined glint. "One step at a time."
The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the Jackson settlement as you walked briskly toward the main gate, your medical bag slung over your shoulder. You spotted Joel waiting for you, his arms crossed and a scowl already etched on his face.
"You're late," he growled as you approached.
You rolled your eyes. "I'm five minutes late, Joel. I had to take care of a kid with a fever."
Joel grunted, clearly unimpressed. "We have a schedule for a reason. Being late puts us at risk."
"Don't lecture me about risk," you shot back, your patience wearing thin. "I know the dangers out there just as well as you do."
Joel's eyes narrowed. "Do you? Because sometimes it feels like you're too soft for this world. Always stopping to help every stray animal and sick kid."
"Excuse me for having a heart," you snapped. "Not everyone wants to live like a damn machine."
"Having a heart can get you killed," Joel retorted, his voice rising. "Out there, you need to be tough. Focused."
"And maybe if you lightened up a bit, people wouldn't be so scared of you," you shot back, your frustration boiling over.
Joel took a step closer, his jaw clenched. "I don't care if people are scared of me. I care about keeping them safe. And you, with your bleeding heart, make that harder."
You felt a surge of anger and hurt at his words. "You know what, Joel? Maybe the problem isn't me. Maybe it's you. Maybe you're so wrapped up in your own pain that you can't see anyone else's."
Joel's face darkened, a mix of anger and something elseâsomething like hurtâflashing in his eyes. "You don't know anything about my pain."
"And you don't know anything about mine," you replied, your voice trembling with emotion. "So maybe you should stop judging me and start seeing that we're all trying to survive in this hell together."
For a moment, the two of you stood there, the tension crackling between you like a live wire. Then Joel turned away, his shoulders stiff. "Let's just get this patrol over with."
You followed him out of the gate, your heart heavy with unresolved emotions. The silence between you was thick and uncomfortable, but neither spoke. The rift between you seemed insurmountable, and you couldn't see how things would ever change.
You woke up with a pain on your neck. You had fallen asleep on a chair next to Joelâs bed where he was now lay resting, his breathing even and steady. His recovery was going well, but the emotional landscape was far more complex and you wanted to take the risk to discover it. Â
You watched him for a moment, taking a mental picture of his face, the creases on his skin, how peaceful he looked like this. feeling the weight of uncertainty and guilt within you.
In that exact moment, Joel stirred, his eyes fluttering open. He looked around, his gaze settling on you with a warmth that made your heart skip a beat. "Hey, sunshine."
"Hey," you replied softly, mirroring his smile "How are you feeling?"
Joel stretched, wincing slightly but smiling nonetheless. "Better. Thanks to you."
You couldn't help but smile back, the tension easing a bit. "Just doing my job, Joel."
His eyes softened as he looked at you. "You're doing more than just your job. You've been taking care of me, looking out for me. I appreciate it."
You felt a warmth spread through you at his words. "It's what anyone would do."
Joel shook his head slightly. "No, not everyone. You're special, and I... I think Iâm starting to understand that."
You felt a flutter in your chest at his words, a mix of emotions swirling within you. "Joel, you don't need to say that. You're still recovering, and things are confusing right now."
Joel's gaze remained steady, his expression earnest. "I mean it. There's something about you... something that's been here all along, and I was too stubborn to see it."
Your heart ached with the weight of his words, knowing how complicated the situation was. "JoelâŠâ
âDid I care about you before?â he asked, gaze locked with yours.
You shook your head âNo. Not really.â
You shook your head, feeling the sting of the truth. âNo. Not really.â
Joel looked troubled, his brows knitting together. âI find that hard to believe. Because right now, I canât imagine not caring about you.â
You took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. âThings were different before, Joel. We didnât get along. You were... closed off, and I guess I was just someone who got under your skin.â
Joelâs expression softened with regret. âIâm sorry. For whatever I did to make you feel that way. I wish I could remember, but all I know is that right now, I see you, and I feel... connected.â
A memory from the past surged forward, vivid and painful. It was a cold evening in Jackson, just after a particularly difficult supply run. You and Joel had been at odds all day, and the tension between you was palpable.
"Why do you always have to be so damn difficult?" Joel snapped; his voice harsh as he slammed the door behind him.
You bristled at his tone, your own temper flaring. "Maybe because you treat me like Iâm incompetent! Iâm trying my best out there, Joel. Weâre supposed to be a team."
Joel scoffed, his eyes narrowing. "A team? Youâre a liability more than anything."
The words cut deep, but you stood your ground. "Thatâs not fair, and you know it. Iâm just trying to help, like everyone else."
Joelâs face twisted with frustration. "Help? You call what you do helping? Itâs a wonder anyone here can stand you."
The hurt was immediate and sharp, but you refused to let him see how much his words affected you. "At least Iâm trying to do something good. You just push everyone away."
Joel stepped closer, his expression dark. "Maybe thereâs a reason for that. I find it hard to believe anyone could actually love you."
The silence that followed was deafening. You stared at him, disbelief and pain warring within you. Without another word, you turned and left, unable to bear the weight of his cruelty.
Back in the present, you blinked, trying to dispel the memory. Joel was watching you closely, concern etched into his features. "Whatâs wrong?"
You forced a smile, though it didnât reach your eyes. "Just... remembering something."
Joel reached out, gently taking your hand. "I wish I could remember too. So, I could make it right."
You looked down at your joined hands, the warmth of his touch grounding you. "Maybe itâs better this way.
Joel squeezed your hand gently. "A fresh start sounds good. But I still want to know everything. About us, about what I did wrong. So, I can be better."
You nodded, taking the risk and pushing your luck.
You and Joel could become friends, right?
"You and I... we could become friends, right?" you asked.
Joelâs eyes softened even more, and he smiled. "Friends sounds like a good start. We can build from there."
You felt a surge of relief. "Friends it is, then."
The days passed, each one bringing closeness between you and Joel. He had got better, slowly starting to get back to his tasks. The community noticed the change in him, how he was more open and approachable. You often found yourselves working together, whether it was on supply runs or him visiting the infirmary when you were there working.
One afternoon, you were busy organizing medical supplies when Joel walked in, a smile spreading across his face as he saw you. "Hey, need any help in here?" he asked, leaning against the doorframe.
You looked up, smiling back. "Joel, what are you doing here? I thought you were out patrolling.â
Joel shrugged, stepping further into the room. "Finished early. Thought Iâd come by and see if you needed a hand."
He, in fact lied. He switched places with another guy just to spend time with you again. He could feel your fear irradiating but he wanted to get to know you better. He couldnât wrap his mind around the fact he didnât like someone like you and he wanted to change that. Â
You chuckled, shaking your head. " Sure, you can help me with these supplies. There are some boxes that need to be sorted."
Joel rolled up his sleeves and joined you, his presence filling the small room with a comforting warmth. As you worked side by side, you found yourself stealing glances at him, marveling at the changes in him. He was more relaxed, more open, and undeniably more attentive.
"You know," Joel said after a while, breaking the comfortable silence, "I think I like helping out here more than patrolling."
You raised an eyebrow, teasingly. "Oh? And why is that?"
Joel grinned, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Because I get to spend more time with you."
You blushed, focusing intently on the box in front of you. "Youâre just saying that."
"No, I mean it," Joel replied, his tone sincere. "I like being around you. You make everything better."
You felt a warmth spread through you at his words, and you couldn't help but smile. "Well, I like having you around too."
The truth was that stealing glances at him now felt like interlocking fingers without even touching his skin, there wasnât precisely a sexual tension or possessiveness over him, but a warm incandescent glow within every time he smiled at you. That was something you hadnât felt in so long, and this time felt so right yet so wrong.
You both continued to work in comfortable silence, the rhythm of your tasks interrupted only by the occasional exchange of smiles or a shared joke. The closeness was undeniable, and you could feel the lines between friendship and something more starting to blur.
One afternoon, you were out on a supply run together, scanning the area for anything useful. The sun was setting, casting a golden hue over the landscape. As you bent down to pick up some supplies, Joel suddenly appeared by your side, his proximity making your heart race.
"Need a hand?" he asked, his voice low and warm.
You looked up at him, finding it hard to concentrate with him so close. "Sure, thanks."
As you both worked, the conversation flowed easily. Joel's presence was comforting, and you found yourself opening up to him in ways you hadn't before.
"You know, I never really thanked you properly," Joel said, his tone serious.
"For what?" you asked, genuinely curious.
"For saving my life. For being there for me when I needed it the most," Joel replied, his eyes meeting yours with a sincerity that made your heart ache.
You shook your head, a soft smile on your lips. "You donât need to thank me, Joel. I did what anyone would do."
"Not anyone," he insisted, his gaze intense. "You went above and beyond. You always do."
You blushed, the warmth spreading through you once again. "Well, I care about you. I canât help it."
Joel's expression softened, and he reached out, gently brushing a strand of hair behind your ear. "I care about you too. More than I ever thought possible."
The moment hung in the air, filled with unspoken words and emotions. You could feel the pull between you, the undeniable connection that had grown stronger with each passing day.
"Joel, this is complicated," you whispered, your voice trembling slightly. "We need to take things slow."
"I know," he replied, his hand lingering near your face. "But Iâm not going anywhere, but Iâm not going anywhere.â
Joel's feelings for you had grown stronger. He found himself being smitten and completely in love by you, by your beauty, your strength and your soft heart. You were everything that was good with this world. Where everything and everyone was people with shadows dying out of melancholy, you were an angel wrapping your warm arms around him, making his world brighter. He had learnt how to savor the colors again.
As you continued your days together, Joel couldn't help but find ways to be close to you. He would always volunteer to accompany you on supply runs, ensuring you were safe and cared for. He would show up at the infirmary with small gifts â a flower he found on his patrol, a cup of your favorite tea, or a book he thought you might like. His gestures were always thoughtful and sincere, each one a testament to the depth of his feelings.
Joel couldn't take his eyes off you. You were kneeling in the ground, your hands deftly cleaning something you had found, your face serene and focused. Joel felt a swell of emotion, unable to keep it to himself any longer.
"You know," he began, his voice gentle, "I used to think this world had nothing left to offer. But then I met you."
You looked up, your heart skipping a beat at the intensity in his gaze. "Joel..."
He knelt beside you, his hand covering yours. "You make everything better. You've brought light into my life, and I can't imagine going back to the way things were."
You felt a mixture of warmth and apprehension. His words were everything you wanted to hear, yet the uncertainty of the situation weighed heavily on your heart. "Joel, this is all so new and complicated. We need to be careful."
Joel's grip on your hand tightened slightly, his eyes full of determination. "I know it's complicated, and I know we've got a lot to figure out. But I can't ignore what I feel. I want to be here for you, with you, through everything."
You took a deep breath, feeling the weight of his words. "I want that too, Joel. But we need to take it one step at a time."
He nodded, a soft smile spreading across his face. "I will make you fall in love with me," he said, his voice full of determination and warmth.
You couldn't help but smile back, feeling a mix of hope and apprehension. "You're quite confident, aren't you?"
Joel chuckled, his eyes never leaving yours. "When it comes to you, I am."
You smiled, feeling a flutter in your chest at his words. "Let's get back to Jackson," you said, standing up and brushing off your clothes. Joel stood with you, offering a hand to help you up.
As you made your way back to Jackson, the conversation flowed easily. Joel told you stories from before the outbreak, sharing pieces of his past he hadnât opened up about before. You found yourself laughing at his anecdotes, feeling a growing sense of connection.
When you finally reached the gates of Jackson, the sun was setting, casting a warm glow over the community. People greeted you both warmly, noticing the change in Joel's demeanor. He was more relaxed and more present, and it was clear to everyone that you had a positive influence on him.
Tommy approached, a knowing smile on his face. "Good to see you both back safe and sound."
Joel clapped his brother on the shoulder. "It was a good run. Found some useful supplies."
Tommy nodded, then looked at you. "And how about you? Everything alright?"
You smiled, feeling the warmth of Joelâs gaze on you on your face. "Yeah, everything's good."
As the evening settled in, you and Joel made your way to the communal dining hall. The chatter of the community filled the air, and you found a spot to sit together. Joelâs hand lingered near yours, his touch reassuring and steady.
Tommy, Ellie, and Maria soon joined you at the table. Tommy was carrying a tray laden with food, Ellie trailing behind him with a mischievous grin, and Maria gave you a warm smile as she took a seat.
"Good to see you two back," Elli said, setting down the tray and passing out plates. âHow was the run?" Ellie asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"It went well," Joel replied, his gaze briefly meeting yours before he continued. "Found some useful supplies and had some good company."
Ellie smirked, elbowing Tommy. "I bet you did."
You blushed, focusing on your plate as you filled it with food. Maria, ever perceptive, glanced between you and Joel with a knowing smile. "It's good to see everyone together," she said, her tone light and warm.
As you all began to eat, the conversation flowed naturally. Tommy and Maria talked about the latest updates in the community, Ellie shared stories from her day, and Joel occasionally chimed in with his dry humor, making everyone laugh.
At one point, Ellie leaned over to you, her voice low enough so only you could hear. "Joel's been different lately. In a good way. You've been good for him."
You looked at her, surprised by her observation. "I hope so. It's been... a journey."
Ellie nodded, her expression sincere. "Just keep being you. That's all he needs."
The meal continued, filled with warmth and laughter. Joel's hand occasionally brushed against yours, sending electricity down your body.
Just as you were starting to relax, a woman approached the table, her presence causing a ripple of unease. It was Lori, one of the women Joel used to date. Joel visibly tensed, his gaze dropping to his plate as Lori stopped beside him, her smile a mix of surprise and something else you couldn't quite place.
âJoel," she said, her voice smooth and confident. "I didn't expect to see you here."
Joel looked up, a flicker of recognition in his eyes. "Lori. Uh, hi."
Lori glanced around the table, her eyes settling on you for a moment before she looked back at Joel. "I was just passing by and saw you all together. Mind if I join?"
Before anyone could respond, Tommy jumped in. "Sure, why not? There's always room for one more."
Lori pulled up a chair and sat down, her presence adding a layer of tension to the dynamics. Joel seemed uncomfortable; his usual confidence was replaced by nervous energy.
"So, Joel," Lori began, her tone light but probing. "How have you been? It's been a while."
Joel cleared his throat, glancing at you briefly before answering. "Yeah, it has. I've been... good. Just busy with everything here."
Lori nodded, her gaze shifting between you and Joel. "I can see that. Looks like you've made some new friends." She said, bitterly, âThe last time I knew from you was when you left my house after our night, and then you hit your head and never spoke to me again.â
The table fell silent, tension crackling in the air. Joel looked uncomfortable, his gaze dropping to his plate. You could see the guilt and confusion in his eyes as he tried to process Lori's words.
"I'm sorry, Lori," Joel finally said, his voice low. "I don't remember much from before the accident. It's been... complicated."
Lori's expression softened slightly, but the hurt in her eyes remained. "I get that. But it still stings, you know? You just disappeared."
You felt a pang of empathy for Lori but also a fierce protectiveness over Joel. "It's been hard for him,â you said gently, trying to ease the tension. "Joel's been working hard to piece things together. He's different now, and we're all just trying to move forward."
Lori glanced at you, her expression unreadable. "I can see that, but it seems like you had taken advantage of the situation; he couldnât stand your ass before his accident, and suddenly you have him like a little puppy following you everywhere.â
Your heart drops to your stomach, feeling warm spreading to your cheeks.
Joel's jaw tightened, and he quickly interjected, his voice firm. "That's enough, Lori. You don't know what you're talking about."
Lori raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. "I just find it convenient, that's all."
Tommy leaned forward, his tone calm but authoritative. "Lori, we're all trying to move forward here. It's not fair to make accusations."
Ellie, always quick to defend those she cared about, added, "You weren't here to see what she did for Joel. She saved his life and has been helping him every step of the way."
Lori's gaze softened slightly, but the tension remained. "I'm sorry if I overstepped. I just needed to understand."
Maria nodded, her voice gentle. "We all get that, Lori. It's been a tough situation for everyone."
You took a deep breath, trying to steady your emotions. "It's okay. "You took a deep breath before continuing. âIâll take some fresh air,â you said, standing up, not even looking down at Joel, who seemed sad at your whole dementor.
You took a deep breath, trying to steady your emotions. "It's okay. Iâ" you paused, feeling the weight of the conversation pressing down on you. "Iâll take some fresh air," you said, standing up abruptly. Avoiding eye contact with Joel, who looked sad and concerned, you made your way outside.
The cool evening air was a welcome relief, and you walked a little way from the dining hall, finding a quiet spot to gather your thoughts. You leaned against a tree, closing your eyes and taking deep, calming breaths.
After a few moments, you heard footsteps approaching. You opened your eyes to see Ellie standing there, her expression filled with concern. "Hey, you okay?"
You nodded, managing a small smile. "Yeah, I just needed a moment. That was a bit embarrassing."
Ellie walked over and leaned against the wall next to you. "Lori was out of line. You've been amazing with Joel. Anyone with eyes can see that."
âSo, donât you think Iâve been taking advantage of him?â You asked, really concerned.
âWhat are you talking about? He is the one completely enamored by you.â She replied, laughing.
Ellie laughed, shaking her head. "What are you talking about? He is the one completely enamored by you."
You sighed, leaning back against the wall. "I know, but sometimes it feels like Iâm walking on eggshells. It feels like he is going to wake up from his trance and he will hate me again."
Ellie placed a comforting hand on your shoulder. "Listen, I've seen the way he looks at you. Heâs happier, lighter. Youâve brought out a side of him I didnât think existed. And trust me, if he didnât want this, heâd make it clear."
You took a deep breath.
âWhatâs the worst that could happen?â Ellie asked.
âMe, falling in love with him,â you answer.
âWhatâs the worst that could happen?â Ellie asked, her tone light but sincere.
You sighed, the weight of your fears pressing down. âMe, falling in love with him,â you answered quietly.
Ellie gave you a sympathetic look. "And why is that so bad?"
"Because," you began, struggling to put your feelings into words, "what if his memories come back and he realizes he doesnât feel the same way? Or worse, what if I fall in love with him and he changes back to the old Joel, the one who couldnât stand me?"
Ellie nodded, understanding. "That's a risk, sure. But you can't let fear keep you from living. You've been through so much together, and it's clear he cares about you deeply now. Maybe that won't change."
You bit your lip, the turmoil inside you reflected in your eyes. "I just don't want to get hurt, Ellie. And I donât want to hurt him either."
Ellie squeezed your shoulder. "I get it. But if you keep holding back, you'll never know what could be. Sometimes, you just have to take a leap of faith."
You let out a shaky breath, nodding. "Maybe you're right."
Ellie grinned. "Of course I'm right. Now, let's get back in there. Joel's probably worrying himself sick."
You smiled, feeling a bit more at ease. "Okay, let's go."
As you walked back into the dining hall, you found Joel still sitting at the table, his eyes lighting up when he saw your return. He stood up as you approached, his concern evident.
"You okay?" he asked softly.
You nodded, giving him a reassuring smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just needed a breather."
Joel looked relieved, and he gently took your hand. "I'm glad you're back."
The evening continued with easy conversation, and as you all eventually made your way out of the dining hall, Joel walked beside you, his presence a comforting constant.
"Thanks for dinner," he said softly as you approached your door.
"Anytime," you replied, feeling a warmth in your chest at his words. "It was nice, being with everyone."
Joel nodded, his eyes lingering on you. "It was. And I meant what I said today. Iâll make you fall in love with me.â
You chuckled softly, feeling a mix of nerves and excitement at his words. "You're really set on that, aren't you?"
Joel nodded, his expression serious but with a hint of a smile that made you go crazy. "I am. Because I know what I feel now, and Iâm not going to let it slip away."
You looked into his eyes, seeing the sincerity there. "Joel, this is new for both of us. We need to take it one step at a time."
He took a step closer, his hand gently brushing against yours. âAm I that unlovable?â
You blinked, taken aback by his question. "What? No, Joel, you're not unlovable at all. It's just... complicated."
Joel's eyes softened, and he took your hand in his, his thumb gently brushing over your knuckles. "I get that. But I need you to know that Iâm not going anywhere. Iâll wait as long as it takes."
You felt a warmth spread through you at his words. "I appreciate that, Joel. And I do care about you. A lot. It's just..."
"Scary?" he finished for you, his voice gentle.
You nodded.
Joel's expression turned thoughtful, and he nodded slowly. "Yeah, I get it. It is scary. But sometimes, the best things come from taking a leap of faith."
You took a deep breath, feeling the weight of his words. "Itâs not just about taking a leap. Itâs about making sure weâre ready for whatever comes next."
Joel squeezed your hand gently, his eyes never leaving yours. "I understand. And I'm ready to take it slow to give you the space you need. Just know that Iâm here for you, and Iâm not giving up on us."
You felt a mix of relief and trepidation, but Joel's unwavering support gave you strength. "Thank you, Joel. That means a lot to me."
He leaned in, resting his forehead against yours for a moment, his breath warm against your skin. "Weâll figure it out, one step at a time."
You nodded, closing your eyes for a brief second, allowing yourself to savor the closeness and the promise of what might come. When you opened your eyes again, you saw Joelâs smileâa smile that made you believe in the possibility of a new beginning.
"Goodnight," he whispered, his voice tender, holding back the desire to cupp your face and kiss you.
"Goodnight, Joel," you replied, your heart fluttering, feeling the same as him.
Now standing, this close, face to face, skins touching. One of you would give in before, and once that happened, there was no going to be a way to stop two hearts beating this fast.
Joel's eyes locked onto yours, the intensity of his gaze revealing the depth of his emotions. You could see the conflict within him, the longing that mirrored your own. His hand lingered near your face, his fingers almost brushing against your skin, his breath warm and steady.
The moment felt suspended in time, the air between you charged with unspoken words and electric anticipation. You both stood there, so close that you could feel the heat radiating from each other, your hearts racing in sync.
Joelâs voice was barely above a whisper. âI donât want to push you, but I also donât want to pretend like I donât feel this.â
You swallowed, your own voice trembling slightly. âI feel it too, Joel. But we need to be careful.â
Joel nodded, his expression a mix of desire and restraint. âI know. And I want to respect that. I just...â He hesitated, taking a deep breath as if trying to steady himself. âI donât want to miss this chance with you. Iâve never felt this way before.â
Joelâs gaze flickered between your eyes and your lips, the desire and uncertainty evident in his expression. His hand gently cupped your face. His touch was tender, as if he were afraid to break the spell that bound you both.
You felt your heart race, every nerve ending alive with anticipation. Joelâs fingers brushed softly against your cheek, and you could see the struggle in his eyes as he fought to keep his emotions in check. His breath grew shallower, and his eyes closed for a brief moment, savoring the closeness.
Slowly, he leaned in, his lips brushing against yours in a soft, tentative kiss. It was gentle at first, a whisper of warmth and affection that sent a shiver down your spine. The moment felt both exhilarating and comforting, the culmination of all the unspoken words and feelings that had been building between you.
You responded instinctively, your lips moving softly against his. The kiss deepened gradually, a sweet exploration of new and uncharted territory. His hands moved to frame your face, his touch firm yet gentle, as if he were cherishing every second of this newfound closeness.
When you finally pulled away, both of you were breathless, your eyes locking in a moment of shared understanding. The kiss had been more than just a physical connection; it was a promise of something more, something that neither of you fully understood yet but were both eager to explore.
Joelâs smile was tender and full of warmth. âIâve wanted to do that since I woke up that day at the infirmary,â he admitted softly, his eyes searching yours for any sign of hesitation.
You felt a blush rise to your cheeks at his confession. His words made your heart flutter even more, and you could see the sincerity in his eyes.
"I'm glad you did," you said softly, your voice barely above a whisper. "I've been feeling the same way."
Joel's smile widened, and he gently stroked your cheek with his thumb. "I didnât want to rush things or push you. But now... now that weâve shared this, I hope we can figure things out together."
You nodded, feeling a surge of hope and warmth. "I think we can. I want to see where this leads."
He took a deep breath, his gaze never leaving yours. "No pressure, just... being here with you."
You smiled, feeling a sense of calm and excitement. "I would like that.â
Joel nodded; his expression full of affection. "Good. Now, how about we get some rest? Tomorrow's a new day, and I want to spend it with you."
You felt a burst of warmth at his words and, inspired by the new closeness between you, you hesitated for just a moment before speaking up. âHow about we go inside for a bit? Iâve got some tea. It might be nice to relax and talk more.â
Joelâs eyes lit up at the invitation, and he nodded with a smile. âThat sounds perfect.â
You led the way to your house, the familiar surroundings now feeling different with Joel by your side. Once inside, you made your way to the kitchen and began preparing the tea. Joel watched you with an easy smile, clearly content.
As you waited for the water to boil, you and Joel chatted about lighter topicsâhow his recovery was going, plans for the community, and small anecdotes from your days. The conversation flowed easily, and the atmosphere between you was comfortable and warm.
When the tea was ready, you poured two cups and handed one to Joel. He took it with a grateful smile, his fingers brushing against yours. You both settled into a cozy corner of your living room, the soft light of a lamp casting a gentle glow around the room.
Joel sipped his tea, his gaze occasionally meeting yours. âThis is nice,â he said softly. âThank you for inviting me.â
Joel looked around your living room, the peaceful ambiance a stark contrast to the harsh world outside. He took another sip of his tea, then turned his gaze back to you. âYou know, before all this, I had a pretty normal life. A family, a daughter named Sarah. She was... everything to me.â
His voice carried a tinge of sadness, and you could see the pain in his eyes. You nodded, sensing the weight of his memories. âIâm sorry, Joel. I canât even imagine.â
Joelâs expression was somber but grateful. âThanks. She was everything. When the outbreak happened, she... she didnât make it. Itâs been hard, you know? Trying to keep going and make sense of it all.â
You felt a pang of sympathy for him, knowing how devastating such a loss could be. âI understand. I lost my fiancĂ© in a storm during the outbreak. We were caught outside, and he was... gone before I could do anything.â
Joelâs eyes softened with empathy. âThatâs so tough. Iâm really sorry you went through that.â
You took a deep breath, feeling the weight of your own memories. âIt was the storm that made me afraid of them. Every time the weather changes, it reminds me of that day. I try not to let it control me, but sometimes, itâs hard.â
Joel reached out, placing his hand gently on yours. âIâm sorry youâve had to deal with that. Itâs brave of you to face it every day.â
You looked at his hand on yours, feeling a comforting warmth from his touch. âItâs been a struggle, but having people like you around makes it a little easier.â
Joel nodded, his gaze steady. âWe all have our battles. But weâve found ways to keep moving forward. And maybe together, we can make those battles a little less daunting.â
+++++
The days turned into weeks, and your relationship with Joel grew stronger. The bond you shared was evident in the way you looked at each other and the ease with which you interacted. People in Jackson had noticed the change in both of you, and there was a sense of warmth and contentment surrounding your partnership.
One afternoon, as you were working in the infirmary, organizing supplies and checking on patients, Joel walked in. He had that familiar, easy smile on his face, and his presence was a comforting one amidst the hectic pace of the medical work.
âHey,â he said, leaning against the doorway. âThought Iâd stop by and see how youâre doing.â
You looked up, your face lighting up at the sight of him. âHey, Joel. Just busy as usual. Howâs everything on the patrol?â
Joel shrugged, walking over to where you were working. âNot too bad. But I figured Iâd come by and keep you company. I know youâve been spending a lot of time here.â
You nodded, your smile softening. âYeah, Iâve been needed here more often lately. But itâs good to see you.â
Joel moved closer, his hand reaching out to gently touch your arm. âIâve missed you. Itâs different when youâre not around.â
You felt a surge of affection at his words. âIâve missed you too. But this is important. People need help, and I want to make sure Iâm here for them.â
Joel nodded, understanding in his eyes. âI get it. Just remember to take care of yourself too. Iâd hate to see you running on empty.â
You chuckled, appreciating his concern. âIâll try. But having you here now brought a smile to my face.â
He smiled, his gaze lingering on you. âWell, Iâm glad to be here. Can I help with anything?â
You thought for a moment, then nodded. âActually, if you could help me restock some of these supplies, that would be great.â
Joel moved closer, his hand gently brushing against yours as he began helping with the supplies. The shared task created a comfortable silence between you, with only the soft sounds of organizing supplies filling the space.
As you worked side by side, Joelâs gaze lingered on you with an intensity that made your heart race. Without warning, he leaned in, his lips brushing softly against yours in a tender, affectionate kiss. The kiss was a sweet proof the connection you shared, and you responded with equal tenderness, savoring the closeness.
Just as the kiss deepened, the door to the infirmary swung open, and Dr. Ramirez walked in. Her eyes widened slightly at the sight of you and Joel but quickly masked her surprise with a professional smile.
âSorry to interrupt,â she said, her tone warm but slightly teasing. âI came to check on things and see if you needed any help.â
You and Joel pulled away; a bit flustered but smiling nonetheless. âWe were just finishing up,â you said, trying to sound casual. âEverythingâs in order.â
Dr. Ramirez nodded, her gaze flicking between you and Joel with a knowing look. âAlright, if you need anything, just let me know.â
As she moved to her office, you glanced at Joel, your cheeks still slightly flushed. âWell, that was embarrassing.â
Joel chuckled, his hand still resting lightly on yours. âYeah, but I guess itâs a good thing everyone know youâre my girl.â
You looked up at Joel, a smile tugging at the corners of your lips. "I suppose it is. Itâs nice to be able to be open about us."
Joelâs expression softened; his gaze warm. âIt is. And Iâm glad we donât have to hide anymore.â
You squeezed his hand gently, feeling a sense of contentment. âMe too. It makes everything feel more real, more... solid.â
Joel nodded, his eyes never leaving yours. âDo you want to have dinner at my place?â he asked.
You looked up at Joel, a smile spreading across your face at the thought of spending more time together. âDinner at your place sounds wonderful. Iâd love that.â
Joelâs face lit up with a warm smile. âGreat. Iâll make sure to have something good ready for us.â
You both made your way to Joelâs place, the evening air cool and crisp. The walk was filled with easy conversation and shared laughter, a comforting routine that had become a cherished part of your days.
When you arrived at Joelâs house, he opened the door and gestured for you to enter. The interior was cozy, with soft lighting and a welcoming atmosphere. He led you to the kitchen, where a simple but inviting dinner was laid out on the table.
Joelâs cooking was surprisingly good, and as you enjoyed the meal together, the conversation flowed effortlessly. You talked about everything and nothingâyour favorite memories, plans for the future, and the little things that made you both laugh.
After dinner, you moved to the living room, where Joel had set up a comfortable spot with blankets and pillows. You both settled in, the atmosphere relaxed and intimate.
Joel looked at you with a soft smile. âIâm really glad youâre here.â
You snuggled closer to him, feeling a deep sense of contentment. âMe too. Tonight has been perfect.â
He wrapped his arm around you, his touch warm and reassuring. âHereâs to many more nights like this.â
You smiled, resting your head on his shoulder. âIâd like that.â
As the evening wore on, you both talked about your past experiences and shared stories from before the outbreak. Joel spoke about his life before everything changedâhis family, the dreams he had, and the struggles he faced. You shared your own experiences, including the loss of your fiancĂ© and the challenges of adapting to this new world alone.
Joel listened intently, his hand occasionally brushing against yours as if to reassure you. âItâs amazing how much weâve both been through,â he said softly. âAnd yet, here we are.â
You nodded, feeling a deep connection. âYeah. It feels like weâre building something meaningful despite everything.â
After some time, you both decided it was time to call it a night. You stood up, stretching slightly as you gathered your things. Joel walked with you to the door, his presence a comforting constant.
As you reached the door, Joel hesitated for a moment, then gently grabbed your wrist, stopping you from leaving. He looked at you with a mix of hesitation and hope in his eyes. âI was wondering⊠would you like to spend the night here? Itâs been nice having you around, and Iâd love to have you stay.â
You looked at him, surprised but touched by the invitation. The warmth in his eyes and the sincerity of his voice made it hard to resist.
âIâd like that,â you said softly, a smile spreading across your face.
Joelâs expression brightened, and he pulled you into a gentle hug. âGreat. Letâs get you settled in.â
Joel led you to his bedroom, a space that felt both lived-in and welcoming. The room was simple but comfortable, with a bed covered in worn but clean linens and a few personal touches that spoke to Joelâs characterâphotos of his family, a well-loved guitar leaning against the wall, and a small stack of books on the bedside table.
He gestured to the bed with a slightly sheepish grin. âSorry, itâs not much, but itâs home.â
You smiled, feeling a sense of warmth and acceptance. âItâs perfect.â
Joel nodded, his expression softening. âIâm glad you think so.â
You both prepared for bed in comfortable silence, the familiarity of the routine helping to ease any lingering tension. Joel showed you where you could find anything you might needâextra blankets, a lamp for reading, and a small cabinet for any personal items you might want to keep nearby.
As you both settled into the bed, Joel turned off the lights, leaving only a soft glow from a nightlight on the dresser. He slipped under the covers, and you followed suit, the warmth and comfort of the bed providing a welcome respite from the dayâs events.
Joel turned toward you, his eyes meeting yours in the dim light. âIâm really glad youâre here,â he said softly, his voice tender.
You smiled, feeling a sense of peace as you settled closer to him. âMe too. It feels right.â
He reached out and gently took your hand, interlocking your fingers. The simple gesture was filled with meaning, and you could feel the connection between you growing stronger.
âGoodnight,â Joel whispered, his voice carrying a note of affection.
âGoodnight,â you replied, your heart fluttering with contentment.
A few days later, you and Ellie were seated at a table in the bustling dining hall, enjoying a well-deserved lunch. The room was filled with the murmur of conversations and the clinking of utensils, creating a comforting background noise.
Ellie, always full of energy, was animatedly talking about a new comic sheâd found. âYou wonât believe this,â she said, leaning in with a conspiratorial grin, âbut this one hero has the power to control weather. Iâm telling you, if I had that power, Iâd totally make it sunny all the time.â
You laughed, shaking your head. âSounds like youâve been reading too many comics. But I suppose a bit of sunshine wouldnât hurt.â
Ellie grinned, grabbing a bite of her sandwich. âTrue, true. But, seriously, how are things going with Joel? You two seem... really happy.â
You smiled, feeling a warm flush at her question. âWe are. Itâs been nice, spending time together. Heâs been really supportive, and I think weâre figuring things out.â
Ellieâs eyes lit up, clearly pleased with your answer. âIâm glad to hear that. Heâs been a lot happier since you two started spending more time together. Itâs like heâs found a new spark.â
You nodded, feeling a sense of contentment. âItâs been good for both of us. Weâre still taking things one step at a time, but it feels right.â
Ellieâs expression turned thoughtful. âI know itâs been rough with everything thatâs happened, but itâs nice to see people finding happiness again. Especially you and Joel.â
You appreciated Ellieâs support and her ability to lighten the mood. âThanks, Ellie. That means a lot.â
Ellie glanced around the dining hall, then back at you with a mischievous grin. âSo, are you guys planning any big adventures together? Or just sticking to the small stuff for now?â
You laughed softly. âWeâre sticking to the small stuff for now. Just enjoying the moments, we have together.â You paused, âIâm still a little bit scared of him waking up hating me again.â
Ellieâs eyes softened with understanding. âI get that. Itâs natural to be scared after everything youâve both been through. But youâre doing great, and Joel is different now. Heâs not going to just wake up one day and hate you.â
You sighed, a mixture of relief and lingering concern in your expression. âI hope youâre right. Sometimes, itâs hard to shake that fear, especially after everything thatâs happened.â
Ellie nodded thoughtfully. âI think you both just need to keep talking and being honest with each other. The more you communicate, the more youâll build that trust. And remember, itâs okay to have those fears. It just means you care.â
You managed a small smile. âThanks, Ellie. Itâs reassuring to hear that.â
Ellie grinned and took a bite of her lunch. âAnytime. And if you ever need someone to talk to or just need a distraction, you know Iâm here. We can have a comic marathon or something.â
You laughed, feeling the warmth of Ellieâs support. âThat sounds like a plan. Iâll definitely take you up on that.â
As you and Ellie finished your lunch, you stood up to clear your plates, the conversation easing into a comfortable silence. Just as you were about to head to the serving area, you suddenly felt two strong arms wrap around your middle, pulling you into a warm embrace. A soft, affectionate kiss was placed on your cheek, making you feel a surge of happiness and surprise.
You turned your head slightly, finding Joelâs smiling face close to yours. âHey there,â he said, his voice full of warmth and affection. âI didnât mean to interrupt, just wanted to steal a moment with you.â
Ellie watched with a grin, clearly pleased with the sight. âLooks like someoneâs got a fan club.â
You blushed slightly, leaning into Joelâs embrace. âHi, Joel. I was just catching up with Ellie.â
Joelâs gaze softened as he looked at you, his hand gently resting on your side. âI figured Iâd come and see how you were doing. Plus, I wanted to see if youâd be up for a walk later.â
You smiled, feeling content in his arms. âA walk sounds nice. Iâd love that.â
Joel nodded, his eyes twinkling with excitement. âGreat. Letâs finish up here and head out.â
You and Joel exchanged a tender glance before you both started to clear your plates. Ellie gave you both a playful nudge. âIâll leave you two to your walk. Enjoy, and remember, Iâm always here if you need me.â
+++++++++++++
âSo?â you asked, as Joel was smiling in complete silence.
âSo what?â he asked without erasing that smile from his face.
âArenât you going to talk?â
Joel chuckled, his smile widening. âI guess Iâm just enjoying the moment. Itâs not every day I get to be this content.â
You raised an eyebrow, playfully nudging him. âOh really? And whyâs that?â
He looked at you, his gaze tender. âBecause being with you like this, just walking and talking, itâs exactly what Iâve wanted. Itâs simple and perfect.â
You smiled, feeling a warm glow from his words. âWell, Iâm glad youâre enjoying it. So, whatâs on your mind?â
Joel glanced around, taking in the scenery before meeting your eyes again. âI was thinking about how nice would be if you go to my place tonight. Ellieâs gonna spend the night with Dina and I want to spend the night with you.â
âThat sounds wonderful,â you said with a smile. âIâd love to spend the night with you.â
Joelâs face lit up with a genuine smile, and he took your hand, gently squeezing it. âGreat. I was hoping youâd say that.â He leaned and kiss you on the lips, âNo I gotta go helping Tommy, see you later, sunshineâ
You pouted, grabbing his hand before he could go anywhere âWait? That was all?â
Joel chuckled softly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. âI thought Iâd surprise you with the invitation, and I wanted to make sure you knew how much I enjoy spending time with you.â
You raised an eyebrow, playfully teasing. âWell, I didnât realize the evening was just an invitation and a kiss goodbye.â
Joel grinned, clearly amused. âAlright, alright. If you want more, I guess Iâll have to come up with something better.â He pulled you into another kiss, this one longer and more lingering.
You smiled against his lips as you pulled away. âThatâs more like it. But seriously, I was looking forward to spending time with you.â
Joelâs gaze softened, and he cupped your face gently. âIâm looking forward to it too. Just had to help Tommy out with something. I promise, Iâll make up for it.â
You nodded, still holding onto his hand. âIâll hold you to that. See you later, Joel.â
He gave you one last smile before heading out, leaving you with a warm feeling and the anticipation of the evening ahead.
+++++++++++++
When you arrived at Joel's place, the sun had just dipped below the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow across the surroundings. Joel greeted you at the door with a welcoming smile and a quick, affectionate kiss.
"Hey, glad you could make it," he said, taking your coat and hanging it up. "Iâve got a few things planned, but we can start with something simple if youâd like."
You stepped inside, feeling the comforting familiarity of Joelâs home. âIâm sure whatever youâve got planned will be perfect,â you replied, smiling at him.
Joel led you into the living room, where heâd set up a cozy area with blankets and cushions. The room was softly lit by lamps, and the atmosphere was inviting and warm. A few candles were flickering on the coffee table, casting a gentle glow.
âI figured we could start with some dinner and then maybe just talk or something elseâ Joel suggested, his eyes reflecting the soft light.
You nodded, feeling content with the simple but thoughtful setup. âThat sounds great.â
Joel moved to the kitchen and returned shortly with a plate of homemade foodâsomething comforting and hearty. He set it down on the table, then joined you on the couch.
As you both ate, the conversation flowed easily, just like it had during your earlier moments together. You talked about your days, your plans, and even some light-hearted topics. Joelâs presence was reassuring, and you felt completely at ease.
After dinner, Joel suggested putting on some music. He rummaged through his collection, finally settling on a classic that he thought youâd enjoy. You both snuggled up under the blankets, the music playing softly in the background.
Joel occasionally glanced at you, his hand resting casually on your knee. The song played, but most of your attention was focused on the comfort of being next to him, the warmth of his touch, and the quiet contentment that filled the room.
Joel turned to you, his gaze tender. âYou know, Iâm really glad weâre doing this. Just being here with you, it feels right.â
You smiled, leaning into him. âI feel the same way.â
Joelâs hand moved to gently brush your hair back from your face. âWhatâs your biggest fear?â he asked out of the blue?
You sighed, leaving his gaze for a moment âYou waking up and forgetting you love meâ
Joelâs brow furrowed slightly at your answer, a mix of concern and curiosity in his eyes. âWhy would you think that? I donât see any reason why that would happen.â
You took a deep breath, feeling vulnerable as you shared your fear. âItâs justâŠ.you knew I told you we didnât get along before, in fact you hated me, Joel.â
Joelâs eyes softened as he listened to your concern. He took a moment before responding, his voice steady and reassuring. âI know things werenât easy between us before. And yeah, I didnât handle things the best way back then. But thatâs in the past. What matters now is how we are right now.â
He reached out and gently took your hand in his. âThe truth is, Iâve changed. And I see you differently now. I see you for who you are, and I realize how much you mean to me. Whatever those old feelings were? Theyâre gone. What we have now is real, and Iâm committed to it.â
You looked into his eyes, searching for the truth in his words. âBut what if one day you wake up and those old feelings come back? What if something changes?â
Joel shook his head, his gaze intense and full of conviction. âI donât believe thatâll happen. Iâve come to understand how much you mean to me, and how deeply I care about you.â
He squeezed your hand gently, his expression earnest. âIâm not going to let those fears control us. Weâre building something strong, and I want to keep building it with you. Iâm here, and Iâm committed to making sure we have a future together.â
You felt a wave of relief and warmth at his words. âThank you, Joel. That really means a lot to me.â
Joel smiled softly, leaning in to kiss your forehead. âIâm glad. And if you ever need reassurance, just ask. Iâm always here to remind you of how much you mean to me.â
You nestled closer to him, feeling a deep sense of comfort and closeness. The fears that had been troubling you began to fade as you focused on the warmth of his embrace and the sincerity in his voice.
Joelâs gaze lingered on yours, his eyes filled with a mix of tenderness and resolve. Slowly, he leaned in, his lips brushing softly against yours. The kiss was gentle at first, a careful exploration of newfound trust and affection.
As the kiss deepened, it became more passionate, conveying all the emotions and reassurances that words alone couldnât fully capture. Joelâs hand cupped your face, his touch warm and reassuring as he pressed closer.
You responded to the kiss, your own hands moving to rest against his chest, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. The kiss felt like a promise, a shared understanding of where you both stood and where you hoped to go.
When you finally pulled away, both of you were breathless, your foreheads touching as you gazed into each otherâs eyes. The room seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of you wrapped in this moment of closeness.
Joelâs smile was soft, his voice barely more than a whisper. âI needed to do that. To show you just how much you mean to me.â
You smiled back, your heart full. âI needed that too.â
Joel gently brushed a strand of hair from your face, his touch lingering.
After that, everything happened in a flash. Neither of you realized when you removed your clothes, but there was too much desperation in your touch; you wanted to discover how his fingers could leave a mark on you, tracing invisible lines across your body.
He kissed you again, slipping his tongue past your lips, gasping when he felt your fingers running your fingertips across his bare chest, tracing the lines of a map leading to where you couldnât stop.
With one of your hands, you pulled him down by his neck to hold you against your lips again. Once you tasted them, you couldnât get over the taste of them over yours, and you couldnât get over the whimpers he left in your mouth.
He was hovering over you, giving you a passionate kiss. He was between your legs, exactly where you wanted him.
He pulled his lips away from yours for a moment to glance down at you. To appreciate the features of your face and the nature of your body to admire the features of your face, and the nature of your body being displayed just for him right now. You felt the crimson color rushing up to your checks and for a moment you felt embarrassed under his stare, but he smiled at you.
âYou look beautifulâ. He swallowed hard, stroking your cheek with his thumb.
His hands on your tights only increased the sparks in the place you wanted him the most, you wanted to follow the path even when you knew it was leading to a treacherous destination.
You continued kissing slowly as he caressed your thighs with his gently touch, as he wanted to worship your body and devour every single sound coming out from your mouth. He kissed you down over your neck, kissing, nipping your skin between his teeth.
And God, he loved the way you were making him feel. The fact this time was different to everything you had experiencing before. At this moment, you werenât driving for only passionate reasons, but for caring feelings for each other. You werenât in a rush and that turned him on. He was hard for you and he wanted to meet where religion was, between your thighs.
This time he was making love because he had drowned himself on your religion.
Both of you gasped aloud the moment he began to push slowly inside you. His hands reached for yours, interlocking them as he kissed you softly, muttering, "You're so beautiful like this". He was mesmerized by the way you were nervously giggling and cocking your head back in delight. He bit your neck, prompting your hands to move up to his neck, and his hands ran down your entire body without a layer of clothing on you, focusing on every thrust and diving deep to ensure he was making you happy.
You opened your eyes and stared back at him, entirely focused on you. You couldn't help but roll your eyes as his hands massaged your breasts while he continued to devour your lips. Your back arched, followed by a moan against his lips. Every thrust felt so fantastic, you couldn't help but think you were in the celestial realm You could tell you were getting closer as you squeezed him and kept your gaze fixed on each other. He pushed harder, one hand caressing your cheek and the other gripping your knee to guarantee you fell apart.
The noises you made drove him insane, as he felt himself reaching the edge of the cliff. He wanted to stare at you under him as you came and with a loud gasp, he did it at the same time falling over your exposed chest, your heartbeats mingling.
You moaned softly beneath him, and Joel raised his head to look at you, flashing him a cute smile he hadn't tired of, as you kissed him on the lips.
"I love you so much," he replied, gazing at you with admiration. âIâm so in love with you.â
I love you.
Iâm so in love with you.
Those three words were echoing in the shadows of your mind. Your expression softened and you felt your blood rushing. You were sure they had had an impact on you.
âAnd I love you so muchâ you whispered back, your voice trembling slightly with the depth of your emotion.
Joelâs expression softened even further, and he brushed a tender kiss against your lips once more. The connection between you was undeniable, a blend of passion and deep affection that had grown stronger with each passing day.
You rested your head on his chest, feeling his heartbeat steady and strong beneath you. The world outside seemed distant and unimportant in the warmth of his embrace. For a moment, everything felt perfect, and you allowed yourself to fully embrace the love and happiness you had found with Joel.
Joel gently ran his fingers through your hair, his touch soothing. âWeâve come a long way, havenât we?â
You nodded, your eyes closing as you savored the moment. âYeah, we have. And I wouldnât change a thing.â
Joelâs arms tightened around you, pulling you closer. âNeither would I. Hereâs to more moments like this, and to whatever the future holds for us.â
You smiled, feeling a deep sense of contentment and anticipation for what was to come. âTo us,â you agreed, your heart full of love and hope.
+++++++++++
The soft morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a gentle glow over the room. You stirred, waking up with a smile on your face. The previous nightâs intimacy and love still lingered, and you turned to look at Joel. He was sleeping peacefully beside you, a contented expression on his face.
As you watched him, you felt a surge of happiness and affection. You reached out, gently brushing a strand of hair from his forehead, your heart full of love for him.
But as Joelâs eyes fluttered open and he met your gaze, his expression shifted dramatically. His sparkly brown eyes filled with love, widened in horror, and a look of confusion and fear crossed his face. He pushed himself up, scrambling back slightly.
âWhat...What the fuck are you doing here?â he asked, his voice trembling with a mix of shock and fear.
You were taken aback, your smile faltering as you tried to make sense of his reaction. âJoel, whatâs wrong?â
No. It couldnât be that, right?
Joelâs eyes were filled with a pained realization. âOh my god, you came to my house trying to seduce me into sleeping with you?â
You felt a sharp pang of pain at his words, and your heart dropped. The warmth you had felt earlier was replaced by a cold, unsettling feeling.
âNo, Joel, thatâs not what happened,â you said, trying to keep your voice steady despite the hurt. âWeâre in loveâ
He chuckled. âIn love? Me in love with you? I could neverâ he said.
Your chest tightened, and the hurt in Joelâs words felt like a physical blow. You struggled to keep your composure, fighting back the tears that threatened to spill.
âJoel, you canât mean that,â you said, your voice shaking. âLast night, you said you loved me. We shared something real.â
Joelâs expression was a mix of confusion and pain. âI donât remember saying that. Last night I was with Loriâ
Thatâs it. You were back at were you used to be.
The weight of Joelâs words hit you like a punch to the gut. You felt a mix of betrayal and heartache, as the realization sank in. The warmth and affection from the night before felt like a cruel illusion.
âSo, what? Youâre saying last night meant nothing?â you asked. The tears you had been holding back finally spilled over. âYou really donât remember? You donât remember how we talked, how you told me you loved me?â
âI donât love you.â He said, sternly.
âBut Iâm your sunshineâ you sobbed.
Joelâs laughter pierced through you like a blade, and you could barely stand the weight of the realization. Each word he spoke seemed to tear away at the fabric of your heart, unraveling the dream youâd clung to so desperately.
The room felt colder, the air heavier, as you fought to control your sobs. Every touch, every shared moment that had once seemed so real was now reduced to nothing more than painful echoes of a memory that never truly existed.
He didnât remember the stealing glances, the kisses, the touches and the promises than now seemed to fade with the cruel destiny meeting the ending meant to be.
You had taken a risk at falling in love with the version of a Joel who loved you back, and he didnât exist anymore. He had faded just when he had told you he loved you.
He didnât remember falling in love with you, he didnât remember all the time you spent together, and he didnât remember loving you, but you didnât think this would hurt this much.
âJoelâ you said, pleading him to remember.
âOut.â He said, gritting his teeth. Â
You stood there, the pain in your chest almost unbearable, as Joel's harsh words echoed around you. The warmth and affection you had shared just hours before now seemed like a cruel illusion, shattered by his denial.
"Joel, please," you said, your voice trembling. "Just think about everything we shared. It was real."
Joelâs eyes were hard, and he crossed his arms defensively. âI don't remember any of it. And I can't fake feelings I don't have.â
You felt a deep, profound sadness, the weight of his words making it almost impossible to breathe. The life you had envisioned, the love you had felt, seemed to slip away like sand through your fingers.
âPlease, justââ you tried to reason with him, but the look in his eyes made it clear that any further pleading was futile.
Joelâs expression remained firm, a mix of regret and frustration. âEverything I know is that you took advantage of me.â
The sting of Joel's words cut deep, each one echoing the finality of a dream you had cherished. The accusation of taking advantage of him felt like a betrayal, intensifying the emotional agony you were already struggling with.
You took a shaky breath, trying to hold onto the fragments of your composure. "Joel, I never did that. We have somethingâ"
Joel interrupted; his voice cold. "I donât want to hear it. You need to leave. Now."
The finality in his tone left no room for argument. With a heart heavy with sorrow, you nodded, unable to find the words that might change his mind.
You were only on one of his shirts, trying to find your clothes.
You stumbled through the room, your movements disjointed as you searched for your clothes. The pain and confusion made every action feel like an immense effort. Joelâs gaze remained fixed on you, his face a mask of distant resolve.
You found your jeans, but it was crumpled and stained, and you struggled to put it on with trembling hands. The fabric felt rough against your skin, a stark contrast to the comfort you had felt just hours before. You glanced around for your other belongings, the room now feeling foreign and unwelcoming.
âI... I canât find my blouse,â you said again, your voice a whisper filled with desperation and trembling.
Joelâs eyes flicked to you briefly before he spoke with a tone that brooked no argument. âDonât worry about it. Just wear my shirt. I wonât wear it again.â His voice was cold and icy, not more softness as when they used to whisper things on your ear.
The coldness in his words made it clear that there was no room for negotiation or further conversation. You nodded numbly, the shirt you were already wearing now feeling like a heavy shroud setting your skin on fire.
As you finished dressing, you glanced around the room one last time, trying to memorize the space you were leaving behind. The sight of the room, so filled with the promise you fooled yourself onto believing.
There was an intensified the ache in your chest.
Joel stood by the door, his posture rigid as if he were bracing himself for something. His eyes didnât meet yours, focusing instead on some distant point. The silence between you was heavy with the weight of the broken bond that never existed.
As you pulled on your shoes, your heart cracked completely sank in deeper. You looked up, meeting Joelâs eyes one last time.
âJoel, Iâm sorry for everything,â you said softly, your voice barely above a whisper. âI never meant to cause any harm. I just wantedââ
Joel cut you off with a slight nod, his face still set in a hard expression. âJust go. Please.â
You swallowed hard, the lump in your throat almost making it impossible to speak. The intensity of Joel's gaze, filled with a mixture of pain and indifference, made it clear that any further words would be futile.
With one last, lingering look at him and the room that just yesterday had witnessed three empty words that now didnât meant anything, you turned and made your way down the hall. Each step felt like a weight lifting off your shoulders, even as the burden of what you were leaving behind pressed heavily on your heart.
As you reached the front door, the cool morning air hit you, providing a stark contrast to the warmth you had felt just hours before. The quiet outside was a jarring reminder of the world that continued, indifferent to the personal turmoil you were experiencing.
With every step, you tried to reconcile the reality you faced with the memories of what you had thought was true, a momentary field of dreams. The pain was sharp and immediate. How would you continue life after losing another love?
