Has anyone seen this show Perfect Harmony? Like, it’s so dumb, but damn it the cast is great.

Bradley Whitford. Anna Camp. Rizwan Manji. And fuckin’ Geno Segers.

That’s right. Chayton fucking Littlestone moved to Kentucky and became a small town choir singer.

15 Random Thoughts Watching Perfect Harmony

This show is a train wreck in the best possible way. Yes, it is. 

Ginny is a waitress at the Moonbow. She has a son named Cash and is struggling to make ends meet after divorcing Wayne. She wants to move on but isn’t sure how to do it. She feels like a failure sometimes and she often lacks gumption, but she’s a sassy southern belle with a large heart. (And possibly a crush on loveable curmudgeon Arthur? The jury’s still out on that. I ship it.)

Finally, there’s Arthur. Seriously, Whitford can get it and he seems like he’s having so much fun playing this character, especially after the brutality of “The Handmaid’s Tale.” Arthur is grumpy, and that’s putting it mildly. He has every right to be after losing his beloved wife. His chemistry with the other characters is off the chart. This is his show. His and Ginny’s and it’s adorable and I SWEAR THEY BETTER GET TOGETHER.

Ahem, anyway, carry on. Obviously, I should mention that spoilers abound. Read at your own risk.

I, strangely, love the beginning of this show. Showing Arthur at his lowest point as he’s about to commit suicide is, I think, a rather bold beginning for a sitcom if we’re being honest. It’s not quite the same existential feeling as watching the whole of “Fleabag,” but it’s still different and I applaud NBC for letting the creators do that.

“Diet Vin Diesel, stand up straight so we can hear you. Porno Mr. Rogers, do you have a bug in your ear?” “No.” “Then don’t do that.”

“Oh, dang. He didn’t get to finish.” “Hallelujah.” There is such a wittiness to this show, I can’t even begin to describe it.

The fact that Whitford can pull off a pair of bedazzled butted sweatpants emblazoned with glittery red “Lady Wildcats” is wonderful.

Slapping an atheist into a church choir is also great.

The comedienne co-starred in the now cancelled NBC series, Marry Me. She played Casey Wilson’s eccentric but well-meaning neighbor. The character eventually becomes romantically involved with woman played by Ana Ortiz.
