Alright everyone, I NEED you to go watch the new live action avatar.

Because despite everything, and I never thought I’d say this, it was good.

Now, don’t expect it to be exactly like the cartoon, because unlike it’s source material it has a darker undertone (which makes sense given it’s a live action, and not a cartoon catered towards a younger audience) but other than that I think it’s a overall pretty great adaptation. It reorders and removes and changes things but nothing feels unnecessary for the shift in theme they made.

Needless to say, go into it with an open mind and not so cemented in the idea everything needs to stay the same. If everything was the same there would be no need for a live action. The only difference would be that you can see the actors and at that point just go watch the original again. The adaptation took the source material and molded it into something different, but definitely enjoyable, and with people set in hating it for frankly obstinate reasonings, it’s not going to get a season two. And that would be a travesty because I for one, am dying to see where they takes this.

hey so i know everyone is out here giving their opinions about the new netflix avatar and i'm not special but. I just don't understand how they have such a large budget and netflix really wanted this to do well and be the new got but the writing is so awkward. It had potential. Effects are cool and I love Zuko's sass. but why are they talking like that t-t get better writers

I could have done better. like do i have any professional writing experience? no. but could i have done better? yeah.

I think i know whats bugging me about the wednesday show, its the lack of platonic relationships

like besides wenclair there really arent that many friendships, especially between the male and female characters, theres always some sort of crush involved its weird. Dont get me wrong i like the show, just that aspect throws me off

Alright then, tell me you’ve never been in a healthy romantic relationship without telling me you’ve never been in a healthy romantic relationship.

Okay seriously, you’re allowed to dislike a ship but don’t try to use this argument. People don’t suddenly stop being friends when they’re in a romantic relationship that was built on a strong foundation of platonic love. I understand in a society heavily based on heteronormativity and “romantic feelings > platonic love” narrative it might be a little jarring to some (this is sarcasm because it’s really NOT that hard to get)… but like. The best relationships I’ve been in I was still homies with my partner throughout, doing stupid shit together and enjoying their company and whatnot you know? If it’s a good, healthy relationship then adding romance to the mix doesn’t suddenly wipe away the friendship said relationship was built upon. You can and should be friends with your partner- amazing, I know.

Now, everyone repeat after me: friendship and romance are not mutually exclusive. Romance doesn’t inherently undermine friendship. Romance is not ‘better’/more important than friendship. YOU CAN AND SHOULD BE FRIENDS WITH YOUR PARTNER I CAN N O T STRESS THIS ENOUGH. If you still don’t think shipping two female characters with a strong friendship is okay, just- c’mon now, people, just admit you don’t wanna see two girls kiss because you have some ✨homophobia✨ to work through.
