nameless bard and collei, right ?? (technically. actually. this fic wouldve been part of a series where nameless bard came across many many people of teyvat who happened to venture into old mond’s ruins, or the edges of mondstadt, or where simply wandering, and talked with them, about anything, about nothing. this all stemming from ,,, a small hc au thing where a ghost bard takes care of those that venti cannot immediately reach, or when he is preoccupied by something else. mond’s silly little grandpas.)

but back to collei and bard. two characters who have such a relationship in regards to gods. this fic would’ve had collei come swinging by mondstadt for a visit, and, perhaps, got lost in a storm on the way there. ending up huddled into a corner and devastatedly watching as her stuff is tossed into said storm. there, she meets a stranger who looks awfully like that one local bard amber and lisa talk about, who has run in to find her, and take her to safety.

throughout the way there, she wonders. why is it that this storm is so peculiar ?? mondstadt’s winds are never quite this strong !! is barbatos … angry, maybe ? was something done to have upset him ? (did they ever get angry at her, for when she …. )

“is barbatos ever upset?”

“upset?”

“would they ever get … you know, angry at someone, for something. if they hurt people.” (off note, HOW much of mond’s history does collei know, bc i feel like she would be interested in it, and amber would be more than willing to tell her about mond details.)

and bard … pauses. scowls. laughs. it would depend, wouldn’t it ? how are they hurting people ? are they malicious about it ? they are a kind god, see, and often go around to inconvenience those who have wronged them or their city. (they don’t answer, there are times barbatos is seething, times where people are reminded that the reason the mountains around them were halved by this same god, that the wind is playful, sweet—and dangerous, ruthless.)

then bard goes on to be like. why. if barbatos were to be angry at anyone, that honor would go to me !! my, if they knew of all the offerings ive took from them, they surely would smite me. (the entirety of the time, i just want the vibe that bard is assuring—you are not from here, no, but you are more than welcome as a free child all the same, you who have gained your freedom from despair. you who lives her life reaching for each new opportunity given. you are doing good.) also bard slightly. kinda. vagues at decarabian and other gods at some points.

i just think. bard, who lived his life under a god who did not understand them. collei, who lived her life thrown to the wolves, stuck with remains she did not ask for, who felt betrayed by the heavens for how they failed her.

and mondstadt, and barbatos, who may guide their people, but leaves them largely to make their own decisions. barbatos, whose appearances made are when their people are in distress, who would rather cut their wings off than leave mondstadt to burn. and how they would feel about that—about how this city has turned out, how it helped them, or !!!!!! just !!!!! yeagh

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter? + Spiderleg

ID KILL for a friend group consisting of spider, shrew, squirrel, leaf and white. like idk they would give off cousins you didn't know you weren't related to because your parents are best friends and you call them your aunt/uncle.

Also think its sooo fawkin funny since leaf and spider had beef in canon kinda over the whole him not being there for his kits, okay hear me out, they never have been able to see eye to eye as kids and leaf blows up on him over not seeing rose/toad because she's mostly projecting over not being able to be a mother to her own kits.

But it ends with spider venting about how he's unready to be someone these kits should look up to, something about his brother dying in hopes to save their baby sisters and they still died anyway. maybe throw in my personal hc that he planned to have kits with sootfur but he died too soon and it just hit him that he didn't have the life they planned, and it ends in spiderleaf bestiesms. Leaf convinces spider that he should at least try with them, and Spider down the line after the secret was revealed convinces her to reconcile with her own kits.

ALSO spider + squirrel have a friendly ish rivalry, as in it's not serious but they don't hesitate to punt each other for the bit, but they have their soft moments of shared softness (shrew & soot's deaths) ans they both should have another rivalry over their platonic love for daisy actually. i also do happen to believe in spiderdaisy qpr, give me sassy gossip girls or give me nothing.

19. How about a relationship they have in canon that you don't like? + Firestar

Spottedfire is almost too easy of an answer. like ugh okay you couldve maybe convinced me at a platonic/sister/maternal relation potrayal in canon, or HELL id be okay with a romantic route IF they didn't have a weird age gap or the emotional infidelity. like a ghost girlfriend/right person not enough time CAN be my cup of tea (esp since i do like fallenholly).

But everything they have CANONICALLY it creeps me out, it doesn't serve anything good plot wise, its not interesting, it doesent give anyone any depth, it dragged and muddled the plot its unnecessary and again, UNCOMFORTABLE. the way they only make spotted important only to be the object of another character just makes me sick (ex. fire, th*stle, in a way leaf and jay) as in she's this perfect an untouchable only wants what's best because she couldn't have the life she wants. but in the perspective of another character ? shes never really stood on her own as anything and it frustrates me.

so i only just made portia so tbh they dont have a crazy amt of substance to them as of yet, but i think that theyre a very earnest person and thats smth i wanna focus on wrt character building..they care a lot even if they come across as (and maybe view themselves as) more detached/distant from other people

your art is sooooo awesome. whats your process

OMGGG!!!! tyyyyy that really means a lot :3 <3

typically my process involves working with a certain programs bitmap, sometimes krita and mspaint but only if im in the mood, and i start by doing outlines/rough sketches in the default color, with variations on the same color slider if something needs to be different than the previous colors ones, i typically work all on one layer so (old examples shown here ⬇️ i dont rlly have much wip art stuff so i dont really save things that are unfinished)

then i redraw over that with actual linework, typically either black or an extremely dark color so things match up, (ex, dark green if im drawing something green) and then i usually convert the whole thing to vector so i gain layers again, then i use the colors i selected for the base linework and fill in the entire background layer with that, then i convert it back to bitmap again, then i use the clear bucket tool to get rid of all that color but it keeps the clean linework, then i do cleanup so everything looks right. then i add color with the bucket tool again, (a good example shown here in an old draft of another previous art thing,and so i dont feel like remaking the entire process for this ask so im using old examples)

then afterwords i add detail like shading and little tics and notches and highlights and a lot of times ill fill in shadows with the color of the linework and sometimes ill thicken the linework in places, i usually do this on 4-1 sixed pixel brushes

and then ill add a real background and final touches and yapyap whatever im pretty much finished, for a while i used to just screenshot my art but i realized that you can export files so i do that now for a crisper finish.

and i cant really explain what my process is for sketchbook and physical stuff, i just draw whats on my mind, for more important stuff ill use pencil for an outline then erase it after inking. for animations its just the same process i always do but i ignore the details besides sometimes shading, it makes the process go faster and cheaper, and then i just import all the drawings individually into davinci resolve8 to string together and animate. and if this ask was looking for like. my process for drawing things. i usually just simplify details and make note of shapes and body language and stuff you knoww, its how i simplify complex mecha into niche character designs.,,

1. cooking with/for my friends!! been doing it a ton recently and it's so much fun and rly rewarding even if i am difficult to cook with due to not measuring stuff and doing everything by vibes

2. same kinda vein, playing music! I've been playing piano since I was 8 and flute since 13 and while i don't get to do much of either anymore it's still fun!

3. in the last month or so I've started playing a wildsea ttrpg with some of my friends and the brainrot is Insane im constantly thinking abt my character i love him so much and i am making him miserable and fucked up!! its the first non-oneshot I've played so I don't think im very good at it but its really fun and our dm is so good at making it hilarious

4. my fave hobby competitive tetris 💀 um. i love learning fun patterns and strategy and trying to beat my personal bests or win matches against people lmaoo

5. just music in general i guess! I've been making monthly playlists of the music I listen to since 2018 and it makes me really happy that I have those as little time capsules I can look back on

oh I did absolutely nothing lmao 😭 well, okay, that's not true, because I finished my wip's rewrite in the first week of january, but after that I went cold entirely lol. which, tbf, I think I deserve considering I've been going at this thing for over a year with. actually almost no breaks?? and I really wanted to play baldur's gate 3, so any other writing was put off lol.
