this is in no particular order btw i could never decide on one bird to rule them all. also theres so so many birds this is just the tip of the iceberg. id in alt text!

crowned eagle

they look like little ears to me and they move up and down! these guys are really noisy and also have some crazy flight displays they use to attract mates, which involve super long dives before shooting back up. very interesting little guys (theyre actually very very large)! though these behaviors make them seem confident, crowned eagles are actually very nervous and alert. they aren't afraid of humans at all though. they have been known to attack small children as prey. most attacks, however, are not meant to seriously injure or kill their opponent.

2. ayam cemani

just look at this beautiful shiny plumage...these chickens are native to indonesia and they are completely black (the cemani part of their name means black to the bone)! they have black feathers, wattles, beaks, and internal organs. their eggs are NOT black but cream colored!

3. greater blue eared starling

you really can't go wrong with any starling to be honest all of them are so beautiful (honorable mention goes to hildebrandt's starling, which is orange and shades of green/blue which is one of my favorite color combinations)! just look at the plumage man need i say more. its hard to tell in this picture bc i wanted to show off the feathers, but they also have striking golden eyes. these guys are friends with livestock animals and like to eat insects off their backs.

4. secretarybird

these guys have a funny name but they also have a really striking silhouette. they have crane-like legs and look at how long those crest feathers are (not to mention this ones fabulous eyelashes)! juvenile secretarybirds have yellow markings around the eyes, and adults have orange markings as you can see here. secretarybirds are birds of prey, but unlike most other birds of prey, they primarily hunt on foot. these birds are found in sub-saharan africa and are quite popular there because they get rid of pests. theyre even featured on South Africa's coat of arms and the emblem of Sudan!

5. luzon bleeding-heart

the luzon bleeding-heart is part of the pigeon family (fun fact doves and pigeons are basically the same and theres no distinct classification difference). there are a few other bleeding-heart birds, but the luzon is the most well-known. all of the bleeding-heart birds have that iconic red mark in the center. they are endemic to the philippines, and their name in tagalog is punay. their status is currently "near threatened" which makes them the least endangered of the bleeding-hearts. the sulu, negros, and mindoro bleeding-hearts are currently critically endangered :(

Fingers crossed Biker's parents are fucking dead 😭 they were both alive before the zombie apocalypse, and Biker was deeply resentful of them, while their parents mostly just Tolerated Biker's eccentricities (deep in the closet)(regularly stuffed in a leather racing suit)(substance abuse)(yknow the usual)

4. What was your OC's childhood dream? Is that still their dream? If it has changed, why did it change and what's their new dream?

Lil Ms Lunchbox is technically (god what a dodgy thing to say) still a child, but pre-being turned into a vampire, she wanted to become a fireman because that's what her favourite tío was :)

Post-Embrace, Lunchbox dreams of eating rats and having infinite currencies on any given online game such as animal jam and club penguin

10. What's the first significant injury your OC remembers getting? Did it leave any scars?

Lee Got Shot In The Goddamn Head At 17!! Or. It glanced off his forehead. He walked it off like a champ. And by champ i mean left for dead by the gang he was running with, then miraculously waking and stumbling back to camp drenched in blood and muttering questions no one could hear. It left a gnarly scar on his forehead that is only becoming more prominent the more he balds lmao. It may or may not be the reason he can speak with the dead.

7. Where is your OC's family from? Does your OC feel a close connection to that place? Why or why not?

Oh Ms 'Brosia... she is from a convoluted fantasy world that exists in my head and on QGIS!! In this world, there used to be dragons 66 million years ago, but a cataclysm triggered their eventual extinction. A ritual was conducted to try and prolong select species' survival, but it became a pseudo-parasitic relationship with the host mammal (the dragons used to farm these proto-mammals for livestock, and intended for the livestock's life force to be siphoned away in exchange for viable young, but it was found these new artificial young were completely sterile)(flash forwards millions of years, and those proto-mammalian livestock become the dominant lifeforms as. Mammalia. Which includes humans.). Easy.

One would argue she has no family, because she suddenly formed as a gall/egg in the wilderness before hatching, her soul intertwined with a young, newborn human, but this human, a boy named Milo, perhaps also counts as family. He doesn't really like her all that much in the beginning, but slowly, they form a deep bond that either reaches or transcends family.

OKAY so Kevin's Crown ;) is a barely started kandreil fic in which it's Kevin's birthday. And Nicky jokingly gets him one of those plastic kids' tiaras to wear while they're out at Eden's or wherever they're going. (I don't know man I'm not drivin this fic.) Anyway,,, Kevin immediately throws it in the floor and grumbles about how stupid that is. And Nicky is heartbroken.

"Oh come onnnnnnnnn! You're the one who wants to be a queen, wear your crown!!!!!"

Kevin refuses, of course. And the foxes, after they stop bullying him, start chattering about something else. And while they aren't paying attention, Andrew picks the crown up and hands it to Kevin, who scoffs.

But then Andrew tells him if he keeps it on all night he and Neil will give him the royal treatment. Kevin isn't sure what that means, but he sort of Wants To Know. So Neil takes the crown out of his hands and puts it on him, calling Kev 'your majesty'. And they go out and Kevin has to keep his crown on. And then... smut :)

He likes belting the lyrics to drinking songs and work songs with his whole self with other people than sit/stand and listen to a performance.. though that isn’t to say he wouldn’t enjoy a hard performance! It would just have to be something less official than what Gridania tends to put on, you see. (He also can’t….Afford the tickets…. To go to a proper show… oops..)

bonus fact; he knows how to play Piano. He would rather he didn’t. And if you make him sit down and listen to or play a piano recital of some kind he’s going to fake a serious illness just to get wheeled out of the situation.

i think he would call me ‘baby doll’, ‘sweet/pretty girl’ and maybe ‘princess’ occasionally! so nothing like overly cutesy but he knows these nicknames are enough to make me flustered. also, he’s kinda possessive so he likes to refer to me as ‘my girl’.

his love language is acts of service and quality time. words of affirmation is a close third! he has a very hard time with words sometimes but he tries his best! he’s very cute. bc of how much he gives himself a hard time, i try my best to make him feel better about himself. i will make him little (big enough for his appetite) lunches and leave sticky notes saying how much i love him and how proud of him i am, and that if he doesn’t come back safely he’s gonna wish he doesn’t have to deal with my wrath LMAO. i’m really big on doing things for him that he’s not used to, to let him know he deserves the best :3 💗
