aaaa as for tips…… hmmm. i feel like the main challenge is making sure your descriptions flow well (which i struggle with a lot lmao) and that they’re balanced!! if your descriptions are too long it might get tiring after a while, but if they’re too short it might not be invocative enough…. so striking a balance there is good :3 after a few long descriptions it’s usually a good idea to throw in some dialogue to give the readers a lil break!!

ofc you can also put descriptions in between dialogue which i think was your main question!! and the same advice works there too, it’s mostly a matter of finding a good balance. which is Vague as hell but 😭😭 yk. i like to be descriptive w my dialogue and focus on a character’s voice or actions while they’re speaking, but sometimes it’s best to just throw in some lines of dialogue w no descriptions!! there r always lots of options, so you should try to just have fun w it :3 everyone works w dialogue and descriptions differently, so just keep writing and experimenting to see what works for you <33 i’m cheering you on anon!!

OH WAIT i almost forgot to answer your other question 😭😭 when i write i always go back and proofread and change descriptions/lines here and there, sometimes a lot and sometimes almost nothing!! so that’s def another tip :3 if you wanna get good at descriptions one idea could be to just. write something with a lot of dialogue, then go back and add as much description as you can!! i use a lot of imagery, but that’s up to you 🙏🙏

first, i'll say that NO, i don't think there's a cap on creators here. what i love about this fandom is that it's constantly growing and evolving - almost like it's breathing? there are new people who have just binged the show, fans who are reconnecting, and goobers like me who will never let go 😇 no matter what, we are here to gobble up words and art and thoughts and FRIENDSHIP!

honestly, i think the trick for me was connecting. i joined shameless tumblr in 2019 and screamed into the absolute VOID before i started interacting with others. once i started reaching out and talking with others, it was easier for me to share my writing or find the encouragement to start making gifs. there is a BIG focus on community here, and i find that people are so eager and generous with their energy. we WANT to cheer you on and champion your work! we WANT to beta and read and give advice/tips/love.

so i would say not to be shy (easier said than done, i know!), and to share your beautiful self! a lot of users have tracked tags, which is a good way to share and connect. i track #gardenermel (sometimes i am bad at looking, but i'll always get there!), and i'd love to see what you've been up to. and there are many others who love to see creations this way! if you feel comfortable, you can reach out via asks and strike up conversations! all of my friendships here started this way.

there are plenty of ways to get started! fandom events are especially useful for trying things out. depending on what you'd like to create, you could check out @galladrabbles @gallacrafts @gallavichmeta @shamelesscreatorsnetwork @gallavichprompts... there's a yearly @spicygallavichcollab and all kinds of events hosted by @gallavichthings. honestly, the list goes on! these are excellent resources for sharing creations, and a great way to meet members of the fandom.

there's also a host of discord groups associated with some of these initiatives! check out the blogs for links. plus, the big ol' gallabitches server (18+). you'll find a lot of us there, and it's a lovely space to chat about your creations (and everything else!).

as for fic classics, i think that depends on who you ask! there are certainly some fandom staples, but what's great about this space is the WIDE range of interests and ideas. people have put these guys in every single situation, and we continue to be fucking psyched about it. as long as ian, mickey, and the whole damn gang feel true to themselves, i am (generally) fucking here for it. i don't post regularly AT ALL, but i still find that people are so lovely when i do. there's no race to be won here, fandom is about ENJOYING yourself. so i say: please keep trying! drop me a link! i don't catch everything and i WANT to see what yall are doing!

I want to say that Gallagher's like, you know, a bartender. He can lend an ear, give bullshit advice, fake sympathy, but his heart's not in it. He doesn't really care and is gonna forget about whatever he just got told by the time the next sad sap rolls along. But it's different when you're in love, he WANTS to be able to give heartfelt advice and he DOES care, but he doesn't know HOW to comfort properly. As I said in the fic, he's good at improv. And the only way to learn is to try, right? More than anything, though, I have this children's book in my home that I keep for sentimental value (it's about a puppy obvs, because one of my childhood comfort books was the pokie little puppy and also you know, gallagher's a dog) but one day he was like "Lemme read this to you." because fuck, shit, improv. And it worked. And now he's got an ace.

On the other end, HAH. Like he's going to be emotionally vulnerable with ANYONE, even me. But obviously, in my mind, everyone gets tired, everyone hurts. So I'll give him comfort and extra love sometimes even if he's not showing any signs of needing it. It always works.

Oh man, what DON'T I think about him that someone thinks when they're deeply in love with someone? Aside from all the sappy thoughts, I do wonder what goes on in his head. No way can he hide the 'there's things i can't talk to you about and i'm sorry' vibes, but I'm not gonna press him about it. I just wonder and hope he's okay.

It's similar for him, he thinks the world of me despite not thinking he could ever get that attached to someone. And to mirror my thoughts, he thinks about how unfair it is that he's keeping me in the dark, but hey, life isn't fair. Doesn't stop him from feeling bad, like he wants to just lay everything out. No use thinking about that but that doesn't mean he's gonna be able to stop.

So, Aerith really likes to gift me flowers. Lovely boquetts of the flowers she personally grew, and even making sure the flower symbolism matches me in a way! How she views me, what it means, and why she gave me those exactly. She gives me small gifts, but with a very deep meaning. I personally find her gifts one of the most meaningful of them all 😭🤍

Easy. He knows what comforts me, I told him before. Blankets, lots of blankets, plushies. And lots, lots, lots of hugs. Physical contact = MUST/VERY IMPORTANT

He feels cold to the touch, but that doesn't matter in the slightest. He makes sure to use his voice to ground me, speaks quietly and softly, as he coaxes and pats me until I calm down. If I wanna talk about it, he'll listen and give me advices to the best of his abillity. Maybe he'll answer a bit logically oriented, but it helps me nonetheless🤍Honestly, I could listen to him bicker about logic and science and stuff for hours, I really enjoy listening to him EEEEE-

If I really cannot seem to fall back asleep, he will read me a bed time story. But if I can, he will stay close and hold my hand until I completely return to my slumber.🖤

random vent but i feel so angry lately and im not sure why :( ive been blowing up on everyone and even remain angry when im alone. ive noticed that im a mean person and im trying to not be anymore but idk my internal monologue always feels so negative and mean. idk how to push forward and be better. do you have any advice on what helps you be a nice person?

oh, my love. first of all, big hug 🫂 secondly, you're not a mean or bad person. we have low phases at times when it's harder to control negative emotions and that's absolutely okay.

i'm so sorry you feel that way. i want you to know that you're not alone — it happens on very bad days, i promise. give yourself time to figure out whatever triggered these emotions and to heal — look into yourself, analyse the last few days and weeks to try to find out what the root of the problem may be. then tell yourself that you deserve kindness — and once you've internalised that, give out that same kindness to others, too.

you know, a reason why i know you're not a bad person is bc you understand and acknowledge your flaws and are ready to work on them yk? like you want to be better and all, and that's so freaking courageous i think. what i also always tell myself is that being gentle goes a far longer way than hate/anger. littlest signs of affection make people so happy, and that kinda makes me feel so much better, too. like, try it out — go to the next person doing smth you're fascinated by and tell them how cool they are, i swear you'll both feel incredible!!

so yeah, i guess that's the advice (?) i want to give? give yourself reminders what kindness can do and what wrath can't. always consider who's deserving of your anger or not, and if they're not, take a breath and a step back (breathing exercises beloved btwww!) and reflect on what might truly be bothering you. but you're stronger than your demons!! give yourself time and be patient, surround yourself with those who you can talk to, even if it's me (ty for trusting me btw 🤍). i hope that made sense? let me know how you feel about this. much love <3

I’m sorry you’ve got a headache, they’re never fun! The best advice I can offer is stay hydrated, take some meds and try a hot or cold compress when you can! For me, cold compresses (like a ziplock bag full of ice) held where the pain is works the best and has gotten rid of migraines for me almost faster than anything else I’ve tried. I’m sending you some healing vibes and a huge hug! I hope this headache passes as soon as possible and you get to relax a bit! - 🤍🤍🤍
