top 5 albums is both a very fun question and an impossible task but here’s a list i feel good about:

romance is boring by los campesinos: genuinely my all time favorite album no contest. such good lyrics and storytelling it’s a heavy cathartic listen while also being maybe the funniest emo album ever written. not to even mention just the SOUND of it like from the synth melody in first seconds of the first track onward it’s just got this. this vibe. it’s special i love it dearly

shake the sheets by ted leo and the pharmacists: just a very warm encouraging punk album. i love how it like directly references real political problems but comes at it all from a lens of “don’t give up we can make things better” sometimes that’s what i need. also me and mia may be the best ted leo song sorry but do you believe in something beautiful then / get up and be it

i love you honeybear by father john misty: love! love!!!! a true no skip album instant classic status. i have mixed feelings abt some of fjm’s other stuff sometimes the whole irony poisoned dbag thing gets old for me but this album works for me 100%

body talk by robyn: genuinely just one of the best pop albums of all time. like obv dancing on my own is a classic but every track is great just open your heart and let robyn in

i love my mom by indigo de souza: this is a pretty recent album but god it just knocked me out when i first listened to it. really great lyrics and vocal delivery and also just like a grungy indie pop aesthetic that i love. one that i wish more people would listen to shdjfks i’ve gotten a decent number of friends into indigo de souza’s music but it will never be enough
