you make a noise of indignation, hand coming up quickly to point at him—a bit too quickly and you’ve suddenly knocked yourself off balance a bit. pressing a hand into the sofa, you glare at him from where he’s sitting at the opposite end of the couch. “you’re drunk.”

“no, i dd’d.” he reaches across the back of the couch to hold your hand, and you seem to just gravitate towards him. he can’t help but love the way you always tend to find him—in a crowd you’d know where he was without him even knowing you were looking for him.

you huff softly, walking around the couch (very slowly) and plopping onto his lap. “‘toru’s so mean to me.”

your bottom lip juts out in an exaggerated pout and he can’t help himself from leaning in and pressing a kiss to your cheek. you were too cute for your own good and sometimes the cuteness aggression was too much for him, sometimes he just had to hold you and squeeze you. “not mean, just telling the truth.”

you stand up, now, suddenly, and gojo can’t begin to fathom what’s happening in your mind as you begin swaying and tapping your feet to an invisible rhythm. you’re humming, too, and he can’t seem to catch the melody, but he stands now to join you. taking your hand in his and placing his free one on your waist, he pulls you in and hums softly whenever there’s a lull in your tune. it’s messy, and you’ve definitely stepped on his foot a few times, but your laughter is bright and cheery and gojo wishes he could bottle it up and keep it forever.

“i love you.” he whispers in between the third verse and the second revival of the chorus, somewhere he hopes doesn’t ruin the song the two of you have created. “i love you so much it hurts.”

“i love you tenfold.” you say back, head leaning on his shoulder as you let him do all the leading.

outer wilds is 40% off on steam - if you've not played it yet, i really really recommend it! to not spoil much - it's a super rewarding, immersive game about discovery, so, the less you know going in, the better! i played it this summer totally blind and i'm still thinking about it. a lot.

it won't be for everyone (no game is), but it's really wonderful if it clicks with you! so i urge you to at least give it a shot. the last time i loved a game so much i became a walking ad for it was for hollow knight - presumably a whole lot of my followers have played & love that game, so i just wanted to say : i consider outer wilds to be just as amazing of a game! i've even been purposefully avoiding reblogging spoilery fanart as to not rob any of you of the blind experience, just in case! that's how much i love it!!!

but he tries his best.

“baby,” he murmurs softly, kneeling down by the couch where you’re laid up with a burning fever and a stuffy nose, “i have some chicken noodle soup heating up on the stove, and i’m making you another cup of tea, is there anything else you want?”

you sniffle, hands curling the blanket under your chin as you look up at megumi. you have tears lining your lower lashes, and megumi just wants to take all of your sickness and all of your pain away. “no, baby, thank you. i love you so much.”

he smiles softly. even sick, you insist on telling him how much you adore him. you’re too self-sacrificing sometimes. “don’t even want a kiss? you must really be sick.”

he feigns intense concern, putting the back of his hand on your forehead but softens considerably when your laughter turns to coughing. rubbing a hand on your cheek, he sighs. “sorry, i’ll limit my boundless humor today, just for you.”

megumi presses a kiss to your burning forehead, concern blossoming in his chest once again at the unfamiliar feeling and brushes your hair from your face. he wishes he could take all of your pain and your aches and just let you live your life care-free, but he knows it’s an unattainable wish, so instead, he’ll help you carry the burden as much as he can.
