Do you know the Cofagrigus pokédex entries? Pokédex entry (Black) by Bulbapedia: "It has been said that they swallow those who get too close and turn them into mummies. They like to eat gold nuggets." But for some reason I can see cofagrigus being a cuddle bug and leaving Yuurei sleeping inside of them and not turning the child into a mummy (well, the pokémon warp them in a confy blanket), in a very strange way Yuurei doesn't have nightmares when they nap inside cofagrigus and Professor Yew just let them be.
omg yes
Cofagrigus is careful with precious babey
absolute cuddlebug and loves yuurei and wraps them in cozy blanket and lets them nap and anyone who disturbs gets a shadow ball to the face

Another day, another log-in. The doors of Ramshackle open up once more to welcome their dear resident - their Yuu, their player.
Representatives from all dorms wait with bated breath, wondering who's going to get lucky and be allowed to give their welcoming speech this time. Some are confident, head held high and proud, words sitting at the tip of their tongue, ready to be spilled; others are anxious, fidgeting with parts of their uniform and checking themselves in a mirror - such an occasion requires one to look their best, all to make a good impression on you! And, after a few torturous seconds of waiting, spotlight lands on one of the many. Their face gleams under jealous stares of their disappointed schoolmates, a single bead of sweat rolling down the nape and bringing cool air to their skin. Everything has to be perfect for the player, and perfect it is - the words that have been rehearsed hundreds of time in the privacy of their room, the face expressions, the gestures - as they voice out wishes for another productive day and offer the log-in rewards.
To be chosen as a class partner is both a blessing and a curse. Rejoice those who have skills and smarts to demonstrate and brag about, poor are those who fall behind in studies. Leona suddenly finds a reason to skip out on a midday nap in favor of sitting out a history lesson, surprising both his classmates and Professor Trein. From time to time he even bothers to speak out, interrupting some poor kid - not like they'll do anything about it, a Kingscholar is not a force to be reckoned with; Azul and Riddle stare each other down, lifting hands at every question at the speed of light, completing tasks flawlessly, outshining everybody else with their vast knowledge to the point where teachers have to ignore them on purpose - after all, other students need their marks too... Though it doesn't stop the two from flaunting their exams results after finals roll around.
What do you mean "Twisted wonderland is not a romance visual novel"? Do they look like they care? Even the heaviest of Disney censor will not stop these boys from sneaking in a couple of flirty remarks. They WILL go against code if they have to. And if main story cannot be messed with, events are still a fair game, are they not? Watch Ace throw in bold pick-up lines and inquire about your type; it's the fifth time you're inviting him in the guest room, do you have a crush on him or something?? don't get shy now, of course he's just teasing! It's a shame that your choice of answers is so limited, the game brushes off his words way too easily...
And don't get me started at the Magic Mirror summons. To be selected as a member of the player's team is an honor like no other - that means their strength was recognized. Though some card combinations can be pretty... questionable. Placing, say, Leona and Malleus or Floyd and Riddle in one team would most likely result in a mess; be careful with your choice!

some (mildly disjointed) thoughts i had about the translation of most recent leona overblot scene from the second twst novel. unsaid disclaimer is obvi these are just my thoughts and youre free to disagree. i cant stop you
read more because i might ramble a bit 💆🏾‍♀️
Tumblr media
i'll start by saying that i'm very grateful for the novel & yuureis translations, bc its given me so much to chew on wrt leonas psyche and mental state, much more than book 2 in the game did. i havent bothered to go looking for reactions tho, bc i can already kind of predict the takes i'll find (knowing how parts of the fandom talks abt leona generally) - and i do "get" it, in the sense that i do also feel the way he tortures ruggie before he overblots is upsetting - but theres so much to dig into here, i feel like its such a waste to get hung up on obsessively moralizing
(i'll mention here that to formulate these thoughts i'm also pulling from the translation of leona's post-overblot scene, plus some moments from the game that i'll mention specifically as i go)
for example, the things leona says pre-overblot, his meltdown about dreams being stupid and useless, how the savanaclaw students (ruggie included) aren't meant to question him; they're meant to obey quietly, sound less like actual things he's trying to tell them and more like him lashing out at himself. as in, he's more talking at them, not to them. skipping forward to book 6: there we see leona give jamil advice, but the implication underneath is that everything he's telling jamil are things leona wishes he had internalized himself - again here, he's talking to someone, but really it's also directed inwards. almost like it's easier for him to look at (and speak about) himself critically when he can externalize it as critique of other people
the other thing im curious about is the distant, detached persona he adopts when he's truly angry. this'll be quick because i don't feel i have enough information to unpack it properly, but if i allow myself to spin thoughts out from limited information: it could almost be a habit he picked up as a child - something he might've forced himself to learn as part of an effort to be seen as more of a 'model' prince. if people were afraid of his moodiness because they feared what his UM (he) could do, then if he swallows those emotions maybe he can mitigate that. this, ofc, being shot through with the expectation that, as royalty, any order he gives people will obey
the final thing, for this post at least, is unpacking the way leona lashes out at ruggie when ruggie defies him. i'm willing to make the very safe bet that most of the reading of this moment is focused on leona being angry over being defied at all, or general disgust at how small and weak ruggie is (appears) to be. and while i think both of those points have some element of truth to them, i think the larger aspect of leonas reaction is jealousy. ruggie somehow, despite everything, despite all of the disadvantages life has thrown at him, still has the courage to have determination. and i want to be very clear here: this is not me saying being poor or struggling is admirable because it makes you strong - i'm not naive and i'm not here to romanticize poverty. what i am trying to say here ruggie's tenacity - a tenacity his life circumstances developed in him - is something that leona lacks, and that's what he's jealous of. he's jealous of his inability to keep having that hope, to maintain that courage in the face of his own repeated failures
(an aside: isn't it ironic that part of the reason ruggie has that tenacity is leona? leonas tutoring, leonas effective leadership of the spelldrive club, and as housewarden?)
(an aside 2x: in many ways, 'giving up' can be seen as a luxury. ruggie does not have the luxury to give up, because it could very well mean that he doesn't eat that day. for leona, regardless of what he does he's going to have a roof over his head and three square meals a day anyway, so what does it matter if he gives up? sure, he won't be happy, but he'll be comfortable in a material sense, and isn't that enough? except, of course, it isn't - not for him. as much as he tries to deny it, he's as fiercely ambitious as the rest of his dorm)

Just wanted to put this on since it's such a great analysis and made me look at Sebek differently, seeing things from his point of view.
Is sebek racist? Only a fun question, do not take seriously
Hello hello! Thank you so much for this question, I have been so excited to discuss Sebek's speech patterns since Book 7 reached EN~🥳
Tumblr media
Silver says outright that Sebek can be prejudiced at times and Lilia states in the beginning of Book 7 that Sebek is the very picture of his grandfather, from the way he talks to the way he thinks.
We as the players do not realize how literally he means this comment until later in Book 7 when we meet Baul Zigvolt and realize that their speech patterns have a lot in common:
Tumblr media
While maybe difficult to put across in the English-language adaptation of the game, Sebek has always spoken very old fashioned.
(Ace: "Okay grandpa, you gonna take her for a buggy ride next?")
Tumblr media
He will occasionally say "this Sebek" in reference to himself, which Baul also does. (They are also both canonically quite loud, possibly another trait that Sebek adopted from Baul).
Tumblr media
Sebek will also infamously refer to others using the 貴様 form of "you," which doesn't really exist outside of fiction and is such a rude form that it is practically a swear word. More here ->
Sebek uses it constantly, in everyday conversation.
And see Baul using it in Book 7 just all the time, with everyone except his superiors such as Lilia and Maleanor (there is even a time he becomes very angry and uses it with the senate).
Tumblr media
Also like Baul, Sebek will switch to the extremely old-fashioned and formal "kiden" to refer to people who have impressed him. More here ->
Sebek's battle cry of "I'll swallow you whole" even seems to come from Baul!
Tumblr media
And another thing Baul did in Book 7: refer to Sebek as human rather than by his name until Sebek earned his respect, which we have also seen happen between Sebek and Azul.
Tumblr media
(In a Nightmare Before Christmas voiceline Sebek refers to Zero as a ghost and then a dog, eventually settling on his name, while he refers to Jack Skellington as "Bones." Is Sebek not just calling out humans, but referring to everyone by what they are rather than who they are?*)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Does he simply yell human more than "dog," "ghost," etc., because humans are the species we have seen him interact with the most? It was confirmed in the novels that mermaids, beast-people, etc., are all referred to as "human" within the Twst universe, which has yet to be confirmed by the game but also has yet to be disproved.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sebek also refers to Grim as "dire beast."
There is a significant moment where he shifts to calling both Grim and the prefect by their names in Book 7, which the prefect even has the option of acknowledging aloud: "Whoa, you called me by my name?"
Tumblr media
In a Harveston sub-plot Sebek even refuses to use an honorific with Epel's grandmother Marja until she proves herself worth of his respect.
Silver calls Sebek out on his inappropriate use of "kisama," while both Riddle and Sebek scold him for referring to people as "humans."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whereas Epel's rude speech patterns can be explained by how it is a part of the dialect he was raised to speak and therefore he doesn't know any better (more here ->) Sebek is consciously and intentionally speaking down to others until they prove themselves worthy--is this something he learned from Baul?
Sebek says that Baul provided him with "an enriching education," but what exactly did that education entail?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lilia expresses frustration with Sebek's inability to adapt to society, but canonically Sebek has only been outside of Briar Valley for 6 months, while he's been emulating his grandfather for 16 years.
Lilia says that Sebek has always been close to Baul and Jamil has a line of, "When admiration goes too far, the consequences can be dire."
Tumblr media
I always assumed this was meant to be about Malleus, and while it still might be, is it also a reference to Sebek's devoted imitation of his beloved grandfather?
And we can go even deeper if we want, though this goes into theoretical territory:
Sebek was born after Briarland had already fallen to its invaders, but he was raised in a community where the war is still living memory.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Baul fought to protect his home against those who overran the land, exploited its resources, labeled him a monster, and drove them all into a fraction of their former territory.
He remembers what Briarland was before it the invasion, he fought to save it, he failed, and he survived to help put what was left of the country back together.
Tumblr media
And then his daughter married someone who is potentially a direct descendent of the very invaders who had spent years killing anyone who looked like him and destroying everything he'd known (with even his native language possibly disappearing: Sebek says that speakers are "somewhat rare" in modern day, as the fae have generally adopted Common as their language of choice).
Tumblr media
Sebek: "This has been weighing on me ever since we entered Lilia's dream. That my own father's distant ancestors may very well have been involved in all this too..."
And due to the long lifespans of the fae he isn't the only one with trauma and loss that feels both recent and personal.
Tumblr media
Sebek and his siblings were not raised amongst the offspring of those who survived the war but the literal survivors themselves, unlike the humans to whom the wars are ancient history.
Tumblr media
Sebek: "You must remember: from Lilia, Grandfather, and Malleus's perspectives...the Dawn Knight is not likely someone they consider to belong to the 'distant past.'"
While not confirmed in-game, it is not too wild to imagine that Sebek has chosen to ally himself with the survivors rather the invaders, and especially when he has been raised to idolize Malleus, whose own mother they killed not very long ago by fae standards.
Tumblr media
While humans have been reproducing and dying at such a rapid pace that the current generation might not know that dragons are real, the same fae that managed to escape the slaughter are still there, and are now being met with the people born of those who stole their country but to whom there doesn't seem to be much significance to it all beyond a chapter in a history book.
And that might all be very well tied up in Sebek's use of "human"! (Disclaimer: this is all just a personal analysis and one of many possible explanations!)
Tumblr media
Not only does it seem to be a speech pattern that Sebek has adopted directly from the grandfather he adores (and from Lilia and Malleus, who are also known to refer to non-fae as "humans" and whom he idolizes), but it may also be a reminder both to himself and to everyone around that while he may be two worlds in one, he does not approve of those that tore apart the community he grew up in, lest someone wrongfully assume that he agrees with the actions of his human ancestors.
Which would make it a form of self-preservation while growing up in a predominantly fae area.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sebek's speech patterns and behaviors might be serving as a way for him to assert his loyalty to the fae, the people whom he admires, identifies with and was raised by, and distance himself from the humans who tried to eradicate them.
(If Sebek’s mother brought his father to Briar Valley from somewhere else (possibly Sunset Savanna) as has been implied, it’s possible Sebek’s human lineage isn’t tied to the invaders at all, but this is still vague.)
Tumblr media
*Sebek refers to Sally as "Sally" throughout the Halloween event, using her name without an honorific but at least using it, much like he did with Marja. He also chastises Trey for failing to offer his hand to Sally and help her to her feet when she falls to the ground. Does Sebek possibly have a chivalrous side, not dissimilar to Leona? Memo: must check.

HOW FUCKING OLD IS TWST 😭
small rant (NONE OF THIS IS CONFIRMED so feel free to discuss and put your own opinion about this)
MY THESIS: I believe that the characters in Twisted Wonderland turn the ages of what their student data says throughout the main story.
Tumblr media
I believe that the NRC school system is working like most Japanese schools with their age groups.
In Japanese schools, most high school ages range at least from 16-18 because they have 3 school years.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I believe in the main story, the first years are coming in as 15 and then they turn 16 throughout the story (not counting their birthday events)
Then college age begins at 18
Tumblr media
So what I can gather up is that the 1st years are 15-16, 2nd years 16-17, 3rd years 17-18, and then 4th years are 18-19. It is mentioned that the 4th years are off campus and pursuing outside education so basically NRC is running itself like a highschool.
(Night Raven "College" is probably from the fact their 4th years are college aged based on Japan's standards)
I do acknowledge the fact that Twisted Wonderland is a fictional place with a fictional school so yes, it may be different there. But they follow the same age groups and grades as most Japanese schools so I am to believe that it runs similarly to that.
With Leona Kingscholar, he is 20 but I also think he turns 19 to 20 in the main story as well.
Leona received an invitation to NRC but ignored it for a year before attending.
Tumblr media
He also has been held back a year but according to Yuurei's post, no one knows which year he has been held back in. He either repeated a 2nd or a 3rd year.
Tumblr media
In the novel, he is held back a 2nd year and in the game, it is implied to be his 3rd year. So what I could come up with is this (IGNORE THE "ACTUAL" PART LMAO)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is mentioned that he's also 2 years older (he is) than the rest of his peers
Tumblr media
(Lilia and Malleus are not affected by this since they are TOO FUCKING OLD)
Even in actual high school, you aren't the age you're supposed to be when you start it unless your school year is different or your birthday.
I think it makes more sense for their ages on their info sheet to just be their final ages once the main story ends. It's easier than updating it every main story update.
Because if they really made the 1st years 16 turning 17, 2nd years 17 turning 18, and 3rd years 18 turning 19 without any mention of it on their info sheets, it's really misleading and confusing.
Besides, NRC literally runs like a highschool and there's teenagers.
CONCLUSION/THEORY: Night Raven College is running their campus as a highschool with their "college" aged students pursuing outside education. The reason why the NRC students' info sheet doesn't change their ages is because those are their final ages once the main story ends and Azul Ashengrotto should burn in hell.

Do you see the differences between the game and the novel Twisted Wonderland? I didn't notice much until I searched on Youtube, Novel Ace was ready to apologize to Yuu ( in this case Yuuya) for insulting, Malleus isn't our little sweet dragon boy but literally choking Yuuya ?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, I do keep up with the differences between all official adaptations of TWST! This includes the light novel, which in my opinion has the most frequent and significant deviations from the game. It’s been very interesting to compare the two.
I don’t immediately comment on every change (of which there are many) I see unless specifically asked about it or I notice something pretty major. Some examples of the latter would be the like novels elaborating on Leona’s motives or Riddle’s flashback and the consequences of his actions.
I think this is facilitated by two factors: 1) the light novel format allowing for more space to expand on ideas and concepts, and 2) Yuuya is the most different Yuu we’re gotten. The game Yuu is very much a blank slate for players to project onto in order to easily immerse them in the story. Meanwhile, the manga Yuus tend to be the helpful” types that move the story along in their own way. This is because the manga has limited space in the magazines they run in, so they need to keep things snappy and follow the main story pretty strictly. The light novel is able to stop and have the POV character reflect, doubt themselves, and refuse involvement because a medium that is inherently mostly words forces you to slow down and take in everything on the page. There’s no limit or demands of a book, so the events have much more time to “marinate”.
Personally, I really love a lot of the minor changes in the light novel. I feel they really flesh out the relationships between characters, particularly Yuuya and his friendship with Ace and Deuce. Ace actually has the guts to realize he was the one who fucked up and apologizes for being an ass. It’s so in line with the brutal honesty he dishes out it to others. Deuce stays up late into the night talking to Yuuya and makes them feel welcome because when was the last time he had done anything like this? Yuuya was always the loner back home, ignored by his classmates and feeling invisible. Now he has loyal friends who got his back and actively tell off mob students who sneer at his enrollment. Moments like this make me really care about their bond and make it more believable that they would trek halfway across Twisted Wonderland to come to Yuuya’s aid in the eventual book 4 of the novelization.
dbksbejwjwwhei The one thing that caught me off guard about your ask was the “Malleus chokes Yuuya” part, which I do not recall ever happening 😅 I went back into the light novel to cross reference just in case I had forgotten! I believe you’re referring to when Yuuya and Malleus first meet in book 2? In which case, I think there was reader misinterpretation involved.
What happens is that Malleus begins to introduce himself, then stops and says he permits Yuuya to pick a name for him. But Yuuya, feeling uncomfortable with the idea of nicknaming someone he just met, asks for Malleus’s actual name (something which game Yuu does not do). This incurs Malleus’s anger—“I have said no. Did you not hear me?” It is then that we get a few paragraphs describing how Yuuya goes “stiff”, a “briar-like tension seizes his body, making it impossible to move”, “fear [making his] heart race”, he “[forgets] to breathe” etc. (Fan translation by Yuurei!)
To me, that… doesn’t read as Malleus choking Yuuya, let alone laying a finger on him. It’s more like Yuuya is so consumed by fear that he finds himself entirely paralyzed and unable to argue back, so instead he submits and lets the subject drop. There’s no mention of Malleus “letting go” or anything either, just the fairy lights brightening again once his mood clears and he realizes Yuuya isn’t looking to defy him. It’s also important to note that, previously, the night in this scene was described as tranquil and pleasant—the emphasis is on how Malleus’s mood shifts the atmosphere and the “feeling” of the night.
So!! The “seizing” mentioned is NOT literal; a feeling could “seize” you too, coming in suddenly and with great power. This is a literary device known as personification, or giving a non-human object or action human-like qualities or skills. When used to describe the briar-like feeling, it’s also a simile, which is when you use “like” or “as” to compare two things.
… Besides, imagine Yuuya being choked out by someone during your first meeting and then no description of him freaking out?? And then still building a whole friendship based on this weird encounter??? Even though Yuuya has a history of catastrophizing and even thinks about Leona explicitly tearing his throat out just because of Leona’s powerful presence???? That just does not make sense. It also doesn’t make sense for Malleus’s character. Yes, he can lash out at people, but here it feels like he’s telegraphing his displeasure (via the atmosphere, similar to how his mood disrupts the weather) rather than resorting to a physical attack (or using magic to bind someone in place).

Hun... For some reason I see Professor Yew's Tyrantrum platonically doting on Malleus (maybe the fact that they are dragons?) since he's the only one who isn't a jerk towards Yuurei and his trainer's child simply adores Malleus.
The first time Yuurei called him Big Bro Dragapult (Maybe in the near future he can get a dreepy or maybe two) some instinct snapped in Malleus.
Even though Malleus is centuries older than Yew, this pokémon professor can't help but act parentally towards Malleus who appreciates sincere zeal and would totally blast any bully in NRC if anything happened to Yew, Yuurei and their kin AKA Aesthetic Trainer Family.
OMG YESSSSSSSS
Malleus is suddenly adopted and has no idea wtf has happened but he kinda rolls with it lol
malleus then becomes the top tier big bro for yuurei, constantly covered in yuurei's flower crowns and tyrantrum cuddles lmao
all the others in the aesthetic family are 100% accepting of Malleus and immediately dub him as the Goth Trainer aesthetic
(ayo imagine malleus with pokemon like Hydreigon and Gothitelle idjksdhkslm)

Since everything we know so far points to Mrs. Rosehearts planning Riddle's entire life, even before his birth, that does seem highly unlikely...
But considering we're getting a Rapunzel event alongside Riddle's Book 7 dream chapter, it would be VERY interesting!!👀
Also we've never actually seen what Riddle's mom looks like🤔. We assume him to be her spitting image, but maybe they look nothing alike (I know not all kids look like their parents, but the TWST universe follows different rules and Knight of Dawn is literally Silver with a blond wig).
I mean, we already got Silver's parentage reveal, so what's another misplaced child? (Or another reason to hate Mrs. Rosehearts, for that matter...)
If Riddle turns out to be secretly a prince as well I will riot.
didn’t Mother Gothel steal Rapunzel so… lol it really wouldn’t add much to the story if Riddle was a stolen child but it would be interesting

Ki****’s Home
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The children brought to the ******* Island during the year **** were named after flowers.
Ki**** was the brightest in her cohort, both in terms of intelligence and personality.
However, that was exactly what made her the worst subject.
Instead of properly participating in the activities meant to measure the children’s abilities, she was always distracted. Always compassionately helping or curiously asking.
Although seeming to hold no malicious intent, she was still a hindrance. An unpredictable, troublesome child.
In fact, she was the Father’s ultimate failure.
Someone who was too valuable to be discarded, yet too disobedient to be contained.
Even punishments seemed to have little effect on her, as she always returned to her natural state a few hours later.
One day, the Father lost his patience. He stepped up instead of the researchers and tried to fix Ki**** on his own.
It worked for the day. Ki**** completed all the activities as she should have been all along. Even if the results were worse than usual, she had been predictable. Obedient.
That day, when the best children were moved to the reward room, the Father handpicked a gift for Ki**** as a reward.
Since he had proved that Ki**** was able to do what they told her to, he expected no less from her.
Unfortunately, the next day, Ki**** had reverted back to her old habits.
She really did try her best to do what was expected. She really wanted to do her best, she did.
One thing all children in the lab hated to hear was that their best was, in fact, not their best. That their greatest efforts were not enough.
In fact, they would have rather died than heard that.
The Father was disappointed.
And that would be Ki****’s last time in the reward room.
Ki’s backstory that no one asked for!!!!!
Her backstory usually doesn’t play a pivotal role on the medias I insert her into, but it does give a few clues on her behavior and personality. Also I just think she’s tragic because she dies so early. My daughter :(
I actually made Ki during like. 5th grade, so the world where she originally resides in is my OC world (the one with Kristal in it (u can find her in refs btw, if you haven’t seen her yet)).
Generally, Ki**** was a girl who talked with and helped her cohort, even at the cost of being labeled disobedient. She prioritized helping the rest of the children than acing her ability tests (even though she had no reason to. Like she wasn’t even older than them, the cohorts are separated by birth date year).
She placed high on pop quizzes testing intelligence every time, but otherwise if someone else seemed to struggle, she would flat out NOT do any of the work and instead would help them or ask questions in their stead or even just give up on the work to do something else, so they could never measure her correctly. This made it impossible to figure out if she’d be of any help with the Father’s research (which I will not disclose as of now).
Yeah, that’s generally it!
Now, an answer to a few (nonexistent) questions!
1. Why does the Father include the word “the”?
It has “the” in the same way you’d call a creature under your bed “the” Monster.
2. Is Ki’s purple ribbon the gift the Father chose and would she still wear it if she found out about her past?
Yes
Yes :(
3. What are some similarities and differences between Ki**** and Kiyuu?
Similarities: Obsessive organization abilities, intelligence, and they’re both searching for home.
Oh and they both love the scent of the sea and cream puffs, and general things like that.
Differences: Kiyuu develops to become, in a sense, less “helpful”? She finds out most people at NRC like to be seen as someone who can handle things themselves if they wish to, and it’s really just awkward if Kiyuu keeps eagerly volunteering for anything. Like, at first it’s nice, but then it just becomes like, “does she think I’m helpless or something?” Anyway. Yeah. Kiyuu here gains some snark too, just as a defense mechanism. She needs to spit back once in a while.
Taglist (ask to be added!!): @kathxrat-01 @distant-velleity @scint1llat3 @elenauaurs @boopshoops @lumdays @venaue @jewelulu @thehollowwriter

Can you do the etymology of the Twisted Wonderland characters names ?
I could... However, there's actually a couple of lovely videos on Youtube by @yuurei20 that explains the etymology of the character and dorm names by translating the Official Fanbooks and giving some context, so I'd suggest watching those because I feel like I'd be rehashing a lot of stuff they said. If you need to find them on YT, the Youtube handle is YuuRei and the titles of the videos I'd suggest watching are "Twisted Wonderland Etymology: Character and Dorm Names" as well as "Twst Etymology: Cater's Name" I'm aware they don't cover all the names, like they don't cover Sebek, Silver, or Lilia, but these are good starting points to look at.
THAT SAID, I will point something out about Idia's name because Idia is my favorite character and this is not mentioned in their videos about Idia's name and a lot of people don't seem to mention this connection.
A lot of people point out Idia could be coming from the word Idea and that's where they think the name comes from because he's a maverick genius, but he is based on Hades, a Greek god with many different epithets.
Greek gods had different epithets that represented aspects they were worshipped under. An example of this is Athena Parthenos, which means Virgin Athena or Athena the Virgin. That particular epithet is what the Parthenon is named after.
Hades has an epithet that could be also where Idia's name came from. Hades Aidis. This means "Hades the Unseen" and it fits really well with Idia being a recluse who hides in his room and usually attends things via tablet. Given Idia's grandmother's name is Aidne, which appears to come from one of Hades other names/epithets, Hades Aïdonefs/Aidoneus, I really think the epithets and Greek myths played a big part in the Shroud names.
This would play into why my Yuu, who I based on Persephone, is called Kora. (If Disney will not give me much Hades and Persephone stuff, I will make my own). The name Cora/Kora comes from the Greek Kore, the name associated with Persephone before her abduction into the Underworld, that translates to "maiden" or "girl".
The reason I did Rook's nicknames rather than sending the person who asked me to YuuRei's video about Rook's nickname was because I was also giving a bit of my understanding on some of the nicknames as to WHY Rook gave those specific nicknames. Such as why Trey is not a Monsieur, but a Chevalier.
If you'd really like me to make a list over the etymology of the names with my personal takes on some of the names, I can, just send me another ask and I'll make the very long list, but heads up, that will take me some time. As in at least a couple of days up to a week's worth of time so I can do more research and stuff and write down all the connections for each characters. But for a starting off point, I really feel like those two videos I mentioned are really helpful for understanding the name etymology.

Note
I could be wrong and you might know this already, but I believe the “traitor Ace” theory comes from the fact that his last name is Trappola rather than a suit like the other Heartslabyul students. In the trappola card game, “ace” is also ranked higher than king. It could be alluding to the fact that Ace challenged Riddle in the main story, but supporters of the theory reads into it a little deeper.
Yeah I've read something similar right here, but I really just... dont get that theory. If that comes true you are all allowed to come mock me for being a blind idiot xD For now I'll just go on and ignore that theory.
