Idia birthday goods finally arrived💙 It’s a bit of a chore to monitor the listings hoping to find a decent seller. But, I’m so happy to grow my Idia collection again!! I definitely need a new shelf on my wall😅. I was also surprised to learn that twst has a trading card game. My Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon card game days are long over, so I think I might get rid of that last one. It came with one of the acrylics so it’s fine.

Also, I finally got my hands on this plush😭 Would have totally looked amazing on my twst purse. Nearly two years of searching🥲 I mean, I had found it on Suraga-ya, but I sure as hell was not going to spend over $60 in shipping for one item. My Vil plush has been through a lot that the chain is not looking so good anymore. So, I think I will keep this Idia plush in my room for safe keeping.🌸

One detail I enjoy is how the seated characters for GloMasq are the characters of higher rarity (the SSRs and SRs). (Edit: NEVER MIND I LIED, I forgot Riddle was the R 😭 I guess dorm leader overrides Deuce…) In the Playful Land artworks, you’ll notice that everyone is posed a little stiffly, almost like they’re puppets being pulled along on strings~ I LOVE HOW THEY INCLUDED GRIM DESIGNS, HE DESERVES IT BECAUSE HIS GLOMASQ AND PLAYFUL LAND COSTUMES ARE SO HECKING CUTE 😭

TWST is collabing with a Japanese fashion and lifestyle brand called Space a la Mode! They have long sleeve shirts with character motifs as well as fragrances inspired by each dorm as if we don’t already have a ton of those/j.

Finally, the last thing to note! There’s new Master Chef/Culinary Crucibles artwork in Gurihiru’s impactful comic book style! It will appear in a pop-up event, along with merch using it... including a plate with a Grim design!

There are also plans to make plushies based on the Master Chef/Culinary Crucibles designs. Azul’s forehead is so prominent, it’s sending me— 😭

What he didn't know though was how everyone else in the hallway was just staring at the two of you. Could be the stars and flowers surrounding you two but what do I know?

If Leona wasn't such a loner then he would have started a fan club or something like that

But since he can't he is more on the “silent screeching teenager on the inside” trip

Like, my man is hiding behind corners, snapping pics, trying to smell the slightest bit of your perfume

Ok, maybe he is a bit more intense than an entire fan club usually is but he is just trying to figure out more about his prince char- *ahem* you

Five meters away Epel just stares at you two with an expression that can only be described as “Ugh”

Rook stops the music which played in the background, the piece surprisingly supportive of the situation

As if the moment needed even the slightest bit more to seem like an abridged version of a Disney film you even asked Vil if he was alright

One second later and Epel asked himself what the heck Disney is

But congrats, you have now what Vil would call “a troublesome fan”

Oh no, Vil wouldn't buy merch of you or something like that. He has an even better collection

If you were to push his clothing in his closet to the side you would see its wooden back littered with photos of you

Some are a few selfies the two of you had snapped together (it was just a nice memory. He totally didn't mean to use it in any creepy means) and other photos you were not aware of

Some of them are taken disturbingly in private moments like when you were cooking and somewhere buried even deeper is even one when you were starting to change your clothing...

Vil also starts to hog all your time

No more eating lunch with a group of students you deemed your friends. Oh no, now it's Vil, Epel and ,if our local harassments of overgrown house cats has behaved well, even Rook

Although Vil doesn't trust Rook 100% when something is about you. The queen knows after all that the hunter has his own sights on you and is more than ready to snatch you up at any moment

Should you try to distance yourself though I recommend wearing long sleeves, otherwise the desperate clawing of nails that are way too sharp will rip your skin to shreds, a desperate fan of yours hanging just as desperate as the fairest Queen was on her beauty on your arm

Do you hear that too? What you don't? Did I imagine the wedding bells just now?

When Malleus fell from his broom, most ungraceful, he was surprised when you suddenly caught him (although this tiny bit of hight wouldn't be able to harm him)

Even after he reassured you that he was more than just alright you still insisted to bring him to the school nurse just to be sure and even then you still treated him like he was something easily broken

Is... Is this how normal people feel when someone takes care of them?

The poor school nurse was almost screeching in fear when Malleus suddenly made a sound akin to purring

The situation is kinda as if the prince who fought against Maleficent suddenly apologized after striking her, making sure that she got better and then proposing to her

Ok, maybe he imagined the last part but he is just a lovesick fire spewing lizard in human form. Let him have his fantasies!

Malleus isn't your ordinary Fae though. Oh no. You are courted by royalty here but given his rather... unhealthy interest in you I am not sure if you could consider this a win or a loss

Gold, rubies, diamonds and much, much more is at your disposal. Don't tell anybody. Otherwise there will be break-ins

At this point it's a normal occurrence to see a scene from those clichè romance novels acted out in the hallways of NRC

But since Malleus has “Fae-prince-who-can-end-your-life-with-the-snap-of-a-finger” privileges no one dares to say anything

Malleus wouldn't be a good dragon if he weren't even the lighter bit hoarding

Only that it isn't just “a bit” but rather “hoards all the time” when something concerns you

This statistic is so interesting to me because of a few things.

(These "reasons" are purely my conjecture and may be right or wrong.)

All along I thought that Malleus was NOT popular in JP. Because a) He doesn't have many fanfics on Pixiv, and b) He doesn't really get voted highly in Yume, or Japanese xReader poll rankings. I've just come to a conclusion that he simply was not popular, but I somehow doubted that because his merch are ALWAYS sold out in Amazon JP and other stores. It's very rare to find Malleus items that aren't preorders. So I was thinking, Malleus JP fans are probably the silent majority-- those who don't really have time to create stuff, but are curious enough to search content through Google and has enough financial capability to hoard his merch: the working adult class. He is very popular with adult players.

He is very consistently popular in EN and was beaten by Riddle because of meta keywords like "How to beat Riddle twst" (Malleus does not have a boss battle early on), Riddle twst figure (Malleus does not have a scale figure yet), or Riddle twst cosplay (Riddle's just more pleasant to cosplay compared to Malleus tbh lol).

Malleus keywords are the horniest out of literally everyone. He's the face of twst's x Reader keywords both in EN and JP. Additionally, JP people have been searching for his specific body parts lmao. The others' popular keywords are pretty tame.

My marketing analysis from way before was correct. Malleus is the "honey trap" of the game; the character deliberately made to be appealing to hook the casual players quickly.

Still as time goes on you grow on him.

You never seem to get angry or upset, and it is so refreshing to have such a sweet person by his side.

It's like the sunshine baby x grumpy protector dynamic. He's kinda like your Jamil.

Furthermore, you're always there to support and encourage him and his brothers. It almost annoys him with how soft he is for you.

However he does lecture you when you do something especially dumb.

So I havent been posting up here in a while and it's been person reasons that I'm not gonna explain but regards to the twst fandom I'm out.

I'll still draw merch for it and stuff but I'm no longer interacting with the fandom. The hate against mlm within the fandom is gross and I'm not gonna try and be apart of a fandom where it's like a 50% chance the person I'm talking to is homophobic.

I have met some wonderful ppl because of twst and am so happy that we have a server where we can talk about twst and other stuff together. You guys r the real ones

I'd like to hear more of your relationship with Hunchback of Notre dame, since you mentioned you wanted Frollo character since getting into game

There's not too much to tell.

As a kid, naturally, I watched a lot of Disney movies. My dad even had Disney song cassette tapes we'd listen to in his car. I watched the film as a kid and I really liked the music. I also thought Esmerelda was very pretty, her and Jasmine were my favorites as a kid. But also, something about the movie is just kind off compared to other Disney movies. It's darker and for merch and stuff it's kind of ignored in comparison to other Renaissance films.

Sometime early on in university, I couldn't tell you exactly how old I was since I read a lot of random lit for funsies, I read Notre Dame. I remember going, "Hm! Frollo's not that bad of a guy!" at first, since he loved his little brother and did try and help Quasimodo as best as he could. He was a decent guy, more human. But... you know... his tragedy in the novel is his descent into not being a cool guy. And in the novel, a lot of... bad things happen, I mean, it's so not part of Disney's image.

After I finished reading it, I was like, "Who had the fucking gall to stand up in a Disney meeting and say, "I think we should adapt The Hunchback of Notre Dame?"" What an inspiration... Can you imagine the type of person who would say that shit? I'm floored by the fact that someone would suggest it and the fact that the company went through with it. If someone had said, "Let's adapt The Brothers Karamazov" that day, would they have gone with that instead? It's similarly fucked up, so if one is okay, why not the other? The fact that the Hunchback movie exists is so baffling to me. Why? Literally why? They got away with it, but... it's so weird.

I guess that's ultimately why I wanted Frollo. His existence in the Disney canon is so bizarre. Hunchback's not full on ignored like The Black Cauldron, but it's not often in the limelight in terms of what the company does. I almost want to rub their faces in Hunchback like, "Remember what you did! You made that, you cowards!" ...That's a weird impulse to be honest.

Also, learning about the villain assistants or whatever they're called in the Japanese parks made my desire for a twst Frollo even stronger. Veil is very cute. I mildly ship her with the Hook lady... so if Hook ever gets a twst design, maybe I'll ship 'em with Rollo a bit.

Twst merch haul!!💖

I honestly wasn’t expecting for the package to arrive today. That was fast! I still tried my best to keep the Idia and Malleus theme going. However, it proved to be a bit difficult to try, and acquire items for my shop this second time. As such, this will be the last haul for Malleus and Idia for the time being. I want to focus on the other twst boys.

There are some items I got for myself like Idia’s small LINE acrylic. I’m obsessed with the LINE art, y’all. I also got the doujinshis for me. If I don’t like them, I’ll put them up for sale. I’ve had one hell of a weekend at work (tax free weekend and being sick), so I’m ready to relax. I’ll list the stuff in my shop tomorrow. Good night!

Heyo! Do you have a personal ranking of all TWST (JP) events?

Though another random thing I want to say is about the events, do you think some events are more forgotten about than others??? I say this because I think the Sunset Savana Tamashina, Endless Halloween, Wish upon a star and Beans Day are usually not talked about as much as other events like the Ghost Marriage and Fairy Gala events.

Unless this is all just the TWST stuff I'm usually fed...

I haven't ranked all of the events myself since a lot of them fall into a "they're okay" middle ground category. (Besides, my rankings would be outdated and I’d have to come back and edit my list every month when new events come out.)

What I will say is that my favorite events right now are the following (in no particular order): Glorious Masquerade, Fairy Gala: If, Wish Upon a Star, Ghost Marriage, Beans Day (I + II), and White Rabbit Fest. I give more in-depth thoughts about my favorite events here!

I personally have not noticed a significant skew towards certain events over the others, though of course this could vary a lot depending on the smaller TWST circles you run in and/or what your social media algorithms feed you. The general trend tends to be a huge burst of discussion or related fan content during or around the time of the event's run or rerun, then the hype dies down once the event ends. Most of the event-specific content you'll see after the events (at least in my experience) are theories/analyses calling back to details mentioned in the events. TWST itself certainly doesn't discriminate against certain events; to this day, they still sometimes come out with merch for their earliest event, Beans Day. There's probably going to be another wave of event-themed merch to coincide with the later events.

To explain maybe why you may perceive certain events as more popular than others: not all events are created equal, and not all events drop interesting lore that people find worth discussing. The endings for Tamashina Mina and Endless Halloween Night were, as I recall, contentious or not well-received by pockets of the fandom. This could explain why they're not talked about much. Wish Upon a Star was notable for being the first time ever we saw the boys' individual rooms, but other than that... there wasn't anything that exciting to most. Beans Day has its age to consider. As the oldest event, it has maybe just eroded in memory due to the passage of time. Additionally, it's one of the few events (outside of Halloween ones) to prominently feature the entire cast, meaning everyone is fighting for the spotlight and thus makes it harder for specific events or interactions to stick out in people's minds.

And as to why Ghost Marriage and Fairy Gala are popular? I'll be 100% honest, I'm pretty sure it's because of the aesthetics. FG does not have a fantastic story, but man, do those outfits look good. GM is in a similar situation (who doesn't love a cute guy in a suit?), and it has the distinction of being the one and only TWST event with an overt "romance" theme (which appeals to the dense population of yumes and/or shippers in the fandom).

Book of life came before Coco (plus Disney didn't own the century whatever company that book of life originally was from) and when Disney did make their own Dia de los muertos themed movie they tried to TRADEMARK EL DIA DE LOS MUERTOS TO MAKE MERCH? Insane.

(Making Pastel de choclo and other chilean dishes like pebre but it just isn't the same with regular ingredients instead of your country ingredients yk? Oooh so I didn't have time to answer this yesterday since I was busy at work. But my general thoughts are that while I enjoy both movies and their portrayal of Día de Muertos, the book of life feels (and is) a story made for and by Mexicans for other Mexicans. You can tell from the music styling, the humor, and the artistic style itself! There are for sure some liberties taken (Xibalba is not a god in mythos it's the name of the underworld roughly) but it feels very true and faithful as an experience. Coco, while I enjoy it, feels more like a group of well intending white Americans wanting to make a movie about Día de Muertos, though I'll give credit they did have Latino artists and cultural workers involved. The style of the movie just also feels more American and, as part of a study I did in undergrad, most Mexicans and other Latinos in general feel that it was made with a very general audience in mind rather than Mexicans or Latinos at all.

La Muerte in the book of life is a very interesting version of her and her design is beautiful! Los muertos in general in the first movie have a more fun, varied design to them, while the second movie just looks and feels like another Pixar film. I don't think it's a bad movie, I loved it and the music is wonderful, but it doesn't feel as genuine, especially watching as a Mexican.

If you like the book of life, the creator also has Maya and the Three (set in the same universe) but also created the nickelodeon show Le Tigre and the CN show Victor and Valentino. He's a Mexican animator, so all his shows are set with that background in mind, but it's very enjoyable for anyone to watch! If you're a fan of the music the composer is Gustavo Alfredo Santaolalla, who also did the music for the Last of Us games and show, Brokeback Mountain, and also Maya and the Three.

As for the Disney trademark thing, I know their request was either revoked by Disney themselves or denied due to the backlash. For anyone not super familiar with Latin holidays and stuff, Disney trademarking Día de Muertos is the equivalent of Hallmark trying to trademark Christmas. The only thing they can trademark now is their specific characters and imagery associated with their film, but there's a lot of drama surrounding that and using the likeness of real people and their art in the film without permission.

(I feel you about the food tho, I can't make certain dishes without a very specific brands and items sometimes. I would actually refuse to cause it won't turn out right, and I'm not damning myself or my cooking abilities lmao. Azul would probably get so stressed out with both of us aslkjdalkj)

Hello! I know this is a bit late, and you got your answers from some people, but I hope this helps too~

A lot of people have been leaning to the idea that no, Valentines Day doesn't exist in Twst. I do agree with that thought because none of the Twst Valentines cards seemed to indicate anything that Valentines exists. For example, Floyd's 2022 letter goes:

Is it a thing for land-dwellers to just randomly gift each other stuff? I don’t see the point myself, but hey, thanks!

So it doesn't sound like Valentines exists. It sounds like a regular day when they received the gifts. Or maybe they do have some variation of Valentines, it's just that they either don't celebrate on the same day or they celebrate it differently. Or they just don't celebrate because they simply do not, plain and simple, and so any gifts they get, they either aren't aware it's Valentines or they ignore the implications and just take it as, "Oh a gift for me!"

But at the same time, I feel like there's more than just "Valentines probably doesn't exist in Twst". Like, maybe there's a reason why the boys don't register it as a Valentines gift.

The letters are not sent out on March, where White Day would fall, but in June. Could it be because maybe our gift just didn't reach them on time?

Some people said that the reason why the letters are in English and not Japanese is because the JP audience is still the target, and they want to make them feel like they're getting a letter that feels "out of this world" for them. A lot of Japanese people don't understand English, after all. So I wonder if that also has to do with it. Like I imagined that yeah the preorder and waiting for it stuff is obviously due to the manufacturers needing to make so many orders. But what if it also emulates the whole waiting period between the sending of gifts and the receiving because you are in separate worlds? But at the same time, a lot of letters mention stuff like, "Let's meet at lunch/after school!" which would throw out that theory immediately. unless idk, Yuu wakes up to a pile of letters and chocolates in their dorm and they're like ah shit here we go again and mails all this to the boys

Either way, it's really fun getting this kind of slap of reality in knowing that Twisted Wonderland is a world like ours and yet not so. Also really interesting how you'd find such worldbuilding lore in the merch of the game, which makes this kind of thing really enjoyable.

OKAY SO i said yesterday that i would make a post about how anime weekend atlanta went, so... basically it was a bit of a mixed bag because while i got to see tons of cool cosplays and merch and go to some neat panels, we (as in me and my dad who was traveling with me) ended up not only having car troubles the entire weekend but also had some absolutely ridiculous problems with ordering food. just as an example, one night we ordered a pizza and it took 3 hours to arrive and we never got told there would be any kind of delay 😭 BUT i will go ahead and share my cosplays and then list off some good things that happened! i'm slightly embarrassed about posting my face on here since i've never done that before but here goes:

i was edward elric on thursday and friday at AWA and lilia vanrouge (pop music club version) on saturday and sunday! i did a bunch of thrifting and DIYing (and pulling things i already owned out of my closet for lillia lmao) for both of these and i am especially proud of that automail glove. i also went to two twisted wonderland cosplay photoshoots on both saturday and sunday which was definitely fun, and i met todd haberkorn while in my ed cosplay and got him to autograph the same fullmetal alchemist artbook that i've previously had signed by caitlin glass! i also bought a handful of silly little trinkets and i will put photos of all this other stuff under a cut so people who don't care don't have it clogging their dash too badly.

and uhhh i think that's all i feel like sharing on here?? i wish i had gotten to go to more panels but the various unexpected issues i had throughout the con kept me from having the time to go to many, although the ones i did get to see were great. there was one where a nuclear propulsion plant operator and NASA software engineer graded various sciencey anime on how good or bad their science was and did a very thorough examination of whether or not the premise of planetes--a screw hitting a spaceship, putting a hole in it, and taking out an intercontinental suborbital flight--was plausible. he concluded that it is and gave the overall series an A+ for scientific accuracy, and i've never seen this show but now i want to.
