Half-human Rollo works in a traveling caravan to find his way to his lost brother Jehan. In between his fire puppeteer performances, he cares for Ugène, a deaf elf child abandoned by his guardians. One day, a dragon in a cage lands in Rollo's lap, promising to fly him across the continent in exchange for help with his own quest.

For a long time, bot comments and scammers that prey on people on ao3 didn't bother with my fics. Writing exclusively for a rarepair in a middling fandom helped in that sense. Even now I don't get a crazy number of them or anything, but they're all art scammers (who offer generic praise, ask to move the convo elsewhere, then try to trick people into paying for art that never manifests or turns out to be AI slop). Today, one messaged me here on tumblr.

It's just... if they looked at my fics at all, they'd see that I already work with an incredible artist... Not only am I already aware of the scam, but I'd be the worst person to try it on even if I didn't know. Doubly insulting
