okay so, if we didn't get a twst version timon, pumba, and rafiki in the afterglow savannah event then that just means vil, kalim, and lilia represents them. because don't get me started that in that one part where lilia was against three hyena beastmen and then remembering that RAFIKI (the monkey with a blue ass) was fighting hyenas around the climax of lion king (animation).

Q. Shopping for fall/winter clothes with Leona

🍂 Though the Sage Island weather was still warm before the chilly fall weather would take over in a few days, Leona realized begrudgingly that he didn’t have any clothes suited for fall and winter beyond that bright-orange parka Ruggie bought him for Camp Vargas a while ago.

🍂 Leona never brought his clothes from back at the Afterglow Savannah palace to NRC (he never packed anything), and he usually relied on Ruggie to buy clothes for him whenever it was necessary.

🍂 It was Saturday, so Leona figured that he could tell Ruggie to go to the Sage Island village and buy clothes for him.

🍂 “Oi, Ruggie,” Leona approached Ruggie in their dorm’s hallway. “Go buy me some clothes.”

🍂 “Eh? I’m busy with your chores today,” Ruggie carried a bin overflowing with Leona’s dirty laundry. “Y’know, Y/N mentioned that they’re planning to go shopping for fall and winter clothes later today. Why don’t you join them?”

🍂 Ruggie sometimes ate lunch with you, Ace, Deuce, Grim, Epel and Jack when he had the chance. Not only did the hyena do so to get a chance to steal more food, but also, it was fun seeing you get visibly flustered just at the mention of Leona’s name.

🍂 Ruggie expected Leona to say “No” or “Just buy me clothes tomorrow.” Instead Leona yawned and said, “Alright. Hold down the fort for me while I’m gone.”

🍂 Ruggie snickered as Leona made his way to the dorm’s mirror portal. “Shishishi, you owe me one, Leona.”

🍂 Minutes later, Leona arrived at your doorstep and knocked on the Ramshackle dorm’s door.

🍂 “Leona?” you opened the door, your eyes widening to see Leona here and awake on a Saturday.

🍂 You were just about to leave for the Sage Island village’s outlet mall. Grim didn’t want to come; the cat demon wanted to sleep in.

🍂 “Hey,” Leona leaned against the door frame, his bare arms crossed against his sleeveless black leather jacket. “Ruggie told me you’re gonna go shopping for warmer clothes later. I need warmer clothes too, so can I come with?”

🍂 “Of course!” you beamed up at him. “What are you planning to buy specifically?”

🍂 “Nothin’ much, probably just a couple of sweaters and jackets to keep me warm,” Leona answered. “What about you?”

🍂 “Warmer pajamas, coats, sweaters,” you ticked off with your fingers as you and Leona walked out of Ramshackle and onto the main cobblestone walkway of NRC. “And little coats for Grim, too.”

🍂 The two of you strolled out of NRC and to the TWST (Twisted Wonderland System of Transportation) bus stop right outside the school. Leona was used to the bus since he took it whenever NRC had a Magift tournament at RSA.

🍂 One bus ride later, the two of you arrived at Sage Island village’s outlet mall, which contained a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants.

🍂 You and Leona entered a popular gender-inclusive and size-inclusive clothing store at the front of the outlet that Cater recommended to you. The shop contained endless gold racks of clothing in every color.

🍂 Leona didn’t care much for fashion and shopping. He also didn’t care if a clothing item was expensive or not as long as it allowed him to move comfortably and it didn’t itch. However, Leona didn’t leave your side as you combed through the racks.

🍂 You easily found stuff for yourself, but Leona was terrible at choosing clothes for himself. He didn’t know his exact size because he always had other people tailor his clothes for him, so you told him to go try on the sweaters and long-sleeved tops you found for him to see what would fit.

🍂 He looked handsome in everything he tried on. Emerging from his dressing room for what felt like the millionth time, Leona stubbornly tugged on the neck of a black turtleneck sweater that fit him perfectly and made him look like an actor. “It’s suffocating,” Leona grumbled, learning that he wasn’t a fan of turtlenecks.

🍂 “Ooh, how about this cardigan?” you pulled out an emerald cardigan in Leona’s size and held it up to him once he emerged from the dressing room again. Leona was relieved to be back in his Savanaclaw dorm uniform. “It matches your eyes.”

🍂 Leona took the cardigan, only because you said it matched his eyes. He put it on, enjoying the softness of the cardigan.

🍂 Leona only liked the emerald cardigan, some black long-sleeved shirts, a gray windbreaker jacket, and a thick brown wool coat out of all the things you picked out for him.

🍂 Shopping with Leona was more fun than you thought it would be. He would make snarky remarks at some of the trendier clothing items, such as, “The hell’s a bodysuit?” or “What’s the point of a crop top and why would people wear it when it’s cold outside?”

🍂 “Maybe you should try on a crop top and find out,” you grinned mischievously, earning a cat-like hiss from Leona.

🍂 As you looked through the toddler’s section to find a raincoat for Grim, Leona turned to the racks to see if he could find something for you.

🍂 His sharp eyes landed on this red Christmas sweater with multicolored string lights woven into its fabric and silver tinsel dangling from the sleeves. The sweater was also embroidered with Santa Claus and his reindeers on the front.

🍂 Like your world, Twisted Wonderland liked to capitalize on Christmas right after Halloween.

🍂 “Hey, herbivore,” Leona held up the sweater and smirked. “How about this for ya?”

🍂 You matched his smirk and replied, “How about you get one too so we can match?”

🍂 As you approached the pajamas section, some lion onesies caught your eye. “Leona, look at these!” you pulled out two lion onesies in your and Leona’s sizes.

🍂 Leona held up the lion onesie you handed him. “I’m insulted,” he frowned at the fluffy caramel-colored lion onesie with cartoonish lion ears and a tail on the back.

🍂 “I’m gonna try it on,” you went to one of the dressing rooms as Leona plopped down on one of the shop’s plush couches.

🍂 If there was one thing Leona learned about shopping that day, it was that shopping got physically tiring real fast with all the walking and standing. However, Leona also found shopping fun with your company.

🍂 After a few minutes, you emerged from your dressing room in your full lion onesie glory.

🍂 “You’re looking at the next dorm leader of Savanaclaw,” you joked, doing a full spin with the onesie’s lion tail. Jokes aside, the onesie was really soft and warm. It was perfect for wearing during cold nights.

🍂 “Pfft, I’d like to see you try living in Savanaclaw for a day,” Leona smirked in amusement, resting his chin in his palm.

🍂 “Hey, I could if I wanted to,” you put your hands on your hips, but the onesie didn’t make you look intimidating to Leona at all. Instead, he found you quite adorable. “You should try the onesie on, too, Leona.”

🍂 “A lion in a lion onesie?” Leona deadpanned, yet he still had the onesie you picked out for him in his hands along with his other clothes.

🍂 “Pleeeease,” you pouted at Leona for good measure. “We could match.”

🍂 Your pout was all it took for Leona to stand up and make his way to the empty dressing room next to yours. “You’re lucky that you’re cute,” Leona mumbled as he closed his dressing room door.

🍂 “Wait, you think I’m cute?” your eyes widened in shock despite Leona already being in his dressing room.

🍂 Inside his dressing room, Leona face-palmed himself at the fact that he said that you were cute out loud. As he pulled on the lion onesie, he had to admit that it was really soft.

🍂 When he came out of his dressing room in the lion onesie, you couldn’t contain your giggles. The buff, intimidating lion beastman leader of Savanaclaw was indeed wearing a lion onesie.

🍂 “You’re cute, too,” you grinned at Leona, who’s grumpy expression contrasted the cute lion onesie on him. His own lion ears flattened against the hood of the onesie.

🍂 “Hmph,” Leona grumped, yet a smile fought its way onto his face at being called “cute” by you. He also made no move to return to his dressing room and change out of the onesie.

🍂 After much convincing, you managed to take a selfie with Leona with the two of you in the onesies (he made you promise that you would never show the picture to anyone). The two of you then changed back to your normal clothes and finalized the clothing items that each of you would buy.

🍂 “You’re buying the onesie?” you inquired, shocked that Leona wanted to buy it.

🍂 “Why not? It’s comfy,” Leona patted the lion onesie that rested on top of the other clothes on his arm as the two of you went to the cash register.

🍂 “Are you paying together or separate?” The cashier smiled at you and Leona.

🍂 “Separate,” you and Leona answered at the same time. You giggled at that, while Leona chuckled.

🍂 Before you could step forward to pay for your and Grim’s stuff first, Leona took your lion onesie from your hands.

🍂 “Lemme pay for your onesie,” Leona stepped forward to dump all of his clothes on the cash register’s desk. He neatly put his onesie and your onesie on top.

🍂 “No,” you shook your head. “I can afford it.”

🍂 Leona, who already gave the cashier his luxury credit card, turned back to face you. “Think of it as a thank you for helping me pick out my clothes today,” Leona winked at you. “Plus, you can treat me to lunch later.”

🍂 The cashier began folding Leona’s clothes neatly into a recyclable bag. “Excellent choice on the onesies. They’re popular among couples.”

🍂 “We’re not a couple.” you and Leona corrected the cashier at the same time with flustered expressions. Realizing that you both said the same thing at the same time, you and Leona glanced at each other only to both look away swiftly.

🍂 “Uh-huh,” the cashier mused, unconvinced. The cashier handed Leona his bag of clothes and you stepped forward to pay for your own clothes.

🍂 Everything you needed to buy for yourself and Grim was pretty affordable, and you had saved up more than enough to buy all these clothes. Plus, Crowley recently gave you an allowance because 1. He was technically responsible for you and 2. He said the allowance was from “the endless kindness of his heart.”

🍂 After paying for your clothes, you left the store with Leona. It was about 1 p.m., a good time for lunch.

🍂 “Are you hungry?” you asked Leona, who gave you your wrapped-up lion onesie and then checked his phone to see if Ruggie or Jack texted him about anything Savanaclaw-related.

🍂 “Yeah,” Leona replied as he switched his phone off.

🍂 “Ooh, let’s go check out this cafe in the outlet that Cater told me about,” you suggested. “They have some meat dishes, too. Cater said the cafe’s popular so we should hurry.”

🍂 “Alright,” Leona agreed. As the two of you walked through the outlet, you both noticed that more people crowded the outlet since the two of you arrived.

🍂 People shuffled and bumped past you and Leona. “Hey,” Leona took your hand in his. “Hold my hand so we don’t lose each other.”

🍂 “Ok,” you glanced down at Leona’s hand. You shifted your hand slightly to intertwine your fingers with his so that you wouldn’t be able to lose each other. Leona’s hand was slightly rough since he never used lotion, but you didn’t mind one bit.

🍂 Leona almost stopped in his tracks when he felt your fingers intertwining with his. It felt like the two of you were a couple on a date, and he liked the thought of that.

🍂 A light breeze swept through the outlet to signal the start of fall, and Leona was glad to have your hand keeping his warm as the two of you continued your unofficial date.

Little notes:

🍓 A lil bit of world building, but I like to think that the TWST world has a public transportation system named TWST, which stands for “Twisted Wonderland System of Transportation.”

🍓A little post-story headcanon: Leona likes to wear the lion onesie around the dorm, so his Savanaclaw underclassman and even Jack now think that onesies are trendy and got onesies for themselves, too. Ruggie couldn’t stop laughing when he first saw Leona wearing that lion onesie.

I wonder what the plot for this event would be like :0 glomas lowkey skewed my expectations for a Twst event HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA so I kinda expect a story that’s thrilling but at the same time, the current hometown events have been really chill so far. But regardless, I think I’ll end up liking a lot of things about it, especially in terms of worldbuilding and character lore xD Twst is just that good with their writing

I kinda want an Afterglow Savannah event, not just to see Rook's many siblings but also to see a bit more of African culture from a twisted wonderland perspective. I'm African myself and I barely feel rep in media as an pure blooded African, not African American at all (no offence to them ofc). But I still really really would like to see it

I really want to visit the Afterglow/Sunset Savanna too!! I’m interested in seeing how TWST blends the traits and behaviors of real animals (lions, hyenas, etc.) with various African cultures (which, admittedly, I have very little knowledge of myself). It would be great in general to see more media representation of groups that are typically underrepresented! ^^

There’s also a lot of unanswered questions that preexisting lore has alluded to but never explicitly confirmed that I’d like more details on (such as why hyenas are considered lower class, or what kind of ruler Farena/Falena is, and what role Rook’s large family plays that grants them such wealth and the right to easy, fast intercontinental travel/warp pads). I feel that everyone from the Sunset Savanna has interesting family to meet and lots of lore to explore! We’ll probably get to pay a visit there someday, since we already had the Silk City and the Harveston events... It’s only a matter of when!

I know that Rook’s birthday has passed, but I saw a post today asking why Rook speaks French and I did look into this in an Rook Analaysis essay that I wrote for his birthday but didn’t post it here. So that post kinda made me want to post it to explain or hopefully look more into his character. 

Rook Hunt is a mysterious and attractive character. Despite his unusual habits, he’s a true gentleman but is often seen as having strange characteristics. Here I will attempt to look into Rook’s character design to celebrate his birthday!!

Rook so far in the game is the only character we see speaking a language from our world, French. Some have found this confusing or unnecessary but actually, Rook speaking French makes perfect sense. Rook comes from Afterglow Savannah, a land based on the movie, the Lion King just like it’s NRC dorm counterpart. The Lion King is said to take place in Africa, specifically Kenya. Inspiration on the landscapes in the movie was from the animators visiting Kenya (Bake, 2019). French is the official language of 11 countries in Africa and the secondary language in 10, making it the 5th most spoken language in the world (Chutel, 2018). Kenya is one of the countries with french as its main language. Since rook comes from Afterglow Savannah, it’s natural that he would have qualities matching the area just like Ruggie and Leona who also come from the same place. But unlike them, Rook resides in the Pomefiore dorm, therefore he holds qualities for both of these. Therefore, Rook does not come from France or represent France, he is based on Africa and most likely comes from the twst version of it which would be Afterglow Savannah.

Although Rook is not French, many white Africans in Africa, especially South Africa originated from France, Germany and the Netherlands in 1652 (jyu.fi). It's common for some twst characters to be a mix of cultures and themes. Rook is one example of this, he’s a blend of Afterglow Savannah and Pomefiore as he comes from Afterglow and is based on the hunter from Snow White. Snow White is said to be based in Germany, specifically Germany during the Holy Roman Empire (esri). Germany is one of the three main countries previously mentioned, that majority of white Africans came from, which suits Rook’s appearance. Rook’s hats also resemble fashion from this time as well as matching his Snow White counterpart. As seen below:

Rook’s hair also appeals to both the hunter from Snow White and the matching time period. These hat styles were worn by those of higher class and by Rook wearing it, reflecting his position as deputy dorm leader of Pomefiore. 

The 14th century was a time of vibrant poetry explosion fitting Rook’s personality. An example of a famous poet from this time is Dante, famously known for writing “The Divine Comedy” (Interesting Literature). He chose to write in Italian instead of Latin which was common during these times. French and Italian are both known as “romance” languages that both derived from Latin, which was the language of the Holy Roman Empire during this time (Language TSAR). When it comes to Rook giving out nicknames, these too fit the time period as it was common for people to be named after their place or qualities which is what Rook is seen as doing. An example is Riddle who he calls “Roi de Roses” which means “King of Roses” which fits the style of names of those of the high class (Benicoeur and Gwynek, 2003). 

Bows were very common and practical in armies from the 12th to 16th centuries despite barely being recorded in history (Towens, 2019). This reflects perfectly onto Rook due to how little we know about him and the little trace he leaves behind which pairs well with his stealthy personality as a hunter but also shows his side as a “soldier” or a “guard” to Vil, his beliefs of beauty and possible other things we aren’t aware about. The main role of professional archers were for defense but were also used as mercenaries during crusades. Rook fits both of these as he plays the role of Vil’s defense and the protector of beauty wanting to cherish it. He can also be seen as a double edged sword as even though he stands by Vil, many have speculated that he may at some point betray Vil or help Neige doing what he believes to be most advantageous. Archery symbolises “aligning with the target” (Girvin, 2013) which means to give support towards something. Rook is seen as taking more supportive roles throughout the game by helping other students like Epel as seen in Leona’s lab coat story, helping him make a potion for his class (Twisted Wonderland Wiki). It can also mean to become the heart of a community, be truthful, in their times of need to be the voice of their minds to help solve their problems. Rook being honest can also be reflected in his arrows as they symbolise the sharp and accurate truths they contain, this can be seen in Vil’s lab coast story as he blatantly calls Vil “fat” with the intention of helping to increase his beauty, which despite his protests, Vil is seen appreciating (Twisted Wonderland Wiki).The archer is linked with the Centaur and Sagittarius (ironically his birth sign) which represents having insight which can be linked to Rook having knowledge of other students and of other things that normal people would not. Rook is known to freely speak his mind with what we see as with intentions of helping them even if his words or actions may be seen as weird or out of place, but in the end they have the effects he was aiming for or benefit the person in some way. Also “that hearts align in embracing the perfection of that targeting” (Girvin, 2013) which is poetic in Rook being a hunter and calling himself the “Hunter of Love.” An archer remains cool and observes from afar, becoming the symbol of honour, precision and patience.

In the Spanish caves of Cova dels Cavalls, they found etched carvings of archers estimated to be from about 7000 years ago (Stanley, 2020). They were believed to be a form or hunting magic ritual to manifest good hunting, this fits well with Rook being a magic user in the game and makes him wielding a bow make sense as well as again representing his Snow White counterpart. Archery and magic connections as referenced when Rook is in battle as he summons his magic attacks with an arrow releasing maneuver, as seen below:

This can also reference his love for art, arrows bound in one of the first forms of art for centuries and also shows their use and endless help throughout time. A metaphorical and physical weapon just like with Rook, attacking metaphorically with his words and physically with his arrows/magic. Arrows are meant to be simple yet two dimensional (with its pointy and flat ends), Rook too is portrayed as being simple yet ironically he is also not. Two dimensional as in maybe despite all our theorising, he may just be a simple man who loves beauty yet there are still many unanswered questions about him and his past. However this can be said for other characters in the game as well, so perhaps Rook Hunt is just a simple man with weird qualities? That is still to be discovered. “The durability of the arrow metaphor, as with archery in general, looks unlikely to go anywhere soon,” (Stanley, 2020) this is a simple symbol linked with archery which can further be associated with the idea of Rook being simple and not as complicated as we believe. Rook being able to use light and dark magic can reflect this as humans are neither dark or light, they are simple beings with desires and goals that can be either good or bad. Rook too has his desires that some might perceive as odd, his goals are simple to (as seen in the wish upon the stars event) see all the beauty in the world.

In Japan, Zen archery (or Kyudo) where the goal was to “achieve a balance among mind, body, and bow, which gives rise to a unity that links the spirit to the target,” (Encyclopedia.com, 2020). Which again reflects Rook’s ability of using both types of magic, showing his inner peace and balance and ability to use both types of magic. He is a character that we don't see explode or express vivid emotions which could be linked with his hunting too. Bow and arrows have been known as symbols of good luck against evil in Japan since immemorial. We will probably see this in action during Vil’s overblot as that will be the evil to defeat in Chapter 5 alongside the other characters. 

The word “rook” has multiple meanings, like crows. Many have associated this and Rook’s poem about Crowley as them being signs of a possible connection between the two. Although this theory is very interesting and I would love for a twist like this, Disney is honestly too stupid to make a story as wonderful as that, but I could be wrong (please prove me wrong Disney). On the other hand it could symbolise Rook’s knowledge of everyone and how he could be aware of some of Crowley’s secrets or the secrets/mysterious of the school. They tend to be watchful creatures with great insight, which can be said the same for Rook as he observes other students and has knowledge of things that others normally do not have. Crows are also associated with transformation and change (Clifford, 2020)  which could represent Rook helping Vil and Epel, along with others to bring forth their beauty. There is also a well known nursery rhyme about crows, as seen below:

Although the history behind the rhyme is not that clear, the seventh line does hold some connection to  Rook’s wide range of secrets that he knows and holds himself. Rook is also used for loud and sociable people or animals who love to talk, Rook is known for his loud and expressive persona that fits this description. Rook can also mean cheat, which could link to him sabotaging Vil to save Neige. The name is given to those with dark hair which is clearly not Rook (with his blond locks) but could refer to his hunter counterpart instead.

Rook is famous for his golden bob that is quite the debate. However bobs have a deep history. In the 20th century, bobs used to symbolise independent, progessive people encouraging a more daring personality during those times. Movies have been the main reason for the spread and back in style of the bob. Rook embodies a free personality with his odd attire in the dorm that symbolises beauty (hunting boots and hats) showing his more bold side that can also be seen by his freely open speech. Joan of Arc is the main inspiration of the bob that was brought back by Antoine, a celebrity hairdresser, which he showed in his salon in 1909 (V is for Vintage, 2012). Although she wore it for more practical meanings, she still stands for representing the people and doing what she believed in. It’s likely though that the bob was more inspired by the hunter’s hair style for Rook yet it still represents daring and progressive people which Rook is commonly known for with his views and actions. 

In conclusion, Rook Hunt is an odd yet interesting character. He is neither complex or simple. We still have much to learn about him which we hopefully will in the coming chapters and his birthday event. Although his character design may seem strange, in the end they make perfect sense when looking at the connections they all have towards the game and it’s details. I hope that this managed to clear up Rook’s character and explain more about him. However, there are a few attributes that are still questionable which if Disney has any concept of storytelling, they will explain...I hope for Rook’s sake. His stalking and obsession could be linked to how he sees himself as nothing much and viewing others as better or more beautiful, in that case he’s got some emotional package. Still does not excuse his actions. These tendencies might also be them expanding on a hunter stalking and keeping track of their prey, in this case for Rook it would be people he finds interesting. In the end he’s one of the many wonderful boys we have to learn more about and love.

Leona character headcanons pt 2

🍓: Again, I can’t sleep so here’s another post of my Leona character headcanons + analysis (I’ve also had this in drafts for a few weeks now lol)

🦁 During the first Halloween event in TWST EN this year with the Magicam Monsters, some of the NRC visitors recognized Leona as the Magift player they saw on TV, and not as a prince of Afterglow Savannah. Like, throughout the whole Magicam Monster fiasco, none of the Magicam Monsters recognized Leona as a prince (because if they did, they’d probably take pics or videos of him for clout). This makes me think that Leona probably doesn’t join his family much for royal engagements, or he just chooses to not go to public events as a member of the Kingscholar royal family a lot (if at all).

🦁 But also…I wonder if Leona feels that it’s nice people recognize him as a Magift player and not as a prince. Because all his life back home, he was regarded as the second prince who could harm anything and anyone with his Unique Magic. And here at Sage Island/NRC, he’s recognized for his prowess and talent in Magift.

🦁 Everytime Leona comes home for break or a holiday, Cheka would barge into his room with a plushie in hand at night and sleep next to him. The cub got his own room ever since he turned five, but hates it because he doesn’t like being a big room all alone.

🦁 Anyways, Leona always tries to get Cheka to go back to his own room by saying “Y’know that if you don’t sleep in your own room like a good cub, a monster will come out of your closet to scare ya” (a reference to Monsters, Inc. hehe). However, this tactic doesn’t work on Cheka; it only makes the cub more scared at the thought of a monster in his closet and cling onto Leona.

🦁 So Leona always has to double—no, triple check that there aren’t any monsters in Cheka’s room every night by looking under Cheka’s bed and in his closet (fun headcanon, Cheka’s current room was the one Leona had as a kid). Even if Leona does make a show of checking that there aren’t any monsters, Cheka refuses to leave his side.

🦁 Leona’s not an extravagant gift giver, but he’s a good gift giver. He’s not the type to buy someone a random gift without the person’s interests in mind assuming that they’ll just like it because “it’s the thought that counts” or “it could be useful.” He’s perceptive of people’s likes, dislikes, and interests.

🦁 Adding onto the point above, I thought about the Camp Vargas event and how Leona gave Ruggie his credit card to buy clothes for the two of them for the camp. We could assume Leona doesn’t worry or care about money since he’s royalty and thus from a rich family, but Leona is also really smart and analytical. He may not be economically shrewd like Azul or good with money like Ruggie, but Leona isn’t so privileged or out of touch with reality to the point where he’s apathetic to the value of money.

🦁 After all, Leona basically trained and taught himself the qualities and knowledge of a king. One of the qualities a ruler of a country has to have is to be knowledgeable and smart about money/currency, which shapes the present and future of a country.

🦁 Thus, during the Camp Vargas event, I’d say Leona kind of gifted Ruggie new clothes when he gave Ruggie his credit card to buy clothes for the two of them. This may be me reaching, because Leona probably just needed clothes and Ruggie did too, BUT if Leona didn’t care, he’d tell Ruggie to buy his own outdoor wear with his own finances.

🦁 Leona was also probably aware that the designer outerwear Ruggie bought for himself and Leona were pricy (which again, is probably not an issue for Leona), BUT if Leona didn’t care about Ruggie to some degree, Leona wouldn’t have let Ruggie use his credit card for Ruggie’s clothes. Because usually, we’ve only seen or heard of Ruggie buying stuff for only Leona using Leona’s credit card.

🦁 And during the Halloween event, Leona and Ruggie went to Mr. S’s Mystery Shop to buy refreshments for the Savanaclaw members who were working at their stamp tour spot. This was Leona’s idea. Ruggie even asked Leona “Why can’t you admit that you care?”.

🦁 All in all, Leona cares about his underclassmen, his Savanaclaw members, and his family, even if he doesn’t show it outright. He’s a generous and perceptive person, which makes him a good gift giver.

🦁 Leona doesn’t use social media much, if at all. He’s not like Malleus where he’s completely clueless about technology and social media, but Leona just doesn’t see the point of social media. He’s not into customizing his phone either with wallpaper or widgets suited to his interests (does he even have a favorite color??).

🦁 If he has a Magicam, it’s private with no profile pic and with less than ten followers. He only uses Magicam to follow collector chess board accounts, and for the occasional cute cat or kitten videos (they’re cute, ok?).

🦁 Leona, being the uncle that he is (yes he’s a young uncle, but still an uncle), also isn’t too familiar with social media slang. Ruggie texted him once “brb” when doing an errand and Leona asked out loud “What the hell does ‘brb’ mean?” A Savanaclaw member who happened to be there incorrectly told Leona “brb” stands for “birb”, which is a cute way to say “bird.” Leona wondered for a sec if Ruggie found a bird on his way doing errands and captured the bird for lunch or something.

🦁 Pfft I just realized in the far, far future when Cheka has kids someday (say in like twenty-thirty years from now), Cheka’s kids will call Leona “Gruncle” Leona, like how Mabel and Dipper from the show Gravity Falls call their great uncle “Gruncle” Stan.

🦁 During the second Halloween event in TWST EN in the Spectral Realm, Leona was ready to sing “Be Prepared” to Ace. It seems like “Be Prepared” was a song Leona loved as a kid since he always asked his caretakers to sing that song for him instead of “It’s a Small World.”

🦁 I love to think that Leona still sings “Be Prepared” sometimes when he takes a shower, and that’s the only time he’ll sing because he doesn’t like people hearing him sing.

🦁 I don’t think he’s a bad singer, he’s probably an average singer who gets really fired up and passionate when singing lyrics he relates to.

🦁 He doesn’t seem like the type that would enjoy or seek out musicals or rom-com shows and movies (unless his sister-in-law made him watch it with her).

🦁 Leona strikes me as the type of person to watch sports games or even like those game shows like Jeopardy! because he likes figuring out the answers before the contestants on screen can.

🦁 Cheka makes Leona watch cartoons with him when Leona comes home for break, and all those cartoon theme songs are stuck in Leona’s head.

🦁 More of a Cheka headcanon but the cub has a little calendar given to him by his parents so that he can learn how to read and use a calendar, but the cub only uses it to cross out with crayon the days until Leona comes home :’).

🦁 Last headcanon for now but isn’t it interesting that for Leona’s Dorm Uniform SSR card (arguably his main card), his powers are Flora??? Which really contrasts with his Unique Magic “King’s Roar.”

🦁 It makes me think that Leona might’ve spent a lot of time throughout his childhood or early teen years honing his flora magic to prove to people back home that he was so much more than his Unique Magic “King’s Roar,” but people still feared him.

🍓 Lots of R Cards uncapping besides Pirate Leona coming home, and got Lilia’s Labwear card as well. I wish I got Leona’s Labwear too but I never seem to get him in ten pulls. And let me tell you, Labwear Leona lives rent free in my head.

🍓 Also it’s been a while since I pulled for cards bc I just don’t really pull for cards unless there’s like a Leona card I don’t have, and when I was doing the pulls, idk why but the Dark Mirror and the flames and stuff felt like…magical??? Idk it made me feel like I was there in person but also it’s 2 a.m.

Honestly every time I pull for Leona and get him I just imagine him coming out of the summoning coffin and him trying to say his opening line but I just interrupt him because I’m in TEARS and I’M HUGGING HIM

Is he gonna make me walk the plank for that? Yes. Am I gonna keep annoying him, though? Also yes.

Hi Strawbetty! Sorry I haven't sent many asks these past 2ish weeks, life got a little busy😓. How have you been?

I took some time to catch up on your blog and so much has happened!

First of all, "The Birthday Lion" is so good! I love how you showed a bit of Leona's past, it's a good mix of nostalgic and sad, but also helps highlight how happy he is now with MC. Makes me want to shower him in love!

Third of all, I agree with all your thoughts on that Leona fact sheet! Reading the fact sheet plus your thoughts really helps highlight how complex of a character Leona is.

Hi, mint anon! I hope that life is treating you well despite all the busyness, and thank you for stopping by when you can :). I’ve been pretty busy myself and I think August will be a slower month for me in terms of writing and publishing stories.

So much has happened, indeed! Thank you for loving “The Birthday Lion”! I wasn’t sure how Leona’s interview with Malleus would run down in the JP Server, but I really wanted to write a lil dialogue about the two of them talking about gargoyles and chess pieces haha. And yea, this lion man needs to be showered with lots of love🤧💖. Honestly the birthdays in TWST confuse me because I’m not sure if Leona’s still 20, 21 now in the EN Server, or 22-23 if we’re going by JP Server. If you or someone else reading this would like to clarify that for me, that would be very helpful.

I hope you got to pull Leona’s b-day card as well! Also thank you for reading my reblog and analysis on Leona’s fact sheet. A lot of people on this app have already done analyses on Leona that are super cool, so I hope I contributed to that with my moon-phases analogy lol. We truly do need an Afterglow/Sunset Savannah event to get to know Leona’s family and Leona himself more.

As for “A Birthday Invitiation,” thank you for finding it funny! I wrote it on this app’s drafts the second after I found out the news that Malleus would be Leona’s interviewer and pie-thrower. I love the Diasomnia family dynamic between Malleus, Lilia, Silver and Sebek. I hope I portrayed them well even if it was just a short story.

I don’t know if “groovying” is an actual term but I’m gonna use it too lol! Leona’s SR Ceremonial Robes card was one of my first cards in TWST so it holds a special place in my heart as well.
