1:30am time for thoughts on Twogami.
1. They are a member of Byakuya's family and lost that "fight to the death (but not really) thing". I dunno. Their whole thing about imitating Byakuya and telling Byakuya's story felt personal (at least in my perspective), and then there's the question of how someone could have no identity in the first place...unless they were forced to give it up? Also, why does Byakuya seemingly let someone be his imposter (albeit, the ultimate Byakuya imposter)? Byakuya's freetimes have him asking about what it's like for Makoto to be a nobody, maybe he was curious about Twogami's life? Maybe he intentionally lets Twogami pose as him? Or Twogami's great enough to hide under the radar lol.
2. This one's more random and probably less likely but I just came up with it: what if they were the control group getting a lobotomy with or before Hajime? And this was before they became Ultimate Imposter, maybe even the cause of it, but maybe it made them lose their memories of being in Byakuya's family before that fight to the death thing? I dunno, too tired to expand on this or think this one through right now. I didnt see the anime so this probably contradicts it.

*While the Shorties had dinner together as a family, for Yayoi it was different.. He was alone again. Just like before. Nobody to eat with.. Until.*
Yayoi.
*Twogami?*
Surprised? The Future Foundation hired me not too long ago.
But since I have no identity they gave me one. I suppose you can call me Sagishi.
That's a nice name! Whatcha doing here?

So, how would Goodbye Happy Havoc Byakuya be different than Twogami from Goodbye Despair? And how would Twogami from Trigger Despair be different from Byakuya from Trigger Happy Havoc?
Ok this answer might get a bit long winded but Byakuya in Goodbye Despair IS still a Togami, hes just lost the whole right to the inheritance and as a result got his identity stripped away from him, which is partially why he’s able to impersonate other people easily.
Twogami on the other hand, is up for debate as to why they’re the ultimate heir ig. I think they would have been secretly adopted into the family without anyone knowing (except their mom who adopted them) when they were young.
Byakuya in this au looks like Twogami unmasked, btw. He uses his ability to impersonate others to damage their reputation most of the time, and he’s petty about losing the inheritance to Twogami lol

Some of my own Danganronpa non-despair AU headcanons/imagines this time! (THH edition)
I was inspired, so I decided why not write down some headcanons/imagines/character adjustments for my Danganronpa non-despair AU! I’m gonna be doing this as a series, starting with the THH characters, then the SDR2 characters, then the V3 characters (although I will mention characters from other games in my headcanons). Enjoy!
Makoto Naegi | 苗木誠
He’d definitely lend a listening ear to whoever wanted to vent to him.
When he first comes to Hope’s Peak, he’s such a fanboy over everyone
He has an inferiority complex and self worth issues because he’s surrounded by insanely talented students, but Sayaka and Kyoko quickly help him get over that
He’s pretty good at keyboard, and plays alongside Sayaka a lot
He actually got noticed by Kaede, who offered to teach him, which obviously he was ecstatic about
He’s the only one in Class 78th, and possibly all of Hope’s Peak, who is neurotypical
Sayaka Maizono | 舞園さやか
Her and Makoto are basically best friends
She’s still a total cinnamon roll, but she loves to play little pranks on the rest of Class 78th and have a good laugh over it
She, Ibuki, Leon and Kaede tried to form a music group together but they fell apart really quickly due to their different styles
She has a huge crush on Makoto, but she’s afraid to admit it
Leon Kuwata | 桑田怜恩
He’s almost always the only one in class, just so he can avoid playing baseball
Ibuki taught him guitar and he’s been playing nonstop ever since
He *tries* to get along with Sayaka, but prefers hanging out with Ibuki since they almost always end up playing together
Everyone in Class 78 calls him the Ultimate Guitarist because... reasons
Toko Fukawa | 腐川冬子
She doesn’t have the weird thing for Byakuya in this au
She doesn’t slut shame the girls either
She’s still really shy tho
She initially dislikes Hifumi for writing fanfic, but they eventually bond over their mutual love for writing
She’s also close with Tsumugi, and the two of them collaborated to write a book that was loosely based on Tsumugi’s favorite anime
Genocider Syo is friends with Sonia, but she’s a bit put off by Sonia’s obsession with her and other serial killers
Kiyotaka Ishimaru | 石丸清多夏
Initially, the rest of the class shys away from him because he has a stick up his ass about the rules, but Mondo and Chihiro quickly befriend him
After a while, he loosens up a bit, but he never stops being the Ultimate Moral Compass
He tries to bond with the class by telling jokes, but he’s always super awkward with it and is usually unsuccessful
He’s SUPER gullible — he’ll believe anything anyone tells him, and you better believe Class 78 uses that to their advantage
Once, he dyed his hair white on a dare, and ended up liking it and kept it that way
He also tries to do impressions of his classmates (mostly Mondo) but, again, is painfully bad at it
Everyone actually finds these funny tho
Mondo Oowada | 大和田紋土
He, surprisingly, likes to play card games, which everyone was shocked to find out
Except Celeste, who is fascinated by his interest
He’s very protective of his friends, and will do anything for them
Especially Taka and Chihiro, his two best friends
He’s an amazing hairstylist, and secretly loves to play with and style people’s hair
Everyone in all of Hope’s peak knows to go to him for hair care tips and tricks
He also taught Chihiro how to ride a motorcycle the two of them rode around together a lot, until Taka ratted them out
He still hasn’t forgiven Taka for that
Chihiro Fujisaki | 不二咲千尋
In this au, he’s a bit more open about his gender, but still has loads of insecurities
At first, he’s completely in the closet, but after rumors spread online about him being a boy, he decides to live as himself and goes to Mondo for help
Mondo became his first real friend to him because of this, and him (and eventually Sakura too) helped him become strong
Eventually, he became an honorary member of Mondo’s gang and would often hang out with them in his free time
His hidden talent is being a voice actor, but he’s super embarrassed to talk about it since he’s the Ultimate Programmer
His first voice role was in a video game he developed himself, which led some talent scouts to notice him
He eventually voiced in several anime and video games, some of which he also helped develop
He’s almost as passionate about acting as he is about programming, but the only people he feels comfortable talking about it to are Hifumi and Tsumugi, who both become huge fans of his, and Mondo and Taka
When he found out Junko had created Monokuma, he was fascinated and offered to help her with ironing out all his kinks
He, Chiaki, Mukuro and Miu also created the Exisals in this au, for the sole reason of fooling around
Although, Chihiro himself was a bit intimidated by his creation at first, but after Tsumugi and Junko pressured him to try one out for himself, he fell in love
Yasuhiro Hagakure | 葉隠康比呂
He’s less of a dumbass in this AU, although he still has a tendency to get himself in sticky situations
Celeste and Hifumi played a prank on him by getting him to dress up in the Robo Justice suit and go around scaring people, but it backfired after Hiro fell down the stairs and broke his leg
Being the only one in the class who can, he often buys wine for Celeste and Mondo (and whoever asks, but only those two ever do)
He and Mondo use the same hair gel, so sometimes he’d take Mondo’s without knowing, which would lead to some awkward misunderstandings
Interestingly, he once predicted the world would end and they’d all end up dead, but that never ended up happening
That’s where the “30% accurate” thing came from— before that he was almost always right
He constantly makes jokes about being an old man (even though he’s only in his early twenties)
Hifumi Yamada | 山田一二三
He’s no longer solely attracted to anime characters, but he still loves them very much
He’s also nicer in this au
He’s besties with Tsumugi, and they bond over their love of anime and fiction
He’s also a huge fan of Chihiro’s, after he found out Chihiro was on the development team for his favorite game AND voiced two of his favorite anime characters
Low key has a crush on Celeste
Angie constantly makes jokes about how his first name is just “one two three” in Japanese
Whenever he’s watching an anime Chihiro was in, he’ll hound him with questions about what it was like recording, which Chihiro doesn’t mind because he doesn’t get to talk about his voice work a lot
Someday he wants to write and direct his own anime, and Tsumugi and Toko give him a lot of writing tips
He formed a LARP group with Gundham, Tsumugi, Chihiro, Junko, and Kaito
Celestia Ludenberg
She doesn’t treat Hifumi like a servant in this AU, but she’s still mean af and has a superiority complex
She eventually revealed her true identity to the class after she got inspired by Chihiro, but it didn’t change anything with her classmates
Except Hiro, who constantly made jokes about them having the same name, much to Celeste’s annoyance
She occasionally brings Grand Bois Chéri Ludenberg to school with her, but she doesn’t let anyone except Hifumi, Sonia and Gundham pet him
She high-key has a crush on Sonia
She doesn’t actually know how to do her own hair, so she has to get Mondo to do it for her
Sakura Oogami | 大神さくら
She and Tenko become friends SO QUICKLY because of their shared passion for martial arts
She’s still friends with Aoi tho
The three of them hang out together a lot
She and Tenko developed a new form of martial arts combining Neo-Aikido and Sakura’s own style, which they named the Oogami Method
Junko bullied her because of her ripped uniform, but after she explained that nothing would fit her, Junko offered to have one made for her
Kyoko Kirigiri | 霧切響子
She and Shuichi are very close, obviously
She gives Shuichi a lot of pointers on improving his investigative skills, and they work together often to solve cases
She and Makoto still become close, but their friendship is overshadowed by her and Shuichi’s
She notices this after a while, and makes a concerted effort to spend more time with Makoto
She’s less distant in this AU, but she still tries not to show her emotions
Her hair is naturally black in this AU, she dyed it purple after she lost a bet (with Celeste)
Aoi Asahina | 朝日奈葵
In this AU, she doesn’t just love donuts, but she loves all sweets
She was a fan of Junko’s before coming to Hope’s Peak, and the two of them became friends quickly
She and Akane are also close, and everyone jokes that they’re sisters, though in reality they aren’t
She once got recruited by Kaito to be in a play his class was putting on, but she’s such a terrible actor that they gave her part to Junko
She once walked in on Junko and Mukuro testing out Monokuma for the first time, and they were super freaked out, but Aoi was fascinated and wanted to try controlling him
Mukuro was against it, but Junko was cool with it, so she got to in the end
Byakuya Togami | 十神白夜
He and Makoto are both obsessed with true crime, and the two of them actually become friends because of that
They both love digging into Hope’s Peak’s files and his family’s files to find mysteries they could try and solve
Sonia joins them a lot too
He unofficially became the class’s French teacher after they found out he was fluent
He’s nicer in this au, and he’s kind of the dad of the class
When the Imposter was impersonating him, the two of them got into a little mini-war over who was the superior Togami (Twogami surprisingly won that war, albeit barely)
Mukuro Ikusaba | 戦刃むくろ
She’s away from Hope’s Peak A LOT, usually doing soldier things
When she is at Hope’s Peak, she spends most of her time either developing new weapons or looking after Junko
She’s usually the one who has to clean up after Junko’s shenanigans, even though she partakes in them herself
She helps Junko with a lot of her projects, but usually she ends up working on her own things while Junko does her thing
Despite this, she loves working with her sister when she gets the chance
Her proudest achievement is the Exisals, even though she collaborated with Chihiro, Chiaki and Miu to create them
Junko Enoshima | 江ノ島盾子
While she’s obviously not Ultimate Despair in this au, she’s still very chaotic and loves causing shenanigans and playing (mostly) harmless pranks
She’s friends with Sayaka and Kokichi because of this (both she and Sayaka are members of D.I.C.E. too)
She still puts on different personas, but she does it as a joke
She’s actually a very good actress, and she loves to act, but just like Chihiro, that gets overshadowed by her Ultimate talent
She loves to build and create things, just like her sister, which is why she created Monokuma
She uses Monokuma for her pranks a lot
Sometimes she goes through severe depressive episodes where she doesn’t have the energy to leave her home, but she usually uses Monokuma as a sort of telepresence unit so she can still talk to her friends
At first, no one knew that Monokuma was her, but Aoi ended up spilling the beans
She also learned animation from Ryota, and wants to make an anime starring her, Kaito, Tsumugi, Chihiro, Mukuro and Hajime
She loves to share her projects with her friends, and often lets other people control Monokuma or model for her
She gets hurt a LOT, and usually Mikan has to care for her
Her proudest achievement is replacing the Exisals’ weapons with water guns (even though Mukuro did most of the work)
They actually decided to leave them like that afterwards, since the Exisals were only ever used by her friends to mess around in
She suffers from PTSD, and part of that is recurring nightmares that the world ended and all her friends were forced to kill each other

horror/thriller movie recommendations based on your fave Danganronpa 1/2 character
the series in general: Saw (2004, dir. James Wan) - i can’t give much of a reasoning for this as i haven’t seen it but the “punishment fits the victim” trope appears to be a thing in Saw?
Makoto Naegi: It (2017, dir. Andres Muschietti) - as much about the power of friendship as it is about a fear beyond all others. the premise is probably relatively well known by now for the fact that there’s a big clown in it. content warnings: clowns, unsanitary, implied incest and csa.
Sayaka Maizono: Psycho (1960, dir. Alfred Hitchcock) - this suggestion is an incredibly cheap shot, please forgive me. famous film, not sure if i can talk too much about the plotline without giving away the most important part.
Mukuro Ikusaba: Us (2019, dir. Jordan Peele) - doppelgangers show up to wreak havoc on an american family. themes of identity theft. much bloodier than Get Out.
Leon Kuwata: Scream (1996, dir. Wes Craven) - admittedly haven’t seen this either yet. i know, i know, i’m a fake horror fan. but i know that it was made as a sort of tongue-in-cheek homage to the tropeyness of horror films, and i didn’t want to put any movie too blatantly humorous here. i thought this would fit Leon.
Chihiro Fujisaki: A Quiet Place (2018, dir. John Krasinski) - monsters that attack based on noise terrorize a family. most dialogue is delivered through sign language. also has a really touching family dynamic, especially between the father and his children.
Mondo Oowada: Pet Sematary (1989, dir. Mary Lambert) - haven’t seen this one either, whoops. all i know is it’s about, like, bringing people back from the dead or something, and that it’s based on a Stephen King book.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru: The Stand (1994, dir. Mick Garris) - technically a miniseries, but i wasn’t really sure what other horror story fit him. it’s the world at the end in a final battle between good and evil, and nothing says Ultimate Moral Compass more than that to me.
Hifumi Yamada: Strangers on a Train (1951, dir. Alfred Hitchcock) - the whole “i’ll do your murder if you do mine” kinda hits for chapter 3 i think. i also remember his hostage being his sister, so he’d probably like the relationship between Anne and Barbara.
Celes Ludenberg: Crimson Peak (2015, dir. Guillermo del Toro) - there’s a line the main character says that’s something to the effect of how she’d rather be like Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley because she died a widow? that’s Celescore. content warning: incest.
Sakura Oogami: Hereditary (2018, dir. Ari Aster) - both in the way that her dojo is a family business and in the themes of being afraid of hurting your loved ones. content warnings: child death, car accident, decapitation, possession, drug usage.
Toko Fukawa: Rebecca (1940, dir. Alfred Hitchcock) - again haven’t watched or read the book on which it is based but the fact alone that it is based on a book? and it’s not directed by stanley kubrick’s book-ruining ass?
Byakuya Togami: Rope (1948, dir. Alfred Hitchcock) - based on a play which itself was probably based loosely on the Leopold & Loeb case, it’s famous in part for its protagonists being gay. also they have superiority complexes and think that the privileged few should be allowed to murder inferior people because they’re above morality.
Yasuhiro Hagakure: A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984, dir. Wes Craven) - i feel like this is closer to what his brand of horror would be, but also people not really believing that what’s happening is actually happening is kind of his m.o. too. content warning: i don’t remember if this is explicit in the original or not, but Freddy Krueger was a pedophile.
Aoi Asahina: Friday the 13th (1980, dir. Sean S. Cunningham) - again i just think this is closer to what Hina’s brand of horror would be, but also i feel like the summer camp aesthetic would be for her.
Kyouko Kirigiri: The Secret in Their Eyes (2009, dir. Juan Jose Campanella) - i don’t totally remember it but detective going off the rails trying to solve a rape & murder case. Very intense, but very good.
Junko Enoshima: Midsommar (2019, dir. Ari Aster) - gaslighting people into joining a death cult? yeah, that screams junko. content warnings: graphic suicide, drug usage, gaslighting, people on fire, nudity, sex.
Monokuma: Child’s Play (1988, dir. Tom Holland) - creepy toy carrying the soul of a murderer. still need to finish watching this one, other than “creepy doll” i don’t have anything to offer in the way of content warnings.
Hajime Hinata: Get Out (2017, dir. Jordan Peele) - reluctant to go too much into details because i wouldn’t want to spoil the film for those who haven’t seen it, but the experiment done on Hajime vibes w this movie. content warning in that this film is about racism.
Twogami: Vertigo (1958, dir. Alfred Hitchcock) - too many details would give away spoilers but the identity theft theme of the film fits for a guy whose talent is in identity theft.
Teruteru Hanamura: Halloween (1978, dir. John Carpenter) - had a hard time thinking of a horror movie for Teruteru, but Halloween (and 80′s slashers in general) have a tendency to punish the horny.
Mahiru Koizumi: I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997, dir. Jim Gillespie) - would it be too much of a spoiler to say there’s similarities between this film & what gets Mahiru killed in-game?
Peko Pekoyama: The Purge (2013, dir. James DeMonaco) - people using masks to enact what they feel is justified revenge on the one day of the year when all crime is legal.
Hiyoko Saionji: The VVitch (2015, dir. Robert Eggers) - based on colonial-era folk tales about witches. very atmospheric, features the same kind of abusive slut-shaming verbal assaults Hiyoko hurls at others. content warning for briefly implied incest, some nudity, and parents being shitty.
Ibuki Mioda: Green Room (2015, dir. Jeremy Saulnier) - still need to see this one; punk band tries to survive to the end of the night after witnessing neo-nazis commit a murder.
Mikan Tsumiki: Carrie (1976, dir. Brian De Palma) - another film based on a stephen king novella, and also a pretty famous story. a longtime bullying & abuse victim starts to lose her shit after she begins developing telepathy. content warning for some nudity, fire, and an abusive mother.
Nekomaru Nidai: Les Yeux Sans Visage (1960, dir. Georges Franju) - wasn’t really sure where to go with him either, at first, and settled on body horror considering what happens to him later in-game. a doctor attempts to find a new face for his daughter after she is left disfigured from an accident.
Gundham Tanaka: The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1921, dir. Robert Wiene) - a mad scientist claims his hypnotized ‘somnambulist’ can see into the future, including the deaths of carnival-goers. highly influential silent film, german expressionist so peak aesthetic.
Nagito Komaeda: The Silence of the Lambs (1991, dir. Jonathan Demme) - it’s probably well enough known for Hannibal the Cannibal being in it, but it’s worth noting he’s not the primary antagonist of the film. he is the most memorable part of it, and his psychoanalysis is what made me think of Komaeda. content warnings for gore, sexual harassment, referenced cannibalism, period-typical transphobia (period is the late 80s/early 90s).
Chiaki Nanami: V/H/S (2012, various directors) - a horror anthology film of found-footage type shorts, not shown in chronological order of events. i don’t really remember the contents enough for warnings, check at your own risk.
Akane Owari: The Blair Witch Project (1999, dirs. Eduardo Sanchez & Daniel Myrick) - don’t really have a good reason for this one other than “they all go feral, which Akane is seconds from doing at any given moment.” i think she’d dig it. no real content warnings to be had, the original found footage film.
Kazuichi Souda: Jaws (1975, dir. Stephen Spielberg) - i’m not even entirely sure i know what would make him like it, maybe just the mechanical shark? i think we all know this as the movie that made people double down on their hatred of sharks. i don’t particularly care for it, but it’s popular.
Sonia Nevermind: Perfume: Story of a Murderer (2006, dir. Tom Tykwer) - follows a would-be perfumer as he murders women in an attempt to create the perfect scent. in retrospect i probably should have picked something based on a real crime, but i still think she’d like this one.
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu: M (1931, dir. Fritz Lang) - when the police fail to catch a serial child murderer, the criminal underworld steps up to take action into their own hands. fitting, no?
Usami: Trick ‘r Treat (2007, dir. Michael Doughtery) - another sort of anthology film that follows what happens to townsfolk when they don’t abide by Halloween traditions. i put it for Usami because i thought it was actually kind of cute, as far as horror films go.

The Ultimate Hostess.
Alright everyone! Let’s get everything packed up! We’ll be moving locations starting this morning!
*Inside the bus, everyone is slightly more cramped, with the addition of Yoruko.
You know, I COULD have just called a taxi?
No, don’t worry. It’s a little stuffed, but we’ll be fine.
Just drive carefully Twogami!
Twogami: Don’t worry. I know what I’m doing.
So...where are we going next?
Not sure. Wherever the road takes us I guess...
...
Is everything alright Chiaki?
I’ve just been wondering something...
I think out of everyone who went into the Neo World, you definitely looked the most different...I mean you Yoruko.
Did you used to have pink hair, and it desaturated? Or was your hair desaturated to begin with?
Well, she was the Ultimate Hostess. She probably changed her appearance to better suit her job, right?
Yeah, that’s right...You’re curious about me?
You’re the only person here I know nothing about...Aside from Ryota that is...
Well, I guess I don’t mind telling you...but I’ll give you the short version...The ShortER version...
I didn’t have many friends when I first started out middle school...I had some kind of social phobia. I used to get bullied for it a lot...
Wow...Not even two seconds into the explanation and I already sound like I’m trying to get you to pity me...Sorry...
Hey, if it’s the truth, there’s nothing you can do about that.
We’ve all been there...bullies suck...
I know right?
Anyway, one day seemed like every other, and then I was dragged to the back of the school, where I was beat up and robbed and I really thought I was going to die...
But then this girl named Amane Caria, who was my upperclassman, came around the area, and scared off all the people who were attacking me...
Later I found out that she’d been through a similar experience as me and wanted to help me...
After school we talked a lot, and I eventually found out that there were rumors around her saying that she worked nightly at some really shady place.
I figured I would return the favor by chasing those rumors and denying them...but when I did...
They turned out to be true?
They did. She was working as a hostess at some local pub really late at night. Apparently she was doing so because she wanted to support her family, who were in a bit of a rough spot...
And well...to give you the short version, one thing led to another, and...I became a hostess myself.
Of course, I was too young to actually be employed as a hostess, but Amane helped me forge some stuff. I faked my identity to gain employment. And for years, I was even able to escape the radar of the police...
But SOMEHOW, even though the national authorities never found out about me...Hope’s Peak Academy saw right through me...
Hope’s Peak Academy is crafty...terrifyingly so...
My status as a high school girl was only revealed, ironically, when my acceptance letter from Hope's Peak arrived at the bar. When my true identity was discovered, I couldn’t keep working at the bar. So in the end, I was given two options...
Attend Hope’s Peak...
Or attend a Juvenile Detention Center...
Exactly...I know what became of Hope’s Peak and I know how much of a shit-show it was behind the scenes, but despite the nature of my enrollment, I enjoyed my time there...
I thought it was a good opportunity to better my prospects as a hostess.
But to be honest, I had been considering quitting at the time...
Why is that?
Because of Amane...
Against my will, I somehow began to become really popular at the bar, even more popular than she ever was...
She wasn’t jealous of me...in fact she was proud...but in the end, I became so popular that...
She lost her job...
What...!?
She confronted me about it and ended up slapping me...and I never saw her again.
When I attended Hope’s Peak, I spent a lot of time tracking her down, hoping to apologize to her...but in the end I never found her...
and...The Kisaragi Foundation confirmed it when they let me out of the killing game...that she had been killed in riots.
That’s horrible...! That’s so fucked up...!
She was working at that place to support her family, and they let her go just because there’s someone else there that’s better than her!?
Yeah well, the world is a fucked up place. To be honest, the tragedy wasn’t necessary...
Don’t take this the wrong way, but a part of me is happy that Junko Enoshima sent the world to shit...
Sure...it was difficult times, but I thought a lot of people, especially the people at the academy, deserved it...!
...
...
...
Sorry, I shouldn’t have said that...
Junko Enoshima was far more horrible than anyone else combined. You don’t stop an evil with a greater evil...
No, I’m not upset...You’re just speaking your mind...
I’ve always been a bit of a weird human being...Even during the killing game...
Though saying that, I think I was the only sane one during the 4th class trial. By that point in time, I was pretty much the only person who wasn’t a VOID or hadn’t tried to kill someone...
You’ve been through a lot, haven’t you?
Not as much as you guys...
What about Sora then?
Huh? Wh-What about her?
I don’t know much about Sora other than what you’ve told us...You two got along well, right?
Um...w-well about that...uh...
*She leans in.
Can I please ask that when you hear this...don’t laugh...
Huh? What do you mean?
Just...please...
...
Ok, I promise.
Me too...
Sora was...one of my greatest friends and...
Th...The first person I ever loved...
Loved...!?
Did you just laugh!?
No! No, of course I didn’t! There’s nothing to laugh at!
...
Sorry Hajime...I...I underestimated you...
It’s just...I know it’s silly...I fell in love with a computer program...
And feel the same, even after all these years...
Don’t worry...I completely understand.
I mean, look at Chiaki and me...I care a lot about her, after all...
It’s not nice to cheat Hajime...
Shush...you know I didn’t mean it like that...!
You don’t have anything to feel embarrassed about though...
Thanks a lot...
OHMAGOD! Stop the van!
Huh?
Twogami: What!? What is it!?
That bird is so small and cute! I could fit in in the palm of my hand!
Where!?
Ibuki, I swear to god, if you were actually about the stop the caravan for the sake of a fucking bird!
Sorry, sorry, I just got pumped...
OHMAGOD! Stop the car again!
*Twogami stops the car.
What!? If it’s another bird, I’m throwing you out!
No, No! I’m serious! Look, look!
*Ibuki points out the window. Everyone looks to sea a huge, sun lit beach just nearby.
Well, I’ll be...!
Hm...How about we stop here?

Cartoon au (1): Mondo, Daiya & the rest of the CDs attempt to steal a bejeweled gold crown belonging to the Togami family, passed down from heir to heir. They think that Taka & Chihiro are there trying to stop them, but really they're trying to protect the heir to the Togami fortune, Byakua Togami, who's really fat & has received threats. Mondo & Takemichi (who are not wearing their masks) go into the party. Takemichi & Chihiro talk to each other & laugh at Mondo's blushing face when he dances
I hope this turned out alright!
Byakuya had precious little information on who could’ve kidnapped Twogami, but what he did have was enough to tip off the Crazy Diamonds, who of course had heard the names before, running in the crime business.
They reluctantly agree to help Taka and Chihiro out with the information they have, as well as transport (so long as Taka would be riding with Mondo). This, of course, was only so nobody else would be able to steal the crown.
It took them longer than expected, so long that they barely found the right place under the time limit listed on the ransom note. By the time they got in, Chihiro was worried they were already too late.
But Twogami was there, tied to a chair with the kidnapper at his back with a weapon at the ready. It was really thanks to Mondo’s quick thinking that they were able to get the weapon away and reveal the kidnapper’s identity: one of the goons from the Kuzuryu Clan, who did not spill a word about the clan’s operations.
With no leads still to the clan, but Twogami safe and sound, the detectives returned him to Ibuki, who was so grateful she arranged a private concert for them in thanks. And once again, the truce between the Crazy Diamonds and the detectives ended- for how long, they didn’t know.

~ Characters Parallel : Nagito Komaeda & Maki Harakuwa ~
Or : from a simple idea, this post devolved into something so big that I have to put it under cut. Sorry in advance for how indegistible it might seem.
Maki and Nagito are the two characters with the most tragic and traumatic background. I’m not going to play the Olympics of Pain to determine if it’s better to be an orphan or to lose your parents as a child, or anything like. Let’s just agree to say that their backstory is a big part of their character and deeply shape them as they are.
‘As their are’ cover many things, though. They are both defeatist/pessimist at core. Komaeda came up with the ‘luck cycle’ idea, thinking that he is doomed to never escape this until he dies, while Maki knows, at the moment where she is revealed to be an assassin, that things will end badly.
They both lost their family, and it’s something that weight heavily in them. We all know about Komaeda’s parents, of course, but a lot of Maki’s FTE are dedicated to tell the story of her childhood friend who she invented a family with and who eventually died. They both feel powerless to fight their personal tragedy, and probably guilty, too, even though they objectively couldn’t do anything. Their death was an accident.
Their isolation has two factors : first, they chose to stay away from the rest as a precaution. Maki expresses it best during his speech at the beginning of chapter 3, where she claims to just want everyone to ignore her. I would say this might be a little more sub-conscious on Komaeda’s part, but he stays away from any emotional connection on purpose, after the losses he knew as a child.
But beyond that, even if they wanted to fit in, it’s very hard for them, for they have a very different belief systems, when compared to everyone else’s, and that’s what separate them from living a ‘normal’ life. Nagito claims that people stay away from him because he has a ‘righteous’ mindset, but it’s not exactly the truth. The problem is that his mindset isn’t seen as ‘righteous’ by anyone except him. To elaborate on that, I thought it was interesting to have Korekiyo put a spotlight on this problem in ndrv3 : why is murder wrong ? The answer is : because we are socialized to think it’s not. Of course it makes sense. People will have no problem accepting that murder is wrong, even when they do commit murder. Everyone has... a system of values, belief, that dictate what is right and what is wrong, and define their action.
Nagito and Maki don’t think murder is wrong. Nagito thinks that anything can be ‘good’ if it’s to spread hope, Maki, after years of mental training, just lost this capacity to feel that killing is a big deal. It’s not that they don’t have morals, quite the contrary, but the core of their moral beliefs is differents from ours. This is something really unsettling, and that makes impossible to create relationships with others because you can only create bond with others by relating to them in some ways, at least. Not that this is different from an antisocial personality disorder ( sociopathy ). Maki and Nagito aren’t Junko, let’s make it clear.
Because of the way the plot is written in ndrv3, Maki’s character only starts to evolve in chapter 2′s trial, against chapter 1′s trial for Komaeda, but their progression is relatively similar. While Komaeda was a lot more involved in the first murder, they both chose to hide crucial informations, even if not displaying them could lead to the death of everyone. Once everyone knows about Nagito, they all decide to accuse him of being the killer, whereas Kokichi, who is the only one who knows about Maki, does his best to condemn her during a big part of the trial.
Something that is often missed in sdr2 but is much more visible in ndrv3 is the way Maki and Nagito’s beliefs are shaken a little during these trials. Maki, after Kaito’s blind display of faith, admits that he gave her some motivation. Nagito, who was supposed to be the first victim, claims that he now ‘has some motivation’ to live after Twogami’s sacrifice.
Nagito and Maki are both ostracized after the reveal. In a very distateful way for Komaeda, compared to Maki, but there is no saying what would have happened to her without Kaito, when you see the way Kokichi and the Student Council treated her.A great way to say that the big difference in their respective arc is Kaito, of course. There is... really no telling where Komaeda’s arc would have gone with someone half-dedicated as Kaito to help him.
I don’t really see the point in comparing Kaito/Maki to Koma/Hina, because Hinata and Kaito are... basically exact opposite and their dynamic is very, very different ( I’m not going to go in deep in Hinata’s feelings for Komaeda because that would take me ages to do that ). But when it comes to Nagito and Maki’s feelings for them, we can draw some comparisions. They both develop feelings for someone who doesn’t really exist. Nagito develops feelings for Hinata based on the idea that he is a ‘symbol of hope’ and an Ultimate, and Maki slowly falls for the ‘let’s believe that you can be whatever you want’ mindset. Both of them never experimented these kind of feelings before.
Bonus on this subject HERE. ( thanks @novatoast ! )
The illusion is broken in chapter 4, for both of them. Nagito learns about Hinata’s true nature, and chapter 4 in ndrv3 could be re-named ‘Let’s kick Kaito as hard as possible’, putting Nagito and Maki in deep distraught. For both of them, chapter 4 is pretty much the end of the world because their belief system is back in full force and they are panicking, and yes, in a self-destructing spiral, too. That doesn’t mean Nagito and Maki stops having feelings for Hinata and Kaito, that means that these feelings stop to be positive, for them.
Chapter 5 is probably the chapter where the similarities are the biggest ones. Both Nagito and Maki are obsessed with the idea to save Kaito/The FF’s traitor or to destroy the Remnant(s) of Despair ( no matter how misguided this goal might be at the end ), and takes drastic measure for it where they relied heavily on their talent, even if that means sacrificying themselves. Unfortunately, tragedy follows them and they end up causing the death of the exact person they wanted to save. If we dig even deeper, neither of them could be saved : Kaito was terminally ill, anyway, and Nanami didn’t even exist. Thus, what they did do look like a huge waste.
Something that I’m a little sad about and that I can’t add in this analysis, is that we never really see Komaeda’s reaction to waking up and realizing that everything was a life/simulation. Considering how terrible it is for Maki, I’m very curious about him too. Oh well, never cease to disappoint me, dr3 !
A few weeks ago, someone asked me if they thought Komaeda would be as popular as a girl than as a boy. I think as a general rule, the answer is no. This does disappoint me a little, but it doesn’t surprise me either, unfortunately.
Of course, these characters aren’t copy/pasted, they both have their own identity and plenty of reasons to not like them for that, which is great, but a lot of critics about Maki or Nagito are from people who will enjoy the same traits on the other ( trying to kill everyone in a fit of despair, developping feelings very quickly for someone who they look up to, general ‘coldness’ - which is often a way to refer to her different belief system... ) and I think it’s interesting to think about that sometimes.

Danganronpa Murder Pattern [Pt. 1]
[IM ONLY ON CHAPTER TWO OF NDRV3 SO I MAY BE WRONG. SPOILERS FOR THE FIRST TRIAL, DRTHH, AND SDR2. I KNOW THE ACTUAL STORY OF THE FIRST TRIAL IN V3 BUT IM GOING TO AVOID SAYING THOSE SPOILERS IN CASE PEOPLE ARE IN A RANDOM CHAPTER LIKE ME]
———————–
Murder One
-It was planned ahead of time -Wrong Victim in the end -Accidentally killed the wrong victim -Character Development For Victim or Culprit
[DRTHH]-Maizono wanted to kill Kuwata and frame Naegi for it, and arranged everything beforehand. Swapping rooms, getting the knife, and inviting Kuwata over. Development for Maizono: having intense athagoraphobia, the fear of abandonment.
[SDR2]-Hanamura wanted to kill Komeada, so that he he wouldn’t kill anyone else. But he accidentally killed Twogami instead. Komeada setting up his plan, the hidden skewer, the burner flame, and finding a hidden pathway. Development: was actually a poor suburban schoolboy who had the best intentions when it came to his family.
[NDRV3]-Akamastu wanted to kill the mastermind, but instead killed Amami. She set everything up, arranging the books, the vent, taking the shot put, the camera flash, taking advantage when exiting the room, and the first classroom vent. Development: Akamastu had strong faith in others, and truly had that faith until the very end, she also proved to have strong yet insecure leadership qualities.
———————–
Murder Two
-Major Character Development for the Culprit and a Close One -Killed Due to Emotional Motives -Not Pre-Planned
[DRTHH]-Oowada was revealed to have a deceased brother at his fault, and revealed to be a better person than expected: Wanting to spare Ishimaru, sparing Ishimaru’s feelings, protecting Fujisaki’s wishes, and having wanted to help Fujisaki accept himself. The emotional motive being that he couldn’t get over the guilt of his brother and dealing with the anxiety of the others finding out, after he saw someone as weak as Fujisaki act so emotionally strong in front of someone as physically strong as himself, he mentally snapped and killed him. It was shown in the the trial that Ishimaru and Oowada had truly formed a tight brother-like bond, leaving Ishimaru emotionally after witnessing the execution.
[SDR2]-Pekoyama was exposed for being a hitman to the ultimate gangster since birth, and a serial killer against criminals or criminal-like people. She turned out to be interesting because she: constantly saw herself as a tool, sought out to be useful Kuzuryuu despite not being contracted to him in school environments, saw herself as someone who was just ridding the world of injustice by killing those who committed against it, and was extremely attached to Kuzuryuu’s feelings before considering her own. Emotional motive: wanted to justify Kuzryuu’s sister, and increase his chance of survival by murdering Koizumi, someone who had close contact to the culprit of Nastumi Kuzuryuu’s death. Pekoyama wanted to useful to the very end, so she sacrificed herself. It was revealed that Kuzuryuu and Pekoyama had strong feelings of affection and want to protect the other in the trial. This case was somewhat pre-planned, but not enough to count as it.
———————–
Murder Three
-Two victims: one being manipulated -True character of culprit is revealed -Manipulative Plan
[DRTHH]- Celestia LudenBurg was exposed of her fake identity, actually being Tenko Yasuhiro: a manipulative Japanese girl, no European accent, who had a narcissistic dream. The victims were Hifumi Yamada and Kyotaka Ishimaru. She lied to Yamada by saying: Ishimaru wanted access to Alter Ego so badly, that he violated her and took pictures, threatening to show them to their peers if she didn’t bring him the AI. Yamada ended up believing her, probably because he had possible romantic feelings toward her. He killed Ishimaru for her, faked his death, then was murdered for real by Tenko. They had taken pictures of a giant robot suit “killing” Yamada, then put Yasuhiro Hagakure in the suit when he was unconscious: trying to frame him. The plan failed and she was executed for the murder, after being exposed to the class.
[SDR2]- Milan Tsumiki was shy due to a tremendous amount of abuse, and had communication difficulties. She had caught the despair disease while treating the three student who had it: Nagito Komeada, Ibuki Mioda, and Akane Owari, after catching the disease it caused her to remember her “Ultimate Despair” ways. Tsumiki remembered Junko Enoshima, and how destruction to others would satisfy the other. Ibuki Mioda was very vulnerable in her condition, so Tsumiki decided to kill her. She took the tablets that were set up for communication and used them to deceive the others view. Making it look like Mioda committed suicide, Hiyoko Saionji witnessed it, and then became the second victim. After investigation, the trial began. Tsumiki behaves very exotically during it, saying that no one believes her, giving evidence that suggests someone else did the crime in a flat tone, ripping out her hair and screaming, and crying while drooling when talking about her beloved (Enoshima). Before her execution, when she talks about her beloved, it is heavily implied that she has sexual feelings towards Junko Enoshima and despair.
