Yeah, I mean looking back; she always seem to act pretty cunning and intelligent. In fact, she tends to get more attention and has it way too easy that it piss me off; I had a feeling she was faking it.

Well duh, what do you expect? Lots of kids talk about Hope's Peak Academy, it's the one school that promises success for life so lots of kids aim for it. Which then I got my acceptance letter; you see on that day, my dad had sometime off work he promise to celebrate my birthday and even have March off so we can spend time together, so they visited then one of the hand maidens came over with a letter directed to me.

Yes I am, given that school has cause nothing but trouble; I don't think sending you there would be a good idea and I know how your going to get. I know how that school is and trust me, it's not the type of environment that would help you grow or change like you think; it's quite competitive and even then. I don't think any of the teachers would be able to help you grow as a person so I'm not allow it.

OHHH OH SHIT WAIT CLAIRVOYANT HIYOKO I REMEMBER SEEING THAT OH MY GOD ENORMOUS GALAXY BRAIN I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE CHARACTERIZATION

YEAH Hiyoko is amazing. One of my favorite DR characters!! And her being a clairvoyant is so interesting. Because it starts out with her dad and her, and she’s super young, and her powers become a viral phenomenon because she just *knows* something super important, but with that fame, Grandmother Saionji steps in and demands custody, and since her dad married into the family and has less power, Hiyoko ends up with her grandma.

Read more so people dont have to see so much DR on main, I’ll make a DR blog SOON I swear I gotta pick a URL.

She’s still a bully! A brat! she grows up with money and power of being the heir to the Saionji clan, but also that’s such a double edged sword because. her grandmother is unforgiving. Being a child is irrelevant. All that matters is developing her ultimate and obeying her grandmother.

So in school she’s a bully. it’s her only way she knows to control a situation, and she takes advantage of her skills, faking predictions of nasty things, maybe even causing those fake predictions to happen. getting real predictions and warning no one. conning kids by telling their fortunes. conning everyone.

‘I don’t know’ is never an acceptable answer for a Saionji to give. Especially one with clairvoyancy. So she learns, she reads ahead and skips grades, and is getting ready to attend highschool. When Hope’s Peak scouts her. and she’s TERRIFIED. because how do you deal with being a 12 year old surrounded by ultimates?? At this point she fully believes she is just a con artist with no mystical powers, and so she just leans into this by saying she’s 16 like the rest of them, a late bloomer. She takes advantage and bullies some of the gullible ones, but when Mahiru the moral compass ALWAYS falls for Hiyoko’s tricks, she starts to feel bad. and she gets friends.

She feels safe and happy, just like she did as a small child with her father. so she gets visions more frequently, easier to decipher.

It’s just a shame they were so clear when she sees what becomes of class 77b.

Alright, so...I just wanna say something first, for the record.

See, my clan is the head of the school of traditional Japanese dance. It’s been a role passed down through our bloodline for generations, so naturally, people get really anal about it, especially my grandma.

Yeah! And being part of the Saionji Clan, it’s important, but it also means...I don’t get to see my parents.

I mean, my mom is all pride and no talent. She’s a waste of oxygen.

But my dad...he was the only one on my side for the longest time. He married into the family, so he doesn’t have influence, but he always came to watch my dances. I always felt calm when he was around.

I haven’t seen him in almost three years...

And you know what growing up with that old hag is like? All the time, every single day, I have to hear about it again and again: tradition is important and it’s my duty to carry on the family legacy. God, can you talk about something else?!

And, yeah...she told me homosexuality is wrong and it’s my duty to find a husband by the time I turn 20. Then again, she also rants about Dutch, Chinese, and Jewish people, and thinks the British Royal Family wants to control the world, so I don’t buy half the stuff she says.

But, still...there’s no way she’d be okay with our relationship.

To Nagi: Maybe it was just Hiyoko didn't like having to eat the same stuff every single day. Could also just be bleed over from being upset at just being dropped at her grandma's abruptly, and wanting to stay with her parents instead, and rejecting most of her grandma's treatment of her without a logical reason

Actually, I'm thinking that might be it; especially as it seems her parents didn't inform her about staying with her grandma...

So Hiyoko, given we are talking about your grandmother, can you explain what other things that do annoy you about her aside from the diet? Did she do anything else...?

Okay, well aside from my diet; my grandma usually leaves me alone, let's me play video games and even let's me have candy but there are some other annoyances.

I think one example is that she gets really weird about cell phones and wasn't even allow one for some reason despite other kids around my age already having one.

If I want to make a call or something, I have to use the home phone...

Hey dear, welcome back; how was school?

Fine I guess, no one is really bothering me today anyway grandma, I was wondering if I can get a cell phone yet? I already did all my homework, studies and everything so can I get one plus it is my birthday, so can I?

And I already told you, I'm not going to as I don't trust those damn things as they could be those ore ore phone scams and even then your parents are coming over late, if you want to call someone; just use the home phone and call there.

Of course, grandma... (damn that old hag, what's her deal with cell phones - it's not like I'm gonna be brainwash...)
