Screening: Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978).
Pairing: Yandere!Carlisle Cullen x Reader (Twilight).
Word Count: 2.1k.
TW: Wildly Unbalanced Power Dynamics, Medical Malpractice, Blood, Controlling Behavior, Deliberate Social Isolation, Misuse of Prescription Drugs, and Generalized Twilight. Dead Dove: Do Not Eat.
It might’ve just been the isolation getting to you, but you were starting to think that your doctor wasn’t completely human.
Not that you’d ever say so out loud. At best, it was awful thing to think about a man who’d only ever been kind to you and, at worst, it proved yet another symptom to your ever-developing, ever-worsening illness had cropped up and would need further treatment to correct. You knew better than to say things that would make you seem more sick than you already were, but it was hard to stop yourself from lingering on the idea – especially considering you only had books, sleep, and his company to pass the endless time. Admittedly, it’d been a while since you’d seen another person, but you could’ve sworn he was paler than he should’ve been, to the point of bloodlessness. He never ate or drank around you, but sometimes when he spoke, the light would catch on his teeth in a way that made them look too sharp, too prominent. You might’ve been dreaming, but once, after you took your medicine but just before you fell asleep, you swore you saw him taking the cap off of the blood sample he’d taken a few minutes prior, like he planned to do something aside from—
You heard a door open and instantly, your paranoia was dismissed in favor of more interesting stimuli. In this case, that came in the form of your doctor, Carlisle Cullen, stepping into your bedroom, an inhumanly perfect smile already painted across his inhumanly perfect lips.
…maybe you should tell somebody about your little conspiracy. If only to be absolutely sure that you were really losing your mind.
“Good morning,” he said, and it occurred to you that you hadn’t thought to check the time, yet. Your life existed in three states: alone, asleep, and with Carlisle. Only that last one really mattered – the other two could easily be lumped into the same category helpfully labeled ‘waiting for Carlisle’s next visit’. “Have you been keeping yourself busy?”
“I’ve only been awake for a couple hours,” you explained, shrugging as he took his usual seat in the chair left next to your bed. He was always polite enough to ask about the boring details of your day, and you were always embarrassed enough to skirt around just how little you had the energy for. Most of the time, it was all you could do to pull yourself out of bed and yourself to eat before retreating back into your little safe haven. On a good day, you’d be able to go for a walk, maybe respond to a few of the calls you were constantly missing, but most days weren’t very good. “Reading, mostly. Thanks again for the recommendation.”
The book he’d lent you – a dry historical drama with characters as bland as water and a plot as boring as sin – sat open on your lap, but you’d only gotten through half a chapter before giving up. It was hard to believe Carlisle was only a few years older than you, sometimes. You couldn’t imagine how someone who seemed so young could have such awful taste.
Still, he looked pleased, his pleasantly aloof expression taking on a defined note of satisfaction. “It’s important to keep your mind occupied while your body’s recovering. You wouldn’t want to waste all of my hard work by letting yourself die of boredom, now, would you?”
“No, doctor.” It was stupid to try, but he’d set himself up for it. You couldn’t seem to stop yourself, your heart beating just a little faster as you grasped blindly for the impossible. “You know, there’s this friend of mine who keeps asking when she’ll be able to visit, and I thought it might help pass the time if—”
“You’ll have to find a way to let her down.” Carlisle’s voice was smooth, calm. You did your best not to sulk, but still, he let out a labored sigh, only a touch too professional to roll his eyes. “It’s for the best. It’s good that you stay active, but you know what’ll happen if you overexert yourself, don’t you?”
Vaguely. It was hard to remember the details of your condition, and you weren’t in the mood for another lecture. “I do, doctor.”
“And you’re going to behave your check-up, aren’t you?”
“I am, doctor.”
“And that’s why you’re my favorite patient.” Your compliance was rewarded with a beaming smile, an appeased nod as he pulled his old-fashioned leather doctor’s bag into his lap. “We better make good on that promise before you change your mind, then.”
You didn’t protest. Honestly, you didn’t say much of anything. You never talked during your exam, preferring to let Carlisle go through the necessary motions with as little interference as possible. Instead, he filled the silence with mindless chatter about his children and how they were doing at the local public school, the hospital’s ongoings since you were unofficially discharged, and your favorite – Forks’ particularly colorful smalltown gossip, from the sheriff’s wayward daughter moving back into town to the spike in bear sightings on the local hiking paths. “It’ll be a busy week,” he mentioned, as he finished taking your blood pressure. “You might have some unexpected company, after all.”
At that, you perked up. You met nearly all of Carlisle’s assistants (medical students, you guessed, judging by their ages) by now, and even if you didn’t care for all of them, it was still nice to see someone other than him. Your least favorites were the dark haired twins – the wiry boy who always seemed to be biting back a smirk and the pixie-like girl who always acted like she knew something you didn’t – and you were particularly fond of the blonde girl… Rosemary, or maybe Rosaline. She was nice, compassionate, kind enough to keep you company even when Carlisle wasn’t in the room. More importantly, she brought interesting books – romance and horror, novels like Dracula and Carmilla and Interview with a Vampire, always handing over with a sweet smile and a hushed reminder not to let Carlisle know she was breaking his rules. Looking back on it, you probably shouldn’t have accepted anything she tried to give you. You would’ve hated for her to get in trouble just because she was trying to be nice.
Rather than voicing your overwhelming bias, you watched intently as he slipped the loose cuff off of your arm, tucking it back into his bag and removing something else, something long and silver and sharp. Immediately, your gaze shot back to your lap, your throat going dry in an instant. The next time you managed to spit something out, it was nearly too quiet to be audible. “…is there any chance we could, uh, I don’t know,” You paused, shrunk into yourself. “…skip the phlebotomy, this time?”
Carlisle’s answer was as swift as it was ruthless. An airy laugh, a jagged twist to this smile as he took up the needle properly and turned it over in his hand, looking for defects. It was already attached the glass syringe and, even worse, an empty vial; just a touch bigger than you remembered it being, the day before. “And take that kind of risk? How little do you think of me, (Y/n)?”
“It’s not you, it’s just—I already feel a little faint, and you take one every day, and—” You cut yourself off, inhaling sharply. “I just don’t know if it’s really necessary. Considering how careful you are and everything.”
“You’re right, I am careful. Which is exactly why I have to do this each and every time I come to see you.” He sighed, shook his head – suddenly more of a patronizing, paternal figure than any kind of medical professional, let alone peer. “You understand, don’t you? Without regular testing, your condition may worsen, and if you get any sicker than you are now…” You stiffened as he trailed off, bracing yourself. You knew what came next, what always came next.
“You’ll have to go back to the hospital, angel.”
It was strange, how a voice as smooth and as beautiful as his could be so difficult to listen to.
You didn’t like Carlisle. You hated his condescending smile, his repetitive rambling, his terrible taste in books and his creepy little students. You hated how little he let you do, how he talked about your illness – always skirting around the details, never giving you enough information to know whether you were on the verge of dying or a few days away from making a full recovery. No, when you were honest with yourself, you didn’t like him. Hated him, even.
But you couldn’t go back to the hospital, with its blank white walls and sobbing patients and strange, mind-altering drugs that put your sleep and made you feel like someone was biting into your throat. It’d been a miracle when Carlisle first told you about his domestic services, when he offered to have you discharged in exchange for only the promise that you wouldn’t seek care that didn’t come from him. Arrangements were made, your rent and bills taken over by some nameless, faceless local charity, and for the first time in months, you got to go home. You could live with Carlisle and his once weekly, now daily check-ups. You could live with the fact that you didn’t remember the last time you’d gotten to make a decision for yourself.
And, if you had to, you could live with paying for your freedom in blood, too. As long as it meant you didn’t have to go back to that terrible place.
Once again, you didn’t say anything, but you didn’t resist as he sighed and ran a sterilizing pad over your forearm, the antibiotic strong enough to burn. You clenched your eyes shut, but that did nothing to block out the feeling of a thin elastic band being wrapped around the crook of your elbow, of his needle pushing through your skin and burrowing into the vein underneath it. There was a second of pressure, of knotted soreness, and then, the syringe was gone and you were left feeling just a little colder, just a little more empty than you had before.
Even after opening your eyes, you kept them trained on your lap. You easily could’ve spent the rest of his visit in silence, but metal clinked against glass as he rushed to cap his vial and suddenly, you needed to hear the sound of your own voice. “I think I might be getting paranoid,” you managed, with a breath of a laugh. “For a few minutes this morning, I was able to convince myself that you were… I don’t know, an alien studying humanity, or something.”
“If I was, I’m sure that I would still pick you as the best possible specimen for my examination.” It was hollow comfort, but you smiled anyway, nodding along. Your medication came next, in the form of a small, chalky white pill that you still struggled to swallow under Carlisle’s vigilant gaze. You managed to choke it down, though, and as always, the effects were instant; a sudden clearness, blankness, followed shortly by an exhaustion so thick and so heavy, you couldn’t remember what it’d ever felt like not to be tired. You tried to hold yourself up, but faltered – buckling under your own weight. Carlisle chuckled as he caught you, helping you lay down with a soft squeeze to your shoulder, a feather-light kiss to the top of your head. “Sleep, angel. It’s good for you.” And then, his grin still pressing into your scalp. “And try not to dream about vampires, this time.”
So he did know about Rosalie’s books. Pouting, you shrunk into yourself, letting him drag the comforter over your abruptly immobile body as your eyes eased shut, as he pulled away – a vial of your blood still warm in his hand. It would’ve been impossible to stop yourself from falling asleep, but you managed to stave off unconscious long enough to watch him remove the vial’s carefully applied seal, to unscrew the air-tight cap with the kind of tenderness you’d only seen him use while taking your temperature or petting his fingers through your hair after he thought you were already too far gone to remember. He did a lot of things when he thought you weren’t looking, didn’t he? You’d never really noticed that, before.
Through your eyelashes, you watched him bring the vial to his lips before everything went dark.

Ketchup Bottle
Pairing: Charlie Swan x agegap!Reader
Word count: 4.8k
Notes: Bruh where tf did this come from??? Like?? What do EYE mean Charlie Swan x Reader??
P.S this title is so funny
1
Charlie stares at the menu in front of him, his fingers pursing his lips. If he’s gonna be stood up, he might as well treat himself.
Bella had been nagging him to “get back out there” recently.
“Mom is happy… I am… I just want you to be too.
She knew he didn’t really need anything, but she wasn’t stupid, she knew that he was definitely not doing great on his own. So she set him up on a blind date, one of Alice’s friends that Alice promised was exactly what Charlie needed.
He should have known better than to trust her…. Alright, that wasn’t nice, if he was going to trust any Cullen it was her.
And maybe like, Emmett.
He orders himself a nice steak and is just about to hand over the menu when a girl walks in absolutely drenched from head to toe. She looks like she’d fallen into the freaking ocean. He’s about to stand up and figure out what’s going on when the hostess starts walking toward him.
“I can handle it from here” He sighs, getting up now and putting his hands on his hips.
“You wanna talk in back? Maybe get you into something dry?”
“T-that would be nice”
He leads her back to where they busy to find her something warm. A chair is brought over next to the giant ovens and she sits gingerly on it, trying not to lean too close to them, the owner promises to come back with something dry.
“You wanna tell me your name? And maybe about what happened?” He’s in cop mode as he puts his coat around her shoulders and she snuggles down into it. He removes a little leaf from her hair and flicks it away.
She’s pretty, he notices. A young thing compared to him, dressed nicely, must have had a date.
“I’m Y/N” Your teeth chatter with each word and he has you scoot a little closer to the oven while rubbing your arms. He crouches down to get a good look at you, you’re not in too bad of shape… a few bruises here and there, little scrapes but you seem to be intact.
“Alright Y/N, you able to tell me what happened?”
“Nothing that would involve the Sheriff” you sigh “It was just an accident”
“That would be something to involve a Sheriff with” He raises an eyebrow and you shift uneasily. He reaches out, taking your hand a bit awkwardly, and rubs the back of it, trying to warm you up, and hopefully soften you a bit in the process.
“My phone died” You mumble and he nods understandingly.
“Alright, I got a phone you can borrow… and?”
“I got rear-ended-“ you tug at the roots of your hair nervously and he holds your hand tighter, trying to calm you down “And- and they literally sped off?? It wouldn’t start after that and I had to leave my car on the side of the road and start walking and then it freakin’ started raining-“
“Were you able to get a plate number?” He asks it calmly, hoping to soothe you a bit and it seems to work as you sigh and let your head fall back
“Man you bet I did… and I had a date tonight!! He probably thinks I stood him up!!!”
He reaches into his pocket for his phone and unlocks it before handing it over. “How late are you? Maybe I can get you a police escort”
You giggle a little at his joke and start dialing the number you’d learned by heart from the little piece of paper your friend had given you.
“We were supposed to meet here at around 7? And it’s literally 8:30 now… I’m sure he’s gone.” The number goes straight to busy and you pout.
“Do you know what he looks like?”
“No…blind date. I’m not from around here” You try dialing again, but it goes right to busy. “But I know his name!”
“What is it? Maybe I can help ya find him.”
“Charlie Swan?”
Charlie stares at the floor as you change into some clean pajama pants and pull a shirt over your head. He didn’t say anything about the fact that you were his date apparently… he just took you home with him because honestly he didn’t really know where else to take you. He bought you dinner there, had it boxed up so you could leave together-
Seriously? You?
He couldn’t deny you were pretty, your hair was so soft and bouncy now that it was somewhat dry, and you so weren’t lying when you said you weren’t from around here, your skin was too sun-kissed to have been from around here.
Still…
What the hell were those two thinking? And okay a better question, one he wasn’t even sure he wanted the answer to.
You were friends with Alice?
Did that mean…?
“Thanks again” You sigh as you come out of the bedroom, Bella’s old room, while using a towel to scrunch your hair. He’d all but shoved you into the bathroom for a hot shower while he picked out a few things of Bella’s for you to wear. He called her to make sure it was cool and he heard Emmett screaming some less than great ideas for clothing.
“Yeah it’s no problem…kinda my job” He watches you plop down at the kitchen table and rub your hands together while laughing evilly before opening the takeout container in front of you. He smirks a little at that while grabbing a couple beers from the fridge.
“Figure maybe we can get your car tomorrow? Tow it in… I know a guy who can fix it for ya”
He sits next to you, watching you eat. You’re eating human food, but didn’t he hear that they did that anyway? To fit in?
“Penny for your thoughts?” You pop a fry in your mouth and he shrugs, slouching in his chair a little and tilting his head back.
“It’s nothin'” He shrugs and sits up again, grabbing the mail from the table and perusing distractedly. “What about you huh? You doin any better?”
“Yeah” You shrug back “I guess”
“You guess?” He sets the paper down and waits for you to chew your burger before grabbing your beer
“It’s stupid”
“Oh, I doubt that” he crosses his arms over his chest, giving you his full attention and you look down at your box for a second.
“He didn’t call… to see if I was okay” you smile a little sadly “I know I accidentally stood him up… but he never asked if everything was okay”
Charlie is… definitely starting to grow a bit of a soft spot for you. He sighs and melts into his chair miserably before slapping his hands over his face.
“He knows you’re fine”
“And just how does he know? The jerk never checked in. Can you believe that?? He never even asked where I was! What if I was in a ditch!!”
“Were you?” He interrupts and you huff
“Luckily no…”
He snorts and you roll your eyes “He could have called”
“He knows you’re fine” he repeats himself and now you cross your arms over your chest.
“That’s not helpful”
“Have you tried calling him again?”
“Why? It all goes straight to busy… I think- I think he blocked my number.”
He can hear the sadness in your voice and it just about breaks his heart. He reaches over and gently moves a curl from your face.
“I didn’t-“ he has to take a breath before he continues “I didn’t block your number, Y/N. We’ve been so go-go-go I didn’t really get the chance to introduce myself, you just sort of fell in my lap”
You narrow your eyes and purse your lips “Hmmmm yeah you know I’m startin’ to realize “Mr. Sheriff guy” isn’t exactly a name…”
“You literally went home with me” He runs his hands through his hair
“You’re a sheriff-“
“Chief”
“Now you wanna correct me? And anyway, everyone you know… seemed to let it happen!! so!!”
“Is- is this really how you live??”
“Says the guy who never told me his name.” You scoff and cross your arms and it’s his time to narrow his eyes at you.
Maybe you were friends with Emmett.
“Okay. First, you never asked. Second, again you know it’s been kind of a busy night and-“
“Shouldn’t the first thing you do be to introduce yourself?”
“Okay we- we are not turning this around on me-“
“You brought a stranger home!!!”
“Did you want to stay in the jail??”
“I’m a stranger! What if I murder you!!”
“How did we get here?” Charlie looks at his hands as his phone starts ringing, he pinches the bridge of his nose and gives you a sassy look before answering it.
“Hey… yeah she’s here, I’ve got her”
“Oh, so you are gonna murder me!” You point accusatorially and his mouth drops.
“I’m not gonna murder you!! Jesus- here just, just take the damn thing.” He hands over the phone and gets up to give you some privacy.
How in the hell Bella ever thought this was a good idea is completely lost on him.
You creep into the living room, your head down as you shyly pass him his phone back.
“Some first date huh?”
Alice had… a good laugh at your expense when she realized you didn’t know who Charlie was or where you were. You wanted to slam your head into the table over and over when she slowly walked you through the entire thing.
You’d been hanging out with Emmett entirely too much.
“I’ll say” He pats the couch and you sit next to him, leaning back into the cushions.
“I didn’t stand you up” You mumble and he grins, putting his arm over the back of the seat.
“Yeah, I know”
“I wanted to be on time, I- I took so long to get ready” You sigh, letting your head fall against his arm and he looks at you.
“For a drowned rat, I think you looked pretty nice for what it’s worth.”
You swat his chest and roll your eyes playfully as he chuckles. He runs his hand over your hair, before pulling you a little closer to him.
Is he… really putting the moves on you? And why does it feel natural? You lean into him easily, coming closer to him. He can’t tell if it’s because you want to be next to him, or because you’re cold. He grabs the throw blanket from the back of the couch and tosses it over you. He lets out a surprised grunt when you pull your legs up on the couch and snuggle into his side, putting some of the blanket over him too.
“So what are we watching?”
He hands you the remote and you put on some reruns of Murder She Wrote.
“Gonna have it all figured out before she does? Chief Swan”
He knows you’re messing around and he thinks it’s funny, but it’s the way you said his name like that, the title that literally everyone calls him that just feels… different coming from you. He shifts a little but flicks your arm as a distraction.
“Shut up”
You both start to nod off after a while, his head falls on yours and he swears his dreams get sweeter, his body feels lighter, and the usual anxious ache in his shoulders is gone… it’s kind of odd, but welcoming.
You wake up a bit, and readjust yourself, prodding at him lightly to lay down. He finds himself easily doing whatever you want, as he puts his legs up on the couch and you nuzzle into him, your body slotting in between him and the couch. He’s never been the cuddling type, but when your head lays on his chest he can’t help but wrap his arms around you and softly rub your side, soothing you back to sleep.
The next morning is…Awkward. His eyes flutter open and you’re still there, sleeping soundly on his chest. You’ve got his shirt gripped tightly in your fingers, your thigh over his torso. He’s not sure how he’s going to get out from under you without waking you but he needs to do it, and he needs to do it fast. He knows the second you wake up you’ll feel it… and he’s not sure whether it just happened or if it had something to do with you but god has he never hated being a man more than in this moment.
You shift a little with his movements and he freezes, taking time to make sure you settle back in before moving your arm off him, he sits up a bit and starts to slide out from under you when you startle and push away from him some.
“Charlie?” You mutter and he freezes again
“Uh…yeah?”
“Where are you going?” Your voice is so small and feminine, and there’s that sleepy little rasp and it’s- it’s been too long since he heard that specific sound. He gulps and stays where he is, hovering in a weird position.
“Just… just to the bathroom?”
“Oh… come back fast okay?” You turn away and curl up under the blanket and he sighs in relief before rushing off to the bathroom.
“So I thought after breakfast we could go out to where you left your car… you remember where that is?”
He looks down at the steaming cup of coffee in his hands, you’d insisted on making breakfast as a thank you and after much protest, you shoved him down into a chair and he let you do what you wanted.
He’d nearly choked on said coffee when you came into the kitchen, wearing one of his t-shirts. The band logo stretched across your chest and it hugged your curves better than anything he’d ever seen.
“Sorry I kinda went through your laundry, your daughter’s clothes are nice! Honestly!! They’re just…. A bit small?” You gesture awkwardly to your chest. He hadn’t even noticed that you might be having a problem with the clothes, you were both so tired.
He nodded dumbly as you set the cup down in front of him with a little wink and turned toward the fridge to find the eggs. He kept his cup to his mouth suspiciously long as you bent down to grab a few from the carton on the bottom shelf.
“I think I remember, sure works for me”
“Alright, we just gotta pick up a friend on the way”
Charlie grips the wheel tightly as he drives down the road you’d directed him to. Billy had spent the last 20 minutes cheerfully learning all about you, the second he got in the car, Charlie knew this was the biggest mistake he’d ever made.
“So what happened to your hot date last night” Billy snickers as Charlie helps him into the car.
“Hot date huh?” You pop out from between the seats and Billy smiles, shaking your hand as you introduce yourself.
“Yeah, big man over here finally got himself a date. Between you and me, I’ve been telling him he needed to get la-“
“Okay! Okay, this was fun! But you know Y/N why don’t you just buckle up okay? Thank you.”
“He’s just being shy” Billy completely ignores Charlie trying to signal him to shut the fuck up and continues. “I bet she went home with a smile on her face and a wobble in her step”
You burst out laughing and Charlie steps out of the car, he legitimately pulls over and steps out for a minute. You and Billy cackle at his blush, pointing and laughing when he smacks his head against the cool metal of the hood of the truck.
“I apologize for the… vulgarity” He chuckles, wiping his tears. “Nothin’ gives me more joy than harassing him”
“Oh trust me, this was great”
Charlie gets back into the truck, flexing his fingers on the steering wheel as you and Billy giggle to yourselves. He’s silent as he pulls up alongside your car and you hop out. Billy lets out a low whistle and Charlie sets his forehead on the steering wheel.
“Is that one of your shirts?”
“Yes.”
“Did she find that herself or did you give it to her”
“She found it.” He takes off his seatbelt and reaches for the door handle.
“What did you tell your date? Did she see you with her?”
“She was my date.”
Charlie leaves Billy in the car to stew as he comes over to yours, he opens the passenger side and gets in, watching you rifle through some papers.
“Is he dying inside”
“Oh yeah definitely” He shuts the door and you look at him, grinning.
“Yeah I thought you’d really like your sweet revenge when it came”
“You wanna point at him now and laugh”
“Oh a hundred percent”
He watches you gather up a few things before you sigh, your travel makeup box in your lap.
“What’s wrong?”
“I’m just… disappointed my hard work went to waste” You smile sadly and he reaches over, his hand cupping your face.
“I already told you, you looked pretty.”
“You really think so?” You lean into his hand “I mean Alice told me all about how cool and impressive you were”
He’d have to thank her for that.
“I just… kinda wanted to impress you too you know? I had on my best heels and everything!” You reach in back and pull them upfront.
He shifts a little, his jeans tightening. They are nice shoes, they’re black and shiny, he’s sure he could see his reflection in them.
“I had to change my shoes to start walking” You frown and he takes one from you, looking it over.
“Would you have asked for a second date?”
You look over at him, he’s got a lopsided smile and you can’t help but smile back at him.
“Would you like? A second date… I’ll admit this wasn’t much of a first”
“I dunno” he shrugs “I had a nice time with you, breakfast was good” you giggle and lean your head against the headrest. He likes you, he realizes and that’s kind of weird for him, a grown-ass man having a crush. But here he is, feeling like kicking his feet every time you smile at him like that smile is meant just for him maybe.
“Let me make dinner for you tonight”
He’s inviting you on a second date, ever since Bella had moved away she constantly told him he nodded a hobby, and in an effort to get his nagging loving daughter off his back, he decided to enroll in a cooking class.
“Okay, I’d like that. And Charlie?”
You open the car door and then lean over the center console, kissing him softly. It’s such a surprise it takes him a second before he kisses you back, his finger hooks under your chin and he holds you in place, knowing you want to run away from him.
He’s… well versed you realize, as you melt under his warmth. And truly he doesn’t want to admit.. it’s been a while since he’d done something like this, you make him feel like a teenager again as he cups your cheek, pulling you closer to him. You’re just reaching to put your arms around his neck when suddenly the truck horn blows and you scream. Charlie groans and reaches into his pocket for his phone that’s ringing.
“What. Do you want?!”
“If you guys are gonna have sex can you like… turn me in the opposite direction”
Billy has apparently recovered from making an accidental ass out of himself as you climb into the front seat of the truck while Charlie handles the tow truck and paperwork.
“You like him?” Billy asks as you watch Charlie, his hands on his hips.
“A lot, he’s really nice, kinda sarcastic, kinda funny, and he smells- soooooo good”
“Okay. Didn’t need to know that part”
“Are you gonna tell me I’m wrong??”
“I don’t smell my best friend? Like. Ever?”
“Inhale”
“What no I’m not gon-“
“In. Hale!!!”
Billy is a full-grown man. He’s been through more than anyone ever should in their lifetime.
And he inhales when this little girl tells him to.
He inhales slowly while you’re nodding your head up and down.
“Oh yeahhhh”
“….. Well shit”
Charlie opens the door as you’re shaking Billy by the lapels of his shirt and you’re both screaming about how good he smells.
“Uhhhh do you guys want me to go?” He points backward and you smooth out Billy’s shirt and hop from the truck. Charlie opens the back door for you and you give him a little salute as you climb back in.
“We’re cool… we’re good, we’re cool”
“We’re normal” Billy shrugs.
Once you’re back at his place, you decide to go take a little nap. You leave him and Billy downstairs chattering away like they did in high school and slip into his room. To be honest you’re not all together sure it’s okay that you’re in there… but the large neatly made bed is calling your name.
You remove the ill fitting pants you’d borrowed from Bella and crawl under the covers, curling up into his pillow and inhaling slowly. Yup, still smelled delicious.
“She’s really into you”
Billy stares at the TV while Charlie grabs a couple beers. He rolls his eyes and hands him one before plopping down on the couch. He sighs as he leans back, resting his head along the back.
“Is this what we’ve come to? Gossiping about my love life?”
“Sarah would be eating it up and you know it”
Charlie grins a little at the memory of her and nods.
“S’pose so”
“So… what about you?”
“I barely know the girl… she’s, nice. She’s fun… but I barely know her”
“Are you actually going to take the time to get to know her? Or are you going to let her walk away? She’s a real catch, Charlie”
“You’ve spent an hour with her!”
“And that’s all it took for me to see that… maybe Bella was right, I think she is good for you, I think she’s what you need to brighten this place up. The sun has finally come back to Forks.”
You wander out of the bedroom around 3 and head back downstairs, you rub at your eyes sleepily as you stumble down the stairs.
“Hey sleepy head, how was your-“
You stand in front of him, doing a little stretching. The shirt rides up around your hips and he blinks slowly, taking in the soft buttery skin of your thighs. He can just see a hint of your pink panties before putting your arms back down.
“You okay?” You move to stand between his legs and he looks up at you, slightly in awe
“Yeah”
“You sure?”
He takes a breath before taking your hand and pulling you closer. You straddle his lap and he takes a second to smooth his hands over your thighs, feeling them in his grip. He seemed so into the softness of your body, your plush curves.
“I’m sure”
“What’s this all about huh?” You giggle quietly and wrap your arms around his neck, he leans you closer into him and you feel his hands grip your ass. Your mouth falls open and he smirks.
“I think it’s time I finally start thinkin’ about myself again.”
So maybe he’s going a little overboard with Billy’s advice right now, to just relax and have fun with you. But he can’t find it in him to care when you nuzzle your nose against his. Is he going way too fast with this? Yes. Had he just met you? Also yes.
But he’d be damned if he didn’t get at least a little sun while it was shining.
“Sounds like a plan to me” You smile against his lips and he rubs your sides slowly, feeling you up. You blush and scoot closer, settling down in his lap, and he can’t help but think about how the only thing separating him from feeling you is a pair of jeans and a thin pair of panties.
His hands slide up under your shirt, feeling your bare skin against his fingertips and you tilt your head, deepening the kiss with him at the same time your hips move forward a bit more. His hands freeze in place as you start to roll your hips against his clothed cock, they stutter slightly as you feel just how large he is.
“O-oh my god” You whisper and he pulls away to look at you
“What’s wrong?”
“Y-your really um-“ You pause for a moment, completely flustered when the front door suddenly opens.
“Charlie? dad thinks he left his-“
Charlie practically launches you off his lap as Jacob comes through the front door. You fall to the floor with a squeak and he stands up quickly, throwing the blanket over your bare legs while you’re still floundering to get up.
“He-uh he left his what??” His voice is high-pitched as he tries to step in front of you but it does little to stop Jacob from staring.
“Is she okay?”
“She’s fine”
“I think I broke my spleen”
“So your dad left something??” Charlie clears his throat and Jacob looks up at him
“Uhhh yeah… he thinks he might have left his meds in the couch or maybe the truck or something… do you uh-“ He’s trying not to snicker “You want me to check the truck first?”
Charlie pats his pants pockets and fishes out his keys, tossing them over to him.
“That would be nice, thank you.”
“I’m Jacob by the way” He tells the bundle of blanket on the floor and your little hand sticks out, waving in the wrong direction
“Y/N”
“She’s cute” Jacob mouths with a double thumbs up and Charlie has to refrain from going to grab his shotgun.
As soon as the front door closes again he turns to you, pushing the blanket back. You’re glaring up at him, your arms crossed.
“Are you ashamed of me?”
“Of course I’m not” He pulls you up from the floor and you flop down on the couch, sniffling a little.
“You shoved me off of you”
“You’re barely wearing any clothes”
“And?!” You huff and he rolls his eyes
“And… that’s Billy’s son”
You think about it for a moment, still pouting and looking away from him and he sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose before looking at you again
“Will a kiss make you feel better?”
Your head turns so fast he thinks you’ve got whiplash from it, he himself can’t even believe he said it.
“Maybe…”
He holds your chin in his fingers before kissing you again, it sends a jolt of electricity down your spine when you feel his other hand on your torso, pushing you down onto the couch again.
“I’m so sorry honeybee’” He whispers, his hand sliding between your thighs, your heart flutters as he rubs higher and higher, you can feel his hand brush against the front of your panties when there’s a loud knock at the front door again.
“Is it safe??” Jacob cracks the door and Charlie closes his eyes, letting out a long sigh before getting up and tossing the blanket back over you.
“Yeah, it’s safe”
You snicker as he comes in, shaking the bottle of meds and tossing Charlie back his key.
“Got em, thanks”
You sit up, swinging your legs off the couch and getting up, the blanket falls from your form and Jacob’s eyes widen.
“I’m feeling kind of cold… I’m gonna go take a shower okay?” You lay your hand on his chest, purposely putting your body against his and his cheeks redden.
“Uh…okay sure. Yeah”
Your hand slides down his torso and you let it settle on his hip.
“Come up soon?” You whisper, but there’s no point, because Jacob can hear it anyway
“Okay” He kisses your forehead before you finally pull away, holding his hand until you can’t anymore
“It was nice meeting you Jacob” You give him a little wave and he smiles, tipping his head as you walk up the stairs.
“It was nice to meet you too. Maybe we can have you two over for dinner soon.”
As soon as he’s sure you’re out of earshot he comes over to Charlie, holding his hand up for a high five
“My man” He laughs and Charlie slaps his hands over his face and falls onto the couch.
What was he going to do with you?

“And I promise that starting today, I will never leave you.” Carlisle whispered, pulling away from the hug and softly kissing her on the lips
With the kiss serving as a quiet declaration of his unwavering devotion and love, he hadn't expected Celine's reaction. A mixture of need, hope, and nostalgia rushed through him as their lips connected. He gave the gentle embrace his whole being in that brief instant, hoping she would know how deeply devoted he was.
Their hearts beat in unison, creating a tapestry of unfulfilled promises and shared memories with every beat. He lingered in the last of their connection's warmth as they parted, silently hoping that she had sensed his love's resonance resonating deep within her.
Pulling away from the kiss, Carlisle gently wiped away the tears that stained Celine’s cheeks, ensuring to leave tender pecks after each tear was wiped away, a silent reassurance of his presence and affection.
“I want to properly court you.” Carlisle whispered, their face only mere centimeters away from touching again
“I didn’t do it properly the first time. But I want to show efforts in pursuing you, I want to show you that I’m actually into you instead of just being with you because of this vampire mate thing. I want to show you just how much I am yours.” He continued, leaving small kisses around Celine’s face
Celine felt like laughing at Carlisle right now. She found it ironic that he hadn't considered the possibility that she was simply prioritizing her own well-being. She considered herself to be a rational woman, and she knew that her best course of action for the time being was to remain with the Cullens until the Volturi fiasco was resolved, at which point she planned to leave them.
Because why would she stay with beings that showed her how easy it was for them to leave her?
Everyone knew and agreed that the best decision now was to get Celine to live with them, prioritizing both her safety and her gradual adjustment to their way of life prior to her transformation. Carlisle graciously offered his room to her, allowing her to design it however she likes so that she’ll have a piece of her humanity in their home.
The people at the hospital slowly figured out that Doctor Cullen and Nurse Celine have gone back to their old ways, with Carlisle even going back and using his side of the office. No one knew what was going on between the two of them, all they knew was that Nurse Celine appeared slightly friendlier toward everyone compared to her demeanor before Carlisle's return.
Celine’s nonchalance to Carlisle was something that he couldn’t ignore though. She was kind to everyone at home, but when it comes to him, there’s this subtle coldness that Carlisle could feel. She was quick to engage herself in a conversation with any of them when they get home, and when he’s about to initiate any conversations with her, she was quick to call it a night.
Celine rarely reached out to him in regard of being a vampire as well, always choosing to ask Edward or Rosalie about the diet and all that she would need to know once she becomes one of them. It lightly stung his feelings that Celine wasn’t asking him questions instead but he didn’t worry much, thinking that Edward and Rosalie are just better at giving objective answers to her questions than he would probably be.
Because why would he be concerned when he has all of eternity to win her heart again?
~~
After a successful surgery resulting in the patient's discharge with just a scar, Doctor Cullen extended an invitation to everyone involved in the operation for a night out. Something that even Celine couldn’t get a grasp of why he was doing it.
“You all deserve it.” Carlisle only replied with a shrug when Celine asked, sending her a smile before reading the report about the surgery.
“You don’t even drink? Or eat for that matter.” Celine asked, sitting on the chair opposite of his
“When has that been an issue for us?” He asked back, averting his gaze away from his laptop and to her, his eyebrow raised
“I mean, what if they notice?” Celine asked
“Then I’ll just say that I’m your designated driver for the night.” Carlisle answered like he’s already thought of that specific alibi “Maybe I’ll even drive them home if they’re beyond definition of drunk.”
“I’m sure Nurse Grace would love that.” Celine said, pulling the laptop so she could have a read of the report
Celine pretends to not notice the nurses' evident enthusiasm whenever Carlisle is present. She remains seemingly indifferent to the way Carlisle's angelic smiles brighten their days, purposely ignoring the fact that his smile is wider when directed to her. She always just ignores the bubble of jealousy forming in her whenever he does that, deciding to just focus on her job.
‘Because why would it matter if he flirted back to them or not? It’s not like I cared.’ Her mind would always remind her
“Jealous?” Carlisle asked playfully, teasing in his tone
“Just telling you, don’t assume too much.” Celine replied cooly, ignoring Carlisle
‘You have a plan, stick to it.’ Her mind hissed to her. Though the blush forming on her cheeks says otherwise
“You have nothing to worry for, my love.” Carlisle comforted, standing up and going in front of her, towering over Celine as she was seated on the chair “I am all yours.”
“I know.” Celine replied quietly, still focused on the report and purposely ignoring how her heart is beating faster at his declaration
“I love saying that I’m all yours.” He replied with a grin on his face, kneeling to be on the same height as she was “Makes me feel complete.”
“Don’t be too dependent on me.” Celine warned him. She wanted to hurt him, but not to the extent of him reaching Edward status when Bella was still human and was presumed dead.
“You make it hard to not be.”
The day of the celebration has come, with everyone in the operation talking about it in the group chat. Celine opted to ride with Carlisle, eliciting a smile from him as they made their way to the agreed-upon bar for the gathering
The same bar that held Celine and Carlisle’s first date.
The rest of the family all watched as Carlisle’s car grew smaller in the distance, a smile on their face as they could see Celine slowly warm up to Carlisle again. They only had 6 months until her 30th birthday, and it seemed like Celine hasn’t really warmed up to the idea of being a vampire, only seeing it as a responsibility that she had to take for everyone’s safety.
“Do you think that 6 months will be enough?” Bella asked quietly, looking at Edward
“If Alice’s vision doesn’t change, then 6 months will be more than enough for Celine to welcome Carlisle back into her heart. Which would make the transformation less of a responsibility for her but more of a desire to spend eternity with him.” Edward answered his wife earnestly
Edward hid Celine’s plan from everyone, confident in Carlisle's ability to regain her trust and affection. However, observing the slow progress between them and Celine's persistent intention to leave Carlisle and their family once the Volturi threat diminished, Edward recognized the need for action.
“Family meeting.” Edward called loudly, getting everyone that was about to do their own thing to immediately go to the living room
The four of them were enjoying the night out and Carlisle felt happy that his initiation was the cause of it. Celine, Sean, Eunice, and Grace were sharing a bottle of vodka, but he couldn't overlook the fact that Celine seemed to be consuming more shots of vodka than the others, despite their shared bottle.
“No drinkin’ tonight, Doc?” Grace asked him, passing a glass for him to drink “One shot wouldn’t hurt.”
“Not a drinker.” Celine answered in a matter-of-fact tone for him, grabbing the glass that she was offering to Carlisle and drinking it “Learned that when we went out on a date.”
Sean, Eunice, and Grace all exchanged surprised glances, causing Celine to furrow her eyebrows in confusion at them as to why they looked at her like that, before realizing what she accidentally just said
“Whoops?” Celine asked, a sheepish grin on her face as she looked at Carlisle
“I did ask her out on a date.” Carlisle continued for her, knowing that her drunken state would not be able to find a proper alibi on what she said “Just one, then I backed away. I realized that I wasn’t ready for the love that she deserves.”
“Is that why you left?” Sean asked curiously
“No, that’s a different discussion. A very private one.” Carlisle answered, his eyes following Celine as she goes past the line of tipsy
“I wish you didn’t leave.” Celine muttered so quietly that Sean, who was next to her, didn’t hear her
“You are so drunk.” Eunice laughed at her, giggling as Celine grabs the whole bottle and chugged a lot of it before putting it down on the table
“Maybe if I was drunk, I’ll forget things.” Celine joked with a drunken smile on her face. But Carlisle can see behind her drunken smile that her eyes held so much pent-up emotions
"I remember how fuckin’ cold you got when Doc Carlisle bounced those first couple weeks." Grace started, getting Celine to sit up and look at her with don’t-you-dare eyes
“Tell me, I’m curious.” Carlisle said, flashing a smile to Grace that was sure to get her to tell the story that she started to tell, to Celine’s dismay
“She was so cold and strict.” She started before taking another shot of the drink
“You know, she's gotten all...like, real calculating since you split. Too smart, too tough to handle, Doc. And, like, even though we all can't stand Doc Daniel, he's the only one who can really get under her skin, you know? Like, brings out some different vibe from her, not just all authority and stuff. She was pretty rational before, but now? It felt like you took her heart with you when you left.”
“Grace, that’s enough.” Sean warned her. Carlisle was so engrossed with what Grace what saying that he didn’t notice Celine finish the remaining content of the bottle of vodka that they had and had ordered a second one already
Carlisle stood up immediately and carried his chair to sit next to Celine, her blood still being intoxicating but also had a hint of something else in it because of the alcohol. She was quiet, and her face was redder than usual. She glanced at Carlisle, managing a loopy grin before resting her head on Sean's shoulder.
“Tired?” Carlisle asked Celine softly, fixing the strand of her hair that fell in front of her face
“Drunk.” Sean answered for her playfully “I think you should take her home.”
Carlisle scooped Celine up with his arms, letting her rest on his chest.
“Keep the tab open for the night, all your drinks tonight are on me.” He told the three, earning cheers from them “I’ll take her home and call it a night for myself, I think.”
“All goods boss.” Eunice teased, mock saluting to him “Thank you for making sure that we’re all off tomorrow too.”
“Anything for my team.” Carlisle said to them with a smile, before standing up and smiling goodbye to them.
Carlisle quickly walked to his car, making sure that he gets Celine in the car all buckled up before he even gets in to drive home.
“Have I told you that you’re a really shit person right now, Grace?” Celine mumbled as Carlisle started the car to drive them home “He didn't need to hear that. Honestly, I doubt he'd give a damn about it anyway.”
“Why do you think that?” Carlisle asked her
“Because I just know.” Celine answered, crossing her arms and letting out a huff of anger “He walked away from me so easily, why would he give a damn about what I've become since he left?”
“Did you ever know why he left?” He asked her again.
Despite feeling conflicted, Carlisle knew he needed to seize this opportunity to understand Celine's true feelings. He felt compelled to understand her true emotions, even if it meant facing the painful reality of that he was losing her.
Hell, he’ll even fight the Volturi if it offered even a glimmer of hope for Celine to be able to retain her humanity.
“He said something about needing to protect me or whatever.” She answered
“You know what was messed up? I needed him more than he needed me! I needed him every time I wanted coffee because he’s the only one that knows the specific measurements for my taste. I needed him every time I would get any sort of sprain on my body, because he always knew what to do to ease me, and because I knew that if I ever fell, he’d be there to catch me, always. I needed him when I felt insecure, because— damn it, he never gave me a reason to doubt or question myself.”
“I needed him, in so many ways that I wish I knew how to express.” She cried in her seat, covering her face “I didn’t need protecting, I just needed him.”
“Did you love him?” Carlisle asked again
“God— I wish there was a deeper word than love that I can use to tell him what my heart screams.” She sobbed, taking deep breaths in attempt to stop her tears from flowing
“He was so gentle, so kind, so patient. He lifted me up so high, I felt like I was flying from all the love that he showered me with.” She continued, her words digging deeper into Carlisle, making him realize just how much he actually fucked up
“He came back though, didn’t he?” Carlisle asked, wondering what she thought of that
“For an obligation to me.” Celine drunkenly laughed “He wouldn’t have come back anymore if he didn’t need to.”
Carlisle wanted to argue, tell her that she was wrong, tell her that she was never an obligation to him. But he understood that this was coming from a place of pent-up anger, and the fact that he did leave her.
“What do you plan now?” Carlisle asked quietly, slowing down to hear what she has to say before they get home
“I wanted to hurt him.” Celine answered, wiping the tear streams that were on her cheeks “But whenever I see him, whenever I feel his tenderness, whenever I feel his love for me, it’s like my mind stops for a second to question if I was doing the right thing. If hurting him the way that he hurt me was the right way to go.”
“Do you still love him?” Carlisle asked, some sort of hopefulness in him
“Not once did I stop.” Celine answered drunkenly, a grin forming on her face “It’ll always be him. No man will be able to love me the way he did.”
“Do you want to hurt him?” He asked as he sees the house in view, realizing that Celine will one way or another figure out that it wasn’t Grace that was talking to her this whole time
“I have to. It's the only way I'll feel better about everything.” Celine answered, a strain in her tone as she says it.
Carlisle couldn't help but hope that the strain in Celine's voice was a sign that she didn't want to hurt him. Perhaps, buried beneath her words, there was a glimmer of reluctance, a flicker of hesitation that hinted at her true feelings.

Wildest Dreams Masterlist
————————————
Tucking her legs under her, Y/N stares out the window. It’s been unusually cold lately, the skies turning darker with each passing day. The clouds are getting lower, spreading among the trees surrounding her home. Whenever autumn comes knocking, Y/N welcomes the rainy days and moody weather with both arms. She didn’t detest the cold as she once did, because Paul would always hold her a little bit closer. He’d often kiss her until they both struggled to keep their hands to each other and she had to beg for mercy before they were both late for work. It’s not like he’d kiss her any less in the summer, it’s just that he’s aware his warmth in already warm days is harder for Y/N’s body to handle. It’s why he’d give her space from time to time. Y/N hated that. That’s why she’d turn down the AC to freezing cold temperatures all the time just so she could enjoy Paul’s cuddles more.
She misses his cuddles now.
It’s been five days since Paul went out of the Cullen’s house and shifted into a wolf. When he’d lose his temper, Paul would be back by nightfall and Y/N never needed to worry. This felt different. Jacob didn’t tell her much at first, trying to sugarcoat what they’d discovered, but she wasn’t letting up. She could never let up when Paul was involved.
“You need to hear it from him, not me,” Jacob sighs.
Pinching the bridge of her nose, Y/N frowns deeply. “I don’t know what’s happening, but I know I feel that his heart is shattered and I -”, she pauses as a sob threatens to escape her. “I never feel his emotions unless they’re at an extreme and his pain is suffocating me right now.”
“It’s a deeply personal thing I can’t imagine Paul would want you to talk to us about.”
Chuckling dryly, she points a finger at Jacob’s chest. “You have no idea what he or I would want. You weren’t here when we were building this relationship from the ground up! You weren’t here as we grew up and you sure as hell weren’t here when we learned each other’s hearts by heart! So don’t tell me what he would or wouldn’t want, because I know what he wants, and that is me! And if he is in this state because he believes he’s done something that will take me away from him, I need to know what the fuck it is so I can convince him it isn’t his fault and that–,“ belting over she lets a shuddered breath pass her lips. Clutching her chest, Y/N’s knees hit the ground with a loud sob echoing throughout the room. Jacob’s quick to wrap his arms around her, looking at Edward in distress.
“She’s overwhelmed”, Edward explains before glancing at Jasper, who seems devastated by the constant waves of pure anguish coming off of Y/N.
In the blink of an eye, Jasper is beside Y/N, his hand running up and down her back as she gasps for breath. All the pain and confusion coursing through her blood is nearly enough to make anyone insane. Even Jasper is barely holding it together as he takes some of her pain, replacing the tsunami of negative emotions with a sense of tranquility.
It doesn’t take long for Y/N’s breathing to return to normal, but her tears don’t dry. Jasper can manipulate her emotions, but he can’t trick her body into forgetting everything.
“Just tell me,” she pleads. “I need to know how to bring him back home.”
“He’s found out you’d possess a rare ability if you were to join our family,” Carlisle answers, and her eyes find him immediately. “One that the Volturi would never allow to exist. That means they’d kill you if you were to change.”
Wiping her tears with the back of her hand, she furrows her eyebrows. “Then I won’t shift and it won’t be a problem.”
“Aro will know,” Alice chimes in. “He can read every thought anyone’s ever had just by touch. He’d find out about you. Even as a human, you’d be a threat. The potential you carry is enough for him to act.”
Letting out a heavy breath, Y/N shakes her head. “How do you even know I might have this power?”
“We asked a member of our extended family to visit,” Alice replies. “We didn’t want to take risks when it came to you. A Quileute imprint.”
“And if you didn’t? If he never told you what potential I carry? If we never even mentioned the possibility of me being part of your family?”
“You’d have never gone through what Paul saw the day he imprinted on you.”
“A self-actualizing prophesy,” Y/N nods. “Is it really as bad as it seems?” Y/N asks Alice. “Paul has always seemed traumatized by it, but he’s my imprint. Is it really a horrid way to die?”
For the first time, Y/N noticed emotions in the Cullens. The Cullens' stony faces are difficult to read by humans, but Y/N can no longer ignore the emotions she notices in them. It’s on all their faces–compassion and pity most of all.
“Okay then”, Y/N forces a small smile as she uses Jacob’s shoulders to help herself stand. Jasper doesn’t hesitate, holding her up as she stumbles during her attempt.
“We need to find my fiancé,” Y/N purses her lips. “Jacob,” she sighs. “Please find him and bring him back to me.”
“I will do my best,” he promises. “But it’s not easy when we get into this headspace. It once took me an entire summer to return to my human form.”
Nodding, she swallows thickly. “Tell him I need him. Tell him I love him and I don’t care about anything other than spending the rest of my life with him. I want to get married and I want us to live every single day to the fullest.”
“I’ll gather the rest of the pack still willing to shift,” Jacob pecks her forehead. “We can cover more ground and drag him back if necessary.”
As Jacob walks toward the door, he’s stopped as her fingers coil around his pinky finger–the only part of him she could reach as he all but ran to fulfill his promise.
“Don’t let him see me breaking down. He can’t ever know.”
Ever since, Y/N waited for her soulmate to return to her. Embry, Quill, and Seth joined Jacob in their search the very first night. Sam and his eldest son waited for Leah and her husband, Owen, to come from Port Angeles before joining the very next day.
Emily would visit with her youngest every morning. Y/N’d have her dad over for lunch, but it didn’t help distract her as much. The greatest thing Sam has ever done for her was give her and Paul his blessing to clue her father in. She didn’t tell him she was marked for certain death. It would kill him to know, but he knows enough to be aware her life is in danger. She told him Paul’s off with the pack trying to hunt down a rogue cold one, protecting the tribe. Kim and Jared would come over every other night for dinner. Y/N imagines it’s because they feel guilty about Jared’s lack of involvement in the search for Paul. He’s not shifted in so long, the human part of him is much stronger than the wolf. Y/N supposes they didn’t want to halt his aging now when they finally seem to look the same age. She can’t take it to heart. Perhaps she’d hate if Paul shifted after a decade too.
Claire and her wife visited on the second day. She’s never been too close to Claire as she and Andrea live far, about a five-hour drive in one direction. They mostly see each other for holidays, but Y/N appreciated her visiting very much. Catching up with them put her mind at ease for a few hours, long enough to maintain some semblance of sanity.
Renesmee showed up with Bella for a few hours on the third day, bringing loads of chocolates Edward knew Y/N liked. Apparently, he’s joined the search earlier that day with Emmett and Rosalie.
The only ones who never left her home were Daisy and Jasper. It would likely drive Embry crazy if he knew his imprint had been sitting beside a vampire this entire time, especially when that vampire was Jasper. He’s apparently less stable with his diet compared to others in his family, but Y/N likes it when he’s close by. If it weren’t for him micromanaging her emotions whenever they threatened to kill her, Y/N would have lost herself. Alice came and went, unable to handle the smell of wolves for too long. The smell of several wolves mixed together is much worse than Jacob's scent, she said.
“He’s going to come back”, Daisy hands her a cup of warm tea. It’s nothing compared to holding Paul’s hand, but if she closes her eyes for a few minutes, she can pretend he’s there, safe with her.
Daisy sits with her, feeling her loss. Embry’s never been away this long before. She can’t imagine how hard it must be for Y/N when she can’t even be sure Paul is alright when she can feel he’s in pain. At least Embry isn’t in danger and he isn’t heartbroken to the point of being stuck in his wolf form. He’ll definitely come back home. Paul might not. She doesn’t say that openly, but she carries that worry. Meeting Y/N was scary as hell, especially with how highly Embry used to talk about her. She knows they had a mutual crush on each other when they were younger, but it never seemed to work for them. Embry told her he didn’t want to mess up his friendship with Jacob, who was evidently in love with Y/N, but he also didn’t want to risk losing Y/N as a friend. It was easier to admire her from a distance.
It’s not like Daisy is insecure about her relationship with Embry now, but before she knew what imprinting was, it did cross her mind that Y/N might be competition. She only found out about imprints when Embry spilled the beans about Paul imprinting on Y/N when she first came back to town. He wasn’t aware she was close enough to hear him and the way he mocked Paul for it, but she heard it. It wasn’t hard making the connection about their own situation. Smiling, she remembers how stupid his face looked when she called him her imprint in bed that night. He nearly choked on his own saliva before she kissed him harder than ever before. She wishes he was with her to kiss him harder than that. Jared didn’t shift and leave Kim, so why did Embry? Shaking her head, she puts those thoughts away. Y/N is a close friend, possibly her closest friend, and she’s definitely Embry’s favorite person aside from herself. This is a small sacrifice for someone they both care about.
Jasper watches the two girls from the couch. He can sense the quickly shifting emotions in Daisy every day, but none of them are malicious. It’s evident she simply misses her husband. Y/N is a hurricane compared to Daisy. She’s impossible to predict and the devastation her emotions can cause is incredibly difficult to contain. He’s never truly delved much into imprint connections, perhaps because Jacob and Renesmee had a simple relationship. Renesmee didn’t pay him much attention until she ended things with her high school boyfriend. After graduation, that’s when she decided she wanted him…selfishly so. She never quite unlatched from him. Renesmee was more or less obsessed with him, jealous of Y/N’s friendship with him, but she was never in any pain regarding Jacob. As for the wolf side of the relationship, Jacob just wanted to protect her and make her happy. He didn’t necessarily love her the way Renesmee loved him, but he wouldn’t ever break her heart, even though his own wasn’t whole. Jasper always knew Jacob loved someone else and despite the imprinting tying him to his niece, Jacob never forgot the one he wanted truly. Seeing Jacob and Y/N in the same room revealed everything to him — he wanted what he could never have. And now he’s off, making sure Y/N can have some form of a happy ending as if she won’t die soon.
Never before did Jasper care much about humans, knowing they’re around only for a brief part of his immortal life. Very few did he care to befriend and, for some reason, Y/N felt like a person he wanted to be around. She didn’t make him thirsty, it’s her heart that speaks to him. So many people walk around hiding their true feelings, but she feels everything so clearly and she refuses to pretend otherwise. It’s rare to find someone like that. He has observed her mainly depressed in the time he's known her, but he wonders about the potential of being around her when she's truly happy.? He could get drunk on candid joyfulness Y/N is capable of feeling. Perhaps he’s going to be invited to the wedding when Paul returns. She’ll certainly be cheerful on that day and he has to know the other side of this despair. He can't believe that he cannot replace this pit of aching with ecstasy and serenity.
Alice finds him unreasonable for staying with Y/N inside the house she shares with Paul, but he can’t bring himself to leave yet. Not before she’s reunited with her fiancé. Leaving now is like playing with destiny. She deserves the relief he’s cautiously giving her, making sure she can feel her emotions without allowing them to cross the borders of what she can safely handle. Y/N needs him, even if others do not agree. Until Paul walks over the threshold of this house, Jasper will not leave. Y/N doesn’t demand it either. He can feel she’s grateful for his presence, for taking the edge off the very sharp knife her emotions tend to become.
So he stays, watching over the girls as the lighting tears apart the sky.
“What would happen if I were to join your family and Aro was,” Y/N pauses as she turns to look at Jasper, who seemed rather surprised she was talking about it. “Well, if he was eliminated, would it really be such a problem for me? For your family?”
Staring at Jasper, Y/N watches as his lips spread in a thin line and then into a genuine smile. She’s definitely gone mad. “You’d want to take on the Volturi?”
“I want to take on Aro,” she corrects. “If he was alone, he’d be easier to eliminate.”
“To kill, you mean,” Jasper states.
Shaking her head, she places the empty teacup down. “I understand the chances of it are minimal, but say I accept to be one of you and I get this magical power of making vampires human… Can’t I make him human?”
“Would he, like, just become a vampire again?” Daisy asks.
Jasper rubs his chin. The more time he spends around her, Y/N swears he does these little gestures for her benefit, something to take away from the ungodly beauty he possesses, to make him seem more human.
It's impossible to turn them into vampires after they have been cured. However, the rest of them would know. The entire army would be ready to dismember us to get to you.”
“Not if he disappears,” Y/N tries. “We could hold him hostage until he dies a human death.”
“That’s dark”, Daisy notes.
“It’s nothing compared to what he’s been doing for much longer than you’ve been alive,” Jasper argues. “He deserves far worse.”
“Could it work?” Y/N asks as Jasper’s phone lights up. “Alice?” The hope in her voice is so easily detectable that it makes Jasper almost frown when he sees it’s a message from Edward.
We found Paul.
“No. Edward says they found Paul.”
“Are they coming home?” Y/N jumps, running toward Jasper. “Call him, call him!”
Smiling as her hope brings alive the butterflies in his stomach, Jasper dials his brother immediately.
“Kind of hard to talk now”, Edward grunts as a loud growl sounds.
“I’m with Y/N. You’re on speaker.”
“Where is he”, Y/N grabs Jasper’s wrist, bringing her lips closer to the phone. “Is he okay?”
“Canada”, Edward sighs as the growling grows louder.
“Is that him?!” she exclaims. “Paul Lahote, you stop that right now!”
On command, the growls turn into whimpers and she can’t help the way her chin trembles with the pained sound leaving her fiancé.
“Come home,” she says softly. “I know you believe you put me in this situation, but that’s not true.” Sniffling, she pauses as if to wonder if saying it in front of everyone is unwise. It doesn’t take long for her to decide, choosing to prioritize Paul over her vulnerability. “If you and I never fell in love, I’d have been dead a long time ago. Paul, I came back home for a few months to tie up loose ends.”
Glancing at Daisy who stood by her, Y/N swallows thickly. “I was struggling with anxiety and depression. And I didn’t feel like I had anyone in this world other than my dad. I just…I was in therapy, but it didn’t really feel like it was working. The meds never really helped either. I was just so…so lonely.”
“Y/N”, Daisy rests a hand on her shoulder as a show of support.
“I was planning on taking my life and then you showed up in that forest with your stupid smile and gorgeous eyes and suddenly I had one more mystery to solve.” Smiling meekly, Y/N sighs. “Before long, I was falling in love with you and my friends returned to me and in that time, I started falling in love with life again. You saved my life, Paul Lahote, and I hate how cheesy that sounds, but you did. And whatever time I got now is still a lot longer than it would have been if we never met.”
Biting her lower lip, she closes her eyes. “You made me happier than I believed was possible. I love you and I want to marry you. I want to marry you and become your wife as we planned. Come back to me so we can enjoy this time we have left.”
“I will.”
She recognizes Paul’s voice immediately.
“I’ll be home soon. We’ll do whatever you want.” His voice is shaky, imbued with heavy emotions he’s attempting to keep under control.
Smiling, she nods. “A beach wedding would have been great, but the weather might not agree.”
“I’ll make sure it agrees,” Paul sniffles.
“Where we had our first date?”
“Sounds perfect!”
Neither spoke for a few moments. Each breath seems to hang in the air, heavy with unspoken thoughts. It’s the kind of silence that carries weight, a palpable tension that both parties are acutely aware of but hesitate to break. Y/N inhales sharply as Paul breaks the silence.
“I love you too.”
“I know”, she replies quietly.
“With all my heart.”
“I believe you.”
“I’ll see you soon,” Paul promises.
Nodding, she holds her breath as tears rush to her eyes. She can’t let Paul hear her crying. He’s carrying far too much guilt already and her tears shouldn’t be part of the load. Swallowing the growing lump at the back of her throat, she replies sweetly, her tone laced with all the love she wants to give him.
“I’ll hold you to that.”

A/N: No clue why Tumblr is being a bitch today, I don't even know if the tags are working because it doesn't let me do my usual thing, so if you're on the tag list, please let me know if you got a notification or not. On a side note, I've had the worst stomach bug since Friday, so forgive me for the grammar, I beg for leniency. As usual, anyone wanting to be tagged can comment on the post, just make sure your blog visibility settings are on and that your blog hasn’t been flagged (blurry pfp is usually your clue that you have been flagged) as those are most common reasons why tumblr won’t let you be tagged. Also keep in mind changing your @ might mean you lose your tag since Tumblr acts like your blog no longer exists due to the change.

I really loved Decision Making! Will there be a part 2?
I wasn't planning on a pt.2 but...
Decision Making P.2
Edward Cullen x reader
Summary: You and Edward reach a middle ground about everything
Warnings: swearing, ANGST but it's resolved
_________________________________
You also never quite fully moved on. How could you? Your heart had been ripped from your chest and trampled over like it never had value.
He can't say that he hasn't felt the same. The feelings that he had that still longed for you were easier to ignore before you returned. But now you're back. Everything that he had buried was now brought back.
When Bella fell into a deep enough sleep that she wouldn't notice his absence, he went out to search for you. Edward had nothing prepared to say. However, he knew that things could only worsen if he left things where they were.
You sent he had pinned to memory. He used that memory to track you down to the river.
"You know... I wanted to jump in," you began. "But I didn't. I couldn't."
"You wanted me to find you?" Edward asked.
"I wanted my old love to come to me. But I understand that he is no longer with us," you responded. You still haven't met his gaze.
"I would like to apologize."
"An apology without the action of change is just words. You'll waste your eternity."
"I'm well aware I am undeserving of your forgiveness. But please, let the guilty have their last words," he pleaded.
You stood up from the river bank. You matched his gaze and explained, "You were my first everything. I gave you everything I could. Even my mortality, Edward." You slowly approached him and continued, "When they sent me your obituary in the mail, you know what I did? I went to your parents' house. They were distraught, and I consoled them in the best way I could. " You stood before him, "I gave you the last rose in your coffin."
"When I heard about a 'Dr. Carlisle Cullen' when I left my last coven, it began my spark of hope. I really didn't mean to impede on your new life. And to think that I could just reappear after all this time -"
"I searched for you too."
"I'm sorry?"
"I would have come to see you had I been stable enough. But you know how newborns are. Carlisle barely let me out of his sight. I had a moment when I left his side and spent a lot of time trying to find you. But all I could recover were old missing posters. It crushed me deeply. I gave up my search for you and began to hunt down your capture. I went through New York, killing those that would hurt someone in any way. I thought I was doing you justice. But then I joined Carlisle's vegetarianism."
"Yeah, to be honest, that was mean," you said, breaking that serious energy surrounding you both.
I moved to stand beside Edward. "I- I think that moving on from you is... okay," you said softly.
"I apologize for how I treated you those years ago. After everything you've done... and I treated you like a stranger."
You both chuckled and continued to stare at the water. You faced him with a smile. "One last hug, before I go." He accepted, and he gave you one last strong squeeze.
"You don't have to go," he clarified.
"I just escaped my coven, I need room to breathe for now."
"Be safe, Y/n"
"You too, Edward." You ran into the river, covering your scent.

The Raven and the vampire
Chapter 1
This is a Twilight and marvel mashup, the daughter of loki finds her soulmate in jasper Cullen and the twists and turns it will take them both
As of 11/21/24 i've redone this story it is no longer a reader insert. I want to thank everyone who liked the original and hope you like the updated version more, this was my first ever fic and i've slowly grown as a writer so everyone enjoy
It begins like every other day on Asgard, sunny and golden, gilded with light, as the sounds of a baby’s wails break the silence of the healing wing. Loki paces back and forth, waiting to be with his wife and newborn. The doors swing open, and an attendant comes forward.
“You may enter your highnes. Your wife and child are all cleaned up and waiting for you.”. Brushing past the attendant, Loki heads straight for the figure sitting against the backboard of the green silk bed.
“My darling, how are you? How do you feel? Do you need anything? Are you hung/…’..
“/Loki, calm down. I'm perfectly fine. A little tired, but it was all worth it to finally meet our daughter.”
“it’s a girl?”
“Yes, my son,” comes the voice of Frigga, queen of Asgard, as she walks over to the bed with a wrapped bundle in her arms. “She is a beautiful baby princess, and here she is, ready to meet her parents.” Walking to the new parents with a bundle of green and gold cloth in her hands, Frigga handed the new princess to her mother.
The baby was a light blue with raised markings prominent on her body, tufts of deep black hair crowning her head, and scarlet eyes opened to take in her parents. Lady Sigyn didn't even pause at the baby’s coloring, long since having broken Loki of thinking himself a monster due to his heritage.
“She is half Jotun as we expected, but her body should adjust to the environment soon just as her father did,” Frigga states, noticing her son had yet to say anything as he simply stared at his daughter's small form resting in his beloved's arms, slowly offering his finger to the baby girl. Skin turning blue as the babe gripped it in her tiny hands.
“She’s beautiful,”
“Yes, she is, oh, Loki look,”
The new parents watched as scarlet eyes gave way to white with beautiful amethyst irises, skin turning a beautiful pale like her father's with a dashing of freckles like her mother's.
“She looks like you, my love, beautiful dark hair.”
“She looks like the both of us, a perfect blend. Elara Frigga Lokidottir, Princess of Asgard.
Our little raven.”
Eight hundred years have passed, and the young princess has blossomed into a woman of grace and beauty. Like her father and grandmother before her, she is a mage, as well as a warrior in her own right. How could she not be, with private training from an actual Valkyrie, not to mention her aunt and uncle— The goddess of war and the god of thunder (who is affectionately referred to as the "god of sparkles")
Through many trials and tribulations, she has grown. Throughout her life, she has been surrounded by love—seeing it in her parents' faces as they look at each other, her baby brother's eyes as he babbles up at her, and the warmth of her grandparents, uncle, and many others. She has also heard countless stories of love that were never discovered and tragic tales of love found only to be lost.
“Mother, father, I've done it.” Elara omimite as she bursts into her parent's sitting room.
Sigyn was sitting on the floor with the twins as they had tummy time, while Loki was next to her, legs crossed at the ankle, reading a book to the two of them. Both looked up as their oldest came into the room.
`What is that, my little raven?”
“ Father, I've completed the spell to find my soulmate.”
“Soulmate? Spell? Darling, what are you talking about? You're still so young. You shouldn’t be worried about that yet.”
“Mother, you and father were only 200 years older than me when you both finally married, and much younger than that the first time you met, you started frolicking with each other. Uncle Thor has told me as such. Besides, I'm ready. I want to have what all of you have, especially before I'm used as a pawn to help diplomatic affairs.”
At this, Loki stands, embarrassing his daughter and ushering her into the lounge between him and her mother. Though Elara had grown 800 years in Asgard, it only made her about 18- 20 in human terms. And yes, she was old enough to start being courted. He selfishly thought that time wouldn't come for much longer. His wife's voice breaks him of his
“My little raven, we would never allow the Allfather or anyone else to use you as a pawn, you know that, right?
“You can try, Mother, but we never know what the future holds, and I don't want to wait anymore. Besides, Father is the one who gave me the idea to begin with.”
“Loki, why am I not surprised you are somehow involved with our daughter trying to leave?”
“Dear, it will all be fine. I would want nothing to harm our little raven, but she is right; now we are at peace, but that can easily change. I want her to be able to choose her path instead of others doing it for her.”
“And it not just to spurn the Allfather.”
“While that is always a bonus, no, Mother even agreed with me. Our little princess is grown, whether we like it or not; now go ahead, love, tell us what you’ve discovered,” Loki states as he kisses his wife, soothing her while gesturing to Elara to carry on.
“ Mother?”
Sigyn pinches her mouth, looking between her mischievous husband and equally energetic eldest.
“Fine, I will go along with you and your father's plans, but I wish to be there when the spell is cast and part of the travel discussions.”
“Absolutely, Mother, I can do the spell now; I just need the maps of the realms.”
Loki summons all the maps he's collected over the years, including a globe of Earth, and sets them up for his daughter when a thought occurs to him.
“Odin forbid this adventure; send you to Midgard.”
“Loki, we will support whoever it is and wherever it takes her. Besides, if you didn’t want her to go away, you shouldn’t have helped her make the spell to begin with.”
“Your words cut deep, my love. I simply hoped for her future match to be here in Asgard.”
“As you’ve said, my dear. Now, sweetie, let's proceed with this event.”
The maps of the realms litter the giant green carpet. In front of Elara, she sets the small golden bowl with the spells and concoctions as she draws the needed ruins.
“So I modified a spell to find a lost item and a spell to show your heart's desire, combining the two with a complicated magic circle. I should be able to find my soulmate”,
“Very impressive, little raven”
“Thank you, Father,” Elara says before beginning.
Purple magic flows from her fingers toward the bowl. The power quickly spreads out, forming a magic circle, and as soon as it is complete, a bright, pulsing light shoots up.
The light dances around Elara and her parents several times before shooting to the maps.
“It's working!” Sigyn happily claps in awe, watching her daughter work.
Pulsing around the realms maps, the light simply hoovers before shooting for the Midgardian globe, encasing it insistently.
“Oh joy, my daughter's soulmate is a Midgardian.”
“Honestly, I think it serves you right, Loki,” Sigyn states, picking at her husband and his distaste for Midgardians, “but you don’t even know who or what this midgarden is. Who knows, they could be gifted like our dear Wanda.”
“Yes, my darling,” Loki says as he collapses on the nearest couch.
“Well, go on, my little raven, let's see where in Midgard you will be visiting.”
Walking over to the globe, Elara peers over to what small words have now been illuminated.
“It’s a place called….. Forks, Washington.”

Speak | Chapter 11
Word Count: 2.6K Warnings: emotional abuse, foul language, bodily harm
Summary: Bella Swan was a disaster when Edward had left. Deciding she needed a little help, Charlie Swan receives with open arms his younger daughter (Y/N) Swan. She helps Bella during her depression and becomes inseparable from her long-lost friend Jacob. What she didn’t expect was falling for a hotheaded short-tempered silver wolf.
A/N: wanted to make this chapter longer, but I'm leaving the comfort/fluff for the next chapter. Now, onto the only story y'all care about 😉😉(jk jk)
<- Previous | Next ->
It had been a whole week of romantic bliss. At least in (Y/N)’s opinion. Something had finally clicked inside Jacob. Somehow, he’d finally understood what it meant to be a boyfriend. A surprising turn of events in his behavior from the past two weeks.
Jake had been the kind and caring boy she had fallen for many years before. He’d taken her out on a couple of spontaneous dates, he’d filled her with loving words, and not once did he make her question if they were meant to be together.
One. Whole. Week.
And she hoped it would last. (Y/N) hoped it would remain that way for as long as it could. Even with all the secrets between them. Sure, she had to wait until the late hours of the day to talk to Paul. Spending hours on the phone as she had done with Jake in the beginning, learning the smallest intricacies of his personality. Everything that made him him.
(Y/N) couldn’t stop the giddiness that filled her veins every time the phone rang. There was a pull to the boy that she did not understand. Something mystical that tugged at her heartstrings and sang the song of Paul Lahote. But she was too scared to answer that call, to listen to the chords that made up his name. How could her heart call to someone she hardly knew? How could she want someone else when she had spent so many years beating for another?
There was a complexity to her feelings that she could not decipher. Her head told her it was delusion. That she had only begun to gravitate toward Paul when Jake and she had hit their first obstacle. And although that obstacle had yet to be removed –Bella was always a lingering presence in everyone’s life—(Y/N) was seeing a way through it. Paul had been kind and comforting in a time when –even if she could not admit it—she was scared of Jake, petrified by his anger. The girl simply couldn’t bring herself to believe it could be anything more than that. She simply wouldn’t.
Jacob Black was it for her, she could almost bet her life on it.
Well, only for the time things were good. ‘
But (Y/N) seemed to forget from her time in Forks that things never remained the same for too long. Laughter died, the sun stopped shining, and Jacob’s painted-on mask could shatter in a split second.
School had started in the rez as well as in Forks. Teenagers spilled into the halls of the high school, mutterings about their winter vacations muddling into each other. It made (Y/N)’s heart beat faster to be around other students once more. Two years had passed since she had been inside a physical school and she had grown accustomed to her mother and a slow computer to be her teachers. She felt odd and out of place and wondered how Bella had felt walking through these very walls only a year prior to her. And she could have asked her. Her older sister was walking right beside her and she could have asked her if the staring ever died down, or if feeling nervous was normal.
Alas, Bella would not have answered, and (Y/N) was resigned to keeping those questions buried deep within her. Her sister was out of her room and in the school, and that was all she could ask for. The zombie-like girl guided her to the office, where she was met with a red-haired woman with a bright smile.
“Well, it seems the Swan duo is finally complete,” she said. Her glasses slid off her nose slightly as she looked at (Y/N) through the top of the spectacles. “I’ve got your schedule right here. And though I’m sure Bella will show you around, I’ve added a map of the school as well with the best routes to get to your classes.”
“Uh, thanks,” (Y/N) forced a smile as she felt her cheeks warm in embarrassment. She expected to be known in the school, but she never thought that it would feel so invasive. “This is very helpful.”
“Of course, (Y/N),” she smiled. “Can’t believe just last year I was giving your sister a similar folder.”
“Yeah, time sure does fly.”
During the whole encounter, Bella remained stoic and quiet. Her ever-present sorrow hung over both of them like the darkest clouds that frequently adorned the Washington sky. The older Swan was there, but it would have been the same as though she was not there. The plant in the corner of the office held more life than her sister currently did.
And that was how the rest of the day went. (Y/N)’s hours passed and it felt like she was the only Swan in that school. Long gone was the novelty of Isabella, instead replaced by the freshness of her little sister. Everywhere she walked, eyes followed her. There was nowhere she could go that others wouldn’t question her regarding her life in Arizona and Florida before transitioning the conversation into Bella’s heartbreak condition. Even during lunchtime, when her older sister was sitting right next to her, her friends asked (Y/N) how she was doing.
(Y/N) wasn’t sure what she should have expected when she had gotten to school. But she definitely did not enjoy having to be her sister’s spokesperson. A small part of her wanted her to be the real center of attention, not just the vessel of information regarding Bella. If someone had asked her she would have said that the only reason she had been accepted at the high school was to make sure her sister didn’t fall apart during one of her classes.
Though she did meet new people as the week went by, it felt just like it had when they had been growing up. (Y/N) was not her separate entity; she was just Bella’s little sister. And she feared that’s all she would ever be. It made her feel shallow and a bit vain to want everyone’s attention, to hope that others gravitated toward her because of who she was rather than who she was related to.
Back home, it was no different. As the Swan sisters walked into the house, Charlie was quick to ask how the day went. But his eyes were trained on his oldest daughter. Especially as the girl disappeared into her room, closing her door behind her.
“Did anything happen at school, (Y/N)?” Charlie worried. “How did she do today?”
“Well, nothing’s really different,” she sighed. “I only saw her during lunch and she was just quiet. She picked around her food, only eating a couple of bites before the bell rang. Other than that, I don’t know much.”
“I shouldn’t be surprised,” her father responded as he slumped on the armchair. “She’s been that way since September. I’m just glad you’re there now to look out for her. I don’t know what we’re gonna do, (Y/N).”
“I don’t know, dad. Whatever Bella is going through is bigger than just heartbreak. And I think only she can dig herself out of this hole. We just gotta be here whenever she decides to,” (Y/N) shrugged before she followed the same path Bella had taken only a minute before. “Oh, and school was great for me. Thanks for asking. Again”
The door slammed lower than she intended behind her, but she didn’t care. Her entire day had already revolved around Bella. Like she was the gravitational pull in Forks. Forget the sun. No, this small town revolved around the one and only Isabella Swan. There was nowhere she could go where the shadow of her sister didn’t tower over her.
She changed clothes before burying herself under her covers, searching her phone for the only person that did not seem to care who her sister was. The only person that had not made her think that they were using her to get to Bella. She knew his voice would be able to calm her anger and assuage her disappointment.
But before her finger could hit the call button a knock resounded through her room, followed by her father’s figure entering her room. “Hey, kiddo,” he said. “I just wanted to apologize for that. I know it may seem like I’m only focused on Bells, but I know I don’t have to worry about you. Your sister on the other hand…”
“I know, dad. She’s been chosen by the gods of sorrows and they don’t want to let her go.”
“Don’t be melodramatic, (Y/N),” he chuckled. “But I wanna make sure you know that I care about you just as much as I care about your sister, and I’m here for whatever you need, whenever you need.”
“I know,” she smiled, swallowing down the tears that were threatening to spill. Her father may not have noticed, but he did not pay them the same attention. Not even their mother had. And it pained (Y/N) to admit that she had grown too used to it. “It’s okay, dad. I know you’re worried about her and so am I.”
“I’m sure, kiddo,” he smiled, sighing in relief. “Well, I wanted to let you know that I’m off tonight on shift.”
“Okay. See you in the morning then.”
“Yeah, and Jake’s downstairs waiting for you.” (Y/N) perked up at his name. It didn’t surprise her anymore when he dropped by unannounced. He had been doing it the remnant of his winter break and he had promised it wouldn’t change after school started. “Now, I trust you guys, but no boys in the room, (Y/N). Keep it to the living room and the kitchen, alright?”
“Of course, dad,” she chuckled, following him out of her room and down the stairs. “Stay safe out there.”
“Yeah, yeah,” he scoffed jokingly. “I take you’ll behave yourself, Jacob. That’s my daughter we’re talking about here.”
“I will, Charlie,” Jake smiled. “I promise there won’t be any funny business going on.”
“You better,” Charlie scowled. “See you in the morning, (Y/N). Bye, Jacob.”
“Bye, Charlie,” he chuckled.
She leaned into the side hug her father gave her, smiling as he kissed the top of her head. “Bye, dad.”
The front door closed behind him and (Y/N) remained by the front window until the cruiser disappeared from the driveway and down the road. Once the car was nowhere in sight, she turned to her boyfriend, a mischievous grin tugging at her lips. She closed the distance between her and Jake, looking to wrap him in a hug.
But Jacob stopped her, pushing her arms back onto her sides, his warm smile replaced with a stoic scowl. “I’m not staying long, (Y/N),” he muttered. “There’s just something we need to talk about.”
“What’s wrong, Jake?” she worried. “Did I do something wrong?”
“I know you haven’t been honest with me, (Y/N).”
“W-what? What are you talking about?”
“I know that you’re still talking to Paul,” he answered. His face was unreadable but his words were seeped in disappointment. “And don’t deny it. Embry let it slip out accidentally. It seems your best friend decided to recruit mine into whatever gang he’s in with Sam Uley.”
“Come on, Jake. How would Jared know any of that?” (Y/N) stammered, an awkward smile playing on her face. “There’s nothing there to let slip.”
“Right, so, Embry just so happened to start avoiding me and Quil in school. He cut his hair, he got that dumb tattoo they all have, and he’s always with them when he’s not in school. And, it’s funny, today when we confronted him about it, he simply said that they were helping him with something he couldn’t talk about,” Jake seethed. “But the cherry on top was when, for some reason, he told me that it would be best if I just let you and Paul be friends. Which came as a surprise to me since there isn’t supposed to be a friendship there. Not for the past two weeks, (Y/N).”
Her heart beat loudly in her chest, her breath hitching in her throat as Jake revealed that he was sure that she had broken her promise to him. She had never planned to keep that promise, but at that moment she was regretting it. “Tell me what to do to fix this, Jake,” she pleaded. “I’ll do anything. I’ll even delete his contact from my phone right now.”
“No,” he stated simply. “If you want to help, tell your buddy Paul to let whatever he and his little group have on Embry go. Maybe then I’ll consider forgiving you for lying to me for two weeks. For now, I think it’d be best if we took a little break.”
He turned her back to her, making his way to the door. He made it to the driver’s side of his car before (Y/N) caught up to him, trying her best to not slip on the ice-covered pavement.
“Jake, please,” she cried, holding onto his forearm, trying her best to turn him to face her. “I promise there is nothing going on between us. All we did was talk. I’ll never call him again, Jake. Just please, don’t leave like this.”
“I don’t care anymore if you talk to him, (Y/N). You can talk with all of Forks for all I care,” he spat. “I just want my best friend back and safe from those assholes. Get Embry back and then we can talk. It’s as simple as that.”
“I have no control over that, Jake. You know that,” she sobbed. Her hands kept tugging at his arm, trying with all of her might to turn him around. To be able to look into the brown of his eyes and show him that she was telling the truth. But he would not budge. His body remained frozen in place. His gaze fixed on the car door. “Please. I’ll do anything else. Anything you want!”
At that last tug, Jacob finally moved, pulling his arm toward his body. The bruteness and the swiftness of his motion made (Y/N) slip and fall back, her hands flying behind her to catch her fall. Her palms burned as they made contact with the rough cement and her backside ached in searing pain.
Tears pooled at the corners of her eyes, falling down her cheeks and making her skin freeze in the weather. She knew it had been an accident –it had to be. But instead of running to her aid, Jake got into his car with a scoff. “Ask Paul to let Embry go,” he said as he backed out of the driveway. “If not, don’t even bother calling me your boyfriend anymore.”
And then he left. He simply left. She looked down at her hands, covered in scuff marks and trails of blood. Her body was shaking from the cold but her shock petrified her more. Jake had –unintentionally—hurt her and he had left.
(Y/N) didn’t know what to do. She couldn’t call her sister. Bella would probably just stare at her as she took care of herself. She couldn’t call her dad and let him know what Jake had done. Maybe he wouldn’t have even thought that it was such a bad thing. There was only one person that she knew she could call. The only person that despite everything that had happened could bring her comfort.
Her hands screamed at her as they dug into the pocket of her pants to dig out her phone. She stared as the grey sweats she wore darkened with drops of blood. Her wrists ached and her palms stung, and all she wanted was someone to hold her.
“Paul,” her voice croaked through her phone as soon as the ringing stopped. “Can you come over, please?”
“I’ll be there soon,” was all he said.

Everyone noticed the change in the relationship between Dr. Cullen and Nurse Celine, having picked up the subtle looks at each other. Even without any explicit confirmation, the meaningful looks exchanged, especially from Dr. Cullen's eyes, were enough to indicate that something had changed between them.
“After discussing schedule issues with the morning people, Doctor Cullen wanted me to announce that we’ll soon go to having morning shifts now.” Celine announced to everyone in the night shift that was having some sort of snack in the cafeteria
“Always the first to know.” Nurse Sean teased her
He was the first one to pick up that what used to be pinning before was now mutual, the telltale glow in Doctor Cullen's eyes whenever Celine's name was mentioned spoke volumes, confirming the shift in their relationship
“You are kind of forgetting that I’m still his chief nurse.” She replied, playfully rolling her eyes at the redhead “Did you hit your head too hard in Italy?”
“Yeah Sean, besides, if Doc Cullen wanted her, they would have been together already.” Nurse Eunice said, before looking at Celine “So, are you dating? Because it’s clearer than a glass that he wants you.”
“Oh my god. No, we are not.” Celine said, having answered the same question already.
They weren’t exclusively dating, but the quick kisses that they share in their office just before they go back to work says otherwise.
They weren’t exclusively dating, but Carlisle turning down every sort of affection from other nurses and patients except for Celine’s says otherwise.
They weren’t exclusively dating, but Celine allowing only Carlisle to be the one to take her home after a long shift says otherwise.
They weren’t exclusively dating, but they might already be.
“There’s no shame in dating him. And as you said, he’s single.” Eunice teased her, wiggling her eyebrows playfully
“Eunice, no.” Celine said, shaking her head no with a smile “We’re just friends, don’t make me the topic of this week’s hospital gossip.”
“Yeah, the morning shift nurses think that Doctor Cullen being in the morning shift gives them some chances now.” Sean said, rolling his eyes “Do they not know that Doctor Cullen only likes the chief nurse of Forks Hospital?”
“Already the gossip of the morning shift, still the gossip of the night shift?” Carlisle asked, walking through their table with a box of donuts on one hand and a tray of coffee on another
“I guess you’re just too pretty to not be talk of the town.” Celine said, amused as she helps him with the food that he got for them
“Well, you would be talk of the country then if that’s the basis.” Carlisle said, a teasing grin on his face as she rolls her eyes at him “Eat up, wouldn’t want my best team to get hungry.”
“Wouldn’t want your Celine to be hungry, you say.” Sean teased him, opening the donut box and grabbing one for himself
Celine watched Carlisle grab a disposable cup and drink out of it. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion as to what was in the cup for him to actually drink it, Carlisle’s told her multiple times that he doesn’t intake anything other than animal blood, so the sight of him drinking out of a coffee cup confused her.
“Animal blood.” Carlisle whispered so quietly to Celine that she almost didn’t hear it if she wasn’t tuning out Sean and Eunice’s bantering “Threw the content of the cup so I could replace it with my drink.”
“Of course, why didn’t I figure that out?” Celine said, rolling her eyes with herself.
She grabbed one of the iced drinks, having told Carlisle once that she prefers iced beverages over hot ones after yelling a string of curses from burning her tongue.
The fact that he remembered that simple information she’s shared warmed her up deeply.
“So, will the four of us be in the morning shift, or just some selected ones?” Sean asked them
“Well, they’re asking for Nurse Celine to stay in the night shift, so she’s staying night shift until further announcements.” Carlisle answered, his lips pressed in a thin line as he pulls Celine a seat
“Wait, what?” Celine asked, looking at him in shock “I thought that the four of us would be on the morning shift?”
“That’s what I originally wanted too.” Carlisle answered as he rests his hand on Celine’s shoulder, subtly inviting her to sit down “But they said that they needed someone like her for the night shift.”
“Would it not make more sense for it to be you on night shift?” Celine asked, her eyebrows still furrowed as a frown form on her face. She sat down on the chair and grabbed a donut, eating out of frustration
Seeing the frown form on Celine's face, Carlisle couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment in himself. It had been his intention to bring her to the morning shift with him, not just so they could spend time at work together, but also because it’s beneficial for her.
He felt like he was disappointing his promise of giving her everything she wants.
“I’ll see what I can do more.” Carlisle said softly, sitting down next to Celine and resting his hand on Celine’s thighs, drawing circles to subtly comfort her “If it comes down to it, I’ll do night shifts so Celine can have morning ones.”
Back home, Alice couldn’t help but have a vision. Looking for anything to look out for, seeing as they now have another human to protect, especially with her being Carlisle’s mate. Because if there’s anyone that’s gonna know if someone wants jeopardize his happiness, it sure as hell would be Alice.
“See anything?” Edward asked before using his telepathy to look for himself as well
“I really cannot see a future where Celine doesn’t become a vampire.” Alice said softly, grabbing Jasper’s hand and playing with it “It just depends on who’s gonna change her.”
“The Volturi.” Edward said, seeing what Alice now meant “Are they going after her now?”
“Not yet.” She answered “But Aro has gotten the news of Carlisle finally meeting his mate. He’s finding it amusing that it’s a human.”
“Aro plans to be the one to personally change her only to spite Carlisle.” Edward continued, a disgusted look on his face
“He thinks that Carlisle won’t have the courage to change her, does he?” Jasper asked, his eyebrows furrowed as Alice nodded yes to his question
“I heard Volturi talks.” Emmett said, walking in with Rosalie
“What’s the Volturi got against us now this time?” Rosalie asked, her eyebrows furrowed
“Aro is sending a letter to us soon. He wants to meet Carlisle’s mate.” Alice informed “The letter consists of something about being happy that he’s found his mate.”
“What?!” Rosalie yelled, immediately figuring out that meeting her isn’t just what the Volturi wants
“We can’t let Carlisle and Celine go there; we have to stop them.” Edward said, the others nodded in agreement
“Oh, so no fighting Volturi today?” Emmett asked, making Rosalie fight off a smile
“We’re outnumbered. The guards alone will cause damage to us.” Edward answered logically, though the thoughts of fighting the Volturi was something he wasn’t opposed to doing
“If you’re talking about Jane, then we have Bella to counter her.” Jasper answered back “We can fight them if we want to, we just have to prepare.”
“Carlisle won’t let us.” Rosalie knowingly told them, knowing how much he still respected the Volturi despite their multiple attempts of destroying his family
“Do you think Celine would want us to fight?” Edward pondered
“Why suddenly ask– oh.” Emmett said, realizing what he meant
“Carlisle is willing to give her everything she wants. If she ever wanted to fight the Volturi, he would give in without second doubt.” Jasper said out loud in realization, a smirk on his face at the realization
“Do we tell Carlisle of the vision with the Volturi?” Alice asked “He’ll find out one way or the other, it’s best that we prepare him now.”
“Well, with that, we have to tell him that Celine’s gonna be a vampire too.” Edward said back “We’ve been holding that information back from him.”
“Celine doesn’t even know that they’re mates.” Rosalie added “Carlisle wants to give her the choice of walking away from him if she ever wants to.”
“Their relationship is built on secrecy?” Emmett asked
“More of ‘he just needs time before opening other vampire things to her,’ really.” Alice corrected him “It’ll be a shock to her, hearing those terms.”
“Carlisle wants to ask Celine to stay the night.” Edward suddenly announced to everyone in the room, changing the topic
“Has she eaten? Is there something open tonight? We can buy her food.” Rosalie immediately asked, standing up as she was about to rush and buy food for her.
‘Why did she warm up easier to Celine than Bella?’ Edward pondered, watching as she accidentally bumps into Bella on her way out
“Everything alright?” Bella asked
“Well, Celine’s staying the night here. We should at least get her food.” Rosalie said to her
“Celine already ate. Carlisle got her donuts.” Edward said, easing Rosalie
The Cullen kids then decided to lounge around the house, anticipating the arrival of their guest, while also hoping that Carlisle would finally provide the additional information that Celine needed.
“The vision is changing.” Alice announced, getting them to look at her
“Aro isn’t gonna send it to our house anymore.”
As the end of the shift approached, Celine found herself in excruciating pain, her back and legs aching beyond words. While she loved her work in the hospital and the opportunity to help people, the toll it took on her body was something she could do without.
“Carlisle doesn’t deal with this.” Celine frowned, trying to squeeze her calf. The thoughts of being a vampire just so she won’t be in pain plaguing her thoughts
“You good?” Carlisle asked, walking in their office as she rubs her legs, trying to soothe the pain
“Did a bit too much running.” Celine answered with a frown
“Cramping or just in pain?” He asked again, moving to where she was to check it out for himself. Carlisle gently rested his hand on her calf, massaging it, his cold hands acting as some sort of ice pack for it
“Just in pain, probably a light sprain.” She answered before shooing his hand away “I’ll be fine, no need to worry about me.”
“You’re asking me, of all beings that care for you, to not worry about you?” Carlisle chuckled at her before standing up and leaving a peck on her forehead “That’s like rejecting me already, my love.”
“Don’t be overdramatic, you know I would say if I want you to stop courting me.” Celine said, rolling her eyes at him
“The kids miss you.” Carlisle said in a soft tone, sitting down next to her
“I think you share too much about me with them.” Celine softly teased, resting her head on his shoulders
“They want to know you more beyond my stories.” He added, softly grabbing her left hand to admire “You know a lot about them, but they, minus Edward and Bella, knows little about you.”
As he held her hand, Carlisle's thoughts drifted, imagining the day he could slip a ring on that very hand. The idea of pledging himself to her, whether for eternity or until her mortal life's end, filled him with excitement. While he acknowledged it might be too early to contemplate such things, he couldn't help but visualize a future where they’re bound together in every sense of the word.
“Penny for your thoughts?” Celine asked him quietly
“Just admiring every bit of you.” Carlisle whispered softly
“You know.” Celine started; her eyes closed off as she enjoys the few minutes of solace with him “I’ve kind of considered being a vampire.”
“My love, you don’t have to pressure yourself into joining me.” Carlisle instantly assured her “A vampire or not, I will love you for all of your life and until the end of mine.”
“I know.” She whispered, a blush creeping on her cheeks from his assurance “But like, I would be leaving no one in this world if I choose to change into one of you. So, at least I wouldn’t deal with the pain of outliving anyone. Other than friends, obviously.”
“I’m not saying that I’ll do it now, but like, the thought is there.” Celine continued “I’m 27, I’m technically already older than all of you.”
“Fair enough.” Carlisle answered lightly, feeling so many emotions at once.
Carlisle was taken aback by Celine's unexpected openness to the idea of becoming a vampire with them. He had already resigned himself to loving her until the end of her mortal life and carrying the love she gave him until the end of his immortal existence.
“Well, only a few months till May comes. And when it does, I’m gonna be more older than all of you.” Celine lightly bantered, a smile on her face “As sexy as it sounds for others, I don’t think you’re a fan of dating someone that’s almost five years older than you.”
“My love, are you sure that you’re not pressured to do this?” Carlisle asked again
“I’m sure of my decision.” Celine assured him with a smile “I’d like to do it on the night of my 30th birthday, unless something fatal happens to me within those three years of waiting. It’ll give me more than enough time to do things that I as a vampire wouldn’t be able to do anymore.”
“Of course, your wish will be granted.” Carlisle whispered, a huge grin resting on his face as he looks at Celine’s hand again
For eternity it is.
“Stay the night with me?” Carlisle asked quietly, wanting nothing more than to spend every moment with her. He’ll have all of eternity already, he just wants to have a head start
“Of course.” Celine whispered in reply
Soon, their shift was officially over. Carlisle and Celine started gathering their stuff, making their way out of their office with huge grins on their faces.
Walking out of the hospital, Carlisle reached for Celine's hand and intertwined his fingers with hers. In that moment, everything felt wonderful, as if all the pieces were falling into place. It was only a matter of time until forever comes to him and Celine.
What’s 3 more years when he’s already waited 382 years for her?
She and Carlisle made their way to his car. Where a note was by the windshield. They both looked at each other, curious and concerned for what the note was about. Carlisle seemed to know the logo in front of the note as he quickly pulled it off his windshield, opening and seeing what it was
I would love to meet the future Mrs. Cullen of yours, Carlisle. Congratulations on finally meeting your mate.
