The concept of the group details the Marie family. After the queen has passed peacefully in her sleep, the question of which of the seven daughters has a legitimate claim over the monarchy of the kingdom of Vienna.

In their highly awaited debut, Antoinette was scheduled to be the very first group to debut under Hyacinth. Due to the unfortunate events of pre-debut group Bluebell's bullying scandal, their debut was delayed and label-mates Opalite went to debut instead. Despite the setback, the public was eager to know what the popular trainees were accumulating in their silence.

On July 1, 2022, an mysterious twitter account by the name of mp4.ribbons posted a teaser of a snippet called “Vanilla”. Throughout the month, cryptic posts from users of the song were revealed in order as users “G", “M”, “N”, “L” with introductions of making a cake. As the weeks passed, the speculation grew louder.

Finally seen on August 1, 2022, the final ingredient by user “A” was completed with a perfect raspberry petal cake with a vanilla swirl on top. The full reveal culminated as girl group Antoinette, their debut mini album “Sugary Sweet”. With the long-awaited lineup, each represented by their initials in the teaser campaign, were introduced with a luxurious, opulent aesthetic that contrasted the typical fresh-faced, humble vibe of most rookie groups.

The title track “Ice Cream Cake” absolutely blew competition out of the water. Antoinette’s popularity surged after their debut, and they quickly became one of the most successful groups. Their theatrical performances, stunning visuals, and undeniable vocals gave them seamless transition into stardom. As of now, Antoinette is one of the top reigning 4th generation acts.

Staying in touch with a loved one after their death is the promise of several start-ups using the powers artificial intelligence, though not without raising ethical questions.

Ryu Sun-yun sits in front of a microphone and a giant screen, where her husband, who died a few months earlier, appears.

"Sweetheart, it's me," the man on the screen tells her in a video demo. In tears, she answers him and a semblance of conversation begins.

When Lee Byeong-hwal learned he had terminal cancer, the 76-year-old South Korean asked startup DeepBrain AI to create a digital replica using several hours of video.

"We don't create new content" such as sentences that the deceased would have never uttered or at least written and validated during their lifetime, said Joseph Murphy, head of development at DeepBrain AI, about the "Rememory" program.

"I'll call it a niche part of our business. It's not a growth area for us," he cautioned.

The idea is the same for company StoryFile, which uses 92-year-old "Star Trek" actor William Shatner to market its site.

"Our approach is to capture the wonder of an individual, then use the AI tools," said Stephen Smith, boss of StoryFile, which claims several thousand users of its Life service.

Entrepreneur Pratik Desai caused a stir a few months ago when he suggested people save audio or video of "your parents, elders and loved ones," estimating that by "the end of this year" it would be possible to create an autonomous avatar of a deceased person, and that he was working on a project to this end.

The message posted on Twitter set off a storm, to the point where, a few days later, he denied being "a ghoul."

"This is a very personal topic and I sincerely apologize for hurting people," he said.

"It's a very fine ethical area that we're taking with great care," Smith said.

Nesse sábado (23/03) aconteceu um grande showcase com os trainees da Maxi Entertainment. Para aqueles que estão perdidos sobre isso, a empresa é conhecida por promover showcases mensais com um público seleto. O uso de celulares, máquinas fotográficas ou qualquer outro tipo de meio com o intuito de gravar as apresentações é proibido, porém, alguns fãs corajosos se arriscam para nos dar um gostinho de tudo que aconteceu por lá, postando vários vídeos e fotos num fórum de conversa sobre a indústria.

Aparentemente o showcase foi um grande sucesso! A casa estava lotada e muitos dizem que os gritos estavam tão altos que parecia que os trainees já eram idols em atividade. Além disso, as apresentações foram de cair o queixo. não esperávamos menos das “crias” de Cha Eunji, certo? Pelo que ficamos sabendo, além de algumas apresentações solos tivemos as apresentações em grupo e sub-units! Como eu queria estar lá para ver tudo isso de pertinho… Parece que todos os trainees conseguiram exalar simpatia e cativar o público, foram milhares os comentários que tivemos na postagem com os vídeos vazados. Não estamos aqui para falar de coisas negativas, até porque se os trainees da Maxi acabarem lendo esse artigo, queremos que eles saibam que existem pessoas muito ansiosas por seu debut.

Ainda no dia 25, pela manhã, a CEO fez uma reunião com os trainees, deixou claro que não era para se preocuparem com os vídeos vazados porque já estavam trabalhando para conter os danos. Adicionou também que o uso das contas era mais do que incentivado, podiam postar tweets conversando com os fãs, fotos, vídeos e qualquer outra coisa que quisessem.

By some miracle, when the day for purchase came, she was able to secure a ticket for herself. Well, more accurately, Soo-yun secured a ticket for her. Knowing the cut-throat nature of ticket sales for these things, Sakura had begged her two friends to help her, and they agreed, thinking the group was just her knew obsession. Like her One Direction phase back in middle school, or her Harry Potter phase in high school.

Now, waiting in one of the rows closest to the main stage, she couldn’t stop the excited twitch in her fingers. The venue was filled to the brim; the loud murmur coming off the crowd mixing with the Stray Kids songs playing in a loop through the speakers. Then, the lights dimmed, only brightening once all eight members were standing centre stage for the first song. It was different seeing them in this setting. Sakura had known all along of their vast following, their success in the recent years plastering the octet on every other billboard around the city. Their music filled public spaces, their dances done by performers worldwide. They were global.

But she had been fortunate enough to get to know them outside of the spotlight. The Chan that came to get her in the pouring rain without hesitation. The Lee Know that couldn’t stop laughing at her attempt to replicate their Hellavator routine. The Changbin that teased her when she couldn’t lift the box full of groceries in Jeju. The Hyunjin that sat with her in the sand as she cried. The Jisung that curled against her lap whenever stories were told. The Felix that offered to teach his secret brownie recipe when the smell alone had caused her to drool. The Seungmin that tugged on her ponytail every chance her got, but glared protectively if any of the other members tried it. The Jeongin that was quick to offer up a jacket of his that she had complimented, only settling when Sakura told him that he could help her pick out one of her own at the store. The eight boys that were stars to the world, but just boys to her. Friends. Almost family. And one, almost more.

After the first few songs ended, lights flooded the stage to give the audience a clear view of the group clad in shades of pink. Sakura screamed loudly with the fans around her, bouncing on the balls of her feet as the eight members introduced themselves on the platform in front of her.

As Hyunjin began introducing himself, the screams increased, causing her to jump. Sakura wasn’t sure whether or not it was the sudden movement that jarred his attention, but her eyes met that of the youngest seconds after. He needed no time to recognize the girl smiling up at him, a new sparkle in his eyes as he moved closer to the Aussie besides him. Raising zero suspicion, Jeongin rested his chin on the shoulder of his leader, momentarily whispering something into his reddening ear. He remained in place for a minute, nodding along to the other member’s dialog. When he finally moved away to do his own bit, Sakura watched Chan’s head turn to look over the crowd, gaze jumping around lazily before dropping to where he knew that she was. The eye contact lasted for a single heartbeat, but it was impossible to miss the giddy smile that formed on his lips when he turned back towards his members.

Surprised didn’t even begin to cover what the leader felt looking into the sea of fans and seeing her golden eyes staring back at him, cheeks full and tight as she smiled up at him. She hand was wrapped around the handle of a fan, his face printed on the side facing him. Chan couldn’t stop the blush that tinted his ears at the sight. The youngest member was quick to notice this, nudging the older boy teasingly before hopping out of the way of his hand before he could be knocked. Some of the other members shot them confused looks, only to have their eyes fill with realization as they too spotted Sakura one at a time.

The rest of the show was littered with small pokes and playful comments towards the leader, everyone else oblivious to what was going on. More songs were performed, and one cover – in which Chan decided that the perfect way to get back at the sly girl was to lift his shirt a little higher than what was originally planned. Much to his delight, her face flushed immediately. He had to cover up his laugh as she rushed to cover her face with her fan, shy eyes peeking out over the top when it was finally safe to look. Pink outfits became black, and soon they were bidding their farewells to the crowd. Each member was sure to send a wave in Sakura’s general direction before leaving the stage.

On her way out, the girl felt her phone vibrate in the pocket of her coat.

>> Chan: You’re a menace, petal.

She grinned, eagerly typing back.

>> Sakura: Surprise?

>> Chan: Meet you at the river?

>> Sakura: Always, I’ll be waiting

The silent night was suddenly interrupted by the sound of shoes hitting the ground repeatedly, like running. In the moment that it took for Sakura to turn toward the noise, she just managed to catch sight of the boy before she was swept up into his arms. She screamed, wrapping her arms around his neck immediately as he laughed into her shoulder. However, the boy failed to stop. Another shout left the girl as she felt them fall, with Chan’s foot slipping on the damp grass beneath them. He fell back, with Sakura landing gracelessly on top of him, unintentionally slamming her forehead into his chin. Chan groaned, head falling back into the grass as he rubbed his aching face.

“Shit, are you okay?” Sakura asked him, most of her words muffled by the laughter tearing through her small frame. Her hands grasped his face, a gentle thumb smoothing over the area of impact when his hand dropped to her waist.

“No, your big head broke my face,” he whined, both eyes closed dramatically. He felt something hit his forehead, eyes opening right away to see her retreating hand.

“Did you just flick me?” Chan asked in mock disbelief.

“Do you have evidence to prove that statement, Mr Bang?”

Chan twisted underneath her, throwing all his weight to one side so that she toppled over onto the ground besides him. He wasted no time in rolling with her, hovering over her stunned person with a sly smirk forming on his face.

“If you’re thinking of tickling an apology out of me, you are surely mistaken. I happen to be immune to such antics,” she said smugly, her tongue poking out childishly from between pink lips. Her claims didn’t stop him. Chan’s hands reached out, fingers tickling her sides. Unfortunately for him, the girl stayed completely still, her ‘I-told-you-so’ grin only growing as he continued to try and fail. He huffed, admitting his defeat in silence as his arms folded over his chest meekly.

While the win was sweet, she could take him seriously with his bottom lip stuck out in a pout. So, with a cute smile, Sakura sat up slightly to meet him, lips pressing against his chin in an apologetic kiss. “Better?”

The man’s eyes lit up. “You know, now that I think about it, you knocked into my lips too.” His lips puckered playfully, causing her to laugh. She pinched his side, earning a small yelp from Chan. She may have been immune to his attacks, but he sides were unguarded and sensitive under her fingers. He giggled, swatting her hands away like they were flies on a summer day. This only caused her to laugh harder.

“You’re a menace, petal,” he whispered against her check before laying down beside her. He then stretched out, sliding one arm under her head and the other over her waist, pulling her closer until his face rested in the nook of her neck. Chan inhaled deeply, the scent of spearmint making his head swim. She smelled like mornings without an alarm after long nights. He relaxed into her, his body molding to perfectly fit against hers as her hand brushed through his hair the way it always did.

Sakura turned her head slightly, brushing an affectionate kiss to Chan’s cheek, right where his dimple sat, as she asked, “Were you surprised?” She felt the boy nod, the tip of his nose tickling her neck as he did. He placed an open-mouthed kiss to the hollow of her neck, resulting in a soft sigh on her end. He did it a second time, this time a little higher, and continued until he reached her ear.

“Do you know how hard it was not to stare at you and only you the entire time I was up there? How difficult it was to interact with you like any other person when I have the taste of your skin burnt into my memory? It was hard as fuck, Sakura.”

The girl next to him giggled. With a teasing tone, she questioned, “It was hard?”

Chan nipped at her jugular. “I was referring to the situation, you pervert.”

Looking down, she could see the slight embarrassed tint to his cheeks from her comment. He’s adorable. So, she rolled over slightly, wrapping her arm tightly around his torso before burying her head in his warm chest.

“You’re soft,” she mumbled, tightening her hold on him for a second before completely relaxing in his embrace.

Chan snorted. “I always knew you only liked me for my body.”

“Who said I liked you to start with?”

“Oh, so that’s how you’re going to play? Fine, lay on the cold grass then,” he sulked, wiggling around trying to get out of her grip. Not that he was trying very hard. His heart squeezed when he felt her arms hold onto him tighter, one leg thrown over his own to prevent his escape.

A whiney ‘no’ was heard from her, but Chan continued to squirm around beneath her. That was, until he felt a sharp pain in his chest. Chan froze, and he felt Sakura freeze against him as well. He looked down at her, only to be met with a guilty face red in a blush from ear to ear. The gears in his head turned.

“Did you just-“

“Nope.”

“You liar! You did!”

“I didn’t!”

“You just bit me!”

“Well, would you look at the time, I should get home. Bye.”

Sakura wasn’t even able to roll a millimetre away before two arms looped around her waist and pulled her back until her upper half was lying flat on him. His hold was tight, and Sakura had to accept that she would not be escaping any time soon. She was screwed. Looking anywhere but down at the eyes burning into her, she felt Chan’s fingers fiddle with the hem of her sweatshirt. The graze of a single digit along her burning skin underneath had her shivering in his arms.

“Now, care to explain why you decided to bite me, petal?”

Trying to ignore the fingers trailing up her spine and the cold air lapping at the exposed skin of her back, she shook her head. She felt the vibrations ripple through his firm chest beneath her as he hummed.

“Well then, it’s only fair that I get to do the same, right?” The suggestion was enough to pull her eyes to his, an amused expression covering his face.

“You are not biting me, Christopher.”

“But you just bit me,” he shot back, eyes drifting to her chest momentarily before meeting her burning eyes once more. “If I don’t get an explanation then surely it’s only fair that I get to do the same to even things out.” His eyes drifted again. Chan didn’t even try to hide it this time, his ears no doubt a bright shade of pink the longer his gaze lingered. Sakura gasped.

“No!”

“Then explain!”

“It’s not my fault your chest is more bitable!”

Another flicker. “I mean-“

“Stop looking at my chest!”

“Then stop looking at mine!”

Sakura fell silent for a single second, in which her eyes dropped back down to his chest. “Never mind, you can look.” Chan barked out a laugh. Slipping one hand out from beneath her shirt, he grasped her chin and pulled her down to meet him in a kiss. They had found themselves in their own bubble once again, absorbed in the comforting company of the other.

If only they could hear the stars warning them of what was to come.
