Is it anywhere confirmed that the tweels are part of a mafia?
I read somewhere that in one of the birthday vignettes one of them said that their parents are part of the eldritch sea mafia or smth
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That would be incorrect! The twins never formally state that their family is a mafia. For that matter, no character does. Both Jade and Floyd do have various birthday vignettes (most notably Birthday Boys and Platinum Jackets) where they talk about their parents and drop dialogue which would imply the line of work their father is in is shady. For example, the twins were taught suspiciously specific self-defense skills such as lock-picking and how to escape from ropes. The Leech parents are also constantly worrying for the safety of their sons... but why, hmm? Some concern is expected, but in what situation would a kid need to know how to lock-pick and escape from binds???
On numerous instances, Jade and Floyd mention that their dad has many "connections" and "business associates" who try to gain his trust by giving his sons gifts, so he makes them sign contracts which state that they won't be looking for favors in return. Again, not normal people behavior. There's the insinuation that the family is well-off, and that the Leech dad is concerned about how one dresses (this is where Floyd gets his love of shoes from), which could relate to how the mafia has very strict codes about presentation and behavior. Floyd has also said that he has been to many formal, stuffy parties (presumably for family business) and he didn't enjoy them very much.
The twins themselves are just as evasive when the subject of what specific work their dad does comes up. It is mostly Jade who does not elaborate on the family details beyond a certain point, whereas Floyd tends to terrorize others with the knowledge of it. One instance of the latter is during the Wish Upon a Star event, in which Floyd asks Idia if he really wants to know what their family does for a living. The idea seems to frighten Idia, even though he is not provided the answer. When Jade is asked what their parents do in his Birthday Boy vignettes, he replies with insisting, “They simply run an independent business that dabbles in a bit of everything. Nothing out of the ordinary, I assure you.” This coming from Jade… We cannot entirely trust it. All of this together comes off as sort of suspicious, and it has led to the popular (and widely accepted) fan theory that the Leeches are a mafia family. We won't know for sure until TWST outright confirms it, maybe in a Coral Sea hometown event or something.

“All this wishing upon stars…Guess we just gotta have faith our dreams will come true.” ✨
Once again drew Deuce in his Starsending robes! I was really inspired by the posters that came out for the upcoming Disney movie, “Wish,” as it gives me Wish Upon a Star event vibes. I wanted to include some of the wishes from the event and I ended up doing at least one wish from each dorm, so try and see if you can tell which ones I included.
This piece took a bit longer than I expected, but I think it turned out pretty well! I enjoyed playing with the colors of the wishes as well as the silhouettes on them. Not sure what I’ll end up working on next, but we shall see!

Wish Upon a Star is my favorite event. The aesthetics and the glimpses into everyone’s lives really gave us a window to what was in store for us in Book 7.
The more I think about the event the more it surprises me how it foreshadowed book 7 so well.
Lilia’s wish, which asked for harmony between all species, easily implied the strife he had to face in the past. We saw first hand what he went through didn’t we? The sacrifices he made and the people he lost. The constant looking for a way for Malleus to hatch and then taking steps for that very harmony which he taught Malleus and then raised Silver as his own.
Then we have Silver’s wish for Lilia to live a long life and live happily. This is where we get the first hint of Lilia’s deteriorating life span. (That’s not book 2 related). We know now what age Lilia is, his deteriorating magic, and what let to its acceleration. We see Silver’s determination and his thought process about it. His flash of insecurity and duty to his family. And now we see his renewed determination to protect them.
Then we have Malleus’ wish for a friend for gao gao kun, and this is where we see how feeling connected to someone is important to Malleus. How bonds to him are precious. We learn that Lilia got his tamogatchi during his travels. Another implication of how important traveling is and its connection to Malleus’ birth. Here we see Malleus not only care about his bond but he wants to makes bonds and how he treasures that very idea. The very thing he’s been trying to do at NRC. Which made him happy because gao gao got that connection he always wanted, to the point of rewarding Idia. This, in a way, shows the importance of bonds to Malleus. Hence why he put everyone to sleep so he wouldn’t loose those few bonds he preciously has and no one will either. Also, it depicts the role the “tamogatchi” plays.
Sebek’s wish for everyone to “kneel before Lord Malleus” and at the time might seem like a very fanboy move on his end. But was it really in retrospect? Out of all of them, we can see how observant Sebek is. He’s empathetic to the pain that Malleus is feeling to the point of almost falling into the darkness. He was the one to knock some sense in Silver. Now, he’s ready to break Malleus out of his overblot because he knows that for someone so loved, he doesn’t want the world to hate him for his actions. Which is essentially his wish for the world to appreciate Malleus.
Just thinking about this event and book 7 has me in awe again how detailed and beautiful the story telling is. ☺️🌺💚

Deuce's wish for his future career isn't bad or out of character.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I swear some people saw this screenshot and they lost their ever-loving minds.)
I can understand people having reservations about this particular story choice (real life sentiments can color one's gameplay experience), but I do draw the line at calling it "copaganda" and saying it ruins his character.
It seems perfectly in character to me to have Deuce, as a formerly troubled delinquent, decide to take his straight and narrow life trajectory in the opposite direction (from breaking the law to enforcing it). This is before accounting for the fact that he doesn't just want to be "a cop," he wants to be a member of an elite magic law enforcement agency.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Deuce isn't just trying to take his life in the opposite direction, he found a goal to work towards and he's decided to go for something he knows is going to be difficult for him. He's giving himself very high expectations to live up to. It's in service to the same attitude he's tried to uphold since he was first introduced: Becoming a better person. Being inspired by a good police officer is not some sort of political annecdote. It's just an explanation for how Deuce got an idea for where he should take his life when he decided to stop being a troublemaker, and some people took that idea WAY too seriously.
Tumblr media
Furthermore, he clarifies that he's thinking of his mom when considering his future, and we all know by now that this is 100% IN CHARACTER for him to do. Just because you don't like the idea, doesn't mean the character isn't written consistently.
(And no matter how respectable a job he gets, I think Dylla will always worry about him.)

hi hi :D i saw identity's request with floyd so for the event, id like to request...
stargazing - jade - mainly fluffy romance (preferably tooth rotting stuff)
hope you have a great day!
Stargazing; Jade Leech
Content; Fluff, gender-neutral reader, romance (aiming for cardiac arrest)
Word Count; 650+
AN; The second of three Jade requests, which I am more than happy to write. Much like with Identity, consider this as a wedding present ^v^ As a reminder, do not put my work — or others for that matter — into AI as it steals. Link to Masterlist

The waves crashed against the cliffs. The wind weaved between the blades of grass that covered the dunes. The waning crescent moon hung low in the sky, mirrored in the dark sea. And above you were stars and nebulas, foreign yet holding an air of familiarity. Of home. But you weren’t alone. Beside you, sitting in the shallow water just deep enough to cover his gills, was Jade, sitting in the pale moonlight in his mer-form, glowing faintly. And you sat beside him in the water, looking up to the sky with wonder in your eyes.
“It’s stunning,” you whisper, trying to decide on what to focus on. “Thank you for inviting me, Jade.”
Jade shifted in the water, turning so he was closer to you. “Truly it is my pleasure, Prefect,” he chuckled.
It was always Prefect, and never your name. After months of friendship you thought he would have dropped the title in favour of your name. “Why do you call me Prefect,” you ask, turning to look at him.
You always thought Jade was beautiful, both inside and out despite what others say, but now, he looked ethereal. Features highlighted in the pale silver light of the moon and the blue from his own bioluminescence. It really wasn’t fair, especially since your feelings have shifted from merely platonic months ago. If a crush lasts more than four months, it’s not a crush; it’s love. The puppy crush had shifted from that, a mere crush, to a soul shattering love. But you had not wanted to push your luck
Jade hummed to himself, “Well, what would you like me to call you then?” You could tell from the way his eyes glimmered that he was teasing you. Plus there was the ever faint smile he only had when he was subtly poking fun, of when he was trying to push your buttons.
You groaned and splashed him with water. “You’re awful. I thought Floyd would be the most troublesome, but you are so much worse,” you teased back.
A star shot across the sky. Was this a sign? To wish for something more? That your — what you believed — one-sided crush was reciprocated?
“Did you make a wish?” Jade was now brushing shoulders with you and looking at you with an intensity that you’ve only seen a handful of times. “Do you think it will come true?”
You leaned into him, “Mhm, but if I told you, then it wouldn’t come true. Bad luck and all.”
He looked at you from the corner of his eye, “May I tell you my wish then?”
Was this a sign?
“But if you tell me, it won’t come true,” you give him a confused look.
Jade hummed to himself, eyes tracing your face before locking in on your eyes. Gazing so deeply, as if he was looking directly into your soul. “But what if it does?” But what if it does, my dear? “I would be willing to test the fates to see it come to fruition.”
You sighed, prompting him to go on. So he did. He took your hand in his and place it over his chest, where his heart resided.
“My wish,” he breathed out gently, “is to be with you, my dear Prefect. If you will have me.”
His heartbeat was steady, and he was looking at you with such tenderness, with such love, that you could have sworn that your heart stopped. That this was some cruel prank. But no, this was sincere. This was real. Jade felt the same as you, and subjected himself to vulnerability for you. There was no ulterior motive. No sharp smiles. Nothing else but truth in his olive and gold eyes.
You placed his hand over your own heart, which was beating as fast as a hummingbird’s wings. “I will always have you… if you will have me,” you said. Reflected in his eyes was another shooting star.
Make a wish.
Steeling yourself you placed a small kiss to his lips, but before you could retreat, Jade gave you one in return. “Was that your wish, my dearest?”

Hey Raven,
Do we know how Idia's tablet works? Like, does he have to type everything he wants to say? Is it linked to his mind? Something else? If we don't what are your theories?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I believe it works like a typical tablet device you’d find irl! … Err, you know 😅 minus the floating. The floating is probably the result of technomantic (magic + tech) engineering, which is a specialty of Ignihyde students.
Most of the time, Idia speaks to his classmates through his tablet instead of physically showing up to class or to meetings. His voice coming out of the device, paired with the graphical fluctuations that occur on the screen itself when it’s giving off an audio signal, implies he’s on the other end talking to them via a call.
We get confirmation of the call function in Wish Upon a Star. Idia is talking passionately about his beloved Star Rogue when he accidentally “[mutes his] mic.” Additionally, upon realizing his big brother is no longer answering, Ortho says, “Maybe he got mad and ended the call.” This (calling) appears to be Idia’s primary mode of communication via his tablet:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The other major use for it is for text-to-speech capabilities. This is very explicitly shown to us in book 5.
We get a flashback scene of Idia having just successfully made an invention that will help him give an in-person presentation for the upcoming school cultural festival. Idia “built] a sound library for [his] own voice”, as well as “a program that reads out text smoothly in real time as you type.” So in other words, he is now able to produce synthesized speech to speak in his place.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We do not see Idia use the text-to-speech function as often as we see him use the call function. Perhaps this is because the former was introduced to us relatively late in the main story.
Related, Idia uses text-to-speech early in the Sledathon event. He becomes too frustrated/nervous trying to communicate face-to-face to convey his interest in visiting Harveston, so he produces his tablet and speaks through typing. Though the events exist in a dubious void in the main story timeline, a prerequisite for Harveston might be post book 5 since that’s the point when Idia invents that program.
