Kas'im fights rancors at Lehon Star Wars :: Drew Karpyshyn, Darth Bane: Path of Destruction, ch.23

[There is only one rancor in the novel, but I draw two of them just for composition]

"Kas'im wasn't surprised in the least by the ambush. He'd sensed the rancor's presence from several hundred meters away, just as it had surely caught his scent and stalked him from some great distance. He met the creature's charge with calm, ruthless efficiency. (...) Kas'im twisted and dodged, leaping over one attack, then dropping to the ground to roll beneath another. He moved so fast he would have been nothing but a blur had the rancor not been blinded by rage. And with each evasion he struck another blow, whittling away at the mountain of sinew and flesh like a master sculptor working a lump of lommite. The rancor floundered, lumbering and stumbling as if it were performing some drunken spacer's dance. In contrast, Kas'im was quick and precise. With each passing second his opponent slowed, its strength ebbing away. At last, with a forlorn groan, the beast toppled forward and lay motionless."

'Star Wars': Bly x Aayala Fanfictions Part 1

Aayla wakes as a low, insistent hum in the Force warns her of danger. It feels oddly closer than usual - a personal, intimate threat rather than one directed at her status as a Jedi General.

Bly was a lot of things but he wasn't stupid. Sure he had done stupid things when tired or when he and his brothers went to a bar but he wasn't stupid when it came to Aayla Secura. Was he?

Gree had pointed out that she became flustered whenever she was around Bly, that she couldn't directly look him in the eye without becoming anxious. But Bly heard that twilleks run hoter than humans, she probably just got really hot whenever she was around him.

But Fox also stated that she flirts with Bly and he's just too stupid to see it. She's his General and a jedi at that he couldn't, she couldn't and she doesn't.

Bly copes with the aftermath of losing a battle.

His last conscious memory was a frantic shout.

“Look out!” Bly heard – and so he did, snapping his gaze up into the bright Ossus sunlight and blinking against the glare before -

- pain and pressure cracked against his skull, and everything went black.

It was (more than) a matter of duty. He was supposed to protect his general, after all - not the other way around.

So the prequel movies came out when I was in elementary/middle school and while I loved Padmé, I always wanted to see a female Jedi. As a kid I dressed up as Leia for Halloween but instead of a toy blaster I had a light saber for trick or treating. So that two second glimpse of Aayla in Attack of the Clones just made me want to be her so bad. I was heartbroken when ROTS came out and they killed her.  When I got into cosplay, Aayla was always a “dream cosplay”. Something to look forward to in the future. 2019 was a rough year for me personally, so i decided that I’d deserved to make my dream cosplay. No more putting it off for the future.

Making Aayla was a lot. Mainly because it took forever to find the right kind of fabric, not many people carry brown fabrics. I don’t like to order fabric online so I had to find it. I’m lucky enough to live close enough to LA that I could search the fashion district.

Once I found that, I was able to paint the undershirt and sew the two top pieces how I wanted. I also made the head covering that goes over the lekku. I already had the pants and boots from other outfits. I ordered the twi’lek head piece from the wonderful @twi’lek_pam who was just so helpful and gave so much good advice on cosplaying a twi’lek.

Finally, came the body paint. I’ve never body painted before and that was a whole new experience. So many mistakes 😂. I ended up remaking the first under top since the body paint from wearing it at Los Angeles Comic Con  kinda messed it up. But you live and learn.

I’m much more confident in myself now, both in my body and my personality. When I first started cosplaying, I felt embarrassed walking to a con in a cosplay. I felt silly and a bit out of place among all those gorgeous cosplayers. Now, I know that everyone’s just out to have a good time.

One of my favorite things to do at a con is just give compliments to cosplayers as I walk by. It made me so happy when people said nice things to me about my cosplays that I just want to spread that joy. Cosplay has had a lot of ups and downs for me. I’ve gotten friends from it and lost friends from it, but as long as I can still get that spark of happiness and share it with other people then I’ll keep cosplaying.

So in me and my best friend’s webcomic, we are going to add a Muslim Twi’lek. But we want her to wear a Hijab, and neither of us are Muslim so we dont know what would be the correct way in this instance. I made some examples in photoshop (dont worry, she wont have skin showing in the webcomic) but we still dont know.

Basically, a Twi’lek’s tentacles (which are called lekku) are like arms, and they use them extensively in their language, similar to asl. But since the point (i think) of a Hijab is to cover one’s hair, would they count as hair and need covered? or would they hang out? If they did hang out, would the back or the front be best?

Please help, we really want to be as respectful as possible with this character

18 - Help Is On The Way

When you woke up you felt sweaty and groggy, your bones ached, but your head was a little clearer. Tech and Echo had built a fire and Tech was simmering something in a small pot.

"What.... what happened?" you asked, groaning.

Echo, immediately came to your side and gently pulled you into a sitting position, leaning you against his chest.

"You fainted, the fever got the best of you" he explained gently "I was incredibly worried".

You blinked, wiping your watery, swollen eyes. You could feel under your hands how hot your face was.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you," you said softly.

Echo squeezed you gently and adjusted a wool blanket you were wrapped in. Where did the blanket come from? You were also wearing dry clothes, a long-sleeved shirt and cotton pants that were a little too big for you.

"Where did the blanket...the clothes come from?" you asked, confused.

Tech looked up from the pot he was stirring and explained, "I snuck back to the Twillek, he was kind enough to give me some things, like the blanket, the clothes, the pot, and a few other things like the herbs I'm making tea with for you right now."

You looked at him gratefully and said, "Tech, that was dangerous, you shouldn't have done that."

Tech said seriously. "It was necessary, the fever would have gone up and up otherwise, it could have killed you".

You gulped as you realized how serious this whole thing was.

Tech explained, "I don't know much about the flora and fauna of Batuu, but our junk dealer friend does. He explained to me what it is most likely that has afflicted you".

You looked at him questioningly.

"What do I have?"

"Fungal spores in the soil which when in contact with water become odorless, gas and settle in the lungs, from there they enter the blood and cause a severe bacterial infection accompanied by severe flu symptoms such as fever, aching limbs, sore throat and headache. Residents protect themselves accordingly and many have already developed resistance. Echo and I are immune due to our genetic modification, you however have been fully exposed to the spores"

"Fuck," you cursed softly.

Echo gently patted your arm and said, "It's not your fault, none of us knew about the spores. Don't worry, we'll get you back on your feet".

Tech assured you: "Don't worry, you won't suffer any permanent damage, but we will have to stay in this cave for at least two more nights, before that you will hardly be able to travel on foot".

You sighed and nodded slowly.

"Do you know anything new about the Imperials?" you wanted to know.

Echo said, "They seem to have left the planet, so we're out of danger for now, but Tech said our shuttle was seized, it's gone."

That was discouraging.

"I sent a message to Hunter, I don't know when he'll get it or how soon he can get here with the others, but the Marauder will probably pick us up sooner or later"

He filled a cup with the liquid he had boiled and handed it to you.

"Be careful, the tea is still very hot, wait a few minutes before you drink it".

You nodded and warmed your cold fingers on the cup. Your body was way too warm but your hands and feet were cold. As you said this out loud Tech said reprovingly, "You need to pay more attention to your health, the cold hands and feet are not from the spores but suggest a circulatory problem. You need more vitamins among other things."

Echo nodded, "Tech is right, we all haven't been eating very healthy lately."

Again Tech nodded, "But it usually shows up faster in women, it has to do with their menstrual cycle among other things."

You carefully took your first sip of the hot drink. It tasted neither bad nor particularly good, it tasted very slightly fruity and like herbs, but not particularly intense. However, you immediately felt how your sore raw throat calmed down.

"It's good," you said softly.

Echo gently felt your forehead and said, "Good, Cyare, as long as it helps you."

"Tech come in please"

That was Hunter's voice over Tech's comm.

"That was quick" you said in surprise.

"Cyare, you were unconscious for almost 48 hours" Echo said laughing softly.

"Shit."

Tech gave Hunter your coordinates and explained that you couldn't walk. From the background Wrecker rumbled, "Never mind, I'll carry the girl."

Crosshair asked, "Why? What's wrong with her?"

If you weren't mistaken, he sounded concerned.

"It's a bit much to explain in a hurry now, we'd prefer if you go on your way now, and we'll explain everything when you pick us up" Tech said.

"But she's going to be okay, right? It's nothing serious?" asked Hunter.

"She'll be fine," Tech confirmed.

"Okay, we'll come and get you."

You sighed and said to Echo and Tech, "I'd be lost without you two".

Tech said matter-of-factly, "Well, actually, you wouldn't have gotten into this situation in the first place without us"

You could feel Echo stiffen and glared at Tech, you didn't want Echo to feel guilty again.
