So I haven’t been around in let’s say, a while.
So I feel as if I should update and some people know why I tend to come and go.
My life is crazy right now, I lost my job in April and haven’t been able to find a replacement no matter how many applications and follow ups I do, everyone is hiring but nobody is actually hiring.
My boyfriend of 7 months moved closer to me and I also fell pregnant so now I’m 10 weeks pregnant with a little girl, with no job and feel like I’m screwing everything up.
As for the activity issues of this account, I have severe ADD and I struggle keeping my interest in certain topics of fan fiction, and because the majority of my followers enjoy TWD, I don’t get a lot of attention on other fan fiction genres that deserve well attention. And as I made this account to give all authors of all types of genres attention and more traffic to their account, it’s disappointing, not to mention I’m basically relying on myself to read everything to give my best judgement because I don’t get actively at all in my inbox for suggestions from others that believe an author deserves more attention.
I’m sorry if this is ranting, and idk if those that follow me are even active anymore but I figured id give an update.
Thank you, bare with me :)

State Championship Part 14
(A TWD Fan Fiction)
I do not own any of the rights to The Walking Dead, nor do I own any of the characters mentioned from here on in, other than Victoria Hawkins. Some situations have been changed and some people may have been switched in this alternate universe.
Coach Negan Smith X Female OC
Word Count: 2176
~*~
Part 14
Before Victoria knew it about a year had gone by as she stayed at the St. John Dairy farm with her sister. She had found herself keeping busy with helping Drew and Danny keep the farm safe while Erika tended to the animals with Brenda. It seemed to be going very well after they got the electric fence completely set up around the farm and working properly. She had gotten proficient with using a gun as well as other objects to fend off the walkers with Drew’s help. He seemed to like her a lot, but she paid him no mind.
Over the course of the year, Victoria and Erika saw plenty of people come and go from the farm, talking about possible settlements and encampments that had been set up. Kinda like safe zones for people and this intrigued Victoria. She often wondered if Negan was out there in one of the settlements, but never brought it up to anyone.
One night a particular group had made their way to the farm and asked for refuge from the horrors outside the fence and Ma gave the okay for them to stay in the barn for the night. Being the kind soul Victoria was, she brought food from the house to them.
“Dinner’s on, we made food over in the guest house and wondered if you guys wanted some?” She brought the basket of food into the barn with the newcomers.
The young mother smiled as she held her son close, “Emery would you like some dinner?”
The young boy lit up as he nodded, “thank you miss!”
Victoria sat the basket down for the group, “I’m Victoria. If you need anything please feel free to come over. My sister and I have been staying in the guest house.”
The young mother smiled as she reached into the basket, “I’m Debbie,” she pointed to the man leaning against a hay bale, “that’s my husband Henry. And this is my son Emery.” She looked around, “William must be up in the house talking with those nice people about us staying longer than just the night.”
“It’s nice to meet you all.” She smiled warmly, “I’m sure they will let you guys. The St. John’s are nice people.” Victoria turned to head out of the barn and made her way back to the guest house.
As the sun was setting over the farm, Erika made her way from the main house in a hurry. “Sis, we have a problem.” Her eyes were wide. “I’m not supposed to say anything, but Drew just told me that we are running out of food and we can’t feed everyone.”
Victoria shook her head, “that’s bound to happen, the cows haven’t been doing so great.”
“I overheard some weird stuff, which I don't think I was supposed to hear, but I think they are talking about eating those nice people in the barn.”
Victoria’s eyes went wide, “what!?” She quietly exclaimed as she looked up to the house. “You must have heard wrong.”
“No, I promise you I didn't. Ma said that they were already working on cooking one of them up.”
Victoria looked to her sister with concern, “then I need you to pack up and get ready to run.” She motioned to the house, “have the family ready too. I’m going up to find out what’s going on.”
“Be careful. Don’t let them know that you know.” Erika warned as she headed back to the guest house to pack up their bags.
Quietly Victoria made her way up to the house, slinking along the side of it towards the kitchen window. She made sure to stay low and out of sight as she eavesdropped into the conversation that was taking place.
“Ma, the girls have been important to us. We have to tell ‘em.” Drew’s voice almost sounded like he was pleading with her.
“Fine,” Ma sounded different, almost like a woman with no feelings at all. A complete and total different person, “we already killed one of the newcomers, but he was scrawny. He won’t feed us long and it won’t take those people long to realize he ain't coming back from the house.”
“Then we need to send them on their way or utilize them too.” Danny said coldly as his footsteps paced the kitchen.
Victoria’s heart stopped, her sister was right. The family that took them in were eating people and on top of that planning to slaughter that wonderful family down in the barn. She wouldn't allow that to happen. Quietly she made her way back down to the walkway between the guest house and the barn. Noticing her sister was standing in the partially open barn door waving at her.
“So?” Erika asked, handing Victoria’s backpack to her.
Slipping into the barn she shook her head. “You heard right.” She leaned down to make sure Erika packed everything of importance. Her family photos, her iPod, some clothes and provisions. It was all there. Standing up she shouldered the bag, “I don’t know if we are going to be able to sneak out without them noticing, but it is worth a try.”
Debbie stepped forward with a concerned look on her face, “what about William? Where is he?”
Breathing a heavy sigh she shook her head while looking down, “he’s gone. They disposed of him…” She was unable to tell them that he was the St. John’s dinner that night. “We have to move. Does your truck have any gas?”
Henry nodded, “we have about a half a tank, been siphoning it here and there to get away from the walkers.”
“You don’t think they siphoned the gas from the truck for the generators do you, sis?” Erika asked, looking out the barn up to the house.
She shook her head. “I doubt it. We had to raid the gas station up the street a few days ago. The generators had plenty.”
“Then I say, we make a break for it.” Debbie stepped forward with her son behind her, “you two are more than welcome to come with us. It’s the least we can do for you since you warned us and you're helping us escape.”
Victoria nodded to her sister, “alright.” She pushed the barn door open a bit more, noticing the lights in the house now that the sun had gone down more. “They seem preoccupied with whatever they are doing. We should go now. Stay low and quiet.”
The family nodded to Victoria as she made her way out of the barn with them behind her. Slowly and quietly they made for the truck. Henry, Debbie and Emery took the cab and the two girls slipped into the back.
As soon as the truck started the front door to the house came flying open and a bunch of cussing ran out over the farm. Henry hit the gas as the sounds of gunshots rang out through the farm. Peppering the side of the truck and almost hitting the girls in the back.
“You girls alright?” Henry asked as they hit a dirt road and blasted through the fence at the front of the farm.
“Yeah, are you guys?” Erika said through the small window.
Henry nodded and then looked down at his gas gauge, “we’re not going to get too far, but we will get far enough away from those freaks.”
“Have you girls heard of a place called Alexandria?” Debbie asked as she turned to talk to them through the window.
Victoria shook her head, “I can't say that I have.”
Debbie smiled as she handed a map through the window, “It’s said to be a safe zone, like a settlement. Some guy named Rick Grimes runs the place. That’s where we have been trying to get to.”
Taking the map she placed it in her pocket, “is it really a safe zone?”
“That’s what we’ve heard and that’s good enough for me to want to check out.” Henry said as he turned down another road.
“Alexandria…” Erika said almost dreamily. “The place sounds pretty.”
“It can sound pretty all it wants, but that doesn’t mean it’s real.” Victoria settled back in the truck bed and closed her eyes.
“Well we can always hope.” Erika curled up with her sister.
A few hours later the truck sputtered and died. Rolling to a stop as the sun was coming up. The sudden jerk of the gas running out of the truck woke Victoria up from her sleep. Reaching over she gently woke her sister.
“Ride’s over girls. Trucks made her last hooray.” Henry said as they got out of the truck. “Time to take a walk.”
Victoria leaned down and picked up a machete from the truck bed and fastened it to her belt as she jumped down to the ground. Erika followed, grabbing a pipe that was in the back of the truck.
“Are you sure this is the right road towards the train cars?” Debbie asked as she held Emery’s hand.
“Positive.” Henry smiled as he looked down to the map he was carrying. “It’s a couple days' walk, but this is the right way.”
Erika looked over to Victoria with a smile, “hey, maybe things will look up when we get to this place.”
“Let’s hope.” She said as she fell into step with the family.
As they walked they heard the sounds of the walkers, moaning, wheezing and shuffling around. It was horrifying, but it was their life now. They made their way down the path and kept their eyes peeled for danger. Soon they realized that there were more and more walkers in the area, which made Victoria concerned.
Victoria pulled her sister close as they walked due to the moaning and wheezing getting louder. “Erika, I think we are about to be in some major trouble. Stay near me.”
Erika nodded as she noticed some walkers making their way from the treeline towards them. She grabbed her sister's hand as they made their way closer.
“Shit guys.” Henry said as he pulled his gun from his belt. Firing off a shot at one of the walkers that got close to them.
“Don’t! Noise attracts them!” Victoria quietly exclaimed as more came out of the treeline. Her eyes went wide as they came clambering out of the trees towards them. There were too many to successfully fend off.
“We’re gonna have to make a run for it.” Debbie said as she grabbed her son’s hand.
Victoria nodded as she swung her machete at another walker that got dangerously close. After bringing it down, the women took off running with Emery.
Another gunshot echoed as Henry grunted. Debbie turned to look and saw that a walker had bit into her husband and she let out a painful sob. “Don’t look, Emry! Don’t look baby.”
Victoria felt a fear creep into her chest as another set of walkers came out of the trees in front of them. Biting her lip she swung on the walker, missing and striking it in the side of the legs. She thought she had incapacitated it when it wiggled around and grabbed her leg.
Emery broke free of his mother’s hands and ran to Victoria’s defense. Grabbing the walker’s good leg and pulling backwards on it to free Victoria. As she got free Emery stumbled back right into the awaiting arms of another walker.
“NO!” Debbie screamed as she ran for her son, the walker on the ground grabbing her and bringing her down. It’s horrid jaw ripping a piece of her leg out as she struggled to get to her son.
Victoria felt a cold anger shoot through her as she brought her heel down into the walker’s head that was on the ground. Moving she brought her machete around and hit the one holding Emery.
It was too late; they were both bitten.
“Go on without us.” Debbie drug herself towards her son’s body on the ground. “You need to go.” She pointed. “Alexandria will keep you two safe. It’s too late for us.” tears came down her face as she held her son. “Thank you for your kindness at the farm. You deserve to be safe, girls.”
Victoria nodded to Debbie as she took Erika’s hand, running down the path as fast as they could, until their legs could no longer run. Breathing heavily, Victoria pulled out the map that Debbie had given her. Looking down at it, then bringing her eyes up with a smile. She couldn’t believe it, the tracks that were on the map were right there in front of them. They were almost to Alexandria.
~*~
The end... no it's just the beginning. Will Victoria ever see Negan again? If she does will he remember her? Make sure you continue the journey of Victoria and Erika Hawkins in the next fanfiction titled "Against the Wind."
~*~
Thank you all for taking this journey with me and riding this fanfiction out to the semi end. You're love and support has meant a lot to me with this work of love. I hope that you all have enjoyed reading it as much as I have with writing it! Much love to you all!

Badass - “Prince” Henry Peletier
Summary: After Henry watches you practice with your sword, he realizes just how much of a badass you really are
Word Count: 809
Warnings: swearing, a kiss
Request: Could you do a henry x reader imagine, where henry is at the hilltop and is watching with Addy, Gage and rodney the Reader practice her sword and she is like really really badass??? Please???
A/N: I’m sorry this took so long, I’m trying to catch up on requests. I really hope you like it, I tried to make it as long as I could without it being too short. Feedback is appreciated!
Tumblr media
You sliced your crisp, sharp blade through the air as Henry and the other Hilltop teens watched you practice with your sword. You paid no mind to them however, completely engrossed in what you were doing.
You took pride in your sword, you were one of the few at Hilltop and any of the other communities beside Michonne that had one and knew how to use it well. The teens were in awe at your agility as you moved, unfazed by the sweltering sun beating down on you.
Bringing your sword down to your side, you turned and faced them, smiling slightly. One by one they began to walk towards you, praising you and holding out their hands for high fives. It made you happy that you had such supportive friends.
“That was badass, Y/N,” Gage said as he high fived you. “You’re getting better!”
“Thanks, Gage.”
Your stomach grumbled loudly, causing him to laugh.
“Let’s go to something to eat,” He suggested, already starting to walk away with Addy and Rodney.
“You guys go on, we’ll catch up in a minute,” You responded to Gage, eyeing Henry who was still standing next to you. Gage nodded and continued on with the others.
Now that you and Henry were alone you motioned for him to follow you. You had no particular destination in mind but you needed an excuse to talk to him. Over the past couple of days you had developed a small crush on the freckled boy and hadn’t been able to get him off of your mind.
He walked along you in silence, neither of you speaking. Every so often you would glance at each other and your mouth would spread into a wide grin, just his presence enough to make you smile.
It had been well over a minute since you parted ways with the others but you didn’t care. You weren’t really hungry after all and Henry didn’t seem to be either.
Eventually, after walking around for a few more minutes he broke the silence, “That really was badass earlier. You’re really good, Y/N.”
“Thank you,” You whispered, heat rushing to your face at his compliment and butterflies swarming in your stomach.
You had no idea why he affected you this much. It was different when Gage complimented you, he was like your brother. With Henry is was like you had no control of your actions and your mind went blank trying to figure out what you should say next.
“You’re probably just as good with a stick, if not better,” He said, eyes scanning over the blush on your cheeks as one his own face reddened.
That made you laugh, “I bet I could kick your ass with your own stick.”
Henry took that as a challenge, “Oh yeah? Well let’s see then.” He handed you his stick.
You took the stick in your hands and positioned yourself into a fighting stance. Henry stepped back as you took your first swing at him. He dodged it easily, smirking at you when you huffed in disappointment. On your second swing you managed to make contact and knocked the wind out of him.
You made sure he was ok once he regained oxygen again. He held up a hand signaling that he was fine, urging you to have another go at him. Once again you swung the stick at Henry but this time he managed to get ahold of it and snatch it out of your grip, swinging it behind you and knocking you onto the ground with a thud.
“Hey!” You groaned, “That wasn’t very nice.”
Henry laughed but before he could say anything back you swiped your legs underneath him causing him to fall on top of you. You groaned again, his elbow digging into your side. He pushed himself up a bit, both his arms on either side of you.
“That wasn’t very nice either, Y/N,” Henry said smirking down at you.
“You’re right,” You agreed, grinning up at him. “It was badass.”
“It was,” He confessed, leaning down slowly. “Is it ok if I kiss you?”
You nodded. His lips connected to yours in a gentle kiss. You pulled him closer, running your hands through his hair as his mouth ghosted over yours. You found your shared inexperience in kissing endearing and smiled brightly as you both pulled away panting slightly.
Henry stood, pulling you up after him. “So what does this mean for us?” He asked sheepishly.
“It means I kicked your ass,” You laughed. “Kidding. It means we like each other or at least I would hope.”
“We do,” Henry confirmed, taking your hand in his. Both your stomach grumbled and you both laughed again. “Lets go get something to eat now.”
Hand in hand, you both went to eat, talking and laughing along the way.

Family Portrait || Chapter 1 ||
A/N: This is by far the most self indulgent fic I have written in a long time - possibly ever - and I don’t know how often it will get updated but let me know if you like it!
This fic contains triggers that include but are not limited to - Childbirth, Death, gore, and general violence.
“I was born in a river of blood on sheets from the wedding day
The room was dark and the stench was thick, my father couldn’t stand the smell of it.
Mama died in the night cause the nearest doctor couldn’t stem the blood loss
Father cried out on the back porch”
“Family Portrait” by Radical Face
The storm outside had been raging all night, loud claps of thunder and shocks of lightning ringing through the Kingdom. This is the reason that Carol doesn’t immediately snap to attention at the sound of the booming. It’s probably just thunder. She’s rolling over, pressing herself into Ezekiel’s back to go back to sleep when the noise comes again.
Thunder doesn’t pound. Nor does it yell.
“Boss! Hey! Boss!” It’s Jerry’s voice cutting over the sound of the storm, and his fist banging on the food to the apartment.
“Is that Jerry?” Ezekiel mumbles. “What does he want at this hour?”
“He wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t important.” Carol says, pushing the covers off and feeling for her clothes in the dark. “We’d better go see what’s up.”
“I suppose.” Ezekiel groans, following her lead and getting out of bed. He fumbles with a match, lighting the lamp on the nightstand before pulling his pants on. Jerry’s continual banging grows louder and more urgent as they search for their clothes.
“You go ahead, he’s gonna wake the whole kingdom soon.” Carol says, bending over to grab her shirt out from under the bed.
“Jerry!” Ezekiel calls as he hurries from the bedroom. “We can hear you!” A moment later the banging and shouting stops and the muffled voices of the two men begin to drift down the hall. Carol slides into her pants, and is pulling her shirt over her head when a third voice joins the chorus.
“Mom?” Henry’s half asleep voice calls from the doorway. “What’s going on?”
“I don’t know yet honey.” Carol turns towards her son, moving around the bed to kiss his soft blonde hair. “We’ll find out okay? You go -”
“Carol!” Ezekiel’s panicked shouting sends a bolt of fear through here. “Carol! Come here!”
“Stay here.” Carol instructs her son, hurrying past Henry and down the hall to the living room and front door.
Jerry is standing there, soaking wet, his clothes, hair, and beard, dripping a small lake onto the hallway floor, his battle ax slung over his shoulder.
“Repeat what you just said Jerry.” Ezekiel instructs, his face drawn and grim.
“Your majesties.” Jerry starts, panting slightly. “Daryl is at the gates. He’s covered in blood an-”
“Move.” Carol demands, Shoving her husband away from the door. “Jerry, move.”
“Carol.” Ezekiel puts a hand on her arm. “Let Jerry finish.”
“Daryl’s hurt. He - he must be-”
“There’s uh - there’s one more thing.” Jerry interrupts. It must be serious if Jerry is interrupting them. “He’s got -he’s got this baby with him. I think it’s dead.”
Carol doesn’t wait to hear anything more, she forces herself past Jerry and out of the apartment. She slams into the door to the outside, pushing it open with such force that it bangs back on its hinges. The icy November rain soaks her clothes and hair immediately. She doesn’t care, she has to get to Daryl. The idea of him alone out there and covered in blood was one she’d lived in fear of for years. Ever since he’d disappeared into those woods. It was a fear that had driven her to find him and reassure herself that he was alright. She hadn’t been out in months, she’d gone so far as to tell him she wouldn’t be and look at what had happened to him. He was at her gates hurt and with a baby.
The baby - the likely dead baby - was something else altogether. Where he’d gotten it or why he had it were thoughts she didn’t dare have just yet. She’d wait until she had eyes on him before jumping to any conclusions about that.
She arrives to find the gate open and the guard - Jedidiah by the looks of it - shouting.
“Why didn’t you let him in?!” Carol demands.
“He could be dangerous, Your Majesty.” Jedidiah says.
“It’s Daryl!” She snaps. “He isn’t dangerous. Move.” She shoves him out of the way, a bolt of lightning illuminates the sky at that very moment and she can make out the ragged form of her best friend.
He’s stone-faced and silent, his poncho hangs heavily, soaked with water and stained dark, and in his arms is a tiny, unmoving bundle. A tiny arm sticks out of the wrappings and not a sound can be heard from them.
“What happened?” Carol pulls Daryl through the gate. Daryl stumbled after her, silent and stoic. “Daryl!”
“He hasn’t answered any of our questions, Your Majesty.” Jed says. “He hasn’t said anything.”
“Close the damn gate.” She snaps. Ezekiel and Jerry are hurrying towards them, an umbrella up in an attempt to stay dry. “Jerry, go get the doctor, now!”
“Right away your majesty.” Jerry hurries off.
Daryl is shaking so badly she worries she fears he’ll drop the baby. “Daryl, give that to me.” She holds her arms out, Daryl pulls the bundle closer to his chest.
“Is he okay?”” Ezekiel asks, running up still clutching the umbrella.
“No.” Carol says. “Help me get him inside.” She puts one hand on Daryl’s back and starts guiding him towards the apartment.
“Is the baby…” Ezekiel puts an arm on the other side of Daryl.
“I don’t know.” Carol says, reaching forward to shove open the doorway to the building. Henry is standing in the doorway to their apartment, clutching his stick on the defensive. “Henry, go get some of your dad’s clothes and some towels.”
“What’s wrong with him?” Henry asks, alarmed.
“Henry.” Carol snaps. “Go.” Henry finally turns and they cross the threshold into the living space. Carol lowers Daryl onto the couch and holds her arms out again. “Daryl. Give me the baby.”
Daryl growls and holds the bundle to his chest. Carol kneels in front of him and reaches up to push his sopping hair back. In the light of the living room she can finally see the state he’s in. His clothes are stained with blood, blood is caked under his fingernails, and his face is hollow and pale. His blue eyes hold a shell shocked look she’d never seen in them before.
“Hey.” She whispers. “It’s me. It’s Carol. I’m not gonna hurt him.”
“Her.” Daryl says hoarsely.
“I’m not gonna hurt her.” Carol whispers.
Without another word Daryl extends his arms and rolls the wet bundle into it. Carol hurries to unwrap the soaked wrappings - which appears to be a very worn flannel shirt. Inside the tiny baby looks even smaller. She isn’t moving and the stump of the umbilical cord is ragged, like it was cut way roughly.
God what had happened to them out there?
“Mom?” Henry says, standing in the entrance to the living room with the towels and extra clothes she’d send for.
“Give me a towel.” Carol instructs. “And then take this.”
She dries the baby carefully and swaddles it in a towel then carefully passes her off to Henry.
“Is the baby -”
“Shh.” Carol scolds. “Ezekiel, we need to get these clothes off of him.”
Her instructions seem to snap her husband out of a trance and he reaches around to pull the blood stained poncho over Daryl’s head.
“Daryl.” Carol says. “We need to get you out of these clothes. You’re going to freeze. Can we take them off?”
Daryl doesn’t say anything but allows the poncho to be pulled off and his sopping hair to fall back into his eyes. His shirt underneath is soaked and also stained with blood, but the blood is dark, not fresh. It can’t be his.
“Boss?!” Jerry’s voice calls from the otherside of the door. “I got the doc.”
“Come in.” Carol Calls, her hands shaking as she fumbles with the buttons on Daryl’s shirt.
“Carol.” Ezekiel puts a hand on hers. “You’re soaked and freezing too. Go change. Jerry and I can handle him.”
“I’m fine.” Carol insists, but her hands are shaking so violently that she can barely grip the buttons on Daryl’s shirt.
“Carol.” Ezekiel says. “Dry clothes will take one minute.”
“Fine. Get him dry.” Carol mutters, hurrying to the bedroom.
When she emerges in a fresh set of pajamas and toweling her hair Ezekiel and Jerry have Daryl’s shirt off and a towel draped around his shoulders. He’s shivering violently but doesn’t seem to be hurt. The doctor has unwrapped the baby and has her spread on the coffee table while looking over her.
“The baby’s alive Mom.” Henry says. “She’s moving.”
“She’s alive for now.” Doctor Jones corrects, her face grim. “She needs to get warm and she has to eat.”
“How old?” Ezekiel asked.
“Hours. Where’s the mother? Dead?” Dr. Jones asks.
“I - Daryl?” Carol turns to her still silent friend. “Daryl what happened.” He doesn’t speak. “Daryl!”
“It doesn’t matter.” Doctor Jones says. “This baby needs to eat or she’ll die. Mrs. Cresta is still breast feeding her little one. Until you can get something more permanent you should ask her if she’ll feed this one too.”
“What are her chances?” Carol asks.
“Well she’s full term, or close to it. If we can get her body temperature up and get her to nurse  she should be okay. But that’s not a small ask. Do you know how long they’ve been out there? Or where they came from?” Dr. Jones wraps the baby up in the towel again.
“H-he has a camp.” Carol says. “It’s maybe… four hours away from here on foot.”
“Four hours. Jesus.” The doctor says. “Look, I need to examine him next. Is he safe?”
“It’s Daryl.” Carol snaps. “He’s not dangerous.”
“Carol.” Ezekiel says. “It’s a fair question. He showed up at 2 am covered in blood with a half dead newborn.”
“He’s safe.” Carol instists, moving over to Daryl and taking his hand. “Daryl we need -”
“She’s dead.” He croaks.
“No, no she’s fine, Henry bring -”
“She’s. Dead.” He repeats. Carol knows he isn’t talking about the baby.
“Daryl.” she pleads. “Let Dr. Jones take a look at you. Please.”
Gently she guides the towel off his shoulder. He’s shaking, and his skin is ice to the touch. The tattoo’s on his chest twitch and shake as his body shivers in a still vein attempt to warm itself. His flesh is filthy from the weather and scarred from time, but he doesn’t appear to be injured. He remains still as Dr. Jones presses her stethoscope to his chest, then a finger to his pulse, and finally sits back on her heels.
“Well I’d like a full examination, but I assume that’s out of the question. His breath sounds good, his heart rate is a little fast and he needs to get out of these wet clothes. But he’s not hurt.” Dr. Jones pushes to a stand. “Get that baby fed, get him dry, and try to find out what happened. But that blood isn’t his.”
“Jerry.” Ezekiel says. “Go wake Mrs. Cresta. Tell her it’s urgent.”
“Right away boss.” Jerry nods, scurrying from the apartment once again.
“Thank you Doctor.” Ezekiel says, walking the woman out.
“You heard her.” Carol says, pulling Daryl to a stand off the couch. “We need to get him dry. Help me with his pants.”
“Carol.” Ezekiel sighs.
“What?” She snaps.
“Give the man what dignity he has left.” Ezekiel takes her hand. “Get him in the bathroom, he can change on his own.”
“He - I’ve never.-” Her voice cracks, her mind and body beginning to absorb what was happening here tonight. “I-I’ve never seen him like this. It’s really bad, Ezekiel.”
“I know.” Ezekiel says, putting his hands on her shoulders. “We’ll figure it out. Go, get him dry. Then we’ll talk.”
Carol nods and leads Daryl down the hall towards the bathroom. Ezekiel sets the clothes on the back of the toilet and leaves. Carol pulls Daryl’s pants off, they’re stained with the same dark splotches that stain his shirt and poncho. It can only be blood. His bare legs are scratched in places, but otherwise he seems unharmed. Before removing the soaked boxers she pauses.
“Daryl if you don’t change you’re going to freeze. Now do you want to do it? Or am I going to have to?” Her voice doesn’t leave room for an argument, but he doesn’t bother trying; he steps into the shower and pulls the curtains closed. A few seconds later he tosses the wet boxers out and holds out a hand. Carol hands him the dry clothes and a moment later he steps out of the shower, the haunted look still covering his face.
“What happened to you?” Carol whispers, tears welling in her eyes again.”
“She’s dead.” Daryl mutters.
“Who’s dead, Daryl?” Carol pleads. “And - and who’s baby is that?”
“‘S mine.” Daryl mutters.
“Your baby?” Carol whispers, confusion edging in next to the worry.
“Mine.” He mutters, opening the bathroom door and exiting without another word. Ezekiel appears a moment later.
“Did he say anything?” Ezekiel asks.
“Just that ‘she’ is dead, and the baby is his.” Carol sighs, dumping the dirty clothes into the tub and running the water.
“The baby is his?” Ezekiel sounds skeptical. “His his?”
“I think so.” Carol sighs.
“Then who’s ‘she’?” He frowns. “The baby?”
“The mother.” Carol sighs. “I think - years ago he mentioned there was a woman in the woods,  he never said anything else about her, but maybe she’s the mother.”
“A woman in the woods?” Ezekiel doesn’t sound anymore convinced. “He met a woman in the woods, and what, got her pregnant?”
“Ezekiel.” Carol sighs. “It’s - it might not even be true. This was… two years ago, easily. Besides, it doesn't really matter does it? He’s here. The baby is here. In the morning, I’ll -I’ll take a group out to the campsite. We’ll see if we can find a body.”
“Carol -”
“No.” Carol shakes her head. “I’m going. He - he deserves some closure and -and we need some answers and I’m the only one who knows where this camp is anyway.”
“Fine, but I’m coming.” Ezekiel crosses his arms and she knows there’s no arguing with him.
“Fine. Come on, we need to keep that baby alive.” She moves past her husband and out of the bathroom.
Jerry is back with Mrs. Cresta, the red haired woman looks mildly confused and very worried.
“What happened?” The redhead asks. “Jerry said there was a baby?”
“This baby.” Carol nods, motioning to the one her son is holding. “She’s -she’s only a few hours old. Her mother um… died in childbirth, and we don’t - the baby needs to eat. Can you feed her?”
“‘Course I can.” The woman nods. “I didn’t know someone here was pregnant, how awful.”
“It’s not -it’s not one of our people.” Carol says. “It’s a friend. We’ll be sending people to Alexandria and Hilltop in the morning - hopefully they’ll have formula but she needs to eat now.”
Carol reaches over and takes the bundle of baby from Henry and passes her gently to Mrs. Cresta. The red head unfastens the top of her nightgown and the newborn immediately perks as a few drops of milk land on her lips and quickly begins to nurse hungrily. That is a very good sign.
On the couch, Daryl is watching the baby nervously, almost desperately. Like he wants to reach out and grab her away.
“Daryl.” Carol asks softly. “What happened out there?”
“I-I can’t.” Daryl speaks finally, his voice hoarse. “I- I couldn’t - there was nothing I - She’s dead.”
“And this - this is your daughter?” Ezekiel prompts.
“Yeah.” Daryl nods. “She’s gonna be okay?”
“Dr. Jones thinks so.” Carol nods. “We’ll try to get some formula tomorrow but until then Mrs. Cresta can keep her fed.”
“She stays with me.” Daryl growls. “That baby don’ go nowhere I don’ go.”
“Daryl -”
“No.” He snaps. “She’s lost too damn much fer me t’ let her think she lost her daddy too.”
“I can stay tonight.” Mrs. Cresta says quietly. “My little one don’t eat at night no more, ‘s okay.”
“Thank you.” Carol says. “I know this is a big thing to ask.”
“No momma on this earth would let a baby starve if they could help. Don’ matter who’s baby that is.” Mrs. Cresta says.
It’s an idealistic view of the world, the sort that Carol hasn’t had in years, but Mrs. Cresta is young, and without her that baby would have no chance. Once the baby has her fill Daryl takes her back, cradling her close to his chest. Carol remembers him doing the same with Judith when she was born, but this is different, he looks so broken looking down at the tiny baby.
“Daryl,” She whispers. “How did this happen?” Daryl shakes his head. “Can you - can you tell us where to find the mother?” Daryl nods, still silent.
“Carol.” Ezekiel says, putting a hand on her shoulder. “It’s late. The mother, wherever she is, is dead. For now they need to sleep. We can talk more in the morning.”
“Okay.” Carol resigns herself to the fact that answers aren’t coming tonight. “I’m staying out here with him.”
“Alright.” Ezekiel nods. “I’ll bring some blankets.”
“Thanks.” Carol whispers, offering her husband a weak smile.
The mismatched pile of blankets that soon adorns the living room floor reminds her of the days spent in Dale’s RV, crowded together and scared. Yet as she watches Daryl rock the baby in his arms she knows things couldn’t have been more different. Whatever happened out there in the freezing rain tonight had permanently changed something in her best friend.

Friends and enemies part 7
Nabila "You must love your brother, right?"
Merle "Well, let's just say we're tense at the moment."
Jesus "Well, sometimes it can be. Especially if your brother is younger than you. Or I don't know if he is, but I assume he is."
Merle "Yeah, he's 5 years younger than me."
Jesus "That explains that thing."
Merle "Well, but we've been tense between us for a long time."
Jerry "Have you done anything to your brother?"
Merle "If you mean that I have been violent towards him, so I'm not. He's just angry about it when I have not been his support when he needed me the most."
Ezekiel "And it's because of what?"
Merle "Well, let's say that I have made wrong choices in my life and because of it I have forgotten him."
Belle "Did you use?"
Merle "I used what?"
Belle "Drugs, Did You Use Them?"
Merle "Yeah, I used and I'm not proud of that."
Belle "I can identify with your brother. My brother used drugs too."
Merle "Where is your brother now?"
Belle "He's dead."
Merle "The Walker?"
Belle "What about the walker?"
Merle "Did the walker bite him or how did he die?"
Belle "I wish It had been a walker, but no. He died of a drug overdose."
Merle "I'm sorry."
Belle "No, do not be. It was his choice."
Merle said nothing.
Belle "I'm just trying to tell you that maybe you and your brother should try to fix your situation."
Merle "I think it's too late already."
Belle "It's never too late to try."
Merle "Why try to fix what you can't fix?"
Belle "I don't know."
Merle "That's right."
In the meantime, on the other hand.
Andrea "Hey, has anyone seen Merle?"
Emily "Maybe he's still sleeping."
Andrea "He's not sleeping."
Alice "And how do you know that?"
Andrea "I went through all the tents and Merle wasn't in any of them."
Amy "He's definitely somewhere here."
That's when Jim came to them.
Morales "Good morning, Jim."
Jim "Good morning. Have any of you seen my wheelbarrows?"
Morgan's "Your Wheelbarrow?"
Jim "Yeah, my wheelbarrows. They're mysteriously lost."
Amy "How can wheelbarrows mysteriously disappear?"
Jim "I don't know, but that's what happened."
Andrea "Well, your wheelbarrows aren't the only ones that have mysteriously disappeared."
Jim "Has anything else disappered mysteriously?"
Alice "Yeah, so to speak."
Jim "Who else is missing then too?"
Emily "Merle."
Jim "Merle? He was Daryl's brother, right?"
Alice "Yep and he's gone too."
Morales "I flashed."
They looked at Morales.
Andrea "What flashed?"
Morales "What if Merle has taken those wheelbarrows and disappeared with them?"
Amy "I don't understand."
Morales "Don't you realize this combination? Lost wheelbarrows and lost Merle, it can't be a coincidence."
Emily "What the hell would Merle have done with the wheelbarrows?"
Morales "I don't know, I just said."
Rick walked over to them.
Rick "Good morning!"
Andrea "Good morning."
Rick looked at Jim.
Rick "Is everything all right?"
Jim "Yeah everything's fine, except that my wheelbarrows are gone."
Rick "That is not a big deal."
Andrea "It's kind of is."
Rick "What do you mean?"
Andrea "Well, Merle is gone, too."
Rick "Merle is missing?"
Amy "Yeah, it looks like."
Rick "And you thought Merle had take wheelbarrows along, right?"
Morales "It could be possible. I mean, lost wheelbarrows and lost Merle, can't be a coincidence."
Rick "But what the hell would Merle do with wheelbarrows?"
Andrea "That's what we'd like to know, too."
Rick "Have you asked Daryl?"
Jim "Not yet."
Rick "Maybe we should."
That’s when Daryl and Carol walked over to them.
Daryl "You should ask me what?"
Rick "Well, that Merle is gone and so are Jim's wheelbarrows."
Carol "Is that so?"
Rick "Unfortunately."
Daryl "Well, I have no idea about that."
Rick "So you don't know anything about it?"
Daryl "Isn't it obvious I don't know."
Jim "That's weird."
Daryl "What's so weird about this?"
Jim "Well, you're his brother, so shouldn't you know?"
Daryl "I might be his brother, but I'm not his damn babysitter!"
Shane "And some asshole has been drinking my beers!"
Rick turned to look at Shane.
Rick "Maybe you drank them yourself, but you don't remember it."
Shane "I haven't touched them, but someone else apparently is."
Rick "We have a worse problem than your lost beers."
Shane "And what problem could be worse than my beers?"
Rick "Well, the fact that Merle is gone and so are Jim's wheelbarrows."
Shane started laughing.
Rick "Shane, this is not funny."
Shane "You know how ridiculous that sounded? Lost wheelbarrows, don't bother."
Rick "It's not ridiculous if Merle is missing."
Shane "Well, maybe that wasn't, but it was ridiculous when you said that Jim's wheelbarrows are also gone."
Morales "Don't you realize Shane?"
Shane "Realize what?"
Morales "Lost wheelbarrows and lost Merle, can't be a coincidence."
Shane "But why the hell would Merle take the damn wheelbarrows with him? I don't realize that."
Amy "None of us realize that."
Morgan "Maybe we should go looking for Merle."
Jim "Hey, what about my wheelbarrow?"
Morgan "Also them."
Rick "We can't go looking for Merle or wheelbarrows now."
Morgan "And why not?"
Rick "Because I promised Maggie that we would be in their community today."
Anna "We're not going to stay there, are we?"
Rick "Unfortunately, we'll stay there."
Anna "Well, you can count me out. I'm not coming."
Rick "You can't be serious."
Anna "I Am."
Daryl "You can count me out, too."
Rick looked at Daryl.
Daryl "I don't trust them."
Rick "It's not about you or whether you trust them. It's about survival."
Daryl "You can still count me out."
Carol "Daryl!"
Daryl "Someone has to stay here if Merle comes back."
Carol "Well, if you stay, I'll stay too."
Daryl "You don't have to."
Carol "Well, like it or not, I'm going to stay."
Rick "All right. Let's do this Anna, Daryl, Carol and Jessica stay here and the rest of us go there. And if Merle comes back, you'll come there afterwards."
Jessica "Sounds like a good idea."
Then Rick looked at the others.
Rick "Let's go."
Rick looked at Daryl.
Rick "Take care of others."
Daryl "You can count on me."
Then the others went for a walk towards the forest.
Jessica "So, now we're just waiting, right?"
Carol "I think so."
Give "I hope Merle is okay."
Daryl "He always is."
Jessica "You didn't look worried when Rick said Merle is gone."
Daryl "I'm used to it."
Anna "Has he done these before?"
Daryl "Did what?"
Anna "Gone and lost somewhere and hasn't said a word?"
Daryl "Yeah, many times."
Jessica "I guess our siblings relationship is tense, huh?"
Daryl "Aren't the intervals between all the siblings sometimes tense?"
Jessica "I do not know about that. Because I'm an only child."
Daryl looked at Anna.
Anna "Yeah, sometimes my relationship with Rick is tense, but he's my brother and I still love him."
Daryl "I wish I could say the same."
Anna "So your sibling relationship isn't okay, I guess?"
Daryl "It's worse than okay."
Jessica "Do you want to talk about it?"
Daryl "Not now."
Jessica "Okay."
Daryl looked at Carol.
Daryl "You shouldn't have stayed."
Carol "I know, I still stayed."
Daryl "That you can admire my ass again, huh?"
Carol "Stop that."
Daryl "Admit it."
Carol "I don't admit anything."
Daryl "Admit it now."
Carol "No, I don't admit it."
Daryl "All right then. If you're playing a dirty game, then i let you know that I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty."
Carol "I see what game you're trying to play with me and it's not going to work out."
Daryl "You'll see that it works."
Carol "You and your big mouth."
In the meantime, on the other hand.
Jerry "Is your brother nice?"
Merle "Yeah, he is. We are opposites of each other."
Henry "Oh like Jing and Jang?"
Merle "In a way."
Siddiq "Do you still have a hangover?"
Merle "A little yeah."
Siddiq "When we get to camp then I will give you a nausea tablet and also a headache tablet. I am sure that you need them. "
Merle "I'd rather take something stronger."
Jerry "Like whiskey?"
Merle "Yeah, I'd rather have it than some silly tablet."
Ezekiel "You can't drink alcohol all the time. It's not good for you."
Merle "Well, I can and I will. And you can't do anything about it."
Ezekiel "Now I understand why your brother doesn't like you."
Merle said nothing.
Ezekiel "We're there."
Then they went inside the community.
Merle "I thought you only have a small camp and not the whole damn community."
Ezekiel "Why have a small camp when you can have a whole community?"
Merle stared at the buildings around him.
Merle "I could stay living here forever, really."
Ezekiel "Why don't you stay? Nothing stops you, does it?"
Merle "I'll see how things go."
Ezekiel "I understand, yes."
Merle "Did you build these buildings or were they here when you came here?"
Ezekiel "Half were and we repaired them and half we built."
Merle "Sounds awesome."
Victoria "We also have a small pub here."
Merle "That sounded tempting, but I don't think I can drink anything today. Maybe tomorrow."
Siddiq "I'll get you now a headache tablet and a nausea tablet. Wait for it, I'll be back soon."
Then Siddiq went for a walk towards the hospital building.
Merle "He's a doctor here, I guess?"
Ezekiel "Yeah, Siddiq is and he's also an excellent doctor."
Merle "Surely he is."
to be continued...

Teasing The Archer
Request: “Anything I mean really ANYTHING with jealous Daryl will make me beyond happy 🥺👉🏻👈🏻 even the tiniest snippet ♥️♥️♥️”
Prompt: Daryl can’t help but be jealous when someone is blatantly flirting with his girl
Warnings: None
Tumblr media
"C’mon Y/N, please!” Henry begged as he followed you down the street. Daryl was approaching you, a grin on his face as he watched the young boy beg for you to get Daryl to teach him how to use his crossbow.
You sighed and shook your head playfully at the teenager.
“You gotta ask him yourself, Henry.” You reply.
“But he’s intimidating.” Henry all but whines. “Please? You’re so nice and kind and sweet... He’ll listen to you!” He begs. You bite your lip to keep from laughing at his attempts to persuade you.
“Are you flirting with me or asking for my help, Henry?” You ask, spotting Daryl approaching from behind the kid.
“Uhhh.... Both? Whatever gets you to say yes.” He grins.
“Ohh, yer flirtin with my girl, huh?” Daryl pats Henry’s back, scaring the crap out of him. His face gets beat red and he stammers over his words.
“Oh, uh, no! I, um, no...” He trails off. You can’t help the laugh that escapes and Daryl pretends to be angry with Henry.
“Nah, ya are. Now ya gotta fight me.” He jokes. Henry can clearly see that Daryl’s not serious but he still takes a step away and looks nervous.
“Aww poor Henry! You’re scaring him!” You tease, walking over and hugging the teenager into your chest, pretending to be protective. The sight, despite playful and not serious - makes a small twinge of jealousy appear in Daryl’s chest.
“Ight that’s it, ima kick yer ass now.” Daryl theatens, scooping you away from Henry by the waist and pulling you into him, pretending to put you in a headlock. You giggle uncontrollably and Henry finally lightens up, laughing along too.
When Daryl lets you go, he looks over at Henry. “If ya want me to teach ya, ya just gotta ask yer mom.” He shrugs.
“Really? Oh thank you so much!” Henry exclaims, running off in search of Carol. You chuckle and wrap your arms around Daryl’s waist, looking up at him affectionately.
“Ya better not leave me for a teenager.” He grumbles with a smirk on his face.
“I dunno...” You tease, pulling away again. Daryl glares at you and then you take off running, him close behind. “Ahhh. Jealous Daryl is scary!” You shout over your shoulder, teasing the archer, whose face turns slightly pink. God, you loved him...

White-Out - TWD Rewrite Chapter Ten
[TWD FANFICTION-MASTERLIST]
Previous chapter / Next Chapter
Summary: It wasn’t perfect but things were settling down, from Anna’s point of view at least. The whisperers were still out there but she wasn’t affected by their actions as she stayed within Alexandria’s walls the whole time. She lived her own lot of difficulties without ever stepping out and it was enough for her right now. She wasn’t ready to experience first hand what was happening on the outside.
Words: 3.7k
Warnings: Season 9 spoilers (episode 14 and 16 specifically), SA flashback (not graphic i couldn’t have written this kinda thing in details wtf), mention of old scars, angst, ANGST, hypothermia, no violence someone just twisted their ankle at some point lmao, memories of negan as a hella protective dad, heart-to-heart talk, little fluff
As Anna walked through the camp, she noticed two new faces in the distance. She narrowed her eyes, staring at them, wondering who they were. They were two young teenagers seated on the steps of a house, that much she was sure of but who they were, no idea. She saw Laura, one of the former Saviors, standing near the two of them. Although she didn’t like her very much, which was obviously reciprocated, she eventually approached the blond tattooed woman in order to ask them about the two newcomers.
“Laura.” She turned her head to Anna and was clearly not expecting her to come to her to talk. The teenagers glanced at the two blond women curiously.
“Anna,” A slight smile raised the corner of her lips. “this is for sure the first time you talk to me willingly.”
“Guess some things change after all.” Anna crossed her arms. “Who are they ?”
“Daryl brought them. He’s, Henry, the son of the Kingdom’s leaders and–”
“Carol and uh, Ezekiel ?” Laura nodded before pursuing.
“And the girl is from an enemy group.”
“Looks like history is repeating itself. Guess some things don't change.” Anna joked. She gave a look at Laura and turning around, she saw Michonne walking over to the teenagers.
“Henry, I need to speak to Lydia.” So, Lydia was it. “Alone.”
“It’s okay. You stay.” Lydia stood up, ready to leave with Michonne but he got on his feet in turn, disagreeing. Curious, Anna stayed nearby and observed the scene, not expecting to get anything really interesting from it.
“No, really, I’ll go.” He looked down at his left leg. A hole in the fabric of his jeans revealed a bunch of stitches on his skin. It would surely leave a scar, but nothing as bad as what Anna had to live with so he would be fine. “I got to move around and make sure these stitches hold anyways.”
Anna turned around, giving a goodbye glance to Laura when she walked away, accompanying Henry to wherever he was going. Anna sped up to walk past them and leave as well but Henry’s voice rose from behind her and she heard him calling out to her.
“Eh, and you, who are you ?” She turned around, walking backwards, a good ten feet away from of them. A wry smile appeared on her face.
“Does Saviors ring any bell ?” Given the way he stared at her, she assumed he had perfectly understood what she was talking about. She bowed dramatically. “Anna, Negan’s daughter.”
Tumblr media
Everyone, or almost everyone, had left Alexandria as today there was a fair organized in the Kingdom settlement. Michonne had asked Anna if she wanted to join them but she had politely declined the invitation. She would feel lonely there because she didn’t know many people and she wasn’t what you call a social butterfly or whatever so, she would rather stay here, and loneliness wasn’t a feeling she wanted to deal with right now. She even asked Michonne if she was allowed to go see her dad instead. It was the first time she had asked her in years, she had never asked for permission before. She said yes and left, so as the day passed, Anna decided to go down there see him at some point. It was early in the afternoon and it was chilly in the basement but not too cold for her. She sat down against the wall in front of the cell’s door.
“You didn’t go with ‘em ?” He asked, looking at her as he closed the book he was reading when she entered.
“Nope. I don’t know anyone there and, well, you know I don’t like things like fairs and stuff.”
“Yes. I sure as hell know.” He nodded. “You used to told me you didn’t want to see anyone from your school, ‘cause they were all little morons but now, they’re not your classmates so, why aren’t you going ?”
“Because, most of them are morons as well.” She retorted. “I don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb. Some haven’t seen me in a long time, and still have the image of the horrible Negan's daughter, so to speak, imprinted in their fucking mind.” He sighed heavily before changing the topic of the conversation.
“So uh, didn’t you tell me about an Alden, or something like that, once ?” Anna stared at him, in surprise. She had indeed told him about Alden but years ago at least.
“You remember ?”
“Sure I remember. What do you think I do when you’re talkin’ to me ? I listen, very carefully. Try not to miss anything you say so you don’t feel like talkin’ to a damn wall.”
“But, I told you about Alden when we we’re still at the Sanctuary. I probably even only told you once at the most. I mostly told–” He cut her off.
“Dwight. I know. I was a shitty father and you had to find someone else to do what should have been my job. I’m sorry.” She giggled nervously.
“The last time I heard you apologize for something was… well, way before the Sanctuary.” Anna swallowed, tensing her clenched fists remembering why he apologized. Something she though she had wiped out of her memory but it was still there and she just triggered it but it was so long ago and thinking of it now, it felt like someone else had been through that. Back when they were on the road, just the two of them, befroe they found refuge at the Sanctuary, they had crossed path with a group of not very clear guys. They followed them and when they stopped, they jumped on the occasion and while they fought with her dad, one of them had grabbed her and pinned her to the ground. She struggled and screamed. When he tried to get closer to touch her, she bit her ear and ripped it off with her teeth. She had drops of blood on her face but he was in a worse state. In shock, she had crawled against a wall, curling up in silence, staring at her feet with wide eyes. This was when her father came to her, wiped the blood on her face and took her in his arms. He had killed all of them. She had tried to glance at the massacre over his shoulder but he kept her from looking so as not to let her get traumatized any further. She could hear the sound of her cries muffled in his chest. Anna stared at him through the cell bars and he breathed out, worry in his eyes, remembering this day too.
“It’s been a long time since we had a conversation like this.” He stated. “Thanks for visiting your old man. You don’t have to spend all day here though, there’s nothin’ down here.”
“There is you.” She said before eventually getting on her feet. “Do you want me to come back later.”
“If you want.”
“ ‘Kay.” Anna nodded and turned to the door but didn't walk out right away. “Even when it was Dwight that took care of me, I think you already know that but, it was still you and me. It was you and me since mom died. I’ve survived with you, thanks to you. When I ran away, when Rick and Carl rescued me, all I could think about was coming back home. You’re my home.”
“Anna.” He stared at her as he stood up and approached the cell grid, resting his fingers between the bars. She walked closer, standing less than a few inches from him. “I always tried to make sure you were strong, that you had a place to live, because I didn't want shit to happen to you. Despite that, I was wrong all along and you felt the need to leave. When I learned you'd left, I totally freaked out at the idea of something happening to you…”
“But I survived through it.” She breathed out, thinking about the scratches and bites scars she had on her.
“Yep. You did. But you were bit and almost died of hunger. You proved you were strong the hard way and luckily you can tell the virus to fuck off ‘cause, if you were dead… I don’t know what I would have done. I won’t abandon you, and I know what you must think, yes, Judith reminds me of you when you were her age. That’s one of the reasons I get attached to her, but you are my only daughter.” A tear rolled down her cheek and she got even closer to the grid. He slipped his hand through th bar to put it in the back of her head and plced a soft kiss on her forehead.
Tumblr media
Winter was already there. And a storm was inevitably coming over them, threatening the peace they had maitained for some time. The survivors of Alexandria had taken refuge in three houses that had the biggest fireplaces, to keep warm as many people as possible. Of course, Anna was in the same house as her father and Judith. Her father had been restrained to a bed with chains and everyone was keeping an eye on him. For some reason, he thought it would be a good idea to be sarcastic and loud.
“I swear to God, I have memorized every square inch of this room.” An amused smiled rose on his face and he laughed a little. “And it still feels like a party.”
“A never-ending party from hell.” Rosita retorted in a weary tone, as she checked the hold of his restrain to the bed. He had the chain in his hand for some reason.
“I mean, sure, all right. It smells like a goddamn barn in here, all bored shitless, but–”
“Language !” Judith cut him off from the window while she gazed outside, lifting the curtain with her small hand. Anna, who was leaning against the wall by the bed, giggled lightly as she waved her hand at Judith not to stay too close to the window and come over to the fire to keep herself warm. She stepped back slightly letting go of the curtain which fell back on the glass of the window, but didn't move.
“Sorry. Sorry, kiddo.” He replied. “But, I mean, we’ve got ourselves this hot little love quadrangle here to entertain us. It’s like Chritsmas to me.”
“Well, maybe they’re just as miserable at Aaron’s or Barbara’s…” Siddicq said, ignoring Negan. Rosita nodded, arms crossed. Anna listened to her father ranting his bullshit, to piss off the three survivors by the fireplace. She found the show quite funny and comical to be honest. A real reality show of the apocalypse.
“Gabe, your girl’s doc is also your girl’s baby daddy, which kind of begs the question… do you ever wonder what the hell was going on in there when she had her “appointments” ?” Anna sighed in disbelief upo hearing how bad he was trying to start some shit with the sole reason that he wanted to keep himself entertained. Gabriel turned to him and took a few steps towards him.
“You could try to be a little less predictable.”
“Ahh. That hurts, Gabe, truly.”
“You know, we’re all grown-ups here. And none of us would ever let that ruin the longstanding friendship and mutual respect we have.” The former priest explained, thoughtfully.
“You know what ? You’re right.”Anna frowned slightly, she could feel he wasn’t going to let that one go so easily. “That is a very mature attitude, Father “Not The Father”.”
“Oh, god.” Anna mumbled, fighting the laugh that urged to escape. He was impossible.
“Ha !” Her father laughed loudly. “Is that unpredictable for you ? He burst out laughing and Anna  restrained herself from doing the same as she continued to listen. Eventually Siddiq called out to Judith, who had started to watch through the window again. Anna adjusted her beanie on her golden hair gathered in a low ponytail. “Hey, kiddo,” Negan called out to Judith as she walked by him.. “you still worried about that mutt ?”
“Daryl told me to take care of him while he helped the Kingdom move to Hilltop.” Sh said softly. “I don’t where he is.”
“Does anybody else smell something ?” He asked after a brief silence, turning his head around, smelling the air with concern.
“Can you stop being such an asshole ?” Siddicq spoke up, annoyed by him.
“No, really, something’s wrong.” Anna assured.
“It’s a family thing or–”
“No, they’re right.” Rosita said, cutting off Siddicq. “Something does smell funky in here.”
“Get away from there.” Eugene suddenly stood up and rushed at Siddicq and Gabriel, who were bent over the fireplace and he pushed them away. A rumble crawled down the chimney and the moment he pushed them, the fire bursted and a huge flame went out, exploding. Anna covered her face and lost balance, falling on the floor. She felt her father take her by the shoulders, leaning over her, so that they had their backs to the hearth of the fireplace. A few minutes later, they stood up while Eugene peeked into the vent of the chimney with his flashlight.
“As I suspected. The chimney flue is completely gunkified. What siged your nostrils earlier was no doubt a toxic mixture of creosote and H2O.” He crouched down and got out of the chimney, turning to the others. “Blizzard’s done some tearing and blaring. And our chimney’s ventilation capabilities are nil to none. It’d be unwise to spark up another blaze uless we plan on ceasing all respiratory functions, a.k.a smoking and choking.”
“God, I missed you, Eugene.”
“I can’t say the same.” He retorted, shivering. Standing next to her father, Anna waited for something to happen. She looked at Gabriel, Rosita and Siddiq, in the center of the room as they discussed the situation. Gabriel then turned around, addressing everyone in the room.
“Okay, folks, contingency plan. We’re going to Aaron’s house. It’ll be tight quarters but we’ll make it work.” They gathered at the front of the room, near the door, to get ready. Anna had not moved an inch from where she was and neither had her father since he was still attached  with a chain.
“Seriously ?” He was indignant, pointing to the chain. “Not one of you assholes is gonna utie me ?”
“We could tell Michonne it was an accident.” Rosita taunted. They finally untied him and everyone slowly but surely getting into single file in front of the door, holding a rope so that no one could get lost in the blizzard. Eugene went to open the door and the wind howled loudly. Anna was right behind Judith, and her father a little more behind. With Gabriel in the lead, they then walked outside, the sole of their shoes burying themselves in the snow with each step. The wind was howling and blowing violently around them and Anna kept pulling her scarf up over her face to protect it from the freezing cold. Suddenly the barking of a dog in the distance reached their ears and Judith turned her head in that direction.
“Dog ! Wait !” Judith yelled, getting rid of the huge scarf wrapped around her shoulders and running away. “Dog, no !”
“Judith !” Anna called out to her and started after her immediately. She couldn't let her go out into the cold alone, even if that put each of them in as much danger. Some called to the little girl from afar and Anna almost instantly heard her father's voice piercing through the deafening blast of the blizzard.
“Jude ! Anna !” It also took her little time to lose all her bearings and no longer know where she was in Alexandria. Anna was shouting Judith's name out loud, but when she heard her father screaming, she felt awfully far away from them. She looked around her, trying not to panic. As she stepped back, her foot slipped on a patch of ice and sent her back slamming onto the ground. Her head slammed into the snow and she snapped her eyes shut, grimacing. She straightened up and put a first foot away from the patch of ice, but when she stood on her two legs, the right one gave way and made her cry out in pain. She grunted, trying to sit back up. She had twisted her ankle when she fell. She stretched out her arm to grab something to help her stand but she couldn’t focus and found nothing anyways. She tried to get up again, putting as little pressure as possible on her right leg but her feet immediately sank into the snow with each step and she fell face first on the powder snow. She persisted, rising and falling again, crying from the pain and even crawling in the snow sometimes. She walked blindly through the storm and turned in circles, not knowing where she was going anymore. Anna could just hear the blast of the blizzard whistling in her ears and, although she had closed her jacket, she felt the cold freezing her to the core. She had fallen in the snow so much that her clothes were wet from it and she was shaking uncontrollably. Sometimes she heard Judith's name or hers being shouted but she no longer had any notion of distance and was numbed by the cold. She no longer felt her feet or her legs or the rest of her body. She no longer felt pain in her ankle either.
“I need to keep going… I—I must… I mustn’t… mustn’t close my eyes, or… or I’ll freeze to death.” She was pushing her body to its limits. Eventually, her body gave way and she let herself fell in the snow, out of strength. She couldn't hold on anymore. She just hoped they had found Judith. After a while lying in the snow blanket, she felt someone wrap her with a jacket, a coat or whatever and carry her in their arms.
“Eh, eh, Anna, open your eyes. I’m here. Stay awake. Don’t fall asleep, you hear me ?” She heard her father's voice speaking to her, but she felt like it was just a dream. She had been drained with all her might. He lifted her head with his hand, holding her against him. She hurt all over but that was nothing compared to how cold she was feeling. There was a hint of panic in his voice. Anna wanted to be able to say something, to reassure him, but she couldn't speak, it hurt her throat. “Come on, I beg you, open your eyes…”
“I– I’m cold…” She articulated, wincing. His voice was weak. She felt him hug her tighter. She managed to open her eyes slightly as he started walking through the snow and looked at her face. He was staring straight ahead with determination and she could see his jaw clenching. Due to the cold and hypothermia, she did not last very long and lost consciousness. The next day, she opened her eyes and lifting her head slightly, realized that she was in the Alexandria infirmary, under several layers of blankets. She felt all her muscles contract when she wanted to straighten up. The memory of her father, who begged her to be alive, came back to her. When she got her legs out of bed, she saw an elastic band holding her ankle to a sort of plank to keep her straight. Siddicq entered the room the moment she was about to try and get up.
“Oh, no, no, no,” He rushed over to her. “Don’t move. You need to let your ankle rest. Your whole body need to rest, actually.”
“I’m fine.” She grumbled.
“You had a bout of hypothermia and passed out all night long. You've only been really warm for less than a couple hours.” He gently removed the IV and unhooked the plastic bag from the metal perch next to the bed where I was. She frowned when she saw him, she hadn't even noticed that she was hanging on to an IV. To be honest, she had her head a bit elsewhere. She put on her leather jacket and immediately zipped it up, putting a scarf around her neck and putting her beanie on her head. They were dry and it was a pleasure not having her clothes all wet from the snow. “Take this, you really have to avoid leaning on it, otherwise it will never heal. As soon as you can, sit down. It should heal within a month or so if you're careful.”
“Okay. Thanks, Siddicq.” She stood up, taking the walking stick he handed her to use it as a kind of crutch. “Uh, my dad, he–”
“He is in the room I tended to his wound seven years ago. Go, but be careful with the stairs.” Anna nodded, thanking him again on her way out. She went outside and headed towards the house where the room mentioned earlier by Siddiq was. Her ankle handicapped her a lot and slowed her walking pace but she had no choice. She walked up the front steps and walked in and met Michonne on the way. She looked at the stick she was leaning on and then her ankle as she walked down the stairs she intended to climb.
“Are you feeling better ? Siddicq told me what happened last night.”
“Yeah, well, couldn’t be better…” She joked before looking up at the woman. “Can I go see him ?” Michonne nodded before leaving the house. Anna slowly climbed the stairs one by one with the walking stick as a support. Once upstairs, she stopped to catch her breath and then headed for the room where her father was. It was the same as seven years ago and it reminded her of that moment... The moment Rick had slit her father's throat.

It was an ordinary day in Hilltop. The community was up and active, busy completing their daily chores. You made your way around the lively community, scoping out the locals of Hilltop in search of an unfamiliar face.
Yesterday, it had been brought to your attention that there was a new member joining the community. You briefly recalled his name to be Henry and that he was the son of Carol, an old friend of your brother Jesus and Tara, the leaders of Hilltop.
Scanning your eyes over the crowd of people at work, you spotted a boy you didn’t recognize. He had a head full of blond hair and freckles littered across his cheeks. He looked like no boy you had ever seen before and he took your breath away. There was no doubt that this was Henry. You froze in place as his gaze locked onto yours. A smile tugged at the corner of his lips and he sent a small wave in your direction.
Snapping out of your trance like state, your feet begin to move on their own accord. As the distance between you and Henry decreased, you grew more nervous. Your heart was beating erratically and you had no idea why seeing him caused such a reaction out of you.
“Hi, Henry right?” You greeted him, only a couple feet separating you both.
“Y-yeah, thats me,” He stumbled over his words. “What’s your name?”
“My names Y/N.”
“Nice to meet you,” Henry told you, the smile on his face from earlier much brighter now.
“Likewise,” You agreed. “So wha-”
Before you could say anything else you were cut off by a voice calling your name.
You spun around to see Jesus steadily approaching you and Henry.
He acknowledged Henry with a nod and then turned his attention back to you.
“Is something wrong?” You questioned Jesus.
“I need your help with something. Meet me at Barrington House,” Was all he said in response and walked off.
You hated how vague he was at times but decided not to pry as he was already too far away.
Henry stood next to you in confusion, ”Who is that?”
“That’s my brother, Jesus,” You sighed, disappointed that he cut your conversation with Henry short. “Anyway, I better get going. Catch you around.”
“Yeah, ok,” Henry mumbled. You sent him a small smile and left to go find Jesus.
At Barrington House you found Jesus sitting on the steps waiting for you. He scrambled to his feet when he saw you coming and entered the massive place you called home. You followed him up the stairs into his office, taking a seat in one of the armchairs.
“What are we doing? I thought you needed help.” You asked, glaring at your big brother for wasting your time for nothing.
Jesus looked at you in curiosity, “Do you like him? Henry?”
Your eyes widened the size of saucers. Why was he asking you this? You didn’t believe in that ‘love at first sight’ bull that you read about in fairy tales when you were younger but you couldn’t deny that you felt something for him the moment he caught your eyes. Of course you would never tell Jesus that.
“What?” You screeched. “I don’t know...Maybe. I just met him.”
“Good,” Jesus stood. “He’s a good kid, I can tell. And I like him much more than that Rodney kid you used to hang around.”
You shuddered, “Don’t remind me.”
“If he hurts you, I’ll hurt him,” Jesus threatened.
“Sure,” You laughed at him, resulting in a scowl.
“I’m serious, Y/N!”
The next day you ran into Henry training with his stick. Your presence went unnoticed as he moved swiftly, slicing the dangerous weapon through the air. His breathing was heavy and small grunts released from his lips. He swung around, pointing his stick in your direction and froze in place as he became aware of your presence.
You waved at him and he brought his stick to his side, combing back his hair with his other hand. Henry smiled at you and nodded, too out of breath to speak just yet.
Once his racing heart calmed down and he could breathe normally again he spoke, “Hey, Y/N.”
“Hi, Henry. Sorry about yesterday, we didn’t really get the chance to talk much.”
“It’s fine, we can talk now if you wan’t,” Henry took a seat on the ground and motioned for you to do the same.
You threw yourself down next to him, lying back on the grass. It was quiet out, still early in the morning so not everybody was up and about. You liked the silence, it gave you a clear head space to think about what to say next. After thinking hard, you finally knew what to say but what came out was completely different.
“My brother said he’d hurt you if you hurt me,” You blurted, sitting up and giving Henry a concerned look.
“What?” He laughed. “Why would I hurt you? I’m not gonna hurt you.”
“I know. Jesus thinks I like you and has got it in his head that your gonna break my heart somehow,” You told Henry honestly, stifling a giggle. “I mean, we barely even know each other. How could you break my heart?”
Henry shakes his head, “We could. Get to know each other, I mean.”
“Oh yeah? So you can actually break my heart?” You joked.
“Of course not. I really want to know you,” Henry grabbed your hand, scooting closer to you.
Blood rushed to your face, heating your cheeks. Henry’s free hand brushed over your face, sending a jolt of electricity throughout your entire body.
“Me too,” You confessed, watching as his brown eyes and smile brighten at your words.
“Good.”
Henry closed the space between you, brushing his lips against yours. You kissed him back gently, hands combing through his messy hair.
Henry pulled away and softly whispered in your ear, “Promise not to break my heart either.”
“I promise.”
