My solution to absolutely everything that troubles me late at night is to yell to the rooftops about whatever has my interest, be it yapping off in my brain or reaching out to my bros. But tonight I decided âhere we go Iâm giving up my wack ass AU to Tumblrâ as my coping skill.
Itâs an age swap au mostly centered around DazAtsu (this is your cue to leave if your not here for that) and the 18 Dazai navigating through grief and life in the agency, along side his strange growing feelings towards Atsushi that he just canât seem to name. the way I see it is that since him and Atsushi have swapped ages, itâs either his past would have taken place much earlier or he would have just skipped the years in hiding and gone straight to the other side like Oda had wished of him.
Iâve actually had two fanfictions written for it so far that have almost NOTHING to do with adjusting to his life because of inconsistency but I will still post the first one as well as the second one hoping I didnât just copy paste the same exact link twice. Funny story I actually came up with this thanks to taking part in the 2023 DazAtsu week over on twitter before I deleted the app and account, it came with a art piece Iâve featured previously on here, those are (kind of) their designs but those arenât the updated ones. God now that Iâm thinking about it Iâve been cooking this up for MONTHS and havenât said or done much of anything on it publicly.
Actually while Iâm on my tangent here is the doodles, showcasing them mostly
The next one is an unfinished piece I made for them
I leave a lot of things unfinished in terms of both art and writing. But, without further adeiu hereâs some little facts I managed to keep bouncing in my pinball machine of a brain:
⢠Dazai had been in contact with Ranpo after Odaâs death and received an offer to become a detective. While waiting by the iconic river for who he thought was Ranpo intrusive thoughts struck him and he jumped into the water. Atsushi fished him out and gave him his coat.
⢠heâs been stealing that damn huge coat any chance he gets ever since
⢠Dazai had one of Odaâs shirts, it became a source of comfort after his friendâs death to the point he just hardly took it off.
⢠Atsushiâs attire, though hardly professional is actually acceptable considering what his ability does to clothes.
⢠Yosano, Dazai, and Kyouka all share a close somewhat familial bond over their dealings with the port mafia and Mori. Yosano also has a spare key to Dazaiâs dorm incase he relapses.
⢠Dazai still cannot cook for shit no matter how people try to teach him, not even his mentor crush Atsushi is successful in doing so.
⢠Dazai always feels intimidated by Fukuzawa, and tries his hardest to avoid eye contact with him afraid heâll disrespect him.
⢠the dynamics of skk and sskk are mostly unchanged other than sskk being both wiser between themselves, and skk being two feral little shits that need to be put in cages.
not sure if I mentioned Chuuya and Akutagawa being swapped like Dazai and Atsushi. Oops.
Look at that you got to the end, feels good? Bad? Well you got here anyways. I quite enjoyed rambling to the walls of my enclosure hoping to be given a piece of cheese, I actually forgot about my stresses for a moment whilst i ran to go grab my sketches. âTwas nice, happy holidays you crazy people who decided to read this post.

Summary: Sam and Liza are friends from college, Liza invites Sam to a graduation party and he stands her up. They lose connection and havenât seen each other in 4 years. Liza doesnât know why san fell off the face of the earth h but sheâs happy to reconnect.
Chapter 1:
*Flashback to 2005*
Lizaâs pov
2005 was my year, I was finally finishing my bachelors degree in History after many hours of cramming for exams and forgetting to eat. it was finally all worth it. I poured my blood sweat and soul into this degree. I'm pretty damn proud of myself. I only have a few more months left to finish studying and I'll be free.
Student life has been exhausting. Whoever told me it would be the best years of my life are absolutely full of it.
As I'm in the library staring at the few words I scribbled out in my notebook for the essay I'm supposed to be writing, I see a familiar flash of messy chestnut hair rush past me. I set my pen down and rotate my body to get a better view of the guy with the hair of course itâs Sam. Sam and I weren't very close to say the least we didnât know each other very well at all we had a few mutual friends at school that caused us to cross paths pretty often. We met in the fall 4 years ago. My friends knew Sam's friends. He's been at most events I attend so he's comforted me in a weird i-donât-know-you way. I've always been good at reading people, from strangers to friends I had a bad feeling about. Sam tries to act polished and put together but I can tell there's something in his life causing him to hide his true self. Heâs always a storm of chaos flying through the halls in a rush darting from side to side. Heâs always in a wrinkled collared shirt strung over his body, never tucked in his pants neatly like our peers. I just know there's something in him heâs ashamed of. âHey Sam!â I shout down the library aisle at the lanky boy that's scurrying off somewhere probably late for something important. He turned his body to face me stopping dead in his tracks, there was a smear of sweat over his forehead causing him to swipe his hand over it wiping it away. He looked like a mess of lost time and stress, his face twisted up in a look of confusion as to why iâm calling him over.
âAre you going to Ethan's graduation party in two weeks? â I asked him to cross my legs over each other resting my cheek in the palm of my hand. He cocked an eyebrow up at me âi donât think i was invitedâ he shrugged about to turn away seemingly to dart off for whatever reason. âThat's okay you can be my plus one. See you then Sam "I smile as I wave him off. He offers me a curt nod and shy goofy grin. Ethan is our mutual friend, he's friends with Samâs girlfriend Jessica. That's why I thought it was odd he wasn't invited or maybe he just didn't want to make small talk with me there. I finish my last couple of sentences before I pack it up and stuff my book in my backpack, the interaction still lingering on my brain.
*2 weeks after the initial interaction*
My brain shocks me back to reality as I remember the conversation I had with Sam two weeks prior. Twas the night of Ethan's big graduation party. Ethan explained that he likes to throw his party before graduation so we could finish studying and give us a bit of relief before the big exam comes up which is much appreciated. After letting my mind wander back to Sam for a short moment I realize it's already 5pm and the party starts at 7pm. After lots of deliberation I decide to hop in the shower to scrub the grime of the day off my body. I run myself a steamy shower and glide in letting the warmth engulf my cold body. I dip my head under the stream making sure my hair gets evenly coated with the hot water before I begin my normal shower routine. After my relaxing shower I wrap my favorite pink fluffy towel around my body tucking in the loose end under my armpit making my way back to my room. I let my damp towel fall to the floor as I picked out my outfit. I normally go for the safest option: a collared shirt and a modest pair of taupe pants but tonight I decided to go out with a bang. I flip through my abundance of modest attire and reach for my black strappy dress. It fits my body in all the right places. It accentuates my slim waist and allows enough cleavage to give a taste of whatâs underneath the dress. I smile to myself and slip it on after my underwear and bra. I finish up my hair and makeup with just enough time to drive over to Ethanâs house. I greet my best friend who grew up in a similar family situation as me: wealthy and unable to be reckless. We grew up with each other and were as close as two peas in a pod. Sheâs the one I can rant to about my parents considering she understands how old wealthy parents are she gives great advice. Olivia was just finishing up talking to Ethan when she greeted me âhey girl right on time as alwaysâ she slapped me on the shoulder pointing at the overhead clock showing I was in fact not on time and I was almost 30 minutes late. I laugh and shove her back âhey it takes time to look this good!â I shout in her direction. After I shrug off my coat and shoes she pulls me into Ethanâs lush kitchen pausing to grab two shot glasses.
âWeâre letting loose tonightâ she says as she reaches for the vodka I audibly gag âfuck dude vodka tastes like rubbing alcoholâ I hiss as she chuckles and pours out shots âdonât be a pussâ she says. I bring the cold bitter liquid and suck it back feeling the burning sensation hit the back of my throat âI hate youâ I say slamming down my glass causing an echo to ring through Ethanâs very large house.
After a couple more shots we end up mingling in the living room. I'm constantly checking my watch waiting for Samâs arrival but he doesnât show. After two hours goes by I look at the door and let a disappointed sigh pass through my lips. I donât know why I care so much. I don't even know the guy yet Iâm here anxiously waiting for his arrival. Another hour goes by so do a few more shots and by this time Iâm living my best life and dancing to I wanna dance with somebody with Olivia and a few other drunk girls. I pause halfway through the song to glance at the door. Nothing. I nervously look around and pull my phone out of my purse, shooting a quick text his way âhey Sam! you coming tonight?â I quickly send it and push my phone back to its confines of my purse. I easily forget about the whole Sam situation and eventually Iâm wasted and itâs time to head home. Sam never texted me back; he stood me up. I shoved the thought out of my head as I stumbled through my door. He wasnât even my friend, he probably had other plans.
I stripped out of my clothes and dove into my bed happy to head to bed after an exciting and excruciating night.
Present day 5 years later (2009)
I open my eyes as the sound of my alarm clock blares through the room. I squint as I roll over to check the time âshitâ I mutter itâs already 8:15am Iâm going to be late for work. I rub the sleep out of my eyes and jump up out of the warmth enclosing me. I leap into my closet and grab a white button up shirt with a small yellow daisy on the breast pocket, a black pencil skirt and my favorite black blazer. I quickly throw my outfit on my body and run to the bathroom to brush my teeth. I stare at myself in the mirror as I am cleaning my teeth, a mixture of toothpaste and saliva dripping down my chin. I'm unable to believe Iâm late for work. little miss perfect is never late. I shake my head and spit the toothpaste into the sink. Iâve only been late once in my life: senior year of college that following Monday after Ethanâs graduation party. I was so stuck in my head as to why Sam never showed up. Rejection was my biggest enemy and I over thought every little thing even back then. I barely knew the guy yet I was so disappointed he turned me down for some reason. I shook the past out of my head and decided to focus on the now: getting to work as soon as possible. After slipping in some orthopedic flats I grabbed my coffee mug, purse and keys and raced out the door. I ended up late to work and was stuck in rush hour for nearly an hour.
I rushed into the museum huffing and puffing, setting my purse and coffee cup down at my desk. It wasnât like I would get in trouble for my late arrival after all I was the head conservator . It was more of an internal issue Iâve dealt with for as long as I could remember.
âHey Elizabeth whatâs got you so out of breath?â My coworker Brent asked with a look of worry plastered on his face âIâm lateâ I said between breaths. He nodded and gave me a gently smile before turning on his heels,as soon as he was almost out of my office he turned back around âoh Elizabeth I almost forgot 2 Agents from the FBI have requested a meeting with our conservator and that would be you, theyâll be here in an hourâ he smile and resumed his journey out of my office. âThanks Brent!â I shout to him as he saunters away. I finally get a chance to sit down and enjoy my coffee over my many emails. What kind of business does the FBI have here at an art museum? I push the thoughts to the back of my head and let my breathing get back to normal. After about an hour I hear a knock on my office door âcome in '' I shout. Brent pushes the door open with a small nudge and smiles politely at me âtheyâre here Elizabeth '' I nod my head and gather up my paperwork. âShow them the way to conference room 2 Iâll be there shortly, thanks Brent '' I give a swift nod before packing up my stuff to bring into the conference room, Iâm unsure of what theyâre looking for so itâs better to be prepared. I make my way to the conference space with my stack of paperwork and my laptop bag slung over my left shoulder. I give it a gentle nudge and it swings right open.
I step into the large room and set all my paperwork and laptop bag on the large conference table in the middle of the room before making any introductions. My back was turned to the two men as I prepared all of my information in a nice spread on the table. Once I finished laying everything neatly out I cleared my throat and turned around to face them. I firstly notice a man a little taller than me who gives me an almost forced smile and proceeds to introduce himself â thank you for meeting us Miss Thayer iâm agent Hamil and this is Agent fordâ the man says offering his hand to shake mine. I extend my hand into his and give him a firm handshake with a smile on my face. âIt's a pleasure to meet you Agent, please call me Lizaâ I say gingerly before letting my eyes wander to the taller boy beside him. I only had a small glance at him previously while i was talking to agent Hamil so i didn't get a good view of him yet. As my eyes find his face I begin to wonder where I knew him from. He looked awfully familiar yet I couldn't place my finger on it. The taller boy snaps me out of my staring spell and extends his hand out to mine ânice to meet you missâ he says before taking a step back shuffling in his spot. As I hear his hoarse voice my mind is able to source whose voice it is: Sam Winchesterâs. I am so beyond confused at this moment that my brain is running in overdrive. I swallow the saliva in my mouth harshly before offering them a seat. Sam looks the same as I last saw him yet different at the same time. He's taller and older yet there's something sadder in his eyes. He looks exhausted from life. He let his hair grow out, he could barely see over the mop of shaggy hair sitting on his head and now his hair is about chin length it suits him this way. I take a breath and turn my head to Sam nervously. What if he doesnât remember me? Will he laugh at me or think im stupid? What if it isnât even him? âSam Winchester?â I blurt out my brain spitting those words out before I even have time to think if I want to ask him that question.
Sam gives me a confused look as if heâs unsure of how to respond. He doesnât answer my question but explains why they are meeting with me. Sam talks for a few minutes about an artifact they are investigating before his partner, the shorter one from earlier interrupts him. âWhere do you think you know him from?â he asks coldly pointing to his partner, it seemed like the question was still on his mind. I brush the strand of hair out of my face and look over at them. âIâm sorry for the abrupt question you look like someone i went to college withâ i look down at my feet feeling the embarrassment ripple over my body and hit my face causing a sense of warmth to heat my cheeks up. His partner who I assumed was Sam pipes up âwhat college did you go toâ he asks looking at me with a look of interest âstanfordâ i reply still looking at the hardwood floors. I look up and my eyes meet his, he has a look of remembrance on his face and grins widely âLiza Thayer? Whoa it's been awhileâ his partner punches him in the arm and gives him a look of what-are-you-doing. I faintly hear agent hamil or whatever his name is angry whisper into samâs ear âweâre working a case man stop flirting with the museum ladyâ they continued to silently argue before sam looked back at me from across the table âso how have you been?â he asked so casually and all iâm wondering is where he's been after he stood me up and dropped off of the face of the earth. âYou know, living life. How have you been? Howâs Jess?â I ask, the air seems to shift after i ask about Jessica Sam shuffles into his seat uncomfortably âuh Jessica passed away the night of the partyâ she speaks slowly and looks away âiâm so sorryâ i say softly giving him an empathic look.
We stop talking about our personal lives after that and begin talking about artifacts, giving them the info they need. âHereâs a little more in depth information on the origin and other useful things about the tablet you are investigatingâ I say and hand them a few loose papers I scooped up off the table. They nod and thank me for the help âcome around if you have any more questionsâ I smile as i stand up. âThanks for the helpâ Sam says once more before they both exit my office.
After the long day I settle in my cozy pjs on my couch with a warm mug of tea between my hands trying to wrap my head around the day. I was late and I ran into Sam, what an unexpected day. I felt bad about Jessica, this whole time I was victimizing myself when it wasnât even about me. Sam went through a whole loss that night and I was worried that he stood me up? Boo hoo. I just switched friends on the tv when I heard my phone ring. I saunter over to my home phone that's primarily for business calls. I pick up and hear Brent on the other line âsomeone broke into the museumâ he said panic running evidently through his voice. âWhat?ââ I ask not expecting to hear that at 8pm at night. Brent explains the whole situation to me about how an ancient tablet was stolen shortly after close and that i need to come down and access the scene. I nod into the phone as if he could see me âI'll be down as soon as possible. Thank you for letting me know Brent, "I say before hanging the phone up. What is up with today? I think to myself before rushing out of the house to investigate whatever the hell is going on.

Halloween Treat
Jim Hopkins Imagine (Bully: Scholarship Edition)
You switch costumes with Pete, resulting in Jimmy enjoying your Halloween costume.Â
Twas the night before Halloween. Your most favorite holiday spent at Bullworth Academy. The campus was decorating with glowing jack-o-lanterns, spooky ghosts and bats, and toilet paper hauntingly hanging from the tree branches. And best of all, the student body had free reign to wreak havoc this autumn night. Of course, no one was in there costumes now, a full twenty-four hours until you could do so.Â
So, you were walking back to your dorms from the mess hall, when you saw a disgruntled Pete on the steps to the main school building. âHey, Petey, whatâs wrong?â you asked the small boy. âOh, (Y/n), heyâ he greeted, hurriedly getting to his feet. âIs everything okay? Is Gary picking on you again?â you questioned, worried about your friend. Pete just nervously shifted from foot to foot, not saying anything. âPetey, come on, talk to me. Youâre worrying me,â you begged. âIt's stupid, really. Itâs not even a big deal,â Petey whined, avoiding eye contact with you. âWell, it obviously is if your this uptight about it. Come on, Pete oâboy, tell Momma (Y/n) all about your troubles. I promise I wonât laugh,â you pestered, poking the young boy repeatedly in the arm. âOk, fine. It's about my costume,â Pete admitted, finally giving up. âYour costume?â You were confused now; how could Halloween get-up make his this miserable. âYou see, I already picked out my costume for tomorrow night. I was really excited about it, but now Iâm afraid to be seen in it!â Petey explained, pacing around as he stressed over the situation. âWhy? Your costume canât be that bad,â you tried to reassure Pete. âHa-ha, well, it's not exactly something Gary or Jimmy would where thatâs for sure,â he said, voice shaking. âThen what is it?â Petey sighed and glumly ushered you to follow him.
He led you over to the boysâ dorms and inside the building. You ignored the dilapidated surroundings and B.O. smell as Petey brought you to his room. It really shocked you how Bullworth treated the boys living conditions compared to the girls. Anyway, Petey brought you into his small room and closed the door, before turning to his wardrobe. He opened it up, showing you his costume hanging on the inside of wardrobe door. You didnât say anything when you saw the bright pink, furry bunny suit. It even had a puffy tail and ears attached to it.Â
Pete noticed your silence, frowning even more. âNow you see what the problem is. I canât go out in that! Iâll be the laughing stock of the school and a prime target for the bullies!â he freaked out. âI donât know what to say, Petey. Do you have another costume to go out in?â you questioned. âNope. And I have to wear a costume tomorrow. Gary will notice and make fun of me for it.â You took a seat on Peteâs bed, the springs of the mattress squeaking as you put your weight on it. âWell, youâre definitely in a pickle.â âHey, tell me about it.âÂ
Petey sat next to you, head in his hands. You lightly patted him on the back, âThere there. Youâll get through this.â âIf only I could switch my costume out with someone else,â Petey mumbled into his hands. A light bulb went off over you head, an idea popping your brain. âPetey, I think I might have an idea,â you excitedly told him. âWha-, how?â âJust trust me, Petey. Give me your costume and Iâll have another one for you by tomorrow,â you explained. The young boy was hesitate for moment, but he eventually got up and grabbed the accursed bunny suit, handing it to you without a word. âThanks, Petey, I swear, I wonât let you down!â YOu rushed out his room and towards the dorm hallâs exit, Petey wishing you a disgruntled good luck. Looks like I have a night of work to do, you thought.Â
~ Time skip ~
It was officially Halloween. And everyone was celebrating like crazy. Pranks ensued as the prefects partied away and the teachers stayed in their lounge. You were walking the school grounds in the costume you spent all night sewing and hemming. A couple of guys ogled your form as you walked past, while the girls complimented you on the costume. You could only smirk as you sucked on a lolly-pop, making your way over to the front of the boyâs dorms. When you got there, you saw Gary, Jimmy, and Petey gathered on the steps to the dormsâ entrance dressed in their costumes.Â
Garry was dressed up as a Nazi SS soldier, without the symbols and armband. I got to remember to scold him later, you thought, frowning at Garryâs choice of dress up. Meanwhile, Jimmy was dressed up as a skeleton, with black and white face paint, and Petey was dressed up in the Grim Reaper costume you gave him. It was actually the costume you planned on wearing and as it wasnât gender specific, Petey could wear it without being worried about Gary making fun of him. But Gary being Gary was still pestering poor innocent Petey.Â
âCome on, Femboy, whereâs the bunny costume I got you? Donât tell me you go rid of it,â Gary threatened. âNo, Gary, I traded it with someone and they gave me this,â Petey protested, his voice muffled from behind his skeleton mask. âDonât lie to me, Petey. You know I donât like liars. No one would take that damn bunny costume,â Gary said while rolled his eyes. You decided it was time to make your presence known.Â
âHello boys,â you called out to them. All three of them turned to look at you, eyes widening at the sight of you. You stood before them in the tailored bunny suit, having cut off the legs and sleeves of the one piece. It was now a sleeveless, booty short one piece with a cinched waist and a lowered neckline. You accessorized the look with hot pink fishnet thigh high stockings and fingerless pink fishnet gloves that end below the elbows. To complete the look, you wore white combat boots and sexy bunny makeup. All three of the boys just stared at you, mouths wide open. Gary was the first to snap out of it, a wolf whistle coming out of his smirking mouth. âLook at you, (y/n). Say, are you going to be our little Playboy bunny for the night?â he teased. âKnock it off, Gary,â Jimmy snapped suddenly. Gary, for once, backed off.Â
Instead his attention was focussed back onto his Big Prank, as he liked to call it. He forced all four of you to follow him to the side yard of Harrington House, where Chad and the other Preppies lived. It was only then did he explained his twisted little plan. âOk, hereâs the deal. Weâre going to feed Chads dog a bunch of this rancid meat then wait for him to take a dump then -â Gary started, a sick smile on his face as he explained the prank formed in his evil little mind. âMan, what the hell. Iâm out of here,â Petey cried in disgust, interrupting Gary. He ran away disgusted, Gary just shouting, âWhatever, Pete.â This prank is nasty, even for you,â you sneered. âLetâs just do this, guys. Iâll explain everything later,â Gary huffed.Â
You all turned to look around the corner of the archway leading into the side yard, where Chester, the aforementioned dog, was running around. But there was little problem in this âbrilliantâ plan of Garyâs. Chad was in the yard, playing with the Staffordshire Bull Terrier via frisbee. âShit, now what do we do,â Jimmy questioned. âWhat do you mean âwhat do we doâ? We fight him, of course. Geez, Jimmy, are you really that much of a pea brain?â Gary snapped. Jimmy opened his mouth to retort back but you stopped him before he could. âPipe it down, you two. Let me handle this,â you hissed. Without another word, you sauntered up to Chad, seductively swinging your hips.Â
âHey, Chad,â you greeted in a sing-song voice. âOh, ah, hey there darling,â Chad replied once he saw you. You could already tell he was in the palm of your hand as he looked at you with love struck eyes. You were pretty sure it was because of your costume, for without it Chad and all the other boys never would have spared you a second glance. Using your sex-appeal to your advantage, you continued entrapping him in your web. âOh, nothing. Iâm just so bored and lonely tonight. Will a nice strong gentleman like you help me?â you drawled, trailing a gloved hand down Chadâs chest. Sweat started to accumulate around the prepâs hairline and he struggled with his next words. âI would love to, darling. What you wanna do?â âOh I think I have an idea. You just have to follow me to somewhere a little more private,â you practically whispered into his ear. Chad tensed up and swallowed a lump in his throat, but he allowed you to take his hand and pulled him away from the side yard.Â
You were just about lead into the space between the left side of the preppiesâ dorms and the fence when Jimmy came up behind Chad hit him on the back of the head. The force of the blow caused Chad to fall to the pavement, knocked out cold. âJimmy! What was that for?â you hissed. âI thought that was your plan. To lure him away and knock him out,â Jimmy said, a faint blush on his cheeks. Before you could figure out why the teen was blushing, Gary hurried past the both of you to Chester. âWho cares what the chick was going to do? We got what we needed,â he voiced over his shoulder as he kneeled down to the dog. âHere you go boy. Have a little trick for a treat. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum,â he said to Chester as the staffy ate the meat. Immediately after finishing, Chester started whining as he squatted over the grass. âThatâs gross!â Jimmy exclaimed as he crossed his arms in disgust. âPoor little guy,â you worried, holding your nose as the barely digested meat exited the poor pooches rear end. As soon as Chester finished with his business, Gary gathered the fecal matter into a brown paper back.Â
âScore! Alright letâs go to the teacherâs lounge,â Gary ordered. The three of you ran towards the main school building, entering by one its back exits onto the main floor. Jimmy placed the bag of doggy doo in front of the door of the teacherâs lounge. As soon as he set it down, Gary lit a match and brought it close to the paper back. âAre you sure this is a good idea, Gary?â you distressed. All you could think of was possible setting the building on fire. âDonât worry. It will be funny,â Gary threw off your worries. âJust pulled the fire alarm, Jimmy, and watch fun begin.â Jimmy did as Gary said, striding up to the nearby fire alarm on the opposite wall. He looked around before grabbed the handle and pulling it down.Â
The air filled the sounds of alarms as Gary, Jimmy, and you hid around the corner. âWhat the hell is going on?â you heard one of the teachers shout from within the teacherâs lounge. The door opened to reveal Mr. Burton, who once he saw the paper back on fire, tried to put it out by stomping on it. He successfully put out the small fire but now the bottom of shoes where covered in disgusting, half-digested, port-a-potty smelling dog shit. Mr. Burton screamed and gagged as he tried to get the animal turds off his sneakers. You all couldnât help but laugh as you all ran away and out the side exit, rushing away from the scene of the crime. Next thing you knew, you all were by the front of the academyâs gates, near the dorms.Â
All of you struggled to breath, hands on your knees as you hunched over from both laughter and the sprinting. âThat ... was the most brilliant ... and hilarious ... prank Iâve ever seen!â you complimented Gary. âEven I have to admit, that was a great prank, Gary,â Jimmy confirmed. Gary got a wicked smile on his face, immensely enjoying being complimented on his âsuperiorâ brain. âThank you, thank you, hold your applause, please. I know you all love me,â he boasted, mock bowing to you guys. âOk, donât get so full of yourself,â Jimmy sassed. âWhatever, man. You two have fun jacking each other off. Iâm going to steal some candy from the nerds,â Gary answered back. He ran off before you and Jimmy could yell at him.Â
âWell, tonight was surprisingly fun,â you turned to Jimmy. âLooks like my first Halloween in Bullsworth is a success. It's a bummer that its ending already,â Jimmy replied. A light bulb went off over the top of your head, an idea forming in your mind. âWho said it was over? Follow me,â you announced. You sprinted towards the girlâs dorms, motioning Jimmy to follow you. You heard the sound of Jimmyâs footsteps following you as ran to the right side of the building. Quickly and efficiently, you climbed up the lattice bolted to the brick wall and up to the open window on the third floor. Once you stepped foot in the large attic space, you helped Jimmy climb in behind you.Â
âWhew, you are surprisingly fast,â Jimmy huffed out, struggling to catch his breath after the sprinting and high climb. âThanks, Jim. Come have a seat,â you acknowledged his compliment. You led Jimmy over to a small area of the attic where you had a pile of comfy pillows and blankets, a tiny tv with a built in VCR situated next to the wall. Fairy lights were struck through the rafters above it, barely lighting up the windowless area. You sat on the pile of pillows and turned on a battery operated camping lantern, finally allowing the both of you to see clearly what you were doing. As Jimmy took a seat next to you, you pulled out a bowl filled with candy. âWant some?â you offered the teen. âWhere did you get these?â he questioned, grabbing a handful of assorted candy. âMy parents sent me a care package of sorts. They know how much I love Halloween,â you explained, picking out a single piece of (favorite candy). âWish my mom did something like that. Sheâs too busy hanging out with her 5th husband on their honeymoon to even think about me,â Jimmy complained. You could see thinking of his absent mother really upset hi, their relationship not on the best of terms. You nudged Jimmy on his costumed shoulder, trying to get him out of this little funk. âCome on, letâs pick out a movie to watch. I have a couple to choose from,â you said. Jimmy gave you a warm smile as you pulled a small pile of VCRs.Â
The night continued with you and Jimmy stuffing your faces on candy and popcorn as you watched movies from within your secret chilling out spot. You were in the middle of the first movie, a classic slasher film, when Jimmy said something. âHey, (y/n), back when you were distracting Chad, were you really going to ...â he trailed off. You pulled your eyes away from the TV screen, studying Jimmy. He was sitting on a couple of different colored pillows, leaning back on one of his outstretched arms and feet kicked out in front of him. He was refusing to look you in the eye, signaling that something was up. âWhat? Oh, that!â you realized what he was talking about. âNo! Absolutely not! I was just trying to lead Chad away so we could get what we needed for the prank.âÂ
Jimmy looked relieved, the tension in his shoulders releasing as he let out a sigh. âOk. Good. I just thought maybe you had a thing for him or something,â he explained. âJimmy, do think I really would let anyone get with me like that?â you sassed. âPff, well you are dress up as a more modest Playboy bunny. Any boy would fall for you dressed like that?â he replied, rolling his eyes. It seemed he was trying to change the subject. âOh, so does that mean you like my costume, Jimmy? Has this little bunny gotten to ya?â you teased. Jimmyâs cheeks got red, as he no longer had his skull face makeup on. He started to stutter out half formed words, his tongue all twisted. You liked seeing so flustered like this. Seeing how you made him this way was kind of cute.Â
Since meeting Jimmy that faithful school day you started to grow some feelings for the short stocky teen. Seeing how he stood up to bullies, student and faculty alike, and how determined he was to rise to the top in order to survive the hellhole that is Bullsworth was most likely the cause. As well as the way he was so kind to you despite not really fitting in with the cliques of the student body. Heck, you werenât even that close to Petey and Gary before Jimmy came along. Jimmy brought out the best in you and you loyally followed him on his chaotic adventures, even if they werenât something you could see yourself doing.Â
So, your heart fluttered in your chest as you watched Jimmy struggle to find words to talk to you. âI - I actually do like your costume,â he finally admitted. Your heart soared and you tried to hide the impact his compliments had on you. âReally? What do you like about it? Itâs nothing specially,â you bashfully replied. âWell, first it brings out your figure without revealing too much. Itâs eye catching,â he revealed sheepishly. You could feel yourself blushing under your halloween makeup, it badly hiding your pink cheeks. âThank you ...that means a lot coming from you,â you replied, flushed.Â
A stiff awkward silence followed, both of you trying to focus on the slasher film on the tiny TV. You reached over to grab a handful of popcorn without looking, but instead of grabbing the buttery treat, you ended up grabbing Jimâs hand as he also reached for the popcorn without looking. Your breath hitched at the feeling of his warm rough hand in yours, secretly reveling in the sensation. Your eyes trailed down to your conjoined hands, up his arm, and to his face. You were meet with dazzling brown eyes staring into your own. The world seemed to stop as you gazed at Jimmyâs freckled filled face, traces of his face paint still lingering on his skin from where he failed to wipe it off. You noticed the distance between you two was slowly disappearing as subconsciously leaned into each other. âAw, fuck it,â you heard Jimmy mumble before closing the little distance between you two.Â
Jimmyâs lips met yours roughly, a little âMmm!â escaping from you. You couldnât help but grab onto his stocky shoulders and melt into the kiss, quietly sighing as you did so. You could feel Jimmyâs hands move to grip your waist, everything feeling hot as stereotypical kissing noises filled the attic as you two moved your lips against each other. He taste like candy, you thought to yourself as a hand threaded through his short orange hair.Â
You could have gone on forever connected this way, but you were both human beings who need air to survive. So you unhappily had to separate from each other, gasping for air as you did so. You trailed a hand gently down Jimmyâs freckled cheek as he looked at you with hooded eyes. You could see the longing within them, one of his hands slowly moving off of your hip, it leaving a lingering touch. âJ-Jimmy ...â you stuttered out, not knowing what to say. âThat was great. God, how could I not have done that sooner?â Jimmy wondered out loud. âDone it sooner?â you pondered, brain all fuzzy from the kiss. â(Y/n), I like you, a lot. And after seeing Chadâs hands all over you ... I couldnât handle it,â Jimmy confessed. You thought you died and went straight to heaven. No way your crush was confessing to you. âSo, I what Iâm basically trying to say is ... will be my girlfriend?â Jimmy finally asked.Â
You couldnât stop yourself, planting a kiss right on Jimmyâs reddened lips. You felt Jimmy freeze up from the unexpected action, pulling away from the stiff boy to give him your answer. âOf course, Jimmy. I would be stupid not to,â you said, smiling from ear to ear. A similar smile broke out on Jimmyâs face, reaching out to you to pull you into another kiss. You happily let him, the smile still on your lips as were locked in a passionate embrace. Jimmy pulled you closer as you practically sat on his lap, his hands firmly holding you in his arms. âBest Halloween treat ever,â he chuckled, before proceeding to a makeout session. Best Halloween treat, indeed.Â

Sonally Celebration Week, Year 3, Day Three!
Day three is here, and as usual, I tend to go for my flair with thematic tones over the literal idea of the prompt. Everyone else enjoying what @gojira007 and their blog @boundforfreedomsonsal brings will find this to their pleasure.
Sonally Celebration Week, Year Three: Day Three
Foreward: This episode takes place mere months after Mystery. I know last year sometimes I hoped about the time-line a bit, while with at least episode one-through-three Iâm keeping it rather linear in the story-telling. Last time we saw Sonic and Sally as babysitters to Sonicâs younger siblings; now their own time has parents twasâ nigh.
Day three: Crossroads
âSonic Maurice Hedgehog, I love you, I love you with all my heart and soul, but-nrghh!â Grimacing, Sally Acorn-Hedgehog panted heavily as another contraction wracked her body. Her grip on the hand of her husband tightened. âBut I swear, I SWEAR if you do this to me again, I-will-EAT-YOUR-SHINS!!â
Making a soft, but audible sound of physical distress, Sonic swore he felt the bones in his hand crunch. Yet he did not dare wretch it free, not that he felt he could if he wanted too. Sallyâs grip was intense, and furthermore, any attempt to save his own skin would be met with death. As sweat trickled down his brow, making the mask attached to his face, and the scrubs he wore a bit uncomfortable. Yet his own discomfort was his least priority at the moment. âY-you got it Sal, j-just hang in there a bit moreâŚâ
Sallyâs eyebrow raised incredulously. âHang in th-nrgh, t-there?! Oh my dear husband, you just did-urghhh! N-not tell me to hang in there? Just what the f**k do you think Iâm doing?! Iâve been âhanging in thereâ since my water broke and the contractions kicked in, and those two little darlings âyouâ put in my belly canât decide if they want to come out now, or kick Mommyâs bladder some more!â
âH-hey Iâm just trying to help!â He pleaded as she clutched his hand tighter than before. âI know this isnât easy on you Sal, but itâs not like I can whip out a Power Ring or Chaos Emerald and make it better. If I could-ghhh, take your place I would!â Sonic knew this was in no-way easy, but in the span of a few hours heâd seen Sally run the gauntlet of her emotional range. Mostly all centered at being upset with him. Now he understood what his Dad meant by âNothing will prepare either of you for this; but remember, Sallyâs going to be put through a wringer, so be patient, and be understandingâ. âSal, please you need to calm down some, itâs not good for you, or the babies right Doc?â
The âDocâ in question lifted her head from her position between the Queenâs legs. After almost twenty-plus years of service, Doctor Quack had retired from medicine but remained a consultant for the Acorn Kingdom Ministry of Medicine. So the new Royal Doctor, one Jolene Fredrick, and one of Quackâs protogeâs was tending to the birth of Sally and Sonicâs children. The spotted-Hyena doctor managed a bemused smile behind her surgical mask. âYour husband is quite right, your majesty, I know it hurts, but the more you let the pain stress you out, the more it will complicate things.â She spoke evenly, softly, and kindly but with a firm authority a doctor should carry. âI know giving birth to twins is not easy, especially for a first-time pregnancy, but despite the pain, it looks like the babies are finally about ready to come out.â
A part of Sally wanted to scream and kindly (or not so kindly) tell Jolene to jump out the window, or anyone else asking her to âbear with it moreâ. After all the hours she already had dealt with the discomfort, and false alarms, up until the pains really started to kick in over the last hour and a half. Yet Sally held back that urge, both from her brain managing to get through the pain and reminding her, Jolene was trying to help. Plus as a Mother herself, sheâd had first-hand experience with what she was going through. The other reason she pushed her anger down was the soft touch of Sonicâs hand that wasnât currently in the vice grip she was placing on the other. A quick glance into those emerald-pools, seeing concern and love, did much to soften her.Â
A small whimper left Sally as she eased her grip and held Sonicâs hand to her face. âIâm sorry, it just huuuurts.â She whined softly, feeling utterly pathetic she was reduced to such a state. Her composure was thrown out the window, cursing freely, and just, the sheer roller coaster of hormones and emotions over the last several hours had taken a toll. âI want my babies, but-rugh, I want them out, nooooow!â
âI know Sal, I know.â Sonic murmured, wincing at the defeated, pained sounds coming from the love of his life. Bringing her hand to his face, he did his best to kiss the top of her hand through his surgical mask. âIâm with you, however long this takes you got me at your side.â
A small, strangled laugh left Sally as she managed a warm smile as she gazed at her husband. âHowâd I get so lucky? Some people take forever to find their soulmate and I met mine at two years old.â Letting out a dreamy sigh, Sally pulled his hand to her and planted a kiss there, with both her hands (gently) cocooning both of her hands over his. Just as quick as the quiet moment came, it was taken away as Sally let out another sharp gasp. âOooooooff!! I felt that one!â
Eyeing some equipment next to her, Jolene made a âhmmâ and then turned to look over at the couple. âGood news, it looks like the babies are finally making up their minds, one is starting to make way. Take deep breaths, your majesty, just like you practiced, weâre almost at the end goal.â She smiled through her mask, her own mild fatigue visible in her eyes. Yet like her predecessor there was a fire to see things through. âYou can do this your Maj-.â âJ-just Sally please!â Insisted the mother-to-be as she gripped the edge of her bed rails with one of her hands, as the other still clutched onto Sonic. âT-this is too personal to keep using formal titles. Nrgh, j-just for now, please, no titles.âÂ
A part of the doctor felt awkward at putting the habit of being so informal, but if it would help. âAlright Sally, weâre in the final stretch, deep breathes. Weâll see the crowning any moment now.â
Nodding, Sally looked to Sonic, wincing and breathing deeply as she was taught. âI love you.â âBack atâcha Sal, you got this.â Sonic fought back a wince from his extremely sore hand. Focusing more on giving Sally his support. âBack atâcha, now letâs welcome our kids and you get some rest.â
Some Time Later:
Exhausted deeply in body and soul, Sally could feel all this in the back of her mind; yet her focus was on anything but the fatigue. A warm, happy, glowing feeling replaced the fatigue as she stared at the two swaddled bundles in her arms. âTheyâre beautifulâŚâ She cried, happily as she stared at the mewling infants. Who seemed to instinctively lean against her body through their swaddling. It had been worth it, the long labor, the pain, all-worth-it. The girl of the twin-set was a chipmunk-ish hybrid like Sally but clearly sported her Fatherâs blue hues in her fur. The boy, clearly of the hedgehog variety had the more soft browns of his Mother. Time would tell if Sallyâs red hair, or the blonde or brown hair from Sonicâs side of the family would pop up.
As she glanced over at Sonic, she was nearly bowled over by the sheer awe in his eyes and face (his surgical mask was off). His eyes were misty, making her wonder if she was looking at a mirror of her own expression. âYou just love in love donât you?â
âTotally.â Sonic nodded, a strangled laugh leaving him as she leaned in, getting eyefuls of the two joys the two had both patiently and impatiently waited for all this time. It had been a long road to parenthood, both held off having kids right away due to many reasons after the war. The rebuilding efforts, just enjoying themselves free of fighting, and other small, miscellaneous reasons. Last year they finally felt ready and well, started working on getting Sally pregnant, which didnât take long with how they were.
Sonic wondered if this surge of pride and absolute happiness was something both his parents felt when either his siblings and he had been born? The sheer high of it almost-no, no it absolutely did dwarf the high of running free in the wind. Gently he reached a hand down, running a finger along one childâs cheek, then the other. âHey you two, glad to finally meetâcha. Iâm Daddy, this is Mommy, and weâre going to love and look after you until the end of time.â
Nodding her head eagerly in agreement, Sally sniffed back more tears of joy. âForever and ever, all ours.â She giggled, kissing the soft, furry cheeks of her newborns. âWelcome to the world Kathleen and Jaleel-Craig.
âI still think Justin-McCooiagel sounded pretty good.â Quipped Sonic with a smug, joking smirk.
âI will not let our son be mercilessly teased because his Father wanted to give him a âcool nickname like âJust Coolâ or whatever string of odd nicknames.â She firmly stated, giving Sonic a dull stare. âSeriously, one of your names was Radical. Just Radical.â
âHey itâs a good gender-neutral name, and we knew we were having twins.â His wide grin, showcased he enjoyed pulling her chain. He mostly had been joking about the aforementioned names, well mostly. The ones they settled on were perfect. Kathleen Nicole Acorn-Hedgehog was named after Sallyâs Grandmother that she sadly never got to know, and her middle name was in honor of a certain BFF of the Queenâs. Jaleel-Craig Acorn-Hedgehog, or J.C. for short, got his name from Sonic learning Jaleel had been one of âhisâ potential birth names. Seems his Father knew a Jaleel from school who had been his best friend until he died in the war, and had considered giving him his name in remembrance, only to decide Bernieâs idea of Sonic seemed fitting. Both Sonic and Sally thought it would be a nice name, and as for the Craig addition, Sonic just liked the name, and felt a two-word name would be great for one of the kids. His desire won out after he won three out of five rock-paper-scissors matches with Sally for the final say-so.
âSure it isâŚâ Rolling her eyes Sally reached over and ran her hand, playfully over Sonicâs face. âYouâre just lucky you are adorable.â
âHa! Adorable wished it were me.â Murred Sonic as he nuzzled against her hand. âAlthough my wife and lovely children are top-tier competition.â
Snorting, Sally then yawned loudly. âOh my, I-I *yawn*, damn it, I donât wanna sleepâŚâ
The door to the suite opened and Doctor Jolene stuck her head in. Having overhard the yawn, she gave the couple a knowing smile. âYou should get your rest while you can. The kiddos will be tuckered out themselves, and the nurses will watch them overnight. Trust me you will want as much sleep as you can before they want to feed.â Given it was between two and three oâclock, the Royal Family didnât have any visitors waiting on them until much later in the day to worry about.
As another yawn tore from her throat, Sally nodded in acceptance. She then poked at her own chest, semi-covered by her hospital gown. âFinally these udders will get some use. The swelling of the milk is getting annoying.â
A dirty joke formed in Sonicâs head, but he wisely (this time) fought off voicing it. A low, tired, yawn left him as well. âSnooze nâ Zzzâs sound about right Doc. Plus thereâs that saying, we should get as much as we can?â
âAs one parent to another, ooooh yes!â Laughed Jolene as she walked over to give the Mother and children a once over as a nurse came over with a rolling cart with two portable baby-carrier cribs for the infants to sleep in. âThat should be your priority as much as looking after J.C. and Kathleen now, making sure youâre rested so you can look after them.â She then gives her Queen a playful-if-stern look. âWhich means our dear Queen needs to knock off the all-nighter paper-work and project binges.â
Unable to not but wince at the accusation, Sally sighed in defeat. She knew her bad habit was one not to be ignored at this juncture in life. âIâve already delegated my tasks to Nicole and the Council, and all necessary partiesâŚâ
âAfter taking weeks to painstakingly do soâŚâ Her husband quipped with a mirroring playful-but-stern with a dash of accusatory as Doctor Jolene.
Sally sent Sonic a glare, but fatigue and looking upon the faces of her children made the frown go away. âI know what my priorities are⌠I know that I'm going to need to get back to running the kingdom but Iâm not going to ever put these two what I meant through. I will find the balance.â
Rubbing her shoulder, Sonic leaned in, planting a kiss to her cheek. âNâ you got me to help, weâre doing this as a team forever, and always.â
âAlways.â She agreed, craning her head to kiss him back. Another yawn left her as the nurse gently took the snoozing children. Her gaze followed them as they were carefully put in the sleeping cribs. âSee you soon my lovesâ.â She murmured, eyes beginning to feel heavier as she watched them be wheeled out. âLove you SonicâŚâ She murmured feeling him tuck her in as her eyes closed.
âLove you too Sal, Iâll be right here.â He murmured, waiting until he was sure she was dozed off. Leaning back from her bed, he popped his back and shook his hands. One was extremely sore but thankfully not damaged. âIâm gonna get some water, and then Iâm gonna crash myself Doc.â
âI have a rollaway being brought in for you.â She nodded, giving one last check over of Sallyâs vitals, and pleased with what she saw, intended to conclude her rounds and get some shuteye herself. âSleep well Prince-er Sonic.â She corrected as the Prince-Regent gave her a tired but mild glare. âSorry, force of habit.â âSâokay Doc⌠Just titles nâ crap ainât me, but I married a Princess whoâs now Queen so⌠eh if you gotta for decorum nâ crude sure. Like this⌠Sonic is fine.â He grinned, giving a two finger salute before padding out of the suite. Water was his priority, his throat was dry, and then, bed. Sweet, sweet bedtime. If the way twins seemed to behave in the family held up, Sally and he would need to be on their toes sooner than later.
A new crossroad of life at been reached, and they were committed to what the future may hold for them and their family.Â

Hey, I've been feeling down recently and was wondering if you had any Logince headcannons. Platonic or romantic work, whichever you feel more comfortable with. Sorry if I'm bothering you.
aw lad donât worry about bothering me iâm glad to share some headcanons ! i hope you feel better soon!
now, might i interest you in some childhood friends-to-enemies-to-friends-to-lovers logince? [PREPARE FOR A LONG ASS BULLET FIC IâM SO SORRY (google docs says itâs 4.2k words oh my god)]
theyâve known each other since the first grade because oh my god they were neighbours
they were the kind of childhood friends that were aware of each otherâs presence and they hung out a little on the playground and worked on group projects but they didnât really click
there WERE occasions tho where their parents would sit them down together for play dates bc one or more of said parents were Occupied with Important Adult Stuff
and since this was way back when they were wee lil smols, they were hyperactive lil children
so they played lots of adventure games, lots of role-playing, play fighting, that kind of stuff (twas often the dashing daring prince accompanied by his wise magickal advisor)
okay, so maybe they did click, but only a little (so they say)
they liked most of the same stuff, reading, learning, doing stuff with all that knowledge in those big brains of theirs, and that was pretty much the base of their close-but-not-that-close-friendship
and then they got older, and as all kids do, they started prioritizing different things
logan still loved learning and applying that knowledge, but it was more of a âlearn and apply what knowledge can make you really successfulâ and that was how he found his love of science
for roman, it was more of a âtake what youâve learned and use it to create your own path to successâ because he planned to go into music and theatre
as a result of this, both boys were exceptional students, except logan cared maybe a little too much about the academics and roman not enough
as the years went by, logan threw himself into studying, making schedules and routines so that he could make sure he knows what he needs to know and maybe a little bit more on the side, who cares if he lost an hour of two of sleep?
roman just learned to go with the flow, so he took everything in stride, took in what he needed, left the rest, and focused on his art instead, even if heâs started to grow an unhealthy apathy to school
and maybe logan falls just short of perfect on his tests, and he looks over and roman has glowing one hundreds in red ink on his
logan looks back down at his and the teacher has written âThink outside the box!â
meanwhile logan answers every question in class with scary accuracy, beaming with pride whenever the teacher praises him, and after school that same day roman gets pulled aside with an âI know youâre smart, so why donât you want to put in the work?â
of course loganâs parents wonder why his grades donât match his progress work, and romanâs parents wonder how he can spend all his time singing and dancing and still come out with high nineties (âis he cheating?â)
and the two have been drifting apart enough as it was, but now they kind of hate each other because âwhy canât i just be more like him?â
logan starts hating roman because âhe doesnât even CARE, how is he doing better than me?â (part of him misses the days when roman cared so much about anything and everything)
roman starts hating logan because âheâs so stiff and condescending, why canât he just be happy for me?â (and part of him misses when logan would so willingly stand by his side as his faithful warlock advisor)
so naturally, competition just kind of,,,, grows between them, until theyâre constantly at each otherâs throats and everyone else watching the shitshow go down has absolutely no idea where the hell all this animosity came from
at this point logan has a new friend in virgil fray and roman has befriended patton hart (virgil and patton know not to bring up the boysâ ârivalryâ)
of course, being neighbours, they canât exactly escape each other, and their rooms are adjacent to each otherâs (they used to just lean out their windows and talk side by side, but they havenât in yEARS)
so itâs nearing summer, and itâs hot out so romanâs working on his homework with the window open when he hears this cry of frustration, the angry pushing back of a chair, and the throwing open of the door
his first thought is one of smug satisfaction knowing that logan is dealing with school worse than he is, but then a flash of black catches his eye underneath his window
he makes it to the window just in time to see logan hop the fence in his backyard, and that only means one thing: heâs going to the old park behind their houses
neither of them have touched that park in ages
roman is Intriguedâ˘, so he caps his pen, turns off his lamp and tells his parents heâs going for a walk before dashing out the back door
when he gets to the park, loganâs somehow managed to climb on top of the roof of the play structure
and roman ainât slick so he just stands at the bottom and yells up to him
and logan is Lost In Thought so he nearly falls off (lbr roman thought it was funny)
âwhat are you doing here?â
âwell excuse me, suck-rates, i happened to notice that you werenât doing too hot and wanted to see if you were okay.â
âlike youâve ever cared.â
âwoah there, is blink 180-ew rubbing off on you?âÂ
âlay off of him.â
âalright, alright, fine. forgive me for checking in on you.â
âyou have a horrible way of showing people that you care, then.â
âwell you have a horrible way of being a good friend.â
it just kind of,,,, slipped out, and now both boys are Oh Shit
but both boys are also not the type to back down from their feelings so they kind of have the Silent Stare-Off of Stubborness
roman decides to be the bigger person (bc any chance to one-up logan) and cave firstÂ
âso uh, whatâs been bothering you?â (psh you thought he was gonna apologize first? not yet fam)
logan rolls his eyes bc this asshole amirite, but he wants to vent and this is probably his best opportunity to tell roman whatâs really been bugging him
âi donât know how you manage to do it.âÂ
âdo what?â
âdo so well in school! you donât even try!â and damn dude that one stings because he sounds exactly like his parents and every other teacher
âso youâre angry because youâre jealous that iâm better than you at everything.â
âthatâs not what i meant and you know it.â
âiâll have you know that i do try.â
âbut you donât care.â
âabout school.â
âwhat?â
âi mean yeah, sure, i donât care about school that much because i donât really need it to go into music or theatre, but i still do my work.â
âbutââ
âdonât you dare say anything about my grades because you know damn well that youâre smarter than me.â
âam notââ
âbesides, werenât you the one that told me in the fifth grade that âgrades donât mean shitâ? my my, what a foul mouth for ten-year-old logan crane.â
âshut up.â
ânah.â
and by now loganâs decided that romanâs probably not going to rip his head off so he climbs down to stand beside him
and maybe the sun is setting bc iâm a classy romantic
and theyâre having a Soft Quiet Moment
ââŚplease donât tell me that school was the only reason why u hated me.â
â⌠why did you hate me?â smh lo youâve got to stop deflecting
ââŚâ
âare you kidding me.â
âYOU STARTED ITâ
âwhat no you did shut upâ
and wOw now itâs awkward soÂ
âoh would you look at that, itâs getting late, my parents are gonna think that iâm slacking again, better go. good talk letâs do this again sometime okay byeeâ and whoop roman just zooms off
and logan realizes that maybe romanâs life isnât as perfect as he makes it out to be
but too late romanâs gone and he doesnât want to look like heâs following him so he waits a good half hour before trekking back home
logan doesnât finish his homework that night because heâs too busy rethinking the past many many years
the next day, heâs frantically trying to cram his work in during his lunch period
virgil takes one look at him and he says âdude, are you okay?â
ânoâ
âcool, let me know if i can do anything to help.â and maybe itâs a cold answer but logan and virgil are cold edgy people so thatâs just how they do
after like twenty minutes virgil takes out his earbuds like âyou havenât complained or sent one angry glare in romanâs direction what the fuck is up kyleâ
âiâm justâŚ. stressed.â
virgil, externally:Â âyeah of course i feel u dude.â
virgil, internally:Â âiâve seen you start a project at 3am the morning it was due without breaking a sweat but go off i guess.â
skip to later that night, logan finished his shit (he needed a distraction from the Roman Crisis) so he leans out his window for some Fresh Summer Night Air
and oho would you look at that roman had that sa m e i d ea
but itâs one of those clear nights where you can actually see the stars and logan just got roman off his mind so heâs a lil distracted
but of course roman notices and now that theyâve gotten some of their ârivalryâ out of the way, he remembers how much logan loved to drag him out to the park as late as they were allowed to stay up to watch the stars, and logan looks so at peace here (heâs only really seen loganâs angry face recently)
roman wants to say something, because part of him really wants to make up with logan
but before he can work up the courage heâs interrupted by his mom calling him
âroman! are you done all your work?â
âyeah, mom! almost!â
âyou better be going to sleep early tonight!â
and roman is about to duck back inside before he gets yelled at even more but oh no too late loganâs already noticed and now heâs staring at him
âuh, hey.â
âhi.â
âare you, uh, are you feeling better?â
âfor the most part, yes.â
âthatâs good. look, uh, i gotta go, but iâll see you at school?â
âoh, right, yes. good night, roman.â
ânight, lo.â
roman falls back into his room with a crash because âoh my god why was that more nerve-wracking than any performance iâve ever done?â
logan sinks back against his wall with a sigh because âis roman avoiding me now?â
the next day at school the two actually say hi to each other in the hallway and itâs like the entire world stops moving. students are staring and whispering, virgil and patton exchange looks, and logan and roman only just now realize how big their rivalry had gotten
the two lock eyes and burst into laughter because something as simple as a passing greeting in the hallway has turned the school on its head
and the rest of the school has absolutely no idea what just happened when the two part ways, virgil and patton trailing behind them, dumbfounded
they catch each other on the way home, though they walk in silence
that night, theyâre back at their windows, side by side once more, and they exchange small talk
a couple weeks later, exams are coming up around the corner and both boys are stressed out of their minds
loganâs still working well past midnight when he hears the old creak of romanâs window opening
âi see your lamp. are you still up?â he hears roman whisper, and maybe itâs the late hour, but his voice is hoarse and wobbly, and logan is most certainly not used to hearing that
âthatâs a ridiculous question, of course iâm still up,â logan replies, still not looking up from his computer because his history final project is due in two days
except roman doesnât reply, and all he can hear from his direction is shaky laughter, and then a wet sniff
âof course iâm ridiculous. itâs not like iâm smart or anything.â
âwhat?â
âif i were smart i wouldnâtâve procrastinated this english paper and i could probably be getting some sleep right now,â roman continues like he forgot that logan was there
âromanââ
âand sure, i can do other stuff, but itâs not like it matters or anything, not to my mom, or mr. schmitt, or youââ
âroman!â
romanâs babbling stops and logan worries that heâs scared him off until he looks up and sees roman leaning halfway out his window and now loganâs worried that romanâs going to fall out and break his neck on his patio
romanâs eyes are red and his nose is rubbed raw from crying. his usually-perfectly-coiffed hair is messy and greasy from running his hands through it, his clothes are rumpled, and his grip on the windowsill is trembling
yet heâs still half out the window, eyes comically wide, and logan canât help but shake his head at how big a dork he is
âiâm sorry.â
romanâs so startled that his elbows buckle and he barely manages to land back in his room so he doesnât fall (didnât expect logan to apologize first, didya?)
heâs barely back out the window when logan starts talking again
âi shouldnât have dismissed you so quickly. you are intelligent and you are capable and you absolutely didnât deserve any of my anger or bitterness or hatred. for that, iâm sorry.â
roman is, SHOCKED, to say the least. when they were kids, usually it was roman who apologized first, if at all, logan only after being prompted to by parents or teachers (which mightâve contributed to their drifting apart)
âiâmâ thank you.âÂ
thereâs a pause because itâs late and logan is really really bad at this
âiâm sorry, too. i only really hated you because everyone kept comparing us. that wasnât really fair of me.â
âi guess not.â
âso i guess we both agree that weâre both assholes.â
âessentially.â
âcool.â
âwhat were you going to talk to me about?â and roman has an âoh yeahâ because he completely forgot what he came out here for
âi guess i just missed doing this.â
âi did too.â
and theyâre not completely in the clear, because they have years of hurt to clean up, but in that moment, they just sit and talk, and maybe missing one assignment amongst a whole year of perfect grades wonât hurt
theyâre butts tired in the morning but neither of them regret it, regardless of virgil and pattonâs comments of âhow much sleep did you get last night? you look like youâre about to pass out.â
that weekend, their finals are all handed in, exams donât start until the next week, and theyâre both sick and tired of studying so logan invites roman over and they lounge in his star-speckled room, talking about everything and nothing
romanâs busy going through loganâs stuff (âwhat? i havenât been in here since the summer before the seventh gradeâ) so logan has a free minute to just,, watch him, and he just now realizes how much he missed having this ball of energy in his life (in a positive way)
after that day, the tension between them is almost gone and conversations are so much easier (virgil and patton get to sigh in relief because âthank god, i love them, but they needed to get their shit togetherâ)
but alas, exams approach and roman calls logan late one night, in tears and stressed beyond relief, begging him to meet him at the park (he wouldâve called patton, but pattonâs never really been under forced academic pressure, and loganâs just a smidge more familiar for him)
loganâs out of the house without another thought, and he sees roman sitting up on the monkey bars with his knees tucked up to his chest (âoh my god roman donât you dare fucking fallâ)
âiâm sorry, you were probably sleeping, but i just needed to get out of the house andââ
âplease donât apologize for reaching out. whatâ whatâs wrong?â
âi just canât! my momâs been threatening to pull me out of music if i donât do well on this exam because âmath is more important than musicâ but i donât know anything! iâve been scraping by pretty well on tests but i canât fucking study and none of the information is sticking andââ
âroman, youâre hyperventilating. you need to breatheââ
âdonât tell me what to do!â roman regrets this Immediately because logan recoils his hand like heâs been burned. great, just another thing to feel Bad about. âi-iâm sorry, i shouldnât have snapped at you.â
if this was a month or two ago, logan wouldâve had a scathing remark about romanâs inability to control himself but now he just places his hand back on romanâs shoulder and taps gently with his finger
âyou remember that school assembly from grade nine? the one about mental health?â
âyeah?â
âcan you do that breathing exercise?â
âprobablyâ
ten minutes later, romanâs cried himself out and heâs stopped hyperventilating but he canât seem to stop his hands from shaking
logan has absolutely no idea what to do but heâs seen patton do it before with some of the younger kids so he holds his arms out (v awkwardly) and goes, âwould youâ would it beâ would a hug help?â
this gets a lil laugh out of roman because heâs trying and thatâs adorable so now heâs cry-laughing into loganâs shoulder
âyour mother sounds an awful lot like your horrendous dragon witch. i suppose we must simply team up to defeat her.â
roman draws away so fast he bumps into loganâs chin
âOH MY GOD YOU REMEMBER THATâ
âlike i could forget itâ
âoh my godâ
âi mean, i wanted to, but those were⌠fun times.â
âhell yeah they were.â
âwhenâs your exam? i can help you study, if you want.â
âin about seven hours.â
ââŚchange of plans, youâre coming back with me, youâre going to sleep for six, wake up, get a cup of tea, and weâre going to do a brief review before school.â
ââŚokay.â
so they walk back to loganâs house (roman makes sure to tack a note to his bedroom door for his parents, heâll face the consequences later), and they just, collapse into a pile of leggy boi on loganâs bed (they were too tired to argue about formalities)
logan wakes up with roman clinging to his chest and he very sorely misses that warm cuddly heat but Nope he is Determined⢠to help roman get that bread
so he wakes roman up, plops his notes down in front of him and tells him to flip through it while he goes to make breakfast
roman is a jittery Mess all the way up to the exam, but logan promises that heâd be waiting in the cafeteria for him (it was his lunch periodâs exam day so he a Free Boi) and he leaves roman with a âyou are more capable than you know. you already have everything you need to succeed. and no matter what, you are valid.â
two hours later, roman comes out and he has Zero Confidence in his results, but logan greets him with a clap on the shoulder and the reassurance that âat least youâre done with this.â
they meet up with virgil and patton and go for lunch, and oho, perhaps this is the beginning of a New Squad
at the end of the week, on exam review day loganâs waiting out in the hallway to go to his next class to see his results when he sees roman sprinting down the hall with the biggest grin on his face
âi got an 84!!! thank you, you beautiful blessed nerd!!â because honestly? roman expected nothing more than a 52 so this was a very pleasant surprise, and now romanâs hugging logan so tight that logan swears he heard his elbow pop
the other students of the school are still processing because it was literally only been a little over a month since they started talking to each other again, and anyone out of the loop just got hella whiplash
(and if this burst of happiness and gratitude left a weird, bubbly feeling in loganâs stomach, well, heâll just keep that to himself)
the next few summer days are spent hanging out, in their rooms, at their windows, at the park, and sometimes, virgil and patton join them
sometimes theyâre in romanâs room, roman typing away on his computer with a dozen open notebooks scattered around him while logan lays on his bed, and the two bounce ideas back and forth for the next adventures of the daring prince c and his faithful advisor logos
and then theyâre two weeks into the summer break, virgilâs off visiting family in china for the next few weeks and pattonâs in the caribbean, so theyâre just aimlessly tossing a ball back and forth in romanâs room while they talk about their futures and stuff because âoh my god theyâre gonna be high school s e n i o r s in the fallâ ((âgee, blink, donât u think thatâs a lot of drama for 16 y/os?â yes absolutely, shut up))
roman chucks the ball at logan, who catches it in one hand and heâs smirking and roman has to take a moment to catch his breath because âwhy was that so hot omgâ
over the next couple weeks the two are basically joined at the hip, and when theyâre not hanging out, theyâre texting or calling each other and it finally feels like theyâre really making up for lost time
at the same time, they may or may not be falling for each other and they have no idea what to do with these Feelingsâ˘Â
logan doesnât know how to what to do because virgil is v aro and the only other person he can talk to is roman, whOM HE HAS A CRUSH ON
meanwhile roman is v frantically texting patton like bro pls call me as soon as u get back thereâs a cute boy hELP
itâs nearing the beginning of august when the two go into town to get food and ice cream and theyâre laughing and joking and waving melted strawberry ice cream in each otherâs faces and theyâre sitting on a bench when they lean in real close mid laugh and âoh no his face is rIGHT THEREâ
they draw away real quick but both of them realize that âthat wasnât horrible?â and they slowly look back at each other and âoh.â
âis thisââ
âumââ
âis thisâ i mean if you want it to be â is this a date?â and roman holds his breath because âdear god, please say yesâ
âiâd like it to be, yes.â logan is terrified because he does n o t want to fuck this up
except now roman has the biggest grin and he absolutely does not care that heâs got ice cream dripping onto his leg
roman tackles logan into a hug because âheâs on a date with logan fucking craneâ
logan is thrilled because now he gets to keep this excitable ball of energy whoâs made him smile and laugh more in the past couple months than he has in years
(no diss against virgil and patton, but they canât relate to logan and roman as well as, well, logan and roman)
they both have ice cream on themselves but neither can be bothered to care at this moment because theyâre so damn happy
even after they go home that night, they stay up real late at their windows, side by side, just appreciating the company
itâs the next day, and theyâre at the park, the sun is setting ((listen,,,, itâs an aesthetic)) and theyâre sitting on the swings, holding hands ((theyâre in love, babey!!))
âare we⌠does this make us boyfriends now?â logan is a v technical, official terminology person, of course heâd be the one to ask
âif you want to be boyfriends.â
âi donât think iâd be asking if i didnât.â
âthen yeah, yeah weâre boyfriends.â
logan walks back into his house with a giant smile, and he plays that event over and over and over again in his mind as he lies awake in bed that night
roman calls patton immediately
and they may or may not scream about it together
logan sends virgil a short text that goes along the lines of âroman and i are dating nowâ but in real life heâs so giddy that his fingers shake as he types it out
they have their first kiss in romanâs bedroom a couple days later
when school rolls back around in the fall, they walk through the doors hand in hand
and now their rivalry is nothing but a legend that the seniors tell the freshmen whenever someone complains about âthat one couple that keeps making out in the math wing stairwell, excuse me, i just want to get to classâ
